I have seen many clips of Hazbin Hotel. And while I do enjoy some of it (some of the songs, Alastor and Vox in general) I do have to admit as well there is stuff I do not like.
I do not like how rushed the show is. If each episode is supposed to be a month like everyone claims then jesus fuck that is just…bad…bad story writing. And leaves very little for development. Angel has the most development as of now I believe?
Then there is some of the characters, mainly Mimzy and Cherri Bomb. They are…not good. Mimzy is a selfish brat, but then again I think she was originally always supposed to be that way so I will give her some slack there. But Cherri Bomb feels like someone who wants to reenforce unhealthy coping mechs, which sucks since she is Angel’s friend. Now I should state, I remember Hazbin and got into it when it was just a Pilot and the Addict music video was our only source of canon Hazbin content, so maybe i am bias in that front. But ughh. Idk man. Maybe its because im happy Angel is improving himself i dont want someone else to ruin that for him :/.
And this is more fandom critical so I hope u dont mind but. I really fucking hate the shipping wars going on. Especially now since Hells Greatest Dad where Alastor says Charlie can call him dad to get under Lucifer’s skin. Vizie, who will i have problems with, told people they could go nuts with shipping i believe in an old tweet! But noooo. Just fight fight fight. But even then, how the fandom reacts in gen is why i rather stay on the sidelines and just talk about the show with friends. The fandom is fucking scary :(.
I've seen rumors around that they've had things progress at the pace of your average tween-produced Wattpad fanfiction because they couldn't certainly count on a second season... which to my knowledge, they will be getting, so that makes the decision sadder in hindsight.
But I do feel you in that last paragraph, Anon. Sometimes it's best to chill in a corner with our shows and keep a great distance from all the empassioned lunatics.
#confession#hazbin hotel#hazbin hotel critical#Mimzy's design annoys me because she's supposed to be from the 1920s and her costume is super stereotypical#and I AM into something set in the 1920s (Lackadaisy) so the difference is pretty glaring#not that I really uh. watched her ep either. most Hazbin Hotel exposure I get is from Spilling The Milk videos#good channel. do recommend

"I had choice paralysis :(" is a KILLER line.
He's such a comedic powerhouse, I'm glad more people are getting exposed to him :'D
#smosh#smosh pit#tntl#shayne topp#zac oyama#tommy bowe#try not to laugh#dropout#smosh tntl 149 for anyone looking for the full video! since this took off :)#okay this broke containment noticeably so some additional context for anyone wondering#guy in trench is zac oyama. extremely funny comedian. he's on a streaming service called dropout. I advise looking up 'Make Some Noise' on#yt and watching the full episodes/compilations available for free there#He is in a youtube video with Smosh cast in an improv format they do called 'Try Not To Laugh'. Smosh cast folks are also very funny- a good#proportion of them at this point are also prifessional comedians. There are other Try Not To Laugh videos. a LOT of them. they can be#hit or miss but a lot of them are quite good (blind pairs or the musical episodes are all pretty good)#Smosh has multiple channels- this one is called Smosh Pit ajd also has other stuff they do. Challenge Pit is also quite funny. there is also#smosh games channel. smosh cast channel. and the main smosh channel#tbh i recommend looking up compilations of cast members to figure out what content you might find compelling but they make a pretty broad#spread of stuff at this point so odds are decent youll find something funny. esp if you already watch dropout :)#ok infodump over. glad ppl are having fun with this lol

i need to pay a subscription for some kind of documentary service but i dont want your standard documentaries. where else am i gonna find some guy talking about the history of the brown lego pieces other than youtube. but youtube's algorithm absolutely WILL NOT recommend me content longer than 30 minutes no matter how hard i try, it refuses to believe i could possibly enjoy anything other than shortform content
#im begging please AT LEAST 30 minutes. Please. that is my absolute bare minimum#im so sick of 10 minute youtube videos. even 20 minutes isnt worth it half the time#so tired of refreshing my recommended and there's One video that's 30 minutes long in a sea of 10 minute videos. sometimes 5 minutes#find one good guy and go to their channel and it's just a bunch of 20 minute videos bc the long one was a one-off#shoutout to those 2-5 hour videos of people ranking episodes from shows that i dont care about#youtubers are also mostly unprofessional about it. i dont want a professional-feeling video i want whatever hbomberguy is doing#they're well edited and VERY thorough but i dont feel like im being talked to by a business man. THAT is what i want#im not gonna find that off youtube im gonna find something that would be on animal planet#chat

