DPXDC prompt #20
Phantom, a popular small town hero, appear out of nowhere in metropolis and go on a date with Superman, using hero gig, and at the end of their date Phantom give Supers a kiss that end up in the news.
We see a lot of prompts about Danny being paired with a member of the batfamily and even a few with John Constantine, but I raise you this.

Danny has been out of the hero game for a while now.
You see, when clockwork reset the timeline to one where the disastroid didn't happen Danny made it his mission to quit the job for good. This involved forming an actual defense from Ghost invasions (though he's sure his parents loved testing out what the magic community likes to call "An awful combination of sentience and technology.") and also giving rights to ghosts. Hell, even Vlad's started to come around. The old fruit loop actually changed his ways and is setting him up to the heir to DALV.co while trying to fix the shit they did to the environment when doing trial runs of Val's suit.
(Mostly because sam threatened to break Vlad's knees, both of the halfas think she could do it.)
He finally do what wants with his life and satisfy his obsessions with space and protection. Danny's got all sorts of projects he's tinkering on like air purifiers and growing food in space. He's been just, doing his thing for so long that his powers had gone into a kind of reserve mode. Danny's strength and speed are back to just above average, his ice only good for ice cubes and being a human AC, can't even feel ghostly presence if it's not right on top of him.
But Danny is actually happy.
Or he would be if not for Lex Luthor. He hates that vindictive, capitalist egg. The male pattern baldness horror story managed to weasel his way into a partnership with Vlad when he was still trying to put the (now reformed) GIW on his leash.
The first time Danny met the man his hair nearly turned all white, literally. He's lucky Lex was more interested in Vlad, his investment partner than him otherwise he'd have seen. He wouldn't have been that mad if not for Lex's pocket full of (condensed mass of kryptoian suffering.) kryptonite, and his kryptonian clone? who kept eyeing that pocket. Kon was the kids name BTW, also he DEFINITELY saw Danny's hair change.
Now he has to deal with the pair every other week, one reason being Lex is not so subtly trying to get his hands on some ectoplasmic generator schematics. The other is that Kon is helping him catch Luthor before he does.

Phantom Lane
Danny Phantom and Lois Lane are an under utilized combo.
One of Lane's sources in a story she was following comes to her with a tip that LexCorp has found a new, and steady source of kyrptonite. Well there's nothing else for her to do but to go the source, one Amity Park- smackdab in the middle of nowheresville.
"No Clark you have your own story and I don't need my partner with me 24/7. Go work on your mysterious expose on the lead levels in underprivileged metropolis neighborhoods."
Only when she finally gets there, after a very uncomfortable flight, in an actual plane for once, she's not a fan. She finds a very confusing situation.
LexCorp employees seem to be disguising themselves by dressing in white and pretending to be government employees, already a story. But they are using this "disguise" to abduct what look like ghosts?
"No Perry I'm not saying ghosts are real, what do you take me for, Clark? No, I'm saying that Superman is an alien so it's not such a reach that these beings are as well. And well, if they are ghosts, then I'm going to be the one to break the story that ghosts are REAL"
So she's going around interviewing the "concerned citizens, once a terrified town now a collection of people just trying to go about their day in this strange new normal." It makes a good line but really that is the vibe she gets. There's ghostly updates along with the weather (and a Fenton? driving update??) but most everyone seems to be fine with working around the occasional ghostly drama.
Her pizza is delivered in a bowl.
Her main sources end up being very convenient for her, at least in terms of location. It's important to be unbiased so she finds sources willing to talk to her with opinions across the spectrum. Including, two doctors Fenton - negative, one Danny Fenton (son of the doctors and without a named credit to protect privacy) - positive, one English teacher - neutral. Danny Fenton is also able to point her towards one Valerie Gray (no comment) who is able to get her in contact with the most commonly seen "ghost" in the town.
"Your name is Phantom correct? Is that how you would prefer to be addressed? A little on the nose considering your alleged ghostly nature, no?"
"So your claim is that Kryptonite is a byproduct of ectoplasm, something that makes sense when you believe in ghosts, which apparently I do now. Although I will need independent verification of course.
"But you're saying that when ectoplasm crystalizes it becomes what is commonly known as kryptonite, something that is famously toxic to Kryptonians. How exactly did these "Guys In White" come to learn and harvest this dangerous material. And less important but confusing to me personally, how can a material that has been proven to be sourced from astroids be supernatural in origin?
"Right, death of a planet imprinting on ectoplasm, no makes total sense."
She leaves Amity Park with enough material to write three separate articles, four bruised ribs from a particularly violent escape from alphabetically challenged weirdos, four new sources to draw upon for said articles, two new superhero contacts, and a new found respect for rectangular shapes.
She is going to get some scientists from Star Labs down here to get a tertiary verification and then she is going to write the biggest article since the introduction of Superman.
And Clark can be jealous since he may have gotten the Superman Saves Metropolis from Raging Wildfires story but she's going to take down a pseudo-government agency, announce the existence of ghosts, AND open up extraterrestrial relations all with one article.
Beat that sweetheart

“Well of course there’s the basic power set that almost the entire species has, y’know, flight, invisibility, intangibility, being able to sense when another one of our species is near, enchanted strength and hearing, an incredibly fast healing factor to anything injuries not made by our own species or specifically made to harm us, being able to speak and understand ghost speak and any other dead languages, not needing to breathe and in most cases (but not mine) this applies to most other human needs. And then there are the more unique powers which I have and (depending on the power) others have too, like being able to withstand sub-zero temperatures, ectoblasts, ice, telekinesis, ghostly wail, being able to open portals to the infinite realms, basic shapeshifting or at least being able to change my body proportions and bones- you look scared, do, do you want me to keep going?”
“”
“What?”
“Dude, that is like, Kryptonian levels of power.”
“More actually, we did a test.”
“You’ve fought Superman?!”
“There was a brief incident with Pariah Dark. Superman lost the incident.”
“But you said that Pariah Dark was the ghost king so that isn’t fair for the entire species let alone you right, you said you were the equivalent of a newborn in age standards.”
“I beat Pariah Dark.”
“You are a scary level of powerful.”

I feel like the fact that Superman is thinking of Danny as only a 'test dummy' and 'it' says an awful lot about where he is in his personal growth journey here.
