The Great HC-TCG Tournament Finale of Season 9

1/2 of a collaborative work betweeen @shirahoshiumi and myself for the Event Section of @hermitseasonzine !

This work is a two parter dedicated to the beginning of Hermitcraft TCG by VintageBeef. In this one - I drew the background and Hoshi drew the hermits of the SECOND HALF to this series so be sure to check our other piece FIRST!

An slight in-depth breakdown into some of the design decisions when translating Cub's TCG arena from minecraft to proper architecture for our composition!

Drawing the UI of all the screen would be one of the last things added to the bg. While most of the hermit profiles I did to follow Hoshi's designs, designs of other artists and hermits you can find throughout the zine.

Season 9 was my first exposure to Hermitcraft and to be able to see it through to the end not to mention be a part of a such a beautiful tribute to the season I am grateful. BIIIG honours to have worked on two fantastic pieces with Hoshi, huge shoutout to the other contributors, and many thanks to the mod team for making sure everything stays running ^_^

Hoenn is full of water and great starter pokemon, but alas Sootopolis is only full of magikarp. Surely the strangers here for their last gym badge would let me keep my lunch money?

Found some time to quickly sketch this out for @modmad ‘s pokemon starter challenge :) mod if you see this I hope you know TPOH and Skip blew my mind when I read them (and still do) thanks for inspiring me to try and make my art more fun!

My dream starter would probably be a vulpix or lampent, but realistically? A pidove or magikarp, both of which are still fantastic pokemon! I went with magikarp because I recently found out the blind ol’ behemoth of a koi fish living in my grandma’s koi pond is still alive. It’s been hiding under some rocks for months.

Every other koi from my childhood has reached the end of their lifespan but not this old thing! That fish is older than me and I’m convinced it will outlive all of us. If it was a magikarp it would definitely be a gyarados by now.

Honestly I'm astounded that nobody has taken that name yet.

Do you dislike the look of vanilla Skyrim horses? Are you tired of riding some kind of Clydesdale/Belgian/Cob thing around fantasy Scandinavia for no clear reason? Do you want your beloved and loyal horse to stand out from the crowd as much as you do? Well great news, this mod covers all of those things.

Basically I made some significant edits to the horse model including a fuller, longer mane and tail, redone feathering, somewhat more realistic conformation, and entirely redone ears because at a certain point it was just easier to make new ones. None of the changes affect how the horse fits the vanilla rig so it still bends and moves without distorting weirdly. The textures are entirely painted from scratch and have new normals to go with them that are meant to give the horses a somewhat softer, more natural look that still fits with Skyrim's general vibe. I used references of primarily North Swedish and Dole horses, but also borrowed from the wider range of colors and patterns in Icelandics because I couldn't give up the pintos.

Current Features:

Asymmetrical coats/markings, because I fully redid the UV while I was messing with the mesh (mostly because mirrored pinto horses in video games are the bane of my existence)

Distinct meshes for mares and stallions, the mare model is closer to the vanilla horse's conformation, while the stallion model has a slightly bulkier build and thicker neck, and a an unobtrusive low poly dong.

Five generic solid-coated textures that appear on most NPC horses in the world.

Unique texture for each purchasable player horse

Unique texture and model for Frost (he's now a mealy chestnut as his papers claim)

Unique Shadowmere

Unique Karinda (this mod does NOT add Karinda into the game, but her texture should show up if you have CRF or another mod that does add her, as long as it doesn't alter her texture or base model)

Unique Hearthfire stable horses (purchasable through the steward)

Unique unsaddled stable horse in Markarth because uh, I just felt like it

Unique coats for a growing number of modded follower horses (see the mod page for the list)

Compatibility:

This mod should be compatible with most things, though for best results it should be loaded after any mod that affects vanilla horse records (this isn't always obvious; SkyTEST has no visible affect on vanilla horses, but if you load it after this mod the unique player horses will have generic coats). Most mods that add new horses use the existing vanilla records, so unless a modded horse has a unique model (and assuming it doesn't have a unique coat addon) it should be replaced automatically with the edited model and one of the generic coats. That isn't always the case, sometimes another mod gets weird with it and there's nothing I can do about that, but in those cases a patch will likely be needed.

This mod will NOT be compatible with any other mod that changes the appearance of the vanilla horses or replaces their models/textures.

I will not personally be making patches for other mods because there's no way I could possibly keep up with that and I'd rather spend the time and energy on the mod itself, however I encourage anyone else who wants to to make whatever patches are needed. Please message me if you do so I can link them here for people to find.

H/D Erised 2024 Stats Post!

Hi phenomenal @hd-erised community! Our Anonymous Masterlist posted yesterday, and reveals will be up on Sunday, January 5th, so there's still plenty of time to catch up on any of the submissions you might have missed before then! While we're all waiting eagerly to find out who did what, may we interest you in some stats for the 2024 fest? :D

This year we had a total of 44 submissions: 8 beautiful pieces of art, and 35 fantastic fics, and one lovely submission which did both!! Let's dig into the details, shall we?

Fanart Stats:

This year we had 8 gorgeous digital art pieces. The average submission from our amazing artists this year was ~12 pages, with our longest comic coming in at 44 pages!! The total number of pages we had between all of our art submissions was 109, so definitely loads to enjoy! We're so impressed with all of the fantastic art we've had this year, and we hope that you are too!

This year we had a total of 35 total stories created for this wonderful fest, for an astounding total of:

~1,249,000 words!!!

That's way more than one million words of Harry and Draco loving on each other and getting up to all sorts of shenanigans! Are you impressed with the dedication of our spectacular writers? Because we sure are!

