Truly no one working on THG movie with any creative power other than Josh Hutcherson even cared about Everlark. They don't care to explain the bread at all. Not how it was connected to her father's death, not how it saved her and her family's life, not how it gave her hope, not how they were 11/12 years old when it happened. It's not given any attention when it's a pivotal scene.
I'll never understand the choice to have the bread scene acted out by Hutcherson and Lawrence. Like... It's audacious enough that you expect me to think they're both sixteen years old, but then they act out a scene where they should be eleven??? Like, come on man be for real for a minute.
#everlark#yeah but let's have prim cry and hyperventilate three times and film that#gary ross when i catch you

The Hunger Games, 2012 (Gary Ross) and The Hunger Games, 2008 (Suzanne Collins)
It's so interesting that, from the very beginning, Gale is established as someone who has a disregard for human life, and who does not truly view those different from him as "people." We see this here, where he dehumanises the children Katniss will have to fight in the Games. We see this in Gale's vocal resentment of Madge Undersee, in how he despises her for the privilege she was born with and grew up with.
This "us vs. them" infighting and mentality that Gale falls for (a mentality that the Capitol propagates, and that the Games act as a metaphor for) is one that eventually leads him to kill innocent children.
This thinking is also something Katniss must learn to break out of -- when she grapples with killing her opponents in the Games, who are truly just children, or when she realises "who the real enemy is" at the end of Catching Fire.
But Gale is unable to grow past this. He's willing to kill children (!) who are innocents, who haven't committed any crime other than being born in the wrong place at the wrong time -- just like Madge, who Gale despised in Book 1.
And Gale obviously DOES feel bad about "killing" Prim. But what's worse is the thought that, if it wasn't Prim who died, if it was just some random faceless people, would Gale still care?
I think Gale is a really interesting character whose development is so tragic yet still makes so much sense. It's a shame to see people write him off so quickly without seeing the analytical, thematic, and political value that we can gain by exploring his story and ideology.

waahhhh the hunger games movies only cared about the love triangle waaaahh the movies are so reductive waaaaaaaah they made it all about the romance waaaaahh WRONG U CRYBABY. STOP CRYING.
gary ross didn’t make the first scene a quick cut from seneca’s faux intellectualism to prim’s horrified screams for you to say the films only cared about romance
#i genuinely don’t understand people who say this#the films are EXCELLENT. they clearly showcase the horror and class warfare#they are clever and detailed#the romance is an important part of the story so of course they included it?#the hunger games#catching fire#mockingjay

Daily excerpt for Underline the Black, chapter 96:
‘We’ll start nice and easy,’ Gary said, his voice low. ‘Mm? Have to make you wet enough to handle what I’m going to do to you.’ ‘Yuck,’ Efnisien said, the word a soft exclamation of disgust. Gary felt a rush of glee. Debauching this prim and proper boy who behaved as though anything to do with sex was below him – when he’d walked in here himself, stripped and laid down on the pillows all on his own – was a delight.

Funniest responses* to the "What does "Mary Sue/Gary Stu" mean?" question
(In reference to my silmarillion fandom linguistics project, the results of which you can find in my "survey says" tag)
*not necessarily the full response, some are just fragments from longer responses. Also, I'm not filtering by "correct" or "incorrect" responses
Like a China doll that has been polished so much it’s face has worn off.
an overly idealized self-insert, one who exerts a black-hole like effect on the surrounding story and characters
Typically a derisive term.
It's like, an OC in a fic who is written to be "too perfect". All the canon characters fall in love romantically or platonically with the Sue/Stu, and they're given uncompelling and unexplainable abilities to solve all problems and be better than anyone else in the story. Often associated with self-insert OCs.
Everyone likes them. They're often instantly good at anything they try. The narrative's darling
Mary Sues are way more common than Gary Stus because people like to shit on girls having fun i guess
even my mom has heard about this one)
Often has a tragic backstory and unusual physical features
Very op character, too flawless (luthien)
OC
often this is used pejoratively against self-insert characters
everyone likes them (except the villain for arbitrary reasons)
Originated from Star Trek fan fiction
May have a comically tragic backstory. Usually in a relationship with the authors favorite character. May be a canon character a fan author has twisted beyond recognition.
