im not sure how i feel about the amateur video essay format taking the place of journalism and for some people, i think just actual nonfiction books. like i like video essays, but you guys are reading about those topics too, right?
#ive always felt this way a little but especially after that hbomb video im like should we trust anything on this website ever?#ironically i trust hbomb himself less after that video just because it made me kinda lose faith in the whole platform#just kinda reminded me that none of these people have any credentials at all#and the only reason they are youtubers is because they are performers#not because they have any expertise—they just like being in front of cameras#i actually was also thinking abt this because of what hannah witton has been doing recently#and hannah witton has a history degree but she talked a lot about all the sexology books she had to read#and the fact that she kinda started her channel before really gaining that expertise. she learned along the way#which is of course how all jobs work and i think hannah has always been good at hers#but my point is that hannah wasn't a sexologist who started a youtube channel#she was a youtuber who decided to study sexology#and thinking about it in that way really makes me wanna scrutinize everything people post on youtube#i like that hannah is extremely open about what degree she has and what other qualifications she actually has#and acknowledges the gaps in her knowledge and doesn't position her opinion as expertise or present opinion as fact#which all sounds like basic shit but you can't expect it from youtubers which is just frustrating#i only have like 2 faves who even make shit this would apply to but my recommended feed is a travesty these days#bri babbles

ok so I'm particularly interested in
Bellamy Law
Law and Bible stuff
Law is a substitute kindergarten teacher
shichibukai applications
reverse hanahaki disease (?? do u spit out flowers when your nemesis walks by?)
if you feel like elaborating on any of these!
This is gonna get long and I actually contemplated posting them separately but would that have been more work? Yeah, that felt like more work so for anyone interested, check under the cut. :D

Bellamy Law
Hm… This would be an attempt to explore the parallels and contrasts between Bellamy and Law. I've always found it fascinating that the former was a foil to the latter.
They both come from well-off  towns in the North Blue.
Bellamy left because of boredom. Law had no choice because Flevance.
Both ended up seeking Doflamingo  because of  his notoriety as a pirate. Both admired him initially
Doffy favored one over the other though. Bellamy always sought his approval but was never really part of the inner circle Doflamingo cared about.
Law got the dubious privilege of being part of the family despite being absent for so long. Even offered one of the highest seats by Doffy's side for seemingly nothing.
Law had no trouble turning his back on Doffy once he realized the man's nature. Bellamy tried to stick to his principles until the end despite admitting that he new he was wrong.
Bellamy can (and did) quit piracy after his ordeal with Doflamingo. Having the option to live peacefully, perhaps a return to his previous life (the one he considered boring). Law can't do that quite as easily what with his Devil fruit and his reputation.
I thought it would be interesting trying to explore what Bellamy was thinking. Did he hear the Donquixote Pirates talk about their missing 'family'? Did he get to see Doffy be amused at Law's rise as a Supernova while he kept being reminded of his own status? Did Law save Bellamy partially because he also saw what he could have been had Corazon not saved him?
On principle, Bellamy should have hated Trafalgar Law. Does. Bastard even saved him without him wanting it. But there was something about the shadows haunting those eyes and Bellamy started to wonder.
He had heard the family talk about Law before. The child personally taught by Doflamingo, chosen to be his right hand. Never was he compared to the man because Law was just obviously better. Smarter. Stronger. Bellamy was ever just an uncouth thug.
He was allowed to 'borrow' Doflamingo's symbol while Law had an empty seat waiting for his return–a seat Bellamy had wanted enough to risk everything for.
Maybe he had resented, Trafalgar Law for carelessly rejecting the things he had that Bellamy had always desired. In the end too, Trafalgar Law did prove to be better. He'd done as a child what Bellamy had trouble doing even as he was now.
But having been given the chance to observe the other man as they all recovered, he wondered, perhaps for the first time, whether despite Law being better than Bellamy, Bellamy had had it better–barring the poor life choices.

Law and Bible stuff
This is just me wanting to know how many biblical parallels and themes I can draw from Law, the Donquixote brothers, the characters associated with them, and his backstory. Honestly not sure whether this would become a fic and in what style or I'm gonna give up and just make it a post.
Not gonna elaborate on them much but here are the ideas in more bullet points (yay):
Law gets familiar with all four horsemen of the apocalypse: conquest, war, famine, and death. He even survives them.
Law is like the son in the parable of the prodigal son to the Donquixote pirates. Except the themes are inverted.
Doflamingo and Rocinante -> Cain and Abel
Ope Ope no Mi -> Granting eternal life by sacrificing one's own life
Gods descending or living among humans. Also, Homing and his family being prosecuted for other people's sins.
That scene where they were hanged by their arms outstretched looks like a crucifixion. Also, Rocinante was on the right while Doflamingo was on the left. Similar to how the penitent thief was on the right and the unrepentant one to the left.
Flevance being considered a paradise with walls/fences/gates and somewhere Law cannot return to.
In the panel where the Donquixote pirates are seated at the table, there were thirteen of them with Doffy at the center. Same as The Last Supper
There are a lot more of these (David and Goliath, Solomon, Jonah, Job, etc.) but I kinda lost the notes and some are more visual so I can't really explain it too well. This would is a drabble series to emphasize or highlight the parallels so no proper snippet for this one.

Law is a substitute kindergarten teacher
Originally an idea to get around most of the Heart Pirates being nameless but evolved to include other characters as kids. Chopper is a kindergarten teacher and he convinces Law to take over his class for a week because somehow Law has the qualifications to and free time. Naturally, he wasn't able to say no.
Unfortunately, despite not being terrible at handling children, Chopper's class is filled with menaces. Also, despite not being terrible, Law can still be awkward so...
"Mr. Trofao–fargar—"
"Trafalgar."
The kid—which one was this one again? Shit, he should really get them name plates or something—scrunched up his face and tried harder, "Tar-pal—"
"Law. Just call me Law."
