Characters: Viktor x Counselor!Reader

You took over the counselor position after your Uncle, Torman Hoskel, retired.

You got into politics for the sole purpose of giving equality to those less fortunate. You were a black sheep of sorts, in comparison to your other family members

you were seen as childish- bright eyed and naive, but you played your cards closely and carefully, much like one Medarda (she too realized this)

It was earlier on into the beginning of the age of Hextech, Jayce Talis and his partner, Viktor from the Undercity were becoming the faces of the future.

People mainly only acknowledged Jayce, but you often sought out Viktor as well, including him on the conversations with the progress of Hextech

You gave Viktor the equal respect and admiration as Jayce received from everyone, and that surprised Viktor- a welcome surprise, thankfully

Over time, you built a steady, healthy friendship with him and Jayce, genuinely happy and enthralled with the progress and creations they made over the years

At first, Viktor thought your actions were none other than another counselor wanting Hextech in their pocket-

He was mistaken and he's glad of it, you never came in with that as your goal

You first poach the idea of installing something of good use to the undercity to Jayce in private, hoping for him to take the hint to speed things along.

His best friend, his partner in Hextech after all, was from Zaun. Viktor deserved to see their creations be used to help his people.

You advocated for Zaun more as time went on, acknowledging the name that the people have given their home. You brought in infrastructure ideas, growing more and more agitated as your ideas kept being pushed to the back burner.

This got you into arguments- Many arguments with the other counselors but you refused to bend. Counselor Heimerdinger remained neutral, not able to see that his people were starving in the undercity, suffering and ill ridden despite his prodigy being a product of that environment. You appreciated Heimerdinger for everything he's done, but came to the realization that it wasn't enough.

word of uprisings and crime lords gaining power in the Undercity after all the things that happened 5 years prior (the explosion at Jayce’s, the one down by the southern docks, the death of the ‘Hound’, Vander); it all gained your attention more

You had called for a meeting with the other counselors the night you returned, bringing your own collected vile of what was called Shimmer. The purple, glimmery fluid almost glowed, pulsing with light as you placed it before Counselor Heimerdinger.

“I’m afraid I must be completely honest and blunt here,” you usher to the vile,

“This is the product of our blatant disregard of our people in the Undercity.”

Counselor Salo scoffs, rolling his eyes and spewing some vile insinuations of ‘heathens’ and ‘animals’.

You ignore him, standing in the middle of the circular table,”I commend Counselor Kirammans house for commissioning the pipes in the lower parts of the Undercity to give them safe, proper air to breathe,” you nod to the woman,”But this is not enough. The people deserve more. They need our support, our protection-“

You don’t realize that Jayce and Viktor have been summoned, approaching the room and being let in halfway through your rant.

Viktor is surprised-

“These people have dug their own grave- they start riots and spew violence-”

“Only because they've been backed into a corner, Salo!” You shout, walking closer to his seat and therefore cornering him, despite the barrier of the table,”Anyone will do what they can to protect themselves, their families, from violence.”

You stand up straight, looking around the table. The counselors either look away or face you, a scowl on their lips.

“We are supposed to protect our people, not bury them underground with no hopes to getting out,” you usher to the vile once more,”This is what our lack of protection and equality does to them. Strips them of their lives. They're constantly in fear or struck by illness or addiction, all because we've been turning a blind eye. It's no wonder they've been rioting- it's the only thing that has gotten your attention!”

You glance over to Counselor Shoola, at least hoping she would acknowledge it but you're surprised to see Jayce and Viktor in the entryway.

“This meeting is adjourned,” Counselor Heimerdinger speaks out, beckoning the two in the entryway in.

You send a scathing glare at them all before storming out.

Viktor finds you a few hours later on the terrace above the gardens.

He's quiet, his cane the only form of noise as he approaches. There's a brisk chill to the air, moon high above the clouds cascading a cool glow along the flowers below.

He sighs, leaning against the banister, gazing down below before drifting his eyes back up to the sky

You huff out a soft sigh, head bowing in exhaustion,”They're all idiots.”

He laughs softly, nodding in agreement as he peers over at you,”Yeah- yeah, they can be.”

You bring your head up, frustration in your brow,”I just- how can these people be so stuck up? I get that my head was in the dirt for a while- but I learned and I'm trying to make things right-”

“You're using your status and position to do good,” he murmurs, leaning on his elbow and facing you,”That's more than any of them can say, honestly.”

You glance over at him with a sorrowful look,”What if that isn't enough? I'm doing all that I can, I've started production in the lower mines to clear out the old piping-”

Viktor shakes his head at that, hesitating for a moment before reaching out to place his hand over yours,”Even speaking it aloud does something. Your actions alone have proven that, don't think I haven't heard you giving ideas to Jayce for the undercity while I wasn't there.”

He smirks at you and you huff.

“Just keep doing what you're doing, I'm right there with you and I know Jayce is too,” he reassures softly.

You nod quietly, peering down below,”I hope I haven't squandered my position.”

“I don't think you have, and honestly,” he steps closer,”I don't think you will anytime soon. Your seat in that chamber is important for Piltover's Infrastructure- I'd say you hold more cards than Shoola or Salo.”

You roll your eyes with a fond huff,”Now, I doubt that-”

“Don't,” he speaks firm but careful,”You have what they don't seem to-”

You raise a brow,”And what would that be?”

He's silent for such a brief moment, eyes flicking across your face before he smiles softly,”A heart.”

Your face warms, surprisingly, and you attempt to brush it off with a sarcastic laugh.

“Considering one of them is made of metal-”

“I mean it,” he steps closer, and suddenly you feel his warmth,”You have a heart- full of fire and care for people you haven't even met-”

He cups your forearm,”You were kind to me without scorn, even when we first met.”

You're silent, gaze drifting down to his hand holding your arm. Your heart is thundering away in your chest,”It's not difficult to be kind.”

“For some, it is,” he murmurs, his warm eyes drifting over your face, urging you to look at him,”But you never wavered.”

You bring your gaze back up to his, almost taken aback by the genuine smile on his lips.

He brushes back a stray hair, tucking it behind your ear and cupping your cheek tenderly, pulling you in.

You almost think he's going to kiss you, but instead presses his forehead against yours, sighing softly.

“Keep using your voice,” he murmurs,”They're sure to listen eventually.”

You lean into his hold, hand moving to cup his elbow softly as you nod quietly.

He's the one to pull back, another surprise, but doesn't let you pull away completely- instead peering at you with a soft, but questioning gaze, eyes moving down to your lips before trailing back up to yours.

You nod, nose brushing his as he slots his lips over yours.

First let me say I never was too deep in Austin’s fandom until Dune and I started to follow fansites and it kinda ruined everything for me but I’m still holding on and pushing through bc I look at it like I’m Austin’s fan and not a fan of his relationship. And those that ONLY talked abt his relationship I just unfollowed 🤷🏻‍♀️ So appreciate that you do talk abt his relationship and answer questions but try to always bring it back to Austin. Seeing so many fan pages just mostly talk abt his relationship is so draining but I also get it and how frustrating it is and fans wanna vent. also I’m Austin’s generation and I can say like the other anon it seems impossible to find someone within our generation that’s authentic and genuine and I’m saying this based off my mine and all my ppls personal experiences 😫 I know many who are too afraid to be alone so their just staying in a unhappy relationship. And I could totally understand staying with someone you really don’t have to worry abt using you if you already know what your getting with her and her family bc their in a position your life is headed at the time (and surpassing for sure). I think this relationship is running thin for Austin at this point and it may be hard for him to let go maybe bc of the person he is and his past experiences. Some celebrities stay within that circle bc they feel there’s less of a chance to be used outside of publicly and some celebrities only want relationships with normal ppl. It will be interesting to see what he does after this relationship. Hopefully he just enjoys being by himself for a while.

Yea, I totally understand why us as non-shippers need a safe space to freely vent about our frustrations with this relationship, or even with Austin himself 😩 (a lot of us have been bullied and silenced for so long), but I too was starting to feel like even some Austin-related blogs were talking more about the nepobaby than Austin himself!

Maybe other blogs can get away with this, but my blog is actually named "Austin's Lounge" lol, so unlike neutral-named blogs that discuss Austin, my blog actually has Austin's name in the title, so I like to try to keep my blog Austin-centric for the most part.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind discussing Gerber Baby, Kaustin, or even Austin's previous relationships/gfs (we all need to discuss things or vent sometimes), but at the end of the day, I'm not a fan of Kaia or his relationship(s) -- I'm first and foremost a fan of Austin. 😊

I can definitely see Austin or just some actors in general staying in relationships that don't suit them just because they don't want to be alone.

Also, keep in mind that KG latched on to Austin during a time when he was not at the level of fame that he is right now, so she was with him during his rise to fame with "Elvis", and all of the other craziness that went along with it, so he might be wondering if a new woman would be with him for him, if they would understand the business or his busy filming schedule, or if they would just be liking him for his fame.🥴 What's funny, is that the latter is exactly why KG latched on to Austin in the first place (imo), but she just timed it perfectly.

I think it can be hard for some actors to find genuine relationships in Hollywood just in general.

You know, whilst obviously a cushy ass job, I don't think many people appreciate how difficult and stressful content creation is. Humans were never meant to have millions of eyes on them and especially people in their 20s or lower are never going to be the perfect emotionless content creating machine

Idk, it's just the way I see some people talk about CCs is kind of painful. Maybe I'm being a bit parasocial, but a few are around my age, or even younger, and I can't help but wonder how horrifically choking it must be to have to continuously entertain millions of people. I know it's easy to forget just how much that is. But even one million is a staggering amount of people. Many of them have over 5+ million subscribers.

And worse yet is that they have to balance their genuine friendships and emotions with what will be considered entertaining to an audience. It's easy as scarian girlies to be upset when Grian avoids Scar so much in the life series since third life, but I think that annoyance is a bit misplaced both because 1. They still interact quite a bit and their interaction are always full of joy and radiate with their friendship even when they play enemies, and 2. In the grand scheme of things, we remain a minority within the 8 million people who are subscribed to Grian. Many more would be annoyed to get the same storyline over and over.

