Prompt #1

I've decided that I'll try and do one of those promptobers this year, with King's Quest. And I have decided on Whumptober! Because my taste with King's Quest AUs is dreadfully and painfully obvious.

We all know how King's Quest V goes, so here's just a little something to bridge a natural gap that occurs. (Sorry-not-sorry Graham!)

"Alexander! Alexander!" King Graham called into the cold darkness of the woods surrounding Daventry. The trees loomed. Now everything was darker, more dangerous. Where was his son?

"ALEXANDER!" He called again, the forest was silent. Everything was sharper. More foreboding. He called for the birds to spread the word and yet they did not respond. His son had been taken!

Graham continued his quest into the woods. Suddenly, light. And a deep, blistering heat. Dragon's fire. "ROSELLA!" He called, newly afraid for his daughter. She had been taken, too, the newest and most terrible of demands from that horrid wyrm that taken up shop in Daventry. Her screams echoed through the burning woods. "ROSELLA! ALEXANDER!" he ran deeper in. His children, taken from him! His children, in mortal danger, and all because he had let- Rosella screamed again, her voice now joined with that of a young man's. Alexander's. His children were screaming for him. He could only run towards them.

And yet no matter how far he traveled towards them they only seemed to get further away.

He collapsed against a tree, out of breathe. An owl alighted on it. The only other living thing he had seen in this accursed forest. "Hoo, W-Well I'd get a hurry on, Graham. Hoo knows when next a POISONOUS snake will cross your path?" the owl said.

"They're not poisonous, they're venomous!" Graham snapped.

And with that, he awoke with a jerk. ...falling onto his side in the process. He was in a basement, presumably, and was tied up.

"Great..." he muttered. His head pounded. His heart raced. He was still on the knife's edge of panic.

King Graham tried to wriggle out of his newfound bonds. They did little good. He was well and truly stuck. He thought of his family, shrunken down with the castle in Mordack's dungeon. He thought of Alexander, dangled above the catified Manannan in an attempt to get him to reverse the cat cookie curse. Of Valanice and Rosella forced to watch as Mordack tortured his son. He struggled again with the ropes. Still nothing.

A squeak, as little beady eyes stared him down from a rat hole in the western wall.

And, of course, we all know how the rest of the story goes...

even if there is fearmongering and inacurrate studies about negative impacts of young children relying too much on ipads for stimulation you'd have to be insane to say it actually has no negative impact whatsoever. you do know a child's brain in early stages of development is not in fact the same as yours, right? help it's so dark in here...

tumblr is not immune to generational politics and the same avocado toast rhetoric they mocked but this time targeted towards gen z in some vague appeal to concern. and not to be like “nothing ever happens” but people make it seem like any change in how new generations interact with the world is like the end of society as we know it. the kids are not alright but they have never been. and we will all grow up and life will go on. like, chill out.

i think the thing that probably frustrates me the most about transmisogyny is that its completely impossible to talk about in a way that expresses how much its woven into the fabric of your whole life. and to point it out is something that is constantly dismissed as pure paranoia or attention-seeking behavior, right. surely we're just overthinking things, reading into malice that's not there, etc.

and its like . i am watched, everywhere i go. people notice me the second i step outside my apartment and they keep an eye on me. when i go to get in the car my neighbors watch me. if there are kids playing outside all conversation Stops Dead until they're sure the threat is leaving. i drive exclusively the speed limit and keep an extremely vigilant eye out for cops bc if i have to interact with one i don't know if the exchange will turn violent. pretty much any exchange feels like it can turn violent, is the thing. i don't go anywhere anymore because people will silently flash weapons to Prove that they could turn it violent, if they wanted. i don't even check the mail.

and you can talk about all of that. and people will still look down at you like you're a three year old infant and coo "aww. welcome to being a woman, sweetheart."

Phoenix Wright is So Stupid Funny as a player POV character because you start off playing ace attorney thinking he's just your self insert Relatable Protag Man with an illogical haircut in a world full of crazy then as the games go on and/or you switch perspectives you slowly begin to realise he's always been just as buck wild if not a complete lunatic since day one. But in his own mind he's always just so convinced he's a Completely Regular Lawyerdude surrounded by a bunch of freaks. And I love him all the more for it. What is wrong with this man.

AU where after the whole Red Hood drama Tim's still scared of Jason. Like, really scared.

Pretty sure that in canon Tim got beat up as well but even if it ain't in canon it's in this AU.

Plus Tim being Tim because his parents were rarely in his life. He's a neglected child. He does neglected child stuff that makes Bruce worried.

Jason is unaware at first.

But the main thing is Tim being, scared, distrustful, just absolutely terrified of RH.

And Jason is very unaware of this. He doesn't know.

But then incidents happen.

Jason starts to realize....