"Mr. Low"—eh, close enough—"can I go to the bathroom?" Wide imploring eyes stared up at him.
"Sure, go ahead." Law gestured towards the exit of the classroom with his head.
The kid just stared expectantly at him and he tried to suppress the need to narrow his eyes.
"Is there… anything else?"
"Mr. Chopper always comes with me to hold my hand."
Really?
"Mr. Chopper isn't here. You should practice doing it on your own now." He said after a deep inhale.
"But the monsters might get me…"
"No, they won't."
"You don't know that."
"I do." Before the kid could open his mouth again to argue, he added, "Besides, children taste terrible so you're safe."
The kid looked stricken and took a step back from him. Uh oh. Glistening eyes, wobbling lower lip… "Alright! I'll go with you." The kid did not look reassured. In fact he looked like going alone with Law was the last thing he wanted to do. Guess, he kinda implied that he ate children didn't he? Oops.
Well, the kid needs to go and he's not going to be cleaning up after him if he wets himself.
Law glanced at the rest of the children. It was Arts and Craft time and they seemed preoccupied enough. Still, Law doubted Chopper ever left these kids alone–already he could see some of them glancing up at him, waiting for him to leave no doubt to cause trouble. That Monkey kid in particular looked extremely suspicious.
He stood up from his crouch and clapped twice to get everyone's attention.
"Alright. Fall in line. Single file."
There was some grumbling and questioning directed at him. "What's going on?"
Law shrugged. "You're all going to the bathroom."

Shichibukai Application Forms
Crackfic where the World Government and relevant parties review various Shichbukai Applications. Most submitted by the pirates applying themselves, some produced by their own staff. They discuss and debate. As well as judge pirate resumes.
She scanned the document. Terrible format, really. If you fail to impress within the first page, you've failed entirely. There just wasn't anyone promising enough in this batch of applications or any of the other ones before. The last one had been that clown. "Apprentice to the Pirate King," was a pretty hefty credential.
"Oh, how about this one? Three years experience pillaging, and they even listed all the towns they looted." One of the newly transferred administrative staff said.
"None of these are worth considering at all. You know, when Mihawk was asked to submit his application, he hadn't bothered with all of this. He just sent us a card with his name on it and the title "World's Strongest Swordsman," underneath."
The staff perked up. "Oh, there was an application like that." There was scramble and some shuffling before a plain white card was produced. "Here."
"'From Trafalgar Law'. What does this even mean?"
"Well, it did come with a big box..."

Reverse Hanahaki Disease
(?? do u spit out flowers when your nemesis walks by?)
Haha. At first it was going to be that way (because it is hilarious) but the inflicted would probably choke to death too soon. Or if both enemies had it, they'd end up just coughing flowers at each other until they stopped being enemies.
The version I ended up going with was that this variant of Hanahaki, instead of afflicting those with unrequited love, affected those in denial instead. The reverse part comes from the original idea that this would usually happen if you somehow fell in love with your nemesis (someone you originally hated). So it's not the thought that the other person can't love you, it's that you can't accept that you love that other person. You get cured by confessing to the person sincerely.
This is actually another KidLaw (surprise!). And the flower coughed up directly represents the person they're in love with (I went with Oda's flower representation for them because I found it funny for plot)
So the idea is that, you get sick but you don't automatically know (maybe) who it is because that's part of being in denial. Kid and Law have many enemies after all. In this story they both get it though not exactly at the same time and not known to the other.
He survived Amber Lead Syndrome only to be killed off by a stupid flower disease that apparently knows more about his own feelings than he does.
He glared at the petals. Tulips. Red.
An image of a cocky grin and a shock of red hair flashed through his mind and—nope. That's not right.
He coughed harder, tears stinging his eyes with the effort. More flowers. Now he has enough for a bouquet.
Alright, he was a doctor. He could do this. Differential time.
First, which variant does he have. He doesn't particularly feel unloved or hopeless. There wasn't anyone he wanted in particular to love him. Ok, nothing. It was maybe safe to say he had that other variant.
Which was stupid because Law had many enemies and he hated all of them.
And cue the racking coughs. More red. He was very familiar with that particular shade.
New theory. This was a new variant that somehow makes you sick when you think of the person you hated the most.
Yes, that had to be it. He thought as he all but collapsed on the floor from the sudden paroxysm.
I knew this was gonna get long. :) Oh well...
Thank you for playing. :D

You Won’t (PG-13)
Pairing: Grayson x MC (Alexis)
Rating: Don’t read this to your kids but it’s safe. Kinda
Word Count: 1065
Request: @anon Thank you for your patience! :D
Prompt: #49 “I don’t wanna screw this up.”
Extra Note: This can be read as a sequel to “I’ve Got You” or as a standalone fic.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters but I love them like my babies
Although Alexis knew quitting Prescott Industries a year ago was definitely the right thing to do, it didn’t give her any peace. She often found herself floating over Grayson’s apartment building at night like some stalker, hoping she would catch a glimpse of the man Silas ruined for her. Every time she thought she would find peace, the memory of that deformed version of Grayson would permeate her brain. How Silas had manipulated her into thinking that that version of Grayson was real, and how he had wanted to build a life with her only for Silas to defile the image of the kind man with something monstrous.
After she had told the rest of her friends, including Kenji and Eva about everything that happened to her in the other universe, she had turned reclusive, even to her mother. The worst thing about all this was that even though she was the one who demanded Grayson to not look for her, him keeping his promise hurt the most. It wasn’t his fault, she recognised that, of course she did. It didn’t hurt any less.
She started working for a law firm mere days after her resignation was approved. Her new boss was impressed by her credentials and the gleaming letter of recommendation Grayson wrote definitely helped. Much like when she was working for Grayson, she thrived in her new position. Her meticulous eye for detail became invaluable to her new employer and in pockets of time, Alexis managed to live life the way she thought she should.
