au where there’s no huge dramatic reveal when Jason comes back. Instead he takes a more… unconventional approach.

It’s a rare sight, so many of the batclan together in the cave. Dick looks around at his mishmash family, trying to ignore the ache in his chest and the glaring hole missing from the picture before him.

Simultaneously, somewhere in a shitty apartment block in Crime Alley, Jason Todd logs on to the family streaming services and starts watching shit again.

Bruce gets emails about the new devices logging in, but he assumes one of the kids got a new phone or something. He looks up from his computer but nobody in the room is (visibly at least) on a device. He sighs and logs into Netflix, wanting to check if anyone has changed anything.

He pauses.

Jason. His profile name has changed. ‘Robin II :)’ has become ‘Batman’s Greatest Failure’ and-

He turns to his team, his children, his most trusted allies, furious. He clears his throat, turns the screen around, and… well… all hell breaks loose. To put it mildly. Accusations are flying, voices raise, things are quickly escalating past a point of control.

And then Dick gets an email from Letterboxd.

‘Jaybird has left a review for the first time in a while! Check it out?’

He feels his heart race as he clicks the link. It’s a review of a documentary.

“Movie was shit. Inaccurate. Jason Todd sucked and the guy who played him made him too soft. Also they couldn’t have given the guy contacts? Brown eyes? Are you fucking serious?

Also he hated poetry, everyone knows he was into classic lit and long form novels.”

It’s so bizarre and so clearly his brother that he laughs.

The sound brings the cacophony of bats to a halt, all turning to stare at Dick.

“Did you do this?” Bruce Batman asks, his voice cold. Dick takes a moment to breathe. Getting into another screaming match with his father won’t solve anything. Not right now anyway. There’s time for that later.

“‘No. It’s him, he’s alive, B.” Dick hands over his phone.

Bruce stands frozen for what feels like an eternity.

Everyone’s eyes are on him, on Dick’s phone clutched in his shaking hands.

“Oracle-” He starts, and it’s the most unsure the kids have ever heard him. “-can you trace this? Can you- he logged in from a new device. Can you find out where it is? Please?” Bruce finishes, never taking his eyes off the screen. Dick is pretty sure it’s already timed out.

“I’ve got a location, I sent it to your gps.” Babs responds, zeroed in on the Batcomputer.

“Do not follow me.” Bruce orders darkly, pulling on his cowl and beelining for the Batmobile. Dick doesn’t even argue that Bruce is still clutching his phone.

He’s gone in a flash of smoke, only the echo of the engine and the smell of burning rubber remains.

Dick chances a glance at the rest of the vigilantes filling the cave.

“Well, it’s a very Jason thing to do.” The joke seems to break some kind of tension, and after a moment, laughter ripples through them.

It is a Jason thing to do.

They move in synch, gearing up and moving out.

After all, what’s the first thing you learn as Robin?

STOBOTNIK Sherlock Holmes AU-- villains posing as a detective and his roommate. They solve a lot of crime-- but never the ones they commit. Together they frame anyone who grows wise to what they're really doing. Dr Robotnik and Sherlock Stone are quite the duo.

SHERLOCK STONES is a reserved genius. He and his good Doctor, Ivo Robotnik are rommates. Stone has one of the sharpest minds in all of the world. Though there are some who see him as more foe than friend. Stones enjoys playing the violin and the sound of silence.

DOCTOR IVO ROBOTNIK is the talkative, stubborn scientist. He's brilliant but a bit mad, they say. Stones' relaxed demeanor contrasts with the far more abrasive Doctor. He chronicles their adventures and peddles it to the masses as 'official' and 'firsthand' accounts of just how brilliant Sherlock Stones is. He finds the public too easy to manipulate.

IN REALITY they are a criminal duo. Robbing rare artifacts with unique properties-- possibly linked to aliens/higher technology. Some of which involves rings that can send folk to and fro. It seems Earth is considered a bit of a backwater planet to more advanced races. So despite having spacefaring technology

EGGMAN is the mastermind, the foe of Sherlock Stones. Dramatic and determined to see Stones fall-- he poses the greatest threat to the world. He's really only whispered about in criminal circles. More myth than man. His tech is cutting edge. He's got a flair for the dramatic and genius inventions and perfect plans to get what he needs.

AGENT MOBIAN is his personal barista and bodyguard. keeping him safe from the common rabble. Mobian [Agent Stone] helps as a sounding board/punching bag for Eggman-- but it's just what they do in the movies anyway. They find an alien specimen in stasis and decide to try and figure out how to wake him up.

