gale is just like me in the sense that he’s a chronic yapper who loves deeply and has a somewhat unreliable moral compass and some kind of poorly concealed god complex but also because at the first minor inconvenience he can and will threaten to kill himself

there is something to be said about l*rian removing the completely valid rp option for the player to retaliate against ast*rion's attack on the beach (luring you to help him under false pretenses and putting a dagger to your throat) early on in early access (iirc it was patch 2 or 3), while adding more options to kill gale when you meet him in the full release version of the game (dies by failing a roll, dies by durge gnawing off his hand, dies by leaving him in the portal, can be attacked after pulling him out of the portal).

gale, whose crime it is... to be in need of assistance and ask for help.

Some players who seem to have self-worth and insecurities issues and take offense at the very idea that someone else might be more knowledgeable or experienced in a subject than them: He talks so much and he's so condescending!

my sister and i just yapped for almost three hours and we were just talking about how genuinely weird people in fandom are surrounding characters who have explicit mental illness. like they can never ever be normal. there are characters who are romanticised and glamourised for their mental illness (eren. wanda. joker. kaneki. nico. almost any danganronpa/ddlc character). characters who are consistently ridiculed for their mental illness either because it simply isn’t getting taken seriously (reiner) or because no one takes the character seriously (armin). and there are the characters that get blatantly outright DESPISED for it (basil, harry potter, korra, gale, also eren etc etc). like yes im seeing a correlation but its still so astounding how selective people are about where they draw the line with mental illness and what traits they can accept.

i dont want to put this on main bc im scared but i hate it when people downplay katniss and gale's friendship. ive seen so many people say how they have nothing in common and how they wouldnt even hang out if their dads didn't die and its like... okay. have yall never had friendships that were forged from the aftermath of unthinkable situations? because it kind of makes me uneasy that their bond is minimized for that reason. at the end of the day, i think they both have a lot of similarities, even if they probably wouldn't have become friends under more favorable circumstances. they both are very caring and nurturing toward the people they love, they both love very intensely, they're both goofy as fuck (laughing and joking around in the woods---a part of 12 punishable by whipping---is actually bonkers), and they genuinely bond by hunting even if it is out of survival. im sure someone much smarter than me could articulate this point better, but i just hate how sometimes their friendship is punched down in order to elevate katniss and peeta's relationship (romantic or otherwise). because honestly they aren't that cute either, their relationship (both romantic AND otherwise) actually stressed me the fuck out. like guys kiss and make up PLEASE simply smooching isn't gonna fix everything

so you know how when redeemed durge rejects bhaal withers shows up and basically tells their dad to fuck off because thats his kid now. i have a lot of thoughts about the dark urge and all of them are emotionally devastating but anyway. do you guys think astarion saw that and felt some horrible kind of numb, resigned jealousy because years ago he desperately prayed to every one of the gods to free him from cazador and got no answer— then this bhaalspawn haunted by the narrative turns up and Fucking Jergal intervenes just to save their life and flips both ao and bhaal the bird at the same time. because ive been thinking about that ever since my durge run and i need to inflict that pain on everybody else now.

Against all of my instincts, I decided to continue for at least another episode, and they are actually having a f***ing funeral for him.

And Envy is Literally SINGING ON HIS GRAVE.

At least the character Writing is consistent. And its better than what they did with Masters of the Universe so far.

But, THIN FUCKING ICE

Finally starting the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off show.

It looks good and has amazing voice cast. I sure hope there are no unexpected twists or a Bait and Switch that would put a horrible taste in my mouth and ruin the experience of enjoying one of my favorite franchises like the last time Netflix did that to me.

A friend sent me this fanart so we could both be happy, and it prompted a discussion, so here's the results of "reading a candy wrapper joke to your BG3 companion" as a writing prompt: Shadowheart: laughs hysterically and then laughs just as hard a day later when she tells the joke back to you

Lae'zel: "Please explain. Do the words come from the candy? Is it sentient?" also repeats the joke a day later, but to someone else and when she doesn't think you're listening

Gale: tries to one-up the candy and tell a funnier joke

Wyll: actually tells a funnier joke without trying

Karlach: exactly like Shadowheart but with a bit more snorting

Astarion: "I'm glad your candy amuses you." Secretly thinks its hilarious

Halsin: sighs more deeply than anyone has ever sighed

Jaheira: same as Halsin but with an additional comment about your similarities to one of her prepubescent children

Minsc: doesn't understand

Boo: spends a good twenty minutes trying to explain to Minsc

Minthara: Has permanently left your party*

*The Minthara caveat is that she obviously appreciates some puns, "it's a beautiful webbing" is proof of that, but she is doing this specifically for the comedy value. Basically, the same as Gale and Wyll, but she's better at it. Because she's truly the funniest person you know.
