idk i'd never paid much attention to past prologue aside from the opener but it's so fucking funny bc of the context it gives for everything else?? like okay garak cruises julian at the replimat (with unclear success), then gets approached by the sisters and says "shit, i need backup. who can i trust to be chill about black market dealing, yet honest enough to report it if necessary? ah yes the doctor will do nicely" ............aaand then julian flubs it so bad that garak immediately starts a book club called Espionage For Dummies. he says julian you are a baby bird. a tiny kitten. a helpless puppy all alone in a cutthroat world. you must open your eyes and learn to forage or you will never survive the winter and julian says okay 💖 yayy 💖 and by god they hold that book club every fucking tuesday for the next 5 to 7 years? only interrupted when there's an actual war on? the professional outrage was THAT strong

Now Bruce was not expecting to reincarnate upon his death. At least he thinks he died, he’s pretty sure he did. There wasn’t any other reason for him to be a well, literal baby. Around two he thinks, which fits well with the fact that it’s around that time that babies start forming memory recall, if he, well, remembered correctly. 

But while he knew about reincarnation thanks to Shayera and Carter, he’d never exactly given it much thought towards himself. Because seriously, what were the chances of such a thing as him being given another chance? 

So he was quite surprised at his situation, experimentally opening and closing pudgy hands that looked well, just a tiny bit off. He’d never been that pale before, he thinks, even back when he never went outside like, ever. 

He turned his gaze towards the mobile above him with a sort of idle curiosity- a mixture of bats (ha) and other trinkets he wasn’t familiar with. It also caused him to get his first good look at his parent, asleep on a rocking chair right next to the crib. 

Huh. They had the same pale skin he did, albeit in the light it looked like it was slightly tinted blue, and while their hair was white they didn’t exactly look old. They looked surprisingly well rested for raising a toddler too, unless they had a nanny or something similar… He rolled over, managing to very shakily push himself to his feet with the help of the crib. 

Why was standing so hard as a toddler? And why did he have his memories of everything except how he had died anyway? 

His head whipped up from where they were staring at his feet when he heard a snort, finding his parent awake and standing. Somehow silently enough that he hadn’t noticed- or he was that easily distracted by the unfamiliar giddiness bursting in his chest. 

“Morning little bat,” his parent easily picked him up and held him while he inwardly sighed at the nickname. Of course his bat motif would follow him into this life. A low rumbling almost caused him to jump, his body relaxing before he could fully register the sound. The… purring? 

Oh. 

He wasn’t human this time around.

Megatron is Dredge, a living stone statue or stone giant. Living in the far future. Not as far as Brainstorm, but in the future.

He gets a medical degree, suffers sleepless nights before an exam, and writes poetry. The regular mechs treat him with a little wariness, but no more than that. Overt oppression of monsters is long past, thanks to the efforts of Orion and many other mechs.

Megatron has never and will never meet Orion Pax, but he can see him if he looks at illustrations in historical articles.

“BUT HE WAS MINE!” D-16 yells, hands coming up to his chest. Megatron intake shuts with a stunned look in his eyes. “We had nothing- could have nothing— sure he may get into trouble too many times. Sure we had to pick up after his messes time and time again. But he was ours. And he always cared - in fact too much at times.” He glares up at Megatron, yellow eyes dipping into a darker orange, “how could you lose sight of that?”

Megatron: “… You don’t see it do you? He’s just using you.”

“And you’re blind to what you had.” D-16 snarls back, “I’ll never be like you.”

Megatron almost laughs, “You already are.”

See I held an event on Ao3 that was characters meeting their past selves and I have the urge to do it once more for Deadclaws.

Logan seeing himself as a child and just being heartbroken because this child will be doomed to go through all of that. He knows just how much pain this kid will endure.

Then baby James fascinated with Logan because this guy has all the answers. He recognizes the haunted look however and wonders just how bad it's going to be.

Logan showing off the claws or something and James just looking at him in wonder.

Then Wade who somehow ended off better then his child self is now. How he accomplished this he isn't sure but fuck at least this kid has something to look forward too. The pain and loss will be hard but it's manageable

And young Wade who is horrified at his future self but then sees past the exterior and realizes just how good it ends up being. He looks over to the other man who is looking down at another kid and puts the pieces together. They get a happy ending.

