A young spinosaurus is priming to dig in on its midday meal when it hears movement and looks up to see a much more mature, much more territorial member of its species has arrived to fish the same swamp. The fog rolling in makes the old fisher’s figure even more imposing as the young spinosaurus shrinks back in surprise.

Pampaphoneus swimming.

Pampaphoneus biccai is a brazillian anteosaur that lived in the middle Permian, about 268 - 265 million years ago. Hailing from the Rio do Rasto Formation, it would have lived in what is called a interdunal wetland - that is, a environment of temporary lakes and bodies of water surrounded by dunes.
