Random thought but what province would have the largest anti-venom/venomics study sort of area.
+ Since poison spells are a part of the Restoration school of magic, would venom also be studied (yeah poison and venom are different but like, a trained healer would probably learn more about both regardless I would think)
Would this field of study mainly consist of Bosmeri, Redguard, and the Saxhleel (Argonians) due to natural resistances/immunities? Which again, yeah, the whole poison vs venom thing but I feel like the games just mix the two together regardless so...
#procrastinating on exports and fell into the youtube rabbit hole of venom n how its collected n used n such so naturally#gotta think of it in fictional world standards. there#there's probably already some vague nod towards this somewhere but i do not deep dive into lore pages all too much for reasons#rambling#tes headcanons

“Neteyam Standards”
Neteyam Sully x Human!reader
Ratings: SFW, Fluff
Word Count: 800
Notes: Man wtf why do I gotta indulge like this. This is me dipping my toes into the world of posting fan fiction, let me know what you think. Also I can’t figure out how to add a read more option help.
“You must’ve been the most beautiful creature on earth.” Neteyam murmurs into the crown of your head, his hand slipping into your considerably smaller one playing in the grass. You always admired the contrast of your skin tones next to each other. You scoff, “Hardly, but I appreciate the sentiment Teyam.” You left your voice drift off into the forest sounds, you prefer to let them speak for themselves but Neteyam has a different idea,
“I don’t think I could imagine anything more beautiful than you, Navi or human,” He ponders for a moment, “I wouldn't be surprised if you would rival the personified beauty of Eywa herself.” You laugh at this, sitting up to face him behind you only to be met with a drowsy, lovesick smile painted on Neteyam’s face as he listens to you with undivided attention, ”Do not say these things!” He catches your hand as you lightly shove him in the chest,
“ I can’t have Eywa upset at me, can I now? It’s hard enough just surviving on this planet without an ethereal deity out for me.” He laughs heartily, pulling you down to rest against his chest looking up into the canopy and at the sun shining through. It’s nearing eclipse, just close enough to see the first sliver of Polyphemus through the trees but not enough to worry about your return yet. Either way, you know that Neteyam could protect you against anything you may find in the dark. Out of the corner of your eye you see Neteyam’s ears twitch. Picking up all the chirps, hoots and howls of the forest. Two Atokirina dance between each other, floating down just far enough to tickle the finger tips of your outstretched hand.
“And besides, Eywa is much too beautiful. I don’t think I’d want to rival her. Nothing would seem beautiful to me if I was the most beautiful.” You add, only for your lover to squeeze your shoulder, his hand reaching out to join yours against the backdrop of the sky,
“I would like to believe Eywa thinks we are beautiful…” He murmurs before rolling on top of you, deciding he would much rather look at you than the leaves of the trees,
“Either way, you must be the most stunning creature on earth at least.” His bright eyes gaze up into yours. You can’t seem to find any hint of playfulness or doubt, he's fully sincere. So sincere it almost makes you tear up,
“Not particularly, I’m not exactly conventionally Earth beautiful either.” You give him a shaky smile, But he perseveres, cupping your face in his large hand, pressing his forehead to yours,
“I don’t buy it, my love. The way you speak of earth, burnt and devoid of life. I can’t imagine the people must be any better. All of the Humans I see here on Pandora are destructive and violent.” You hum, feeling the light rumbling of a purr in his chest against yours. You think for a moment, it might be nice for Neteyam to keep thinking that you are so beautiful that the Earth should weep for forgiveness for ever letting you leave, but you feel like you should tell the truth. That for earth standards, you were really, quite below average. Even though you don’t have to feel the pressure to look the way everyone wants you to look anymore, you would like to be able to be vulnerable with Neteyam, your mate,
“Earth… Has a very steadfast expectation on how you should look. So many humans would do anything to look that way,” You smile for a moment but it fades fast. “We would kill our planet for it. The plants and animals,” Neteyams huffs, pulling back for a moment,
“They did. Not you. This is not a matter of we.” He pouts. You will not bear this guilt alone, not on his watch. This makes you smile again,
“Whatever,” You roll your eyes. Never have you met anyone so stubborn to let you know how cared for you were, “I don’t meet that standard, Teyam, I think you would be stunned by those who do.”
Neteyam’s face softens. He can’t even fathom how you perceive yourself. To him you were the most empathetic, intelligent, caring person he’s ever met, not to mention the very love of his life. He moves to sit on your outstretched thighs,
“I don’t care about ‘Earth standards’.” He creates bunny ears with his fingers,
“In Nettayam standards, You are the most stunning being in the whole galaxy.”

