Girl of Your Dreams || Pt.3
New account! @ghostbones was banned! Transferring all my work here slowly!
Summary: Daryl coaxes you up to the watchtower with him. He's much nicer this time :)))
18+ MDNI || WARNINGS: profanity, unprotected p-in-v, general smut, TWD typical zombie killing
It took you literal hours to recover from the blatant torture he had inflicted upon you in that little loft. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment, you thought to yourself.
You were both back home at the prison now, having not spoken a single word to each other since he left you sitting there on that bed, high and dry (or... wet?)
You decided you couldn't sit on your cot and stew about it anymore, you had to get up and do something. Problem was, it was late, and most people would be asleep by now, so you couldn't exactly do much work inside. You guessed that left you to find something to do outside. Had the gardens been weeded? How were the pigs doing? Maybe the fences were piling up with walkers. That sounded good, you'd go stab walkers through the fence.
You sat up, tying your freshly washed hair up behind you, and slipped your boots shoes on. You snuck outside, shutting the door behind you as gently as you could, before making your way over to the inner gate and tugging it open. You glanced up at the guard tower and held up your spear to show whoever it was that you were just working the fences. You guessed probably Glenn and Maggie, as that was usually where they slept when they wanted some privacy.
You stabbed and prodded the clumsy corpses through the holes in the fence for maybe a half hour before he silently snuck up on you, leaning against the inner fence behind you, simply observing. He saw the way your legs flexed every time you shoved the sharpened wooden pole through a decaying skull, the way your loose ponytail slapped side to side, and most of all the aggression you used, no doubt trying to work off some frustration.
You were short of breath after so much work. You wiped the sweat from your forehead with your arm and set the spear against the fence. You went to turn around and take a break, but you jumped as you did so upon noticing Daryl standing there watching you.
"Shit, man! What the hell?" You gasped, placing your hand over your startled heart.
"Was on watch. Seen ya out here." He shrugged. "Y'okay? Seem a little frustrated." He smirked. You shot him a cold glare.
"Nuh-uh." You shook your head. "No. You take that evil mouth of yours and go somewhere else."
"What's the matter? Talk to me." He was so nonchalant it made you want to hit him.
"Oh, nothing." You waved him off. "In fact, I have never been better."
A bluff, and a poor one at that. All this time you thought you had him, you had reveled in the fact that you could get a rise out of him, only to realize it was him who had you around his finger the whole time. He was a lion in the grass, just waiting for his moment to pounce. Well, you decided you wouldn't fall to his wicked games. He would not make a fool of you again.
"That's good." He nodded. "Wanna come help me keep watch?"
"Absolutely not." You crossed your arms.
"Not even for..." He trailed off, digging in his pocket and holding up a little napkin. He unraveled it to expose your favorite snack, one that only he knew how to make.
"Deer jerky?" You whined.
"Uhuh. Freshly smoked." He said, taking a bite out of one of the strips and chewing slowly, staring you dead in the eyes.
"Why?" You scoffed. "You gonna tie to to a string and dangle it above my head? Pull it away every time I reach for it? Seems pretty fitting."
Your tone was harsh and accusatory. It amused him, but he didn't let it show outwardly. He just kept his defense up, remaining as calm and calculated as ever.
"Nah. Just thought I'd share. Got more up in the tower." He nodded his head to the guard tower.
You chewed at your lip. You could smell the smoky meat from where you stood. It was tempting, too tempting, but something told you there was nothing but misery awaiting you in that tower. Sweat, delicious, pleasure filled misery. You faltered a little, clearly not convinced you didn't want to join him.
He pressed on. "Found some candy, too. Out on our run today. Got it all stashed right up there."
"What kind of candy?"
He smirked again. It was too easy. He might as well have driven a white van with 'free candy' painted in big black letters on the side.
"Dunno. Some chocolate, jawbreakers..."He trailed off, pretending to try to recall the diversity of his sugary loot. He hadn't forgotten, though. In fact, it was all part of his elaborate scheme. He knew exactly what he had up there, one of them happening to be your favorite. "Oh. And those little rainbow strips with the sour sugar coated all over 'em."
"The sour rainbows?" You uttered in disbelief. Damn it, he was good. You eyes narrowed. "How do I know you really have them up there?"
"Have I ever lied to ya?"
You considered his question. He had a point, and he also potentially had a feast of deer jerky and your favorite candy.
Still, you couldn't make it easy for him. At least, not that easy.
"Well, you still owe me an apology." You demanded. He scoffed, a laugh escaping his lips. Your chest felt gooey inside. He didn't laugh much. The most you got was a chuckle, a little huff of air.
"For what?" He raised an eyebrow.
"For.." You weren't actually sure. You just said whatever came to mind in the moment. "For being mean."
"C'mon, now. Y'ain't that soft. Let's go. No tricks." He urged, walking backward toward the tower but still facing you.
"No. Say you're sorry." You doubled down. You couldn't give in. He changed his direction, taking slow steps toward you now, until he was nearly touching you. Your throat got tight as your eyes looked up at his. He leaned down slowly his face growing near. Your eyes fluttered shut, leaning into what you expected to be a kiss. He stopped, though, when his lips just barely grazed over yours.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. He stood back up straight and turned on his heal, strolling casually back to the tower. Bamboozled again.
He didn't have to turn and look, he knew you'd follow him.
You sucked in a sharp breath and shoved the air out, groaning under your breath as you marched behind him. Up in the tower, he handed you another napkin full of jerky and a pack of sour rainbow strips, just as promised. You snatched them away and began to tear into the candy.
"You're a lot of things, Dixon. But I guess you can't be called a liar." You sighed. He didn't say anything, just roamed around the perimeter of the balcony, pretending to watch for any threats. You continued, mostly just mumbling to yourself. "A tease, maybe. A cruel, heartless tease capable of great bodily torture.. but not a liar."
His keen ear picked up every word. He chuckled silently to himself, shaking his head. It didn't take long for you to eat every last bit of the treats he had saved for you. When the instant gratification of your snack had washed away, you were left to wonder; "So, was that all you brought me up here for?"
He leaned on the metal railing and looked you over, head to toe. Still wearing a baggy shirt you stole out of his bag forever ago and biker shorts. Your usual sleep attire.
"Y'ever gon' give that shirt back?" He asked.
"Nope." You boasted, popping the 'P' sound.
"Mm." He nodded. "Like wearin' my shit?"
"Yup." You nodded, repeating the same popped 'p'.
"Got somethin' else for ya to wear." He revealed. He nodded over to a small plastic bag that you hadn't previously noticed. You eyed him curiously, stepping over to the bag and lifting it up. You peaked inside to see a sort of lacey silky fabric all bunched up at the bottom. You looked back at him, eyebrows raised. "Go on." He urged.
You sighed and pulled the soft fabric out of the bag and held it up with both hands to get a good look. It was nothing crazy or overly lewd, just a simple short nightgown with lacey accents framing the cleavage.
"I'm supposed to wear this to bed in a prison full of kids?" You scoffed.
"Nah. Jus' up here. With me." He said, just over a whisper. There it was, that familiar lump in your throat, heat in your cheeks, pounding in your chest.
"N-now?" You asked. Your voice was already failing you, cracking a little.
He loved it, though. You were a violent, volatile little firecracker. You had bigger balls than most of the men around there. But when it came to anything suggestive, suddenly you were a whimpering fool, barely capable of a full sentence.
"Mhm." He nodded, treading toward you nd taking it from your hands so you could strip down and change into it. Your hands were uneasy as you slowly pulled your shirt off. You were braless, but somehow he didn't even look. You were nervous enough. He wanted you to be comfortable. He could save the lust for later.
Next was your shorts that slid off with ease. You were wearing underwear, mostly because going without in tight spandex shorts was sure to be a mess.
You went to grab the nightgown but he instead moved behind you and gently slid it over your head. You worked your arms through the corresponding straps, and he slid the rest of the dress down over your frame. He stepped around you, stopping in front of you, taking in the sight that was you in a sexy, silky dress. It wasn't that tight, but it still formed to your curves nicely.
You just stood there, arms at your sides, second guessing everything about yourself. Even down to the very way you stood.
"Alright," he nodded. He moved his hands up to the buttons of his shirt and undid them, one by one, slowly until his torso was exposed as he shook the shirt off of his arms.
Your breath was caught in your throat with admiration. He was so.. defined.
He stepped close to you and ran his hands over your shoulders, down your back, and then up again until he reached your ponytail. He carefully slid the band out, letting your hair cascade around your face, framing it perfectly. He gently moved little strands and tufts around, until he thought you looked absolutely perfect.
His hands found your neck and he leaned down, planting an actual kiss on your lips, then your jaw, then your neck. Your knees felt weak but you were determined to be strong.
His lips trailed along your collar bone and over your upper cleavage, hands rested on the sides of your head to hold you steady.
"C'mon." He told you, grabbing your hand and leading you over to a nest of blankets. He held your hand as you sat down, gently urging you to lay back, and you did, never taking your eyes off of him. He crawled over you and kissed you again, this time with rhythm and urgency. You couldn't help but to snake your arms and legs around him, fearful he might pull away again and leave you in need.
He didn't, though. He kissed you gently but desperately, sliding his hands over every curve of your body. It was like your first time again, so nervous and excited for whatever new sensations awaited you. You could feel him getting hard as his body pressed into yours. You let out a little whimper when the pressure grew. That one little noise woke him up. It was like he wasn't even in control, just his hands and his body working with yours.
He slid your dress up just above your waist and traced his fingers over your panties, feeling accomplished already. You were soaked. After that stunt he pulled earlier, you were begging to be touched. You longed for any kind of human contact. Hands rubbing your back, fingers through your hair. It had been so long. It had been a long time even before the turn. You hated every man that entered your space, and that girl who got all starry eyed at the slightest show of interest from a boy was long gone.
But, here, now, all you wanted was his touch. He slid his fingers just under the hem of your underwear, dragging them sideways, giving you a chance to deny him if you didn't want it. An unnecessary gesture. You couldn't have denied him if you wanted to at this point. Your body was in control, not your brain.
Without your protest he gripped the fabric of your panties and slid them down, sitting up quickly to pull them off. As soon as they were out of his way he was back on top of you, lips smushed against yours, sloppy and passionate. He traced his fingers over your slit, rubbing softly up and down. A sharp breath escaped you. He slipped a finger inside you, then two, curling them and massaging slowly. Small, breathy moans lulled out of you, music to his ears. He wanted to make sure you were ready for him.
You gripped at his arms and back, meagre attempts to pull him closer, deeper. When you seemed eager enough, he reached down and unbuckled his belt, then in jeans. He unzipped them and pulled himself out, stroking himself. He was rock hard. It was almost painful for him. He was throbbing for you just as much as you were for him, maybe even more.
He wanted you from the moment he laid eyes on you, showing him your bare torso to prove you weren't bitten. He had it bad for you always, but it wasn't until today he acted on it. He didn't know why. Not why he never pursued you sooner, nor why today was the day. He was in a particularly bad mood earlier, thinking about his brother who he had lost not once, but twice. He was frustrated with his lack of luck in finding the Governor, and overall everything you said just pissed him off. There was no flutter in his stomach when you teased him, no urge to flirt back. He was angry, and he wanted to take it out on you. But, when you were looking up at him with his hand around your jaw, eyes full of shock and wonder, he realized how bad he really did want you. That didn't make him any less angry, though, so instead of enjoying you, he tortured you.
He wasn't mad anymore, though. He was tired of waiting, tired of denying himself.
He pressed his tip against you and you gasped a little, anticipation rising with every second. You looked up at his eyes to find them trained intently on your own. He didn't look mischievous like he did earlier in the loft, it was a soft, lustful look. Still there was uncertainty there, like he was waiting for you to stop him at any moment.
Slowly he pushed, sliding the very tip in. Another gasp. He pushed a little further and you let out the tiniest moan. When he was finally sure it was okay with you, he slid the entirety of his length inside you. A loud, guttural moan pushed out of you. He sighed with pleasure as your gripped and throbbed around him. You were so wet and warm he began to fear he'd finish too soon. He eased back down over you, breathing softly in your ear as he slid out slowly, and then back in, acclimating himself to the sensation. Every time he pushed in you moaned.