Someone points that and says, "You aren't giving either of them much reason to think better of you," and that's where Clark gets to grapple with that.
As for Conner's Kryptonian name; feel like Danny would call him something that translates to "blessing/gift of the house El" or something along those lines. (IDK how much of the language is actually established in canon, so IDK if there's already a word for blessing/gift or if we need to invent one for this.)
Is Danny Dan-El or something else? Did he name himself? Or did Conner name him?
Like Conner, Danny was a clone of Superman. However unlike Conner, Danny was not designed to replace him. Instead he was created as a test dummy. Day in and day out, he was subjected to various injections, toxins and experiments. All for the purpose of one day using them on the real deal. Danny quickly lost track of the days and the pain as he slipped into mental oblivion. That is until one day, his brother comes busting through a wall.

The Dan-Tastic Disaster
When the JL is stuck on babysitting duty until Danny shows up
———
It started like any other Justice League meeting, with Batman brooding in the corner, Superman standing confidently at the head of the table, and Wonder Woman calmly preparing for the mission briefing. What none of them expected was to be dealing with a de-aged, ghostly child with the potential to end worlds.
"Are you sure this is safe?" Superman asked, glancing down at the toddler perched on the conference table, currently gnawing on a metal batarang like it was a teething ring.
"Safe?" Batman muttered, rubbing his temples. "No. Manageable? Hopefully."
Dan Phantom—or what was left of him in his current toddler form—looked innocent enough at first glance. Bright green eyes, tiny fists gripping onto Batman’s cape like a security blanket, a cute little tuft of white hair curling above his head. But the Justice League had been briefed on his true nature. He was Danny Phantom’s evil future self, de-aged through some cosmic mishap. And now, thanks to fate or terrible luck, they were babysitting.
"Up! Up!" Dan suddenly demanded, lifting his tiny hands towards Superman.
Superman, always the gentle giant, smiled softly. “Okay, little guy. Let’s—OW!”
The moment Superman picked him up, Dan burst into green flames, scorching Superman's red cape and singeing his hair. The Kryptonian tried to gently pat out the fire, but Dan just giggled mischievously and floated upwards, still burning, as Superman’s cape disintegrated into ashes.
“I’ll just… get another cape,” Superman mumbled, resigned.
Wonder Woman knelt down, observing the floating toddler with the curiosity of someone about to embark on an epic quest. “He reminds me of the young warriors of Themyscira,” she said, a glimmer of fondness in her eyes. “Strong, brave, and full of fire.” Literally.
She offered him a soft smile. “Little one, let me tell you a tale from my youth, of the Amazons and their triumph over the beasts of the land.”
Dan floated down toward her, his eyes glowing with interest for all of three seconds before he grabbed her lasso and swung from it like a child on a tire swing. "Wheeeeee!"
Wonder Woman blinked. “He is… very enthusiastic.”
Meanwhile, Batman was in the corner, already furiously texting Danny Phantom on his encrypted Bat-phone. URGENT: Toddler version of evil future self setting things on fire. Please advise.
Danny’s response pinged back almost immediately: Good luck! Don’t let him touch anything sharp or made of explosives. Be there soon-ish.
Batman scowled at the "soon-ish." The last thing they needed was “soon-ish.” They needed now.
"Uh, Bruce," Superman said, nervously eyeing Dan, who had now decided that the perfect place to hide was inside a control panel. "He’s touching the lasers."
Batman swiveled around just in time to see the Watchtower's interior light up in bright neon green flashes. Every screen blinked with static, and the alarm system activated. Dan was just... pressing buttons. Randomly. While humming a tune and still floating lazily around, now wearing Wonder Woman’s tiara on his head.
"Dan," Batman said in the tone reserved for criminals, children, and now, apparently, demonic ghost toddlers. "Get out of there."
Dan paused, looking Batman straight in the eye, and gave the kind of evil grin only a future supervillain could pull off. He slammed his tiny fist into the panel, causing every door in the Watchtower to open and close in a chaotic frenzy. Somewhere, the coffee machine exploded.
“Great Hera,” Wonder Woman murmured, eyeing the scene with wide-eyed awe. “He is... relentless.”
“He’s a menace,” Batman grumbled, already trying to recalibrate the systems on his wrist computer.
Superman, ever the optimist, decided to take a different approach. "Dan, how about we go play somewhere that isn’t full of very important and dangerous equipment?"
Dan looked at Superman for a long moment, then reached out and ignited Superman’s other cape. Superman sighed. “I don’t know why I thought that would work.”
Before Batman could further escalate into his “silent looming” tactic (which, thus far, had only led to Dan giggling and calling him “funny bat man”), Danny Phantom finally phased through the wall. He was panting, his hair tousled, clearly in a hurry.
“Sorry! Sorry!” Danny said, hands up. “I had to deal with this whole thing with the Ghost Zone and—oh, wow. He’s already set things on fire? That was fast.”
Batman gave him a look. The kind that promised revenge if Danny didn’t take care of this immediately.
“Oh yeah, he’s... a handful,” Danny said, scooping up the toddler, who immediately stopped causing chaos and instead tugged at Danny’s hoodie. “I told Clockwork it was a bad idea to leave him with you guys, but you know how he is.”
Batman raised an eyebrow. “You’re telling me Clockwork is responsible for this?”
“Yeah,” Danny replied, casually flipping Dan upside down, which somehow made the toddler laugh instead of scream. “Said it would ‘build character’ or something. No idea what that means.”
Wonder Woman glanced between the now-quiet Dan and the previously-chaotic Watchtower, eyebrow raised. “And what, exactly, are we meant to learn from this?”
Danny shrugged, adjusting Dan like a backpack. “Patience? Endurance? Definitely not fire safety, though.”
Superman, cape now a pile of ash on the floor, simply chuckled. “Well, it was... eventful.”
“I’m just glad the Watchtower is still standing,” Batman muttered, already mentally drafting the report about the damage.
Danny grinned, patting Batman on the back. “You did great! You didn’t even let him explode anything. That’s a win in my book.”
As Danny started phasing through the walls with a happy toddler on his back, Wonder Woman watched them go, a soft smile on her face. “He truly has a way with him, doesn’t he?”
Superman nodded, glancing down at the remains of his cape. “Yeah. But next time, he’s babysitting.”
Batman, deadpan as ever, just sighed. "There won't be a next time."