Batfam/Batboys with a Yandere S/O
[This is something I wanted to write personally and decided to share with all of ya'll. Please remember this is fiction, since it has come to my attention that it needs to be stated. I do not condone this behavior, I just enjoy writing it. Thank you, enjoy.]
-
Batman/Bruce Wayne:
Yan S/O is devoted to him, would literally kill anyone just to make him happy.
Even if Bruce knows that your love for him isn't healthy, he doesn't let you go. He honestly finds comfort in your love, it's tight like collar on the both of you. Yet, he can't help himself but let your chains keep him together.
You love him to the point of no return. Willing to forsake the world, morals, everything. Even Talia can't do that. You want to hold him and keep him safe in your sickingly-sweet embrace.
Bruce has a case of savior complex with you, thinking he can change you. Where your desires to coat Gotham in red aren't necessary for him to love you.
But to you, it matters that you try to kill anyone in your way to Bruce's heart, or maybe just managing to keep them at arms-length.
Those finky, so-called, "villians" are apart of your anger. They CRAVE Batmans attention, which should only be for YOU.
Bruce and Batman do their best to keep you from killing villians. Most times failing and trying to cover it up for your sake and his reputation.
I could see Yan S/O just straight up telling Bruce that they are gonna raise his childern..
Which is kinda true, since they managed to get Alfred's approval. 《No clue how...》
Anyway, Yan S/O is around for all of the Batfam. Being the kindest and sweetest parental figure ever. Often threatening and hurting villians when they try to get in the way of family outings or straight up killing them under the guise of "self-defense."
You teach your way of "love" to Dick and then so on and so fourth. Causing a horrible cycle and generation of yandere Batfam. It's kinda funny.
"Just what exactly are you teaching him (Y/N)?" Bruce asked you, his tone accusing as he watched you clean up blood off the floor of the parlor room.
Jason sat on a small armchair, a notepad in hand as he re-reads over his notes.
Dick strolls up beside the older Wayne, watching the scene.
"Oh! I remember when you taught me that trick, gotta remember this little-wing!"
Richard [Dick] Grayson:
This man has been emotionally starved, having been raised by Bruce.
Dick has been in many romantic relationships, but they mostly fall flat and him and his romantic partners become just friends. Which is fine, but he still yearns for a romantic connection.
Or honestly a positive connection that has someone caring for him instead. Yes he's a good brother and son, but Bruce and his brothers mostly depend on him as the "happy-go-luck Dick Grayson".
Not the moody and depressed part of him.
Yet he meets Yan S/O, who is pretty much his personal everything. Cheerleader, bestie, (beside Wally), cuddle buddy, ect.
In your eyes, he could do no nothing wrong. You hold no high standard as how he should be seen.
He doesn't need to be the "Nightwing of Bludhaven" nor the "sweet and handsome Grayson".
He is YOURS, and you are his.
"Hey~ Welcome back," you whisper kindly. Aiding him inside the apartment. More-so dragging him in with strength he didn't know you possess.
Dick smiles at you, his eyes tired and body woozy from working late hours.
-
Jason Todd:
Jason never really grew up in a loving home, when he did however, it was taken away from him very early on.
So when any once of love he gets from Yan S/O, he tries to push it away. Thinking he'll loose it, somehow.
Yet if Yan S/O proves their devotion, Jason will accept their advances.
He doesn't see you as a total threat to himself, to other's though, that's a different story..
You listen to him, wanting to know every bits and fucked-up pieces of him.
You don't see him as some type of puzzle to finish, you just want to know him. To love him.
Holding his hands in your own, you place them on your forehead. Breathing out a content sigh, tracing his fingers gently. As if he was made out of porcelain and not a monster he saw himself as.
Tim Drake [Wayne]:
Tim is concerned about Yan S/O affections, finding them perfect. Too perfect.
He's afraid to love them, because Yan S/O is all he could imagine as a perfect lover for him.
Kind, attentive, uncaring of his coffee addiction.
Someone who'll listen to him need out about ANYTHING.
It could be the stupid-est thing ever, yet you'll stare him like a love stricken idiot.
Even when he talks about someone he likes, you'll still smile. With clear hurt in your eyes, yet never sabotage his dates or try to change his mind. Just listen with a open heart, hoping for the privilege to let you love him.
He honestly doesn't want to push it, knowing you'd have to have a limit.
But you never crack..
It drives him mad.
To the point where he surrenders himself to you.
There was no one who could be as "perfect" as you.
"Hey! Hey!" You squeak, feeling Tim's cold hands touch your cheeks. Squeezing them together to make a fish-face, leaning in to give you a small peck.
-
Damien Al Ghul/Wayne:
Straight up opposite of Tim.
Damien pushes your button's, wanting to see if you had the guts to kill for him.
Not believing that you were worthy enough for him.
He is a Al Ghul.
A Wayne.
Yan S/O thinks saying a heartful declaration of love will sway his heart. Not even a little.
You have to be persistent for Damiens attention, clingy but not to the point of becoming a annoyance and a bother.
Hell, maybe even uncaring. Giving up on the chase, which pisses Damien off.
Weren't you the one that wanted to be with him!?
Yan S/O acts like loving him was a phase. Which upsets him even more, he acts like it's not bothering him.
He starts missing your presence, whether if you were happy or timid around him.
"You already stuck around this long, might as well reward your efforts." Damien scowls, opening his hand out for you to take. A big smile breaks onto your face, which makes Damien freeze.
You won.
-
[Hope you enjoyed! Everythings appreciated!]

Demon HRT, part 1
Trigger Warnings: Horror, Vomiting, Blood, loss of bodily control
--------------------------------------------------------------
So I live in this place called Hyper City. Fun place, as far as cities go. Lately I’ve been seeing so many freakish peoples around. Dragon and Fish girls, an Eldritch monstrosity or two, hell I even saw Sonic the goddamn hedgehog walking around! Which, don't get me wrong, is FANTASTIC. All these people getting to be their true selves, it brings a tear to your eye! So I asked a few of them, very politely I might add, whereabouts they've been getting these medicinal interventions from. They all pointed me in the same direction.
An unassuming building lay before my feet as I entered a dinghy lobby. The place was littered with fur of every color and length, along with the occasional reptilian shedding-flake. The overworked receptionist looked at me with her bagged eyes and handed me a clipboard and pen. “Walk-in or Appointment sugar” “Walk-in!” “Alright. Wait time is about 3 hours if you're able to wait that long.” I looked around at the empty lobby and shrugged. I had nothing but time after all.
I lazily filled out the form, checking ‘No’ on all the usual culprits. From there I enjoyed the simple pleasures of people watching. Or I guess in this case, animal watching, as they walked in one after the other for their appointments. All sorts of creatures you'd think only existed in cartoons. A blue snake lady, a white tiger, like 4 fucking slimes. All of them seemed to leave with the same two things: lifeless eyes and a small paper bag they held onto like a treasure.
After 4 hours of waiting, finally, finally it was my turn to go back. I was escorted to the man’s office itself. Though you'd think a doctor would have better furniture. I had a comfier chair to sit on in elementary school. Soon the doc entered and he asked me to plead my case. “Doc, you gotta help me. I’ve seen the people in the streets and they say you've helped them! So I'm asking you, are you able to help me? I wanna be a demon!”
“Are. Are you serious? You're not making this up? This is for real?"
“Of course Doc! Deep inside me is a Beelzebub just waiting to burst free!”
“Absolutely not. How in blazes would I even create something like that?? I deal with the terrestrial, the creatures that actually roam this earth.”
“Bitch I literally saw a Sonic the Hedgehog.”
“Changing the hue of a standard hedgehog’s hair and incorporating specialized techniques to aid in speed is one thing. I'm not some revolving door for people to just turn into any farcical fictional absurdity that crosses their minds! I'll have to ask you to leave.”
I was escorted out of the building and as soon as I was I turned around to the doors and gave them my parting gift: two middle fingers and a loud “WELL FUCK YOU TOO!” As I turned to walk away I saw a young person in a tattered cloak approaching me.
“Troubles with Dr. Erian?”
“Yeah and what's it to you?”
“He is ignorant. Afraid of the worlds beyond his meager vision.” As they said this, they removed their hood, fully showcasing the double-irises of their eyes and a pure white eye in the middle of their forehead without any indication of an eyelid. “I know a place of power. A repository of knowledge. It is there you can acquire the help you need. Simply walk the road least trodden between the spires of ill-progress. At the end of the trail you will come upon a fork in the road. Take the third option, for all others are lies.”
“Okay cool but like what do I put in my Maps app?”
“Oh. Uhm. It's 666 Arkham Drive.”
----------------------
An hour or so of walking later I arrived at my destination. A library that seemed as both a cathedral and a butcher’s shop. But off in the alleyway beside the library was an old lady with a sharply crooked nose. She was wearing a long trench coat and as soon as she saw me she outreached a long, spindly finger in a “come hither” motion.
“Hello boy. I have the target of your mission…” she coyly remarked as she rummaged around in her coat before pulling out a plastic orange medicine bottle.
“I heard about you from Lidless Vision.
They told me to anticipate your arrival.
For you and only you, I have this vial.”
“Yeah yeah lady I've been down this road before. This isn't my first time encountering a creepy old crone in an alleyway offering me drugs. How do I know you're not a cop like the last one?”
“I can offer you no assurances but this: What I offer, I offer freely.
My master is one of chaos and all things unseemly.
I am a friend to those whose souls offer a dark shine.
I am no accomplice to the thin blue line. Also ACAB.”
“Ah right on, right on… Okay so what'll it cost.”
“I seek no compensation, no monetary transaction.
I only wish to help you achieve your satisfaction.
I have heard tell inside of you is a demon.
Take these pills, with water, and release what's within.”
With this she quickly grabbed my hand and thrust the bottom between my fingers. The label was haphazardly placed, but the instructions were what she said: “Take one pill twice a day. WITH WATER.”
“Well thank-” and before I knew it she was gone, along with the library. Around me was nothing but the shattered dreams of Mom ‘n Pop stores of the past. I looked around but could find no evidence of the crone, as if she was never there to begin with…
It was a long walk back home; and as soon as I arrived I collapsed on the couch. I was eager to ingest my new medication, with water, and to see the changes my body would undergo. I went to lie in bed and I was so exhausted I could only accomplish an hour of doom scrolling before sleep caressed me into her embrace.
------------------------------------
I awoke the next afternoon and immediately ran to the bathroom. I poured over my reflection for any changes, but all I could notice was that I was… pale? My skin all over was becoming pasty and white. I hope I wasn't getting an allergic reaction…
Although perhaps this was a normal part of the HRT process. Shedding my previous color before my demonic hues came in. But great, now people will think I'm some kinda nerd. Hopefully I could develop a tan to help normalize my complexion.
I took my first allotted HRT pill, with water, and prepared myself. I got dressed and was ready to start my day off visiting any and all businesses begging for a job while being told “there's an application online.” I went to put on my sneakers and… hrm. My toes were pressing up against the end of the shoe. I guess all that walking made my feet a bit swollen today. Nothing another day of walking wouldn't fix. Not like I could just buy another pair, certainly not without a stable income.
First stop on my itinerary was Emperor Burger. I walked onto those sticky floors and was immediately hit with a wall of smell: a queasy concoction of grease, potatoes, and depression. Not many people eat here if they could help it, after all. I walked up to the counter to an acne riddled individual but before I could speak I vomited all over the minimum wage worker to an audible “aw COME ON MAN!” I collapsed onto the floor as the worker began moping around me, either unwittingly or maliciously ignoring my plight as I kneeled over. I couldn't breathe, I was choking on something caught in my throat. Instinctively I clawed into my mouth to dislodge the object, grabbing what felt like fabric. I gripped and pulled but the more I pulled the more felt trapped in my stomach. It was like I was pulling out my own intestines as a long rope of tightly tied… hankerchiefs? were pulled out of my body, soaked in my own bile and blood. But eventually with one final yank my throat was free of the obstruction and I could finally breathe, if in ragged short breaths.
“Help me get this guy the fuck out of here, he's some kinda drunk or something!” was what the clerk started yelling as two workers hoisted me to my feet and threw me out onto the curb. The fall should have hurt, but all my mind could focus on was how much the sunlight now burned my skin and obscured whatever vision I had through tear-stained eyes. I gripped my stomach as I limped home, pedestrians giving my pained body, stained with my own fluids, a wide berth.
I arrived at my humble hovel with another fall onto the floor. I felt like a failure, I wasn't even out an hour before coming back to my dimly lit den. Was the clerk right? Was I just a drunk? Hungover? But I didn't even have the money for alcohol, let alone enough to leave me in this condition. But the thought finally flashed through my mind like lightning:
The pills.
I tried crawling to the table where I was keeping my precious medication but I was barely there before more pains creeped their way across my body, sending me into seizures. The pain wracked my body, yet trying as I might in my agony, no tears flowed. Instead the only sounds emanating from my body were a continuous series of cheerful, upbeat laughs.