Soon he was picking up the pace, and your hands roamed his shoulders and arms as you panted and whimpered. His hand slid down between the two of you and a single finger circled over your clit rhythmically. Your hands froze in place on his arms, fingers curling, digging your nails into his flesh.
You were already buzzing, just centimeters away from the edge, ready to dive off. You felt a mild sense of panic. This was the exact point he pulled away earlier, over and over and over. You were expecting it again, but he kept going, and sure enough you fell over that edge into blissful oblivion. You body shuddered and tensed up as you rode the wave, moaning louder as he pounded into you.
You began to twitch with over stimulation, jerking your hips a little. He took the hint and pulled his hand away, determined to satisfy himself now that you were taken care of.
You just held onto him, breathing heavy as he knocked little sounds out of you, enjoying the relaxed feeling as your orgasm washed away. It didn't take long after that, with the convulsing muscles inside you gripping him. He sped up the pace for only a moment before he pulled out, hot cum shooting on your leg.
You laid there motionless, catching your breath. He quickly used part of the blanket nest beneath you to wipe you down before he crashed beside you. He looked over at you and you returned the stare, before a laugh escaped you both. You covered your face with your hands.
Now you knew. You knew he could be just as cruel as you were, or he could give you exactly what you wanted. It was all up to you and how you decided to treat him.

Spoilers if you haven't seen the episode
Starting things off the episode title is My Adventures with Supergirl. An obvious nod to the show title, but also good way to acknowledge the journey we had with Kara whether its seeing her past, what she did under Brainiac's control, and what our trio will do to help Kara be free from Brainiac.
Makes sense that Henshaw is part of the Human Defense Corp (or Squadron in this case) and it looks like the fool dies so maybe Cyborg Superman in the future who know, but I talked about the Human Defense Corp here and Hank Henshaw here.
As Superman and Kara lie on the street thanks to the Metallos and Brainiac's control over them, we see them get saved by the Intergang and Livewire and Heatwave! I talked more about Intergang here and Livewire and Heatwave here and here respectively.
Later in the scene Roughhouse makes a subtle reference to Lobo, but "the Main Man" in this case is referring to General Sam Lane. But if Lobo shows up in a future season, I'll talk more about him, and god I want to see him show up so bad!
Over where Lois, Jimmy, and Steve are, the Metallos chase after them and are saved by Dr. John Henry Irons a.k.a. Steel! I talked more about him here. I'd love to see him wear the helmet like his comic counterpart and the red cape in a future episode.
Later in the episode Superman, Kara, Intergang, Livewire, Heatwave, and Steel attack Brainiac's station and were able to break though his defenses and as they enter Brainiac's chamber, Brainiac activates Kara's brainwashing saying "Eradicator Override"
If you know your Superman comics, the Eradicator was first mentioned in Action Comics Annual #2 (1989) [W: Roger Stern, Jerry Ordway, George Perez, P: Mike Mignola, I: George Perez, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: Bill Oakley] where it was a weapon that was used to kill the Cleric on Krypton who was spreading his message about peace and the unethical uses of cloning on Krypton.
The weapon would later be found by Superman and it caused more problems for him until he threw it away in Antarctica where it created the Fortress of Solitude.
Later during the death of Superman, the Eradicator would emerge as an energy being who takes on the visage of Superman, take Clark's body back to the Fortress so he can heal, and would be one of the four Supermen who took over for Superman at that time. This version of the Eradicator first appeared in Action Comics #687 (1993) [W: Roger Stern, P: Jackson Guice, I: Denis Rodier, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: Bill Oakley]
When we see Kara fight Superman under the control of Brainiac later, she has red eyes just like the Eradicator in the comics as shown here in the panel from Superman #82 (1993) [W&P: Dan Jurgens, I: Brett Breeding, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: John Costanza].
Later in the episode, Clark, Lois, and Jimmy try to calm Kara and help her fight against Brainiac's influence and they succeed (also had me tear up in that moment too) and shout out Kara's Canary Cry! Black Canary would be proud AF!
After pushing back on Brainiac's station Clark and Kara battle Brainiac in space and Brainiac monologues about Krypton's destruction and his excuse of existing. He activates the weapon that destroyed Krypton, the Black Zero Protocol.
The first and only known version of Black Zero that destroyed Krypton was in Superman #205 (1968) [W: Otto Binder, P&I: Al Plastino] where the saboteur was hired to destroy Krypton by accelerating the internal planetary stresses that caused the planet to explode. He was planning on doing the same to the Earth before Superman stopped him. Other iterations and uses of the Black Zero name include, a Kryptonian Terrorist Group that created a computer virus of the same name that infected the Fortress of Solitude, a clone of Conner Kent, and a Kryptonian military group.
After Kara took the hit and plunged into the sun, she and Clark are saved thanks to their Kryptonian physiology because they get their powers from the Sun. You notice their Kryptonite scarring/veins glow a gold color bringing to mind...
Superman Prime One Million from DC Million #4 (1998) [P: Val Semekis, I: Prentis Rollins, C: Pat Garrahy & Heroic Age] who is OG Superman after outliving all his family and friends traveled throughout the DC universe and absorbing the Sun's radiant energy for like hundreds of years where his powers are now near infinite levels giving him this gold look. This version of Superman according to Grant Morrison is the same as the one in All-Star Superman.
In a Kryptonian religious sense, you could argue that Rao, the sun god of the Kryptonians, saved his last two people from death and giving them power to fight against Brainiac.
The MAwS crew really love their DBZ cuz the sun aura Clark and Kara give off is the same vibe as what Super Saiyans have when they power up.
We then see Kara and Clark glow a red and blue aura respectively which, I might be reading into it a lot, could be symbolic of Nightwing and Flamebird, the Kryptonian gods/heroes/dragons and the identities that Clark and Kara took up at one point in the comics with Clark taking up the Nightwing name and Kara taking up the Flamebird name. Also maybe its Superman Blue and Superman Red sorta deal who knows. It was cool though.
By the end of the episode we see people tuning to the aftermath of what happened and we see Channel 52 on display. I talked more about that here.
We then see Lex and Slade looking up on the LexCorp building. I talked more about LexCorp here but its first appearance in the comics is in The Man of Steel #2 (1986) [W&P: John Byrne, I: Dick Giordano, C: Tom Zuiko, L: John Costanza] as shown below:
Shout out to Clark still wearing the Stussy S/the cool S
and finally we close out the episode with Clark and Kara going to stop the fire at Perez Plaza, named after legendary artist George Perez.
George Perez is well known for his Wonder Woman run and being the co-creator of the Teen Titans in the 80s with Marv Wolfman. He helped design Lex Luthor's iconic battle suit (I really hope to see it in MAwS someday). Perez also had a run on the Superman comics too. He worked on Action Comics for a short while as penciler and did some breakdown work on the title. He also wrote and inked on the Adventure of Superman comics. Perez wrote, did the layouts, and drew the cover art for the 2011 Superman run. If you love the Teen Titans/Titans, like me, you gotta give thanks to this man.
DC in 2022 did a really awesome tribute to him by collaborating with other DC artists to show how much of an impact his career was on the DC universe give both images a look cuz its beautiful and you can see which artist did which character. Also check this video out and see George Perez work his art magic:
youtube
And with that our episodic look at the Easter Eggs and references come to an end, but we still have the other 4 issues of the My Adventures with Superman tie-in comic so come back here again in August for that.
In the mean time when we get a date for season 3 I highly recommend reading the My Adventures with Superman comics, read The Man of Steel (1986) limited series because a lot of pop culture's understanding of the Superman mythos and characters comes from that limited series, read the Death of Superman, A World Without Superman, and Reign of the Supermen because you will see how much of an impact Superman made defending Metropolis from Doomsday, his death affecting everyone he met, and his glorious return. Also give the DC Rebirth era of Superman comics a shot too because you get to see Lois and Clark raise a son. The DC Infinite Frontier Superman run that came after the Rebirth era is just as good that I highly recommend reading too. Out of continuity wise definitely check out Superman: Secret Identity, All-Star Superman, Kingdom Come, the current World's Finest run, and Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man.
In terms of watching highly recommend watching Superman the Animated Series because that series is equally good to MAwS and it helped build out the DCAU which I also highly recommend everyone to dive into. Shin Ultraman (and hell basically all of the Ultraman media) because like Superman its an alien who defends the Earth, hides amongst the population and actually thinks human beings can live up to their potential. Tsuburaya's Ultraman and Superman would be damn good friends. If you need some goofy fun, the Super Friends is a fun watch if you need light hearted cartoons.

Abandoned
Tea Type: Milk Tea
Potential Triggers: Struggling with eating in an anorexic manner as well as intentional sleep deprivation and self care in general.
Pairing: Daryl/F! Reader (Can be read platonic)
Length: 2.4k+
Summary: Daryl leaves, and by the time he comes home you've completely stopped taking care of yourself, much to his upset. He comforts and helps you get back on the right track.
A/N: Me? Writing more self-indulgent comfort about struggling with eating, sleep and self care? It’s more likely than you think! Also maybe I’ve binged nearly 3 whole seasons of The Walking Dead and fell in love with Daryl again. That probably didn’t help. This is just pure fluff and hurt/comfort!
When Rick and the others returned, your eyes scanned them all instinctively for injuries and when you didn’t see him, you swallowed hard.
“…Where is he?”
Your voice cracked as you looked to Carol and she gave you a watery smile of her own.
“He left. Found Merle and made his choice.”
Her voice was gentle and understanding but all you felt was abandoned and cold and angry. A rare emotion for you to feel at your family. When she went to move forward and put a hand on your shoulder you cringed and hugged yourself instead.
Your heart-broken gaze moved to Rick.
“No. You-you just let him leave?! How could you?”
“We didn’t have a choice. He was gonna bring Merle back-”
“So you just abandoned him?! Let him leave? After everything we’ve been through? Everything he’s done for us?!”
Tears streamed freely down both cheeks and you moved to storm out of the metal gates when Glenn stopped you with a hand on your upper arm.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
You roughly pulled away and leveled a glare his way.
“Get off me! You all might be fine with abandoning him to die with his brother, just the two of them out there, but I’m not. I’d rather take my chances with someone I know will be loyal.”
You whirled to look at the whole group, angrily wiping away your tears.
“Y'know what? Merle was a dick. He was rude, and crass and didn’t care about anyone but his brother. He could be monstrous and I’m not negating that. But don’t forget that Daryl was different too in the beginning, before we gave him the chance to change. And even if Merle didn’t- even if he was still a jerk who put himself before others- I trust Daryl enough to adapt and be loyal to us both. To try and help his brother change. I thought you all would too.”
When you moved to the gate you frowned as Carol blocked the way glare weakening to upset.
“…Please, move Carol. I have to do this.”
“Do what? Get yourself killed? Starve to death as you search for them like needles in a haystack? I may have lost him but I am not losing you too. And he’d never want you to go out there and put yourself at risk. He’d never forgive any of us if we let you leave. Deep down, I think you know that.”
You stared one another down before giving a bitter, watery laugh.
“Guess we’ll never know what he would think now, would we? Whatever. I’ll be in my cell if anyone needs me.”
—–
The following days were beyond painful. You found yourself constantly looking for him on instinct, used to his grounding presence just a ways in front or back of you, the way he’d mumble quips under his breath that made you smile, blush or laugh. You missed your late night talks. Remember as you’d warmed up to him. Told him “Ohana means family. Family means no-one gets left behind.” You recalled the way he’d smirked a little and nudged you with a mumbled. “What are you, 5?” You’d gone on to defend Lilo and Stitch and nudged him back with a playful smile. It had been cold that night and he’d wrapped his arms around you, made you feel safe.
And now, you’d never felt more vulnerable and isolated. You understood what he felt like at the start. Everyone looked at you like you were a wild animal, something to be pitied that could lash out at any time.