Her hero work was indefinitely put on hold but hearing Kenji and Eva less and less on the news with the crime rates dwindling down at least put her mind at ease there. But still, something was missing.
It was a particularly long day when all Alexis wanted to do was go home and soak in her tub until she pruned up. After dropping a huge stack of folders on her employer’s desk, she headed out of the building only to bump into none other than Grayson Prescott himself at the entrance. Fear brought one hand up clenched in a fist but through slow breathing and reminding herself that this was not the Grayson Silas had cooked up in the other universe, her fist unclenched and dropped limply by her side.
She saw his flinch and immediately felt guilty. “I’m sorry.” She whispered, casting her eyes downwards to her shoes.
“Don’t be. I…I should have called.” He responded, his voice just as low and confused as hers had been.
Pursing her lips, her eyes moved up to find his and she gulped inaudibly. “What are you doing here, Grayson?” She asked. The man looked at her, the look on his face a mixture of confusion, hurt and defiance. He opened his mouth to answer but no words came. Somehow, she knew exactly what he wanted to tell her but her own pride was getting in the way.
“Will you come have coffee with me?” Grayson finally asked. Against her better judgment, Alexis nodded.
The walk to the nearest coffee shop was filled with an uncomfortable silence, mostly because Alexis wanted so much to tell Grayson about how she had been doing and so did he. They wanted to ask so much of each other but neither knew how to form the words.
Thankfully, they arrived at the coffee shop and could distract themselves with their order but once they were seated with their coffee, they both fell back into the tense silence, fingers fumbling with the cups or the stirrers or the saucers.
Finally, Grayson heaved a loud sigh as he leaned forward, his hand grabbing hers. Much as the move surprised her, she didn’t pull away. “I’ve missed you, Lex. I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise. I had to see you. I’m selfish, I know that but not having you around has been eating away at me.” He ended with another sigh as his eyes searched hers. She held his gaze as a pained smile etched across her lips.
His confession had been exactly what she had been wanting to hear and the fact that he had been just as tormented by her absence as she had by his made it less painful now. But the last time they saw each other hadn’t been pleasant because she was the one who decided to leave. None of this was his fault. Yet here he was, apologising for not keeping his promise.
“I don’t…I don’t wanna screw this up. I don’t know what happened in those months you were gone. But I’m willing to give you as much space as possible as long as you’re still in my life.”
Alexis gripped Grayson’s hand as she felt the back of her eyes prickle.
“Alexis…I like you. I’ve been struggling with these feelings since college but I never got the chance to say anything. And then you started working for me, it especially became hard for me to say anything. But now…now I just need you to know.” Grayson paused for a moment before continuing. “I don’t expect you to return-”
Before he could finish his statement, Alexis had already pressed her lips against his tentatively at first, before placing her hand under his jaw to pull him towards her, deepening the kiss. She heard the chair scrape against the floor before Grayson stood to his full height. He pulled her close to him with one arm around her waist while the other burrowed into the back of her head with his fingers entangled in her hair.
Her moan was muffled by the kiss as she threw her arms around his neck.
A few people whooped in the background, which caused both of them to break the kiss but not their hold on each other. With their foreheads pressed against each other, both Alexis and Grayson laughed at the situation and themselves before he pulled his face up so their eyes would meet. “Could we please stop not seeing each other? I’d very much like my Lex back. In any way possible.”
Alexis blushed and nodded. “Yes. I’d like that very much.” She responded before emitting a groan and burying her face in his chest, laughing to herself.
“What’s so funny?” Grayson asked, running his fingers through her hair.
“Should’ve bought our coffees to go.” She mumbled and Grayson laughed.

Gone, But Not Forgotten (Modern Royalty AU)
Oh look another modern royalty AU, which seems to be a theme with me lately. Although this is just a one shot that came to me when I was stuck on a plane for a few hours. Hope you guys like it!
Summary: Princess Emma needs to get out of Misthaven. Really she needs to stop being a Princess. She's always wanted to be normal, so for now she's running away. She's running away from a lot of things.
AO3
FF
-&-
This wasn't the first time Emma ran away; not even close to the first time actually. It's not that she hates her home or even her parents. She loves them dearly. They just hold such high expectations for her, expectations she's not sure she can live up to. All she wants is a normal life and she can't have that when she lives in a palace with guards. She can't live in a apartment that overlooks the river and have friends over. So she's running away not forever just for a couple months to clear her head get her priorities straight. She’s running away to get over him. She’s running away for a lot of reasons.
Emma has enough money to get an apartment for about four months, give or take. She knows who will be looking for her and they will expect her to go several countries away, but she's going to France adjacent to the small country of Misthaven, that which she calls home. They won't expect her to be so close, to be almost under their noses. Hopefully that will work for a couple months.
She slips past her detail in the middle of the night without them noticing her. It's not uncommon for her to leave to go out for the night, but she usually comes back in the morning. She won't be this time. She catches the last train across the border.
Once in Paris she sits in a twenty-four hour cafe and it’s comforting that no one looks at her twice. That no one knows who she is. She scans the local newspaper for apartments. She finds a charming three bedroom apartment that's looking for a roommate. Nothing else looks ideal really, so once it's an acceptable hour she'll give the number a call.
The women, Elsa, on the other end of the call is nice enough and tells her to meet her at the cafe under her apartment.
Emma meets Elsa in the cafe and the women is distant, but polite. The two women come to an arrangement about the space. Emma claims to be visiting and looking for an authentic experience. Not necessarily a lie, but not the full truth either. The room is furnished, and Elsa and her sister are trying to save some money by having a roommate. No contract, not that Emma minds. That would just lead a trail to her. After she hands over the first month's rent plus a little extra, Elsa hands her a key, and they head upstairs. The room is small, but not tiny and the furniture nice. Better than what Emma hoped for. Emma sets her bags there and heads out into the kitchen.
Elsa seems all business, so hopefully she won't try and be too nosey about Emma's life. That might've been true, but then she met Anna, Elsa’s sister and she was the most cheerful person Emma ever met. She wanted to know everything about Emma.