Hello,
Is there any way you could translate Samatoki's newest solo, Rinka/Blue Flame? I've been looking for a translation everywhere, but cannot seem to find one.
Best regards and thank you very much.
Oh my God I am desperate slug-san, please please pleaaasee tell me you know where to find a translation of Samatoki's Rinka/Blue Flame!! OTL I was so surprised a translator wasn't already linked in the wiki which is where I usually look first & then I couldn't find anything by searching on twitter or google or tumblr and I just really wanna know what his song is about!! T°T I can't believe I found a translation of Honobono's song but not of Samatoki's song?? I must be doing sth wrong.. Help :')
Hey slug-san! A follow-up of the Rinka/Blue Flame message. I've searched some more, and I think there's actually no translation of it so far anywhere.. T~T Would you be willing to translate it? A standard/literal translation with a lil clean-up like you did with Akuma no Hana would be totally alright!! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to engage with Hypmic in a way the official creators haven't made possible yet! :D <3
Sure. Under a cut for length.
I'm running at a speed faster than grief, going so fast I leave even the smallest bad feelings behind me. I spit on my dead-end future, spit in the dirty puddles. Now I'm clinging to the guardrail, tears tracing scribbled lines down my cheeks. I bet it looks pretty comical. C'mon, laugh at me, why don't you? Let's start somewhere around the unhappy ending. Why not? Works for me. The clear, blue sky waits for sunset; but to hell with that. I don't need that crap! Let's do whatever we damn well please, here in this vacant city. Just the thought of them makes me light up a cigarette. Look, I don't wanna tell people we gotta fight each other to get what we want. I just think we have to, because there's things out there that're worth keeping safe. There's a stray dog baying at the rain streaking down the glass, and that SOB won't shut up. Hey, fuck your umbrella. Who needs that kinda crap? Throw it away and let the rain drench you too. The beat's entrenched in my soul, a stupid requiem for this unfair world we live in, lying on its sickbed. C'mon, get in there and pay your respects to it. You don't have the time to sit around feeling sorry for yourself. You know lashing out's the answer, right? You'll be okay. And I'm not gonna tell you you're running from your responsibilities. So c'mon. Quit your sniveling and come ride with me. The brakes don't work; those emotions never get any slower. And we're burning ourselves out, but don't let that stop you from coming along with me for the ride. Ride with me through thick and thin. Ride with me all the way to the grave.
A few final notes:
Sunset is a metaphor for melancholy. When Samatoki rejects that in the third verse, he's rejecting sitting through his feelings of loss. He uses this image again later in the line I wrote as "sit around feeling sorry for yourself."
The gender and plurality of the "them" Samatoki thinks about isn't specified. While it's most likely referring to his family, the verse immediately afterward sounds like a direct reference to Ichirou and Samatoki battling to save their siblings in the TDD breakup.
"We're burning ourselves out" could also be written like "We're burning ourselves down to ash" which connects with the cigarette image.
Given the prevalence of stray dogs in hardboiled/yakuza fiction and their recurrence as an image in Samatoki's other raps, the stray dog should be understood to be Samatoki himself.

