Hearing her talk, I'd say Lily Orchard really missed her calling by not becoming a network executive. Her saying that Owl House getting cancelled is "proof" that story-driven cartoons don't work has the energy of taking Mars out of the title of John Carter because Mars Needs Moms bombed.

The thing with The Owl House was that it wasn’t that story-driven cartoons didn’t work, it was that Disney preferred episodic shows in general. It didn’t matter what the audience wanted, it was what Disney wanted.

Which again, doesn’t prove a damn thing except companies are fucking stupid.

I kind of need help with something.

I am trying to come up with a quick summary of why looking at lily orchard fiction and pointing out why she wrote it is so bad with out sounding like you are blaming the topic of being that.

The current best way to put that is in through a question. What if something you liked was a way for someone to brag about what they did to another person? Like pulling a nameof a preson why I can't remember who wrote the murder in the book they wrote in the exact same way.

Do you have any better ideas on how to describe what I am saying?

Sorry, I’m unsure which you mean—do you mean clarifying why Lily’s writing is bad because it likely draws upon her experience + wishful thinking with abusing her sister, or why discussing her writing with that element is bad because casual readers might be unaware of the context and could sound accusing?

Honestly, all this buffoonery that Lily is known for is precisely why the cartoon community (And both critics and writers in general) have just stopped taking her seriously. There was a time when her opinions had a little pull...within fandoms that were filled with children. The problem is that MOST of those children have grown up by now and gained more critical thought that goes beyond "Angry YouTuber told me to hate this thing." Because of that, most of the internet has begun to learn to NOT take her shit seriously and tell others not to listen to her as well. When The Owl House fandom started to learn that Lily was watching the show, most just already assumed the worst and barely payed her any attention. And when that Dungeon Meshi video went up, she was laughed out of the room immediately to the point where she HAD to delete the video to keep some credibility.

And that credibility, by the way, no longer exists. Lily Orchard made a name for herself as the "Cartoon Critic who hates fun things." Whether the shows deserve criticism or not, there's no denying that if Lily talks about it, odds are it's not with the best intentions in heart.

I hope we’ll reach the point one day where it’s not just the cartoons side of YouTube that have disowned her, but most the rest of the internet as well.

Can someone explain to me what Lily means when she says "prestige tv"? She keeps calling things like Game of Thrones or breaking bad prestige tv, which in snide Lily speak I guess is supposed to mean overrated mature shows that win awards. I feel like what it actually means is shows for regular people that don't watch cartoons for shipping and fandom discourse.

Real talk though? You know how Lily thinks weebs are addicted to action scenes and can’t digest slower-paced shows without them? Lily complaining that people take her opinions on cartoons too seriously is laughable, because I know for a fact that for a while she was damn proud of her SU video and outright championed it as being singlehandedly responsible for making the whole world realize that the Overrated Rock Show wasn't actually perfect. It's only when critics that actually know their shit started tearing that video apart that Lily's stance on it changed and suddenly everyone is overestimating the damage it did to SU's public perception. And let's also not forget her infamous "100 Writing Tips" which was dead serious until people started ridiculing it and then Lily made a second jokier version of it and tried to pretend that the first version didn't exist and everyone just blew her funny joke out of proportion.

Conclusion? Lily actually does want her opinions on cartoons to be taken seriously, it's just that she only wants to be taken seriously if/when her opinions are seen in a favorable light. Because Lily's ego is as massive as it is fragile.

Yesterday, you said Lily would be laughed out of a professional setting, and that's the absolute perfect burn because Lily oh, so clearly WANTS to be considered a professional. She wants people to see her as a real critic with opinions worth listening to, yet all she does is rant about cartoons meant for children or anime that she thinks is "Too popular." She wants people to believe she's correct about everything, but is factually wrong due to not doing any research about the topics she dedicates her LIFE to discussing and makes assumptions based on personal preference and nothing else. And she wants to people to respect her, but demeans anyone and everyone for even THINKING about disagreeing with what she has to say about anything.

If Lily Orchard wants to be a professional, she needs to discuss more media than the same five things over and over, actually DO research even if it's so much as a ten minute Google search, and understand that, sometimes, people are going to disagree with you. A professional critic appreciates the creation of art and understands that sometimes a certain thing is made for different people. What they DON'T do is whatever the fuck you'd call what Lily does.

While Josh is one of several that live in Lily’s head rent free, 24/7 — I don’t think she keeps up with his content enough to be aware of that? Unless someone tells her. Then she’ll probably find some way to dismiss it.

I’m going to admit I’m not that knowledgeable on the Depp v. Heard situation, because around the time the case was happening, I kept hearing a lot of conflicting accounts. It seems like a whole lot of it boiled down to “both did shitty things?” But correct me if I’m wrong.

The consequences of being an abusive partner isn’t “losing your partner.“ One, not all abusive relationships end. Two, domestic abuse is actually fucking illegal, so the real consequence is jail.

Also, I think a lot of potential employers would like to know if you got charged with defamation—because if you’re willing to lie to ruin someone else’s reputation for personal gain, what is stopping you from doing the same to them if they fire you?? It’s called common sense.

here I got some slightly more obscure Lily shit for you. In the mental health questions answered video she did with KP she recommended the drug Ritalin as a way to treat autism in kids. I asked two therapists i knowand they never heard of this and from my own research Ritalin is used to help with ADHD, not autism.

Well, just in general, don’t ever trust random drug recommendations from non-professionals online. Always talk to your doctor/therapist first. (Though, tbf, you need a prescription for Ritalin anyways, so it’s not like anyone could take it w/o talking to some sort of doctor to begin with.)

I think the day I stopped taking Lily Orchard seriously was the day she used Gravity Falls as evidence that kids don't like darker, more mature media given that the show lost viewers during its second, and more mature, season. Even though...

A. The show was moved to a new channel with little promotion saying so.

B. That new channel wasn't affordable to most families who could barely pay for basic cable.

C. The show had an inconsistent airing schedule that caused fans to be unaware of when new episodes came out. To the point where the three part series finale was stretched out for a good part of a year.

D. The inconsistent schedule also offered little to no promotion of when new episodes were coming out or how many. You could wait months for four episodes, one each week, or months for just ONE episode without knowing when the next will premier.

Could the maturity be a reason why kids didn't watch? Maybe. But considering there are OTHER variables that offer other more plausible reasons, you need to provide more evidence that proves it was the maturity and not network mishandling.

Lily Orchard really, really likes to take things out of context to falsely support her own claims.

Reminds me of when she said that Dark Souls was actually praised for not being punishing when it was first released to support her claims that it wasn’t actually as difficult as Kingdom Hearts.

She conveniently left out the context that what people actually said was “Darks Souls isn’t as punishing a game…. as Demon Souls.”

Not to mention, punishing doesn’t actually mean “more difficult,” most people actually said Dark Souls was harder than Demon Souls, the open world and bonfire system just made dying more forgiving than its predecessor.

It’s so frustrating how she twists narratives like this, she wouldn’t last a single day in a professional setting. The moment someone asked for sources she would blow up and walk out, then complain online about how nobody took her seriously.

Lily has lied about her education. This isn’t as damning, but in a professional setting she would have been immediately fired and blacklisted.

Lily made up an entire person to sexually harass, catfish, and manipulate her friends. There’s numerous bits of evidence proving Tara Callie never existed, but not once has Lily ever tried to prove she was real outside of saying “because I said so.”