DPXDC prompt. Ghost King uses Uno Reverse Card
Ghosts are not a race of evil creatures that most people think they are. And Danny was really happy when the Infinite Realms were able to make peace treaties with most countries of the human world. Ghosts, however, are a very vindictive race. At least that’s how young Phantom explained himself to Batman afterwards.
It just so happens that a couple of hours before the event aimed at expanding intergalactic unions most of the JLeague members due to an emergency call went on a mission. Which means people who had any authority in Phantom’s eyes became unavailable for a while.
So Shazam and Phantom as the most known outside the Earth were assigned to greet the guests and most importantly to entertain the visitors until the founders of JL return.
According to Phantom, Batman, being such a good detective with a bunch of backup plans, should have known that Danny’s favorite cereal ran out this morning, that he was late for first class, and that after school he had a fight with his parents. No, seriously, aren’t so-called scientists supposed to be able to admit mistakes in their own judgment? Danny got tired of being constantly ashamed of their behavior near other ghosts. It's bad enough that his authority as a ruler is sustained only by the support of those Ancients with whom he maintains friendly relations. Average citizens still doubt that he is a is sufficient to claim the throne. He’s had enough of being accused of not being a full-fledged ghost.  He’s not ready to hear rumors that he supports his parents' racist judgments too. In short, his day sucked. And all his ghostly nature now wanted to do something nasty to his neighbors to get rid of the tension.
Alien leader stretched out a hand to Phantom and Shazam. “Your Majesty Phantom, Champion of Magic. It’s an honor to meet you. I hope I learned the proper greeting gesture of the local intelligent race.”
And with that Danny’s reserve of conscience ran out. It’s a perfect moment to feed his need to be a little shit.
“The local intelligent race?’ Danny had this extreme bewilderment on his face. “Which one do you think..? Earth was the home of the Gods and of various inhabitants of the galaxy but it was a long time ago.”
Woman is clearly confused. Great. “E-Earthers. I think they’re called that.”
“Earthlings, intelligent race? You must be mistaken.” Danny faked a giggle. “Who told you that crap?”
“Phantom, what are you doing?” Batman hissed at him from an earpiece. Danny turned the sound off with a clear conscience. “I mean, seriously, there’s not a single serious study in the science library in this galaxy or any other galaxy that says humans are intelligent. Shazam, do you think they’re..?”
For some reason, Billy immediately remembered watching a man spend his entire salary on lottery tickets last week. And of course he was careless enough to shake his head and snort. That was all Phantom needed.
“Exactly. Earthlings don’t have to be intelligent to mimic the behavior of more evolved species. Surely you are well aware that Martians and Kryptonians, and many others have visited Earth at different stages of human development. My supervisor Clockwork and I have long been observing this strange species. In many ways, their behavior resembles a mixture of instinctive reactions of specimens from the 126 sectors of the nearest SBc Galaxy and several other creatures from planets of the galaxy KV59. However, even I, as an anthropologist with extensive experience of observing human species in their natural habitat, still have to explore and discover many of their secrets.”
“I do not understand. According to the documents among the delegation that greets us there are Earthlings. I mean I don’t question the scientific evidence of a respected Chronos or you, but why then..”
“Of course you don’t! It’s really quite simple. For the purity of the clinical experiment, which we are conducting now, it is necessary that Earthlings feel themselves ostensibly full participants of the «society» consisting of members with developed intelligence.”
“So, any luck, colleague?” Shazam, who realized that Batman would now skin them anyway, decided to at least participate in this theater so that the punishment would be at least deserved.
“Well, we’ve certainly come up with some interesting preliminary insights about the adaptive capacity of the human brain in limited contact with Martians. Of course, humans do not have real emotions to be full participants in communication, but their attempts and zeal are very inspiring.”
~~~~~
Meanwhile, Fentons watching a live broadcast of what was supposed to be an interplanetary friendship encounter are beginning to realize that if trying to punish a rebellious human teenager has always been difficult for them, the attempt to control the behavior of the 14 y/o half-ghost may become a nightmare not only for them.
Jack: Honey, I think Danny’s still a little upset about our old theories about the ability of ghosts to feel or think.
Jazz, sitting between them with the face of a man resigned to the chaos around her, could not restrain the sarcasm: Really? Why would you think that?
11. Emerald
That was when she saw it, faint flashes of emerald in the dark. Kara sucked in a sharp breath as she tensed. Green was the danger color. It was the pain color, the burning color, the hue of agonizing death. Even a brief flash of an unelected green glow set her nerves ablaze.
The flash was brief, there and gone.
“Kara, wait for the team.”
She tapped the comm bead in her ear. “I don’t need a team for this.”
She scanned the area with her Kryptonian sight, first x-ray then infrared, and found only the outlines of crates and old junk. No heat. No heartbeat. No threat.
Why did villains always set up in abandoned warehouses? Why not a nice downtown coffee shop? Or a movie theater?
She should count her blessings. She could be the Batman, creeping through an abandoned amusement park looking for a psychotic clown. Clark had remarked to her that Gotham had a lot of abandoned theme parks for some reason, and abandoned comedy clubs. It was almost too convenient.
Something creaked to her left and she stopped.
“This thing is dangerous, Kara. There’s been three bodies found already.”
Kara knew all that. Three victims, all drained dry and desiccated, so bereft of moisture that they cracked and crumbled when moved. The life sucked right out of them.
She knew something else: All three had been killed in front of witnesses who said the night came alive and took them… while the dead men were in the process of robbing and assaulting the witnesses.
“I’m not going to have a murderous vigilante in my town.”
“I’m not a vigilante”, a soft voice purred. “But a girl’s got to eat.”
Kara spun, scanning the warehouse. There was no one with her.
A soft scuff on the concrete behind her. She turned, throwing back her cape and raising her fists.
“Where are you?”
“Here,” the voice murmured in her ear.
Kara yelped spun, but there was no one there.
“Kara, pull back. Pull out!” Alex snapped.
“Mmmm, Kara. Ka-ra. A pretty name.”
“Show yourself!”
Kara wheeled and found the creature right in front other, inches away, grinning broadly and baring sharp fangs. Kara recoiled, dancing back a few paces, fists raised.