There is an unfortunate pragmatism that content creators in such series have to employ. They need to juggle between their friendships, the people they tend to hover around, and the idea of what would make good content. As much as scarian girlies would eat up 5 seasons of scarian alliance, the nature of their natural friend dynamic as well as the series in general would lead to it being repetitive. It would lead to decreased viewer satisfaction. Decreased viewership. Decreased money. They're in the unfortunate position of monetizing their friendships. Who they ally themselves with is not just a matter of who they like most, but it's also a business decision. None of us are in the position to fully appreciate that, unless there are content creators with millions of followers in the midst of mcyt fans ig.

Idk. Idk. Maybe I'm too protective of CCs or whatever. But I've seen too many folks completely dehumanise them and fully forget that they're just dudes playing Minecraft for a living with their friends in front of million of people. A lot of these dudes are in their 20s or 30s. Hell, even those in their 40s have a right to struggle with shit as well. That level of attention on you can be terrifying. They reserve the right to do what they fucking want, and furthermore reserve the right to offer the kind of content they want. And maybe that includes not exploring a storyline or trope or character the fandom is hyped about because they got spooked by the attention, or flat out aren't comfortable with it. Maybe it's trying to be aware of how often they magnetize towards their closer friends, and thus avoiding making all of their videos about them, because they want to ensure the amusement of the million of people who watch them.

Idk. Idk. There's a level of entitlement we can sometimes feel towards the CCs that we as a fanbase - that we as individual people - need to be aware of and question. These are people. They're professional but not in the same sense that film actors are professionals. The majority of them completely stumbled into their popularity and their spontaneity ends up weighed down by that awareness of an audience. Idk. Grian won't read your posts about him but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be kind

I saw someone post a video about a little porcelain figure they found and it was a crow in a big straw hat and a sweater and behind the crow was several different easels. The person filming the video dubbed the porcelain figure 'vincent van crow' so you see where I'm going with this. (Btw this is an AU where Akechi lives and he works with the phantom thieves because they can see he needs help and they're going to give him that help whether he wants it or not. Canon be damned.)

Akechi and Yusuke walking around different shops because yusuke needs new art supplies and guess who they find sitting on a shelf tucked away behind some miscellaneous items like mason jars and small vases of different dull colors. Vincent Van Crow. Akechi saw him first and thought Yusuke would appreciate the little porcelain figure, unaware of the artist's terrible spending habits. Yusuke would feel the same connection to Vincent Van Crow that he did with his lobsters and abandon the original mission just to buy him, insisting it was destiny. A crow that was a fellow artist, the only one on the shell and who better to point it out to him but Akechi himself.

Despite Akechi's protests that Yusuke's funds are limited and he should focus on finding the supplies for whatever new piece he was working on (it was a watercolor painting, several paintings, of the various different places in the backstreets where lebanc resided) Yusuke insists on buying him. Akechi doesn't quite understand how Yusuke can have such a sentimental attachment to an object he doesn't own yet but he can't afford to argue any longer because he'll lose his cool.

It isn't until they've finished their shopping and are walking back to the train station that he starts to really get it. Not because he had given the porcelain crow any thought but because Yusuke declared that this small, breakable and frankly unimpressive (to akechi at least) figure was a sign of their bond. A representation of different facets of their personalities and how despite the fact that nobody really understood it, Yusuke and Akechi made sense together.

On paper it was strange, an aloof artist and the famous detective prince but looking past the surface gave a glimpse into why they worked so well together. Yusuke was honest, brutally honest he never censored himself because he didn't see the point in doing so, he looked for a deeper meaning in everything which made sense since all art has some meaning behind it. It's second nature for him to evaluate everything he saw on a deeper level. Akechi appreciated having someone like Yusuke in his life because he never worried that Yusuke was using him like everyone else had. Yusuke's unrelenting honestly was a breath of fresh air for akechi, and no matter how hard he tried to convince himself in the beginning he could never fully believe that Yusuke's honesty was an act. He was too genuine and his perceptive abilities made him see past the act Akechi would often put on.

In turn Akechi was very critical, he had to be as a detective, and he was constantly aware of his surroundings. He always kept a look out for any danger and covered all his bases to make sure he could keep himself safe. Which was something Yusuke appreciated because he would often get lost in thought and wander off to various different places because they piqued his interest, he couldn't stay on task like Akechi could.

They helped each other and the time they spent together was time well spent, numerous discussions of various topics being viewed from two different lens. But they still managed to consider the other's position in their discussions, Yusuke would consider the analytical mindset that Akechi had and Akechi would pay more attention to the finer details and emotional aspects of a situation like Yusuke did. It was an odd but wonderful friendship they had.

So on the train ride back to their homes, Akechi considered the porcelain crow and his porcelain easels, the shine of his feathers and the way his beak twisted into a sweet smile and he felt a small warmth fill his heart. Warmth at the thought that his friend, his real friend that he had made on his own, would keep that small crow on a shelf or a table and think of him whenever he saw it. Warmth because he wasn't alone anymore, he was wanted by the people around him. Wanted enough for his friend to buy an insignificant trinket that put an extra expense on his limit supply of money just because it reminded him of the detective. Warmth because he was loved.

Misconduct Chapter 4

For the ending portion i didn’t write in an outfit cause well, personally i like to leave the reader the freedom to add in their own style. Not everyone would like/be comfortable in my own preferences, so I try to allow for freedom on your end. (also cause some fics ive read i say im not wearing that)

Of course Tseng confiscated the PHS. Gifting Genesis with another one and sending him off to training as there was ‘still another hour left’. Though, not before chewing Genesis out for nearly ten minutes on why he should constantly be in the loop for any activity or extra measures being taken in regards to your case. Taking time out to point out that it’s also a ‘safety concern’. Though Genesis was suspicious that Tseng was trying to sneak in petty things to provide Genesis with the reasons he was in this predicament. He certainly didn’t seem to be the most excited to work with the SOLDIER. 

The room the class was held in was dark when he walked in, interrupting what appeared to be an Intro to Materia video. For once Genesis didn’t appreciate all eyes being on him as the room full of Third Class SOLDIERs looked over at him.Gaining more than a few puzzled looks as Genesis made himself comfortable in the desk across from the instructor’s. This is probably the first time he’s felt awkward making his presence known, quite familiar with being the center of attention. Despite this, he wasn’t going to hide in the back, Genesis having always been the type to sit at the front of any and every class he attends. Looking around the room and meeting everyone’s gaze with a disapproving scowl, prompting everyone to quickly refocus on the video. 

Leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed with a huff, legs spread apart wide enough to call it a whorish display. Quietly regarding the instructor at her position in front of the projector screen, fully expecting her to continue teaching. An eyebrow raised in question as she stared back at him with an excited look on her face.

“Is there something you need?” 

Offering a brief apology before explaining that she had a discussion with Director Lazard and Tseng while they added Genesis into the training program. Inquiring if he could assist in the training of new recruits with materia handling along with a Materia Fusion training starting tomorrow. His level of experience, expertise along with his rank and accomplishments being the source of her request. Deciding to mention the lack of inclusion on making decisions on his behalf the moment he saw either one of them.

An odd proposition considering he was placed here partially due to the mishandling of materia. Though, it would be a bit of an upgrade from being a student. In his mind taking it as a leadership role. The idea of teaching helped heal a bit of Genesis’ currently bruised ego. Giving a few visual presentations in the near future didn’t sound like a horrible plan, “Sure, I suppose I wouldn’t mind while I’m around.” What would be the harm in giving a helping hand? Besides the ancient training video they were watching hadn’t changed from the year he became a third class. It was unbelievable they hadn’t updated a single thing to progress the teachings of their soldiers on how to use something as vital as materia. Maybe that’s why SOLDIERs like the Fair boy were becoming a little more common. They didn’t even bother to share new information with their educators, how could they expect the next coming wave of SOLDIER to be of any use.

The materia instructor was clearly overly excited about this opportunity. Whether it was out of genuine delight for teaching the arts of materia or if it was the way she was openly fawning over Genesis in front of everyone had yet to be determined. Resuming her current lesson plan after thanking him profusely, occasionally receiving input or a correction in terminology from Genesis. He truly didn’t mean to offend the instructor. Frankly, she appeared to be trying her hardest. There was no getting around the simple fact that the information was from an old program. It taught the basics at least. 

Lingering around to discuss his role in teaching the class to the instructor. Genesis wasn’t one to deny such a gorgeous individual of his attention, considering she was clearly seeking it out. Easily standing over the short blonde woman, her straight light blonde hair framing her face and falling well past her shoulders. Light blue eyes admiring his features as he approached her desk. Her anticipation was clear as day as Genesis stood in front of her desk with a mischievous smirk tugging at his lips. ‘I could have a bit of fun with this.’ 

“I apologize for being so rude. I don’t believe I caught your name, love.” Genesis’ flirtatious smile comes off as inviting as he grins a bit more, showing off his perfect white teeth as she blushes under his steady eye contact. Her eyes darted down shyly at his question. 

“Erva,” she timidly responds, her voice now a far contrast from the confidence displayed during her lesson. 

‘A beautiful name for a beautiful woman.’ His eyes trailing along her soft features, round face and big eyes partially hidden behind bangs. Genesis wasn’t looking for anything remotely serious but there was no harm in a bit of flirting. Perhaps he could bring her home for a night if her personality appealed to him as well, so far she seemed more than sweet enough. “Well Erva, I’m honored to assist you as long as I remain in your presence. I was thinking I could bring some training material of my own. I’m sure I have more than enough information to provide, it would make for a better guide than the standard Shinra issued tutorial.” 

Erva, doing her best to contain her excitement at the thought of the, Genesis Rhapsodos, creating a lesson plan that would improve the knowledge of those to come. Dually this would further her own learning, being given an opportunity to delve a bit deeper into such an important subject. With a starry eye gaze she nods her head, her enthusiasm coming off as endearing to Genesis. “Of course, if there’s anything I can help you with, please, don’t hesitate to let me know.” 

She couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of Genesis' mouth when he mentioned he was “honored” to teach alongside her. Erva nearly had a hard time understanding Genesis would see this as a positive thing, thinking he would have to be heavily coaxed into putting in that kind of time and effort. 