Luckily Beth and Glenn had finally given up, but Carol was persistent. You walked around the prison on patrol, her right at your back.
“Please, eat something at least, if you won’t sleep. It’s been days. Daryl wouldn’t want you to-”
“Would you stop saying that? I already told you. I’ll eat and sleep when he’s back, not a second sooner.
“You’re acting like a child!”
Your eyes flared as you turned to her, though your expression remained cool.
“Well maybe I finally got tired being the mature one all the time. I’m still doing my part, helping everyone else. Just stop caring. Clearly it’s easy enough for everyone else to.”
Aaron joined you both as you were turning to leave when suddenly gunfire rang out, making you drop and pull Carol down with you instinctively. Aaron fell suddenly and you gasped as you saw he’d been shot in the head. Carol’s face grew steely as she positioned the body in front of you both, holding you to her tightly. Thankfully your tiny frame was easily covered.
“You stay still and you don’t move alright?”
Carol’s voice was shaky as you heard shouts ring out all around you. Are you being attacked? You hated that even now you still shook from adrenaline and fear. You heard Maggie cry out as she provided cover fire.
“Carol, take her and go!!”
You both jumped up and rushed over to where you could see Beth and Carl, grabbing guns.
A car could be heard speeding and you took the time to catch your breath as you watched in anxious horror as walkers came out of the back, hordes of them. Your mind raced, trying to figure out where everyone else was. You could all be together and deal with the threat.
You did not want to lose anyone else.
In the distance you saw Glenn and Michonne helping what looked like Hershel thank God and when they pulled up you hugged them all, quickly thinking of who else was left. Rick. Where the Hell was Rick?
You asked Hershel as much and he reassured you.
“Calm down. I saw him, he’s gonna be alright.”
He looked towards the others.
“…He’s not alone. Daryl and his brother are back. Look.”
He raised his chin behind you and you sighed in immeasurable relief at the sight. Thank God. Your core family was still together.
You all gathered and some slept while others spoke quietly in the night. You couldn’t even look at Daryl. Not yet. You didn’t want to break; not when the situation was so precarious.
Once morning came discussions began in earnest on what to do. Some wanted to leave, others wanting to stay. Rick went to leave again and Hershel finally snapped, understandably so.
When Rick returned he began allocating and you sighed as Glenn spoke up, mind racing as you tried to think of the best course of action.
“There’s barely any food or ammo.”
Daryl mumbled back.
“Been there before. We’ll be alright.”
“That was when it was just us. Before there was a snake in the nest.”
You frowned.
“Man we gonna go through this again? Look, Merle’s staying here. He’s with us now. Get used to it. All y'all.”
He stormed off as Rick tried to stop him, heading to the second floor.
You watched the group debate.
You understood both perspectives, you really did. But with a final glance around at the others, you knew where you stood, deciding to voice it when Glenn asked a dangerous question.
“Deliver Merle to the governor. Bargaining chip. Give him his traitor, maybe declare a truce.”
You moved to glare up at him, knowing he was hurting and trying to temper your instinct; protectiveness and annoyance.
“No-one’s saying you have to like the guy or forgive him, Glenn. But think about Daryl. For once. He’s done so much for us without asking for anything in return. The least we can do is offer his family a place here.”
You scoffed as you moved to go to your cell.
“At the very least, he certainly deserves better than you talking about killing his brother in cold blood behind his back."
"Like he wouldn’t throw you to the Walkers to get away the first chance he got.”
You paused at Glenn’s hiss, before looking behind your shoulder at him, ignoring the dizziness that was making you lightheaded.
“You’re probably right. But I also know Daryl would put his life on the line to protect me from that same Walker. That’s the difference. I know why you feel the way you do, and I am truly sorry for what you and Maggie both went through. But Daryl? He’s worth more to me than revenge you think will make you feel better. And deep down I think you feel that way too.”
You walked away before he could say anything more and headed up to see Daryl. You were safe for now, and you couldn’t wait any longer.
He was waiting on his bed, fiddling with his arrows. You took a shaky breath to try and steel yourself but when you opened your mouth his eyes abruptly cut to you.
“When was the last time you ate or slept?”
You winced and looked away, mouth closing as you’d gone quiet. You swallowed nervously.
“…haven’t since you left.”
“‘Scuse me?!”
You looked back at him when his voice rose and saw the anger in his eyes.
“The Hell you mean you ain’t ate or slept since I left? It’s been 4 days now.”
“It doesn’t matter, I’ll do it now okay so just-”
You turned to leave, cheeks burning in humiliation at your secret being out but looked back as rough calloused fingers curled around your arm.
“Like Hell it don’t matter! Look at me!”
You met his eyes and your tears finally fell as you did so. The aggressive tone was a bit triggering, but you and him both knew you wouldn’t have broken down like you needed to otherwise.
“I’m sorry okay!? I didn’t want you to know, I thought-I just…”
You used your free hand to cover your mouth as you sobbed.
“I didn’t want to live in a world you weren’t here with me! They wouldn’t let me go find you so I just- I just shut down. It was good anyway, Carl’s a growing kid and I’d rather my portion be used to help the others than go to waste. It was a good thing!”
Your voice cracked and you looked away to try and gather yourself when Daryl gently guided your face back to look him in the eye.
“You sacrificin’ yourself while spiraling ain't a good thing. I promise I won’t leave like that again. An’ if I ever did, I’d come back for ya. But that means ya gotta take care of yourself. Not worry the others. Beth told me, soon as I got in. Told me you was bein’ a damn fool and to get some sustenance and sleep in ya.”
You gave a watery laugh at that and moved to hug him, hiding your face in his neck and taking comfort in the warmth and solidness of him.
“Should’ve known she’d tell you. Between her and Carol it was getting pretty difficult. Pretty sure Carol was just gonna start force-feeding me soon.”
His husky chuckle made you melt further into him but he sighed and pulled back, raising his chin toward the 1rst floor.
“She must’ve got her stubborn streak from watchin’ you. Now, get some food first before you doze off, you can eat it here with me and then you’re going the Hell to bed. Y'know I’ll wake you soon as anything happens.”
You blushed at the embarrassing question you wanted to ask but he beat you to it, fingers running through your hair in the familiar way he did when you’d have a nightmare or insomnia before he left.
“Obviously I’ll be right by your side. You ain’t the only one who was strugglin’. Kept looking over my shoulder to make sure you were alright. I want you in my sight. 'Specially knowing what stupid shit you’ll do if separated from me again.”
You smiled at the fondness in his tone and pulled away to go get food. The dizziness was getting worse so you grabbed an apple and called it good as you trucked up the stairs again to his room.
He frowned a bit at the small portion but sighed in defeat after a moment from where he was back on the bottom bunk.
“Apple for now is fine, it’s probably best you get your stomach used to food again anyhow.”
You forced the apple down despite your lack of hunger since Daryl was back. That was what you’d promised Carol. You didn’t want anyone to worry about you anymore. You’d been selfish enough. Clearly you weren’t as slick as you thought if both Beth and Carol had caught on.
When you finished it down to the core he moved over to make a small space for you to cuddle into, eyes still locked on his arrow. You couldn’t stifle your smile and moved to make yourself comfortable. Wall at your back and Daryl at your right it felt like you could breathe again and you couldn’t help your yawn at the familiar position.
“Here. I doubt you’ll need if since you’re so tired but it never hurts.”
His voice was gruff but you saw the intimacy of the action as he tossed his familiar leather jacket over you, knowing you slept infinitely better with a blanket.
“You can use me as a pillow too, if ya need. I’m not goin’ anywhere.”
You relaxed completely and let yourself feel safe and contented as you snuggled into his shoulder and neck. The warmth emanating from him was already making you drift off and the dizziness was fading.
“Thanks for not leaving me. Sorry for being stupid and selfish and… like a child.”
He chuckled at that and moved one of his arms to circle you and pull you closer, ruffling your hair before continuing to play with it.
“S'fine. Everyone’s warranted a temper tantrum now and then. Just don’ make a habit of it or I’ll have to smack ya upside the head good.”
“Yeah, right. A big…softie like you?”
You stifled another yawn.
“Doubt it.”
He smiled and you blissfully passed into unconsciousness. He looked up as Carol leaned against the doorway, a wry smile on her face.
“Haven’t had a chance to say. I’m glad you came back.”
He scoffed a little.
“To what? All this?”
Carol came to sit down, voice quiet but clear.
“This is our home.”
He met her eyes meaningfully.
“This is a tomb.”
“That’s what T-Dog called it. Thought he was right…till you found me.”
Her voice was somber but gentle.
“He’s your brother, but he’s not good for you. Don’t let him bring you down. After all, look how far you’ve come.”
Her eyes moved to you sleeping soundly against him in meaning and he looked away a moment before looking back as they shared a chuckle.

Hey, wondering if you'd like to do a scene analysis for Carol and Daryl's argument in Find Me (10x18)?
When carol says "is it possible she just left?" and daryl says "WHAT" and then Carol says "it's not an accusation", I'm never sure what's happening there. What is the 'accusation'? There are a lot of parallels between leah and carol. And daryl says that he should have been there for leah while carol says she doesn't need a saviour etc. I wondered whether daryl is so sensitive about the idea that leah just left bc that's something carol has done to him which hurt him? Or maybe it means something else.
And there's also when daryl says to carol "you never know when to stop" which parallels carol saying to him during his years in the woods "I don't want to lose you out here because you don't know when to stop".
And when he says "I know where I'm supposed to be" as well as him writing to Leah "I belong with you". What are your thoughts about those things?
I also spotted that after Carol leaves the argument saying that she's going to fix the door, in the closing moment, you can hear her with a hammer presumably fixing the door while Daryl is still looking out the window. To me, this symbolises how she's trying to fix things while Daryl is still looking for what he thinks he needs to find. I haven't heard anyone else talk about the symbolism of this bit, so would love to hear if you have any thoughts?
Would love to hear your general thoughts and opinions about the scene too :)
Ooo, this is such a good ask, thank you! Season 10 Episode 18, Find Me, is such a heart-wrenching episode and I'm so excited to do an analysis for this scene. It's a very difficult scene for a lot of Carol/Caryl fans especially to get through but there's a lot of interesting details to unpick within it so let's get started.
Before I get onto the analysis of the fight scene between Daryl and Carol, I want to mention how previous to this scene happening, it's Carol who finds the note that Daryl initially left for Leah "we belong together - find me" and that's the catalyst for this whole upcoming conversation. It's no coincidence that Carol was actually the person to find the note and as she's now on her way to find him in France, I find this detail very interesting.
Now, onto the analysis. For me, a lot of this scene can be understood by thinking about Daryl's hero/guilt complex, made up of pieces of trauma that he's really struggled with as early as season 3. It started with Merle, then Beth, then Glenn, then Connie and now Leah, whom he has no idea where she is or if she's even alive. This is a big reason why the conversation starts with Daryl saying "I should've been there - I could've helped her" because he feels guilty, for multiple reasons: Daryl began his relationship with Leah during the time when Carol went to marry Ezekiel. Whilst Daryl had given Carol his blessing to marry Ezekiel, it's clear to see how disappointed and sad he is whilst doing it and it was confirmed through Angela Kang's script notes that Daryl was jealous of Ezekiel during this scene but ultimately, Daryl being Daryl and how much he cares about Carol, wants to put her happiness first and if that means giving her his blessing to marry someone else, he's going to do that. Now obviously, the main reason why Daryl was out in the woods during the 6 year time jump in season 9 was to look for Rick, I believe another reason he chooses to stay out in the woods is because he can't bare to see Carol and Ezekiel together every day and this is why he refuses their offers to stay at the Kingdom during the time jump. There are some very noticeable parallels between Carol and Leah. Firstly, there are some parallels of the scenes Daryl shares with Carol during Find Me and those he shares with Leah in the flashbacks of the same episode, one of these being the most noticeable is the fishing scene. Moreover, there are quite a few similarities and parallels between Leah and Carol as people, the most noticeable being that both women have lost a child and consequently decided to isolate themselves in a cabin away from everyone else. The theory is that Daryl, seeing all of these similarities between Leah and Carol, took comfort in Leah who almost put a plaster, if you like, over the hole in Daryl's heart that Carol had left when she went to marry Ezekiel. This is just one of the reasons why Daryl feels guilty because he was never in love with her and Leah knew this because she admits it to Pope in Season 11 Episode 4, Rendition - that's because Daryl's heart was already with somebody else, she'd just temporarily covered the hole in his heart that they'd left. Daryl probably also felt guilty because he didn't give his full commitment to Leah and only decided to go to the cabin to be with her properly once Carol told him that she wouldn't be able to come and visit him at his camp anymore due to her commitments at the Kingdom. I believe this is because Daryl finally realised that he'd lost Carol for good because before, with her continuing to visit him at his camp and even offering to come and stay out in the woods with him, his heart probably still held a little bit of hope in it. The other thing that probably makes Daryl feel guilty is that when he finally did go to the cabin to be with her, she'd already gone and from what we could tell, he didn't spend much time actively looking for her, as he had other people who'd gone missing. I think, with him saying this at the beginning of the conversation, Daryl worries that something could've happened to Leah and he thinks that maybe, if he'd been there when it happened, he could've prevented it or stopped her from getting hurt.