“What are you doing in Paris?” Anna asks as Emma looks around the kitchen.
“Just trying to get an authentic experience by living with people who know the city,” Emma smiles, trying to edge back to her room.
“Oh that's great! Elsa and I were born and raised here. We can tell you all the good places to go,” she says excitedly. Elsa comes out of her room dressed in a pant suit. Emma raises an eyebrow about to ask a question when Elsa cuts her off before she can start.
“I'm a lawyer and I'm due in court,” she explains to Emma and turns to Anna, “leave the poor girl alone she's probably tired from traveling.” With Elsa’s departure, Emma slips back into her room falling asleep almost instantly.
That night Elsa comes home and the three girls have a lovely dinner that Anna made for them. After her short nap Emma was pulled into the kitchen with Anna and told her as much as she could about herself. She learns a lot about the sisters. Their parents raised them, but they tragically died in a car accident when Elsa was in law school and Anna was still in high school. Elsa had to take care of her sister. Emma barely asked any questions Anna just told her most of this. The dinner is delicious and she learns even more about the two sisters.
Over the next month she develops a nice friendship with the two sisters that she hadn't expected. Normal people make easy friendships though and that's why she was doing this. To be normal. To forget who she is. To forget about him. Emma’s first impression about Elsa was wrong. She appears to be all business, but her and Emma have grown to be close friends.
One night the sisters decide to go out with some of their other friends and invite Emma along. They introduce her to Ruby and her girlfriend, Dorothy, Belle and Will, who apparently won't tell each other how they feel. For some reason Anna felt the need to tell Emma that before entering the bar. They grab a table at the local bar and order some drinks. Ruby starts asking the questions.
“So you're from Misthaven right?” She asks curious and Emma just nods.
“I can't believe their princess is missing that's so tragic,” Belle says. Emma cringes at this. About two days after her departure her parents revealed that she was missing. Her mother looked heart broken. When Emma explains why she did all this her mother will understand, hopefully.
“I know it is,” Anna adds on, nodding solemnly
“You know you kinda look like her,” Ruby says to her. Emma blushes, she wondered if this would come up, but she has something prepared for this.
“Yeah I get that all the time and having the same name as her never helped,” Emma laughs it off and so does the group. They all talk late into night and they only leave after last call. She exchanged numbers with everyone there and it's nice. She hit it off with everyone. She has plans with Ruby to go shopping this week. This could never happen back home. She couldn't have a friend that she could go shopping with without security and an empty store. This is normal and Emma loves it. She felt guilty when they said that the Misthaven Princess had gone missing, but she needs to see who she is without the title and the people will understand that when she returns. Her parents will too. Most importantly here there are no reminders of him. None at all.
Everyday she tried something new or goes somewhere new. She loves every minute of it. She spends time with her new friends and lives her life.
Her new friends are the highlight of her life. Anna is a college student and tells her all the good restaurants to try. Elsa is busy with her job but always joins them for dinner telling them about the crazy criminals she dealt with that day. Ruby owns a boutique and always knows what will look best on Emma. Dorothy is a policewoman and has fascinating stories about her job. Belle works at the library and keeps giving Emma books to read. Will is a local private investigator and is slightly cynical about people. Emma cannot tell if that’s from his job or just who he is, but it's good for the group to have a cynic with someone as happy and optimistic as Anna is. They balance each other out.
It’s a typical Friday night, so they head down to the bar. All her friends are there complaining about something or another and how grateful they are it’s the weekend.
Later in the night a tall, dark man strides up the table. The whole group doesn't stop talking and he only has eyes for Emma. At first she’s the only one who notices him. She never imagined he would come after her. Damn him he looks so good. He’s wearing a black suit jacket and slacks with a white shirt with the first couple buttons open. His chest hair is peaking out of the top of his shirt. Fuck, his blue eyes could pierce a hole through her. He was supposed to be on his boat far away from all of this. He clears this throat never taking his gaze off of her.
“Emma, how nice to see you,” he says with a blank face. He was always tricky for her to read. It wasn't fair he could read her like an open book. He certainly has grabbed the attention of the table. No one says anything just looking from him to her.
“Killian, nice to see you as well,” she says with slight irritation.
“I must admit it was hard to find you. Although you’ve never made it easy,” he says with a slight smirk. He's flirting with her, shamelessly might she add.
“Emma, what is he talking about?” Dorothy asks curious.
“What fun would that be,” she flirts back totally ignoring Dorothy's question.
“Emma, are you going to introduce us to your friend here?” Ruby asks curious to her friend‘s behavior.
“I'm afraid Emma can't. She has to come home with me,” Killian says firmly, still gazing at Emma. Before she can object Dorothy does.
“I don't like your tone of voice and I might be off duty, but I'll have my coworkers here in a heartbeat if you don't back off.” She says her voice full of malice. This caught Killian’s attention, but only for a brief moment. His head snaps back to Emma.
“I'm assuming they don't know who you are,” Killian says and takes her silence as a yes, “Ladies and gentlemen you are in the presence with none other than Princess Emma, heir to the throne of Misthaven. I'm a captain in the Royal Navy and I’m here to bring her home.” Killian states and hands over his credentials to Dorothy, so she doesn't call her cop friends. All her friends look confused looking from one another then to her.
“Emma, is what he saying true?” Elsa asks, skeptical. All of her friends eyes on her.
“Yes, what he says is true and I will explain. I am so sorry. I just need a word with Killian.” Emma says annoyed that he outed her in such a manner. She stands up and moves toward him. She stops right in front of him.
“I can't believe they called you off your ship to come and find me, Lieutenant” she says bitterly.
“They didn't have to and it's Captain now,” he reminds her, “Once I heard of your disappearance I came back immediately. I assumed the worst about you. Until I realized you ran away. Now, we can talk more on the way home. Let's go,” he gestures toward the door.
