Bat Cave Creek, this image was taken in Nightcap National Park in rich Gondwana rainforest, the stream pictured is flanked by Helmholtzia glaberrima (Native Stream Lily) the water is of the purest, fed from high Sub Tropical Rainforest springs and catchment.
This location is that of the 1970 Terania Creek Blockade in which the area was successfully saved by environmentalists from clear cut logging of its stands of hardwood specifically its Eucalyptus pilularis (Blackbutt) thus protecting this section and its flora and fauna until it was declared a National Park in 1983.

Spinophorosaurus Middle Jurassic, 167 Ma, Africa
The discovery and study of this sauropod illustrate the scientific process; this dinosaur was first thought to have spikes on its tail, and the low posture often seen in traditional depictions of sauropods. After innovative research in 2020 involving 3D models of the skeleton, the new Spinophorosaurus reconstruction may have implications for understanding the life posture of other dinosaurs as well.

Oldest sea-going reptile from the Southern Hemisphere!
Tumblr media
New paper by Benjamin Kear et al. (with artwork by yours truly, first time for a scientific find🤩) that documents a nothosaur that swam along the shores of an ancient polar super-ocean covering what is now the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand 246 million years ago. This discovery reveals the early global radiation of marine reptiles, which as the authors show probably dispersed across both the southern and northern high-latitudes to dominate the world’s oceans at the dawn of the Age of Dinosaurs. The paper is open access and can be read in the scientific journal Current Biology.

Maharani Durgavati
Durgavati was the daughter of King of Bundelkhand, married to Raja dalpad of Gondwana, in Madhaya Pradesh.
Soon, tragically Raja died and Queen Durgavati with her 5 year old toddler stepped up to the throne. She managed the whole kingdom exceptionally well, as recorded by Akbar’s historian. The kingdom did not suffer any major setback even after their king died.
Tumblr media
Gondwana was a rich kingdom, with a beautiful queen which became the target of the Mughals. They didn't wanted to simply take the kingdom under their control, the commander Asaf Khan also “wanted to touch the beauty of Gondwana”.
Tumblr media
In 1564, Asaf Khan marched with 10,000 cavalries towards Gondwana, Rani Durgavati marched with 5,000 men to the battlefield.
She led the army well and killed about 500 enemies, she came out victorious by the end of the day, later she purposed to “surprise attack” the enemies or “Gorilla Attack” but none of the council members agreed to that.
By the next morning, Asaf Khan’s army was in a much better place and the fighting continued for 3 exhausting days. By that time only 200 of her men were left but the thought of giving up never once crossed her mind. Her bravery and courage never wavered.
During the battle, one arrow pierced her temple and another pierced her neck, causing her to lose consciousness. When she opened her eyes, the inevitable defeat was clear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of falling in the hands of men that had nothing but lust for her and would eventually throw her in Harem with other women, that previously were queens of conquered kingdoms that Mughals kept as sex slaves, she took our her dagger and killed herself to save her honor and prevent invaders from doing heinous things to her body, her martyrdom day (24 June 1564) is commemorated as “Balidan Diwas”.
The Mughal army then marched to the fort to loot it's treasure. They found staggering amount of gold pots full of gold, jewels, expensive stones etc.
When they opened a room, it was full of burnt bodies of women that commited Jauhar upon hearing the news of Rani’s defeat. These women committed Jauhar to save their honor and to prevent the Mughals from taking them as sex slaves, unfortunately 2 women were still alive, stuck behind a large wooden block that saved their lives. These two women were then taken to Akbar's court and predictably put into Harem.

Gondwana was the great southern landmass that formed as a result of the division of a much larger supercontinent known as Pangea about 250 million years ago. This Gondwanan supercontinent consisted of present day landmasses: Africa, South America, India, Madagascar, Australia and New Zealand. The other section of Pangea, known as Laurasia, comprised what are now Europe, Asia and North America.