EGGMAN STEALS a series of artifacts and strange items, seemingly unrelated. Can anyone stop him? Stones seems to have gone cold lately-- withdrawing from the public eye as word of his flatmate getting married carries around.

OPTIONAL ADDITIONS/OTHER CHARACTER INTERACTIONS: IN THIS AU

SHADOW is eventually woken up and the two take him in as their successor with their civilian [heroic] identities. Framing him as an up and coming detective found by the two while trying to hunt down the Eggman.

[Feels] Shadow serves as the assistant/protegee of Sherlock Stones and Dr Robotnik. He bonds with Stones over a love of music. Stones plays his violin every night. He seems to warm up entirely and Shadow gets to see the side of him reserved for those moments with Ivo.

[Wholesome] Shadow sees how the two interact. He knows he's their protegee but he finds it odd the two can't see what's right in front of them. He joins Team Sonic in their matchmaking-- perhaps finding his own along the way [cue romcom energy].

[Canon] What'll be canon to the fic-- Shadow knows Robotnik is Eggman and it's all an act. Robotnik sees Shadow as a great tool in orchestrating the greatest finale anyone's ever seen. He has all he needs to complete his plans as Eggman and plans a dramatic send off for Sherlock Stones. The Reichenbach Fall.

SONIC, KNUCKLES, TAILS, OR AMY as the aspiring detectives. Ending up becoming heroes and helping to thwart/fight Eggman. They look up to Sherlock Stones and Doctor Robotnik [for now].

[Feels] They keep getting close to who Eggman might be [he's always running away before he can be caught, leaving some mechanical monstrosity in his wake]. Thankfully these kids are harder to be rid of than your standard shonen protagonist. They keep getting close until one day they witness the fall of Stones-- at the hands of one of Eggman's machines. Shadow gets added to the party, hungry for revenge.

[Wholesome] They see Stones and Dr Robotnik and go 'that's not just roommates' and try to play matchmaker with the two. Comedy can ensue as they keep nearly uncovering who Eggman is for various reasons.

[Canon] What'll end up being canon to the fic-- the trio/foursome come together and make their own detective agency. They seem to be on the trail of Eggman better than even Stones himself! Well-- they say he hasn't been the same since Robotnik ran off to inherit his grandfather's estate. All he does his brood in his flat and play the violin.

"Detective Comics" Gets New Creative Team and New Villain

DC Comics has announced a new creative team for Detective Comics as part of the "All In" initiative. Starting with Detective Comics #1090, the creative team will be writer Tom Taylor, artist Mikel Janín, and letterer Wes Abbott. The team will begin with a new storyline "Mercy of the Father," which will also introduce a new villain.

"Long ago, the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne changed Gotham forever. But there is something you never knew about the Dark Knight’s tragic origin—something that has been lying in wait to strike at Batman ever since that fateful night in Crime Alley. And now, all these years later, this ghost of Gotham’s past begins to reveal itself. Detective Pixane AU

Summary: PIXAL Borg is one of the best detectives in Ninjago City. She can solve any crime, fight any bad guy, save every person. That is, until, the Sons of Garmadon grow right under her nose and she meets the flirty criminal Snake Jaguar. And he’s the type of criminal that breaks a career, not makes them.

“Hello?”

Detective PIXAL perked up, turning away from the computer at the sound of the unfamiliar voice echoing through the empty police precinct.

PIXAL ran the voice through her memory banks and upon reaching a match she sighed and stood up, stretching her artificial joints before walking towards the entrance of the police station. “Yes? What is it you —” PIXAL’s smile dropped once she saw exactly who was at the front door. It wasn’t exactly the person themselves that made her pleasant smile fall, but rather what they were holding.

Right on the freshly waxed floors of the police station stood four of Ninjago’s greatest heroes, dressed in their brightly colored gi’s and holding a prisoner between them.

The Ninja looked extremely out of place, the Green Ninja’s feet shifting awkwardly and looking almost guilty while the Red Ninja merely crossed his arms. The Gray Ninja was holding the prisoner by the arm while the Blue Ninja stood a couple paces away, ready to zap him if he tried anything.

“Oh, hello, Ninja,” PIXAL settled on, because she didn't really know what to say. She kept her eyes fixed on the Green Ninja, steadfastly ignoring the prisoner gazing at her.

“Detective,” the Green Ninja nodded respectfully. “Sorry to bother you so late, but we recently apprehended one of the SOG members causing trouble while we were on patrol.”

“I understand,” PIXAL said. “Thank you again, Ninja. I’ll take care of the criminal.”