Our shortest fic this year was 2.6k, while our longest was ~143k! The average fic length this year was ~30k, which is a bit lower than last year, and 17 of the fics this year were below 25k—a perfect size for a day's read! :D

And once again, the smut has come out on top! (Or on the bottom, as the case may be…)

In those stories, Harry and Draco got up to all sorts of activities in all sorts of places. We had facials and fingering and frottage, wanking and rimming, hand jobs and blow jobs, and of course anal sex (sometimes with gagging or felching or monsterfucking). Of the fics where there was penetration, Draco bottomed about 1.5x more than Harry, but, as always, they certainly were versatile!

And that versatility isn't limited to the bedroom (or any of the other places these boys got up to their shenanigans!); we also saw it in their careers. As we've seen in years past, Harry's most popular career of choice was Auror (12 fics—though sometimes we saw a career switch for him!), but he also had a variety of other jobs, including: man of leisure, magical landscaper, woodworker, professional Quidditch player, professor (or PE teacher, thank you very much), and a magi-geologist, amongst other things!

Draco, on the other hand, as usual held a much wider variety of careers. His most popular career was an Quidditch player/coach (at only 3 fics!). He was also a Sanguinologist, professor, barrister, wandmaker, Mala-cologist, magical preservationist, and a DRAGON among the rest!

Once again, our most popular time period by a landslide was Post-Hogwarts EWE with 31 fics set after the boys have left Hogwarts and ignoring (or mostly ignoring) the Epilogue, with 3 set in 8th year and 1 canon rewrite. That's 88% set post-Hogwarts!! 

Incredible, right? We're so impressed with all of our marvelous participants!!

I had a great time participating in the Zutara Big Bang 2024. This year, I decided to follow in what seems to be my own personal tradition for this event and write a story that somehow involves spirit world shenanigans. I promise, I'm not actually doing this on purpose. It just happened.

I do think the first preview was eaten by my inbox my apologies but OHHH LOOK AT THEM GO! Seeing their sprites take inspiration from Starlo's grants me so much serotonin, they got that silly cowboy walk and now they can walk in all directions. These look fantastic! Love the little bounce of their hat feather and ponytail, great details as always.

The sideburns look absolutely fine, please don't apologize! The fact that you're making all of these wonderful sprites is something I appreciate a lot and love seeing. I mean it when I say I would happily play any game or mod that uses your work in it!

Hello! Your post on facial differences was really helpful and eye-opening. I’m trying to amend the designs of my characters whom I’ve now noticed fall into those harmful tropes, and I was wondering what the opinion on facial tattoos is vis-a-vis stereotyping. Specifically I mean tattoos that are purely aesthetic (not done to cover a scar or anything) and not of any design that would mirror FD - in this case they’re just flowers, on a typical-looking face. (While I don’t want to contribute to erasure by simply removing the character’s scars, they are very necessarily a villain in the story, and I’d rather not contribute to harmful representation instead.) I definitely don’t want to just switch actual FD for FD-coding that does the same nasty job.

I think that tattoos are completely fine, and making your villain have tattoos instead of a facial difference is a great idea.*

(*Obligatory exception to this statement - please don't switch a villain's FD for tattoos like tā moko or tunniit. That only creates different problems.)

I'm of the opinion that sometimes it's fine to "erase" a particular trait during the character making process if said trait would be harmful or offensive. Personally, I actually prefer that writers un-FD their villains. I do believe that the harm the "evil person with a facial difference" trope brings is greater than the representation that it could.

(Other people might still consider it erasure and disagree with me here. Opinions differ, as they do in every community. But I think that most people will understand why you decided to go with that.)

I appreciate that you're looking for solutions to fix some of the issues you've previously run into - if you have any other concerns or questions, feel free to send another ask (I promise I will try to answer faster than I did with this one, sorry).

Hello! May I ask how you have your NRASS settings for your decades challenge? And how you cater your game in the sims 3 with the challenge

Hello anon!

Thank you for this question, I wouldn't consider myself an expert on medieval-style gameplay at all lol there are definitely many more people in the community more knowledgable than me! But I've done my best to detail some resources along with my NRAAS settings below, I hope this helps! <3

In terms of how I cater my game for the challenge, I have a lot of historical replacements and cc which make things look more immersive,

If you want a few recommendations:

Zoe22's Off-Grid Plumbing, Buzzler's Scribbling Pad & Functional Washboard

All of Danjaley's stuff! They've been the GOAT in the sims 3 medieval community for a long time and have some great CC including lots of defaults, their CC finds blog is also a fantastic resource for other peoples stuff

JoojConverts also has some great medieval (and other historical periods) clothing & objects

Omedapixel has some essential historical defaults and other great medieval CC!

MsPoodle has some great historical defaults and medieval CC

This sims medieval total object conversion pack & this functional fireplace / cauldron conversion are really great bits of CC converted from TSM

Declaration of Dramas has some fab medieval CC along with a few medieval mods to enhance your gameplay, such as adding a whole religion system!

Ani's Sims has lots of mods which fit in really well with medieval-style gameplay, adding hunting, digging for treasure, blacksmiths, woodcutters and loads more!

Random Default Replacements: Clothesline / Fishing Rod / Music Tips Jar / Paintings / Baby Blanket

Arsil's no cellphones mod / No answer calls mod are really useful as cellphones are one thing which just break my immersion so much!

The carpool disabler is also pretty useful

Feyerin made a bunch of medieval-style careers to be used in conjunction with the NRAAS careers mod

The Merrye Makers on MTS have made a whole bunch of medieval CC and mods I really reccomend!