Extending a gloved hand to Erva, a sense of bliss overcame him as she daintily took his hand in her own. Her features reddened deeply as he shook her hand, still not missing a moment of eye contact. Thanking Erva for having him attend her class before exiting the small classroom. 

“Genesis!” 

Turning his head to acknowledge whoever would be so rude they would dare shout at him in such a way, or at all for that matter. Genesis’ eyes rolling as he sees the source of the unnecessary noises bounding towards him. “Fair.” this wasn’t the same warm aura he had a few seconds prior upon spotting Zack. He didn’t dislike the Third Class, in fact he had grown fond of Zack and his puppy-like ways. Even going out of his way to teach Zack a few tricks from time to time. Typically things Angeal didn’t approve of Zack being shown quite yet. There was a reason it took nearly a year for anyone to let Zack within 20 feet of the materia room without use of the buddy system. Kunsel often the one to supervise Zack on his way through the portion of the building.

Zack was practically shaking with energy, bouncing from one foot to the other. His expression of constant excitement still plastered all over his face. “Angeal has been looking for you everywhere man. Somethin’ about you leaving the other day and you haven’t spoke to em since. What’d he do to you?” Zack didn’t actually think Angeal had done anything wrong and if he did that would certainly come as a surprise. Yet, never the type to point the blame on anyone, also being a bit curious on the matter as a rumor had been going around Shinra that Genesis was taken off duty. He had no information on his current situation and needed to pry a bit.

“Nobody has done anything to me, Zack,” it felt like an absolute lie to say. It had nothing to do with Angeal anyway, Genesis had no ill emotions held to either of the First Class SOLDIERS. “I’ve been busy with a new assignment.” 

“Oh really? I heard you were relieved of your duties. Anyways, gotta get going, training and all of that. Later!” 

Watching Zack’s retreating form for a brief moment, Genesis’ brow furrowing in concern at his words. ‘How would Zack, of all people, know that.’ It didn’t bother Genesis too terribly, after all, he was on assignment. He was working under the Turks for a while, that was all. To think this would even turn into a rumor was outrageous. Already having in mind to pay Angeal and Sephiroth a visit, making Genesis’ need to do so double down as he immediately heads towards their shared office. 

Borderline power walking to their office once he left the elevator. The door flew open, hinges creaking in protest as Genesis burst through the door. The occupants momentarily stunned as the tension in the air thickened as Genesis slammed the door behind him. 

“Who told Fair I’ve been relieved of my SOLDIER duties? I don’t recall it being any of his business.” 

The initial shock quickly wore off as Genesis speaks, replaced with annoyance on Angeal’s part. The reaction earned a smirk from Sephiroth, he hadn’t communicated with Genesis since the day he pushed his buttons at the elevator. He barely did anything to tip Genesis off in his eyes, teasing in the same manner their banter usually consists of.  

“How would we know? You haven’t talked to us since you got back from your mission.” Sephiroth’s voice rang out as he set his pen down. Giving Genesis a look of confusion, his smirk disappearing at his accusation. Genesis could see right through his deception, not being fooled by Sephiroth’s words in the slightest.

Angeal huffs, exchanging a knowing look with Sephiroth, their expressions suggesting they knew more than they were letting on. The subject on hand wasn’t something that should have been a big deal. They knew Genesis wouldn’t be happy to hear he was the topic of the latest Shirna gossip. It was inevitable as other SOLDIER members talked amongst themselves as they saw Genesis was removed from several upcoming missions.

Assuming Genesis heard a version of the story that had been twisted in order for it to seem like something worse than the reality of it all, Angeal attempts to smooth over Genesis’ anger before he went off the deep end over something so trivial. 

“We didn’t hear any details, we heard you were being taken off of any assignments for the foreseeable future. We’ve also been informed by Lazard that we aren’t to attempt to utilize you for SOLDIER roles as you work under Tseng until further notice,” Angeal explained in hopes that it would disincline his red haired companion from making much of a ruckus about such a petty thing. “I was hoping you would be in the mood to finally tell us what’s been going on.” 

“It’s kind of not fair to leave us in the dark like this. You would expect an explanation from us, no?” Sephiroth was right, Genesis would fully have wanted to know every single second leading up to now, fully expecting the only thing to stop them from talking about work have been confidentiality clauses. Even that was a big maybe. 

“I-” picking his words wisely as all three of them know the likeness of any conversation held in the building are more than likely recorded. Especially in more private locations through the building such as the offices. Genesis expression displaying annoyance once he realized he couldn’t freely vent. “Are you going to lunch at the typical time?” 

“Yes, same place as well.” Sephiroth replied knowingly. Cogs turning in his head as worry takes over, concerned as to what the future of Genesis may entail. He didn’t let it show physically, leaning back in his chair comfortably as he looked Genesis over from head to toe. Seeing that he appeared physically fine at least pacifying some of his concerns. 

“I’ll meet you there.”

Sephiroth and Angeal patiently waited at the booth in the back of the small diner. From the looks of the place one wouldn’t think that any of the Firsts would dare stop there. While in nice, clean condition the interior was extremely outdated. Still clinging onto the vintage style that’s probably been around since the day it was built. Six red booth seats lining the left side of the small business. A wooden bar with stools lined up along the counter situated along the right side of the establishment. 

“Always the last one to show up,” Angeal shifted in his seat as Genesis sat in the booth beside him. “Is everything okay?” 

“Yeah,” Genesis wasn’t sure where to begin. He damn near had not a single clue what was going on. While he did receive a lot of information on his new assignment, he couldn’t help but feel left in the dark. He would’ve cracked a small grin at Angeal’s jab at his punctuality if it wasn’t for him genuinely making an attempt to be there in time. “I had to get rid of that stupid phone Tseng gave me. He was blunt about tracking my location, no doubt he’s sitting at his desk listening to me all day.” 

“This is already sounding worse than what I was expecting,” Sephiroth said, his eyebrow raising, lips parted as he was following up with another statement. Leaning over the table, forearms supporting his current posture, speaking in more of a hushed whisper than he previously had been. “Nod if you need help.”

“Yes!” Genesis announced nodding his head vigorously, still trying to maintain a low tone but he couldn’t help the stress bubbling out of his soul. Earning a puzzled look from both of his companions, anticipating the rant they knew was to come. 

“I have no idea what the fuck is going on. All I know is I’m supposed to follow some bitch around for Goddess knows how long and possibly be their friend so I can get information from them.” Genesis props his elbow on the table, thumb placed on his temple as he rubs his forehead in a display of distress. “It’s like I’m their newly appointed probation officer.”

“So it’s an espionage mission?” Sephiroth asks, feeling suspicious of the task the Turks and Lazard set Genesis to handle. 

Angeal interjecting the conversation this time, “They’ve always been notorious for telling us little to nothing whenever they ask for help. I can’t say I’m surprised they’ve got you going in blind.” 

Genesis couldn’t say he was going into this without knowing a single thing. He’s found out a lot about you, rather everything Tseng wanted him to know about you. Explaining to Angeal and Sephiroth what occurred during the discussion between Lazard and Genesis that led to this point. Giving an in depth explanation of your background and what you’re currently known ties to the increase in crime on the top plate. The only thing missing was the oversized file Genesis received for this. Making sure he doesn’t skip details about the requests Tseng has made as far as keeping tabs on you The mentions of using Genesis to assist in pinpointing a drug dealer leaving the other two stumped. “Can you imagine my disbelief when I learned I see this person more or less everyday in traffic, let alone living within walking distance of me?!” 

Quieting himself down when the waiter behind the bar eyed him curiously as he wiped down the counter. He was quite adjusted to these three coming in for lunch or a general meetup. Taking the silent cue from Angeal’s lingering eye contact, the waiter enters the back room in order to give the three more privacy.

Crossing his arms while making an attempt to relax in his seat, Genesis’ back pressed against the soft red cushion of the backrest. “Tseng says, when they move, I move. I've done nothing to deserve this.” The sight was teetering on childlike behavior. Letting out an exasperated huff as he slumped in his seat.

Genesis could've had it worse in both Sephiroth and Angeal’s perspective. It wasn't the greatest thing in the world, but Genesis didn't have to do anything besides solely focus on this one assignment and a bit of training? The downsides being he would constantly be on call alongside with the inability to leave Midgar on a whim. But how often would Genesis really be leaving anyway. Sephiroth’s statement wasn't meant to be a jab at Genesis’ situation, rather an astute observation. 

“Genesis, you destroyed a historical landmark.” 

“And blatantly ignored orders…again.” Angeal quipped in, immediately earning a glare from Genesis.

“Who’s side are you on?” Genesis sounded insulted at being called out by Angeal’s additional comment.  

Angeal didn’t get to entertain a response, the words dying on the tip of his tongue as he saw the bright red hair of Reno in his peripheral vision. He’s not even sure he heard the usual chime announcing when a new patron has entered. It only took a few seconds before Reno made his way through the small space, his destination clearly being where they’re seated. 

Rude followed through the door a split second after, taking his position beside Reno and nodding at the three as a silent greeting. 

Pulling out the PHS from the inner pocket of Rude’s suit, handing it back to Genesis while giving what everyone could only assume was a disapproving look behind his shades. “I’m sure you’ve been informed how important it is to keep this with you at all times.” 

If being traced down by these two wasn’t bad enough, the moment Reno grabbed him by the shoulders to physically pull him out of his seat by the pauldrons was worse. Hearing Sephiroth’s light chuckle at being handled in such a way by Reno sent Genesis further down a path of anger, pushing against the eccentric Turk as he was brought to his feet. 

Embarrassing was certainly the word for it. Taken off guard by just how strong Reno was, his grip unrelenting in Genesis squirmish. Giving him a light push forward down the aisle as Reno let him go, following behind Genesis with Rude in tow. “We don't like having things added to our to-do list. No hiding next time.” 

“Do not touch me again,” Genesis’ voice carried an unspoken threat, as he was ushered out of the door, not even being allowed the time to say anything else to Sephiroth and Angeal. 

“We have to get you ready, you have a big night ahead of you.” Reno states, a hint of mischievous coating his tone. 

Gears were turning in Genesis' mind as he made an attempt to set his anger to the side and figure out what the next turn of events could possibly hold for him. “What do you mean by that?” 