The Green Ninja nodded professionally and proceeded to shuffle out of precinct, looking more like an awkward teenager at his first school dance than the leader of an elite ninja task force. The rest of the Ninja bid their goodbyes, and soon it was just PIXAL and her newly acquired prisoner standing in the lobby.

PIXAL closed her eyes. 1… 2… 3

"You would think," Snake Jaguar said conversationally. "That dealing with all the hardened criminals on a day-to-day basis, your colleagues wouldn't be so afraid to pass me to you.” He smiled, blue eyes gleaming. “I am cuffed and harmless.”

"You,” PIXAL informed him flatly, “are the bane of my working life. And you are anything but harmless. Come. I need to revisit your file.” PIXAL grabbed his arm and dragged him to the interrogation room.

The precinct waiting room was empty apart from the two of them; it was late, with the Commissioner heading home and the rest of the officers calling it a night after they went over the reports the Ninja had deposited on of the most dangerous gang in Ninjago: The Sons of Garmadon. The Sons of Garmadon were a gang rising in prominence in Ninjago City. The threat levels were rising so quickly that the police force had grown concerned, and had to team up with Ninjago’s greatest protectors: The Ninja.

Now, PIXAL didn't mind the Ninja; they were vigilantes, but good people who risked their lives for others. They were a force to be reckoned with, going up against villains and winning with power, skill, and sheer willpower. They fought on when the police despaired but were still gracious enough to offer a hand and lend information to the police — even though it was clear that they could do more with the knowledge than the officers ever could.

What PIXAL did mind about them was how they kept bringing in a certain criminal to her, and how it was suddenly her job to extract information from him. Normally, PIXAL wouldn't mind this if it weren't for the fact that he was peculiarly flirtatious and always managed to escape the police after he had been apprehended.

PIXAL had tried to pass him off to her partner and half-brother, Cryptor, but he and Snake Jaguar had swiftly exploded into an argument that left both sides with more than a little animosity between the two. Not that PIXAL couldn't relate to Snake Jaguar’s bitterness — Cryptor was known to be antagonistic and temperamental. There was a reason she was partnered with him.

“Here we are,” PIXAL sighed as she reached the interrogation room and sat him down, still cuffed. The file slapped down on the table between them and she began flipping through his records.

Name: Unknown Alias: Snake Jaguar

Affiliation: The Sons of Garmadon

Allies: Rocky Dangerbuff, Mr. E, Ultra Violet, Killow, the Quiet One (?)

Profile: Criminal rose in the ranks of the gang after saving the life of SOG General Mr. E. He is a high-ranking member in the inner circle of the gang along with partner Rocky Dangerbuff. Information on the criminal before joining the Sons of Garmadon is unknown.

USE EXTREME CAUTION: Criminal is highly trained and able to escape the security measures

PIXAL frowned at the lack of information in the file. She tapped her fingers against the table, pursing her lips in focus. The portfolio of Snake Jaguar felt so vague, and left too many gaps. But PIXAL has seen him so frequently and she knew there was more to him. There was just so much going on, and so many open pieces of the puzzle. How can one know a person without truly knowing them?

"You look tired, detective," Snake Jaguar said softly. PIXAL broke out of her thoughts to see him watching her from across the table.

"Bane. Of. My. Working. Life."

“I could bribe someone to do the paperwork for you?”

PIXAL surprised herself by letting out a soft laugh, and through Snake Jaguar’s own surprise a pleased expression settled on his face. “Thank you, but I’ll do my own paperwork. You can help me by not committing crimes anymore.”

“Ah, but then how would I get an excuse to see you, detective?” Snake Jaguar teased back, at something inside her chest fluttered. Oh, she must be glitching again — that’s been happening more frequently while she’s questioning Snake Jaguar. She should probably check that out.

Before PIXAL can respond, there’s a screech of the door opening and Cryptor walked in. Quickly, PIXAL and Snake Jaguar straighten up, and to her horror she realized that she and Snake Jaguar had both been leaning towards each other from across the table.

"PIX, have you read the Ninja's reports from last week? It —" Cryptor stopped at the door, his red eyes flicking between PIXAL, who was promptly busying herself with paperwork, and Snake Jaguar, who was glaring right back at Cryptor.

PIXAL held her breath, waiting for the moment her brother would inevitably lose his cool and blow up …

“They dumped him back here again?” Cryptor scoffed derisively. He walked in, red eyes scoring across Snake Jaguar with contempt before turning to PIXAL. “As if the rest of us are equally equipped to deal with super villains. Bastards.”

