Working on Bonnie’s day out and found a thing that I need to make clear:
Pokémon’s age isn’t the same as exp
For the people in the back
Pokémon age is not experience points!
Why do I say this?
Because in Lily’s madhouse, Lily canonically pairs an underaged (and victim of grooming) character with her “celery friend”
Marah is written like a child
Don’t worry this will be fixed in Bonnie’s Day Out!
Also
So far I’ve gotten three pages done of the first chapter; I haven’t figured out how many pages total it’ll be but know it’s worth sticking around for ;3

As the first official post of the new side blog I thought I’d share with yall the process of how I went about re- designing/writing/imagining the characters and story of Lily Orchard’s PokéMadhouse!
Re-Madhouse — G
Starting with the as Lily puts “Co-Protagonist” of PokéMadhouse, G the gardevoir.
When I first read madhouse I didn’t like the way G was written, I couldn’t accept that she was truly the one who did wrong granted the circumstances of the real life relationships that get this toxic, for the life of me I felt that G was the victim. From the way she’s written to her internal (and lack of struggle that isn’t resolved with a “get over it” by Lily) struggles/conflict. The way G comes off when interacting with other Pokémon, people and even Lily she acts like an abused dog who is on edge every millisecond of their life afraid of being hurt and dying.
G was always detached and acting like someone stronger than she was always masking and hiding. She was scared and confused and irrational. While reading I just couldn’t shake the feeling that Lily was lying to G about the bond shit and that’s what got me motivated and inspired to write G the way I did:
A nervous and anxious Pokémon who has to keep her head on a constant swivel to make sure she doesn’t get caught off guard by Lily or the other Pokémon on Lily’s ‘main team’ while wandering the halls in a confused and lucid daze.
So I took this to mind and heart when I was redesigning her. Of course this was after I did a semi satiric piece that applied my personal headcannon and take on the ralts line with given scientific applications to it! {click here for that!}
But when it came to actual elements for G in “Bonnie’s Day Out!!” I started to do my research and gathering for reference that would not only fit well with her silhouette but her character as well!
The basis of her design was heavily based on Anthy from RGU. Getting proper information from @saiscribbles as to her character thriughout the show: plots, goals, arcs and motivation; but more importantly her relations with the characters around her.
When it came to the style I had already locked in on limitations and rules for my version of gardevoir:
Depending on the age/maturity of the kirlia when they evolve (exp ≠ age) the style of “gown” will match and stay even as they age.
Younger gardevoir have more fairytale/disney princess type gowns
Older gardevoir have sharp, mature and a runway flare to the gowns
That being said; I immediately began to look up designers who screamed for my attention that suited G! But I wanted to find designers who had a somewhat hard life or story to really feel appropriate. The two I found the most right with G were: Paul Poiret and Cristóbal Balenciaga.
With all my ingredients ready I went into designing the final look!
It means the world to know y’all are loving this series and rest assured to know that there will be more posts like this where I share my process of reimagining PokéMadhouse!

Hey I've gotten a couple DMs asking where I get the poke madhouse panels. You can read the entire comic here. Don't go to Lily's patreon trying to get it when it is publicly available as an archive link

here's something you might or might not enjoy. i thought it was entertaining enough to post anyway.
this is G, but i redesigned her just a smidge. Not making a statement about the series' authors or anything (you could write a novel about it, lord above), just gonna spew some garbage here.
what a really sloppily designed main character. i guess it's memorable, but being literally just "gardevoir.png with sharp teeth" means you only have to remember the teeth. you wouldn't POSSIBLY believe it, but i did all of this from scratch with no references. i draw these stupid green assholes so much i gracefully don't need to search up "gardevoir" on google images.
i feel like her visual design is the worst part of her character (like, give her some clothes, or piercings, jesus ANYTHING to give her a bit more flair as a MAIN CHARACTER, giving me some mean harem anime vibes with the basic bitch design) despite being the kind of person who would happily throw down with kids just so she can have her trainer to herself golly gee. that kind of thing is a little neat i guess, just for characterization though. kind of a total shame she gets fuck all for repercussion for anything other than a "you dimwit we legally cannot be together" lmfao
might do more but my specialty is pissed off green women so, y'know.
edit: piss in my cereal i forgot to mention; the bottom images are just there for comparison and they were made by mikaila orchard. you can tell they weren't made by me lmfao
#poke-madhouse#poke madhouse#g#gardevoir#hateful shrew is something i picked up from caddicarus i think that's not an original insult#but it's funny so i'm using it lmfao