It was a woman, sleek and slim and dressed in a slick black suit with a black lace blouse and a choker of black diamonds around her throat. Her skin was ghostly pale and dark hair fell down her back in wages past her waist, fanned out over her shoulders. Cold emerald eyes fixed Kara to the spot, the woman’s gaze carrying an almost physical force.
“Uh,” Kara said. “Alex?”
“No, I’m Lena.”
Kara squared up. “Are you the one killing those people?”
“I’m the one taking out the trash. Is that a problem for you?”
“Yeah,” Kara snarled, “it is.”
She hesitated. This woman, this creature, had no body heat. No heartbeat. When Kara used her x-ray vision, looking for weapons or gimmicks, she saw the woman just standing there in the pale transparent world of Kara’s super sight, as if the x-rays bent around her.
“What’s the matter, stud? Come teach me a lesson.”
“You asked for it.”
Kara lunged, and her hands closed on empty air. The woman was suddenly behind her, hands on her shoulders and lips pressed to her ear.
“Too slow. Catch me if you can.”
Kara whirled, grabbing at her, but she moved so fast she blurred. It was as if she knew where Kara would move before she did.
“Hold still!” Kara snapped, fighting the rising panic twisting in her belly.”
“Kara,” Alex said, “get out of there! You’re outmatched, we need a plan.”
“She’s right.”
Another whisper in her ear. This time as Kara turned and throw a roundhouse punch the woman stood there grinning, and Kara almost pulled her blow, but when her fist was just about to connect her target simply melted, swirling into a pillar of mist that held together for a brief moment before exploding in every direction and surrounding her.
She suddenly felt surrounded, a pressure coming from every direction, and a wild surge of claustrophobic panic burst like a firebox in her chest and she cried out in shock and terror, falling wildly.
A body pressed against her from behind and hands seized her wrists. The strength that resisted her twisting attempt to escape shocked her, and then came the pain. Quick and sharp, she felt pressure on her throat before the pain as twin points lanced into her flesh.
Kara screamed, then her voice softened and collapsed into shocked moan as an ecstatic heat spread from her throat through her entire body, tingling under her skin. Her eyes grew lidded and she writhed it spread through her.
Her head lolled and she passed out.
With a jolt, Kara snapped awake. She immediately tried to rise from where she lay, but found herself weighed down by heavy chains at her wrists and ankles.
A cold but soft hand curled around her chin and this Lena filled her vision, arching down over her from where she sat straddling Kara’s hips. Her grip was gentle but shockingly strong.
“My, aren’t you a pretty little thing.”
Kara yanked hard at the chains, but they clanked and pulled at her wrists and impossibly held.
“Now now, none of that.”
Looking around, Kara frantically sought the source of her weakness- Kryptonite, a red light source, something she could attack.
“Those chains are nth metal, and there’s a sorcerous circle binding you beneath the bed.”
She was in a bedroom, lying on a four poster bed, chained down with her captor sitting in her lap, pressing her thighs against Kara’s hips.
She ran her hands up Kara’s flanks, feeling the muscles beneath the tight fabric.
“My my my, you are delicious, pet. Let me go.”
“I think not.”
“Are you going to drain me, too?”
Lena flipped down on top of her, resting her head on Kara’s shoulder. She smelled cold, somehow, like the faint scent of embers and falling leaves on an autumn night. She smiled with her soft pink lips and her emerald eyes blazed.
“I could,” she murmured. “It’s hard not to. You are the sweetest prey I’ve ever sampled, and your blood sings in me. A taste of honey is worse than none at all.”
Kara ignored the feeling of this person lying on top of her, one long leg still thrown across her belly, calf hooked around her hip. She was stroking lazy circles over the crest on Kara’s uniform, sharp nails teasing her through the fabric. She could have shredded it if she wanted, and liked the flesh too.
“You’ll never admit it, but I can feel how much you like being overwhelmed. Don’t you?”
Kara ground her teeth. “No.”
Lena smiled again. “Isn’t it hard, being Supergirl? Being so tough all the time, always swaggering around with your hands on your hips? Doesn’t part of you want to relax? Let someone else take charge?”
“What the hell do you want?”
Lena sighed dramatically and rolled off her, and her absence was near painful. She had to be using some trick, trying to control her. Kara had to stop herself from whimpering when Lena laid on the bed beside her, head propped on her hand.
“Can’t I just want to admire you and those beautiful muscles of yours?”
“Let. Me. Go.”
“Maybe. Hear me out.”
“No.”
“I need your help.”
“You could have just asked.”
“You wouldn’t listen. Besides, where’s the fun in that?”
“Fine,” Kara huffed, staring up at the tin ceiling. “What do you want?”
“There is a master vampire, far more powerful and deadly than I am, and far older. He plans to poison the sun and free all vampires from the tyranny of daylight. He’ll declare himself an emperor and rule your world.”
“The hell he will. I’ll stop him, with Superman.”
The vampire laughed, a soft, sad chuckle.
“Oh, darling. Your cousin won’t be of any help to us.”
“Us?”
“You and me.”
“There is no us.”
“Dumping me on the first date, love?”
Kara rolled her eyes.
“Clark isn’t going to help us, Kara,” said the vampire.
Kara’s head shot up. “What? What did you say?”
She smiled.
“The master vampire has already made your cousin his thrall, love.”
“Who… who is this guy?”
“We both have so many names, but you know him as Lex. Lex Luthor.”
“What?!”
Lena moved closer, her stunning green eyes full of genuine fear.
“He sent me here to enthrall you. You’re the only chance I have. Please, I’m begging you. He’s a monster. A world under his rule will be an absolute nightmare. Unless you want to end up chained to his throne as a trophy you have to help me.”
There was either genuine fear in her voice, or she was excellent at faking it. Kara couldn’t rely on her super-senses.
Her jaw clenched.
“Let me go. No more tricks, no more games. Let me up and we’ll talk.”
Lena snapped her fingers and the bonds fell from Kara’s wrists.
“Done.”
Kara lunged across the bed and twisted, pinning her down.
“My turn,” Kara said, her eyes blazing with red sun fury. “Don’t test me.”
“Oh darling,” Lena purred. “You are delightful. I could get used to this.”
“Stop that,” Kara snarled.
Lena licked her lips, pale pink tongue flashing.
“Alright. Okay. I’ll be serious. We have to kill him. We have to kill him before he ends everything.”
“I don’t kill. I swore an oath.”