PIXAL blinked. Well, that was unusually tame — for Cryptor’s standards, anyway. “We are nindroids, Cryptor. We are more than capable of taking care of gang members and lowlifes. I doubt the Ninja have found anything useful in their interrogation and handed him to us.”

“Leftovers,” Cryptor rolled his eyes. PIXAL shook her head. Unlike her, Cryptor was less fond of the Ninja — he had too much pride to ask for help and their partnership to take down the Sons of Garmadon more than aggravated him. PIXAL could understand where he was coming from, she supposed — this was the whole reason they were created. Cyrus Borg had only begun investing in AI when he saw how overwhelmed the police were with common crime.

While the Ninja were off defeating supervillains and saving the world, the police were struggling against common hoodlums. They didn’t even have any proper weapons! This was why PIXAL was created in the first place — her and Cryptor. They were made to assist, working with the police to create a safe place in Ninjago.

This was why Cryptor was so upset. The police had let the Sons of Garmadon — a simple biker gang — grow into power until they had to go asking the Ninja for help. They had failed their jobs, and now innocent people were at risk.

PIXAL shook her head again. Now was not the time to dwell on this.

“What was it you wanted to talk about, Cryptor?” She asked.

“It's about the Ninja,” he said, and his eyes flicked towards the prisoner. “I’ll tell you later, when you aren’t tied up with your … prisoner.”

PIXAL looked down, realizing for the first time that Snake Jaguar was still there, listening to the conversation intently. PIXAL felt a bolt of alarm. She had completely forgotten he was there. If he had heard something he could take back to his gang …

“Yes, that would make sense,” PIXAL nodded curtly. “Are you finished for the night?”

Cryptor nodded. “Unless you need help with that one?” He arched an eyebrow.

PIXAL shook her head. “No, that’s alright. I can handle him. I’ve done so before.”

Cryptor was already turning away and walking out the door. “Just don’t overwork yourself and stay up too late. You’ll just burn yourself out for tomorrow and be useless,” he said gruffly.

PIXAL shook her head, unable to hide the small smile against her lips. She knew he was concerned for her, in his uncouth way. “Goodnight, Cryptor.”

The nindroid slammed the door closed in response.

PIXAL turned towards Snake Jaguar to find his crystal blue eyes already upon her. A sense of almost anticipation swept through her, and it lingered throughout the entire room they were alone in. “You heard what he said. We’ve wasted enough time. Stand.”

Snake Jaguar stood from the chair he was sitting in during the exchange and walked towards her, hands cuffed from behind his back as PIXAL began thoroughly patting him down. Her hands traveled along the planes of his body, folding into leather and pockets and pulling out all matters of utensils to help him escape — anything could be a weapon. PIXAL could feel his eyes burning into her — bright blue orbs of knowledge that tracked her movements, drank in every detail of her; from the tips of her silver hair to the purple wirings on her cheeks to the green glow of her eyes.

PIXAL didn't turn to face the criminal. “Stop that.”

“Stop what?”

“Stop looking at me like that.” PIXAL tried to steel some authority in her voice. “You are beginning to get on my nerve circuits. Are you going to be staring at me the whole time?”

“Only if you continue to feel me up,” Snake Jaguar responded amusedly.

PIXAL cannot stop the indignant gasp at the shameless insinuation. “I am not feeling you up!” She glared fiercely.

“Oh no? This is the fourth time you’re feeling my chest,” Snake Jaguar’s eyes were very bright.

“One can never be too thorough when it comes to you,” PIXAL snapped back. She keeps her hands very professional as she searches his jacket pockets to come up empty.

Snake Jaguar let out an amused hum before falling silent. After a moment, he suddenly asked, “Who is he to you?”

“What?” PIXAL looks up from her searching at the sudden question. Snake Jaguar stares back at her, unusually serious.

“Your police partner, Cryptor. Who is he to you?”

“Why do you ask?”

“Just curious. He seems to care about you a great deal. You seem close.” Snake Jaguar averted his eyes. “At least, as close to someone with his personality can be.”

PIXAL paused in her searching, turning up to stare at him. Her processors whirred, trying to come up with a reason why he would ask something like that out of nowhere. An idea came to the forefront of her mind and she smirked.

“Cryptor can be prickly, I’ll admit. But that just makes the moments he’s not all the more special. He is simply very serious about his job.”

“As are you!” Snake Jaguar retorted. “And yet you do not get as temperamental as him.”

“Cryptor is only tempermental because he is frustrated. He is passionate about his job and is very good at it.” PIXAL said calmly.

“It seems you care about him a great deal,” Snake Jaguar said icily. It suddenly felt as if the room had dropped several degrees in temperature.