About Syir, from Pokemadhouse
TW: Mentions of R4pe and Abu53
If you follow me for a while, must have seen my Pokemadhouse rage about Syir The Gardevoir.
But unfortunally i never explained WHY i hate her so much and why my blood boils when i talk about her.
So, here is the big explanation, in topics.
1-So, who is Syir and what did she do?
Syir is a character from Poke Madhouse, a now deleted pokemon comic made by Lily and Mikaila Orchard that talks about a pokemon world and the lives of their ocs and their pokemon in a house.
In this world Gardevoirs are the most dangerous and powerful species of pokemon, and Syir is a Female Gardevoir whose trainer is nothless than Diantha, The Kalos Champion.
And not only that, she and Diantha are implied on being in a relationship, wich in Poke Madhouse world is seen as the worst crime a person can do, even if its consensual. Gardevoirs are the biggest victims in this, as Lily even said People call them "The Waifu Pokemon", and doesnt help they do a thing called Mating Bond, where they use their psych powers to fuse their lives together.
And in this case, if you think they have a very good relationship...
ITS NOT WHAT HAPPENS HERE.
Diantha in the comics is coerced by her Gardevoir into sexual relationships, even using her psych powers to rape her. And she cant escape or cut the bond, as Syir use it to control and track her, like a leash. Also, Syir kills anyone who discovers about the True nature of their relationship, and its implied in some comics that everyone knows the nature of their relationship but dont do anything in fear of getting killed next.
2-Why no one tried to stop her?
A thing from Poke Madhouse is that Gardevoirs are in risk of extinction and have very short lifespans because of excessive breeding to get perfect Gardevoirs and shinies (Basically Lily dissing People who do this). So they are an endangered species. Also, this was Lily decision, without any reason besides "why not?"
There were at least 3 People who gave reasonable plans to defeat her. Poison, Guns, attack with pokemons with type advantage. All good and reasonable things within pokemon universe. However, all Lily answered them was a meme.
This meme
Basically, the answer to everyone wanting to defeat Syir. Literally a "You cant" in form of a bad meme.
Lily says that Syir is too powerful and evil to be defeated, to the point there's nothing anyone can do. Even G and C!Lily couldnt. Hell even Bonnie cant stop her, lily said that if they met Bonnie would cry and hide.
Actually, this will be the final topic, the reason i hate her.
3-Snitches get Stitches
In 2020, Lily added a thing in Madhouse wikia Page of Syir, currently deleted by her. She added a small lore info about Diantha and Syir.
Diantha one day managed to escape Syir and tried to find Help on the last person who tried to stop her Gardevoir: C!Lily.
C!Lily was an enforcer, a kind of pokemon cop, who really tried to stop Syir. However, Syir almost murdered both her and G, wich made C!Lily abandon all investigation she made, and made her terrified of Syir.
Diantha begged her for help, to find a way to save her. But C!Lily didnt wanted to help, because Syir threatened to kill everyone who she loved if she tried anything.
So what C!Lily did?
She gave Diantha back to Syir.
She GAVE. AN ABUSE VICTIM. BACK TO ITS ABUSER.
Now you get it why i feel so much hate towards her?
I dont care about any drama of hers, i cant EXCUSE THAT SHE WROTE SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND WANTS ME TO LIKE HER CHARACTERS.
TO LIKE G, C!LILY OR ANYONE ELSE.
She May have deleted the original pages and only left the nuke attack she gave to Syir.
But i will never forget what she did.
And i will never forgive.

