this bit is driving me insane because emma said that cate tried to make luke forget sam by repeatedly wiping his memories of him but he just can't forget about him?!? luke's love for his younger brother transcended the memory wiping since he knew sam before his death. he undid cate's brainwashing just to rescue sam and bring him back, which speaks volumes about the strength of their brotherhood. luke was sam's hero and had him and only him, but then he lost him :(

I just realised:
Old Team Plasma wears white because they're unified under Ghetsis' FALSE TRUTH.
Neo Team Plasma wears black because they've gathered under Ghetsis' TWISTED IDEALS.
Likewise, they're all completely uniform - even Anthea and Concordia's designs have elements of symmetry, with the skirts of their dresses, and the Sages all look pretty similar.
The most notable character who is asymmetrical in design? Ghetsis.
Maybe it's a way of showing the absolute control he has over the people he's either swayed to his cause or, like the Harmonia siblings, deliberately raised to be as obedient as possible?
Also, am I the only one who thinks the blue parts on Colress' suit looks like shackles? Namely, around his neck, his wrists, and his ankles?
And his Alola design noticeably keeps his hands and wrists completely covered, along with a big coat collar as though he's protecting his neck?
Do you get what I mean?

Also, I think Jordan is overly hard on themselves. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. But when you spend your whole life being told that who and what you are is wrong, even the most tainted hand feels better than nothing. And I think that’s what makes Jordan’s character so interesting. Because if they had that support at home and surrounding them, Birk wouldn’t have been able to easily manipulate their perspective.
In the third episode Jordan says “Birk didn’t care what I looked like, all he cared was if I was the best…” and it’s very telling of their character. Because that’s all they ever wanted. Someone to not care which form they had.

Jordan and Marie have lunch
Drabble, 709 words, M rating for sexual themes
Something that many didn’t know about Jordan Li is that they are a tease. Not many people grew close enough to them to hear their quick jabs and subtle sarcastic remarks. Even in their hookups, they often took efficiency over theatrics, making their reputation on campus to be a glowing one, if not entirely accurate.
But no, not many people know that they are a tease as well as Marie did. The general population didn’t know about how Jordan could edge her for hours, smiling the whole time. How they unraveled and learned her entire body just to see how to get her riled up and keep her there under their close watch.
For example, Jordan was eating lunch. Now- Marie wasn’t into food play, but the way that Jordan was eating that peach made her reconsider. She never really understood their sexual undertones, even after Emma explained it and showed her a scene of a kid fucking one (it anything that turned her off of peaches even further). But right now, Jordan was eating a peach and she doesn’t think she's ever wanted to be a food as much as she did now.
The entire group was gathered in the dining hall for lunch, and Emma had begun talking about something that a girl in class had done when they initially pulled out the peach. Marie had looked away from her friend for a moment to see Jordan. They’re hair fell in a swoop to their side as the two made eye contact. Slowly, and very deliberately, Jordan took a bite of the fruit. Juice trickled from the fruit down their wrist and chin. Jordan swore softly, and licked the juices from their wrist. Marie watched as the second trail trickled down their throat, past their adams apple to disappear beneath their gray wife beater.
Fuck.
Jordan looked over at Emma and nodded, affirming they were listening before turning back to Marie.  Full lips covered the peach as they sucked the  juices from the crater they had left. Marie watched their throat bob as they swallowed, crossing and uncrossing her legs underneath the table. Looking around the table she sees Sam and Andre have joined the conversation, listing off ways to exact revenge on the girl. Luke passes the role of mediator to Cate as he scrolls through his phone between bites of pizza.
She turns back to Jordan and sees a smile playing on the corner of their lips. They take another bite which proves to be messier than the first. Juice spills onto their fingers and Jordan, being an animal and the devil incarnate, licks their fingers. Not just their fingers but their palm as well, their tongue flicking in the webbed space between their ring and middle finger. All while staring directly at her.
A pleasant shiver runs through Marie as she remembers the last time those brown eyes licked her. Should she be this turned on over someone eating a fruit? Over fruit nectar? Part of her feels like a horny teenage boy seeing a sex ed textbook for the first time. Another part of her feels like she might die if she continues watching.
Clutching her stomach she leans forward  in her seat. “Hey I’m starting to get cramps so I am going to head out.” This is only half way a lie. She will get her period the day after tomorrow, and when it comes cramps will certainly follow. She is just making a preemptive leave.
Around the table every one voices their sympathies. “Hey, I can go with you if you want,” Emma offers, zipping up her bookbag.
“No it’s fine,” Marie reassures with a tight smile she hopes comes off as a grimace. “You have class in twenty- I just want to lay down a bit.”
Emma nods. Marie can tell by the look on her face that she is all too willing to skip class for her roommate, but also doesn’t want to risk being overbearing. “Okay well, I have Advil over the sink, help yourself.” Marie nods as she gathers her things. With a final goodbye and walks off, towards the student dorms. Passing through the Quad she sends a quick text to Jordan.
Your dorm. 5 minutes.

