The Council of Optimuses: Pleasant, generally positive, they exiled Bayverse a while ago but they still check in once in a while to make sure he's ok/out of curiosity, Earthspark enables One's 'I can fix him' delusion to the point that Prime is falling into it too, IDW does NOT want to add to the delusion pile so he shuts up, Cyberverse kinda doesn't want to be at this meeting it feels too much like a party, IDW keeps making calls to somebody but he won't tell anyone who, they used to have 'bring your Bumblebee to work day' but Skybound had a breakdown over it so they can't do that anymore, everybody is suspicious of Skybound's new arm but the only person who actually brought it up was Bayverse whose solution was 'kill him' so now everybody thinks they are getting paranoid and should maybe start seeing a therapist (they should start seeing therapists, but they ARE right about the arm).

The Council of Megatrons: They are having a great time even if it looks horrible from the outside looking in, Prime constantly wants to fight IDW for his spot as the strongest Megatron but IDW is not about that, they tried to kick out Earthspark but he somehow keeps getting in (IDW leaves the door open), One has like 5 devils on his shoulder telling him to escalate and two fallen angels who are desperately trying to get across that maybe total destruction isn't the move, IDW is trying to hide his redemption arc in order to keep the situation under control (only Earthspark is aware of it, though Skybound has his suspicions), Cyberverse always tries to kill the others to take over their universes and it's the highlight of everybody's month, Bayverse is mocked for being killed by Optimus but secretly everybody is kinda jealous about it (Prime especially), one time an unidentified Starscream (it was Animated) broke in and it was on sight (he got away because every Megatron wanted to be the one who killed him and they fought each other over it), IDW keeps taking calls from somebody but he won't tell anyone who, Skybound can listen in on his Optimus's meetings due to being his arm and reports back, there is an ongoing debate about whether Galvatrons should be included.

Rewatching Gumball is knowing that while there is no actual real overarching plot the episodes are still so amazingly interconnected.

I love how they do foreshadowing, how they build on little moments that we see through out other episodes. It's Banana joe's mom's future paintings being a small joke in "The Shell". Rob being in the deleted place with all the forgotten things in "The Void" after we see that Gumball and Darwin have a hard time remembering him and then completely forget him once Darwin kicks him into the sewers a whole season earlier in "The Pony". He then literally still has parts of the void ingrained in his design when he comes back. It's the fact that Penny and her family being hollow shells with something inside was being played as haunting jokes for episodes before the one based entirely around it. It's the fact that characters like Sarah have always been a little fourth wall breaky and so an episode like "The Fan Fiction" is so completely in line with her character that it's unremarkable in context, hell there's an episode where she sings the ending song to end the show and avoid an awkward conversation her being able to take some control of the show feels like the natural evolution of that.

The background characters in gumball have such distinct personalities that have been pretty consistent and built upon since season 2 which is completely insane and unprecedented for an episodic 2010 children's cartoon. The show might not have had an arc but it has always been continuous.

You do really get the sense that this is a world where everyone is very hyper-aware of the rules in which they operate. The show might reset at the end of the episode but the people don't

watching people discover the fucked up science guy part of viktor's lore and then being like "we need to acknowledge that he's a fucked up science guy 😔" is so funny. like yeah, he is a fucked up science guy who thinks ethics committees are bullshit because in his mind having rights temporarily violated is perfectly fine if it means saving lives—especially when the ones condemning his beliefs don't offer what they consider to be an ethical alternative to fix the problem and simply let it continue to exist.

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who experimented on himself following a, quote: traumatic period of introspection. he had a mental breakdown, fell into a major depressive episode, and spending this horrible time of his life "alone in the depths" reinforced and radicalized his previous beliefs, and to showcase his beliefs (and to try and get rid of his emotions because of how overwhelming they were) he turned himself into a cyborg (and did in fact make himself worse in certain ways but ehh who cares /j).

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who gave a kid back alley anti anxiety meds so he could face down his bullies, but he did so after making him a cozy beverage, teaching him about the dangers of propaganda and baseless rumors, and having him scream into a megaphone to freak out said bullies because it was funny (not that he'd admit to finding it funny because then he'd have to admit to having emotions, and well he can't do that, no sir).

so yes, viktor is a fucked up science guy, but that's half his charm! he cares so much about helping people, but he's a weirdo and freak about it! though to be fair, in the city that also has a chemically enhanced werewolf (warwick), a sentient blob of goo (zac), a wind and water goddess (janna), and a literal war criminal who invented chemical warfare (singed), among many other wacky individuals, he's pretty normal all things considered! fucked up science is just a part of life in zaun, my dudes!