https://www.tumblr.com/lily-orchard-stuff/767748338287362048/looking-back-at-madhouse-it-really-was-just
So according to Lily's own commentary on her comic, for a long time Madhouse was just about how cool it would be to have a psychic best friend, then it was about making fun of people who wanted to fuck Gardevoirs, then it was therapy about people who develop feelings for people too easily trying to move past that, then G and the Violate arc were a reflection of Courtney abusing Lily, then the comic was always about Lily not wanting to fuck a Gardevoir and they were never getting together, now that whole arc is a funny, spontaneous will-they-won't-they.
Like these are all different things. These are all different stories with very different authorial intents behind them. And to the first person to ask why this matters: because despite trying to pin this on 'ADHD', it's actually Lily shifting around the meta framing of the story to feel out the explanation that best serves whatever public persona she's most invested in presenting at the moment, which is exactly how she's handled every controversy from Stockholm to Tara Callie to Courtney.
“—it's actually Lily shifting around the meta framing of the story to feel out the explanation that best serves whatever public persona she's most invested in presenting at the moment, which is exactly how she's handled every controversy from Stockholm to Tara Callie to Courtney.”
YES, THANK YOU. That is exactly what she’s doing, cherry picking whatever narrative suits her self-interest best. It’s so… Agh. I hate it.
Anyways, here’s an old screenshot of Lily posting art of Madhouse!Lily and G being married.

Animation Night 191 - Yuzuru Tachikawa
this is what it's like to play jazz.
OK, so, you know Mob Psycho 100? Maybe I don't even need to say more than that...
Yuzuru Tachikawa! If you're a sakuga type, perhaps a familiar name... if not, let's take a moment to rewind the clock to the strange ancient times of 2013, where there was a certain something called the Young Animators Training Project. Which was a project to train young animators. More substantially, as kvin writes here, it was a project designed to address the collapsing training processes of the anime industry... a project which fell rather short of its aims in many ways.
But in its earlier days, it did fund a couple of very interesting, unique short films. One of them was the original Little Witch Academia, which went on to expand into one of Trigger's flagship series. And the other... was Death Billiards, directed and written by a certain Yuzuru Tachikawa, rising episode director star, at Madhouse.
The premise of Death Billiards, and the later expanded esries Death Parade, is that the dead find their way into bars whose bartenders judge whether they should be reincarnated based on 'death games'. What's a death game? Well, standard bar stuff: billiards, darts... the title is in fact very literal. And it slapped. kVin writes:
Death Billiards was nothing short of a passion project for Tachikawa, who wrote, directed, and storyboarded it all. It was his opportunity to make a stance. To prove he wasn’t just a great ally for other creators, or even a suitable second in command, but rather someone deserving of helming his own titles as he pleased. In his second showing as director—the one fan of the 2012 multimedia project Arata-naru Sekai happens to be a friend of mine and he’ll kill me if I don’t mention it—Tachikawa held nothing back. Death Billiards’ exploration of ambiguity and moral failings that had always intrigued Tachikawa stuck with people all around the world too, and its presentation was so stylish that not even Yoh Yoshinari’s dazzling LWA managed to overshadow it. The OVA immediately put Tachikawa on the map, but truth to the told, that’s far from the extent of its success.
And indeed, Tachikawa - and producer Takuya Tsunoki - went on to do many great things, building up a strong gang of animators around them, many of them associated with the young Studio NUT. Of course, their best known project is Mob Psycho 100, a popular comedy-shōnen manga by One (same mangaka as One Punch Man) which plays around with chuunibyou (in the original sense) ideas of psychic powers in, ultimately, a very grounded, affirming way - and to this Tachikawa et al. brought a slightly sketchy, experimental style which led to some pretty crazy action animation. Mob was a crazy hit; later came their long-term passion project DECA-DENCE, a very fun scifi piece about humans trapped in an elaborate physicalised game, rebelling against the system and staging prison breaks, full of slick zero-g action sequences...
Course while we're talking about NUT, we gotta mention their first work Youjo Senki, perhaps the most outright loathsome anime I've ever seen. Not to beat this dead horse. I can only imagine that the staff working on it were like... somehow oblivious to the blatant nazi barely-even-subtext of what they were adapting? (In keeping with the unfortunate ways that otaku culture plays with nazi imagery.) I just can't square it with any of the other stuff they've made, Deca-Dence in particular. Tachikawa at least was only peripherally involved in that hot mess.
We're not actually here to talk about Mob or Deca-Dence though - they're both way too long for Animation Night. Instead we'll be rolling the clock forward to Tachikawa's most recent project at NUT: an adaptation of Blue Giant, about boys playing jaazzzzzz.
also eating burger.
Blue Giant follows Dai, an aspiring saxophonist, as he grows up and toots despite the hostility of the patrons of his local music shop. The film adapts some of the later volumes of the manga, in which Dai has already made some progress in his playing. Dai falls in with two other jazz players: the experienced and arrogant Yukinori and novice drummer Shunji as they form a band. Before long, conflict brews over just how hardcore you should go.
The film is, naturally, a celebration of jazz, full of elaborate scenes of performance, described as being like "a full-blown music video" to really sell you on how moving and awesome jazz movie can be. Jazz and anime can be a great combo (just ask anyone who's seen Cowboy Bebop or Gundam Thunderbolt) and I am pretty curious to see what they come up with here.
Honestly, while I've enjoyed Mob and Deca-Dence, I definitely feel like I'm sleeping a bit on Tachikawa - so tonight I hope to remedy it by checking out where he came from and where he's currently going, with a night of Death Billiards and Blue Giant! NUT's animation is always lively and stylish - they're also the studio where the master of anime-industry animation tutorials, Dong Chang, works - so I think we'll surely see something cool.
Animation Night 191 will be going live shortly at twitch.tv/canmom, I hope to see you there! And apologies for the late start - without going into too much of what's happening behind the scenes here, we should (touch wood) soon be able to get back to an earlier schedule, but for now we're still on witching hours.