Annoyingly perfect female protagonist (Mary Sue been used to mock and belittle stories about women. I've never seen Gary Stu in actual use: male characters with the exact same abilities are just 'strong')
Unrealistic, overpowered, or flawless main character, usually assumed to be a self-insert for the author. However some of the best characters are Sues and Stus, so the term is considered not very nuanced
has little canonical reason for being Like That excepting that it makes the author happy.
A term for an overpowered wish-fulfillment avatar
with a host of "desirable" traits (lustrous hair, shining eyes (sorry I mean orbs))
Overpowered perfect character in a bad story; always negative
Sweet harmless prim rule-following vanilla
super over powered oc who the plot revolves around usually female sometimes self-insert blah blah misogyny. i don't think this term should hold much weight.
idealised character, probably original. Think it was invented by people who enjoyed bullying younger writers on LJ
Batman, gender swapped, would be accused of being a Mary Sue.
they have no flaws except that "theyre just too perfect and thats hard uwu (sad face)"
Sue if female, Stu if male
An OC who is better at everything than the existing characters, unusually beautiful, and often "fixes" all the difficult/sad parts of the plot by Being Amazing and Knowing Everything. Usually written by immature writers. "Tenth Walker" fics and "So-and-so's other/secret daughter" fics are nearly always "Mary Sue" stories. (Also a phrse that gets thrown at any interesting and powerful female character by insecure and sexist men.)
Overpowered (often self insert) character that is loved by everyone
The feminine is much more often used, because sexism
I think the term was often used in a very demeaning way in the past, but it can still be s useful term in modern fandom
Self-insert in an overdone, heroine kind of way. Was originally a derogatory term, but diesnt really have much reason to be.
overpowered, flawless character who has reasonable justification for every Really Stupid decision they make
warp the plot and other characters around them due to their need to be The Most Awesome
Also Feanor
(and also no one ever wants to admit canon characters are already Like That, especially in comics)
for example, a girl's only "flaw" is that she's so small and petite she needs help from the big strong male character. This could be developed into a "serious" flaw with her easily becoming codependent, but with a Mary Sue, this idea would not be pursued (#226)
As for Gary Stus, I think I would also consider a male character a Gary Stu who NEVER shows emotion but still gets the girl in the end. (#226 cont.)
I think the terms are very gender stereotypical in their nature so it kind of makes sense that the descriptions I gave play into those same stereotypes - not to say this shouldn't be questioned, but when I'm asked to define a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, it's very connected to gender stereotypes to me. (#226 cont.)
self-inserty character... over cool
Special Origins (mixed race, super powers, one of a kind etc)
Term used by haters to criticize a character they interpret to lack flaws but without having to do any literary analysis.
A negative connotation word about a character who is unbelievably talented
not every op character is a ms/gs, only the ones that are perfect
(disproportionately applied to women)
someone with a level of pilot-armor so thick it breaks immersion
Bunnies hop at their feet. Darkness flies before their sunny aura. And then everyone appplauds
A self insert character with a protagonist halo
Practically perfect in every way
usually get a romance with The Blorbo
You're asking for an essay here...
Often feels like someone's first D&D character.
considering the source material, I wouldn't use it for a silm fic
I kind of enjoy these sometimes lol
A self insert in a fandom who is you but the idealized version to an unintentionally hilarious degree, often to the point of being awkward and poorly written, “passed off” as an OC
Often associated with preteens (writers and characters)
Central common traits include lack of consequences, unjustified competence or skill, and poor social skills.
what if i was the coolest person on earth
The "Oh, yeah? Well, I have a shield that can block laser bolts" of fiction.
An OC who is too perfect/has no flaws, usually written by someone just starting out
OC thats a bit... inept at doing things in their New World
similar to the og star trek fanfic Mary Sue
there has been criticism in recent years of the term Mary Sue being used in a misogynist (and just plain mean) fashion
& occasionally parenthood.
/ refers to the fact that these two people are portrayed to be in some sort of relationship in the fic
The tea is SMOKING, y'all! 🍵

This week marked the 12th anniversary of The Hunger Games movie release.
What do you think about THG as a movie adapatation?
Do you think THG influence other movie (/book) in the genre? Yes/No? Why?
Is there any difference in your opinion about it between when you first saw the movie (/read the book) and now?
Thank you :)
@curiousthg
I remember the first movie coming out and being scared to death. (I had nightmares for a long time, LOL.) This is so sentimental for me. 12 years feels like yesterday.