An Entirely Unimportant Detail/Speculation
*spoilers for seasons 1-4 of The Boys and season 1 of Gen V*
Something I've always wondered- Could Sam be the kid that Lamplighter and Stormfront disagree about?
In Lamplighter's first appearance in 2x05 of The Boys, he and Stormfront are on the phone and he does not want to do what she orders on account of the patient they're discussing being "just a kid" and "only 17 years old."
Now, I think it's likely that this "kid" is meant to be Tim, the person we see Lamplighter kill in 2x06, and which alerts The Boys to his identity. Tim does ask if he can "go home" and expresses that he wants to see his family, which could certainly point to him being the "kid" mentioned in the previous episode. However, this is never explicitly confirmed, and Tim is styled with a short beard, which does seem like an odd styling choice for a 17 year old character. He also asks to see his sister, not his parents (doesn't mean he's an adult, but interesting choice). Stormfront also comes to speak to Tim, which seems unnecessary if she's already called Lamplighter and told him to eliminate him. Lamplighter also comes across as resigned in this scene, rather than upset, which seems odd if he's just been forced to kill another person he views as a child.
We know that Lamplighter has a relative soft spot for kids, experiencing a lot of guilt over the murder of Mallory's grandchildren. Lamplighter also "switches sides" several times, going from member of The Seven to unwilling informant to working for Stormfront to helping The Boys. It follows that Lamplighter might not be willing to actually kill this particular patient as Stormfront ordered him to.
In Gen V 1x03, it's revealed that Sam was at Sage Grove three years prior to the events of Gen V. At some point after this, Sam was transferred to The Woods and his family was told he committed suicide. Gen V is set at some point between seasons 3 & 4 of The Boys.
Sam's exact age is unclear (though there's some timeline discrepancies in general with Gen V), but he is Luke's younger brother. At the time of the events of Gen V, Luke is an upperclassman. This would likely put him at 21 or 22 years old, so 18 or 19 at the time of the flashback of Sam in Sage Grove. This places Sam at believably the right age to be 17 when the events of The Boys season 2 are happening (again, some discrepancies in the overall timeline).
We know that Sage Grove was conducting experiments with Compound V on patients. These experiments seem to have frequently gone wrong in one way or another, which is what appears to lead Stormfront/Vought to order the elimination of certain patients. In Gen V we are told that Sam has schizophrenia, but we also know that Sam has been in both The Woods and Sage Grove and has had experiments conducted on him for years, which means it's entirely possible that his "schizophrenia" is actually just a result of some of these experiments gone wrong. I find this theory particularly intriguing, since Luke's mental breakdown is initially theorized to possibly be due to genetics, but is later shown to be the result of Cate constantly manipulating Luke's memories/mind. Andre calls Luke "the most sane" person he's ever known. While Luke and Sam are separate people and it may just be that Sam is experiencing the symptoms of Compound V enhanced schizophrenia, I don't think we can assume that any information about Sam coming from Godolkin, Vought, or Luke (due to Cate's manipulation) can be 100% trusted.
At some point, someone took Sam from Sage Grove and moved him to The Woods, and they also created a coverup around this. Luke and his family were told Sam killed himself, but Sam's continued existence wasn't just hidden from his family, but also from many (most?) people at Vought. The Woods is a personal project of Shetty's, and one that many people (like Homelander) would absolutely object to. It's a secret. Ashely is clearly aware of it, so we know Shetty has contacts inside of Vought, and considering Lamplighter's conflicted nature and questionable loyalty, he could have believably been one of them.
Sam is not seen or mentioned during 2x06 of The Boys, and while it may be that he was just uninvolved in the break out/in, it's also possible that he was no longer at Sage Grove by the time this happened. So that also makes me wonder, is it possible that Lamplighter, struggling with Stormfront's order to eliminate a "kid," facilitated Sam's transfer from Sage Grove to The Woods, thereby making both Vought and his family believe he had died instead? It would explain how and when Sam "changed hands" so to speak.
Anyway, to be quite honest, I don't think this conversation between Lamplighter and Stormfront was meant to foreshadow Sam, and I doubt that anyone specifically wrote Sam's backstory to fit into this possibility, but I like the idea, and I don't think there's anything that would make this an impossible explanation for how/why both Vought and Sam's family think he's dead. Does it matter? No. Do I think about it when I rewatch The Boys? Yes, absolutely.

deliberate mischaracterization is the worst because people tend to fixate on hating a character to push certain incorrect narratives they have created in their heads to make themselves feel better about their own favorite characters/ships instead of appreciating the source material

besides the fact that the four of them have been vilified and imprisoned by vought and there will be many more life-threatening problems they have to deal with in season 2 — it looks like vought took away jordan's necklace and i'm worried they won't get it back :(

the first thing jordan noticing once inside cate's head is that they can't shift / shifting being the first thing they do when they're out i think is such a clever insight into their character
when there are social or physical constraints stopping them from switching freely not only are they limiting their powers but just who they are
so when they are able to shift that's when they're at their happiest so brink being (probably) the first person to not only accept but encourage that - like no wonder they were manipulated by him

currently sobbing over sam hallucinating luke because he represents sam's inner consciousness and guilt. luke knows which path sam and cate are headed, and he's urging sam to realize how wrong it is. however, the moment sam refused to listen to luke and closed the door on him, he also closed off his last shred of compassion. even when luke told him he loves him, sam still ignored him and proceeded to go with cate...