Svaneborg Kardyb — Superkilen (Gondwana)
Tumblr media
Danish drums-and-keys duo Svaneborg Kardyb build songs like The Necks in time-lapse. Their miniature dioramas of tone are built using tesselating patterns of repetition on a handful of instruments. Before you know it, the music has evolved in subtle ways, arriving somewhere unexpected. Take the opening title track, for example. Nikolaj Svaneborg’s Wurlitzer plays against the dappled tones of a synthesizer arpeggio, while Jonas Kardyb’s hard-punching drums drive and punctuate proceedings. Round and round the song goes, patiently and hypnotically, Kardyb gradually filling the stereo space with more cymbal strikes and drum fills, until the whole track bursts forth into an ecstatic chord change. It’s masterful stuff.
As well as the title summing up the power of the duo’s modus operandi, “Cycles” is another mighty standout. This time they’re joined by Portico Quartet member Milo Fitzpatrick on double bass and Maria Martine Jagd on violin. As the Wurlitzer and drums lock into mesmerizing interplay, bass gently fills out the low end, then scribbly violin playing agitates the song towards a gently elated climax. Later in the tracklist, “Tide” matches the title track and “Cycles” for inventiveness and lightness of touch, the Wurlitzer blooming forth in ripples of echo as Kardyb lays down an amazing shuffling rhythm in 7/8. Closer “Arendal” is also excellent, moving the duo into slower, darker territories reminiscent of the mighty Bohren & Der Club of Gore.
It’s quite telling that these four standouts on Superkilen are also the longest tracks. Svaneborg Kardyb clearly benefit from wringing all the goodness they can out of their limited but potent ingredients. For this reason, the middle section of the album lags a bit, dominated as it is by shorter, less developed pieces that establish a pleasant vibe but don’t evolve in such satisfying ways. The piano melodies on “St Pancras” and “Udsigten” sound like they could be an inoffensive backdrop to a refined cafe scene; “Balancen” acts more as an interlude than a song in its own right; and though “Vakler” builds a formidable head of steam thanks to some thunderous drum-playing from Kardyb at its climax, that’s about all the song offers.
Despite these reservations, Superkilen is an essential listen for the stellar heights it reaches during its most transcendent moments.

Okay so I was scouring jojowiki.com as usual and it says there that Diego's dinosaur form is based on an outdated record of a Utahraptor, and I don't know anything about them but I have a slight suspicion they were found in Utah.
I dunno just thought it was funny how to the point the name is. "it's a raptor in Utah, let's call it Utahraptor"
You blame Jim Kirkland over on his twitter for naming them that.
But yeah, "[Place name]saurus [place name]ensis" is a meme in the paleocommunity for a reason. (The word "ensis" meaning "from [place name]".) Image souce: Adam-Loves-Dinosaurs.
Tumblr media
I think Utahraptor is probably the most famous one. When another large dromeosaur was found in Dakota, DePalma felt it natural to smash the usual dromeosaur suffix of "raptor" with the prefix of [Place name] to name Dakotaraptor.
A dinosaur not many realise was intended to be named after a place is Mamenchisaurus. (Source: Cervente on Tumblr)

It was discovered in (yes I'm using Wikipedia's text) Mǎmíngxī (马鸣溪 'horse-neighing brook') by Yang Zhongjian (楊鍾健), grandfather of Chinese Palaeontology. However, Yang wasn't from the area and mistook the intonation for the locale name. So he ended up calling it (馬門溪龍屬), from Mǎménxī (马门溪 'horse-gate brook').
That's probably the most fun one I can think of, but the others are like...
Koreacertops. Aegyptosaurus. Argentinosaurus. Patagotitan (Patagonia). Chilesaurus (Chile, but apparently it sounds like "dick" in latin countries?) Edmontosaurus (Canadian province, Edmonton). Albertosaurus (Candadian province Alberta, named after Princess Louise Carolina Alberta... named after Prince Albert). Gondwanasuchus (A crocodile actually, that was found in São Paulo, you know where, which USED to be part of the supercontinent Gondwana). Adamantisaurus is named from the same formation the croc was found, Adamantina.
Probably the most common kind of argument on the internet regarding dinosaurs at the moment is names and... IMO, it's not worth it unless it's REALLY bad or a bit mishandled, like Kuru kulla or Mamenchisaurus. But then, that's what the ICZN (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature) is usually for.
Anyway, Thanos is the worst dinosaur name in current use. Grapes, I need your Brazilian Portuguese expertise to write a strongly worded letter to Rafael Delcourt and Fabiano Vidoi Iori on good naming conventions. Obrigado Uva!

okay so I cannot reblog this for some reason but
back when I was an already horny but pretty much "innocent" and very uneducated pre-teen, I kind of felt that just very strong hugs and kisses weren't for some reason good enough (I was kind of a shy weirdo and never got any of either, so it was all fantasies), so my still growing up brain came up with the following as "spicier than hugs" - both people slice themselves open at the front (throat to crotch) and squeeze together and entangle their intestines. I even fantasised about that.

Gondwana is a supercontinent which is now modern Africa, Antarctica, Australia, and India . Gondwana formed from 600 million to 540 million years ago. Geological evidence from South Australia and Antarctica correlate the continent formation to around the Sinsk event.
The Sinsk event around 514 million and 512 was a major extinction event. Despite the death of multiple older species newer species like Trilobites evolved.

The Cambrian explosion created an abundance of life in the Ocean and on land. The Cambrian explosion happened in two parts separated by the Phanerozoic extinction.

Creationism is so ridiculous because the official explanation from Answers in Genesis for how marsupials reached Australia is that they were launched over here on volcanic debris from Mount Ararat.
This is obviously much more reasonable than the actual evolutionist explanation that they evolved in South America and migrated to Australia via Antarctica when all three were joined as Gondwana.
As an Australian with an evolutionary biology degree and a particular interest in marsupial evolution it's fucking hilarious.