“Well, that’s inconvenient.”
Kara huffed.
“Fine. We can still defeat him. I think you and I could take over the world.”
“There is no you and I. I’ll help you and then you’ll answer for what you did.”
“I told you, a girl’s gotta eat.”
“Lena!”
“Oh, I like that. Say my name.”
“Le- No!”
Lena sighed, and ground herself up against Kara.
“I mean it. Stop that.”
Lena swallowed, pale throat bobbing. She fixed Kara with her piercing green eyes.
“I didn’t ask to be a monster. I wasn’t given a choice. I was forced.”
Kara felt a twist in her stomach, cold and brittle. She drew back her hands and freed Lena, stepping back off the bed.
“I’ll help you, but I have conditions. They’re non-negotiable.”
“And they are?”
“No more killing.”
Lena rolled her eyes.
“We agree on everything we do first. Don’t lay a hand on me without my permission again.”
A soft smile curled her lips. “Affirmative.”
Kara crossed her arms. Lena was openly admiring her, eyes roaming up and down her frame.
“Stop looking at me like I’m your next meal.”
“But darling, it’s not my fault that you look good enough to eat. Shall we get to it, then?”
Kara sighed. “Yes.”
“A Super and a Vampire, taking on the world. We just might survive.”
Here have another dc x dp Super Serious Chaos snippet I remembered about lol
As always feel free to take this as a (too long) prompt if anyone is interested 😄
---
Ghosts and Kryptonians, as it turned out, had a bit of overlap when it came to biology.
Not much, admittedly, considering that ghost biology was largely…made up, as best as any of the League’s medical staff could figure and as best as the Yetis could explain. They were usually human shaped - at least those that had been human in life were usually human shaped - but they were made entirely out of ectoplasm, a highly mutable substance that could appear incredibly unpredictable in how it behaved if you weren’t intimately familiar with how it worked. A ghost’s biology, as much as it could be called, depended entirely on the ghost, what they thought their biology should be and how they felt at any given point of time.
Still, there were some things that were more or less standard that were familiar enough. Super strength and speed, heightened senses, flight. Fangs too, though those tend to vary a great deal more in size when it came to ghosts compared to Kryptonians. Most interesting of all though - at least as far as Jon was concerned at the moment - was the fact that like Kryptonians, ghosts could purr.
And they used their purring in much the same way as Kryptonians. Self-soothing, encouraging healing, expressing happiness or - as the case might be in the here and now - bonding.
That’s what Danny had said was the point of this purring when he’d shown up and taken stock of the situation. Elle, out of her mind on some weird strain of supernatural flower thanks to some demon deciding to try and drug her into compliance and marry her - gross, Jon was glad it had been torn to shreds, he was kinda disappointed he didn’t get to help really - was reduced entirely to very basic ghostly instincts. She’d lost human speech, lost understanding of the world around her, and lost grip on who she was. Something that could have been incredibly dangerous - and had been for the dumbass demon that had orchestrated the whole scheme, Elle had eviscerated it with a viciousness that threatened to awaken something in him if he thought about it too much - though thankfully for them Elle had some semblance of recognition of who they were.
Well. Some of them, at least.
She’d very much had not seemed aware of who most of the Justice League members that responded to the situation were and had been just as intent on doing to them what she’d done to the demon. Jon and Damian were for sure going to get a lecture later on it, but them jumping in between their out of control friend and the others had been the right call. They knew how she fought better than anyone, knew how to counter her without hurting her and how to use her own overwhelming strength and power against her if need be.
Besides, they knew Elle.
They trusted her. Even as she lost semblance of her form and started looking more like…well okay Jon couldn’t really say what Elle looked like at the time. Damian called it eldritch and Jon can’t help but agree that it was the right word for it. Looking at her straight on for too long while she’d been in attack mode hurt and his brain sort of just…slid off any attempts to describe just what he was seeing when he looked at her. So eldritch seemed the right fit, even if he felt a bit bad having to describe her as such. Elle hated Lovecraft with a fiery passion, she’d despise knowing that anything associated with him was applied to her.
Jon was getting distracted. The point was, even if Elle was reduced to base ghostly instincts and acting aggressive and trying to eat Green Lantern, Jon and D knew that she’d never hurt them. And for the record they’d been right!
She’d frozen in the air as they dove in front of GL and into her line of sight, furious screeching going quiet and form settling back down into a more familiar - and comprehensible - shape and let loose a series of chirps and trills and whistling notes. And while no one could understand exactly what they meant, Jon and Damian could feel the emotions she put into the sounds. Happiness and relief and safe-safe-safe that made them realize that some of her aggression must have been from thinking that something had happened to them.
The next thing either of them had known they were wrapped up in a whole lot of Elle - body significantly more human-shaped, though still a bit indistinct when it came to her features - as she gave low rumbling purrs. She wouldn’t let anyone else near them - hissing and growling warningly in ways that made ears bleed when his dad and Bruce tried to creep closer, pulling him and D behind her protectively - but she was at least content to not attack anyone so long as no one got too close.
“It should wear off in about a week.” Danny said, butting his head like a cat against Elle’s as he checked on them. Elle recognized her father as she had Jon and Damian and had been fine letting him close, though notable did not try and pull him in on their impromptu cuddle session. “Probably less if we can get her back to her Lair in the Zone. Having outsiders near her Grave after fighting off an enemy is probably making things worse.”
Danny drifted back towards where the League was awkwardly huddled at a safe distance, giving a comforting trill when Elle’s purring stopped and she gave a nervous little chirp. She clung to Jon and Damian a little tighter from where she’d wrapped her wispy tail around them, glowing green eyes locked on the League suspiciously, but she stayed where she was. Jon purred himself, trying to match the low frequency she’d been using earlier to draw her attention back to them and keep her calm. Damian, unable to purr but undeterred by the limitation of human vocal chords, hummed softly as well. Elle gave an adorable little mrrp and pulled them even closer to her, nuzzling beneath each of their chins in turn, purr starting back up again.
“I was under the impression Phantasma wasn’t dead in the…traditional way.” Jon’s dad said, face pinching in concern. “Or that her grave would be near…” He motioned to the dark cave around them, lit only by literal hellfire in shades of red and orange. They were roughly a fifty miles from any kind of civilization, in some mountainous location in Europe. Possibly Finland? Jon hadn’t been paying much attention outside of following Elle’s distress beacon as quickly as possible without the wind speed suffocating Damian in the process.