Thinking about yingdu ep1 again… I remember seeing someone talk about Lu Guang effectually killing his past self as he takes over his body, and I was just thinking about it.

He took the opportunity to fall in love for the first time from himself. Never again will he see Cheng Xiaoshi and see him as himself, unburdened by his future, all the timelines, and just let himself love. What happens in the past is controlled by the future, Lu Guang deciding to go back into the past is an event that has already happened. So was there even a university Lu Guang that wasn’t his future self inhabiting his body? Was there even a Lu Guang that got to meet Cheng Xiaoshi and fall in love with him for the first time?

i just thought of something about frostpaw’s design having a wolf motif and her huge autopsy scar - it reminds me of how in multiple fairy tales (particularly ittle red riding hood, like you mentioned in the design post), the wolves in those stories have their stomachs cut open. i just thought that was cool :3

I hadn't even considered that, but it makes it work even better. The fairytales don't even just have the wolf get their belly cut open-- they also get filled with stones and tossed in the river.

There's a clear image in my mind that when Frostpaw is put under the human tranquilizer, her mind falls backward and plunges her into liquid void. A dream takes hold, bubbles forming in the dark, her body cradled by clear water as far as she can perceive.

The unspoken knowledge of her dream tells her that she's in a raindrop, the river, the lake, and Riverstar Himself. The embodiment of water. And He is endless.

Her problems are washed away by the sheer vastness of his being, and she's just beginning to wrap her head around the marvel of it all when she opens her eyes in a den. Warm, comfortable, surrounded by hay.

The vision sloshes in her mind like dancing waves. She has a boiling desire to understand what it meant-- and the only thing that comes to mind is the Tribe of Rushing Water's philosophy that all things are connected by the river. That living by the Lake, fed by the southern delta, which rushes down from the mountain's waterfall, makes their cultures kin.

She decides to start there, and will go further south if need be. Thus begins Book 3 of BB!ASC, The Source of the River.

so abt the end of that 2.7 sunday questline

the concept of luck/chance in particular being referenced like 2 or 3 times, later concluding with a line from wonweek (who i view as sunday's id) about how he's "possessed by that ipc gambler". like that is CRAZY to me. he's really trying to embody these qualities about aven that he admires/values. sunday doesn't even deny it. he just goes on to talk about how failure is the best teacher, that you have to understand what people live/die for to save more lives. that the best way to achieve this is through "personal experience". aka living. it may be a reach but i really feel like the implication here is that he doesn't understand aventurine (because aven has had a life full of experiences the likes of which sunday probably can't even conceive of, duty-bound to penacony as he has been), but that he wants to. like badly. the reason he failed ('lost' to aventurine [and also everyone else LOL]) is his lack of experience with... life, other people, the whole thing.

there's also that interesting line about "if what i once doubted - or even opposed - becomes the force i must rely on in the future... then this time, my true heart will guide the tuning" he then tells wonweek that he will "leave it (the choice) to him". he's going to literally let his heart/instincts guide him. at this point wonweek asks if he's been possessed by aventurine lmao. like. they (wonweek/sunday) view aventurine as someone who follows their heart. meanwhile sunday following HIS heart is fucking emulating aventurine. HELLO. hoyo cooked so insanely with them the whole kitchen burned down

In season 4, I demand more Benedict and Hyacinth interactions. Gregory's off to school, Anthony and Kate are off to India, Eloise and Francesca are off to Scotland, the other two have married and moved out, so these two are the last ones under Violet's roof, I love what we've gotten of them but I need more bonding scenes. They're both hilarious and completely unhinged at times, I need more of this chaotic sibling duo.

Watchers are known to enjoy a bit of chaos and destruction, right, but they're also very into their rules and Players obeying them, taboos are very serious to them.

I think Xelqua is a Saint of destruction, a destroyer.

Despite working so hard for this and giving up his entire life for the Watchers, he becomes too much. He reaches sainthood and tears his own timeline apart, fragile things to a deity, threads of a sweater to him, but in the same movements he is solidified within all other universes as something that's always existed in Watcher's stories. belief, and stained glass.

He is a cautionary tale amongst Watchers against falling out of order, there has to be balance for everything.

All of this only happens because Grian agrees to join the Watchers, despite this version of Grian running away, this one act still sets off a chain reaction, other timelines, and in one of those timelines Xelqua is born.

Grian is guided by a version of himself that he unknowingly created and doomed