1. What do you think about THG as a movie adaptation? I have my critiques. I think everyone does. While Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson acted incredibly, I wish the casting was closer to the book physical wise. A smaller, olive skinned, Katniss Everdeen. A blue eyed, taller (than Katniss) Peeta Mellark. Same goes for Gale and Haymitch. I wanted accurate Seam characters. However! I do think that Mrs Everdeen, Prim, Effie, Cinna, Snow, Caesar, is wonderful casting. Wouldn’t change a thing. I also wish that the cinematography of the movie was better. Better shots. More book information. I’ll never forgive Gary Ross.
2. Do you think THG influenced other movies/books in the genre? Yes/no? Why? Eh, not sure? I find the THG so different from anything I’ve ever seen before. I did kinda find it similar to Divergent. Not saying it’s copied but some similar concepts are applied. Does the Starving Games parody count? LMAO?
3. Is there any different in your opinion about it between when you first saw the movie (/read the book) and now? I think I appreciate it more. Seeing the symbolism and how beautifully written it is. I have been in the fandom for over five years and it still gives me chills. If my opinion has changed, it has surely gotten better!
Thank you for the ask!

Armie Hammer: American Spirit
Armie Hammer’s irrepressible drive—and Gary Cooper-like looks—have made him one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising stars.
Vogue Interview by John Powers Photography by Norman Jean Roy January 22, 2012
When Armie Hammer started out as an actor, he was, he admits, lazy. He’d stay out late carousing and turn up at auditions totally unprepared. Then he got a wake-up call: His agent said she was firing him. Terrified of failure, he persuaded her to give him one more chance—he had three auditions that week—and knocked himself out getting ready. He landed all three parts, yet what sticks in his memory is something else: “Those were the first times I was ever nervous in an audition.” He gives a wry smile. “That feeling has never gone away. Ever.”
Worrying has clearly worked out for him. Over the last eighteen months, the 25-year-old actor has won critical kudos for two wildly different performances: the privileged Winklevoss twins (he played both) in David Fincher’s The Social Network and, more touchingly, Clyde Tolson, the frustrated love of J. Edgar Hoover’s life, in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar. And he’s just beginning. On March 16, he’ll be seen as Prince Charming alongside Lily Collins’s Snow White and Julia Roberts’s Evil Queen in Mirror Mirror, Tarsem Singh’s cockeyed fairy tale, which Hammer calls “a visual trip.” As that comes out, he’ll be filming the title role in Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp as Tonto. All these parts play on Hammer’s most obvious quality: an aura of wholesome, almost prim virility that recalls Gary Cooper. As Collins says, “If you asked an artist to draw an all-American hero, he’d draw Armie.”
In person, Hammer is everything you expect him to be. He’s tall (six feet five), handsome, lean, intelligent, and blessed with the well-spoken graciousness befitting the scion of a distinguished family (his great-grandfather was the billionaire philanthropist Armand Hammer). Still, what strikes you first is his infectious enthusiasm. I instantly understand why Collins says she had so much fun with him on Mirror Mirror. He does impressions of Eastwood walking down the red carpet. He slips off his wedding ring to show the tiny, tattooed initials of his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, the model-actress-reporter who recently started a bakery in her hometown of San Antonio: “She’s interested in hard news,” Hammer jokes, “and cupcakes.” Although proud of his family’s achievements, he takes equal pride in charting his own destiny. “I’m not part of any dynasty,” he says firmly. But what he shares with his forebears is an ambition unembarrassed to declare itself. “I act because I love it,” he says. “I think you can make art doing it.”
Of course, Hammer knows that there’s more to life than acting. He hopes eventually to direct—his idea of film school is working with directors like Fincher, Eastwood, and Singh. And he tells me it’s his dream to open his own cigar company (he’s been smoking them since his childhood in the Cayman Islands). If that sounds a bit quixotic, such gung-ho spirit is endearingly in character. Just ask Aaron Sorkin, who spent months with Hammer making and promoting The Social Network: “Once we began our U.S. and European press tour,” he recalls, “Armie was always the guy knocking on your hotel-room door at 1:00 a.m. saying, ‘Dude, you can’t go to sleep yet, we’re in Madrid!’ I’d remind him that we were in Berlin and had to be up at 7:00 for a press conference. But he’s an irresistible force—you’d end up going out with him anyway.”