yesterday i spent 45 minutes of my life watching a video essay criticising the use of cheap shock values and crossing of taboos for a video game and i went from "he has a point even if he's explaining it in a really inflammatory way" to "oh umm... i can see how he thinks that way even if i don't agree" to "oh this guy's just straight up using people on tumblr as material for an audience to get mad at like other outdated people on the internet. nvm he's just an asshole"
#yuu rambles#it was about the coffin of andey and leyley btw - i agreed w him on the first half of the video about how it felt rather noncommittal to it#concepts and themes but i recognise its not really *trying* to be serious which means its not a reasonable#framework to judge the intention and execution of its work - an apple pie does use butter in it but just bc it does#doesnt mean you get to compare it to steak; a dish that also uses butter. this is intuitively easy to understand for me#but nonetheless it was like 3 am i had stuff to do so i just put it on my background to listen#he makes a diss at “people on tumblr” early on that i just raised my eyebrow at but shrugged it off bc its such an old joke#its lost its zinger; and im p sure its just confirmation bias from going into the tags of the thing you dont like lol if you use tumblr#normally you wouldn't come across things you dont like bc you'd have blocked them. But Anyways#then at the end he got sooo self righteous about how people on tumblr are insane and weird and showed screencaps about how twisted everyone#who likes the game are. there were some screenshots of people's post that were like “incest is bad and shouldn't be explored in media.#paragraph break‚ me who is an incest survivor and finds it helpful for working through my trauma: lol”#those types of post. but then lmfao he started going out of pocket and just mentioned the lists of other people he doesnt like which are#a screenie of a video essay about how kink is important at pride#and then some other stuff i dont remember anymore w the tumblr screenies#it was very mockingly written and said and at the end of it i felt sad i couldnt#block people on youtube lmao. like its not i dont want this guy to comment on my videos. i dont want to see his channel involuntarily#recommended to me ever again. just resorted to the most base sort of trolling behaviour he accused and judge other game devs for in his#video essay. good fucking god. the psychological projection is unreal#i dont have any strong feelings towards the game at the end of it even though i thought i would be like Eugh at first#but my bleh for any cheap gimmicks is overshadowed by my disdain for this guy's reliance on self righteous rhetoric#i discovered another new channel i really like tho after that vid!! bc i had to watch smth else to cleanse my palate lmao#they're jacob geller and freddydude! ive only seen one vid from freddydude about his essay on#detention‚ the horror game set in taiwan during the era of white terror under new cn leadership after ww2#im personally quite jumpy so his humour and the way he edits his videos to make it silly even though its Scary#made me like it a lot!! im going through jacob geller's other vids but ive watched three specific types of terror#and the one about pinocchio which made me go :00 wow his scripts are super good!#again everything at your own discretion esp w the whole james somerton shit‚ but i enjoyed what I've seen so far#i just wanted to end this in a somewhat positive note JSHDKSJDJD the ramblings Continue...#theres a pedantic error in one of ky tags but im gonna update it when im on comp bc mobile sucks smh my head