“Indeed. Cryptor is my partner at the police force,” PIXAL said lightly. “And my half-brother.”

She felt Snake Jaguar stop at her words, and was grateful her face was turned away from him so he couldn’t see her smirk.

“Your half-brother?” He repeated.

“Yes, that’s what you call it, isn’t it?” PIXAL hummed, more focused on searching the criminal for any weapons than the conversation at hand. “Someone created from the same source, yet different? Cryptor and I were both made from Mr. Borg, but we are both different in ways that can only be discerned as being half-siblings.”

“Does that bother you?”

“Not at all. Cryptor and I both love each other, in our own way. It is what it is.”

“Do you have any other siblings?” Snake Jaguar asked curiously.

This time PIXAL looked up, narrowing her bright green eyes suspiciously. “You seem awfully invested in knowing about my family, Snake Jaguar. Any reason I should know why?”

He quickly shook his head, and PIXAL found the action oddly endearing. “No! Not at all. I was just curious. I just …” he trailed off, looking frustrated. At himself, at the situation, or at her, she didn’t know. “I just want to get to know you.”

PIXAL blinked, surprised, and something strange glitched in her chest. She must be malfunctioning again. She looked down again to hide the small smile growing on her face as a pleasant feeling bloomed in her chest.

“I have a younger brother.”

Snake Jaguar looked surprised that she even answered, but soon a bright smile lit up on his face. “You do?”

PIXAL nodded. “Yes, shared between Cryptor and I. His name is Mindroid.”

“Why is he called that?”

PIXAL’s memory banks were suddenly flooded with the jokes Cryptor said once they met their honorary little brother for the first time, and she couldn’t quite hide the grin that grew on her face. “Because he’s short.”

Snake Jaguar barked out a laugh, and PIXAL could not help the amused giggles that escaped her as she remembers Mindroid’s enraged and indignant face whenever Cryptor would call him “half-pint” or “toaster” or “last out of the factory line and ran out of scrap metal”.

When their laughter finally faded, PIXAL looked up to see Snake Jaguar already watching her. His crystal blue eyes were bright as he looked at her, and his smile was soft.

“You are beautiful when you smile like that,” he said. PIXAL was taken aback with how gentle his voice sounded. How fond . “I’ve never met anyone quite like you. You’re amazing.”

Snake Jaguar hummed in acknowledgement, not taking his eyes of PIXAL as he let her step back to regain herself.

PIXAL cannot quite stop the small gasp that leaves her at that, staring up at him with wide eyes. "R-right." PIXAL’s voice processor must be damaged. She never stuttered. "I think you're all done."

No, that was absurd. Not let. He was cuffed. He had no weapons on his person and no key to escape. He may be a skilled fighter, but he was no ninja, nor Elemental Master.

A shiver went down PIXAL’s spine at the thought.

"Come along," the detective said. "You know how it goes by now."

"Indeed." The Snake Jaguar’s head tilted. "You know, there is a reason that the Ninja keep dropping me off on your shift instead of interrogating me themselves. You know that, right?"

PIXAL froze.

Suddenly, it all made sense.

The Green Ninja’s apologetic looks.

The Red Ninja’s flirty winks.

The Gray Ninja’s amused eyes.

The Blue Ninja's excited glances.

"Just something to think about," Snake Jaguar said cheerfully, then walked off in the direction of the cells. "Now, come lock me up."

PIXAL released a shaky breath and quickly hurried after him.

She was going to murder the Ninja.

LONDON (AP) — Once again, Austin Stowell is having the best day ever — all thanks to him winning the role of legendary TV character Leroy Jethro Gibbs in “NCIS: Origins.”

“Since I got this job, it has just been day after day after day of the greatest day of my life,” says Stowell, smiling.

The actor has his shoulders back and chest up to portray the ex-Marine-turned-naval investigator, set 25 years before audiences first met “NCIS” star Mark Harmon.

Harmon and his son Sean are behind the idea of this origin story of the special agent, who was on-screen for 19 seasons from 2003 to 2021, solving crimes for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Virginia.

Stowell says he’ll be doing his best to live up to the role Harmon made famous and give viewers a new perspective on “how the hero was born.”

Harmon, who narrates and pops up occasionally in the show, has been very supportive of Stowell, making himself available to chat about life, visiting the set and even texting (something technophobic Gibbs would never).

“Mark and I talk a lot about what it means to be the leader of a team, about what it means to be a leader of this set and crew,” he says. “Those conversations have been invaluable to me because I don’t know what it’s like. I’ve never been No. 1 on a TV show before.”