Papa Bhaal's House of Horrors teaser
This is a slasher/rural horror AU for BG 3, which follows a group of killers in the style of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1,000 Corpses(and its sequels) as well as just a general gritty horror vibe. It takes place in the Faerun equivalent of the late 70's, early 80's, ages are all done in human terms for our purposes, just consider them equivalent, and our cast is as follows:
The Killers: Bhaalists: Sentry Ojeda- 19 years old, a Tiefling, The second youngest of the Bhaal cult, an artist as well as a bit of a honey trap. Currently infatuated with the family's business associate Enver Gortash. Orin The Red- 13 years old, a Changeling, the youngest of the Bhaal cult, looks up to her big brother Sentry and loves working on art projects with him. Great at pretending to be a distressed child in danger. Tomi Kisaragi- 26 years old, a fey creature in the form of an elf, likes to play home maker and lull visitors into a false sense of security. Has a very unique gardening project. Jackal Silk- 25 years old, Drow, an accomplished tracker, hunter, woodsman, and mechanic. Pretends to be a savior on the road or in the wilderness for passing travelers all while isolating them further. Also an asshole. Gary Stormscale- 30 years old, a dragonborn, the eldest Bhaalist 'sibling' so to speak and usually the one in charge when Sarevok isn't around. Mainly cares for Sentry and Orin, generally considering the others old enough to take care of themselves. Appears to be the most calm and rational, but horrifying when in one of his dark moods. Gabrael Grimmaldi- 29 years old, a Tiefling, the care taker and motherly older sibling out of the group. She is protective of Sentry and Orin to a point of mania, also the most physically powerful sibling. Mostly keeps to herself. Sarevok Anchev- 50 years old, a human, presents himself as the patriarch of the family, taking on the mantle of 'Papa Bhaal' while the true father sleeps beneath the house until such a time there have been enough sacrifices to wake him. Ominous and imposing, he is still capable of pretending to be a gracious host to lure in travelers. Sceleritas Fel- ???, a fiend sent to serve the family by Papa Bhaal himself. Currently Sentry's attendant as Sentry is sort of the family's face while out and about, Fel tends to dote on his main charge and is excellent at hiding and destroying evidence. The Banites: Enver Gortash, Attorney At Law- 35 years old, a human, A sleazy lawyer and business man from the big city who has set up in Moonrise County and brokered a deal between the Bhaalists and the Myrkulites. While they're focused on their rituals and traditions, Gortash's aim in all of this is real estate and getting rid of political rivals using the two cults. That being said, he does have a soft spot for Sentry. Seraph 'Serf' Holms- 30 years old, a half-orc, Enver's enforcer and body guard. Not particularly bright or ambitious, but believes in whatever it is Enver told him they're doing. Valda Everett- 27 years old, a tiefling, Enver's personal assistant. She is professional, prim, and deadly. Valda comes from a well respected family back in the city and is a highly dedicated Banite and model employee. The Myrkulites: Judge Ketheric Thorm- 65 years old, a half elf, The local judge of Moonrise County and hiding some deadly secrets in the local graveyard. A grim and dour man who gives off a very unsettling vibe when travelers encounter him. Sheriff Z'rell- 35 years old, a half orc, the law around Moonrise County. A very popular woman at the local dive bar, but despite her attractive appearance and forward flirtations, there is a sense of danger that comes from any encounter with her, be it business or pleasure. Coroner Balthazar- ???, Undead, the mysterious County Coroner, always masked up and dressed fully in heavy lab gear. He is seldom seen anywhere but the local morgue or the graveyard.