Danny shook his head. “Oh she’s not. She’s Mirrorborn.” He waved a hand blandly, unaware or ignoring the League’s confusion at the term, “I don’t mean that kind of grave. I mean her Grave, capital ‘G’ and all. It’s like, hmm,” He paused, looking considering before offering, “I guess the closest thing might be like a pack? Like wolves, sorta. She’s in my Grave, since I’m her Reflected.” Danny motioned towards where Elle was now happily purring again, running her very sharp - and disturbingly longer than usual - clawed fingers through his and Damian’s hair. It was soothing, even with the vague notion that he should be worried about getting sliced to bits lazily popping up at the back of Jon’s mind. “But she’s old enough to go out and make a Grave of her own, and she’s claimed those two as part of it.”
“Claimed?” Bruce asked, voice lower than usual and definitely more dangerous. He hadn’t looked away from them the entire time, even when Danny showed up.
The older ghost gave a reassuring smile, “It sounds way more possessive than it is. It just means that her Core recognizes them as people she cares about a lot.” He glanced over towards them again expression going soft and fond. “The claiming is less a mark of ownership and more of like a ‘Back off’ sign for anyone who might try and fuck with them.”
Danny waved a hand in their direction again, “It’s what she’s doing now with all the cuddling. There was danger and she couldn’t find her Grave, so she panicked and lashed out. When they showed up she went into protection mode, it’s why she won’t let you near.” He glanced over to make sure the League understood, at their various nods he continued, “The cuddling is partially letting her know their safe, but it’s also making sure they’re absolutely covered with her ecto-signature so that anything that can sense it thinks twice before trying to go after them.” Danny’s grin went cheeky, “She’s basically giving them the Infinite Realm’s version of Scary Dog privileges. There’s not much in the Zone that’d be willing to fuck with the Grave of someone in our family.”
“Hn.” Bruce said, though Jon could see that some of the sharpness had left the line of his shoulders. “She doesn’t recognize us as members of her Grave?”
Danny shrugged. “Don’t take it personally. She likes you guys a lot - you’d probably be dead right now if she didn’t, even with those two keeping her calm - but there’s a difference from being friends with someone and having them as part of your Grave.”
No one looked terribly reassured.
Possibly due to the implication that Elle could kill them all more than the idea that she’d try while in such an altered state. And probably Jon should be worried about that too, but it wasn’t all that much of a surprise, really. He’d seen Elle beat Damian at Go before. They were usually tied 50/50 these days. If she could do that, there really was no hope for the Justice League - even his Dad, though he probably shouldn’t say that out loud.
Oh well. Point was, Damian absolutely could destroy the entire Justice League - Kryptonians and all - probably without even lifting a finger if he really put his mind to it and Elle was just as brilliant when it came to wily plays and unbeatable strategies and overwhelming force.
Okay so he might, a little bit, be totally in love with the both of them and believe they were the single most impressive and unstoppable people in the universe. That had no baring on his estimation on their abilities to take over the world if they ever decided they wanted to. It did, admittedly, probably skew his thoughts on if they ever would try their hands at world domination, but only a little.
Anyway he was 95% certain he could convince them to knock it off before they actually launched any world domination plans.
99% if he had time to get Ma to make cinnamon rolls before he went to talk them down.
Not the point, really. The point, right now, was that Elle had made him and D part of her Grave. That she cared for them enough that not even being reduced to her most dangerous, aggressive state, almost completely unable to distinguish friend from foe, was enough to keep her from knowing who they were.
(J’onn J’onzz - scanning the emotions and surface thoughts of the three young heroes to make sure no one was in danger or distress - would like to note to the young man that that was also not the point.
He had the distinct feeling, however, that any attempt to bring that up would go entirely over the young Kryptonian’s head.)
“So!” Danny said clapping his hands together decisively as he flashed a wide grin at Jon's dad and Bruce, “Who wants to pack these two some bags while I get them all moved to Ellie’s Lair?”
This will inevitably become DCxDP BUT ANYWAY
I love the idea of Danny having two sets of everything kinda, he has his human lungs, organs, etc but his ghost has their own versions. I love the idea of the core being the single most important organ a ghost has but I also love the thought that Danny can pull his ghostly heart out of his chest and because it’s ectoplasm it does what he wants so he makes it realistic and grotesque for ppl he’s trying to intimidate or he can pull out a cartoon shaped heart even make it pump through his chest and give himself heart eyes, him casually just pulling out his ghostly organs to study them for help in biology. They do have cores mind, it’s just they also have their other organs just because. Most living now dead beings have their organs because it’s an imprint from their life while the neveborn or the realm ghosts could have nothing but their core, or they could adopt a bunch of different things like a kryptonian’s lung capacity and a Martian’s shapeshifting gene
Ok I have woken up and had food.
Consider:
The Justice League have to defend earth from an oncoming alien invasion, but at the same time there had to prevent a summoning for an ancient evil in the form of a Ghost King.
The time frame for both events was exceedingly short.
So what did they decide to do?
Interrupt the summoning and instead make a deal with the Ghost King to aid them in the alien invasion.
When they do summon him, however, the Ghost King seemed offput that he was even summoned at all, despite the previous track record of him waging war with various worlds.
Pariah, looking at Superman: Ah, I have heard about you, child of Steel.
Superman: [Confusion]
So the Ghost King agrees to help them, to repay a favor that was owned to his parents. Everyone, even Superman thought it had to due with his parents on Krypton that, ya'know, exploded and are questioning what kind of thing they did to get the Ghost King to owe them a favor.
When the day of the Alien invasion came too, they expected either the Ghost King coming down himself, one of his soldiers or a small portion of his army.
Oh, they got an army alright. But not the army they expected.
The Ghost King himself even appeared, in Farmer's attire no less. He struck that pose where a person leaned back and looked to the sky and shouted a war cry, followed by loud, maniacal laughter.
Pariah: GO FORTH MY CHILDREN! DROWN THE EARTH IN THE BLOOD OF YOUR FOES AND BRING HELL DOWN UPON THOSE WHO DARED TEST YOUR MIGHT!
And what followed after his war cry was a flood of horses, both living and undead, covered in ghostly armor that ran through the streets and ascended into the sky to fend off the alien invasion throughout the city.
