the beauty of skyrim's unmarked locations is that you can stroll up to like, a bear cave and after you kill the bear you just like find a corpse called like, bjorn bear-exploder and you loot him and you find an unique weapon like. the bear exploder sword that has a 10% chance of exploding bears and is completely dick useless. and then you just move on with your life.

I just had some...thoughts... about sticking animal heads on human shoulders. Bear with me.
I think the reason some anthros look really strange (I’m looking at you, Skyrim) is because animal skulls don’t attach to their spines the same way ours do. Our spines and skulls are very vertical, but many animals’ are closer to horizontal.
Tumblr media
Some people solve this by giving the animal skulls a human skull shape on the back. But, to me it makes them look somehow bald(??) and just kinda weird in general. If, instead, you change their necks to curve so that the spine still connects where their four legged counterparts’ do, they no longer look yucky! (And also don’t need a hair-do!)
Tumblr media
This seems especially applicable for animals like big cats, cows, and lizards — animals whose spines attach very horizontally to their heads.
Tumblr media
Anyway, enjoy some more art I did while having these very specific thoughts.

Hi I’m new to your blog! I recently discovered the Kaiden mods from a video I watched. I then subsequently discovered all the controversy, and have decided not to support those mods (although I was already on the fence because I generally don’t like companions/characters that are added by mods). The thing is, I was really interested in the extended reactions of vanilla companions (both towards each other and towards the Dragonborn). Do you know of any mods that add something similar? Thanks so much!
Heya welcome to the blog! Sorry its kinda dead at the moment lmao
Unfortunately, I don't know many mods that extend on vanilla followers.** The only ones that really come to mind are for Serana (Serana Dialogue Add-On or Serana Dialogue Edit) & Lydia (Improved Follower Dialogue- Lydia). And even then, from what I remember, there isn't much reaction to other vanilla followers?? But others might be able to help out with recommendations!
**extend on them without the use of AI i should specify. I try to avoid promoting mods that use the ElvenLabs & other sorts of ai voice/art. To my knowledge, the 3 I mentioned either splice dialogue or hire a new va for the character!!

Workshop Progress: March Update
Good [timezone], Workshop Spectators! After our excellent launch of KRCE back in December (and a well deserved staff break), we've been back at it behind the scenes; on-boarding our six new staff members, handling bug fixes, and cooking up the first batch of new KRCE exclusive content!
We're a few weeks into our donation drive to cover our new content, and progress has been excellent!
Tumblr media
We have enough to cover our first session with Paul, so our staff has been busy hammering out the first slate of scripts and playtesting our internal KRCE 2.0 build for the new quests these scripts will be covering. Nearly all of them have been expanded on in clever ways that we're keeping close to our chest until launch.
Before we get into that though, we held a poll back in January asking the community a number of different questions regarding changes to KRCE content the staff were considering.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many discussions sprouted from the latter question regarding Kaidan's moral compass, some so compelling that our staff is still reeling from the potential it has for future content packs.
As of right now, we haven't decided which quests Kaidan will avoid doing -- our first slate of new content (mercifully) doesn't have any content that our favorite swordsman would find distasteful -- but as always, we will keep you updated as those decisions materialize. So what exactly is part of the first slate of new content?
The Intro Overhaul Pack -- What started as just a 1 for 1 integration of WarTortle's Immersive Kaidan Start has now expanded to include a few new conversations and immersive details to help smooth out the narrative mystery behind Kaidan's past, particularly for players who are new to TES lore. Paarthurnax Quest Expansion Compatibility -- Created by the amazing JaySerpa, PQE hooks wonderfully into Kaidan's existing narrative about redemption. We've managed to work into a few subtle nods to Kaidan's dark past for players who haven't completed his personal quest. I'm Glad You're Here Compatibility -- Exactly what it says on the tin. This pack includes integration with our nickname system as well!
The Book Pack -- In addition to creating new lines for each book Kaidan receives, we have also implemented a system where the player can then ask him what he thought about said book. Some of these books also have conditional dialogue, depending if the player has or hasn't completed certain quests. There's also a new mini-quest built into this book system that will unlock... [REDACTED] Pack -- a brand new way to engage with Kaidan. Trust us, you're going to love it.
We'll see you next month!

Workshop Budget: A Breakdown, 2025 Edition
As we begin to focus on the next leg of our project - new content - it's time for a new budget proposal! Our previous proposal, made to cover the expenses for revoicing the Kaidan 2 base mod, was a slam dunk as far budgeting goes; we were able to successfully achieve our original goals all while staying under budget. You can look over the budget report covering those expenditures here. For this new proposal, we are focused on creating the new content outlined in our Future Plans section here, plus a few extra surprises to bolster them even further. For the sake of transparency regarding script pricing, you can find the Indie Rate Guide for voice actor pricing that we are referencing for our budget here (specifically, the 'suggested' per hour payment of $250). After reviewing the scripts in production and estimating how many lines we feel we need to realize each of them, we have set our budget goal at $2600; this covers the costs for approximately 800-1000 lines, plus the associated fees assessed by Paypal. The remaining money from our previous budget proposal has been rolled into the new funds accordingly. Please note that our project is strictly non-profit; all funds raised are to commission Mr. Warren and other artists for their services. You can donate to the Workshop via our Ko-Fi & Paypal. We will update the below image every few days to reflect the current progress of our donations.