Carol suggests that maybe Leah left of her own accord. I believe that Daryl says "what?!" here because he doesn't want to believe that Leah would've done that after telling him she would wait for him to make a decision about what he wants and where he wants to be. I also believe this is why Carol responds with "it's not an accusation" because she doesn't want Daryl to think she's accusing Leah of just fleeing and abandoning him, especially when neither of them know the full story or what actually happened.
It's moments after this that it becomes clear Carol is, however, fully aware of Daryl's hero/guilt complex and I think she fully believes this is why he's so caught up about Leah as she says "stop thinking that every time you lose someone it's your fault, because of something you've done". This is her gentle way of trying to tell him that if Leah just left or decided she didn't want to be with him any more of her own free will, then that's Leah's choice and Leah's loss - it's not on him.
However, this is where some of Daryl's feelings about everything start to come out and there are deeper meanings under the surface that come with everything he's saying. Carol begins by listing some of the people who she believes Daryl feels like he's had a part to play in or blames himself completely for their dissapearence and/or demise: Leah, Rick and Connie. I believe that Carol in no way, shape or form blames Daryl for what happened to Connie and that she instead fully blames herself. However, knowing him as well as she does, especially as she knows of his hero/guilt complex, I think she thinks there may be even a small part of him that blames himself for Connie. She's very quickly proven wrong though because Daryl turns around and tells her he thinks what happened to Connie is on her and that she never knows when to stop. As previously mentioned, I think Carol already believes she's fully to blame for Connie but I think hearing it coming from the mouth of the person who's closest to her is a bit like a kick in the teeth. Daryl telling Carol she doesn't know when to stop is a parallel to when she told him, in one of the flashbacks during Find Me, that she doesn't want to lose him outside in the woods because he doesn't know when to stop looking for Rick. Therefore, it's like Daryl is pointing out that she told him he needs to learn when to stop but she also needs to learn the same thing. It's also him starting to let out his hurt and frustration about how, no matter what he did or said to her to try and help and comfort her, she wouldn't stop hurting herself and she broke her promise that she would stop trying to hurt herself in Season 10 Episode 9, Squeeze, whilst they were in the cave.
Carol goes on to say that whilst she's sorry for what happened to Connie, she's not sorry for going after the horde and for getting justice for Henry's death. When she says that she was right, I believe she's refering to being right about Alpha and her behaviour and her predictions for how the Whisperer war would go. This upsets Daryl more because to him, her saying that she's not sorry about going after the horde could also mean she's not sorry for the consequences that brought but more importantly to him, she's also not sorry for risking her life in the process, something he desperately tried to prevent for weeks as he was trying to get the message through to her that it would crush him if anything happened to her, but that message kept falling on deaf ears. This is why Daryl turns around and says "and that's all that matters, you being right". To me, this is a callback to Season 10 Episode 8, The World Before, when Daryl tells her "you want her dead so badly, you don't even care what happens to you." Daryl is saying this to her because he's hurt that she's willing to put the people she cares about's lives but most importantly her life on the line just so she could defeat Alpha and prove she was right about the Whisperers, when he believes that she's fully aware what the impact on him would be if she got hurt or worse, died.
It's now that Carol realises that this whole conversation they're having isn't even about Leah, or Connie or anybody else. She realises it's about her. She asks Daryl to tell her what he really wants to say. She asks him to open up to her and be honest with her. Daryl responds with "you shouldn't have come". This is him using a deflection tactic - he doesn't want to say what he really wants to her. I believe this is because of a mixture of him not wanting to open up right now because of how hurt and frustrated he is and him not wanting to snap at her and saying something he'll end up regretting. I also think there's a part of him that regrets starting this conversation and he's a bit mad that they came across the cabin which became the catalyst for the conversation and that's also why he tells her she shouldn't have come.
When Carol says that she wanted to come to help, I believe her. I believe that by the time we get to 10C, especially the latter half of 10C, Carol has realised the consequences of some of her actions earlier in the season and it's clear she's thought a lot about the mistakes she's made and is now ready to start fixing them and building bridges with people. Therefore, I definitely don't think she's lying when she says this. Daryl, however, as the person who knows her the best, knows that there's more to it than just that and that's why he responds with "no, you wanted to run." It's not that he didn't believe what she said but that he knew there was another, maybe bigger reason behind her wanting to come with him. He says he believes she's running from her guilt but I believe another part of the reason why he thinks she's running and why he's upset and worried about is because she's not happy being around Team Family, but more specifically him. He knows he would do anything to make her happy but as she keeps running, that puts doubts in his mind about whether he'll ever be able to make her happy and that hurts him (more on this later).
When he says that she made it his problem, she says his only problem is feeling like he needs to save everybody - another reminder that she's fully aware of his hero/guilt complex, because if there's anybody he can't save, he will never be able to forgive himself for what happens to them. This hurts Daryl though, even more so when Carol says she doesn't need a saviour because if there's anybody he wants to protect and save at anytime, it's her. From the very early days, he's been saving her, protecting her and looking after her just as she's done him and he's enjoyed doing this because he wants to do it for her so hearing her say that she doesn't need that is really hard for him, especially because he couldn't bare to see her in any danger.
When Carol tells him she just needs a friend, Daryl responds with "friends don't have the same conversations over and over again." Again, this feeds into Daryl's frustration about the fact that he was desperately trying to be there for Carol and get through to her and guide her through her grief and all the trauma she was going through, but all his messages were falling on deaf ears. On a deeper note, I also believe part of this frustration, however small, is about how stuck he is in terms of having feelings for Carol but feeling unable to say them aloud to anyone, but especially to her. Daryl has kind of gone in a constant cycle in terms of his feelings for Carol. He thinks he's lost her, realises how short life is - especially during the apocalypse, decides that he'll tell her how he feels and then something or someone gets in the way (I can make a whole separate analysis on the 'cycle of feelings' if you'd like). Consequently, Daryl is now at a stage where he wants to admit it to her so much that it's becoming frustrating for him because he still can't tell her because she's grieving, they've had the Whisperer War to deal with and she keeps trying to run away. The notion that Daryl's messages have been falling on deaf ears is emphasised when Carol says that this type of conversation is new to her and it only frustrates Daryl more, who once again tries to tell her that this is what he's been trying to tell her and help her with all along and because she's not been listening for so long, he's now at a point where he feels like his message will never get through to her.
Carol, evidently annoyed now, tells Daryl that if he'd wanted to prevent all of this from happening, he should've just let her get back on the boat and he confirms that yes, he should've done that - that he stopped her from running and he shouldn't have. A lot of fans are confused as to why Daryl says this but I do believe there's a reason behind it and it's not because he wanted her to go back on the boat. We all saw how hard Daryl tried to get Carol to stay, he even offered her to run away to New Mexico multiple times if she would've be happier doing that. However, things got in the way of them going to New Mexico and Daryl firmly believes that Carol hasn't been the same since she got off the boat, something in which he mentions to Michonne during season 10 episode 3, Ghosts. Therefore, I believe the reason Daryl says that he should've let Carol go back on the boat is because he's come to believe that she would've been happier there. That, like he told Michonne, he believes that she'd found happiness out at sea but he begged her to stay and since then, she hasn't been the same Carol that he's always known. I believe there is a note of guilt from Daryl there because he feels like he's taken away her peace and happiness.
Now comes one of the most difficult lines to hear from Daryl in the whole scene and seeing the hurt on Carol's face as he says these things is heartbreaking but I do understand and have ideas of why he says it. "You wanna run, run. I know where I'm supposed to be. I won't stop you this time." Let's break this down into parts. So firstly, Daryl tells her she should run if she wants to. I believe that this is Daryl putting everythig he's thinking and feeling aside and is willing to let her go, if that's what will be best for her. The reason he says it in the tone he does is because he's already had to let her go once, when she went to marry Ezekiel and that aleeady caused him enough heartache. The thought of losing Carol has always crushed Daryl but as previously mentioned, especially after seeing how happy and at peace it made her to be at sea on the boat, I think he's come to realise that he needs to let her go and be happy, even if that's somewhere else and with someone other than him, even if it breaks his heart - because just like he felt when he gave her his blessing to marry Ezekeil, he is always going to put her happiness first no matter what. That's why he says that if she wants to run, he won't stop her this time because no matter what it will do to him, if it will make her happy to be elsewhere and with other people, that's all that matters to him. When he says he knows where he's supposed to be, I don't think this is about Leah, or about being with Team Family or even being at any of the communities we know about, as a lot of people think. I think that's Daryl's way of saying - "I know you're my person and I know I'm meant to be with you. Now you need to figure out where you're supposed to be and if that's not with me, if it's someplace else or with other people, then I'll let you go, because i want you to be happy." That's what I feel like is hidden underneath the words he says there but he can't say that whole thing aloud because it's crushing his heart just by saying the things he is.
The conversation ends by Carol saying "I was right - our luck's ran out, you and me." This is interesting because Carol saying "I was right" refers back to when she said it during this conversation before and it makes me question whether it was this notion that she meant all along. When she talks about their luck running out, I think she's referring to the fact that they've always been so lucky to have such a close and special bond, but now, it's crumbling apart and if she thought that they had the worst falling out they'd ever had after the cave incident in Squeeze, then she was heavily mistaken, because it has gotten worse and now, it feels like their luck has run out, it feels like their bond is broken and that they've both lost each other. Quite a few fans compared this scene to being like a break up and I can certainly see where they're coming from.
I love what you said about Carol fixing the door at the end and Daryl looking out into the open. I'd never thought about that before. However, it does make sense with how Carol tries to fix and make up for her mistakes in season 11. I think the symbolism for that part would've been more noticeable and stronger if Caryl had had a chance to talk about this argument and build bridges from it in season 11 and I think, for a time, that was the plan, but unfortunately, Melissa then dropped out of the spinoff (for a time) and the main show received its end date before anybody expected so that resulted in a lot of things they wanted to achieve in season 11 not being able to be completed.
Hopefully, in the spinoff, where the focus will be completely on Daryl and Carol, they can have deep, meaningful conversations that they need to have and begin to work through their trauma and build bridges for things that remain unresolved from the flagship show ❤️🤞

❝ The jokes weren't funny, I took the money My friends from home don't know what to say I looked around in a blood-soaked gown And I saw something they can't take away ❞

You hated that motherless son of a bitch. He was so annoying, smug, and just an asshole in general. Which made you want to kill Carl even more.
Every day, at six in the morning, he'd storm inside your prison and throw a plate of expired food at you, punch you in the face, and then lock you inside. Every. Fucking. Day.
Oh, and that was just the beginning, sometimes he'd feed you dog food.
You were sitting in the same chair, but this time there was a table in front of you. Cause, "Carl is so... nice." You heard the door unlock, expecting it to be Carl.
You said, "Come to feed me more dog food, Carl?" You laughed.
But you were surprisingly wrong. It was a man who looked a lot like Carl. And you most definitely knew this man. "Rick?" You questioned.