Genesis' eyes narrow at the statement, stopping in his tracks before they could urge him further along. 

Reno, who couldn’t seem to keep his hands to himself, once again grabbed Genesis by the shoulders. His grip was more gentle than the first time, but maintaining a closeness that made Genesis' skin crawl as he was urged in the direction of their car. 

If the list of reasons to rip Reno’s hands off wasn’t already long enough in Genesis’ mind, taking notice of the vehicle Genesis purposefully left at Shinra extended his reasoning by miles. Parked horribly and with the convertible roofing tucked away giving away that clearly someone had been enjoying themselves. 

“You stole my fucking car?” Genesis was damn near speechless for once in his life, firmly believing there was no possible way this could have been allowed. The look on his face screamed ‘let me speak to your supervisor.’ 

Rude finally decided to speak up while he rounds Genesis’ car, “You gave us a reason to, by hiding your PHS, not in the smartest place either.” Getting in the passenger seat, Reno following and to the utmost displeasure Genesis could imagine, despite the list of ongoing annoyances, Reno jumps over the door and into the backseat, gesturing for Genesis to be their driver. 

“Let’s go! You have work to tend to.”

By the time you finally woke out of your slumber the sun had gone down, the living room now cloaked in darkness, the only light coming through your window provided by the patio lighting and soft moonlight. 

Sitting up, rubbing your eyes groggily as you try to regain your bearings. ‘My only off day and I slept it away?’ The rest was needed, but there were things you needed to do. Not conventionally fun for you, but now it was too late to turn down the invitation to a party you’ve already accepted. 

The scene was far from your type, never one for big social gatherings but at times being guilt tripped into going or calling yourself doing a favor for a friend by showing up. This party was no different, the knowledge that it would be held on the top plate made the circumstances slightly better. Still, there was no doubting it would be in one of the shadiest bars they could find. 

Keeping in mind that the “party” is supposed to be a small gathering. ‘Not how that usually works.’ You couldn’t push the reality of your upcoming night to the back of your mind. These gatherings always ended in some sort of rowdy fashion. 

Lazily climbing off of the couch and making your way to the bedroom with the half hearted intent of getting dressed, piecing together an outfit that you found to be suitable enough for a night full of unexpected turns. Looking over the outfit choice you nod your head in agreement at your own lovely taste. ‘Yeah, I could get hoes in this or fight them. Choice is theirs.’ 

Passing through the bedroom, you enter the connected master bathroom. Setting the shower to the perfect temperature, hopping in and taking your sweet time to get ready in the hopes of arriving late. 

This gathering was just as insufferable as all of the others. Finding yourself nursing a drink by yourself at a table tucked away from the night’s rowdy events. You weren’t that insociable that you wouldn’t greet your friends, providing them with the bare minimum amount of conversation you could before quickly taking time to unwind away from everyone else. A few drinks would be sure to get you in a friendlier mood, at least that was the hope. 

As you tilt your head up to finish off your first drink your eyes couldn’t miss the unmistakably good looking man who happened to catch your attention. Not an occurrence you came across frequently, mainly lacking interest when it came to messing around with people in general. However you could appreciate eye candy when you spot it. He seemed a bit overdressed for a bar like this. Despite it being on the top plate it was far from the nicest bar around.

Clad in a fairly expensive looking black suit, red dress shirt adding on to his already sharp looks.  Reddish brown hair stood out to you, tall and perfect ocean blue eyes to top off a very well put together…‘SOLDIER’ 

The mako glow of his eyes becomes more prominent as you examine the mystery man. Seeing him gave you a deja vu like sensation, you were unable to put your finger on it, but you were positive you’ve seen this guy before. As you were lost in thought checking out a total stranger, you didn’t have much time to tear your eyes away as he met your gaze.  

Now that he’s caught you red-handed it seems as though you’ve acquired his attention. Mako blue eyes grazing over your features making you squirm in your seat. ‘Fuck, now he’s coming over here’

If your OC were to dress up to show themselves off to their best advantage, perhaps for an existing partner, or in the hopes of attracting positive attention, what might they wear?

We all know who Zell's existing partner is, so let me just break down how he goes about Ruining Daeran's Life.

Zell would play on the courtly sensibilities Daeran introduced to their little situation. There is a very 'look but do not touch' interplay going on with them, therefore Zell's main goal would be making him want to touch without being too obvious about it; subtlety to counter Daeran's theatrics. Invitation and enticement rather than bombastic overture.

Naturally, the outfit would be preceded by a bath and doing something with his hair. If he couldn't get the same kinds of herbs Daeran had procured, he'd go for something like cedar and juniper to evoke a similar effect. His hair would be neatly plaited into a single braid, but the end would be ribboned in such a way that anyone daring enough to get close could pull on the end and undo the braid.

Instead of going for flash accessories or something flamboyant, Zell would dress down significantly. His usual traveling gear is eye-catching, showy, and oversized to make him look more intimidating, but made of very practical materials. For this he'd reverse it: Simple shirt, trousers, and boots - but the materials would be exquisite. Silk-cashmere blend for the shirt, crushed velvet trousers, kid leather boots; all tailored. The tailoring would be especially important - he knows Daeran would spot the difference.

The capstone of the outfit would be a heavy, comfortable cloak with enough drape to let someone catch a glimpse of what he's wearing, but one would have to be deliberate about getting at what's underneath.

As previously stated, there would be no flash accessories here. Just the key necklace (naturally); his belt buckle would be fashioned to look like a rose. As for whether he'd have an actual rose on his person - technically yes, if you count the lip balm he made from distilling petals months prior. What I'm saying is this man is premeditating a murder.

Would your OC be happy to be given flowers by an admirer or partner? What would be their favourite to receive?

Zell adores receiving flowers, and roses happen to be his favorite. (Amusingly, this was a thing long before I rolled him for Wrath of the Righteous, so That Scene pretty much clinched the romance.)

Flower gifting is important to Zell on a personal level as well as a romantic one. Growing up in Hongli it was common to bring flowers - both decorative and useful - as a gift when visiting someone. He had a hobby of pressing samples brought by distant friends and family when he was a younger child. Nowadays he will take cuttings from campgrounds or significant places he's visited in the Worldwound. He tries to cultivate from these, so he can keep the unique new plants thriving.

He also makes it a point to leave rose cuttings in certain secret places when he revitalizes the land.

Receiving the gift of roses from Daeran completely threw him, to be fair. He appreciated it both as a truly funny harmless prank, and as a genuinely thoughtful gift. He hadn't told anyone his favorite flower, or even that he'd be the kind of person who would enjoy them, but to walk into his usually cold, austere office to see it just bursting with flowers was pretty excellent experience, actually. Second only to seeing how pleased and smug his friend looked giving him such a silly present, and have it be well received.

Would your OC ever be confident in making the first move? Or do they prefer to wait for the other person to do so? If they are in a relationship then who made the first move in that instance?

That all depends on the situation and what you consider a 'first move.' Zell is a flirt AND a slut who's comfortable with being assertive if it's a completely casual thing - but anyone propositioning him would have to be straightforward about their intentions to fuck or else he'll just be yes-anding whatever banter gets thrown at him until last call. That's why he likes flirting with Daeran early on; the idea that it would turn into anything more serious seemed completely off the table. Live and learn, amirite?

In the very rare instance where he's romantically interested in someone, he's much more subtle about it unless he's absolutely, unquestionably certain it's reciprocated. Even then, he prefers to make his interest known and open things up for the other partner to take the next step. Relationships make him wary, primarily because it's rare to find someone who doesn't go in on either the sexy vampire crap or the gods-touched hero nonsense. He's much more into someone who would pay attention to what he's really about, rather than what reputation or stereotype precedes him.

So who really made the first move between them?

What was your OC most surprised to find out about themselves in terms of sex and/or romance? Or perhaps what will they be surprised about in the future?

Zell has always been a huge brat, but has never been in a situation where he's forced to concede an argument and then gotten rewarded for it.

This is a scene that exists entirely in my head, related to the mask answer from that other ask game. Mid-act 3, after the birthday party, but just before the Notadate. During a particularly heated argument about the beloathed 'muzzle,' Zell finally agrees to put the thing away permanently. Daeran's responds to the concession with 'good boy' and carries on as if he didn't just blow an entire city block worth of Zell's praise kink into orbit. Was it intentional on Daeran's part? (yes) Probably.

That alchemizes with his growing knightly devotion to everything Daeran has going on and. Let's just say he's not too pissed off at Harmattan when all that comes out in the wash. He gets it, okay?

Is there a couple who your OC views as having a particularly healthy or admirable relationship? Would they hope to emulate this kind of relationship?

Hands down, it's got to be Anevia and Irabeth. To be fair they're one of the few canon examples of a living couple we interact with more than once so it's not really a fair pool but even so.

Zell appreciates how different Irabeth and Anevia are as people, while still having no problem completely having each other's back. The love and trust between them is so obvious, but it especially hit him after coming back from the Abyss and hearing that they'd agreed to be parted again, even after they'd been torn apart by circumstance twice before. That GOT him. A love that doesn't smother, that trusts, that's built on years of understanding; isn't concerned with anyone else's opinions, just genuine. To him, that is the stuff that works.

Ego

Leading Se

The SEE is always present in the here and now. An SEE knows exactly which relations he has influence over at the moment, and exactly how much influence he has (i.e. how far can he "push"). If an SEE wants someone that he does not "have", he can spend lots of time thinking about how to get it. The SEE finds it hard to be content with what he has.

SEEs are quick to notice confrontational behavior. It is very obvious to an SEE when someone is displaying aggression, even in the most subtle passive-aggressive fashion. Confrontational behavior does not phase the SEE, whether his reaction is to respond with confrontation or hostility himself, creating an outwards appearance of indifference and unimpressiveness, or trying to calm down the offender/make them feel guilty. The various means available to the SEE to achieve the above goals are not nearly as important to the SEE as the end.

The SEE is motivated on some level in all of his affairs towards his goal of exclusiveness. He prefers to be in as high of a position of demand and respect as possible. It fills the SEE with joy to be have many different people competing for his attention and affection. Such a scenario reassures the SEE with the fact that he has been doing things right and that his hard work has paid off. Thus the SEE is often found surrounded by a large circle of friends and romantic interests.