The Survivors: The Locals: Alfira- 25 years old, a tiefling, the local radio DJ who doesn't believe all the murder cult stories that are going around until she finds herself caught up in their games. Lakrissa- 25 years old, a tiefling, Alfira's partner, loves the idea of a murder cult and gets excited at the idea of discovering what's really going on in Moonrise County. Highway Patroller Zevlor- 50 years old, a tiefling, a former investigator and government agent who left his position in disgrace after failing to expose a corrupt official back in Elturel. Now he is determined to make up for his mistake by exposing whatever is going on in Moonrise County. Rolan- 20 years old, a tiefling, has a shitty job at the local pawn shop/book store with an ass hole boss he can't stand, but he needs the work to support his younger siblings. A friend of Sentry's from their school days. Karlach Cliffgate- 25 years old, a tiefling, used to work for Gortash before he set her up to take a fall for him, currently hiding out in the closed down diner, planning revenge. The Travelers: Wyll Ravengard- 24 years old, a human, returning home to settle his late father's estate and fix up the old house so he and his fiancee can settle in Baldur's Gate permanently. Jaina Thalassia- 20 years old, a tiefling, Wyll's fiancee, traveling with him to their new home and starting a new job as a teacher in the city. The story snippet so far, just a sample mind you:
“Fuck fuck fuck...Why did you piss him off, Aryn?” The young elven woman sobbed, sliding down to a sitting position, legs not able to carry her any further as she hugged her knees to her chest. “You should've left him alone, why'd you piss him off?” “Hey it's not my fault, Brynna! How was I supposed to know he was crazy?” The human shot back, pressing his back to the door of the shed as it strained against the vicious knocks against it from the outside. “Guys...please stop fighting, the Fist will be here soon, I'm sure...it's gonna be okay we just have to stay calm and....” The dwarf was cut off as she and the human were thrown across the shed as the door splintered, sending them sprawling. Four pairs of glowing eyes lit up the darkness and the blade of an axe gleamed in the pale moonlight. Screams pierced the night. ----
“Good afternoon, Moonrise County. It's Alfira coming to you from Last Light FM, your local source for weather, traffic, news, and some good mood tunes. It's getting chilly as harvest season begins, so druids get those crops harvested quickly now. We are also likely to see rain for the holiday weekend, tough break for those last minute tourists looking for a woodland get away. Traffic heading towards Baldur's Gate is at a stand still thanks to a stopped vehicle across the roadway. Now here's our chart topping local favorite three years running, The Sirens' cover of local folk song 'Down By The River'” Alfira removed her headset and nodded her head gratefully as her partner handed her a cup of coffee and the morning paper. “Thanks Lakrissa...” She took a sip and then eyed the headline. “More tourists disappeared, huh?” “Yeah, fifth group this year....I think the cult is getting restless.” Lakrissa grinned, her tone sing-song and teasing. “There's no cult, Lakrissa. Honestly it's probably just overconfident city people getting lost in the woods without enough supplies. It's sad, but not some crazy murder conspiracy.” Alfira frowned, shaking her head. “And I'm not going to entertain the idea it is and get everyone in a tizzy.” “But it's fall, Alfira. Spooky season! Don't you wanna do a little themed broadcast and get those numbers up?” Lakrissa's grin widened, eager and excited. “Gods know the station could use it.” Alfira stifled a laugh and looked deadpan at her lover. “Lakrissa, it's Moonrise County, population like...MAYBE two hundred at best...Those numbers aren't going anywhere.” ---
“Move it a little to the left, Orin.” Sentry frowned, making a frame with his hands and scanning the hanging corpse dangling from a meat hook in the shed. His little sister repositioned the head just a little closer to the shoulder, slightly off from where it would naturally have been, and looked quizzically at her brother. “Yeah! Perfect! Just like that!” He reached into the pocket of his denim cut offs and produced a heavy needle and some waxed thread. “Now just hold it steady.” “There's room for a second head at this angle, slaughter-kin.” Orin pointed out with a grin as blood dripped down the front of her hand sewn red dress. “Shit, you're right. What are we thinkin', pig? Sheep?” Sentry pondered as he moved the needle expertly through the skin, sewing the head into place.

And Emily Watson is also excellent in it she plays the sheriff’s prim English wife h
+ And omg that was a typo Nick Cave wrote the screenplay but it would’ve been cool if Nic Cage wrote it
+ Aww Happy holidays to you too! I hope you have a wonderful one!
Emily Watson is a great actress (this is weird but she and Gary Oldman look like twins 😂). I'll have to add that to my list, though, even though westerns aren't my fave, I'll give it a chance
Oh okay lmao, him writing it would have given me extra incentive to watch.