"He's been feeding you dog food?!" He asked furiously. You nodded.
He let out a breathy laugh. "I told him not to do that."
"So, you're Negan's daughter. I remember you. I remember that day."
'Negan's daughter.' God, it hurt so fucking bad. Everyone called you 'Negan's daughter.' Of course, sure, the Alexandrians probably didn't even know who you were, but it was the fact that most of your father's minions called you 'The boss' daughter' or 'Negan's daughter.'
"Yeah, I remember you too, Rick. I saw it. How scared you all were. And when my dad killed that Chinaman and that red-headed fool, I felt nothing. So, if that's what you wanna talk about, then done." You said bitterly.
Rick stared at you with a blank expression before moving closer to you. "He's Korean! And his name was Glenn, Glenn Rhee. And that red-headed fool's name was Abraham Ford! And YOU don't get to talk about them like that," he yelled.
He crossed his arms and leaned back against a dirty wall.
"We'll let you stay here. In Alexandria. Just listen to us. Answer what we want you to." You frowned. "Why should I? Huh?"
"You won't survive another minute out there. Carl saved you! We saved you," he shouted. "No! He kidnapped me. He didn't save me at all. And neither did you."
You sighed, "So stop. Just stop, Rick Grimes. You're not helping. I don't wanna stay in this garbage community. It's repulsing!"
"Tell me if you change your mind. Until then, we won't let you out. Not today, not tomorrow."
"How about the day after tomorrow?"
He chuckled but didn't speak any further. He left, locking the door after.
≿━━༺❀༻━━≾
You were getting bored of staring at the same grey walls. "Fuck!" You shouted.
You grabbed your chair and threw it at the wall, which did not make a difference as the chair instead broke.
You laughed and threw your head back. Of course, it had to break.
And now your back was against the cold floor, you brought your knees up to your chest. "Happy, happy, happy..." You whispered to yourself.
"Daddy loves you, Y/N."
"No, no. Stop..." You cried out.
Blood, sweat, tears, starve.
Jokes, money, friends, gone. Dead.
Around, soaked gown, cry, scream.
You're on your own, kid.
You always have been.
Face it. Face it. Tell them. Tell them you're—
"Stop! No. Stop, I can't—" You're heart was racing, and sweat dripped down your forehead, maybe you were dying, you were too young, your hands were trembling, "No, no—" You couldn't breathe, it only meant one thing.
"No! Stop, no. No! Stop it!" You screamed over and over.
"Daddy loves you, Y/N."
"No, you don't!" You yelled repeatedly.
You blinked rapidly, but you felt like giving in. Sleep, die. Sleep, die. Sleep, die.
You heard the door open, or maybe it was your imagination. Yeah, that's it. Right? Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing special.
You were a fucked up little girl.
≿━━༺❀༻━━━━≾
"She's waking up! Doc," You tried sitting up, but someone stopped you. "Hey, take it easy, sweetheart."
What even happened? I don't know...
What?
You looked around the room. You were in a rather uncomfortable bed. The walls were painted a disgusting shade of green.
"No," you groaned. Your eyes were met with another. A singular blue eye. Fuck, it's him. "Damnit, it's—"
"—Me. Surprised, Y/N?" He chuckled.
≿━━༺❀༻━━━━≾
So, you had a panic attack. It was not much of a surprise to you, but it was to Carl. "Wow, I knew you were fucked up in the head, but panic attacks too?"
You felt a bit ashamed. So much was done for you, and you didn't even deserve all this 'protection and care.' "Just cause you're a total mess doesn't mean I immediately care about you. I hate you." He confessed. You smiled.
"Why are you smiling?" He asked curiously.
You grabbed the glass vase. It was to your right. You jammed it in Carl's arm, making him scream in pain and fall back. "You fucking bitch!"

Masterlist
You walked around the barn, checking for any weak spots. There were small cracks in the exterior but you couldn’t find any loose boards or spots big enough for a walker to sneak out of. This didn’t make you feel any better, however. You could hear the groans and clattering going on inside, each sound making the hair on your neck stand up.
Despite Rick’s promise to speak with Hershel, your hopes were low. If he truly believed these walkers were just sick people, there was no way he was going to agree to put them down.
“My father’s going to kick your people out now, you know?” Maggie spoke from behind you.
You let out a small sigh, turning to face her. “You can’t seriously believe these people are sick.”
“Those people are my family.” Maggie hissed. “If Glenn would’ve just let it go-”
“We deserved to know.” You cut her off. “Look, I get why your father feels the way he does but you guys haven’t seen what we’ve seen. You haven’t seen people being eaten alive, screaming in agony. Sick or dead, they’re dangerous.”
Maggie was silent for a moment. “When Glenn and I went into town yesterday, one of those things almost got me. He saved my life.”
“Then you understand.” You whispered. “Please, help us make your father understand. Maybe we can move them somewhere else, away from where we all sleep. There’s gotta be a way.”
“I’ll talk to him.” Maggie agreed. “I don’t know if he’s going to change his mind but I’ll try.”
You smiled. “Thank you.”
Maggie nodded before turning around and heading back towards the farmhouse. You took one last look at the barn before making your way back to camp.
Hunter sat on a stump, awaiting your return. As soon as he saw you approaching, he stood up.
“Were you at the barn?”
You nodded. “It looks safe enough for now. I wouldn’t worry too much, alright? That’s my job.”
Hunter nodded, though you could feel his discomfort. Knowing what he’d experienced out there, the last thing you wanted was for him to be scared here. You had thought this place was as safe as it gets now and part of you felt guilty having brought him back here. Sure, there were much worse places to be, but you wanted the best for him.
“Listen,” you spoke, crouching down to his level. “I won’t let anything happen to you, okay? We’ll figure out a way to make this place safer for all of us. I just need you to be careful and always stay within eyesight of an adult.”
“I will, I promise.” Hunter responded. After a moment of silence, his face began to crinkle. “Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.” You smiled.
“Yesterday Carl got to go with everyone else. He got to practice shooting a gun. Why couldn’t I go?”
Your face fell at his question, as you had no idea how to answer it. “Did you want to go?”
“I don’t know.”
“I thought about sending you with them but I wasn’t sure if you were ready for it.” You spoke plainly. “It’s a big responsibility but if you’d like to learn we can start slow. I can teach you how to handle them safely and we can work our way towards shooting lessons.”
Hunter’s face lit up. “Really?”
“As long as you feel ready. It’s important that you know how to be safe around them. For you and for others. Do you promise to take it seriously?”
“I promise.”
You nodded. “Come with me.”
The two of you walked towards the RV, making your way inside. You gestured for him to sit down at the table while you grabbed a pistol from the bag of guns.
“First, I want to show you how to handle them.” You spoke. “There are two big rules you need to follow when you’re holding a gun. First, never point it at anyone you don’t intend to shoot. Second, keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.”
You continued to go through all the rules of gun safety, Hunter listening intently. Then, you allowed him to hold one you’d made sure was empty. You could see he was being thoughtful, following every direction and piece of advice you gave him.
“They aren’t as scary as I thought.” He spoke, slowly handing the gun back to you. “I mean, I know they can be dangerous if you’re not careful.”
“I get what you mean. They’re also dangerous if others aren’t careful.” You nodded. “I’ll send you with the others for shooting practice next time.”
“Thank you, Y/N.” Hunter smiled.
You put the gun away before turning back to the boy, ruffling his hair. “I’m proud of you, kiddo.”
…
Hours passed by, uncertainty still weighing over yourself and the others. You’d seen Rick leave with Hershel and Jimmy earlier, nobody knowing where they had gone. In Rick’s absence, tensions only seemed to be running high and higher within your group.
Most of the group was sitting around the front porch of the farm house, waiting for some answers. Beth and Patricia sat with Carl and Hunter, teaching them how to play chess. Maggie and Glenn sat on the stairs together, clearly having moved past their earlier spat. You were surveying the land, hoping to see Rick approaching at any moment.
Instead, T-Dog and Andrea were approaching from the left of the porch.
“Do you know what’s going on?” T-Dog asked.
“Where is everyone?” Andrea added.
You and Glenn both approached them.
“You haven’t seen Rick?” Glenn questioned.
“Not since he went off with Hershel.” Andrea responded. “We were supposed to leave a couple hours ago.”
“Maybe that’s a good sign.” You spoke up.
Daryl and Carol now approached the four of you.
“Rick told us he was going out.” Carol said.
“Damn it. Isn’t anyone taking this seriously?” Daryl hissed. “We got us a damn trail.”
Daryl’s eyes focused on something in the distance, causing you all to turn in that direction. Shane was now approaching the group with the bag of guns on his shoulder and a shotgun in hand.
“What’s all this?” Daryl asked.
“You with me, man?” Shane questioned, handing Daryl the shotgun.
Daryl nodded, cocking the gun.
“Time to grow up.” Shane spoke, looking to Andrea. “You already got yours?”
“Yeah,” she responded. “Where’s Dale?”
“He’s on his way.”
“I thought we couldn’t carry.” T-Dog inquired.
Shane shoved your gun into your hands.
“We can’t.” You hissed, holding the gun as if it were live dynamite. “Shane, what the hell are you doing?”
Shane began handing out guns. “I’m doing what needs to be done.”
“Rick is fighting to get Hershel to let us stay. You’re ruining any chances of that working.” You hissed in his ear. “You’re ruining everything.”
You could feel the anger radiating off of him, but instead of continuing to argue with you, he moved on.
“Look, it was one thing sitting around here picking daisies when we thought this place was supposed to be safe. Now we know it ain’t.” Shane turned to Glenn, offering him a gun. “What about you, man? You gonna protect yours?”
Glenn reluctantly took the gun.
“Can you shoot?” Shane asked Maggie.
“Can you stop?” She retorted. “If you do this, if you hand out these guns, my dad will make you all leave tonight.”
“We have to stay, Shane.” Carl spoke up.
Lori exited the farm house, placing her arms around Carl. “What is this?”
“Our downfall.” You mumbled.
“We ain’t going anywhere, okay?” Shane spoke. “Hershel, he’s just gotta understand. Okay? He’s just gonna have to.” He then approached Carl. “Now we need to find Sophia, am I right?”
Carl nodded as Shane held out a gun.
“Now I want you to take this. You take it, Carl, and you keep your mother safe. You do whatever it takes. You know how.”
Lori jumped between them, pushing Carl back. “Rick said no guns. This is not your call. This is not your decision to make.”
“Oh shit.”
You all turned to T-Dog before following his line of sight. In the distance, Jimmy came out of the trees, followed by a walker on a leash that Rick was holding. Hershel was also leading another walker behind him.
“What is that?” Shane asked, before beginning to run towards them.
Everyone began to follow him, including yourself. You could tell they were leading these walkers towards the barn.
“What the hell are you doing?” Shane snapped.
“Shane, just back off.” Rick demanded.
Hershel looked around. “Why do your people have guns?”
“Are you kidding me?” Shane asked. “You see what they’re holding onto?”
“I see who I’m holding onto.” Hershel responded.
Shane let out a small huff. “No, man, you don’t.”
“Shane, just let us do this and then we can talk.” Rick pleaded.
“What do you want to talk about, Rick? These things ain’t sick. They’re not people. They’re dead!” He yelled, circling them. “Ain’t gonna feel nothing for them ‘cause all they do is kill. These things right here, they’re the things that killed Amy. They killed Otis. They’re gonna kill all of us.”
“Shane, shut up!” Rick snapped.
“Hershel man, let me ask you something. Could a living breathing person walk away from this?” Shane pulled out his gun, shooting one of the walkers three times. “That’s three rounds in the chest. Could someone who’s alive just take that? Why is it still coming?”
You were watching in horror as the scene unfolded in front of you. As much as you felt Shane was doing this the wrong way, you knew deep down that he was right. No matter how much you wanted to stop him, you couldn’t bring yourself to.
Shane shot the walker twice more. “That’s its heart, its lungs. Why is it still coming?” He shot the walker another three times.
“Shane, enough!” Rick screamed.