An SEE views material objects as well as people in terms of how they can be used to achieve his goals. Upon losing a superficial friendship or a materialistic object, the SEE is sentimental only in terms of how it affects what he is currently striving for. For example, SEE would not see much point in being in the middle of the nowhere by himself with lots of gold and other showy yet useless objects. These things might only be important to him in regards to how they make other people think about him, or how it would indicate his status.

With extroverted sensing as his base, the SEE would much prefers to be a "go getter," out doing things as opposed to thinking about what he could be doing.

Creative Fi

An SEE usually knows exactly how to make other people feel a certain way. This ability increases its power dramatically the more time he spends with a person. He can offer genuine, believable praise to an individual he wants to reward, and likewise can make a person very upset and/or ashamed in themselves. However, if an offender changes their ways in favor of the SEEs point of view, the SEE will be quick to reward the offender with praise, and appreciation, treating them like a good friend. Moral ground to an SEE completely depends on the situation and is anything but set in stone (hence the creative function).

"Fake niceness" rarely fools an SEE. The SEE can easily tell whether a person is being genuine or just selfishly trying to fulfill their own needs.

The SEE can easily create sentiments of closeness and kinship, only to completely change these sentiments down the road. An SEE could be hanging out with a person (A) and act like the person's best friend, yet talk with another friend (B) and show sentiments of extreme distaste towards person 'A' in order to gain acceptance with 'B'. Sometimes if person 'A' and 'B' are together at a social function, the SEE will either have to pick sides or can treat both relations with acceptance and feelings of kinship. This can cause quite a bit of confusion in regards to the SEE's "true loyalties." The SEE prefers to maintain the respect and appreciation of his relations if at all possible. He knows that if he has an ally in many different groups, it will be harder for his enemies in said groups to act against him for fear of retribution from his other allies.

An SEE has the ability show up in a group of strangers and act like a long lost friend, gaining acceptance and trust of the group very quickly. He can quickly charm this group with his well-bred manners, genuine displays of like/dislike, and sometimes risky humor. When the SEE leaves, he can find out through his inside sources that he was the "talk of the town" after he left, much to the delight of the SEE.

Super-Ego

Role Ne

SEE much prefers physical, tangible goals as opposed to abstract ideas. He appreciates those who are good at thinking about things to do, new ways to do things, and especially a unique activities to draw people together. However, the SEE does not hold these abilities in high regard in and of themselves, but only to the degree to which these ideas and strategies can be implemented to serve his ego block.

Distress associated with this function accounts for the SEE's preference to have his pursuits be visible, close, available, and within the reach of his influence. An SEE prefers to get the things he wants immediately and without compromose using his talents of willpower and interpersonal influence. An SEE finds it difficult to give up on a goal unless clear victory or defeat is at hand. He usually will not give up on a friendship, goal, or romantic relationship until he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt (preferably through "in person" experience) that there is no way possible to resurrect the situation in face of his losses.

Not much value is placed on simply "getting your feet wet," starting new projects, or trying new things just "for the sake of it." He much more prefers to think in terms of the long term gains of his actions.

When it comes to achieving a goal, the SEE prefers to be equipped for to deal with any problems that might arise and handle them as they come. This is much more natural to him than planning for and expecting specific possible difficulties or outcomes. This is based in the SEE's "try it out, do your best, and hope for the best" outlook on things.

SEEs are generally cautious and mistrustful of new ideas and behavior styles that they have not seen, heard of, or experienced before. When people act in strange, unseen ways, they often don't know what the person's true intentions are and may suspect that the other person is trying to trick them or play a joke on them. SEEs need to see how other people react to the person and his new information, views, or behavior in order to make a proper assessment.

SEE can become very upset when people are late for unclear reasons and behave in other independent and unpredictable ways. This gives them the feeling of hanging in the air and general uncertainty about the future. Being action oriented people, this is difficult to bear.

Vulnerable Ti

The SEE hates when other people infer or remind him that he's not doing what he "should be doing." This is in complete opposite to his preference of following his whims and doing what he wants when he wants it, with as little structure as possible.

They have trouble focusing on systematic decision making, sometimes leading to occasional large mistakes (e.g. an unnecessary, expensive purchase) that was not thought through. Such mistakes lead to shame, guilt, and disappointment within the SEE, although he does not broadcast these sentiments to many. SEE doesn't like having to weight out pros and cons or make the "right" or "proper" decision.

In regards to unsubstantiated, theoretical knowledge, the SEE can either accept the unproven parts in good faith, or he'll completely reject it as foolish, unnecessary, and unimportant.

The SEE can be afraid to make discussion about fields heavy in systematic knowledge, doubting his ability to convey such thoughts in a clear, composed, and valued manner.

Super-Id

Suggestive Ni

Being as the SEE is more of a day-to-day, moment to moment type of person, they can suffer great difficulty regarding the long term consequences of their actions. People who they respect as having a firm grasp of the unfolding of events are considered very helpful to the SEE. When the SEE brings such a person into their fold, much trouble and wasted time and energy can be avoided due to such foresight, as opposed to the SEEs usual "try everything and see what works" method of solving problems.

Mobilizing Te

The SEE likes to constantly be doing things, but not if they don't apply to the long term perspective. If it is suggested that something needs to be done to make a situation better, the SEE can implement such suggestion with boundless faith, energy, and enthusiasm if the suggestion comes from a trusted source. Their dual, the ILI, provides much-needed nourishment in this area of knowledge as the ILI strives to make practical, logical understanding of an unfolding situation. SEE gladly considers suggestions or modifications to the methods he proposes to for achieving his goals, especially if such advice comes from a trusted source.

Id

Ignoring Si

SEEs place little emphasis on this function despite having a strong sense of it. They prefer finding a state that is powerful or influential to one that is understated or nuanced. This often leads to an over-the-top attitude that can cause mutual disharmony because of their direct approach. They perceive this function but are unable to do much with regard to it and ignore it.

Knows exactly what is needed for an attractive, comforatable environment and is very good at evaluating this in present environments. If the SEE is "stuck" in a social environment he does not prefer, he can appear to enjoy it and get along with others well for a while, but he will soon become bored and feel a constant nagging in the back of his head to "get the f*** out of here!" In such a situation, he will look for the first excuse possible to exit the situation elegantly and preserve the good will of others towards him.

Demonstrative Fe

When amongst those he holds a superficial relationship with, the SEE is very adept at livening up the mood, energizing others, and getting people excited about something. It usually bores him to do so though, and he would not seek out the company of such people who require this kind of involvement on a regular basis.

There is a tendency for this type not to be phased by intense emotional situations. When others discuss "the horrible tragedy" of things, or lose control of their emotions, crying intensely and feeling sorry for themselves, the SEE realizes that these feelings are just temporary and inconsequential. During these brief periods where a friend is emotionally unstable and unable to take care of themselves, the SEE will tend to the real life aspect of things, keeping their feet on the ground and helping them with basic survival until this period passes.

After the function descriptions, we can add other interesting sections like "typical life problems of LSI and how to deal with them," "typical sentiments and life philosophy," etc.

Author’s note: First chapter of 2024!! Happy new year babes! So, unfortunately, the updates on the story won’t be very regular given it’s exam season and school is sucking the life out of me, but I will try my best to update as regularly as possible!

“I am so on the Messi hype train. Can’t imagine how buzzed I was when France started missing the penalties at the World Cup.”

“I thought you’d be more of a Ronaldo girl, given you live in Manchester.”

“My parents house is in London. That’s where I grew up. I moved to Manchester in 2022.”

“So, here’s a question for you. Where does the name ‘Chelsea’ come from? When Mase told me I was shocked.”

“So, my dad is a massive fan of the club. Always attending the games whether that’s Premier League, FA cup, Carabao cup, Champions league games, name it. He has pictures of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba on his office walls and replicas of signed shirts.”

“And then you were born, giving your father the perfect opportunity to name you Chelsea.”

“Exactly.”

“The name really suits you. Royal blue vibes. Which leads me to my next question, which club do you support?”

The drive to Manchester was one of the most enjoyable I’ve ever had, with Ben on the line, talking about our lives and getting to know each other. I feel like it would’ve been better if we were face to face but things have their time.

He was so keen on getting to know me better and I was too. I’ve been a fan of his for so many years, something I haven’t admitted yet, and learning more things about his life brings a smile to my face.

“A professional never reveals their favorite team. I have to remain unbiased, impartial and fair to every team.”

“But now you’re not being fair! Come on, it’s just the two of us. I swear I won’t tell a soul.”

“Look, here’s a deal. If you score a goal at the next match that I will happen to commentate on, I will tell you my favorite club. Deal?”

“Fine, you win. A goal for the club it is. You have a deal.” I can hear him groaning annoyed at the offer I made.

Sometimes life is not jolly for footballers either.

“It was lovely talking to you Benjamin. I have to go now unfortunately, just arrived home and I need to prepare my notes for Manchester’s next game.”

“Oh yes, I fully understand. I enjoyed our conversation and getting to know you better. Talk to you later, blue.” I smile at the nickname ‘blue’. It’s not the usual ‘chels’ but I very much like it.

When I open the door I instantly kick off my shoes and drop on the couch as if I am a human slushee. Every inch of my body hurts. And my heart as well. How can Jenson say such nasty things in front of my face?

Does he think I’m a slut? After all we’ve confessed to each other? Do these ‘I love you’s mean nothing to him?

“I love you and I appreciate your effort but no. We’ve been on a massive losing strike and I should be the one asking you to let me score a goal.”

“What if we both score? Game ends up 1-1, shared points?”

“Score all the goals you want against Palace all you want tomorrow. I’m sure she’ll be tuned in.”

“You can’t imagine how happy I was while we were talking. It felt good chatting again with a girl that was genuinely interested in getting to know me and not simply looking to fuck me.”

Being a footballer at the highest level, an England international and presumably one of the most handsome players in the league, can earn you the attention of many women. It’s just shame that most want to be with you simply for publicity reasons.

