As a queer, low-medium support needs autistic, and enby leftist, I empathize and sympathize fully with all of you. I've had issues with these people as well, and honestly, they were some of the meanest and cruelest people in high school, probably on the same level as the bigoted hicks, all the while turning right around and saying how progressive they are. I promise anyone who's still in grade school with the performative "leftists" that it does not end up like this in university or college. The leftists in college are actually leftists, and are super understanding of neurodiversity and higher support needs disabilities, at least on my campus. Especially the case with the poli sci kids, we all have a touch of the 'tism, or ADHD, or any other neurodiverse stuff and we even have stim toys in our university department lounge and call out people on ableism and other bigotries. Ableism spans across all identities, and can be compared to some trans people that can still be TERFS, so neurodivergent and disabled people can still be ableist, no one is above ableism, and no one is above transphobia. The best thing to do with these people is not associate and ignore them.

I will never understand certain people who deemed themselves as " Leftists " or "Progressives " or so-called "allies " for minorities and marginalized groups and pretend to act like they give a Fuck about said groups of people. But have no issues throwing many of said minorities and marginalized groups under the bus as "acceptable collateral damage " with Trump if he gets back in Office again.

I’m really starting to get sick of leftists the closer we get to the election. While I think some of their ideology has merit and I even agree with them on certain things, the incessant need to not compromise on any beliefs and make everything a purity test is starting to get old, fast. They act like this is the first election with an ongoing crisis overseas (it’s not) and that a candidate must completely match their belief system or else they are unworthy of a vote. Like I’m sorry you can’t be a one issue voter on a foreign policy that’s far more complex then the last ~year; especially with such a far right republican candidate/ticket. I’m sorry, but it’s incredibly selfish at this point when the rights of people in this country are actively being threatened. We can’t help others if we don’t help ourselves first.

I do think the good news is people are getting annoyed with them fast and because so many of them are young teenagers and college students, that as they go back to school and they aren’t met with the same understanding as they did at the end of the semester, they’ll change their tune quickly. They became a vocal minority at the end of the spring semester when things looked bleak and no one wanted to vote for Biden. With Kamala now running for President and galvanizing a lot of people, and I think trying to dispel any progress towards another democratic candidate will not go over well with their peers. Not to mention people are just sick of living in unprecedented political times, and I think people are getting just sick of the constant dialogue that their a moral failure by leftists and will just write them off and not give them any credence. And because it’s a largely young group, I do think that as their peers begin to judge them more harshly (especially online l) that they’ll start to fade out. The support is already dwindling and when faced with both in person and online judgement from their peers, they switch positions and never be heard from again. Sure, some will remain and be loud and annoying; but so many will just stop posting political content because they don’t want to seem to “crazy” or weird to their peers/friends.

These are really fucking important tags, but I also want to plug what I've been saying on here for eighty thousand years that the current state of Western leftism is no better. It's just hyperindividualist Protestant capitalism whose entire political "praxis" is centered around consuming only the non-problematic, finding whatever oppositional side to form a heroic cult around (see: Tankies), and using diversity tokens to deflect criticism (see: BLM and progress flag in bio). It's basically all about trying to find moral cudgels and tribal markers, instead of giving one single shit about harm reduction, material help for people in crisis or any commitment to centering and boosting the needs and voices of the oppressed. The middle class may be disappearing but the newly disenfranchised have taken all that white bourgeoisie self-involvement into leftist movements which they have now appropriated, gentrified and segregated from each other in ineffectual silos of festering resentment and little else.