SURRENDER TO MADNESS ONLY GOT USED TWICE?? THATS SO LAME WHY MAKE SOME SICKASS FORM AND NEVER USE IT
I didnt know StM just happened over Lily's fuckass parents thats so funny and boring
right i get to explain Surrender to Madness too, i guess. this is why you don't come up with a cool form and NOT FUCKING USE IT and NOT EXPLAIN IT AT ALL on the blog it belongs to. here's a ping @kaleleaf1012
basically StM was like an alternate form for madhouse!g, but it had like no drawbacks asides from being literally illegal because it's too fucking strong. best thing to compare it to with my own content was like Karrie's Monarch form but it provides a DISGUSTINGLY LARGER boost to G's stats.
the differences between StM and Unshackled is just the added 'wow that hurts,' how she got it in the first place, and it's actual appearance. here's StM's wiki page: https://pokemadhouse.fandom.com/wiki/Surrender_to_Madness
fun fact (actually kinda makes me upset) it shows up literally like 2 times ever in actual madhouse. i did have more plans for Unshackled just because i like alt forms and stuff, but also like, a form that comes almost exclusively from your connection with your gardevoir that's actually high risk high reward is cool.
here's the segment where i bitch about it, 'Surrender to Madness' is a name that's so up-it's-own-ass that it's funny, and the form literally just happens because 'lily got hurt by her meanie parents :(' like lemme suck myself off for a second, Monarch is a form that Karrie earns by dying and going to purgatory, then fighting her way through all of purgatory for a week straight, then usurping the throne and becoming the Queen of Purgatory. Feral is like the second stage to Monarch (like a 2nd evo like charmeleon or some shit) and it's not dissimilar, but it came from a state of primal fear and relived memories, triggering her so hard she grew to twice her own size to completely atomize a Mewtwo. I feel like these forms are allowed to be really strong because it took like 2 deaths and a completely different reality to get them.
#G's the main character ofc she has to get a badass form or wgatever#Doesnt StM get used to traumatize a bunch of kids#poke madhouse#<- sucks ass!!#Unshackled sounds way cooler#fuck poke-madhouse