Merry Christmas, nonnie! I hope it's a good one for you 🫶🏻

In a time of growing conflict and division in the U.S., singer-songwriter Camille Harrison offers an expressive and elegant rendition of the iconic song “America The Beautiful.” Camille’s version reminds us of the beauty that exists in our country and among its people—encouraging unity, respect, and compassion, despite our differences. As an accomplished adult contemporary singer-songwriter, Camille has graced the stage with legends like Hank Williams, Jr., and Dolly Parton, and recorded with the renowned Floyd Cramer at RCA Studios in Nashville. Known for her versatility across genres including jazz, traditional pop, and country, Camille also penned the Top 40 Billboard hit “Standing Still” for The Clark Family Experience and contributed to the soundtrack of The Prince of Egypt. “My intention for recording ‘America, the Beautiful’ is with this year being an election year in the U.S.,” Camille says, “there will be, and is a lot of disagreement and discord, to say the least. I wanted to remind us to remember to see the beauty in America, as well as in our friends and neighbors. To be mindful of how we can keep encouraging each other instead of losing friendships or making enemies by having different beliefs, and to keep America beautiful and safe. I wanted to think of how I could contribute to that, and for me, it’s pretty much always music. Creating something new and uplifting out of something classic was my goal.” In her rendition, Camille honors not only the country’s landscape but also those who have sacrificed for its freedom. “I wanted to honor those who paid the ultimate price and fought for our freedom. By having mercy and faithfulness to their families, the memories of their loved ones are honored in our renditions of this piece of music. Starting with bass and acoustic guitar by Kerry Marx, I added keys and percussion with Jeffrey Roach and Gary Prim, edited by Brian Willis, and throughout the additions I sang lead and whole lotta vocal parts in my home, later mixed by Clarke Schleicher. The record cover design is a photo taken from a photo session with the late Rusty Russell. Drawing on the original lyrics written by Katherine Lee Bates, Camille reflects on the song’s origins around September 11 and the election year. “Having spent a good bit of time writing songs, I also think about where songs come from. As a country facing a fork in the road, it seems to me it’s a good time to reflect on where we as a country come from. To remain on the side of wisdom and light, we want to appreciate the bright blue sunny spacious skies, embrace the falling rain, and stand amazed by our majestic mountains that lyricist Katherine Lee Bates wrote of the sights she saw on a train to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and remain in awe of the powerful and relentless oceans from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.” Camille adds, “How do we continue to stretch and extend the beauty of our country around the world? Just as the memorable tune came to organist and choir director Samuel Ward while he was on a ferry boat trip from Coney Island back to his home in New York City, we too can make the music made in the US reach around the world.” As Camille’s version delightfully captures, there is a profound need to appreciate the unity of our nation amidst current challenges. “There’s so much war and strife. Now is the time to open our hearts, make peace with one another, and move forward together” she adds. Through this, her intention is to inspire a sense of togetherness and respect, encouraging us all to focus on the common ground that binds us. Her natural talent for singing was evident from an early age, nurtured by performing in country music jamborees produced by her father, and singing church and classical pieces with her mother, a classical pianist. Music was woven into the fabric of Camille’s life from the very beginning. She developed a profound connection to it during her early years and credits her parents as her greatest influences. As a child, she studied piano and would sing every day after school, inspired by artists like Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Olivia Newton-John, Ella Fitzgerald, Rickie Lee Jones, and Hank Williams, Jr. Her experiences as a state champion gymnast at age 12 and an award-winning dancer taught her the importance of discipline and striving for excellence to achieve her dreams. By the time Camille was twenty, her professional music career was on a fast track. She performed at numerous prestigious venues, including Mid-South Concerts, Memphis Country Jubilee, Millington Navy Base, the Orpheum, Mid-South Coliseum, and Beale Street nightspots. She headlined the Memphis Symphony Orchestra’s Sunset Symphony and Memphis in May Festivals for three consecutive years, toured Italy, and opened for legendary artists like Hank Williams, Jr., Conway Twitty, Dottie West, and Dolly Parton. Her role as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance deepened her appreciation for a wide range of musical genres. Her early recordings with pianist and producer Floyd Cramer at the iconic RCA Studios in Nashville led to her being featured in People Magazine. Carl Perkins, who happened to walk by the studio while Camille was recording, famously remarked, “Let that girl sing, and I predict she’ll soon be ‘Miss Camille,’ just like Dolly Parton is Miss Dolly.” During this time, Camille had offers to