“Yeah, you’re right, man. That is enough.” Shane spoke, walking over to the walker and shooting it in the head.
Hershel fell to his knees, still holding onto the leash as his face went pale.
“Enough risking our lives for a little girl who’s gone! Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us. Enough.” Shane continued. “Rick, it ain’t like it was before. Now if y’all want to live, if you want to survive, you’ve got to fight for it! I’m talking about fighting right here, right now.”
Shane ran towards the barn, grabbing a pickaxe and beating on the chain lock holding the doors together. Everyone watched on in shock, unsure of what to do at this point. There was no stopping Shane.
Rick begged Hershel to take hold of the walker still alive, but it was no use. Hershel was in shock, his eyes darting between the walker Shane had put down and the barn.
Shane finally broke through the lock, removing the wood plank also holding the doors together. He began banging on the doors, gaining the attention of all of the walkers inside. Then, he backed up to join the rest of you.
Everyone held up their guns, preparing for what was about to happen. In a matter of seconds, walkers began pouring out of the barn and the sound of gunshots filled the air.
“Maggie?” Glenn asked.
Maggie nodded, tears in her eyes as she held her father close. “Go, it’s okay.”
You hadn’t fired a single shot, almost paralyzed in shock and horror. You knew they were dead. You also knew how much they meant to Hershel and Maggie. All you could think about was if they had been your loved ones. Would you have the strength to do what needed to be done?
Shane turned to Rick, shooting the walker he was still holding onto. Reluctantly, Rick drew his gun and joined the group.
Your eyes landed on Hunter, who was looking at you with uncertainty. In that moment, you knew you needed to set an example. You couldn’t be afraid to do what you needed to do to protect him. Taking a deep breath, you stepped forward and lifted your gun, shooting one of the walkers in the head.
Over a dozen walkers had fallen before no more came out. The gunfire stopped as everyone looked around, observing the scene before them. Nobody spoke, so the sound of groans and shifting feet coming from inside the barn caught your attention.
You watched in horror as one final walker exited the barn.
Sophia.
As she stepped into the sunlight, you noticed a large bite in the side of her neck. Carol let out a guttural scream, running towards her daughter. Daryl quickly caught the woman, stopping her from getting too close.
“Sophia.” Carol cried, falling to the ground in Daryl’s arms.
Sophia began to walk towards you, stumbling over the bodies laying on the ground, her growls growing more intense. You could hear Carl crying behind you and Hunter began to hug your waist. Throwing your arms around him, you held him closer.
You watched as Rick stepped forward, walking past your entire group to get to Sophia. Her growls only grew louder the closer she got to him. Rick raised his gun slowly as you closed your eyes, a loud bang echoing out through the farm lands followed by a thud of her small body hitting the ground.

Soo volume 3 dark au now?
Volume 3? We haven't even gone over 2 yet! That said, let's look at what Volume 2 has. See if we can brainstorm something together.
Best Day Ever - Starting off strong, there are two key events to look into for Volume 2, those being the food fight and the murder of Tukson at the hands of Emerald and Mercury. Granted, Team RWBY are dead before they started, so there's not much to be done on that front. However, I feel like Tukson's death could be an interesting plot point that could be looked into, since he was a deserter of the White Fang.
Welcome to Beacon - This episode features some discussion about the security brought along with the visiting General Ironwood. There's also a scene in the library in which Blake talks about the dock fight, though neither of these happened because, well, Blake and the rest of RWBY are dead. However, this would be a good point to bring in Neptune to meet Jaune, Penny, and Ciel. This episode also has Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury meeting Ruby, showing that they've infiltrated Beacon.
A Minor Hiccup - This episode had RWBY making plans to figure out what's going on in Vale after the dock fight, neither happened because blah. This episode also features the return of Penny and the reveal to Ruby that she isn't human... Which we already covered... Oof...
Painting The Town... - This is probably my favorite episode of V2 simply for the fight against Torchwick! Will something just as epic happen?! ...Probably not, BUT WHO KNOWS?! I don't, but we could maybe do something with this one.
Extracurricular - Pyrrha spars against CRDL and Mercury... Sun gets shot down by Blake for the dance... Jaune "serenades" Weiss... Emerald and Mercury discuss Pyrrha... None of this happens because they're all
Burning The Candle - Another favorite of mine since we have Blake and Yang having their talk (COUGH COUGH ONLY BMBLB MOMENT COUGH COUGH) and Jaune and Ren also have their talk. None of this happens, but I still love this episode, though. BUT the dance does start at the end of the episode.
Dance Dance Infiltration - CAUSE BABY! IT'S TIME YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIIIIIND~! Which doesn't happen, yada yada yada, but we could have Jaune and Penny share a dance with Ciel, though Ms. Soleil probably doesn't know how to dance. Oh, and also Cinder steals classified data.
Field Trip / Search and Destroy / Mountain Glenn / No Brakes /Breach - Ah, now THIS is where things REALLY have to change! It's Team JPC and a Beacon Professor out on a field trip! Which Professor? Where to? And how does it all lead up to the finale?! This might be it's own mini-arc in itself!
But what do you think?

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Theories, Part 3
This has spoilers for all episodes of Only Murders in the Building to 4x07 Valley of the Dolls.
To skip this post, please strike the ‘J’ key.
Previous Posts: OMitB Theories Part 1 - OMitB Theories Part 2
The Why - and the Why Now - of This Season
So far we've suspected that Sazz was killed for knowing something about another murder in the building, something that somehow lead to something being wrong with the movie.
But all we actually know is that she wanted to talk to Charles about something "sensitive" before she was shot, and she was retiring from stunt work - more specifically, she was transitioning into a new job. And from Charles' flashbacks this season, we know that her dream was to open a school to train the next generation of stunt folk.
We also know that the plot of land Sazz was planning on using for her school was previously a toxic waste dump that "the government cleaned up" via "Superfund".
I don't believe Sazz was killed because of the movie or the podcast. I believe Sazz was killed (and also Glenn was shot with the intention to kill him) because the toxic waste cleanup wasn't completed - the funds were embezzled, and the embezzler(s) are trying to divert suspicion to a conspiracy in the Arconia, given the murder podcast + movie + everything else going on there.
It seems like Sazz and Glen were relatively close, given how she put another dude in an arm bar until he peed himself because he kept harassing Glen with bad Irish jokes. Sazz asked Charles to keep her dream "under our hats" because the other stunt guys would laugh about it, but I think it's reasonable to think she would be recruiting other stunt people to help setup the institute--and since Glen had recently lost his face (Ben Glenroy), it makes sense that she'd start with someone like him. His "number one" was gone, and he was clearly looking for work because of it. Sazz could've pulled him in as her right hand man (aka her Number Two) for running the school after Glenroy's death left him without a job.
So, after Sazz's death, Glen could've been looking into opening the school in her honor anyway, which is why someone tried to take him out. What's more, the shooter this time tried to take Glen out with a headshot, whereas the shooter shot Sazz in the chest. Of course, Sazz was alone, so even if her death wasn't immediate, it would still take her down. But Glen was in a room full of people - if he was shot in the chest, he might've survived. (Yes, he survived due to a headplate, so we can assume the killer didn't know about it.)
That's right, it's a Murder Podcast about Real Estate!
And there is 100% evidence - critical evidence - related to the land for her institute or something - in the fondue set she got for Charles and Joy's engagement gift.
Reasoning behind this theory:
A major theme of this this season is the enormous impact of a professor/teacher on their students - moreover, there is a huge contrast between the presentation of a "mentor/mentee" as it was in Season 1/Season 2 (Cinda Canon and Becky Butler) and in Season 4, where we see the impact Dudenoff had on not just the Brother Sisters, but also tons of non-artsy students who took classes with Dudenoff
There's a juicy callback to Season 1 (Oliver insisting that nobody wants a murder podcast about real estate)
Sazz's call to Bev Melon could've easily been "dude, you're telling me you DIDN'T CAST BACULA?!" or something of similar level
The other theories around Sazz's death don't really explain the "Why Now?" question - issue with the movie? Knowledge of a previous death/murder? Neither really explains why someone had to shoot Sazz right now, at the beginning of the season.
It could of course be that Sazz knew about Dudenoff's death, assumed it was murder, and was also pulled in on a spying scheme on the podcasters by her agent. But spying on the trio now is just extra - I mean, the movie is based on Season 1, not Season 4 - so losing access to that spying stuff wouldn't kill the movie. But those are all red herrings in her death.
Dudenoff's Death
I am not very certain that Dudenoff wasn't murdered at all. He died of a diabetes-related complications (thus the "fear of sugar" or anti-sugar message in the Desecration of Alice).
But the Westies are definitely red herrings.
Unless one of them has a job in governmental toxic waste clean up - or getting Superfunds to cleanup the waste - then they would for sure be the killer. Wait, what do the members of "the Sauce family" do for a living again!?

NOTICE: This post is under construction as of aug 17, 2024. it is not up to date. hello! i'm boneset (or bone). thanks for stopping by my super-specific search thread! if interested, please leave a reply or dm me!
a bit about myself: she/her. I'm currently in my late 20's and have been writing/roleplaying in some shape or form for 12+ years. i'm in grad school (and will be for awhile) and work full time in mental healthcare. occasionally, days are wild.
when it comes to writing, i generally write somewhere between 500-1k words a post. the shorter the post, the faster i can write. i definitely value someone who's writing fits with mine over length or anything like that. i'm also super flexible when it comes to post rate. if it takes a little bit, that's totally fine! especially if we do build a rapport. i want this to stay as something that's fun for both of us. it's a hobby, so it comes after everything else.
doubling. i play a canon for you, you play one for me, and i love every character as my own. OR we both play two ocs who fall in love against their will. Idc.
m!canon x f!oc preferred (or m!oc x f!oc). I know who I am. I have no shame. I’m so super cautious about m// and f// after years of running into folks treating it as a fetish.
ooc chatting. for the rps that have survived my hiatuses, it's been because we made friends, or at least friendly. i like talking, sharing head canons, all that stupid crap. tldr: i need someone to send memes to.
ooc over discord, please, after we’ve graduated to that. DMs first if you don’t mind.
email, discord, gdocs, and tumblr in order of preference for the roleplay but I'm open to any.
i am a sap for romance. less so for super slow burns. sue me. I can barely read slow burn much less write it.
500-1000 words is my sweet spot for responses, but i'm not that fast of a writer, depending on what's going on. see: why i like ooc.
hard limits: be 18+ (21+ preferred) | will not write with people who identify as male (he/him) | incest | fetish stuff | abo | pwp | pedophilia | furries/beastiality | explicitly written sexual assault | abusive relationship dynamics between main characters | heavy substance abuse | main settings being medical | most highschool settings/underage characters | genuine love triangles or infidelity between main characters
pairings and all below the break!
for fandoms, I’m going to list what I’m looking to play the oc in. I am super duper happy to play nearly any canon character for you.

