hi there… it’s been a while! i’ve been really busy being depressed about my exams but i got all their results back!!

chemistry: A

biology: B

maths: A

possible predicted grades: AAA

i’m really happy with these grades! i thought i’d fail these exams LOL. i got the minimum grades to do medicine in most unis in UK, which i am really happy about ! 💋

on that note, i’m going to stay active on here since i’ll be doing more studying now! (i’ve had a 2 week long break after those exams where i didn’t touch a single pen or paper)!!

OH I DIDNT REALIZE IM TECHNICALLY GRADUATING AND AM ALMOST DONE WITH HIGH SCHOOL NEXT WEEK. THE FUCK

thoroughly convinced my professor has a hard on for failing people in this music history class that's only offered once a year and not offered online anywhere. 45% course weighting on an exam that hasn't been changed since he got here, causing all of us to run out of time, when he's already explained that he expects us to do poorly and even fail the first exam. several people got 20-40% on the exam btw. and the icing on the fuckin cake is that our assignments are not even worth points. they have a 0% weighting. we're just doing these 4 page summaries on 20 page academic literature and it's not even worth anything. he won't even let it help our grades. he's proudly boasted about how he's not afraid to fail anyone and that he'd dig up his grandma and fail her. like dude this is insane

im gonna be competing with like 160k people to get into this university and i really picked the hardest course to get into as my first choice but im just going to think of how amazing i will feel if i actually manage to get in there

So I knew the American physical education system was fucked up by my gods it really has fucked me up for life like

I am fat. That's just a thing, ya know? And gym class always sucked for me because I needed to get a good grade in Being FitTM but I was (and still am) fat and so gym was a struggle for me. Between trying to keep up for my grade and trying to keep up so people wouldn't make fun of me, my relationship with fitness was just incredibly fucked up since the moment I entered school

Nothing has made this more apparent to me than me being in a boxing class today thinking "you need to keep going otherwise you're going to get a bad grade" and like. I paid for this class. The trainer was an absolute sweetheart and encouraged us to rest or modify the exercise if we needed to. But my brain kept going "push yourself harder you need to be good or you'll fail and everyone will make fun of you" as if a class I paid for full of adults I don't know would really result in that

The American education sucks for a LOT of reasons. But fuck American physical education even more than the rest of it. It makes it impossible to actually be active

dunno if you're still active in aa just wanted to tell you i've been staring at all your athenas and you are so correct and smart. put that child in jail.

i havent drawn a lot of aa lately but im definitely still in the fandom and athena cykes is still my number one character that no one gets like i do. ninjago hyperfixation has been HEAVY but hopefully itll lighten up and ill get back into drawing athena, especially because im not done with my athena is arrested au by any means (ive written 26k words for a fic of it like atp im too deep in to let it go).

thank you so much for the ask because it means a lot to me to hear that people still like my aa stuff!! ,,,and this ask is now making me want to draw more athena again.. oh how i miss her. im so glad you agree she deserves to go to prison. i have so many ideas planned for the au but im hoping the fic will be a good means of revealing them :)

also on a more general note, art from me is likely to slow down because i have exams coming up in a month that determine if i get into university so i should probably revise for them. what this means in terms of athena is arrested au is that a lot of work will have to wait until after june.. so stay tuned if u remember

not to rant on here again but how can my uni justify having exams that arent comparable but will get people the same degree. like. my friend and i are both getting a masters in psych and we can choose three modules out of five available ones. we did the same except for one module. for the one he chose he had such a simple exam where the prof mostly talked to himself, asked easy questions and he got the best grade comfortably (ofc he prepared but it was comparably comfortable). now for me i have the hardest fucking exam in my entire uni career, the prof expects us to be Experts in this field she has made multiple people cry before in her exams and its So Much Input that i have to study all while this grade weighs the same as my friends grade in the easy module like ???????? how can this happen fr how can they let exams be so biased. their entire grading system is bullshit

since i just rb'd a poll abt high school grades now's probably a good time to drop one of my many million-dollar ideas for how to run a high school classroom, which is that i think that at the start of a quarter/semester kids should be asked if they want hw to count towards their grades or not bc i was So Fucking Bad at submitting hw in high school, but my test scores were really good, so i'd rather have not had hw count towards my grades. but obviously there are a good number of kids who are either bad at taking tests or anxious abt their grades dropping and are diligent abt turning in hw, so letting hw count towards their grades would give them some padding in that situation.

Reason for running this blog and a short story of my academic downfall.

•The primary motivation behind starting this blog is my way of dealing with a rough patch in my academics. I used to be an A-grade student until 8th grade, but then COVID hit, and I made some not-so-great choices. I pretty much skipped 9th grade, regretting it later. Despite a close call in 10th grade, salvaging an above 80% score in the board exams, the subsequent year, 11th grade, witnessed a further decline with a 65% result—a percentile mirrored by a significant proportion of students, with only a marginal 2% achieving scores surpassing 70%.

•Now, in 12th grade, things aren't looking much better. I enjoy studying, especially Biology, and I can handle Chemistry okay-ish. However, Physics is a whole different story. I don't hate the subject, but the numerical part is my kryptonite. I like the theory part, but when it comes to calculations, I'm lost. To sum it up, my Bio is decent, Chem is okay, and Physics is a struggle – might even fail if I don't do something about it soon.

•In summary, my academic profile manifests as a mixed bag. Biology stands as a bastion of relative strength, Chemistry occupies a middling ground with potential for improvement, while Physics, languishing in the abyss, demands urgent attention to avert a potential failure.

•This blog will be my space to share this academic rollercoaster, figure out what went wrong, and hopefully get some advice from others who've been through it.

Two math/physics students I have tutored in the last year have been hired as peer tutors this semester. Both of them took calc 2 in the spring and are taking calc 3 and differential equations now. They have the same instructor for those classes, and he's the head of the math department as well as the person who got me my job. He's known me since I was in precalculus in 2019 and I had him when I took calc 3 and diff eqs too. Well both of those classes for this semester just got back their first exams and one of my little tutor boys didn't do so hot. Let me be clear, I respect this professor but he is the biggest hardass in the world. He told my now coworker that his calc 3 exam was the biggest disappointment in both of those classes and I wanna throw hands.