The importance of setting rules for your fictional universe
I talked about this a little in another recent post in terms of rules for character design (not any like…theory or rules for designing characters, but rather rules for WHY a character looks a certain way) and it made me think more about world building in general.
I’ll be talking mainly about Hellaverse stuff since it’s on my mind, at first because I rewatched HB and now again b/c the HH trailer dropped.
B/c I gotta be honest, I’m pretty sure the world of Hazbin Hotel is gonna fall flat for me the same way that Helluva Boss has.
And as a reminder, I’m not trying to bash Helluva and Hazbin. I enjoyed the recent Hazbin trailer, but I think it’s really important to examine and think about story stuff.
Critique/Review below!
I think one of, if not THE biggest thing keeping HB and HH from feeling like a fully realized world is that we don’t really have any rules or standards for what is considered “normal” in Hell.
And since there’s no baseline for what is considered moral and immoral in hell, characters and their reactions to violence, crime, verbal abuse, body shaming, etc. seem to switch rapidly between sharing an earthly human morality, where everything is mirroring our current day society, and an anything goes kill-steal-maim total anarchy ideology.
To me the HH/HB version of hell comes off like the purge, except actually there ARE some crimes that are off limits. Like murder is okay sometimes and of course there are assassins everywhere that’s just a normal freelance sort of business. But also there’s organized crime and if you steal from a bank you go to hell-jail.
For example, after “Exes and Oh’s”, I had assumed killing other Imps or hellborn must be considered a crime, the way that Crim’s behavior and killing of his underlings was portrayed as completely negative and horrific. But then remembered that Millie having a neighborhood body count due to getting too competitive is mentioned as a joke, and it’s pretty clear that her family thinks of it as more of an embarrassing incident than like…an actually terrible thing to do.
I thought, “Okay, we’ll, maybe it’s just Moxxie’s Mom that was against all the violence being taught to her son.” But apparently she’s from the Wrath ring, the same ring as Millie. So was Moxxie’s Nameless Mom seen as being particularly different or strange to the what a “typical” Wrath Imp is? We can’t know.
Like. We see that imps have romantic relationships and can care deeply about each other and fall in love, just like humans do. In reference to the neighborhood bodycount thing, were Millie’s neighbors not extremely upset with her? Wouldn’t they also grieve their loved ones? Is it sometimes socially acceptable to kill other Imps like in sporting events???
Are the rules for what is seen as socially acceptable for sinners different from what’s socially acceptable for hellborn? Are there different ideas of what is socially acceptable from ring to ring?
I worry that when I ask these questions about a fictional universe, people will think I’m TRYING to dig or look for things to tear that world apart.
I promise I’m thinking about these things so deeply out of curiosity and because I want to engage with the material.
I want to understand and have fun in the fictional universe the writers have invited us all to. But if the rules of your universe are not clear, it can make it much harder for audiences to navigate the story you are trying to tell in that setting.
The HH/HB universe just does NOT have that clarity right now. Since season 2 of HB I’ve noticed that the world building has become more and more inconsistent, and if it’s supposed to now SHARE that world with HH, I really don’t know how they’re going to make their world coherent.
As a final note these are just my opinions. They are not objectively right. If you love Hh and HB and firmly believe the story is clear and the world building makes sense that’s great!! Genuinely, I am happy that the story means a lot to you and you enjoy it. These are just my personal critiques and views.

Mastering Story Physics: Crafting Believable Magical Systems for Immersive World-Building
Photo: Standard License - Adobe Stock
Have you ever read a book with a magical system so captivating you almost believe it's real? That's where story physics comes into play. It's like everyday physics, but instead of dealing with gravity or quantum mechanics, the rules are for our fictional universes. The more consistent and logical the rules are, the easier it is for readers to suspend disbelief and get lost in a story. If you're dreaming up a world of your own, here's a quick guide on getting everything to line up smoothly for maximum reader immersion.
Begin with the Basics
Foundation: Start by understanding the natural world's physics. It helps to know the rules before you bend or break them.
Consistency: Decide on the rules of your universe and stick to them. If magic drains energy in chapter one, it can't be consequence-free in chapter five.
Limitations: Every system, magical or not, should have its limits. This can create tension, obstacles, and more intricate plots.
A Dash of Reality:
Relatability: Even if your world is filled with flying pigs, there's gotta be something relatable. Maybe those pigs need sleep, or they're terrified of storms. Ground some aspects in reality.
Cause and Effect: If a character uses a spell, there should be a consequence. It can be as simple as being tired or as complex as altering the fabric of the universe.
Complexity and Depth:
Layers: Think of your magical system as an onion Peel back layers to reveal deeper secrets or complexities as the story progresses.
Evolution: Allow your system to grow and change. Just like technology advances, so can magical methods or tools.
Character Interaction:
Practicality: If magic or advanced technology exists, characters should use it daily, not just in dire situations.
Learning Curve: Characters shouldn't master the system overnight. Watching them struggle, learn, and adapt can be super engaging.
Stakes and Balance:
Consequences: Every action should have an equal and opposite reaction. If someone's saving the world with their powers, what are they sacrificing?
Power Checks: Ensure there's something to check or counteract powerful entities. Without a good reason, no one likes an invincible hero (or villain).