Chelsea was asking me questions that none of my previous girlfriends had ever bothered to ask me. What was my life in high school like? My favorite position to play in as a child? Favorite memory with friends from high school or teammates? I was stunned and touched by how much she was focused on detail.

“Chelsea is a good one. I’ll just warn you to be careful around the loverboy she’s with. Seems like a feisty one.”

“I wanna be her friend first and foremost. I want to get to know her and get close to her. It’ll be good to add another person to my inner circle and have a laugh with.”

Mason stops talking abruptly, I hear him opening his front door and quietly walking outside. He takes his keys with him and I am assuming he is afraid that something is going on.

"Everything okay mate?" I ask from the other line of the phone but Mason hushes at me really quickly.

"I can hear yelling from Chelsea's apartment. I can see two cars parked in front of her house, but I can't tell who is the person standing in front of her door."

"Is she alright? Is it her father?" worry rushes through me and my heartbeat is rising extremely fast.

"It looks like Jenson. Wait, I will call you back, I'm going here to help her get rid of him."

"I need to be alone right now Jense, what can't you understand?" It's incredible how I am literally begging for a few days of sanity.

"I can't live on the other side of England, knowing that my girlfriend is angry at me." The word 'girlfriend' almost made me throw up.

"I am not your girlfriend. You never asked me to be. You were the one who suggested we didn't put a label in our relationship and me being a classic idiot, I agreed" It should have been a warning sign that Jenson was not taking me as seriously as I thought.

"I thought that by saying 'I love you' to each other, this meant that our relationship was serious enough that we didn't have to labelize it."

"The moment you finally realise what I am to you, instead of just assuming, give me a call Jenson." I try to shut the door at his face but he holds it open with his arm. Fuck him.

"You have to be joking? Right? Come on Chels, don't act like a five year old." The moment those words left his mouth, I could have easily shed a river of tears but I had to show him that I wasn't as vulnerable as the current situation made me be.

Asking him to take me seriously is me acting like a kid? By that, he simply proves my point.

In the heat of the moment, before I could answer, Mason showed up, holding two bottles of wine, empty. I was kind of weird out by what he was trying to do. But I didn't question him.

"Hey, I am so sorry to interrupt, but you had promised to give me some of your cousin's wine. Guests are waiting." Mason said in a shyly manner, trying not to catch Jenson's attention too much.

"Oh yes, sorry, they are in my celery, let me bring them." I say, thankfully with the assistance of Mason and him using a very convincing lie.

"I will call you tomorrow Chelsea. You better pick up." Jenson's voice was extremely stern and all I did was nod to him. Not even a 'goodbye'. A simple head movement.

Jenson shut the door behind him and Mason let out a sigh of relief. He placed the bottles on the table and pulled out his phone to text someone, who ended up being Ben himself.

"Are you okay? The moment I heard screaming, I thought something was going on and we both got worried." My heart melted at the thought of two footballers and possible best mates of mine worrying about loud noises.

"Wait, who is we? Do you actually have guests?"

"No. I was on the phone with Ben when the yelling started. I told him about it and he got so worried that he was about to tell me to call the police."

Ben barely knows me 48 hours and yet he acts like the boyfriend Jenson isn't. Cares about me from distance and needs a double check from his friend.

"Thank you guys for everything. I don't know how to repay you. You saved a possible self invitation of Jenson at my house."

"It was nothing, Chels. We are friends. That's what we do. No need to repay us."

"Sure? If you need anything just tell me."

"Well, now that I am thinking about it, would you like to attend with me Chelsea vs Crystal Palace? Unless you're on the commentary box during the game."

"I won't be. Because the next day I will be commentating on United vs Fulham."

"Is that a yes then?"

"Definitely a yes!"

RWBY v9 e4 Thoughts and Analysis

Genuinely might be my favorite opening of the entire show. 

Also, genuinely, screw everyone who ever said Ruby didn’t have a character arc. 

RWBY is really, really good at keeping stories going in the background even as the main focus shifts around. So just...stop with that shit, okay? CRWBY are very particular with what they choose to do and when. Not everything's perfect, but if you get hung up on things you didn’t like from the past, you’ll never be able to fully appreciate what’s happening now. It’s always gonna bother you in the back of your mind. Ruby wasn’t always the most important person in the show. Let it go so you can talk about what led us here, to this exceptional story. We good? Good. 

“You do not go to the tree, the tree goes to you! Unless of course you’re me, you see?”

Yeah, so the Curious Cat (referred to as CC from here on out) is definitely in some position of authority in the Ever After, but they do not control it or anything like that. I suppose we shall find out their role soon enough. 

Regardless, it seems that the Tree decides when you’re ready to leave, not you. CC can bypass that it seems, but i doubt that will work for our heroes.

If the residents of the Ever After exist to facilitate a story, then the Tree will let them out when the story is done. 

Maybe the Ever After only rained when Ruby was sad (rather than, for instance, Weiss) because it’s deemed her the protagonist of the story that must reach it’s conclusion before RWBY and co are allowed to leave? Just a thought.

Also, Little does not have a history with CC like I thought they and the other mice might. However, that’s not to say CC liking to eat mice has no impact on whether the mice know what a cat is, especially since last week Little wasn’t even completely convinced they were a mouse.

It’s been said before, but CC really is a standout character. The design, the performance, the power set,  even the dialogue make literally everything about them engaging. As does, of course, the characterization, cuz this Cat is just as impossible as any cat irl. Now i actually like cats, but I’ll be the last one to say they don’t tend towards being completely absurd and impossible in their behavior

CC just takes that to the next level. Honestly though CC is basically just ADHD: the animal

Also roasting the gods is fun. Does seem like it’s clear that the Gods have nothing to do with the Ever After then, though, if CC both didn’t know and is super comfortable calling them out this way

We protect those who can’t protect themselves” Blake is really following in Ruby’s stead, this is literally the line Ruby gives her all the way back in volume 1 when they talk about their love of books. Of course, she’s doing it after going through all the healing Ruby hasn’t done yet.  It is cool to see this dichotomy of Blake stepping up and embodying what she valued in Ruby while Ruby becomes more like she was in volume 1 and 2

Also, I like that Ruby’s answer to “What does a huntress do” is “fight monsters”. it shows that she’s still thinking about things wrong

“In order to help you become whatever it is you need to become, you really ought to have a better understanding of what you are now”. Great line. Cuts straight to the heart of the issue.

So...the Red Prince used to be the Red King? And he became the Red Prince, perhaps because he didn’t understand who he was, and thus who he wanted to be wasn’t quite right? We’ll see. But clearly there’s a much more complicated transformation process that can happen here than we expected. Perhaps a far more literal one, as well.

“You don’t have to go forward you know. You could go back. Back to before.”

Before she lost her arm. It’s not about her arm though--it’s about everything. It’s about going back to what things were like before beacon fell. Going back to who she was like before beacon fell.

Yang is shocked--but she doesn't immediately reject the idea. Unlike Blake...

“You could just be human. Or just a cat. It’s up to you.”

“Why would i do that?”

“I told you. It’s simple. Much simpler than trying to be a bridge between human and faunus. Why struggle with that responsibility?”

So it’s clear now. The reason Blake wasn’t front and center on injustice during the Atlas arc. 

This is what she was struggling with. Well this, and taking the life of an actual living, breathing person

Doesn’t matter that it was Adam, he was still a person.

So for a couple volumes she just...stopped trying to be that bridge. Focused on proving to her loved ones that she had grown, and that she wouldn’t run away again. Showing them--and especially Yang--that she loved them.

God i’m so proud of these girls. This is such a beautiful scene. It’s so well directed, so well written, and there’s so much we can all learn from it, purely on an emotional growth level..

And then we come to Ruby. And unlike her friends, she doesn’t have it in her to reject the part of herself that appears here. Instead, she gets this brutal face-to-face with all of her worst insecurities, worst impulses, all her imposter syndromes and her habit of putting everything on her own shoulders. honestly this section deserves a deep dive all its own.

“You don’t even have to be Ruby Rose. So. Who are you gonna be?” 

Ruby is gonna go through a major transformation this volume. I can only hope it’s the one she needs.

I’m really curious why exactly CC was so angry about what Herb was doing. What exactly did he do wrong? Hopefully we will find out tomorrow. 

the “That’s a bit much” lien from herb intrigues me though.  Was he affected by the pain the girls--and Ruby in particular--were being forced to confront?

This will be a loooooong post, so answered under the 'read more' line~

💗 - How long does it take your muse to fall in love? This varies based on A LOT of factors. Vladimir, by default, is extremely distrusting towards other people, for any purpose of a relation with them. To him, they always seem to want something from him; whether that be power, favour or to gain his trust to then later use anything they can gain against him or to increase their own position in the world. With that in mind, it can take ages, for him to open up and consider anything in the terms of romantic emotions.

💝 - What's their love language? Physical touch, gifts and words of affirmation are the most notable ones from Vlad. Those that grow to have an emotional bond will be met with all of those on a regular basis. This does not mean the other two love languages: acts of service and quality time, never happen. But they are less prominent when dealing with him. He is by no means negligent towards any potential partner, but at the same time also is a very independent individual and does appreciate his own personal affairs and time and will be very adamant in keeping those.

💘 - What traits personality-wise are attractive to your muse? First and foremost honesty is extremely important to him. He may be many things, but dishonest is not one of those. He will not lie in any situation. Withhold the truth? Perhaps, but lying is out of the question for him. His past experiences have grimly taught him the repercussions of being lied to. Confidence and ambition are also something he appreciates in others. The will to further ones self and the courage and intelligence to back it up. To not be stagnant in life, but move forward.

❤ - What's something you feel like your muse needs to work on for a relationship to happen or for a relationship to be healthy? Do you think that's possible? Or is it something that'll likely never happen? His demeanour towards trusting others. While it is expected from someone who has been betrayed many a time in the past, the level of distrust he can hold is often too much to get past in an acceptable time. He would have to come to accept that sometimes there are people that genuinely do not intent to use him for their own gain. It would definitely make him open up quicker and not push people away. But he's a stubborn man after all. One that survived over a millennia on this method.