Gotta love how my brain interprets characters. I read about how Scrapper is "the most well-liked Constructicon" + "the sociable Constructicon" + "artist" + "sadist"

And then almost immediately said: "Hmm... an emotionless charismatic sly genius psychopath with an inclination for humor and appreciation for high art, like the most generic of psycho tropes, uh-huh, got it... Plus ADHD... And homo... And a pinch of showmanship... For my own enjoyment."

Dipper hating Dippy Fresh in the finale sequence is genuinely so funny to me. Literally feels like such a real sibling interaction. If one of my bros replaced me with a fake 'cooler' rad clone version of me id also start eating a table out of anger. His indignation at it all is so real, they go on all those adventures, they trust each other with their lives and she's just replaced him with a vapor waver version of him cause they had one fight. Felt like he was moments away from going , okay well Im melting you in my mind as revenge lol.

also so funny to me that she was so mad at him that she made an antithesis version of him. its like she sat down and asked herself what would make Dipper the most mad. the answer apparently was green sunglasses, 2012's slang, a backwards cap, a skateboard, and saying stupid shit while highfiving everyone.

adventure time lore is insane. it starts off just being a goofy kids show that has magic for no reason, but then you learn that all magic users are manic and/or depressed (what betty calls sadness and madness). because it turns out magic is actually a cosmic force beyond mortal comprehension, that itself was learned from cosmic entities that predated the existence of time itself inside a sea of monsters. and "magic" really is just understanding more about the nature of the universe than most people. that, in a way, reality isnt "real" and understanding that allows you to mold it. and thats magic. but that drives you to insanity and/or apathy. and there are beings who hold significant cosmic importance who are more prone to magic. and the reason magic became prevalent on earth is because of a nuclear war a thousand years ago, which released the entity that represents the destruction of all life onto the world. and after a nuclear apocalypse this gave way to a new earth, where magic could thrive. but a lot of the beings we see arent even magical, theyre just mutants from what happened 1000 years ago. and humanity as we know it has been all but wiped out. but everything stays the same because cycles of war and violence continue. and it doesnt matter if its nukes or magic. everything stays the same, but still changes.

I'm rewatching gravity falls and obvioiusly i'm having a blast. but because I am an insane person I rewatched season 2 first and now rewatching season 1 and I have to say I love the monster of the week episodes. I love them so much. and honestly I prefer them alot more to the plot building episodes. dont get me wrong the overarching plot and mystery is definitely part of the intrigue of the show especially when it first aired. but I am so enamored with how the show stands completely on its own as just a regular monster of the week type beat. (also how concurrent all the episodes are it is very believable that every episode happens the next week from the last while still being able to pick up the show from mostly anywhere its just spectacular)

But i just think Gravity Falls and it's overarching plot was something very novel in a children's cartoon when it was first released. Most children shows didn't have an obvious mystery hanging over the entire show to be solved where the entire show for the most part was just one big arc (the only other one I can think of around a similar time frame is ATLA but I'm sure there were others they just were the minority) .

and that made it so intriguing and unique and dont get me wrong it's still an amazing mystery show and the plot still holds strong but also we are now in a timeline where almost every show even cartoons are 10 episode long and have an over arching plot hell all the major disney channel cartoons of the last couple years (ducktales, amphibian, owl house, star vs the forces of evil even tho that last one was really only in the second season) are all plot driven shows but hey atleast even those shows have mostly adventure of the week episodes for the most part. but the only true adventure of the week cartoons I know from the last couple of years have been like big city greens and Hamster and gretel.

And like i guess what I'm trying to say (in this insane manner of mine) is bring back the adventure of the week. bring back 22 episodes where every single episode isn't trying to just push the narrative forward. Like honestly to me the best parts of gravity falls that still holds up all these years later are just dipper mabel and gruncle stan getting into some shit together.

plus the comedy is still fucking golden and some of these shots are legitimately horror movie worthy.

Enjoying my job immensely! I work at the joanns fabric near me, which turns out to be part of a main packaging/shipping hub, and it's huge!!!! I've been ringing up art supplies and cutting fabric all in the past few weeks!!!! It's really helping me be in a creative mood like all the time. I made an art account (nothing posted) and I think the hardest part for me is just "starting" again and I get wrapped up in making the first post "special" in some way when it shouldn't have to be. Sorry for taking so long to figure things out and for shutting ppl out, I'm changing for the better, and I'm making an effort to communicate more, I promise!