Of course, the Justice League also fought alongside the Ghost King's 'army' and succeeded in defending earth from the alien invasion. Surprisingly, or perhaps not surprisingly, none of the Ghost King's horses faced any significant injury.
Of course, the news took to it like sharks that smelled a drop of blood within the sea currents. Questions of who the meta is, where they found him and if he were a newfound member of the Justice League, some of the rich even asked if the Justice League could acquire them one of the horses.
Not that Pariah Dark, resident Ghost King and Farmer on earth, would let anyone by any of his children. They wouldn't even know how to or put in the proper care for them!
The favor he owned to Superman's parents weren't of his Kryptonian heritage, no. It was instead a one-sided repayment to the Kent's for gifting him a few rare living horses he didn't know how to acquire, they said he didn't need to pay them back, but he couldn't just leave such considerate and valuable gifts such as these without giving something in return.
Such opportunity came in the form of defending their home planet from an alien invasion.
On another note, the Kent's recognized the man on the internet is currently going crazy about as one of their neighbors. They were worried when they saw him on the scene, and after asked if he was okay.
Pariah(In human form): Foolish mortals, your worries on unfounded.
Clock 'well versed in Pariah decoding' work(in human form): He's very touched by your concern.
Pariah, feeling his face heat up in what human's call blush: My love!
Supergirl: Vigilance by Jade Gretz
The Haunting of the House of El
The rain fell in heavy sheets, hammering against the windows of the old farmhouse. It was an unusual sight, to see Supergirl standing before a structure so ordinary, so far removed from the towering skyscrapers and gleaming cities she was used to protecting. Yet, this place held a history that stretched far beyond the boundaries of Earth, back to the ruins of Krypton, and the secrets buried in the House of El.
Kara Zor-El, known to the world as Supergirl, had come here to uncover a mystery—a curse that had plagued her family for generations. It was a legacy that had been whispered in the darkest corners of Kryptonian lore, a tale of vengeance and malevolent spirits, a story that even the strongest among her kin had chosen to ignore.
But Kara could no longer ignore it. The dreams had started months ago, visions of a dark figure with burning red eyes, its voice a chilling echo that called her name. They were more than just nightmares; they were memories of something ancient and powerful, something that had taken root in her family long before Krypton had been reduced to dust.
The farmhouse belonged to an old friend of her cousin, Clark Kent. It had been abandoned for years, left to decay in the shadow of the mountains. But there was something about this place that drew her here, something that resonated with the visions that haunted her sleep.
As she stood before the door, Kara felt a chill crawl up her spine. She had faced monsters, alien warlords, and cosmic entities, but this was different. This was something that felt personal, a darkness that had somehow survived the destruction of Krypton and found its way to Earth.
She pushed the door open, the hinges creaking in protest. The interior was dark, the air thick with dust and the scent of old wood. The furniture was draped in white sheets, ghostly shapes that loomed in the shadows. The only sound was the rain pounding on the roof, a relentless drumming that seemed to match the quickening beat of her heart.
Kara stepped inside, her boots sinking into the thick layer of dust that coate …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). As I scrolling down tumblur getting back into smallville fandom for this ship and I think I saw someone said Jor El and Lionel. You know as a joke.
Now here me out.
I'm wondering....Jor-el better be a red head.
Either way Jonathan gonna be mad and lose his shit.
Jonathan: You can't steal my wife away Luthor!
Lionel: I would never wish to ruin your marriage.
Jonathan: So you claim.
Lionel: So anyway meet my new romantic interest
Jor-el: Greetings
Jonathan: OH YOU SON OF A BITCH!
Lionel ending up as Clark's step dad either way.
Don't get me wrong. Mionel forever. But the concept is so funny to me.
Let’s take it a step further here. 😈
Prior to Dark Thursday, Lionel is Jor-el’s vessel and becomes just his emissary after the Fortress is disabled. Because Lionel is his vessel, Jor-el can take over any time either full body or enough to pass along a message. The latter causes Lionel lots of pain and no memory of what happened to him, and scribbles that make no sense to him.
After Dark Thursday, he retained all of Jor-el’s knowledge and was beginning to understand Kryptonian and their culture. He knew who Zor-el was and probably knew that Kara Kent was Kara-el (but wanted Clark to be honest with him as a sign of trust).
Now here’s where it gets interesting.
Let’s say that Lionel’s connection to the Fortress was restored over time and he could not only understand everything, but now remembers when Jor-el takes over and/or uses him. He figures out how to communicate with Jor-el so he isn’t this puppet being strung along by powers greater than himself.
Jor-el arranges for Lionel to see an illusion of himself when they talk. A projection that only Lionel can see and hear, but cannot interact with physically in the real world. Jor-el can certainly simulate touch in Lionel’s mind, so that ghostly breath on his neck as the Krypton leader speaks behind him is just a figment of Lionel’s imagination made real to him.
Lionel can only experience Jor-el. The only other people that can see him is Clark and Kara (and Zor and Lara too).
The first time Lionel sees Jor-el is in the middle of a meeting with the board members and Lex. It is an awkward moment that Lionel tries to ignore but the others notice something odd with him. Jor-el, of course, is trying to get Lionel to help Kal-el and now. Lionel knows if he doesn’t comply he’s going to be made too very soon.
He tries to feign illness and he manages to convince the others he’s not well and willing to adjourn the meeting for lunch, but Lex is not buying it. As soon as the others leave he confronts his father, demanding answers.
Lionel somewhat tells him the truth. He’s not well because he’s seeing things and doesn’t trust himself not to react. Lex finds it odd and stares after his father as the man sudden speaks in a strange language to no one in particular on his way out.
This eventually leads to Lionel exploring what Jor-el can do with him and a very bizarre relationship with the dead Kryptonian. When Clark finds out how far he’s explored, he’s not sure if he should be weirded out, offended, or pity Lionel.
Of course Martha eventually finds out when she confronts him about the strange behaviors. Lionel cannot lie to her and tells her everything, which leads to an even stranger triangle between her, Lionel and Jor-el.
Clark is even more weirded out by that and works to figure out how to disconnect Lionel. Bad enough Lionel pins for his mother, he doesn’t need his biological father falling for her too.