The lessons he’s learned: be on time, be kind, respectful and professional.

He’s also studied up on the “NCIS” universe, something he knew about but wasn’t yet a super fan.

In a pop quiz Stowell correctly names all the franchise’s four spin-off shows and only stumbles when it comes to rule three of Gibbs’ famous guidelines: “Never believe what you are told.”

As for the enduring audience appeal of Gibbs, Stowell reckons it comes down to his humanity.

“Gibbs doesn’t wear a cape. He just has to use his brain and use his heart. I would argue that that makes him the most super of the heroes because it’s real. It’s something that we can all accomplish.”

“NCIS: Origins” isn’t just the procedural that people know and love, says Stowell, despite it having all the crime-solving and fun banter of the franchise.

His co-stars and fellow NIS investigators (the C hadn’t been added in 1991 when the show starts) include Mariel Molino as Lala Dominguez and Caleb Foote’s Randy.

It’s Gibbs’ first job since leaving the Marines. He’s got personal trauma and a big reputation, but he’s also got the sniper focus and built-in lie detector needed to be an integral part of this mystery solving team based at Camp Pendleton, headed up by Kyle Schmid’s charismatic Mike Franks.

“I just got to play this for the first time ... the other night where I look at a character and I just go, ‘You know, don’t you?’ And just get to bury them in my eyes,” Stowell says, laughing.

Those eyes have been enhanced by special contact lenses to provide the correct “Mark Harmon crystal blue.”

“NCIS: Origins,” which debuts Monday on CBS, has been shooting for three and half months. In that time Stowell has come to realize the parallels between himself and Gibbs, a character who mistrusts technology, loves nature and spends years building a boat in his basement.

Welcome to Year of the Bat! In honor of Kevin Conroy, Arleen Sorkin, and Richard Moll, I’ve been counting down my Top 31 Favorite Episodes of “Batman: The Animated Series” throughout this January.

  TODAY’S EPISODE QUOTE: “So, it wasn’t all for nothing.” Number 9 is…Beware the Gray Ghost!

This is one of the greatest and most renowned episodes of the Animated Series…but as of these recent years, it’s also become one of the most difficult to talk about. In some ways, this episode is even more profoundly impacting now than it ever was before. It’s funny, because the reason(s) for this, I’m sure, will be lost on many future Batman fans; they will never know just how big a deal this episode was when it came out, and how big a deal it is now in this given year. Thankfully, however, those points will not detract from the greatness of this story on its own terms, and a great story is exactly what it is. In this episode, Batman finds out about a series of bombings, committed by a mysterious villain simply referred to as “The Mad Bomber.” He recognizes the crimes as being almost identical, in every way, to the attacks of a fictional villain in a TV series that Bruce Wayne loved dearly as a child, “The Gray Ghost.” To try and solve the case, Batman gets help from the Gray Ghost’s original actor, an aging performer by the name of Simon Trent. Simon has seen better days, as the combo of his typecasting and other personal issues have led to him falling on hard times, and he’s grown bitter about the role that once made him a household name. Batman must find a way to not only stop the Mad Bomber, but reinvigorate Trent’s spirits, as he teams with the Gray Ghost himself to end the crime spree.

Much like the later “Legends of the Dark Knight,” this is an episode that essentially pays homage to Batman’s roots, but in a much more subtle way. I guess I can’t go any further without bringing up the big point: the voice of Simon Trent. It’s none other than Adam West: the original 1960s Batman. The creators of B:TAS were huge fans of the original Adam West series, and odes and homages to the show are sprinkled throughout, some more obvious than others. Trent’s character is one of the biggest examples, as his fictional foibles are a sort of exaggerated mirror of how West’s own career and life went after the 60s series ended. It goes even deeper than that, however: the Gray Ghost himself is a thinly-veiled parody of The Shadow, a character I’ve mentioned many times in the past, who was one of the main inspirations for Batman as a character. (The first Batman comic ever made was an outright ripoff of a Shadow story. No joke, look it up.) Even the villain of the piece feels more like something out of the Shadow than your typical Batman tale, let alone the silly sixties. It’s a double-homage, in a sense, to two great influences on the creators of B:TAS.