I power read Lionheart months ago and it's been living in my brain ever since. In random moments, I see/think about your characters in the world around me. Like: a couple in the park holding hands? I start musing on your Draco's PDA thoughts. I remember the handholding moment as the Third Task started. I see a threadbare book in the thrift store? I wonder how fired up Hermione would be if someone asked her if wizards had an obligation to fix Muggle goods. If Reparo can fix a roof (and costs a witch nothing), should impoverished Muggles have to fight with their insurance company after a storm? On and on. I love it.
Thanks for opening up your asks for questions! Seriously, that's a badass move. There have been a few stressful moments in my life where--bing!--I check Tumblr and read one of your answers and I'm immersed in your HP world again, carefree and curious. <3
I have about a billion things I could ask/am curious about, but I'll restrain myself to two. This time. ;-)
Draco's mentioned once or twice that Harry & Ron don't understand him and Hermione. I was interested in that moment right before Draco follows Hermione to the Owlery. Harry stopped Ron from saying anything, and Draco recognizes that he's probably just as ignorant about Harry and Ron's friendship. So: 1) Is it too spoilery to ask what Harry (dear, sweet boy that he is) has noticed about Hermione & Draco? Does he think of them as one nerdbrain, or is he like Draco? Hermione? Weren't they married like, ages ago? I'm so fascinated by what others see when they look at Draco and Hermione because good GOD, what a power couple. And 2) Could you speak to Harry and Ron's relationship? Is Harry like, "Ron, you've gotta kill that Hermione pipedream," or is that topic irrelevant in the face of Quidditch gossip and less relationship-driven moments? Their (Harry and Ron) connection just seems so...necessary. It's beautiful.
I hope you're doing well! Thanks again for sharing such an immersive, gripping story with us.
Aw, this is so touching, thank you! I'll try to answer your questions as best I can without spoilers or breaching any rules on author-answer-ethics. Standard disclaimers: anything not in the text doesn't count, if I want you to believe something I have to give you a reason to believe it in the body of the fiction itself, and you're free to disagree with anything I say here. For the purposes of these types of questions, I'm basically just a fan who knows what the author had for breakfast this morning.
Harry knows that Hermione and Draco are... something. I think this comes through most in the arc of Book 4 where Ron separates from the group, and it becomes a tricycle of Draco, Hermione, and Harry. Harry is miserable, and it's not just because Ron leaves (although that's a large part of it); he's now in the position that Hermione occupies for most of the original series, where he understands very clearly that his other two friends, while both loving him very much, are First in each other's minds. He has a number of remarks that start to show his irritation with this, though he tries his best to be understanding — it is a similar dynamic to him and Ron, after all. (Fun story: I didn't realize until late in my drafting how much Hermione and Draco's dynamic echoes Harry and Ron in canon, from meeting on the train, the paying-for-candy moment, the Sorting, the class partnership, etc.)
All this to say that Harry looks at Hermione and Draco and sees a wall, in the same way that Draco looks at Harry and Ron and sees a wall. He doesn't understand it, but he knows that's deep water, and he knows he's usually better off not touching it. (Some of this comes through in Ron's conversation with Draco by the pumpkin patch; there's a blink-and-you-miss-it reference to "whatever the hell you and Hermione have got going on," along with a quick gloss on their weird pseudo-spiritual mind-meld connection, which was meant to give a glimpse into how the rest of Gryffindor sees them: eerily well-suited people with separately terrifying abilities who, when together, sail merrily off into their own universe of intelligence/plots-and-schemery and become a black hole of You Don't Want To Fucking Know. I sometimes amuse myself by thinking of Dean and Seamus giving the first years PSAs on Do Not Approach the Wild Swots In Action.) And he, like most of Gryffindor Tower, would have to be blind not to see how much they favor each other. They're always together. There's really nothing that they can do to hide it.
Which is probably why he pulls Ron back in the Owlery moment. He understands that what Hermione is dealing with is something that Draco, perhaps only Draco, can fix. She needs to hear a very specific kind of reassurance, and she needs to hear it from him. In the same way, when Hermione tried to calm Harry down before the plan to rescue Sirius in the third book, she failed miserably; they love each other intensely (they're siblings! the muggle-born twins!) but they're extremely different, and of all the Quartet dynamics, they're the ones who seem most at peace with that. Harry and Hermione's friendship works because they get what the other needs and they get that sometimes it's not them. (Harry more than Hermione, because she's still working on the concept of "sometimes people do not want my help" in general, but still.) There's a reason basically no one ever speculates about them being involved outside of a joke, because no one who knows them would think they could work romantically. They love each other, but they weird each other out, and they're content with that.
In contrast, Ron and Harry's friendship is more of the soul-bonded, life-partners, "he is more myself than I am" kind of friendship. Catherine and Heathcliff dig-up-the-corpse-to-lie-down-with-it type of shit. When Ron gets a death scare in the finale of Book 3, Harry goes fucking ballistic. Likewise with Harry's portkey fakeout in the end of Book 4 — Ron loses his shit. They are deeply, irrevocably attached to each other in an almost codependent way, which is the product of Harry's "first friend ever, like literally fucking ever, not nobody else, not one" situation meeting Ron's "first person who ever loved me as Ron and not so-and-so's brother" situation. So just as you put it, really: necessary and beautiful (and messy).

I adore all your art with cookie and was interested in Sapphicworld- but I’m curious (so plz don’t take this as a negative-) what exactly in your opinion sets it apart from other Queer PBTA hacks like Thirsty Sword Lesbians?
I’d just really like to hear your thoughts about it as a system and world especially given you are a indie developer yourself?
hi!! thank you!!
so, a few caveats before i start off — one, i actually haven't played many other pbta games (like for example i know Of thirsty sword lesbians + own a copy that i've poked around in but im not very familiar w it), so i honestly can't provide much in the way of comparing/contrasting it w other pbta stuff in the same vein, and my impressions of sapphicworld are pretty much just contained to the game as its own thing, not so much sapphicworld as a Type Of Game
and two, while i am a dev myself, i'm a huge novice! like, i'm proud of the stuff i put out and i love doing it, but i personally feel like my lack of experience is such that like, i don't think my opinions in this case are particularly informed by my own work as a dev or anything. all this to say im happy to answer this question, i think i just gotta tackle it from a different frame than what ur specifically asking!
BUT ANYWAY. i can still talk abt why im so excited abt sapphicworld in a way that has kind of outstripped other stuff in general, and for me it's about the world 100%. like i honestly spend close to no time thinking abt the fact that sw is even pbta to be honest. not that the mechanics + gameplay aren't important, bc they are thoughtfully crafted and well done and fun, and i'm saying that from the perspective of someone who playtested earlier versions that have now been reworked! it's just like, not what comes to mind first for me — what's exciting and fresh and irreplaceable abt the game in my mind is like. it is fully committed to immersing you in an extremely lush, strange, richly fleshed out world, one with a long history and folklore/mythology and a TON of really fun npcs who all have different subcultures and its own calendar with seasonal holidays and regional terrain with specific fleshed out dungeons/towns/etc to discover and even like, specific FOODS typical to each different region and and and and —
and maybe at first that seems kind of overwhelming, and tbh it is. when i first got into it and i was going thru the playtest document (which if im remembering right was like. ~300 pages shorter at the time than the current playtest doc) i DO remember anxiously thinking to myself "god this is a LOT and idk if i'll be able to retain enough of this to rp convincingly" etc etc. but like... it's just really compelling, and it does an incredible job of mixing humor and gravity and horniness in a perfect ratio that always comes across as intensely earnest and makes it equally easy to have a fun goofy time or a really emotional time, which i think is REALLY hard to do.
and while normally it's hard for me to get thru something that dense and long all i can really say is that i just straight up like it enough and was charmed by it enough to pick away at it until i grasped it and felt like i understood a bunch about the world, which also has a curve to it bc in structure and tone its very different from any of your... idk more Standard fantasy or sci fi worldbuilding, so it's not like u can immediately slot in ur expectations from other settings and just learn some new vocab words, it's a world that from my perspective also Functions differently than a lot of other fictional settings in a way that's a little hard to describe succinctly. (none of this is succinct to begin with but ykwim). it makes me want to gm my own campaign, really really bad, when usually i have always been absolutely Terrified of the idea of gming! idk man. it has a Flavor. it's full of Vapors. u get transported somewhere else reading it and playing it in a way i haven't experienced in a while and a lot of times after a playtest session i felt like my brain stayed behind in sapphicworld for a pretty long time.
i feel like i am sounding a little melodramatic and incoherent but like. genuinely sapphicworld is just a fictional world that i am really bone-deep charmed by and interested in and when i WAS reading thru the rulebook for those first days it did not take me long at all to find myself constantly thinking "i want to play in this world, i want to play in this world, i can't wait to play in this world," and i just think that's really special. and like — just as your curiosity abt comparing sw to tsl was not intended as a diss or a negative, what im abt to say is similarly neutral — im a person who sometimes finds it a little difficult to click with or feel excited abt a lot of the Queer Indie Stuff that i see get popular with other people, bc it just doesn't connect w my specific lesbian + trans experience; not that it feels inauthentic but that im like, oh, idk, i think these guys are just. not My Zone, ykwim. on the flip side so much of the humor and heart and transness and sex in sapphicworld is something that really resonates w me and just Clicks in a way that i have also found really special.
rounding myself off before i ramble for like five more paragraphs but just as one more morsel of something i like abt sapphicworld that is a little more concrete than me spinning around the room yelling "I JUST LIKE IT OKAY": one of the most fun parts of character creation is getting to mix and match your kind (sort of like ancestry/species, the form ur physical body takes) with a subculture. so u get things like a werewolf babe (cookie! babe being a subculture that focuses on being Like, Totally Hot), or a centaur knight, or a minotaur debaucher, or a vampire cowboy, or an organist (cthulu-y tentacle guy) scenester, or a skeleton wizard, etc etc etc etc — there are SO MANY to pick from that when i was trying to bait my friends into playing w me i couldn't find a convenient way to list them all so ppl could start thinking abt their characters. and every possible combination basically is interesting and amusing and fun and practically THROWS a great oc into your lap and i literally think i could amuse myself endlessly just Making Characters in sapphicworld and never actually playing w them.
[panting, disheveled] so tldr. i like it. uh. what sets sapphicworld apart from other ttrpgs to me is that i have fallen balls to the wall in love with the very soul of it to the point where i don't even really think about it in comparison to other games at all and it has just become an Experience to me and i suppose i cannot guarantee anyone else will fall into insane homosexual hysteria in the same way but here we are. HOPE THAT HELPS
(ALSO PSSST. idk if this is just perfect timing or if ur curiosity was specifically prompted by this but the @sapphicworldttrpg patreon DID just launch and if any of this has been intriguing u should check it out. okay mwah bye)
#anyway thank u bc ive been so busy these past few weeks/months ive had no time to rotate it in my brain#and im not caught up on the most current versions etc#so this was a nice opportunity to slow down and take a breath and geek out abt something i like a lot. :D#sapphicworld#ttrpgs#also hi eclipse i am a little embarrassed to have tagged u onto a post of me just like. Gushing-#-but i want ppl to be able to find the game account lol. [waves sheepishly] i like ur art. as u know.