💌 - How would they confess to their love interest? Would they wait on a confession? Vlad is the type of man who doesn't waste time around with being embarrassed or waiting around for reciprocation. If such a situation would come to happen, he would most likely be very direct about how he feels. He would not demand or require an immediate response, remaining realistic how tedious and time-consuming such a realisation can be to have a shift in feelings towards another. He knows full well how he himself can be at times, after all. Even if he disregards responsibility towards it at times.

🎀 - Do they aim to impress their partner often? If they do, how so? Oh most definitely not. He abhors showboating and intentionally impressing others to attempt to gain affection or attention. He holds the opinion that any partner would already know of his qualities and skills, so there would be no need to try and impress them. However, he does not know how to tone himself down. So often any act he does do might be interpreted as exactly that which he does not intend.

💓 - What are some signs your muse has fallen for someone? His behaviour would change, albeit in the slightest of ways. Someone that he falls for will be deemed more respectable in treatment. A good example would be how he has the tendency to call others child, boy or girl, due to his age. Slowly that would start to cease. Also he would be more direct in his attention towards them. Listening more intently, looking directly at them or in their eyes. Slowly but surely along the process would come the use of nicknames, pet names, in the many languages he is fluent in. both in use and forgotten. While he always maintains the habit of using endearing words like 'my dear', 'darling', 'my boy/girl'; whenever he would say anything of that category, emotion lingering to those words would become more notable. More... genuine.

First impression

Aymeric: “WHY IS HE SO PRETTY? He’s evil, he’s absolutely evil. There’s no way he’s not, he’s pretty and is in a position of power.” followed by you and red assuring me he’s not, and me very rapidly falling head over heels for him.

G'raha: This one’s a bit of a cheat since I knew most of his spoilers through art and comics well before I got into FFXIV, but my first impression of him in game in the Crystal Tower raid was “Oh my god, he’s a playful nerd and a snarky little shit. I love him, no wonder he’s popular.” (followed by being informed that most people liked him because of Shadowbringers, and didn’t really care for him in ARR which I was very indignant about. He’s just as fun in ARR as he is in ShB and beyond.)

Thancred: word for word “..... whomst is the pretty boy with silver hair in the main quest line? He's snarky, I like him.” And that very quickly jumped to “Oh I love him, he’s great.” and getting very excited whenever he showed up. There’s a reason he’s Etheria’s love interest from 1.0 - the end of ARR (when he decides to be an IDIOT alongside Y’shtola and they never recover because Heavensward happens). But I loved him from the beginning. The “flirty idiot is actually super badass spy faking it to get info” is one of my favorite tropes, so he hit just right from the get go. The fact that you could just barely see the switch from when he went from flirting to catch their attention to actively wheedling info from them just made it so fun. He doesn’t do that much anymore - he’s switched to a more serious way of spy networking (not that we ever get to see it) - but it was fun to watch in 1.0 and ARR.

Yusuke: My first impression that he was a pretty boy with no respect for boundaries or understanding of social cues. Awkward dork who didn’t know how to emote, and was almost certainly neurodivergent and horribly abused. Which I mean. Yeah.

Demyx: “I HATE HIM SO MUCH, HE’S SO STUPID JUST DIE ALREADY.” - yelled by my small child self before rage quitting Kingdom Hearts entirely for like, three years. Baby me did not understand the concept of leveling or properly equipping accessories, RPGs were just games where you hit things until they died. Once I came back to KH when I was a bit older and knew how to play I beat him on the first try and he quickly became my favorite Organization member for years. 

Impression now

Aymeric: I love and adore him, he’s so good. Someone please rescue this man from his office, I don’t think he’s eating or sleeping. He’d rather be anywhere else, adventuring with us, but he’d never turn his back on his duty. Someone take over for a week and give him a vacation. I’ll take him adventuring somewhere. It’ll be fun. (They won’t and he won’t, but I can dream…) But in all seriousness, he’s a wonderful character with fascinating backstory and political drama around him, and the fact that he’s remained a genuinely good and caring person despite Ishgard’s everything is incredibly impressive and is proof of how strong of a person he is.

G'raha: He’s still a fun dork! More mature and a little softer than in ARR, but that dorkiness and mischief and troublemaking are still there underneath it - he’s just been forced to rapidly assimilate a couple centuries worth of horror and misery and desperate fragile hope in the form of his future self’s memories so he’s not as carefree as he was. He’s not sad and tired like the Exarch was though - and I really like the dichotomy of it. It’s not a clean cut “oh yeah, they’re basically separate people” or “yeah he’s just past G’raha with his future self’s memories/the Exarch in his younger body” it’s… something a little in the middle. He’s more G’raha in some ways, more Exarch in others, and it’s not always easy to tell which has more influence, and I really love that - and I appreciate Endwalker calling attention to it.

Thancred: I still love and adore him so much. He’s so good. Went from big brother shaped for Minfilia to dad shaped for Ryne (and a little bit for Gaia, though we left before that could really happen). Self-sacrificing idiot, he’s almost as bad as Y’shtola and WoL about the “one death an expac” scares - ARR horrified me, and EW gave me a heart attack. SB and ShB weren’t as bad because I didn’t believe it for a second that he was dead, but they still gave me some unpleasant anxiety over his well-being. He cares so much, too, about everyone and it’s wonderful.

Yusuke: I still like him! He’s an interesting character to explore, and his dynamic with the others is fun. He’s not my favorite, but that partially because characters who kind of revolve around running gags tend no to be - he’s got a couple that the game uses a lot in the main line story, and I feel like it detracts a bit from some of his more serious moments? He can be serious, but outside of his Confidant everything after Madarame’s Palace feels a bit like his character is mostly used for comedy. Striker’s helped a lot with that, but… it just feels like there were a lot of missed opportunities for good character moments later on - especially with Haru and Akechi, and I’m not sure he ever really got full closure with Madarame.

Demyx: He’s still one of my favorites, but he’s fallen to the backburner a bit because I’m just waiting increasingly impatiently to ACTUALLY GET BACKSTORY. GIVE ME THE LORE NOMURA. I’VE CHANGED MY HCS FOR HIM FOUR TIMES NOW. I THOUGHT HE WAS UX, THEN I THOUGHT HE WAS DR. HE WAS NOT. SO IS HE MISSING LINK OR IS HE QUADRATUM. GIVE ME A N S W E R S

Favorite moment

Aymeric: Oh god I have to choose? There are so many. The first moment that he got to me was around Snowcloak, his “There are those who believe that faith is a renunciation of free will - that unquestioning devotion is required of all those who would live a life in service to the Fury. Such righteous fervor may well serve a knight on the front line - less so a leader of men. We are all at liberty to interpret the scriptures as we will. I choose to believe that the Fury would value the lives of Her followers over the deaths of her enemies.” THAT was what made me fall for him. Then there was his low-key dressing down of Alphinaud, “Do you know what sort of man becomes lord commander of the Temple Knights? One who comes from good stock. I did not, yet here I am. Now why do you think that is? Because I swiftly learned to tell the difference between words, deeds, and beliefs.” It’s great. So good. I love him. AND THAT’S JUST ARR. HW has so many good moments - his belief in us when we bring back Hraesvelgr’s story, his fury and indignation at the Archbishop for the lies to their people, his grief over Haurchefant, his parlay with the dragons, his speech to the people convincing them of the peace treaty, convincing Hraesvelgr to help… and then Stormblood has one of my favorite moments with him. The way he comes sprinting to your room the moment he hears that you’ve woken, and the sheer relief when he sees you alright… top tier fantastic. Especially when you add in his fond exasperation with Estinien. OH RIGHT AND THE HW SCENE WHERE HE’S CARRYING ESTINIEN FROM THE BRIDGE. It’s so good. He’s so good.

G'raha: Oh where to start. Crystal Tower is very well done by ARR standards, G’raha is such a fun and compelling character. His intro is great - the mischief, the drama, and his little grin when he finally introduces himself, it’s fun (I really loved his little prank/mischief making, though I’ve seen a lot of people who thought it was annoying which I still don’t understand). That shot where he walked into the tower as it closed made me tear up - it was so good even though it hurt. And then ShB, oh man his moments. That conversation with Vauthrey was nice, and the little trick with the glamour made me cackle, it was great. The “reveal” scene was amazing and awful. The scene post-Amaurot was beautiful. 5.3 was heart-wrenching from beginning to end, but the very last scene was… honestly very very close to my favorite. His stand and taking charge in Radz-at-Han was also amazing, but… honestly I don’t think anything can compare to his little speech in Ultima Thule. It’s just too good - a little philosophical and a lot heartfelt. It’s perfect.

Thancred: Oh noooo my favorite moment… honestly it might be weird to put it, but his post-Ifrit scene in Minfilia’s office in ARR is still one of my favorites. The quiet vulnerability and grief as he dropped his mask stabbed me right in the heart. It was such a simple and quiet scene, but it was so, so good. The fight with Ranjit is so so good, I love it so much, and the naming of Ryne scene is just… top tier. And Endwalker. That scene in Thavnair where he and Estinien are talking about Fandaniel, and nihilistic despair… It’s hard to say what my favorite is. There’s so many good ones.

Yusuke: Hmmmm he has several good ones as well, but both his awakening scene and the final confrontation against Madarame are tied for me. They’re both excellent, and really show off his raw, unfiltered emotions.

Demyx: Oh man the fight in KH2 is still one of my favorite parts of the game. For a flight that made me rage quit when I was little, it’s a lot more fun now (well. regular fight. his data fight not so much.) But the actual narrative part of it is so, so good. Demyx really shows his full character off in them. He genuinely tries to reason with Sora - it’s not his fault Sora didn’t get Roxas’ memories. But when Sora completely shuts him down, the switch flips and he goes “Fine then.” Secret badass who acts like an idiot until they have reason to stop pretending is my favorite trope, and Demyx definitely hinted at it in that fight. Also his line “Oh, we do too have hearts.” I know a lot of people say he was just deflecting to throw Sora off, but I really think he noticed and just… no one would believe him so he just shrugged and went whatever. He wasn’t gonna fight about it. But that whole scene before and after the fight are my absolute favorite moments of him.

Idea for a story

Aymeric: Aymeric will get a vacation, he will get a break and let the four houses run things for a week, Artoriel can run damage control for a week. Etheria’s going to take him on an adventure, it’ll be fun. Estinien and G’raha will probably dragged into it somehow. Aymeric will get to be a normal adventurer for a week, and get a break from politics to help people hands-on for once.

