Mortal Kombat 1 Behind the Scenes AU: There are no hopeless students, only bad teachers.
Author’s note: Look, I won't lie, I low-key hate Tomas' MK1 ending for the way he and Kuai Liang see Hanzo, as this gifted student enrolled in Shirai Ryu for their "noble cause" while showing little concerns for the boy itself. I have a lot to say about that and maybe will explain once I will sit down to write my (for now) final part of "Bi-Han & Kuai Liang. Good brother? Evil brother? Nah, just different reactions to trauma" but my negative reaction comes down to this: Tomas who struggled so much to became Lin Kuei (fighter) should not look down on young students for not being "good enough" to be new members of Shirai Ruy. Kuai Liang should not either, but his intro dialogues made me think he would not be the best teacher - which frankly is more about Lin Kuei arrogance than him being a bad person, just to be clear here. So I decided to A) give more focus on Tomas and his relationship with adoptive dad and B) let him be the voice of reason to the "badass" warriors like Scorpion and Harumi. So yeah, the problem is not in student (this poor kid trying hard) but in teachers with too big expectations and too little patience.

today i succeeded at a quest called Enable Your Girlfriend To Eat Dinner Before 3AM and i feel reasonably good about it
#the quest had various perils#mainly 'they forgot the tupperware of leftovers in our kitchen and i had to bring it them at work'#which i scaled handily. and even managed to find a time window for them to pick it up when they were not in a BL3 sterile suit#and therefore unable to receive texts! total success#box opener#now we work two buildings apart and i had to go in to the lab anyway. so this was not one of the great trials of the age#but i still feel useful and filled with triumph#theres something very satisfying‚ when you are a person who constantly makes minor stupid disorganization errors‚#about being able to completely rescue someone else from any consequences of a minor disorganization-based error.#you can just unhappen it! it never occurred! no mild problems to be had!!#also 🌸 is deliriously beautiful and perfect and i got to SEE THEM at an UNEXPECTED TIME#which was thrilling for me. as it always is.

actually On Your Feet gave us two good things (well. three if you like Realize which I do). Kohane's "it's frustrating" line and the great crack fic idea of Vivid Bad Squad getting cancelled online for skipping school to yell at The Kotaki Taiga as he was about to go back to America.

i feel like i’ve been WAITING for the other shoe to drop wrt people’s opinions about watcher for this very reason. not that i think the reaction is completely not understandable but the greater the parasocial relationship, the greater the fallout as soon as public opinion shifts. you don’t have a relationship with these people they’re just content creators, chill

AND ANOTHER THING i do think it’s very clear who the dance 2.0 is going to involve when adwd opens with jon, dany, and tyrion. like lol, lmao, that’s not subtle. but that doesn’t mean tyrion is ALSO a secret targaryen. instead ✨my opinion✨is that this is implying that tyrion will be the real power behind One Of The Dragons Involved…and tyrion introduces us to this whole entire insane new plot line that seems to come from nowhere about a third dragon being alive.
and then we got f&b which is just like, a lot of different people jockeying to be the power behind whatever dragon is sitting that throne and how important that close advisor is to keeping any sort of control on power, which is again, not subtle aksjd. SO YEAH, i mean whether tyrion DOES everything he’ll get accused of is probably going to be of heavy debate, but that man isn’t name dropping viserys ii every other convo just to be a targaryen all along. he’s going to be corlys, he’s going to be otto, he’s going to be septon barth, he’s going to be his father writ small - the person actually pulling the strings behind a dragon, not a dragon himself. i think his part in the dance is going to be very similar to all of theirs, which is to say, the moment he rips his own power away from whatever dragon he picks, is the moment that dragon is slated for death. it’s the moment they are SCREWED.