Youtubers you have beef with less because of their problematic content (although the content is very problematic) and more because they’re just so fucking annoying
#call me a hater cuz I am one but I DO like watching commentary videos#on problematic YouTubers#rn I’m watching a video about Paul and Morgan#and their response to the shiny happy people docuseries#(highly recommend if you feel you can handle the very very heavy topics presented in it)#they were featured in the series and they are Not Happy#and yes they’re problematic#but god I want to fucking throat punch the both of them cuz they both just get on my damn nerves#like I hate girl defined too but I don’t want to throat punch them they just make me roll my eyes#THESE TWO HOWEVER#I think I could take em. dennys parking lot I could take em both in a fight#the channel im watching the video from makes good content I like them a lot#I just can’t fucking stand these two like smth about the way they act is so goddam annoying

oughh I agree so hard with you w/ death stuff. Tbf I've never actually seen a dead body close up or had someone close to me die so idk if my feelings will change after that but I think we're a part of nature and should return to nature after death
YA ive only ever seen dead bodies who have been prepared (in person at least, ive seen pictures of unprepared bodies) so yk. but ive lost a couple of family members and i just think likee. speaking from experience when you dont have the time with the deceased to process the death. it makes it sm harder to like. Feel your grief. bc yr so pushed into the like. Well the funerals over so grieving is done
#theres jusr sooo much.#IDK if yr aware but caitlin doughty (ask a mortician on youtube) has a couple of rly good books on death ive only read her first 2 (the 3rd#is on hold rn 🙏🙏) that i highly recommend ALSO obviously her yt channel... her videos r rly rly rly insightful#shes a huge advocate of green burial (she owns a green burial funeral home) so i think a lot of her stuff could be rly relevant to you!#specifically i recommend her video reacting to famous film corpses MAINLY rhe second half of the video#where she visits a facility (idt thats quite the word) where they make animal feed blocks out of cremated remains#i saw u mention youd like to be eaten by animals after death and currently with all the legal stuff i thjnk thats one of the best/only ways#2 do that rn :]] ALSO her 2 human composting videos r less abt feeding animals and more abt feeding plants obviously. but still very#interesting and ties into the returning to nature stuff...#APOLOGIES IF U ALREADY KNOW HER. shes one of my idols DNFNFJNF so i shill 4 her every chance i get#i love love love her videos basically. highly recommend her cannibalism trilogy as well.. a lot of her videos r judt very insightful#a2t

God grant Cliopher a quick and merciful autism that he might say “I refuse to touch polar fleece” “no bad touch” “denim bad no” and thereby rid Ylette of 2/3 of the room.
#I for one don't touch polar fleece satin or denim#I don't know the names of the other things I don't touch#today I touched a journal that looked like it was going to feel like straw#but it was a good touch!#I made Hyacinth hold it so that he would know this good touch#there was a leather bag that was a bad touch next to a different (more suede?) one that was a good touch#and there was a mug that was hideously impractical but had really nice ridges#Nimblermortal liveblogs#the hands of the emperor#look at me having opinions on fabric and getting waylaid by the fashion chapter#whoda thunk#maybe this is because I've been watching the Welsh Viking youtube channel on clothes?#he keeps recommending wool - which is great! - but one commenter made the very salient point#that wool can be as accurate as it likes if you're reenacting in Alabama it's not happening#one thing I do notice about the clothing descriptions is that like. Goddard will mention a fabric and the threads or colors that go into it#but she WILL NOT SAY what the actual garment looks like#and I think this is very brave and skillful of her