“I'm not going back right now. My friends deserve an explanation,” she says crossing her arms. The group is looking and listening to her conversation waiting for her.
“You should've have thought about that before you lied to them,” he says harshly.
“When did you become so heartless?” She snaps at him.
“The moment I got on my ship,” he throws in her face, which really she should’ve seen coming. Emma pulls herself together.
“I still outrank you, Captain, so you're going to let me explain to my friends what happened then we're going to my apartment to gather my things and then we will go home.” She commands and he just nods somewhat reluctantly. She leaves him standing there and resumes her seat at the table.
The moment she sits down they ask her questions all at once. She gets them to quiet down and she explains everything and apologizes more times than she can count. The still have questions at the end and she answers them all. Killian stands there annoyed, but says nothing. They forgive her saying that they just wished that they knew the truth. She was so afraid that she would lose them when they found out the truth, but they claim that it doesn’t change how they feel about her. They love her despite who she is and the lies she has told. Nothing else matters right now.
“Okay one final question,” the whole group stares at Ruby, “What's going on with Killian? Are you two together?” Emma blushes.
“That's a complicated question, but we aren't together,” she says staring at him. His eyes are trained one her and for one moment she sees something call it hope maybe even love. Which seems impossible after what she did.
“Emma, you cannot send him away. That won’t solve anything,” Mary Margaret tries to reason with her. She regrets giving Emma this responsibility. The mother thought it would be a distraction from her daughter’s recent break up. The newest ship in their fleet, The Cygnus, needed a captain and she thought Emma should choose the captain. Mary Margaret should’ve realized this was a bad idea.
“Mother, Killian’s the most qualified and is up next for promotion. He’s been a lieutenant for far too long. Liam was made Admiral last year. It’s been his dream for a while now to have his own ship,” Emma says holding back tears. Ending their relationship had been hard, but she needed space. She had to become Queen soon and a Queen cannot be distracted. She needs to be impervious. Interested parties would use him against to control the crown and she couldn’t allow that. This protected them both.
“Emma, please reconsider. You guys have had rough patches in the past. This too will pass,” her mother says.
“Mom, this wasn’t a fight. We’re done. Besides you know I’m right about this promotion. You can’t keep him around here because you’ll think we’ll get back together because we won’t,” Emma says. Mary Margaret knows that Killian deserves this. She practically raised that boy. She just thinks that Emma’s doing this for other reasons. Mary Margaret places a hand on Emma’s shoulder.
“I’ll only say one last thing. Sleep on this decision and remember as Queen the country comes first,” Mary Margaret says walking out of the room.
Emma waited a night per her mother’s request, but the next week Killian’s promotion was announced and the week after he boarded his own ship for the first time. After the Royal family christened the ship it was off on it’s maiden voyage. Emma didn’t come out of her room for days after. Watching him sail away was enough to break heart when it was already hurting. There are so many things Emma wished she did differently and that was one of them. There is no changing the past.
“What's not complicated is the sexual tension. You could cut that shit with a knife. You should do something about that,” Ruby says with an all too knowing smirk. The group laughs and disbands. She hugs them all knowing she may not see them any time soon. Well everyone besides Elsa and Anna, she's still going back to the apartment.
They walk back to the apartment Killian walking behind the three women. Once upstairs Anna focuses her attention on Killian. Asking him a million questions it's quite fun to watch as she packs. Once all her things are packed she hugs the sisters goodbye.
“I know you came here to find yourself, to be normal, but remember that what you do doesn't define you. Your heart does and you have a kind heart. Stay in touch and never forget that or your time with us,” Elsa says with a wisdom only she could have. It almost brings tears to her eyes and as they walk out of the apartment Killian turns to her.
“You know she's right,” he states as the door shuts behind them.
“About what?” She asks.
“You have a kind heart,” he says opening the door for her. Hearing this from him shocks her. The get to the car and she turns toward him.
“How can you say that? After what I did?”
“We both know that what you did was out of necessity towards the crown. I could never ask you to chose between me and the crown,” he says once the climb inside the car.
“But I hurt you and that was the last thing I wanted to do,” she says.
“The only way to get me to go was to hurt me. Emma, I just want to be there for you. In whatever way you need me. Then you needed me at sea,” he says calmly. The car moves down the narrow roads of Paris.
“How can you be this understanding? I thought when I saw you again that you would be furious and hate me. You seemed so angry in the bar and now I don’t understand. I never expected you to come running after me when I ran away,” she rants.
“I was angry in the bar because I had been looking for you for over two months and by this point I was ready to drag you home. I was losing hope that I was ever going to find you. Then I remember who I was dealing with and realized it would be easier to do as you wished then take you home. I’m not mad with you because well it's rather simple I love you I always have and I always will. You needed to be on your own to realize the importance of your duties to the crown. It took me a while to realize that I was so angry at first with you. I got over the anger and realized that this is what you needed. That fight we had... I never should have said any of those things. They weren't true then I didn't understand the pressures of the crown. I do now and however I can be in your life I'll take it. However don’t ever run away again, I nearly had a heart attack when I heard you went missing.” He says the last part stern as ever.
“I wasn't missing, but I promise I will never run away again.”
“It took me one minute with the evidence to realize you ran away not that you were kidnaped like they believed,” he said with a roll of his eyes. She chuckles.
“Grumpy has a flare for the dramatic although he would never admit,” she comments about the head of her security.
“He certainly does,” Killian says.
“When I ended things with us I thought I had to be this perfect princess with no faults. With mother stepping down soon I thought I had to be impervious in order to be Queen. I was convinced that someone would use my love for you against me. I was so scared of that and at the time it felt like the best way to protect you. To end things and send you off on our own ship. Looking back that seems so foolish and idiotic. I should've known you'd be at my side no matter what. That something like that wouldn't matter.” She said with regret and sadness.