pursue classical music through vocal scholarships, but her passion for contemporary pop, jazz, and country music prevailed. She earned a BS in Music with an emphasis in jazz and invested in a home studio to continue writing, recording, and performing. Throughout college, she also mentored youth and participated in organizations like Young Life and Kanakuk Kanakomo Sports Camp. After returning to Nashville, she quickly established herself as a session singer and performer at popular venues like Douglas Corner and Merchants. Camille has produced numerous solo records and has written and co-written a wide array of songs. Her works include a singer-songwriter album When it Comes to Love, a traditional jazz album The Big Parade, the semi-classical Christian piece When God Did Children Make, and The Jelly Bean Jar. She also co-wrote the Top 40 Billboard hit Standing Still by The Clark Family Experience. Camille has lent her voice to many recording sessions, including The Prince of Egypt soundtrack, and was the featured female singer on Hank Williams, Jr.’s The Blues Man for The Songs of Hank, Jr. She has worked with artists like Chris LeDoux on One Road Man, and worked as a staff songwriter for Warner Chappell and others, earning accolades from organizations like the Memphis Songwriters Association. Notably, she has co-written songs with legendary songwriter Merle Kilgore, known for Ring of Fire. 'previously on Underline the Black Gary definitely ran his finger through semen on a sheet and tasted it while Efnisien wasn't in the room and that's not even going to hit the top ten list of Unhinged things he's done in his lifetime'
sometimes I just think about this strangely prim Mr Darcy-esque absolutely feral nonsense monster gremlin boy of a man (a peak alpha man) and I'm like my brother in christ who are you
#underline the black#dr gary konowalous#it's hilarious to me that the tag here is still 'dr gary konowalous'#because this man is no longer dr gary to me#he is gary the absolute walnut#an emotional peanut of a person#the 'no let me become one with my sadness and grief' man#(he doesn't have this grief in FFS at least!)#(that's something!)#it turns out if you make Gary *really sad*#he will see Efnisien's semen on a sheet#and be a version of the 'it's free real estate' meme

Miraculous Destiny AU Lore
Description of some important characters in the beginning AU
In the beginning, identities are not revealed and no one but the main and the admins have miraculous.
Also the school combines middle school and high school. Why? Mostly because it helps keep most of the cast together
Main-
Reiner: The wielder of the Black Cat Miraculous, hero name Dark Claw (affectionately called 'Alley Cat' by Glitter Lucky). As Dark Claw, he is a stoic and stern protector, who wants to deal with Akumas and Digimon as fast as he can. Despite his tough and rough exterior, he's actually a pretty nice guy. He's protective of Lucky, treating her like his own little sister (gee, wonder why) and kind to any of the young civillians or Akuma victims that they run into. The children of the town seem to favor him as a hero, though that's not to say he doesn't have people who see him as 'too dangerous and scary'.
In his civillian life, he is a young man working multiple jobs, trying to make rent for his family's apartment and to hopefully own his own restaurant some day in the future. He has gained a reputation as being some sort of tough guy that used to lead a gang (albeit reluctantly). He still keeps in touch with some of the members, even though the 'gang' has long since disbanded. It's heard that he's seen talking to someone at his street stall late at night, but it's unknown as to who. His gang has been trying to spy on him and find out who it is, but he kicks them out the moment he sees them.
Sammi: The wielder of the Ladybug Miraculous, hero name Glitter Lucky (affectionately nicknamed Glitterbug by Dark Claw). As Glitter Lucky, she is a hyperactive and excited hero, eager to use her abilities as much as she can. She's childish, she's scrappy, and she's fast. People are entertained by her antics, but DC does have to rein her in from time to time. They still have a job to do, after all. She doesn't like being treated as a little kid, but it's a bit hard when everyone else treats her that way. People jokingly call her a 'magical girl', which she feels is approrpiate for her.
In her civillian life, she's a little more reserved and somewhat of a loner. Most people consider her weird, though they don't know her very well due to her being sick most of the time. She's an enjoyer of animes, video games, and, of course, Zombie Cat. Her closest friends are (OCs) Alicia S., Blake K., and Tobias R.. She was recently assigned a tutor to help her keep up with the schoolwork she misses, but this tutor ends up being her biggest bully, Henrietta Pasternak. She doesn't like the arrangement, but she needs it for her grades and Henrietta is an actually good tutor.
~~~~
Secondary-
Gary: The eldest child of the Pasternak family. He's not exactly a memerable character, always fading into the background. He works under a friend of his father's, who treats him rather poorly, and stays out for long hours, seemingly trying to avoid going back to his house for as long as he can. He used to have a passion for magic, but doesn't really practice it anyore due to it now being good for his father's image. He only usually hangs out with his college friend Liam, if he even has the time to.