( @amarriageoftrueminds tags) this is too fucking true
steve rogers: pr disaster | gen | 4k
(someone asked about the full version of this, so here u go)
“Wait,” says Sam, “you had a publicist?”
“For my first five months at S.H.I.E.L.D,” says Steve. “Then she quit. Uh, decisively.”
“Well yeah, she had to keep you in line,” Bucky says with a half-smirk. “How many times did you make that poor lady want to sock you in the face?”
“Lost count,” Steve admits. “I did offer to let her, once. Seemed fair.”
Sam laughs. “I feel like you’re sitting on a story here.”
“There’s no story,” Steve tells him. Sam raises his eyebrows. Bucky’s half-smirk tilts towards a full smirk. “Seriously,” Steve repeats, “no story.”
Interlude: The Story of Steve “Walking PR Nightmare” Rogers, and How For a Short While He Single-Handedly Destroyed the Emotional Health of Eva Laura Ortiz, His Now Ex-Publicist
Keep reading
#steve rogers#meta#Stucky fic#kinda#also the part about steve going against his own people in the name of doing good is one of the many things I relate to steve about#because rn (if you can believe) a lot of Irish people are talking bad about immigrants coming here to live here#there was even some people who threw a few of the ‘asylum seekers’ tents into the river#and NOBODY was was talking about how horrible it was#like I’ve had family who I thought I could look up to#talk shit about immigrants and talk about them as if they’re the feckin devil#it’s disgusting#especially considering the fact that our people not 100 hears ago were looked down upon and ridiculed#Irish people couldn’t even get jobs in America before I think the mid 1900’s#look up N.I.N.A signs btw if you wanna know more#I recommend learning about it#and considering we still don’t have our 6 counties back and it’s 2024 is insane#and these people are worried about people needing homes and trying to be safe#when there’s a fucking housing crisis in Dublin#I mean young people are paying a grand a month for student housing#they also just paid NINE FUCKING MILLION EURO on fucking phone pouches for schools#instead of using that money to help the mental health services where suicidal.#depressed kids are being told to take a hot bath or a walk#instead of being given help#it’s fucking insane#steve would go bonkers if he saw what his mother country is today tbh#anyway rant over#steve come to Ireland and rip these stupid politicians apart please#the news channel is currently on rn and our taoiseach 🤢 is talking a nd I want to kms just hearing him

Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
And this gem 👇
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)
Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)
BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)
Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)
Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)
Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)
Pikat (art advice and critiques)
Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)
Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)
Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
"also apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I have Dyslexia and it makes my brain go XP when it comes to speech or writing"

this autumn has really come through with the good books i've been reading some absolute bangers the last couple months
#read butter by asako yuzuki all thru september & just finished the dutch house by ann patchett & WOWWWW. both vvv good.#will be haunting the psyche for a good long while#inbetween those for something to do on my phone i've been rereading patrick ness aka my old fave ya author from my teenage years#i was so not normal about the rest of us just live here back in the day and I WAS RIGHT. it's sooo good#10/10 ya#i don't rlly read ya anymore but patrick ness is kinda like lovely high quality easy reading + nostalgia#was also such a big writing inspiration for me as a teenager morai was DIRECTLY inspired by the chaos walking series <3#anyways. i've not got a tv license at my new place so i can only watch channel 4 and while it does contain many delights there's only so-#-much taskmaster one can watch. hence all the light reading as well as some absolute bangers#cried so much at the dutch house :( but WOULD RECOMMEND#as with butter. rewrote my whole brain chemistry nglll

thinking about someday making a catalogue of different ASMRtists I enjoy. and u could sort it by language, gender, vibe, etc.
#throwback to when YouTube used to pretty much exclusively recommend Black ASMRtists to me and I seriously considered doing this#like there were 8 I was watching at one time#and I’m sure there’s at lot of people out there who want to support Black creators but don’t know where to start#now YouTube is recommending much fewer to me#mostly instead picking more obscure European language channels in a big soup of mostly Korean ASMRtists#quite the eclectic assembly#like there are at least 10 different languages I’ve watched ASMR in and I think having a database for language explorers would be good#idk#I ramble#asmr

On my experience you have to go into your youtube history and PURGE any instance of what you’d consider a negative video; as well as make liberal use of the do not recommend button. I once had to find a way to keep youtube from sending me only negative videos bc it was actually starting to physically hurt to watch them. This is the only solution that worked, and it took about a month of dedicated removing stuff to start seeing the results.
You go into your history and there should be an X at the top right of the little tile. You click on it and youtube removes that video from you watch history, which actually takes it—and videos like it—out of the pool of videos it recommends you. I had to go back about 2 years worth of videos to finally clear out enough of them to convince youtube I didn’t want it.
This trick works with anything you don’t want recommended to you anymore btw. If you keep getting spammed with victorious videos bc younwatched that one essay for example, you could delete all of thos videos from history and you’ll stop seeing them pretty quickly.
diagram of every video in my recommended
#also clicking don’t recommend this channel has been way more effective to me than don’t recommend this video#however those options DO work you just have to actually hit the tell us why option and click on at leasts one option#i remember it was so hard to stop watching cinemasins-like critic videos#but i had to quit cold turkey#since if i even clicked ONE of those videos progress went back to swuare one#but! the good news is#that videos gushing about stuff they love ARE out there!#they just get smushed down by the videos that’ll make you angry)