Queerness and Gryphons
I've been busy getting Pridelord finalized, so I've been sleepy a lot this Pride Month, but I wanted to take a moment just to talk about queerness in gryphon fiction. I'll talk about my own books in a moment, but if you want queer-friendly gryphon fiction, there's a lot out there. The Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey (and sometimes illustrated or cowritten by Larry Dixon) are full of queer characters. The Black/White/Silver Gryphon Trilogy is a classic, and the new Gryphon in Light / Gryphon's Valor series brings back gryphon protagonists and includes trans and nonbinary characters. In fact, the gryphon love interest and the feline avatar of the fire god are both named after a trans-femme and trans-masc fans. Though if you specifically want trans *gryphons*, you may want to check out The Gryphon Generation series by Alexander Bizzell. Isabell, the violet-backed starling gryphon, is trans, among other queerness. And Legends of Heraldale is a gryphon series full of trans and genderfluid characters by Brian McNatt. It's pretty hard to find genderfluid characters in epic fantasy, let me tell you as someone who is always looking! If you haven't read Song of the Summer King by Jess E. Owen, the sequel series set in the same world with some of the same characters, Rise of the Dragon Star, adds in new queer characters and establishes some old characters as queer. It's set at a middle grade age. For my own books, while there's a few gay, lesbian, bisexual, and asexual characters in the very first book, the main trans-masc character is introduced in Eyrie but transitions slowly. There are hints from the start ("[he] won't wear his sisters hand-me-downs"), but his egg cracks in book four, Reevesbane, and by book five, The Ruins of Crestfall, he's well into his transition. Once you get to Pridelord (#8), the cast has nonbinary stormtails and Whisper, a trans-femme character. I started GryphIns before I begun transitioning but after my husband had come out as trans to friends. If you're looking for trans gryphon characters written by trans authors, give me a try =] Or try some of the other authors here. If you want trans dragons by a trans man, try out the Reunification series by Glenn Birmingham. The first book, Dragon Source, hits the ground running, so the queerness is more subtext as it's about survival (and dragons). Once you get to Dragon Bound and book three, inside the city of dragons, it's a lot more clear how trans all of dragon culture is. I think a lot of us queer kids grew up reading fantasy that didn't yet make space for us. And for Millennials, while the occasional gay or lesbian character might show up, something like Brightly Burning might be the first time we saw any ace rep. I'm glad those same queer fantasy readers grew up into fantasy authors, so now if you want to read trans epic fantasy protagonists written by trans authors, you can. And I hope we see more queerness out there. (Looking at you, genderfluid epic fantasy protagonists. Where are you?) If you have any epic fantasy (or, better yet, creature fantasy!) with trans PoV characters written by trans authors, feel free to leave a comment =] I'm always looking for new things to read. Happy Pride Month! May yours be full of trans gryphons and dragons. May your recommendations be flooded with trans-masc harpies and trans-femme satyrs and nonbinary sphinx. Support queer authors and queer fiction <3

LC6M187; “Lincoln Continental”or “Lucifer/Christ”?
Shane's "22" Necklace Revisited
This is a post that's been years in the making. In fact, the themes around Shane, Beth and the Venus/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism were among the first that caught my interest when I got into TD. I could relate it all to Beth in a general sense, but I always wanted something more tangible. Sure, Lucifer means Light Bringer, and we can easily tie that to Beth. But it's also very surface level. I needed something deeper, something more like a smoking gun, and the other day, I think I found it.
The other day I was rewatching scenes from season 1 in preparation of this post, about the XH6-S781 licence plate, when I suddenly saw a familiar licence plate in a scene I hadn't been aware of, and everything clicked into place.
The LC6M187 licence plate on Shane’s Jeep Wrangler, from 1x3 Tell It To The Frogs.
It's the same as the one we see in on the car 5x2, the one Carol and Daryl use to chase after Officer Lichari's Dodge Magnum. I've written a couple of posts on that here and here. My hypothesis is that the LC in LC6M187 stands for Lincoln Continental, which is a nod to the car Daryl and Beth hid in in 4x12 Still.
LC6M187 is the licence plate on the car that directly lead Daryl and Carol to Noah, and by extension to Beth, in 5x6 Consumed.
We see it for the very first time in 1x3 Tell It To The Frogs, on Shane's black Jeep Wrangler, and we see it along with Carol's yellow Jeep Cherokee and T-Dog's Dodge Van. I talked about the Dodge Van with the XH6-S781 licence plate here, and I'll probably do a separate post on the symbolism around the yellow Jeep Cherokee soon-ish (I did talk about it some here).
At the campsite we see Carol's yellow Jeep Cherokee, T-Dog’s Dodge Van and Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler
One thing that’s abundantly clear, is that the overarching theme of 1x3 TITTF is "death" and "resurrection". More specifically, it's about Merle’s “death” and Rick’s “resurrection”. Rick, believed by his family to be dead, "resurrects" and reunites with his loved ones.
Merle, on the other hand, “disappears”, and isn’t seen again until season 3, when he “resurrects” as one of the Governor's henchmen (except for a brief appearance in Daryl's hallucination in Chupacabra). Death and resurrection are two sides to the same story, you can’t have "resurrection" without “death".
I’m not the first to point out the parallels between Merle and Beth, and I believe the LC6M187 license plate further confirmed these parallels, since we specifically see Daryl learn about Merle’s fate as we see the license plate in the shot very clearly. The story being told around the car is one of death and resurrection.
We actually first see the license plate as Daryl returns to camp after a hunt, calls for his brother and learns that he’s been left behind on a rooftop in Atlanta, exposed to the elements and to walkers. However, Rick intends to go back for him, along with Glenn and T-Dog.
Daryl joins in.
And of course, when they get there, Merle's “just gone”.
This reminds us of what many of us believe went down after 5x8 Coda. We don't know the details, but many of us theorize that for some reason, they had to leave Beth behind (and like I’ve mentioned, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the back of Officer Lichari’s Dodge Magnum), with the intention of going back for her, only when they did, they found she was “just gone”.
Let’s talk about Shane for a minute. In this old post I wrote about Shane’s 22 necklace, and in it I promised to write more on the Beth/Shane entanglement...
...and then I just never did. In my early days of being in TD, while I was still figuring out the Sirius symbolism, I did see a lot of symbolical entanglement between Shane and Beth, though I couldn’t quite articulate what it meant. I caught a lot of Morningstar references, references to Christ as the Morningstar, as well as references to Morningstar as a representation of the Devil. I read up the astronomy of the ancient Greeks, who identified Venus/the Morningstar as Phosphorous and Eosphorous, meaning the Light Bringer (Venus is a planet, not two stars as they believed).
Then when seson 4 rolled around, TPTB placed Beth in the center of the Sirius symbolism, which we saw particularly with the white one-eyed dog from Alone. As Sirius is also a Morningstar, I hypothesized that the Venus/Morningstar symbolism and the Sirius symbolism were synonomous. I still believe that.
After Slabtown, we all got obsessed with the "Get Well Soon" clock and how to interpret it.
I knew I believed one of the interpretations of the Slabtown clock involved Shane, because depending on how you read the numbers, the 10 minute marker and the 2 hour marker is the same, meaning you could use 10 and 2 interchangeably. I theorized that the clock therefore could point to episodes 2x2, 2x10, 10x2 and 10x10 (also read this post). You could for exemple argue that it pointed to episode 2x2 Bloodletting, which was when Beth first appeared on the show. But it was also a number linked to Shane, through his necklace.
Later, I also realized that the Slabtown clock could be pointing to episode 10x11 (if you read 10 - one one), which was called Morningstar, and that was a bit of a lightbulb moment; the number 22 is tied to the Morningstar reference in Revelation 22:16.
Isn’t it fascinating how the number of the verse also corresponds with Shane’s necklace?
But Morningstar has also traditionally been a reference to the Devil. That’s an interesting duality, which is perfect for TWDU, and it is something that helps explain the symbolical entanglement between Beth and Shane.
So, Lucifer is in the Bible used as one of the names of Christ, it means "light bringer". It has also been used, especially in literature, as a name for the Devil, Lucifer Morningstar. There’s an interesting duality in the name Lucifer, one iteration referring to Christ, the other referring to the Devil, and it was in that duality I picked up on the symbolism entanglement between Shane and Beth.
They had the same symbolism around them, but in Beth’s case, it was Christ symbolism, in Shane’s case it was the symbolism of the Devil. Where the LC on the LC6M187 license plate on Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler indicates he’s a Prince of Darkness, the same LC on the licence plates seen on other cars points to the resurrection sybolism of the Lincoln Continental from Still, it refers to the resurrection symbolism of a Christ figure, the properties of the Light Bringer. Light and darkness. You can’t have resurrection without death, they’re two sides to the same story.
Beth’s a Sirius figure, she’s associated with fire. We watched her light a fire in Still, she lit a stack of cash on fire to burn down the moonshine shack, she’s associated with yellow, as in her yellow polo, and Yellow Jacket Creek. Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler indicates darkness.
To say that Beth is a Light Bringer is nothing new at this point, it's been abundantly clear since 4x12 Still.
But keep in mind what happened immediately before the scene where she lit the fire:
We see Beth and Daryl "resurrect" from the trunk of the Lincoln Continental (LC) after having escaped death by walker horde the night before. And when we see her start the fire in the next scene, she does so by using the side mirror and a shard of glass from the headlights of the Lincoln Continental. Actual hardware from the car that saved their lives, the car that's been referenced by all the LC licence plates. It's a car that's tied to resurrection, and Beth immeditately establishes herself as Lucifer, the Light Bringer, using tools provided by the car, to light a fire. This is textbook Lucifer Morningstar symbolism.
And this is where an alternative way of interpreting the LC6M187 licence plate reveals itself.
Because remember what I said about the duality in that Lucifer refers to both Christ and the Devil? Could the LC, in addition to being a reference to the Lincoln Continental, also be a reference to Lucifer and Christ?
Could it be, that in the case of the Lincoln Continental from Still, the LC means Lucifer as Christ, marking Beth as the Light Bringer, the Morningstar in its Christ iteration?
As the seasons went by, I came to realize that the entanglement between Beth and Shane in reality was entanglement between Rick and Shane. Rick is the original Christ figure, the original Sirius figure, the original Morningstar. And the reason it comes across as though Beth’s tangled up in all of that, is because she’s so heavily paralleled with Rick. Whatever resurrection symbolism we've seen around Rick, we've also seen around her. And we've watched Rick "resurect" twice now, so...
We really saw this quite clearly in Slabtown, where Dawn, a Morningstar reference, was Shane to Beth’s Rick. Like Shane, she was a cop, her name indicates Morningstar symbolism, and she’s the reason Beth “died”, like Shane was the last one to see Rick before he "died" at the hospital.
Notice the scissors sticking out from Dawn's shoulder. That's another interesting exemple of the entanglement between Shane and Beth. As a weapon of choice when attemting to assert yourself in confrontation with someone carrying a gun, a tiny pair of scissors would probably be my last choice. Why did TPTB do Beth so dirty?
Because symbolism.
We all remember Beth sacrificing herself for Noah in Slabtown, right? He was injured, and much slower than her. He wasn't going to make it without her intenvening. And she did. But in doing so, she ended up trapped, while Noah escaped.
In 2x3, Shane was in a similar situation. Carl had been shot, he needed medicine, and Shane and Otis went out to find it. Inevitably, they ran into a walker horde, and Shane sacrificed Otis so he himself could get away. As he returned to the farm alone, he knew he had fundamentally changed. We get a scene where he shaves his hair off, and transforms into something Devil-like before our eyes. He went "full Shane", as became the meme around the fandom. It means he surrendered to and embraced the Devil side of his Lucifer properties.
And, I want to address the fact that what we see in 2x3, of Shane shooting Otis in the foot, effectively sacrificing him, was entirely told through flashbacks. Meaning, the actual events happened in the previous episode, which was…. Yep. 2x2. Another representation of the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism and the duality it entails. I’m side-eying that heavily.
We see Shane holding the clippers in his hand in this pic. The 22 necklace is also visible. There's a parallel to Beth here, hiding the scissors up her cast:
Her unconventional choice of weapon to bring to a gunfight is only sufficiently explained through symbolism. Clippers and scissors are tools used for similar tasks. Beth used them after sacrificing herself for Noah (for the second time, no less), Shane used them after having sacrificed Otis.
We also get this representation of the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism on the trunk of one of the Grady cars in 5x8 Coda, proving the symbolism around Shane's necklace extends beyond Shane himself. And again, remember this was introduced all the way back in season 1. The symbolism goes back to the very beginning.
We've also seen the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism several other times over the years, such as in 10x13 What We Become, which I've talked about here. Here we see a “22” next to a "11" or a "one one", as we remember from Noah's T-shirt.
Returning to the LC6M187 licence plate for a moment. In season 2 we see yet another one of these license plates on a Ford Mustang, in the exact same shade of yellow as Carols Jeep Cherokee and Beth’s yellow polo.
It’s the car where they end up leaving supplies and a note to Sophia, hoping she’ll return. She didn’t, but if she had managed to return to the Mustang with the supplies, they would have found her and she would have survived. The car provided an opportunity for survival had she managed to return to it. The symbolism of the license plate is still, as in 1x3 TITTF, one of death and resurrection.