Workshop Update - KRCE 1.1 Release & Anniversary Event Info!
It's your friendly neighborhood Community Team swinging in with some announcements and our KRCE 1.1 update!
First off, we’ll be hosting a public Workshop event celebrating our two year anniversary on Thursday, February 27th, at 2PM CST/3PM EST/8PM GMT via our Discord Stage. You can subscribe to the event here. We’ll be reviewing our End of Year budget report, as well as presenting our new budget proposal for the next leg of our planned content. We’ll also talk about the results of the last Community poll, reveal some new additions to our first planned update, and read a few of our newest scripts in development to hear your feedback. With that out of the way, here are the notes for the KRCE 1.1 update!
KRCE 1.1 Changelog – SAFE TO UPDATE MIDSAVE
Added matching modular armor boots to Kaidan's default post-rescue clothes
Swapped the one meat and two fish barrels in Autumnwatch that respawned with no respawn versions; all other containers appear to be set as no respawn
Set Autumnwatch cell as NoResetZone
Added a new global variable, KW_FollowDistance that is default set at 0 for medium. It is toggled to 1 for closer and 2 for further away via dialogue commands in the "Do you have a moment?" Options menu
Added two extra follow packages with different near and far options to Kaidan's KW_K02 alias in support of the follow distance toggle
After selecting pronouns, the menu now goes up a level to Options instead of staying in pronouns, consistent with the other Options submenus
Added condition to initial dismiss line (about returning to Falkreath) to check if Autumnwatch has been purchased
Added map marker to the Abandoned Prison (Kaidan) for the first objective of A Bounty for the Hunter
Moved nickname line "You've got a big roar, Little Dragon..." to a main quest idle when the player uses Clear Skies on the way up the Throat of the World
Added new option to the nickname menu that lets players ask Kaidan to stop calling them by a specific nickname, rather than requiring a total reset and reselection of the nicknames you do want: "Please stop calling me..." > (list of nicknames that are currently selected)
Fixed spelling "Nevermind." > "Never mind."
Added the line "It may take some time to fully translate it." to the journal entry for stage 25 of All of This Past (the early dossier route, if the player found the dossier before fully translating the sword)
Added missing script fragment to advance the quest All of This Past to stage 30, for those who found the dossier early/before translating his sword

Workshop Update: January 2025
Howdy Workshop Spectators! This is a pretty thick update, so please read through it carefully.
It's been a little over a month since our initial release; excluding a few minor bugs, it's gone exceedingly smooth. We'll be rolling out our first round of bug fixes soon; we thank you for your continued patience!
To that end, we're incredibly thrilled to have clinched a spot for Nexus's January Mod of the Month! The reception from the community at large has been overwhelmingly positive, and the Staff is humbled by your praise.
Speaking of the Staff; for those of you who have applied to join the Workshop staff, all candidates have received their respective set of follow-up questions. You have until February 10th to respond with your answers, or you will be removed from the candidacy pool.
Moving right along, the Workshop's Two Year Anniversary is coming up on February 27th! We'll be hosting a celebration on the server on both the 27th & 28th -- the event invite will be shared next week, so look forward to it.
We'll be going over the 2024-2025 End of Year budget report, presenting our new budget proposal for the next leg of our project, and showing off some of the new Workshop Original scripts we have cooking behind the scenes. Additionally, we'll be going over the results of the newest community poll.
As we focus in on creating new Kaidan content, one of the core problems our Writing Team has run into is how to handle his morality with regards to certain choices the player can make. In short, the moral compass of the original iteration of Kaidan is effectively centered around the Player; there aren't any quests or objectives that are too 'evil' to deter his support of the Player.
While functionally this does allow for players to keep him throughout their playthrough, regardless of their actions, it also makes Kaidan's existing narrative regarding redemption and carving his own path fall flat (kind of hard to say you're a changed man if you're only mildly miffed that the Player blotted out the sun). Our writers feel that there are certain 'points of no return' that Kaidan would narratively have; where if a Player insisted on engaging in certain questlines or decisions (e.g. blotting out the sun), Kaidan would refuse to be morally complicit.
Therefore, we bring this query to you all: should Kaidan's moral compass be player-centric, or should it be narrative-centric?
A narrative-centric Kaidan would have questlines that he would refuse to participate in, scaling all the way up to possibly leaving your employ (or worse if you're married - the betrayal! the angst!). A player-centric Kaidan might complain about your evil ways, but will never leave the player.
Besides that doozy of a question, we're also seeking some feedback regarding the inclusion of the legacy wedding clothing (do you use it? can we overhaul them into something nicer?), as well as what to do with our beloved Autumnwatch (how would you feel about us moving the location? what about a full design overhaul?).
You can find the poll here -- voting ends on February 14th, 11:59PM CST.
As always, we thank you for your continued support!