Henrietta: The youngest child of the Pasternak family. She keeps the image of a prim, proper, and successful child, though only when around her family or in the general public eye. When at school with her friends, she's a bully and is never caught or punished because of her status as the mayor's daugther. Her favorite target has been Sammi and her friends. Recently though, she's been assigned to tutor Sammi, which is an arrangement that neither of them like. But, she needs it to keep up her image, and Sammi's not too bad company...
E.R.: A young man with a big heart and relaxed demenaor. He's not the smartest person around, but he is the most reliable and outgoing. He usually goes along with whatever is going on around him. A lot of people like him, for good and bad reasons. He's well known for getting himself injured due to some rather dangerous or impractical stunts, earning himself the nickname "E.R." due to almost constantly being in the ER. Some people like to record his stunts just for views, though he'd rather they not.
Riot: A former, well-known bully who is trying hard to redeem himself, though the fact he keeps getting into fights is not helping his case. He's loud, boisterous, and somewhat hotheaded, but also rather crafty. He likes working with his hands, being a somewhat skilled mechanic working at his uncle's shop. He and E.R. tend to hang out a lot, with E.R. usually acting as his medic after fights. Their friendship is surprising to most, given as Riot used to bully the former heavily. He admires the heroes a lot and sometimes wishes to join them.
Grayson: A quiet and introverted young man, who prefers to just stay in his own technological world. He's an intern at Reddington Co., directly under Simon himself. He is completely unaware of his boss's secrets. He is also a big fan of the superheroes, creating a website about them that details who they are, their observed abilites, and their fights. Digimon are of a great interest to him as well, given their surprising and sudden appearance. He has made his own separate website just to study them.
???: The little guy who stores some of the Miraculous and delivers them. He shows up to help if the heroes need it, but is otherwise popping up randomly around town.
Mrs. Takeshi: Sammi and Reiner's mom. She's a tired but kind woman who does her best to support her children. Like Reiner, she works multiple jobs to help meet rent, pay for Sammi's hospital bills, and to secretly save up for a family restaurant to share with her children. She's not around a lot, but she makes up for that by making big family dinners for them to eat.
~~~~
Admins/Guardians-
Lucia: One of the original heroes and now a retired guardian. She's a reserved and somewhat eccentric young woman, covered in a long cloak. She was the Guardian of the Ladybug miraculous, but had sent it away due to her discovery of Simon's plans. She was also able to send out a message to her fellow Admins before she was taken by HiAndromon and hidden away. Her current status is unknown, but the other Admins are trying to find her after her message reached them. She is unharmed as a captive, though her Miraculous and Digivice had been taken away.
Jordan: One of the original heroes and now a retired guardian. He keeps tabs on the Digital World, trying to ensure the peace and stability of it while also juggling his duties as a Guardian. He had gone into hiding after HiAndromon's attempt to take the Black Cat Miraculous. He now tries to keep tabs on the two new heroes that have appeared in town, his former ally's activities as a villain, and the locations of the other Admins. This, on top of his other job already protecting the Digital World. It's hard, but at least he has Meteormon around to help him out.
Simon: One of the original heroes who has become a villain, now wielding the Butterfly Miraculous. For one reason or another, he has become bitter and is now obssessed with creating a 'perfect' world. He Akumatizes both humans and digimon in order to obtain the Black Cat and Ladybug. Outside of this, he just appears as a normal successful and benevolent businessman, running a huge tech company (Which also helps keep him connected to the Digital World). He has also created a TV show that showcases his and his friends adventures as DigiDestined, disguising it as a cartoon.

It's like the lake is behind me now and I can hear the clock ticking in the dining room. The world outside is still , the waters of Winsted are sleeping now. If i stare out the window for long enough , I spot a firefly here and there. There is usually lightning across the lake this time of year. Gary Prim is playing softly.., the faint blue glow from the sound system interface seeps into the room . I anticipate tomorrow , the sun will rise and I will follow the cat into the garden and pick as many raspberries as I can fit into my lifted shirt . I will peel cicada skins from the trunks of apple trees . I will look for turtles and fish carcasses in between the rocks on shore. If I am up early enough , I can meet the pelican for breakfast