havin thots. if this makes u uncomfy i understand and u have the freedom to unfollow or block, curate ya own experience i wont be mad
prefacing this by saying i still have my own standards and havent flipped to Supporting certain things, my opinions on the way i view things have just kind of shifted
so theres a convo going on on a post ive reblogged elsewhere abt the morality of portraying certain things in fiction and how it may or may not reflect on the creator irl and it rly made me think abt stuff
ive always been a believer in the idea of fiction 100% affecting reality and that if u write smth nasty theres gotta b a reason for that somehow. but after reading some pieces im kinda thinkin like. idk. i do agree that fiction can affect reality still, i think thats undeniable, and sometimes ppl who write certain things in fiction CAN and ARE actually into those things irl. but now im also of the opinion that not everyone is in that category and some ppl just want to explore things in fiction that they would never ever support or do irl for one reason or another. fiction can affect or reflect reality but in the end fiction is not reality. i think both can be true. just...make sure things are tagged bc a lot of ppl Including Me dont want to see certain shit in their fandom tags.
like idk. i hate certain subjects in fiction like of course pedophilia and underage torture porn and incest and i will never ever support or tolerate those things. but at this point ppl have the right to write about them themselves if it stays in fiction. fiction has always been a place to explore shit without it being done in the real world (even tho again i do know some ppl Do like these things irl. just not everybody). i feel like i would be a hyprocrite if i condemned everyone who writes content like that and then turned around and continued indulging in my own interests like at the very least the violence and murder in dragon ball and the other evil/problematic characters im interested in. ive literally written some brutal murder shit and...well. zamasu and goku black. thats all i rly need to say abt that lol.
that being said the anti/proship shit is still stupid as hell to me. i dont condone attacking ppl and dogpiling and witch hunting for writing nasty shit even if it grosses me out personally, but i also cant stand ppl who make being into fictional gross shit Their Entire Personality and act like theyre doing something by flaunting it. yknow. both extremes are stupid and i wish it would die already
so ya. i most likely wont b making any posts abt that shit in the future, im getting too old to be stressing abt shit like that. if someone squicks me out im going to block. thats it. and if you dont tag your shit im also blocking and then strangling you on top of it. thats all
#hopefully yall understand where im coming from w this#i dont wanna start anything so i really do encourage you block if u disagree. im not abt to argue or debate anything

Helloooo, sugar or phoenix! Everyone loves tropes, but I bet as a romantasy writer, you have some particular tropes that you really love.
What are some of your favourite tropes, whether to read or to write, that always just get your brain whirring?
Hello, thanks for asking! <3
I think, for writing, my favorite tropes would be:
Yin/Yang // opposite types -- I'm not sure if there's another name but it's like where the love interests are on two opposite sides of a spectrum, usually I like writing opposing magic systems and placing the two love interests at either ends of that.
Forced proximity/arranged marriage -- I like writing/reading this trope especially when the two characters don't exactly like each other or don't trust each other (but are forced to due to the circumstances).
Revenge? Vengeance? I love writing that kind of angsty stuff. Main character taking revenge for a loved one, main character being betrayed and taking revenge against the person who betrayed them, etc. etc. Bitter emotions that turn into passionate acts always get me.
As for reading... there are tropes that really get me going that aren't actually in the realm of romantasy!
Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, only one bed -- these are all the classic romantasy stuff that I will absolutely eat up.
Heist trope -- I LOVE heists. I love stuff like Six of Crows and Ocean's 11 -- the orchestrated plan and execution seriously make me sit up and want to write something related.
Doomed by the plot/doomed by fate -- I really like stuff like when a character tries to work against fate and they just don't succeed in getting their goal, but they also don't fail either -- but a different Third™️ option where they finally understand that they cannot get to that goal because their character has developed tenfold and they finally accept it (bonus points for angst if they sacrifice themselves).
In the same vein, I love self-fulfilling prophecies. Like, maybe it was a prophecy and everyone's fighting against it yet everything they're doing only moves the prophecy along -- OR maybe it was never a prophecy! Maybe it was just a rumor of a prophecy, or a prophecy that was made up, but because so many people believe in it, it fulfilled itself. That stuff really gets me, I eat it up.
Here are some other stuff that I love reading/writing:
Animal tropes. I'm not sure if this counts as a trope, but if a character is part animal, or an animal shifter, or has powers related to communication with animals, any of that -- love. Love reading it, love consuming media with those kinds of stuff in it, love writing it. I've always loved animals and drawing metaphors from people to animals and just -- anything like that.
Dark Academia.
Dark fantasy -- I love the angst factor in these, and I enjoy both reading and writing them.
Natural magic powers i.e. drawing powers from objects in the natural world, like gems, or moonlight/starlight, or plants, or blood/bones, etc. etc. These have so much potential for metaphors as well, like linking the idea of blood being a natural life force and making a character who has blood magic someone who really enjoys life and all it has to offer and maybe they don't like giving up on their pleasures in order to fight for a better cause (but they will have to anyway, cause you gotta fight your character flaw in order to grow).
Did I mention metaphors. I love metaphors and drawing real life functions to personalities and character flaws and that sort of stuff. Like making a "fox" character tricky, or making a tiger character someone who loves water and maybe wants to become a pirate (!! upcoming fiction?) -- anything like that. I especially like metaphors that aren't your standard cliche ones. For example, maybe you make a character with water powers one who is highly manipulative and finds themselves in everyone's weak crack, driving everyone to pieces -- because although we associate water with life and healing, water also erodes mountains and earth and rock. Things like that -- I love finding new ways to interpret things.
There's probably a lot more that I haven't mentioned but I think these are the things that I really, really love. Thanks so much for asking again! <3