He places a hand on her cheek and she leans into his touch not realizing how much she had missed it. He leans in and kisses her softly. She pulls him in closer and the kiss becomes more passionate. They can't seem to get enough of each other. They're trying to make up for lost time. Time they should’ve had together. Eventually they stop just to catch their breath and suddenly remember they're not alone. The driver has a blank face, but clearly they can't go any further.
Emma doesn't want to be far from him. They spent too long apart. She settles with pressing her forehead against his. All this time she was trying to forget him, but it wasn’t working. She’d see something and it would remind her of him. Or she’d try on an outfit in Ruby’s boutique and think how much he would love it. She’d go somewhere and think about seeing it with him.
“I never stopped loving you for one minute,” she says intertwining her fingers with his. They sit back and he pulls her close.
“I know, love. My love never wavered for you either,” he says.
“How did you find me?” she asks.
“I knew you wouldn’t stay in Misthaven and your love of Paris is no secret, at least not to me. So, I had an idea what city you were in at least. The hard part was finding where in the city. I eventually narrowed it down places you could be living and then called and went door to door. I had no idea I would find you tonight. Your neighbor told me that you ladies went out and where you usually went. I was almost sure that you wouldn’t be at the bar. I assumed it was another dead end. I was so shocked when I saw you. I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me, but sure enough there you were,” he says with a slight smile.
“No wonder it took you so long,” she smirks.
“Well you didn’t make it easy,” he says.
“I know,” she admits.
“You know your parents have been worried sick about you,” he tells her. The guilt hits her hard.
“I know. I feel awful for doing that to them. I should’ve have told them something, so they wouldn’t worry. I just wanted to be normal for once in my life. To not have to be heir to the throne,” she sighs.
“They’ll understand. I’m sure. Once we knew you weren’t kidnapped their worry lessened, but they wanted you home,” Killian tries to reassure her. He kisses her forehead and she relaxes a little.
“And I’ll be by your side, not that you need me. You’re strong and will be a great leader,” He beams. She’s glad he came after her. She was a fool for letting him go, but she had known that for weeks now. Here she was trying to forget him with absolutely no luck. All she had done most days was think about him. You cannot forget the ones you truly love no matter how hard you try. Now he’s here and he still loves her. She won’t push him away again, not now, not ever.
The car takes them to a helipad and a helicopter takes them out of Paris and back to Misthaven. When they land on the helipad at the palace her parents are there waiting for her. Once out of the helicopter her mother runs to her and pulls Emma into her arms. Mary Margaret has tears streaming down her face and soon does Emma. David joins them moments later.
Killian watches them with a fond smile on his face. He’s known the family his whole life. His parents were friends with the royal family and when they died Mary Margaret and David took Liam and him under their wing. Emma and him didn’t start dating until two years ago. He remembers that day like it was yesterday. They didn’t have the smoothest of starts.
“Swan!” Killian shouts after her. Here she is running away from him once again, her blonde hair whipping in the wind. He was trying to explain how he feels about her and he said some idiotic thing, so here they are.
“Jones, go away! I don’t want to hear it,” she shouts back. Of course she ran out to the palace gardens. She liked to hide out here. He finally reaches her and grabs her arm. She looks back at him, but slips from his grasp and keeps moving away from him.
“Well that’s too bloody bad because you’re going to hear it. What I was trying to say inside is I don’t like that you went out with that dolt of Prince because I love you!” he shouts after her because she won’t stop and listen to him. This gives her pause and she marches right up to him.
“Excuse me?” she asks still mad as hell.
“You heard me,” he states firmly. She stands there slightly dumbstruck.
“You have some nerve, Killian Jones,” she says hands on her hips.
“You know I imagined this going quite differently,” he mutters, certain he had just ruined everything.
“So did I. I gave up any hope you had any feelings for me that’s why I went on the damn date you idiot,” she fumes. Her answer surprises him.
“You never said anything…” he trails off.
“Of course not, how could I? I can read everyone, but you and I couldn’t risk that I was wrong about you. You didn’t say anything either,” she says, both of them finally calming down. He can’t take it anymore and pulls her into his arms and kisses her. She fights it for a split second not realizing what is happening at first. Then she melts a little in his arms and kisses him right back.
“Now that wasn’t so hard was it?” He jokes when they break apart. She laughs and kisses him again.
Emma calling his name and it breaks him out of his reverie.
“Killian,” she says her parents on either side of her, “come on, we’re heading in.”
“We can never thank you enough for finding her,” David says as they walk inside.
“I would’ve come home soon. I wasn’t leaving forever,” Emma huffs.
“That doesn’t matter young lady. You’ve got some explaining to do. We were worried sick about you,” Mary Margaret scolds her.
“I know, I am sorry,” Emma says, looking ashamed. The group moves into Mary Margaret’s private study. Emma and her mother sit on the love-seat and David and Killian sit in the chairs opposite from the two women.
“Why? Emma I need to know why?” Mary Margaret says.
“I wanted to be normal! I wanted to go places without security, to have friends who didn’t have to pass a background check, and to just figure some shit out. I needed space,” she says in an outburst.
“Emma, hon a lot of those things are for your own protection,” David says.
“I know that. I understand why I have them I just didn’t want them for a while. I needed to figure myself out. I was starting to doubt if I would ever be a good queen. I needed space,” she says again. Mary Margaret grabs her hand. Now, that was a development. Before now Emma had never doubted her ability to be Queen, it makes Killian wonder what the hell happened.
“This is what you are born to do I have no doubt that you will be a good queen. You should’ve just told us we could’ve arranged a family vacation,” Mary Margaret says.
“Your Majesty, she’s saying that she needed to be alone. The problem wasn’t stress. Regina said something about me, didn’t she?” Killian asks Emma.
“I never said anything about Regina,” Emma says, stubborn as ever.
“She made the comment that people would use me against you. I know her and so do you. No one else would say that to you,” he says finally putting the pieces together. Regina was technically Mary Margaret’s step mother. She lived in the summer palace, away from the capital, but when she wanted to she would make an appearance and she knew how to press Emma’s buttons. Mary Margaret and David have noticed the shift in the conversation.