This is also what makes the episode hard to watch now: Adam West has been dead for only a few years now, yet, and Kevin Conroy’s passing is still even more painfully recent. You can’t watch this episode as a Batman fan without feeling a sort of pang, realizing not only the significance of two of the greatest Batmen in history onscreen together, but the fact that both are no longer with us. In a weird way, though, that makes the episode even more powerful, because of what the whole story is really about: nostalgia. The way nostalgia effects all three of the main characters in the story – Batman, the Gray Ghost, and the Mad Bomber alike – is a BIG part of this story. Trent is someone who tries to shun the past, who feels pained when he looks back, and has to come to terms with the fact the world has changed, and he has to change, too. He’s haunted by the role that made him once iconic, while also dealing with the issue of being seemingly obsolete, no longer sure of who he is or what his life has truly become. The Bomber, meanwhile, is the opposite extreme: without giving away who it is, it’s someone who clings TOO CLOSE to the past, and to the things they loved in youth, and that obsession drives them to toxic self-destruction, not to mention acts of cruelty and spite. It’s probably not a coincidence that Bruce Timm, one of the show’s creators – a fan of the 60s series – plays this character; a sort of self-parody in the form of the world’s most unsettling fanboy.

It's Batman himself who shows the value of nostalgia and the balance of where it needs to fall: he clings close to his past, as we know, and the Gray Ghost character and series is revealed to be no exception. But he doesn’t allow these things to rule him or destroy him. For people who grew up with Kevin Conroy and Adam West alike, this episode shows just what made both of them such special actors, and reminds us of why both of their respective takes on Batman were so interesting, while also providing a fascinating story that combines all kinds of tonal elements to create an intriguing and entertaining tale. But above all, it serves as a lesson in the dangers and the values of what we keep close in our memories. I think it’s fair to say that everything about this episode – it’s actors, it’s inspirations, and the series it hails from – will be a treasured, nostalgic memory for many years to come.

Oswald then secretly goes to Commissioner Lobe to hire one of his best F.B.I Agents to capture Batman was Edward Nygma. Penguin showed Edward that Batman existed and knows what the drugs come from and sold to Falcones' men. This gives Edward an idea and would do it with his favorite games as he said all he ever needs is a few hostages and Thugs. “And as right now Agent Nygma has retired, you can call me, The Riddler!” While Batman is on his night potrall in Gotham, He suddenly gets a hacking call from Riddler and challenges him to solve his puzzles and riddles. Batman dosn’t take him seriously at first, Riddler reveals he has kidnapped victims and threatens to kill them if he doesn't play along. Batman reached the first victim to save then get ambushed by a group of thugs. After defeating them, Batman interrogates the thug telling what Riddler is. Then the thug explains that at the end of each crime, he left a riddle at its place. By using his batcomputer, and his own detective skills, Batman managed to solve the riddles and save only half the hostages. Then it seemed to reveal a location where half of the hostages were in an abandoned maze, where Riddler gives an upgrade to it. Batman then gets to the Maze to encounter The Riddler in person *wearing his suit, Question Mark on Bowler hat and Tie and a question mark cane* Riddler then challenged the Dark Knight to survive his deadly challenge. Batman was able to solve all the riddles and save the hostages. Riddler admits he was working for Penguin and turned himself in without a fight.

But luckily later he was back on the streets ether before and after Dr Deaths defeat, placing Riddles and Puzzles to show him that his crimes were the opportunity to claim his supremacy to all of Gotham. But thanks to Batman involving his plans, Each of Riddlers operations were stopped by Batman. He had a big rivalry with The Joker because he proven to be jealous from the fact that he was supposed to be Batman’s greatest enemy. This leads up to an full out war between him and The Joker. His most operations of the war between violence and impossible riddles. He even come to close into killing Kite-Man’s son over information of The Joker. After the war was over and transferred to Arkham with the other villains, He continues his crimes with Riddles to prove his superiority.

Dark Cowl, AKA Jerry Rockefeller, age 55, is the only famous Superhero around, as he basically bought his way to fame with his massive inherited fortune. With his parents mysteriously out of the way, he's built a multi-media empire full of movies, cars, and other stuff based on his occasional exploits as a hero utilizing his myriad gadgets (grappling hooks, throwing blades, smoke bombs, etc.) to beat up poor pe-er, bad guys. But because he has no filter to speak of, his PR messes have recently piled up. Nothing a well-timed "team-up" with a local Superhero can't solve! While he and Flying Brick may be partners now, that doesn't mean he isn't going to take the glory for himself. Dark Cowl fancies himself a beacon of what the ideal man is. There are two wolves inside him and one of them is his boyfriend. His supervillain shtick's all about crafting intricate puzzle traps, but his arch-nemesis is a guy who solves problems by running at them naked and screaming, so their battles of will sometimes turn into battles of whether Webtoon’s gonna ban this issue for too many bare ass shots again. One time he fused with his greatest enemy to became a god and that god immediately exploded. Widely considered to be the most outrageous fashion disaster in a comic universe that also contains Igor “Flat Cap” Grom, Oleg “Novelty Wolf Shirt” Volkov, Altan “Solid Gold Wallet Chain” Dagbaev, and Poet’s whole situation. He is not allowed to play chess ever again, because of the horrors. If the comic ever gets popular in English-speaking fandom circles his irresistible pathetic wet kitten sex appeal combined with his undeniably problematic writing in early episodes will create a new flavor of discourse so caustic that it eats through the framework of social media-based fandom, leaving a sinkhole that will allow us to escape back to Geocities webrings where we belong.

