History of World Egg Day

Typically, when most tend to consider the egg, they think of those white or brown shelled emissions that come from the common chicken. Containing a small treasure with a golden yolk, and the potential to become so many things that it strains the boundaries of human imagination, the Chicken Egg has become the definitive image when the word ‘egg’ is spoken.

But these are not the only type of eggs that mankind finds valuable, consider for a moment caviar, a symbol of wealth in its own right. These are, of course, the eggs of various fish, and World Egg Day represents their importance as well.

The history of the egg expands far beyond merely a culinary concern and, in fact, has had great importance in multiple cultures for reasons both decorative and religious. In many cultures around the world, eggs have been a sign of fertility and representative of life, renewal and rebirth.

Consider for a moment the Easter Egg, where children hunt each year for brightly colored eggs or plastic shaped in the form of the egg which contains treats such as chocolate, jellybeans, or money. In fact, decorated Easter Eggs are one of the oldest forms of decorative artwork in the world. 

And what about the Faberge Eggs? Those beautiful pieces of artistic elegance created by Peter Carl Faberge from St. Petersburg, Russia. So beautiful were these that they were prized even by Czars!

How to Celebrate World Egg Day

Getting involved with celebrating World Egg Day can become an exciting adventure when it comes to celebrating everything to do with the Egg. Try out some of these ideas for celebrating the day:

Enjoy a Meal Including Eggs

Celebrating World Egg Day best starts with a great big plate of scrambled eggs served along with their most bosom companion, bacon. With a dash of salt and pepper, plus a little bit of cheese, that simple plate of eggs will be absolutely delicious!

For lunch, a great idea would be to create a sandwich upon a slice of Challah bread, a Jewish Egg bread that is nothing short of amazing. And the center of the sandwich? Well, that probably needs to be egg salad, of course. Make it with some boiled eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, and some chopped dill pickle relish. 

Those who are feeling a little bit adventurous may look and find if there are types of eggs that they have, perhaps, never tried before. Duck Eggs are especially prized, and Goose Eggs are larger than the typical chicken egg but can be quite interesting when cooked in a variety of ways.

Eggs that have a cloudy white are extremely fresh! Most eggs that come from the grocery store have been sitting around a little longer and will probably have “whites” that are actually clear and colorless. They’re still fine to eat, though, unless the “whites” are some color other than cloudy white or transparent.

Odsmażane ziemniaki z patelni po mojemu

Proste, tanie, rustykalne jedzenie. Bez żadnych pretensji do tronu, tronu po Napoleonu (jak śpiewał klasyk z klasyczką).

Ziemniaki smażone z sadzonym jajkiem to smak, który noszę zakodowany w pamięci, jako błogi i dobry. To danie przytulające, pocieszające, z angielska zwane comfort foodem.

Gdy byłam dzieckiem Mama obierała duży garnek ziemniaków, kroiła w batony długości 5-6 cm i grubości 1 cm, jak na frytki (fachowo to cięcie zwie się pont neuf), wrzucała bezpośrednio na patelnię i od czasu do czas przewracała. Po jakimś czasie dostawaliśmy na talerzach posklejane, mięciutkie w środku i przysmażone na złoto-brązowo z zewnątrz ziemniaki, które znikały w okamgnieniu. Poezja! 

Od lat nie udało mi się odtworzyć tamtych “klejonych ziemniaków”, jak je nazywałam. Nowe odmiany zastąpiły stare “do wszystkiego”, które nadawały się równie dobrze do gotowania, sałatek, placków ziemniaczanych, czy klusek. Po ich usmażeniu powstawał efekt zlepienia spowodowany wysoką zawartością skrobi. Ileż to ja razy próbowałam odzyskać na talerzu ten raj utracony! Ileż odmian bulw przerobiłam! Ileż kombinowałam z uprzednim podgotowaniem, a potem smażeniem... Nic. Ziemniaki nie garną się do siebie, jak kiedyś, nie potrzebują towarzystwa, bliskości, wzajemnej wymiany ciepła. Wolą dobrze prezentujący się na zdjęciach indywidualizm.

Gdy się nie ma, co się lubi, to się lubi, co się ma. Robię więc zwykłe odsmażane ziemniaki. Gotuję, studzę, kroję w batony lub w łódeczki i smażę do uzyskania chrupiącej skórki, obsypując szczodrze ulubionymi przyprawami. Tym razem dodałam też zaskakujący składnik: orzechy włoskie. Według mnie bardzo ciekawy pomysł. Spróbujcie, może i Wam przypadnie do gustu?

Składniki:

1 kg ziemniaków (najlepiej typu A) 4 jaja przyprawy: utarta kozieradka, słodka papryka, suszone oregano 2 łyżki orzechów włoskich sól i czarny pieprz do smaku

Wykonanie:

Ziemniaki obrać, opłukać i ugotować nie do końca (przy wbiciu widelca powinny być trochę chrupiące). Odcedzić, ostudzić i pokroić w łódeczki.