“Fine, she made the comment, but at the time it seemed like the truth. For whatever reason I thought she was right. That people would manipulate me through you, that it was better to be alone,” she says, shaking her head.
“I can’t believe she would say such a thing,” Mary Margaret says. Everyone gives her a questioning look.
“I can. Mary, it is not the first time she has meddled with Emma and won’t be the last if we let her. You know what, Emma don’t listen to her anymore. Frankly I don’t want to see her here unless she gets invited,” David says sternly. Killian couldn’t agree more.
“David, we can’t cut her out like that,” Mary says, shocked.
“We can and we will. She can stay at the summer palace I don’t care. She is not messing with my family anymore. She tried this us. She tried to convince me that I wasn’t good enough for you weeks before we got married,” David explains and the whole room goes silent.
“You never told me that,” Mary Margaret says, angry. This conversation has gotten rather awkward, Killian and Emma are just sitting there, looking at each other rather than the bickering couple.
“She’s you’re only living family. I couldn’t do that to you,” David explains.
“David, you’re my husband. You, Emma, and Jones’ boys are my family. She was never a mother to me,” Mary Margaret says annoyed with her husband.
“It’s settled then she won’t be seeing us anymore,” David says, looking at Emma, who nods in agreement. What Regina had said ate at her and she knew that it wasn’t right. She couldn’t bring herself to see what Regina was doing just like Mary Margaret. Even when she had figured it out she didn’t know what to say or who to tell.
“I don’t know about the rest of you, but I need some sleep,” Killian says and they all nod, “Emma, a word?” David looks like he’s about to say something when Mary Margaret all but drags him out of there.
“Kissing you is nice and I’ll gladly do whatever you want, but I need to know what you want,” Killian asks her.
“I want you and us back together. I don’t want to spend any time apart, so you better take me to bed before I fall asleep,” she commands. A smile crosses his face and he takes her hand in his.
“As you wish.” She doesn’t make it her bed though. Emma practically falls asleep on the stairs, and he has to carry her up. He lays her down in bed and crawls in with her the exhaustion crashing over him in a wave. She’s right they shouldn’t waste any time together. In fact tomorrow he’ll ask David and Mary Margaret for her hand in marriage. He doesn’t want another day without her and by the way she’s curled up on his chest he thinks she feels the same way.
***Disclaimer: I don’t hate Regina, this story just needed a villain.

Well, honestly since all this fandom wank is still going, I think it doesn’t hurt to show this back again, my favorite part
If you take nothing else from this article, please take this: all this outrage isn’t about protecting children, or about morality, or about critiquing media. It’s about people wanting their favorite characters to kiss.
This next part is my personal opinions but are all mostly based on this article, all I wish to add is how stupid this whole anti is because yes, it’s just about character’s kissing and their rules change to their convenience, so I’m just expanding to it with my own experience.
I’ll talk Fandom, why I think Antis have it wrong, some anti foolery and what to do, all of course in my opinion.
I’d like to start out with that “Fiction affects reality” and I can say, YES, but whose fiction? It’s the mass media produced fiction or the one I do from the comfort of my home?
Remember that all pieces of entretainment (books/movies/songs) as small as they may be, are all made by a group of people with the intention to reach to the biggest amount of people, it is their literal job, they know they are throwing ideas and notions to others in hopes to get feedback and be able to keep going, in other words it’s deliberate and so far we get tropes that affect and stereotype minorities. We must criticize those works because, again, a group of people allowed this to be produced with the intention to reach and capture the biggest auduence they can.
What about fandom? Fandom is exactly the opposite for me, we are not a team, we are just ourselves that get invested in one fandom and wish to explore more on the universe these creators gave us, and all for free! None of us are paid for it, yet with the anti movement, we are suddenly treated the way real paid content creators are made.
Fandom is a safe place because we can be whatever we want and explore whatever we wish because Fandom is self-contained, we broadcast to people with the same interests and hope to get feedback, create a healthy community were we just dicuss our fandom.
The anti movement uses the criticism we use on mass media and “moral ground” to justify their actions (harassment) but when you point at a fan, it is just that, you are pointing at a person, suddenly we must justify why we do what we do, what we write, what we think, give our life story, show credentials, all for what? Just to be “Valid”? Valid for who? A bunch of random people on the internet? We already have to struggle to be “Valid” in the real world and in this place were we can just be, we suddenly aren’t, we have to justify everyting we think, just to be allowed to not be harrased and have some freedom.
What is worse is that our prize if we pass this “Test” is just to not be harrased online, that’s it, I don’t know about you but in the Real World they supposedly live in, this is called Blackmail. We are threatened to be excluded, harrassed, recieve threats sometimes even death threats unless we stick to THEIR Values.
This is already bad enough and I haven’t even started with the antis themselves, becuase, who is the judge? Who is going to tell us if we are “Valid” enough to warrant not be harrased? What are THEIR Values?
This changes from anti to anti and oddly enough, it can be flexible to each one because again, every single one of us in fandom is just a team of one, there is no Anti Team, just a bunch of anti individuals that will bite each other because their foundation, like the article said, it’s not about morality but who can kiss and who isn’t allowed to.
What is the Anti handbook? Can anyone give it to me?
Let’s live in the Anti world *shivers*, I went into the fandom pretty young, I was 15, (I’m 25 now) and my first fanfiction was just pure crack, a character was turned into a cat and that’s it, the characters were comlpetely ooc but I was having fun.
What would it be like if 15 y/o me started fandom now?
Remember that now each of us are holded on the same standard grown, working paid adults are, so if I wanted to make a fanficiton I must begin wondering, do I have moraly sound topics? Is this my age appropiate? Are the character “Valid”? The actions I’ll put the characters in can pass the Moral Anti Compass Test? What is this Compass? As a 15 y/o how am I expected to know all this? We can’t be but we Will be harrassed.