Phantom in the League
---
The Watchtower hummed with its usual low energy, the heartbeat of Earth's greatest defenders. The Justice League had just wrapped up their latest meeting, discussing the increasing dimensional rifts appearing across the globe. Batman, ever the detective, had been the first to suggest the possibility of a more mystical cause. Naturally, the League looked to Zatanna and Constantine for guidance. But before they could dive too deep, another voice cut through.
"We could always ask Phantom."
Superman’s suggestion was simple, straightforward, and met with a few curious looks. The Kryptonian had always been one to trust his teammates, but Phantom’s origins had been one of the best-kept secrets in the League. Phantom, the young yet mysterious ghostly hero, had been a valuable ally since he’d been recruited after saving Star City from a rampant ghost attack nearly a year ago.
The League had grown used to his presence. His ethereal glow, the way he seemed to fade in and out of sight like a wisp of smoke, and the cryptic smile that often played on his lips. He was a mystery, one they had chosen to respect, but now? Now, they needed answers.
"Do we even know where to find him?" Green Lantern asked, hovering a few inches off the ground. "He just… shows up."
"I can find him," Batman declared, his voice a low growl that brooked no argument. "He can't stay hidden forever."
"He's never been a threat, Bats," Flash pointed out, leaning casually against the conference table. "He's just… Phantom. He helps out, doesn't ask for anything in return, then he's gone."
"That might be true, but we need to know who or what we’re dealing with," Wonder Woman added. "If these dimensional rifts are tied to his abilities or his world, we need to be prepared."
Superman nodded in agreement, his arms crossed over his broad chest. "Let’s just ask him directly. If he trusts us enough to fight alongside us, then he’ll trust us with the truth."
---
Phantom had never been easy to track, but Batman had his ways. And when Batman wanted to find someone, he did.
The Batcomputer pinged with a soft alert as he isolated Phantom’s spectral energy signature, something the Dark Knight had painstakingly compiled over the past few months. It was faint, almost undetectable, but there was enough to trace a general location: an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Gotham. Fittingly enough.
---
When the League arrived at the warehouse, it was eerily silent. The only sign of life—or unlife—was a soft, pulsing green light emanating from the cracks in the walls. Superman could hear the faintest murmur of voices, and Wonder Woman felt the magical energy in the air thickening, almost like stepping into another world.
“Stay on guard,” Batman instructed, though he knew everyone was already on high alert.
They pushed open the rusted doors, revealing a scene none of them had expected. Phantom was there, hovering mid-air, his back to them. But he wasn’t alone. Standing before him was a massive, imposing figure, crowned with a spectral crown and draped in regal, ghostly armor. The very air around the figure crackled with power—power that seemed to warp reality itself.
"Who the hell is that?" Green Lantern whispered, his ring already flaring to life.
"That's Pariah Dark," Phantom’s voice cut through the silence, clear and calm. He turned slowly, his eyes glowing a vivid green. "The former Ghost King of the Infinite Realms."
“Former?” Wonder Woman questioned, her brow furrowed in concern.
“Yes,” Phantom continued, descending to the ground as he spoke. “He’s no longer the king because… I am.”
The League froze. Superman’s eyes widened slightly, and even Batman seemed taken aback, though he quickly masked it. The implication was massive.
Phantom noticed their reactions and sighed, looking almost tired. “I was hoping to keep this quiet, at least until the time was right. But I suppose now is as good a time as any.”
He walked forward, the green glow around him dimming as he shifted from his ghostly form into that of a human boy—one who looked no older than seventeen. His black hair fell into his face as he offered them a weary smile, his bright blue eyes meeting theirs with surprising warmth.
“My name is Danny. Danny Fenton. And, yes, I’m the current King of the Infinite Realms.”
“The Infinite Realms?” Superman asked, though the name already resonated with him. He had heard of it before—an interdimensional realm of ghosts and spirits, a place of both immense power and danger.
Danny nodded. “It’s… complicated. The realms are like a web of dimensions, all interconnected and constantly shifting. I inherited the throne after defeating Pariah Dark.” He gestured towards the massive ghost, who remained silent, his eyes glowing with an eerie intensity. “It wasn’t exactly by choice, but it’s my responsibility now.”
“So, you’re a king,” Flash summed up, trying to wrap his head around it. “And you’ve been, what? Just hanging out with us, fighting bad guys on Earth?”
Danny chuckled, a sound that held a hint of bitterness. “Pretty much. The Infinite Realms are my duty, but Earth… Earth is my home. I couldn’t just abandon it, not with everything that’s happened.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Wonder Woman asked, her tone gentle but firm.
Danny hesitated, his gaze falling to the ground. “I didn’t want you to see me differently. I’m still me, still the same guy who fought alongside you. I just… have a lot more on my plate than most.”
“Kid,” Green Lantern said, lowering his ring, “we’ve all got our secrets. But this? This is big. You could have told us.”
“I know,” Danny admitted, his voice soft. “But I wasn’t ready. I didn’t want to bring my problems into your world. But with these rifts appearing… they might be connected to the Realms, and that means it’s my responsibility to fix it.”
Batman stepped forward, his eyes never leaving Danny’s. “And Pariah Dark?”
The ghost king finally spoke, his voice a deep rumble that seemed to echo through the very fabric of reality. “I am here at the behest of my king. I no longer seek to conquer. My past… transgressions have been put aside.”
Danny glanced at Pariah, his expression unreadable. “Pariah Dark is… complicated. But he’s under control. I’m keeping him in check.”
There was a moment of tense silence before Superman spoke, his voice carrying the authority of a leader but the warmth of a friend. “Danny, we’re a team. We face these challenges together. If the Realms are a threat, we’ll help you. But you need to trust us, just like we trust you.”
Danny looked up, meeting Superman’s gaze, and for the first time, he truly felt like a part of something bigger. Not just a king, not just a hero, but a member of the Justice League.
“Okay,” Danny agreed, his voice firm. “I’ll tell you everything. And together, we’ll stop whatever’s threatening both of our worlds.”
The League nodded in unison, the tension slowly dissipating. They were in this together, just as they had always been.
As they prepared to leave, Danny couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. The burden of his secret was still heavy, but now he wasn’t carrying it alone. For the first time in a long while, he felt like he truly belonged.
And as the Watchtower’s doors closed behind them, Danny knew that whatever came next, he wouldn’t have to face it alone.
pt.2