Stars lit up the window, creating a view like none other but, more eye catching than any other star, was the sight of Earth, floating there in all of its various hues of blue, green and brown. It was so gorgeous that Ladybug zoned out of the conversation as she thought of how to best depict the colors of Earth in an outfit. 

“-bug. Ladybug!” Superman’s voice finally brought her out of her trance.

She jumped slightly before responding. “Yes! Sorry, what is it?” 

Superman gave a little chuckle because all new timers were like that at first. “We were just saying congratulations on becoming a member of the Justice League.” He expected awe, happiness, maybe even a little shock. What stared back at him was none of those emotions.

“What?” Her head tilted to the side as she tried to understand what was going on. “Why am I being inducted into the Justice League?”

Superman looked at Wonder Woman. This wasn’t something that happened often and he wasn’t sure what to do. Knowing distress when she sees it Wonder Woman stepped in to explain. “Because of your valor, sharp wit, selflessness, and abilities, the core members have decided to offer you membership into the league. Be honored Little Ladybug,” she placed a hand on the young girl’s shoulder. “You’ll stand amongst the greatest warriors of Earth in order to defend it.”

Ladybug stepped away from the duo before trying to ease the tension gathering on her forehead. “I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Did none of you talk to Batman or Robin before deciding this? I thought I made my stance on this very clear to them.”

“They’re dealing with a lot of Rogue problems in Gotham right now, so we excused Batman and his team from any decision making for the time being.” Superman explained. “Why, what’s the issue?”

“I’m not joining the league, now or ever.” This time it was the two of them who were confused. “First of all, I just entered college and the league is a full-time commitment I do not have the energy or time for. And secondly,” she held up her hand when Superman was about to protest. “The miraculouses are not meant to be governed by an external force.”

“What do you mean, Ladybug?” Wonder Woman questioned.

“I mean, that I can’t work under someone, when I have to take responsibility as the guardian of the miraculouses. If I join the JL, there will be the expectation that the Justice League has control over the miraculouses, who wields them, where they are stored and so forth. Not only is that a ridiculous amount of power, all controlled by one group, but you all have no clue how to properly deal with the miraculouses.”

“That's a big assumption on your part, Ladybug. We can give you full autonomy over the miraculouses as that is your duty. Joining the League will give you greater access to resources to help you solve crime.”

She shook her head again. “I’m willing to be allies, but how will the rest of the world react to you gaining such powerful magic? The world needs to understand that if the Justice League is compromised, I can step in to save people. Batman agrees with me on this.”

Superman sighed as Batman once again made his way into another failsafe against the League. “Well, we can’t force you. But I thought you would have been happy, being in the League with your fiance.”

“Please. We see enough of each other already. If I had to fight crime with him too, on a regular basis, I think we’d get sick of each other.” Wonder Woman and Superman shared a look, was she dense or simply too close to see how much Robin actually cared?

Of course, there's no better way to cope with a hard breakup and recover from a five-month-long coma than by being forced by the Consortium to enlist a team of fellow contract agents for a covert operation to solve a centuries-old cold case involving the mysterious disappearance of the Milky Way's enigmatic savior.

One in particular, however, captures their spirit immediately and becomes a fast friend—Everett, another loner who does a rather impressive job of hiding his own tragedy behind a cheerful and warm exterior. We also leap all the way back into 1975, another life, another universe, where Devin and Everett are attempting to navigate the country in search of love and home…which could very well be with each other.

The Increasingly Disastrous Continued Existence of One Misfortunate Sol

Every living companion Solomon Maxwell Iron ever moved in with has died. The police can't figure it out, Detective Calvin Logan can't figure it out, and Sol certainly can't figure it out. So it's almost no wonder that upon taking a job at an opulent hotel in order to have room and board, the guests and staff are trapped in the hotel and begin to drop like flies. Poor misfortunate Sol is stuck with Detective Logan as the case continues to elude them, and the game is officially afoot or at hand or whatever body parts you choose to exploit.