My own internalized misogyny pisses me the fuck off sometimes, because I NEVER give female characters the same understanding and compassion I give male characters.
I love Sam and Dean Winchester of The CW's "Supernatural" (2005-2020). I love Ed Teach and Stede Bonnet of HBO Max' "Our Flag Means Death" (2022-2023). I love Marvel's Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, and Loki. These characters have done some really fucked up shit. These characters have killed people. Most of them have killed without remorse - often for reasons that I personally cannot see as justifiable.
But I forgive all those characters. Don't get me wrong, I don't just love them because they're well-written, three dimensional, compelling characters. I love them like I care about them. Like they're my fictional friends. Like if I knew them in real life, I'd want them to be proud of me. I think that in their universes, they are good people.
I know that it sucks that we don't have as many female characters like that. But what sucks even more is that when we do I hate them! What is wrong with me??
Katniss Everdeen from Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games. I read those books in high school and I hated her because I thought she was selfish. Selfish! Like, what? Who do I think I am?
Clarke Griffin of The CW's "The 100" (2014-2020). I had beef with her because I couldn't agree with some of the decisions she made, so I disliked her whole character.
Fiona Gallagher of Showtime's "Shameless" (2011-2021). *Season 4 spoilers* After Liam got into the cocaine in Season Four and was hospitalized for an overdose, I was so mad at her. I was like, "You stupid bitch! How could you just leave cocaine just lying around when you have a three-year-old in the house? That is so dumb and irresponsible!"
What stands out to me is that Katniss, Clarke and Fiona are facing circumstances every bit as difficult as any of those male characters I mentioned previously. They've lived through immense trauma. They're up against insurmountable odds. But I don't give them the same grace that I do Sam or Ed or Bucky.
I hold women, myself included, to a much high standard than men. It's ridiculous because that double standard is itself part of the very same systematic oppression that creates so many obstacles for women already (before you even ask, yes I'm including trans women. "Women" always includes trans women. Women are women are women. Genitals and chromosomes do not determine gender. Terfs go fuck yourselves).
It's not fair. It's not fair to the people writing female characters. It's not fair to female actors. It's not fair to the women and girls all over the world who need to see themselves represented in well-written, three-dimensional, complex, imperfect characters. It's not fair to me. I am part of the problem!
So anyway. Not cool, self. I gotta work on undoing those unhealthy thought patterns. Wish me luck!

The number of people who seem to think that it’s good and normal for them to want to personally approve of any piece of art for it to exist are fucking baffling to me
“Oh I don’t condone incest ships so no one should be allowed to write them”
Do you condone war crimes?
Do you approve of violence and oppressive governments?
Do you approve of torture and whump?
Do you fucking approve of teenage bullying?
We’d lose ALL MODERN MEDIA if we only ever told stories about things that are pure and good and clean, and the queer community would never be a part of it
Gay people HOLDING HANDS are treated like they’re fucking in the street by conservatives
You will never be pure enough, clean enough, respectable enough for the people who want you dead
Alan fucking Turing, without whom the Allies never would have won World War II, was chemically castrated because he happened to be gay as well as a genius
He killed himself
He was a hero by every single measure of the word, and he was driven to suicide because nothing else he was, nothing else he did, mattered to the people that were so sure homosexuality was wrong
Why the hell would being a milquetoast little queer who never consumes questionable content, never even glances at anything that makes them uncomfortable, save you?
He was an influential cis white man who fucking saved the civilisation that decided being gay made him a danger to kids, and he could not be allowed to just live his life
People like dark shit
Being taboo is literally part of the thrill, because it’s something that people don’t fucking go out and get in their normal life
There is no line in the sand that you can draw and say “this type of content is always bad and has no place in society” that will not immediately be used to silence minorities first (and usually only)
Spend a damn week enforcing the same purity standards on all your entertainment that you do on fic
Hint: you’ll never watch Game of Thrones again. Or 99.9% of historical fiction or fantasy. No war movies, which actually do have a negative effect on people
No more cop shows, procedurals, murder mysteries, and oh, if you like horror? Whole genre’s gotta go
The world has fucked up shit in it, and people will create and consume it in media. All you’re doing by trying to personally fucking judge the standards of fan content is making yourself look like an asshole
No one’s grabbing you by the fucking neck and making you read fic you don’t like
Show the same courtesy and keep your damn hands to yourself too
It’s none of your business what other people like until it affects you personally, and all this “fiction affects reality”? If you truly believe that aim your ass at Hollywood and Disney, the biggest creators of the most fucked up fiction
They never do
Just target fan communities and creators that they think they can bully into obeying
Not a single one of their actions would be allowed in the pure fiction utopia they want to police us into