If someone doesn’t like my ooc they can and WILL call me problematic, a 15 y/o that just wants some fun, they will invaldiate me, tell me I’m problematic, be asked to tell some stranger who I am and what are my credentials to do that content and no it doesn’t have to be nsfw, it can just be anything, they are currently creating a cloud of fear in all new and sometimes old users.
He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone
Let’s take a look at some Anti foolery since they are full of contradictions and will use Morality for their gain but ultimately they will fall under their own rules because they are not really for Morality but as an excuse to justify their harrasment.
The Minor Excuse.
Oddly enough, many anti’s I’ve seen are minor and they use it to a fault, “I’m a minor, you can’t do nsfw for those characters I like or that pairing I dislike”, Our response and most nsfw artist response is, “Well just block me, don’t come into my space, I’ll tag it 18+ so you’ll know not to come here”
That is a good enough response but for antis it’s not enough because it was never really about their integrity, the real point always was so that the content creator stops creating that content of that pairing they don’t like so the new argument is:
“The characters are MINORS, so you as a DIRTY adult mustn’t do any content about them”
This is good enough becuase now they are called pedophilic and with that argument now the antis carrying torches and pitchforks have a, very bad, place were they can comfortly harrass nsfw content creators (or just creators)
One thing about minors and our example minor anti used is that, as minors, nsfw content must be away from them, that is the point right? Protect them from topics they are not mature enough and it’s totally ok, but do they follow? I began watching nsfw at 15, do Minor antis really keep away? Do they keep their mental celibacy until 18? Oddly enough, if the pairing that they favor is underage as them and is written by someone underage then it is ok for them to see them in more 18+ setting, like not full blown really kinky situations but do be able to include sexual encounters in their content, odd right? I thought they were all in on the minor train so that should wipe all nsfw and in fact the anti in our example had previously stated their absolute distaste in nsfw content, funnily enough just not content on the pairing they didn’t like, content THEY like is good enough.
What these antis don’t want to realize is that Minor it’s a very very temporal state of being, they tops have like 5 to 3 years until THEY are no longer a minor so by THEIR standars they have to leave all shipping involving minors when THEY reach 18, I have yet to see an anti say good bye to a pairing because they are now 18 and wouldn’t be moraly sound to carry one shipping them.
BTW friendly reminder that all underage pairing shown in media are made by a team of adults but I have yet to see a boicott were minor fans argue mass media shouldn’t include romance of any kind involving minors because adults are writting underage relationships, kinda odd right?
The incest/age gap
I won’t go too much into this because I’m just looking for anti foolery, the paring Sheith is considered incest because the character of Shiro mentored Keith and met him at a younger age, this ship and all ships involving Shiro a 25 y/o with his minors peers (shaladins) are a big gigantic no no in the dumpster that is voltron fandom, sheith in particual had Keith say to Shiro, “I love you, you are my brother” in one of the episodes.
However those same anti that satanized Sheith are now happily shipping Catradora, and in this show it’s literally said and shows many many times, by the character themselves how they were raised, basically since birth together as sisters, how it doesn’t fit Incest? Well, because the anti liked that one so I guess the anti manual kinda went into the wind right? Nope, they still hold Sheith as a pedophilic, grooming, incest pairing, but Catradora is ok, should I add that Catra is always trying to kill Adora? Some Villian/Hero pairing? No? Is OK? I thought antis would lift the pitchforks but apparently no...Reylo is bad tho, becuase omg VILLAINS!!!!
Someone really needs to give me the anti handbook because Anti’s themselves don’t follow their own rules, it’s almost as if...
They use Morality to justify their harassment to things they don’t personally like
Hmmm, something to think about right?
Antis that have a little brain do point out how in Real Life pairing would be sketchy and some, yes they are right, they are just bad and sometimes we should consider the real life implications, sometimes we do keep using in fandom harmful tropes but many times we don’t realize because we all arrive here with the mass media influence on us.
It’s not about harrassing, I feel it should be about teaching and letting each other be free because in the end, fandom is separate from life and it’s a SAFE SPACE, I rather have young people explore and understand what they like and don’t in fandom rather than feel excluded and ashamed both in and out of the internet and with no way of letting their feeling out they might just give it a go in real life, we must educate to separate fiction from reality but at the very end, let them be free.
What if one day a minor gets a crush on a 25 y/o in real life? I rather that person acknowlege their crush, know it’s fine and don’t feel ashamed of liking that person but to please not be in a relationship and know exactly why, specially if said person approaches them.
I rather they write and create art imagining what it would be like in a perfect setting, let their feelings out in a shape of unreal characters and situations instead of bottling it up and feeling ashamed.
BTS is one of the biggets boy bands and many fans are minors, I rather they explore and dream what would it be like to be romantic with one of the band members (26-22 I think?) in their own innocent romantic way via fanfics and art, it’s okay to dream of that story were they pick you out of the mass and dance with you on stage than pursuing a real relationship with an older person.
Fandom is SAFE because it’s UNREAL, we can explore things we would never do in real life, we can have some leasure but know how it affects real life, we still have to be careful, we must know that Fandom in the end is just a bunch of people putting out their feelings, they must know to distrust a little because all of Fandom is just our own individual uncurated minds, I read once someone said they got pregnant (or their gf pregnant, can’t remember) because they didn’t know about sex ed and only educated themselves via nsfw fics
I mean again, we are not professionals, we are just people, we are imperfect and many times in fandom we are just chaotic, incoherent and just crack minds, we can and will be completely absurd with reality or try to stick as close to Real Life, it’s up to us to know both exist in the same place.
Each one of us has to understand that and allow others to have their place to be free, Fandom has existed for many years before Antis and oddly enough has become worse because of them, despite their puritian stance they only achieve the same as real conservative people, make us feel ashamed of ourselves, to shut out voices for THEIR gain, it’s never about us, it’s always about THEM