"the magnus protocol had a whole ARG beforehand? what?"
yes! it did!
"oh so I need to have participated in this whole big thing to actually understand the podcast?"
not at all! from the official post-mortem put out by RQ, "while the ARG was not something that was necessary to participate in to understand the magnus protocol, it was designed to contain a wealth of background story and context that would enrich any player's listening experience."
"a wealth of background context that would enrich my listening experience 👀👀👀 how can I learn about this?"
SO glad you asked. sadly, many of the materials made for the arg have been taken down since the game ended 😔 (ex., the official OIAR, magnus institute, and bonzoland websites. (edit ii: I found partial wayback machine captures! see below) though @strangehauntsuk is still up!), so we're a bit low on primary sources, but in terms of learning about what happened:
for a starting point, I would really recommend this video by @pinkelotjeart
youtube
it's super accessible, it was made in real time as the game progressed and follows the solving and revelation of clues as they happened, it hits all the major points of the mystery and moments of community insanity while eliding some of the nitty gritty puzzle grinding, 10/10 would recommend.
here's the official summary put out by RQ, and I'd recommend reading through this once you've already gotten a basic handle on the flow of the story and the basic connections between major clues and events. it's got some fun behind-the-scenes info and lays out the thought process behind the puzzles in simple terms
here's the full masterdoc of all puzzles and resolutions put together in the statement remains discord server. masterdoc my absolute BELOVED, masterdoc my bethrothed, masterdoc my soul mate. I'd recommend this as a second port of call after the above video as it either contains all details about the puzzles or links to other expanded docs that do.
here's the narrative summary doc that lays out all the plot and lore discovered in three pages of plain prose. if you just want to get to the good bits as fast as you can and get blasted directly in the face by contextless lore bombs, this is the doc for you. if you don't want to start with the video, I'd say this is another good entry point.
once you've got the lay of the land, some of the game materials that I found particularly interesting include:
the in-universe east germany expat usenet forum, with all content translated into english. most of it is irrelevant space filler with occasional extremely sus lore, but I still found it fun to read through. love to soak in some fictional forum drama.
chdb.xlsx, the spreadsheet of the names of all the children the protocol 'verse magnus institute was studying/experimenting on. EDIT: here is a version of the sheet without any annotations and with all of the names in their original order, kudos to @theboombutton for catching that the commonly shared copy had the order swapped around.
klaus.xls, a (very corrupted) spreadsheet with what looks like the classifications of a bunch of old OIAR cases.
EDIT: have a few more saved materials from the game that I forgot to include.
an in-universe audio ad to apply to the OIAR that ran before archives episodes and kicked off the whole game.
an in-universe video ad to apply to the OIAR, this one is an official upload that's still up from the game itself. you can subscribe to the OIAR's official youtube channel today, if you so chose.
the robo-voicemail greeting from the OIAR's phone line.
EDIT II:
here is a wayback machine capture of the OIAR's official website.
here is a wayback machine capture of the bonzoland website.
(pretty sure both of the above captures just archived the home pages, though I haven't tried clicking all of the links. I'd say they're still worth looking at, the home pages give a good window into the vibes.)
once you start poking around in these documents, you'll find a bunch of links to others with further information, the materials I've included here just contain what I feel to be the most relevant details to getting a broad feel for the whole game. once again, huge shout out to the statement remains server, I was barely in there as the ARG was in progress and only ducked my head in every so often to find links like these. true mvps of the fandom.
#gonna pin this for a bit because every day I get 2-5 asks saying 'there was an arg? how do I learn about it?'#tmagp#video#marina marvels at life