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #82
Today is a day of resting. For a variety of reasons, I decided to stay home and watch M explore the second portion of your story.
I must say, I feel privileged and honored to be able to learn so much more about your planet than was possible previously. The first time your story was told, we were given so few details But now…
We can see the foods the people of your world eat. We can see the clothing they wear. The instruments they make music with. The art they create. The architecture they use to build their homes and structures. We even know now that your planet has sign language, just like mine! In the course of witnessing this part of your story, I've been trying to drink in as much of the culture of your world as I can.
I think one of the things I'm most interested in is making note of the different kinds of food available in your world. Cloud said something about the standard SOLDIER rations being nutritious, but gross. I can't help but wonder, given how much of your life must have been controlled by the corporation that created and enslaved you, how much of your world's cuisine you've been able to try. Though it is known that you enjoy things like pasta, I can't help but wonder what else you've tried, and what sorts of things you like and dislike when it comes to food. Are there flavors you can't stand? Textures that you don't enjoy?
…For some reason, I think you might like things such as macaroni and cheese. Or maybe a burrata. Or maybe you'd like bok choy, pan-fried in a little butter and garlic. Or stuffed mushrooms? Garlic bread? Concord grapes?
There are lots of things in your world that we don't have in mine. We don't have Gongaga mushrooms or Magonga mushrooms or Banora White apples or any of the greens that chocobos like to eat. So I wonder if maybe there are some things in my world that your world doesn't have. If there are… wouldn't it be amazing if I could share some of those things with you? I wonder what you would think.
I see the art in your world. I can't help but wonder if you've ever tried to draw or paint. If you have… what have you created? And if not… what kinds of pictures would you make? I wonder if you'd show us.
I see the musicians in your world. I can't help but wonder if you've ever tried to sing or to play an instrument, or even to whistle a little tune. What melodies do you like? What words do you carry in your heart? I wonder if you'd show us.
I see the performers in your world. I can't help but wonder, with all your amazing physical prowess, if you've ever tried to dance. I wonder what it would look like. I wonder what songs might move you.
I wonder so many things. I wonder which beautiful things life can offer that you have yet to experience. I wish I could pull you away from all the ick you're accustomed to, over to where I live, just for a day (because my planet has problems, too), to show you all of the wonderful things you've yet to try.
Hey, Sephiroth? Once you're all done with doing whatever you gotta do to make sure your planet and everyone on it (including you!!) is safe, will you promise me that you'll try those things? And that you'll share your thoughts and experiences with someone who understands? I'd like to think that I would understand, but… I imagine that you ever reaching me is an impossibility, since… ya know. You're an art form here, and not someone I can actually talk to or reach at all or try to help… as much as all of this pains me in ways that I can't even begin to describe.
But… even if it's impossible, I'm still not going to give up trying to reach you. So please… please make sure you don't give up, either. Don't give up on loving the world and the people around you. Don't give up on learning new things and shattering old conditioning in favor of newer, better, and more loving ways of being. Don't give up on trying to truly live, despite all that has happened to you.
I know you feel out-of-place and alone, but… if nowhere else… you can have a home in my house. Because my house is where lots of misfits go. It's a place where anyone can be safe. So… as impossible as it is, you're still invited. You're invited to be in a space where no one, no matter how different they are, can belong. You can belong. Don't give up. Please. I'll keep calling for you. I'll keep trying to show you as many beautiful things as I can. You're not alone.
I'll write again tomorrow. Please stay safe out there. Please come back to us in one piece.
Your friend, Lumine

Re: homeschooling. There is ALOT of stigma, but I’ve heard the stigma is much higher in the USA than elsewhere, and this is an American site so all polls results are skewed to an American world view. So there’s that, what fears exist there that influence the vote? I’ll try to summarize. I’d be interested in a poll from everyone else. Also the points I’m gonna cover are just what I’ve heard over the years, and over the border as a Canadian myself, who only homeschooled for a few of my years, so it’s not iron clad or anything. Just some possibilities.
The stigmas come from the idea that it’s bad because there are, unfortunately, a lot of people who don’t do it right, or for the right reasons. The main objections are these kids are completely isolated socially, underprepared to function in the real world, and that they won’t get a proper education - either from ignorance or malice, or both. There may also be unconscious bias that the state (not the American sense of the word, but the institutional sense) knows best and how can parents know what to teach? Which probably feeds back into factors I don’t really have the qualifications to talk about but basically boil down to “if you educated them better they won’t be mindless minions for the capitalist/military/prison grind” - the state does not want that, so they purport the idea that it’s bad (yes that borders on conspiracy theory, not saying it’s true, saying I’ve heard this said). Never mind public education is a fairly new concept, historically speaking (and it is a good thing in many ways! Mandatory, free, basic education has eliminated illiteracy in many places for example. The concept started out with worthy goals, etc - have they strayed from them and why? Lack of care or just resources?)
Obviously, all of that is going to vary by who is doing it and why and if they have the time and resources and desire to do it properly.
Socially, you can absolutely create community elsewhere - when my mom was doing it with us, we went to the library every single week and met up with a bunch of other kids and planned social stuff and educational group trips to places like the science centre and the art and history museums. We mixed our book learning with practical skills - one person knew a sewing teacher, one person negotiated a discount for swim lessons, the library offered French lessons among its many other programs. And of course to supplement grade standard education lesson books, like math, spelling, etc, we were ALWAYS taking out books from the library, both fiction and non fiction. So there are absolutely ways to get a rounded education and a social life. I would say even more so now than when the concept was new for me 15-20 years ago.
But on the other hand, there are the horror stories, and success stories don’t circulate half so well. The people who isolate their kids to abuse them, don’t teach them anything, make them do chores all day beyond age appropriate responsibility or physical ability, etc. also the deliberate obfuscation of certain information or topics because of personal ideology, usually religious, because you know. Somehow education equates belief (sarcasm. Example: I learned people used to think the world was flat. Guess what? I don’t believe that).
These are just some random thoughts, feel free say it doesn’t make sense lol. I do believe if that’s what you want to do, and you have the love and time and ability and patience etc, and financial freedom for at least one parent to do it (someone’s gotta work unfortunately), then go for it. But do it right, and find as many resources as you can. Unfortunately there are people who go into it without preparation and for the wrong reasons and I can see why people believe kids need access to third parties somewhere in their lives, and school might as well be it. Like there’s very much merit and drawbacks on both sides. I think there’s kids who could come out from both systems with abysmal skills, and from both with stellar skills, (I’ve met both types), it’s just really gonna boil down to individual circumstances.
This is all really really interesting, thank you for the ask!! I knew some of this stuff but not all of it. And I don't think I knew you were homeschooled at one point, that's so cool!! (Oh and you're never gonna hear judgement about conspiracy theory sounding stuff from me lol)
#additionally i am friends with many homeschoolers and they are some of the smartest people i know#one is helping run a small business that is worth a lot of money#one is in college to become an interpreter#and there are many others!#thanks for the ask!!#homeschooling

I'm not really good at sending in imagine stuff but lately I've really been thinking about Nagito as a dad, not because I'm hormonal or anything (lie), but because I am delusional (true).
Imagining fictional men as fathers always makes me feel better when the stupid world is being well, stupid. If that means picturing Nagito holding his baby, insisting he won't cry, then bawling his eyes out cause he considers himself "So lucky!" for the chance, then sometimes that's just what you gotta do!
Valid, anon. I also find myself imagining characters as parents and it's just so nice (even in a non yandere sense).
The thing with Nagito is that he is very sure that he can provide enough for the baby (being from a wealthy family and winning the lottery helps), but he's so worried about being a good dad towards his child. He doesn't hold himself to a high standard, but at the same time he's going to love the hell out of this baby and make sure they're loved and appreciated. It stems from his childhood experiences and how he lost his parents (and dog) at such a young age.
So not only that, but he's going to be holding you closer than ever because his worst fear is his luck cycle taking the two of you away. You two are his light within the darkness; the shining beacons of hope and the love he has been wishing for the longest. He's never letting that go anytime soon.
There's a big part of me that sees him being a girl dad or a dad with twins (one boy and a girl). It's just this feeling deep within that screams that!
He really does think to himself that he's the luckiest man alive once he holds the baby! It's just a cute thought: him appreciating the sight of this little bundle. His hands are shaking so much and he definitely cries streams of tears (like in the anime but he's going to sob a little).
#There are so many characters I can think of who'd just make lovely parents#☆moondust.answers☆#yandere nagito#Just in case since there are hints#A smidge of yandere in here#Very soft yandere stuff