The next time we see this license plate is in 3x15, when Merle sacrifices himself so that Michonne and TF can live. Remember we literally became aware of the LC6M187 license plate in 1x3 TITTF, as Daryl learned about Merle being left behind in Atlanta, and when they went looking for him, he was "just gone". Presumed dead, except he wasn't. He “resurrected” in season 3. It’s fitting that it also is a car with this particular license plate that takes him to his sacrificial death. Death and resurrection. Merle did something very Christ-like in his final moments. He sacrificed himself for his brother's new family.
The next time we see a representation of the symbolism of the LC6M187 license plate is in 4x12 Still. We see Beth and Daryl survive a walker horde by hiding in the trunk of a car, a Lincoln Continental. The LC6M187 licence plate itself doesn’t appear in this scene, but my hypothesis is that the LC of the license plates are direct references to this particular Lincoln Continental, and that it was established as resurrection symbolism all the way back in 1x3 TITTF, under showrunner Frank Darabont.
Then, we come across it again in 5x2 Strangers.
Carol is having second thoughts on just about anything. Daryl catches her attempting to leave in a car they discovered earlier that day. This one had a battery charger(!) in the trunk(!). And a very familiar license plate, LC6M187.
Remember, at this point, Beth is “just gone”. Then, suddenly a car with a white cross drives by. Daryl recognizes it as similar to the car that took Beth in 4x13 Alone. They follow the car to Atlanta.
The car they follow is actually Officer Licari’s Dodge Magnum. It is potentially the actual car Beth was left in after Coda. And interestingly, we see here both the XH6-S781 license plate and the LC6M187 license plate in the same scene for the first time since 1x3 TITTF. And Beth is right in the center of the symbolism, in a way that is impossible to disregard! That seems significant to me.
To my knowledge, we don’t ever see the LC6M187 license plate again, but we've had some references to it, such as from the season finale of season 1 of TWDDD. We see Carol in a blue Ford Mustang, with a license plate with the numbers 502, which obviously points to TWD 5x2, the exact episode when we last see the LC6M187 license plate. And when we last see it, it is when Daryl and Carol are following Officer Lichari’s Dodge Magnum to Atlanta. I’ve written about it here and here.
It’s interesting that we’ve had a few mustangs on the show, and it's interesting that they're all tied up in the symbolism around Beth.
But there was also another Mustang, one I haven't mentioned yet, Lucille's green(e) Ford Mustang from 10x22 Here’s Negan. The 22nd episode of season 10... it’s almost like it was foreshadowed by the Slabtown clock… Feel free to side-eye that, I know I do...
Yup, Negan’s wife Lucille drove a green Ford Mustang, and we did get a great look at the license plate
I’m not going to pretend I’ve got everything figured out in regards to these licence plates. I can offer suggestions and explain how I interpret them, but anybody's is guess is as good as mine.
But Lucille’s Mustang almost has got to be involved in the things I've discussed in this post. First, the names Lucifer and Lucille are closely related, they both refer to "light", in that they're both names that are derived from the Latin word for for light, "lux".
“Lucille" is derived from "Lucy/Lucia", patroness saint of the blind.
Again, Beth is right in the center of this symbolism:
Does the LC of the LC6M187 licence plate stand for Lucifer/Christ, essentially describing the duality of the symbolism that’s tied to both the Christ/Light Bringer and the Devil? Is it a metaphor for the duality of "death and resurrection", of light and darkness?
Rick as the Christ figure, Shane as the Devil.
Beth as the Christ figure, Dawn as the Devil?
On the license plate of Lucille's green Ford Mustang, we first see an X. It likely means “cross”, or Christ, or "resurrection"… or it could mean Roman Numeral 10, as in the season in which this episode occurred?
Then a "V"…
...which incidently is the 22nd letter of the alphabet. That's quite the coincidence, isn't it? In the 22nd episode of season 10... we see a "V" for Venus which is the 22nd letter of the alphabet? "V" for Venus, Morningstar, the 22nd letter, and seen on Shane's necklace? Remember that the Bible verse with the Morningstar reference was 22:16.
Then you see the “11”. Obviously, one interpretation is that it’s a reference to the “one one” on Noah’s t-shirt, or to episode 10x11 (10 - one one) Morningstar. Another could be that 1+1=2, and it refers to the second letter of the alphabet, B... for Beth?
Then there's the "44". Is it a reference to the comic book issue that revolves around Andrea, the Beth proxy, being shot? Or is it a representation of Daryl Dixon, in that D is the fourth letter in the alphabet, so that 44 = DD?
I can't say for sure, and I'm open to sugestions.

never watched iasip but i need convincing to watch it. sell it for me.
(I hope doing that is a big enough of a distraction)
this is a great distraction thank you!!! I have many talking points so Buckle Up.
(TL;DR: watch sunny, you won’t regret it! it’s super funny and has tons of amazing elements. 10/10 recommend)
1. GAY PEOPLE
since you are a community fan on tumblr I’m assuming you like trobed. that’s just math. so! I will introduce you to The Sunny Ship™: mac and dennis
I legitimately think they will become canon, and soon. (you might not know that sunny is Not over yet, they are still making seasons. there are 16 seasons right now (169 episodes) and I believe they’re renewed for at least 2 more seasons which is awesome.) anyway, as much as I love trobed, I do not think they will be confirmed romantically in the canon. I’m not sure I trust that to be written correctly anyway. (but that’s another conversation) the point is I Genuinely Believe that this one will happen. if you want more reasons I’m glad to provide but it would include some spoilers, and I’m not sure how okay you are with that, so I’m omitting my full reasoning. you just gotta trust me on this one lmao
besides that they’re just really entertaining to watch and their dynamic is genuinely so important to me. it is very different from trobed but it makes me equally feral 👍🏻
here’s some gifs and pictures to kind of introduce you to wtf I’m talking about. (keep in mind they are pathetic men that are like 26 in season 1 and like 46 in season 16)
2. characterization
even if that’s not your vibe there’s a ton else this show has to offer. just thought I’d start off with the gay people bc what is a sitcom without 2 codependent men?
sunny genuinely has great character work. even though the entire premise of the show is that the main characters are Terrible People (one of the original working titles for the show was literally just “Jerks”) they are genuinely great characters. the classic sitcom “funny on the outside but dig a little deeper and you uncover hella trauma and depth” which is awesome I love a sitcom that does that. all of the individual and group dynamics are amazing. obviously mac & dennis tend to stand out but all 5 members of the gang have very individualized relationships with each other, and their dynamic as a whole is so funny. they’re all generally horrible to each other but they really do mean the world to each other. it’s very “found family but they’re all literally the worst people you’ve ever met.” they cannot sustain relationships with anyone outside their own little group and I think that’s beautiful (it wouldn’t be, irl, obviously, but in a tv show it is so funny and awesome)
3. continuity
this one’s pretty short, but the continuity in this show is so awesome, which is pretty important to me. throughout all 16 seasons (and 18 years!) I can only think of a couple logistical continuity mistakes. other than that, the story stays straight, all their past anecdotes line up, and they reference the old episodes all the time. I love community but, in the continuity category, sunny reigns superior
4. RCG
the guys themselves!!! RCG (rob mcelhenney, charlie day, and glenn howerton) are the team that created sunny. they created the premise, adapted it for network tv, literally play the three main guys (mac mcdonald, charlie kelly, and dennis reynolds respectively), are VERY involved in the writing, editing, directing, etc of the show, and are constantly promoting it. they embody this show and they genuinely have So Much love for it.
they’ve been best friends for decades, and their bond really takes the show to the next level. all the dialogue is really natural, they have so much control over the show (as I said, being at least involved in, and oftentimes in charge of, the writing, directing, and editing), and you really can tell that they put their entire souls into making this show.
and they’re still making it, they’re still best friends, rob met his wife (kaitlin olsen, the woman who plays dee) through the show, their family members constantly make cameos, they take experiences from their actual lives and dramatize them for arcs in the show, they literally started a whole podcast where they talk about the show (and other things too), and… ugh. this show is so solidly theirs, and you can just really feel how real and raw it is. super un-commercialized, especially in the earlier seasons. it’s such a special vibe that a lot of tv shows just don’t have, and it’s super unique and cool and ugh. I love it. I love them
(they also hired megan ganz, who wrote for community, writes for and helped create mythic quest, along with a bunch of other stuff, during season 12. and she’s awesome. she is also on the sunny podcast with the three of them)
(oh yeah. idk if you’ve seen mythic quest, but rob mcelhenney plays ian grimm on that show, and also is one of the creators. charlie day also helped create mythic quest, but he hasn’t really been involved in it other than that.)
5. danny devito
self-explanatory. danny devito is on the show (starting s2ep1). what else do you need.
6. comedy gold
this might go without saying, as it is a sitcom, but this show is SO funny. all of the actors are so talented, the jokes are so well written, the deliveries are golden, the physical comedy is great, and so much more. I’m going to put some screencaps of popular memes you might have seen around that originated from this show to give you some idea of its comedic impact
there’s obviously hundreds of other amazing lines but I can’t very well list Everything right here right now, but. the point is there’s a lot of really good stuff.
7. neurodivergent-coded
another sitcom staple! except this one is pretty special, in that RCG are all neurodivergent. we don’t know rob and charlie’s specific diagnoses, but we know that glenn has adhd (recently diagnosed), and has talked about mania and depression before. rob recently said he has “been diagnosed with multiple neurodevelopmental disorders” but hasn’t clarified yet. charlie has just casually mentioned being neurodivergent. but, anyway. I’m not sure their projected neurodivergence onto the show is noticable to the untrained (neurotypical) eye, but as an autistic person I can definitely see it lmao. also, a lot of the fans agree that dennis and charlie are both on the spectrum, with a lot of other fans headcannoning the entire gang as autistic, which is awesome. dennis has also canonically been diagnosed with BPD.
if you’re interested, here’s a silly youtube video with a bunch of autistic coded moments from the show lmao. it’s kind of long but it’s very entertaining to me
final thoughts & disclaimers
but yeah! hope you enjoyed this unnecessarily long post. I did want to say a couple more things real quick:
1. if you want to give the show a shot without fully committing, I suggest you start with season 5. this is a rob mcelhenney-approved gateway, it’s a really great season, s5ep1 is a great episode to start off with, and it works relatively well out of context.
2. season 1 is my second to least favorite season. it is only 7 episodes long, but just keep that in mind. it’s general regarded as one of the worse seasons. if you want to start with season 1 that’s fine, it’s still good and I do genuinely enjoy it, but just keep that in mind. it only gets better
3. this is a very explicit show! it is rated tv-ma and is significantly more risque than community. there are also a lot of really offensive jokes (s3ep9 is basically unwatchable for me) but this goes along with the premise that the characters are genuinely bad people. the comedy theoretically comes from the ridiculousness of how out of touch the characters are, and I think it really does land about 95% of the time. some of the topics they joke about probably could have been approached with a bit more grace than RCG granted them, (there are five episodes that were removed from hulu because of use of blackface. yikes) but the show is meant to be blunt, extremely unserious, and somewhat cynical. it gets better with this stuff as it goes on, and it did start in 2005, so yeah. there’s just some stuff you have to take with a grain of salt I guess. RCG have grown a lot since 2005.
anyway! I genuiely love this show more and more each time I watch it. it just gets funnier and funnier, and listening to the sunny podcast, and watching the special features on the dvds my dad got me for my birthday (lmao), has just been so much fun. a ton of fuel for a great hyperfixation.
if you have any other questions let me know! I’m always down to talk, my dms are open etc etc. sorry for the literal essay but this has been a great distraction from the end-of-semester Bad Feelings, so thank you!
if you do end up watching let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, if you decide to watch. have a great one and thanks for reading 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
#jesus christ I did NOT plan to write this much#oh well haha 😀#this goes out to any of my community followers who might be interested in watching sunny#give it a chance you will NOT regret it!!!#it’s always sunny in phildelphia#iasip