G'raha: We are going to establish a transportation connection with the First so G’raha, Thancred, and Y’shtola can see Lyna, Ryne, and Runar again. I just want a story of the Scions finally getting to return to the First, and for G’raha and the people of the Crystarium to interact with G’raha just being G’raha, without the mantle of the Exarch weighing him down. I want to see the nostalgia of him looking around talking to people, and the awkwardness of them not knowing how to address him while he tries to bite back the urge to give advice and recommendations about setting up the new government or cleaning up the world. He’s trying so hard not to take command again, and they’re trying not to put him in the position of command. Just… exploring the relationships of him and the First post-EW, and how they relax and find the balance. Not to mention everyone reacting to G’raha being an absolute dork, excitably chasing down adventure with Etheria and the other Scions with an eagerness that’s as endearing as it is different.

Thancred: So I know I've talked about this before, but I really want to write a fic where WoL's light blast in ARR untempers Lahabrea - but also somehow intertwines his and Thancred's souls so he's still stuck in Thancred's body. So now they have to learn to deal with each other, while Lahabrea feels saner and more stable than he has in several thousand years - plus he's completely cut off from Zodiark and he isn't quite willing to damage Thancred's soul further by trying to take control again, or accidentally destroy both their souls trying to escape. Lahabrea just "12,000 years. 12,000 years and it's come to this." Thancred is displeased and has to come to terms with this now, while trying not to panic Lahabrea still being there. It would certainly make everything after that more interesting.

Yusuke: I know there's a ton of these out there, but I really want to eventually write Yusuke painting the Thieves. Just a series of vignettes of him painting them truly as he sees them.

Demyx: I want to eventually write some of his time in the Organization, plus KH2 and 3, from his perspective. I'm waiting until we actually find out who the hell he is, but I really want to see his perspective on things.

Unpopular opinion

Aymeric: Hmmm I don't think I have any? No one's really said anything about him that I don't agree with.

G'raha: Potentially setting some fires here, but he's really not "uwu softboi wol simp". He's just… I know the fandom likes to make him this helpless simp, yaoi uke stereotype to the max, but he's not. He's very much his own person with his own strengths and personality, and while we might be an important part of his world we aren't the only important thing at the center of it. He's helping Krile rebuild the Students of Baldesion, and everything that comes with that. He might drop everything to rush to our aid should we need it, but he's not with us all the time because he does have other priorities. Personally I'm glad they're fleshing him out and giving him time to be his own character away from us. Characters whose entire personality and character revolve around the protagonist are boring.

Thancred: The playboy flirt act from ARR could not more obviously be an act. He drops it so fast in some scenes, why are people taking it at face value. Thancred is a walking guilt-complex with paranoid anxiety who puts on an act to get information and hide his emotions so he doesn't have to deal with them. This shouldn't be an unpopular opinion since it's literally canon - I'm almost positive all of this is stated in tact at one point or another - but I see people's takes ignoring this every time I go into his tags so I guess it is.

Yusuke: His gags, while amusing at first, get used too often, to a degree that it detracts a bit from his character. Not all of them! The awkward artist and the shenanigans therein are usually good for his character and can reveal a lot, but the "useless with money" thing stops being funny when no one addresses it seriously. If it were a gag that everyone was actively trying to teach him and he kept forgetting over something ridiculous I'd be fine with it, but the Thieves just roll their eyes and ignore it, which makes no sense and turns it from funny into concerning. I think it'd even be fine if they'd just stuck to one gag like most characters, but they gave Yusuke multiple and it just… it overshadows the rest of his character sometimes.

Demyx: oh don't even get me started. First of all the MoM theory makes no sense. It just doesn't. It serves no purpose from a narrative standpoint, and actively undercuts several other ongoing arcs in ways that wouldn't make sense for any of the characters (Luxu, primarily, but also Sora, Xehanort, potentially Luxord, and to a degree even Darkness.) I also don't think he's actually as much of a lazy idiot as he acts. There are times where he's downright scary - that fight in KH2 had a lot of undertones that haven't quite been addressed, but KH3 sure hinted at them with that line "I can be extremely imposing - when I want to be." That line was very validating after believing for years that he was a lot more dangerous than he presented himself - his attitude switch with that "Silence, traitor." was telling.

Favorite relationship

Aymeric: Okay as much as I love his relationship with both Lucia and Artoriel, and as fascinating as it is with Haurchefant, Estinien has to take number one (granted I’m not counting WoL into these, because I’m biased so it would be a given). He and Estinien have been best friends for over a decade, and it’s clear in every interaction - or even just how they talk about each other - how much they care for each other. It’s really nice to see, plus the little hints of them teasing each other (the fact that Aymeric actually wears the elephant costume…) even while they fiercely defend each other (Estinien snapping at our group for talking about rumors of Aymeric being a bastard, outright denying it, even though he knows it’s true, because he refuses to not defend his friend). They have so much care and trust for each other, even if we only see glimpses of it.

G'raha: Again excluding WoL, I have to say probably either Alisaie or Krile. He and Alisaie are such adorable friends - Alisaie mocks him mercilessly, but is the first to yell at him for putting himself in harm’s way even as the Exarch. And he doesn’t respond overmuch verbally to her teasing, but he does seem to lean into it and take it positively. He also tends to turn to her first of the Scions (aside from us) from what I can tell - though how much of that is friendliness and how much of it is concern for her aggressive recklessness I’m not sure. He and Krile have a long relationship as Students of Baldesion together (I mean she calls him Raha, come on), and every scene they’re in is also her teasing him and him shrugging it off casually. But it’s clear how much they respect each other, and it’s fun to see their relationship and speculate how they came to be friends.

Thancred: Ryyyynnneeee. Hands down, it’s so cute. He and Urianger are really sweet too, they obviously care a lot for each other, but… he loves her so much. It’s clear how much he adores her, and though he has a lot of trouble showing it for the first part of ShB, once his wall finally cracks and he’s willing to be honest with her it’s so, so clear how much he loves her. If we’d gotten to see more of it Ascilia/Minfilia might have been a contestor as well, but we never really got to see their relationship honestly - it was always through the lens of being a Scion. The hints of it were there, but what little we saw can’t stand up to what we saw between Thancred and Ryne in ShB.

Yusuke: Hmm it has to be either Akira or Futaba, because they’re both great. He and Futaba’s teasing and snarking each other is always fun, and it’s nice to see them bring out the quirky, argumentative sides of each other. His relationship with Akira is a lot more low-key, generally, unless he’s in full art mode in which that case his full eccentrics make their appearance. But even then, their relationship is generally very supportive and heartfelt and honest, and I really enjoy that. His relationship with Ryuji is also great, though we never get to really see much of it.

Demyx: lol what relationships, that would require screentime. But in all seriousness, I really like the potential of his relationship with Zexion/Ienzo - partially due to some interesting fics I’ve found over the years exploring their potential relationship as the youngest members of the Organization who don’t get taken entirely seriously. In terms of canon relationships we actually see, probably Vexen/Even. Their interactions in KH3 were hilarious, and certainly set the stage for some very interesting interactions going forward.

Favorite headcanon

Aymeric: If he had his way he’d happily give his position over to the four houses, ensure Ishgard was stable and would continue being stable, and then “retire” to being an adventurer with the WoL. If he could have gotten away with it, he’d have joined the Scions with Estinien in a heartbeat. He knows he can’t, but he can’t help the quiet yearning to escape his office and position of responsibility and take up arms with them. (He just wants to spend time with the people he loves and go on adventures. It’s selfish to consider, perhaps, but he’d be satisfied with that if he knew Ishgard would be safe and well.)

G'raha: G’raha doesn’t regret what’s happened to him, what he’s been through, and he wouldn’t erase it even were he given the opportunity. He may question who he was, doubt his own identity and sense of self at times, but he wouldn’t change it for a moment. He has too many memories of those he left behind in that broken timeline, and then the many he both saved and failed upon the First. He wouldn’t give those up for the world, no matter the pain or doubt they may bring.

Thancred: He remembers everything that happened while being possessed by Lahabrea. He doesn’t like it, and will deny that he remembers until his dying breath, but he absolutely does and he hates it. It was why he was so miserable in the latter half of ARR - not only was he responsible for the loss of over half the Scions, he was forced to watch it happen in front of him, and despite how much he fought and struggled he couldn’t break free of Lahabrea’s hold. He still hasn’t really forgiven himself for failing there.

Yusuke: Yusuke is ace and autistic, I will die on this hill. He doesn’t realize how things sound a lot of the time when he says something that could be taken the wrong way, and when someone points it out to him he’s usually “??? that’s ridiculous. please alter your world view to something less presumptuous.” He hyperfocuses far too easily and will forget to eat and sleep, to the point Futaba and the Thieves have alarms on their phones as a reminder to check in on him, and occasionally make sure he’d eaten that day. Futaba will hack his phone alarm, turn it all the way up, and then blare the most obnoxious music she can find to break him out of his focus.

Demyx: I have THREE DIFFERENT BACK STORIES WRITTEN FOR THIS ASSHOLE. He started off as being from Atlantica, then he was a Keykid in Anguis, then he was an upperclassmen of Xehanort and Eraqus. Right now I'm theorizing him as Yozora's Prompto that we didn't see in the Verum Rex trailer BUT WHO KNOWS. His relationship with Zexion in the Organization was mostly a series of trades, barters, bribery, and perhaps a little blackmail. Zexion was willing to let him hide from Saix or his missions in his labs - but Demyx had better have something to offer him for the invasion of space. Be it materials from off-world, retrieving something for him, or letting him run some tests on a magical theory he had, Demyx generally bribed his way into Zexion’s good graces. It’s created a bit of an awkward relationship post-3 - neither of them is sure how maintain a “normal” relationship of being friends because they’ve been cohorts at best the past several years. It’s taking some adjustment, and Demyx still tends to low-key bribe Ienzo into tolerating his presence. Ienzo doesn’t mind Demyx hanging around nearly as much as he did as Zexion, but… well he’s not one to say no to a perfectly good - and useful - bribe.