Na dużej patelni rozgrzać chlust oleju rzepakowego. Wsypać ziemniaki i smażyć pozwalając, by sobie poleżakowały w jednej pozycji 5-7 minut, zanim odwróci się je na kolejny bok. Ziemniaki w ogóle nie należą do nadpobudliwców, one potrzebują czasu, muszą się wyspać, inaczej są niestrawne.

Pod koniec smażenia, gdy łódeczki dobrze się zrumienią, obsypać solą, pieprzem, przyprawami i drobno siekanymi lub zmiksowanymi w blenderze prażonymi orzechami włoskimi. Przemieszać.

Przesunąć na jedną stronę patelni, dać kapkę oleju lub masła, wybić jaja i usmażyć.

Podawać z kefirem lub maślanką.

Oh! I love everything about this! I actually never really thought of what would happen if a host completely lost control and the legendary stepped in. With everything I've drawn so far I only have shown when it's like a fraction of a takeover. (I had some stuff planned out in my head for the webcomic I'll probably never make about the au and gris)

The end goal for like Arceus or Giratina is to turn a host into a puppet they can just freely pop in and out when needed, whether or not the vessel likes it or not.

I had the idea that Arceus itself could not directly interfere with anything or anyone, only by secondhand means, but if it possessed and created a proper vessel/line of connection, it can do whatever it pleased. So possession does take a new meaning when you add getting yanked out of your human body for a legendary to use.

The disconnection and fading away could go both ways though! Legendary pokemon are meant to be legendary pokemon, they pop into existence when required.

They don't really mesh well with a human mind and body, so when they take over a vessel for too long there is likely a chance that both host and legendary could expire together since the legendary could also lose connection with its own body. If that ever happens, whatever the legendary was in charge off might disappear. Some are very careful, others might be very reckless and seeking revenge (cough cough giratina)

With the minor legendaries, it would be easier to hop in and out and stay longer but I think that vice versa logic would still apply, but maybe the host could still have some influence. And yeah it would totally depend on how big of a role the legendary has effects. If it were Zamazenta it could go for days without much trouble, if it was Lunala things would get rockier (the moon's very heavy), if literal God takes over, maybe a few hours at most, between each time it would need days of recover due to mental and physical toll, for both vessel and legendary. (gris needs something stronger than tylenol)

Mythicals not needing vessels makes sense since I think in context they can do a lot by themselves. Celebi can zip zap around, Tornadus won't need one since it has thumbs, I don't think Miradon/Koridon count since they are literally Cyclizar's precursor/distant evolution. The bigger ones do need them sometimes since some are as tall as buildings or are water locked in the ocean.

Also fun fact about the au, I remember I came up with it after seeing some sort of fanart about Irida and Adaman being possessed and I also based most of it off of what Irida/Adaman say when the player first gets to the temple of sinnoh. They both could hear Dialga/Palkia's voice in their head and heart, which in my mind gave me the idea that legendaries could just connect with certain people for certain reasons. Why couldn't it talk to the player character instead? It had to talk to the person most closely connected to it, why? Idk maybe because of an easy influence or it just makes it easier for it to be listened.

That's also why I kind of thought Zekrom and Resirham would chose Ingo and Emmet because they hop from human to human because the legendaries want to find the closest match to the original brothers of ideals and truths as they could, for comfort and for ease of communication should they ever need the use of a vessel.

Oh, and about having Giratina and Arceus cancel each other out, it's a super cool idea since well they are opposites. Arceus created everything, Giratina distorts creation, etc etc, but the reason I have in my head for why Gris still has control is that Gris can fight them off still. It's a mental battle for Gris to hold on to who they are and push away any influence either one is causing. Also when both legendaries clash heads, both are trying to get rid of their hold on Gris so one can finally have full control. It's a three way tug of war. But in the au it is getting harder and harder for them to remain in control. It kind of plays along with Gris wanting to leave Alola and find new purpose after losing the championship in such a way. The Ingo reason though, is I'm personally signing that it into the little au canon lore stuff in the fanciest calligraphy pen I can find. Zekrom totally could at one point, but yeah both are so broken in a way that connection/ability can never really be restored. Ingo's a broken host and Zekrom's a broken overseer that doesn't know how to puppet right anymore.

Hey @grismavessel saw the ask you mentioned me in so I'm posting this to help flesh out the vessel au for Zekrom Ingo

Major Legendaries can take control of their hosts temporarily, it'll displace their soul to the outside so ghost pokemon and the Locario line can see the human soul hanging around a vessel's body. Should the soul be outside for to long the connection fades and the vessel dies.

Minor Legendaries can project themselves to talk face to face with their vessels. Also, with possession being longer without as many problems with the domain not being all encompassing.(time, space, etc)

Finally mythicals don't need vessels as their are multiples of them.

The reason Gris and Ingo are in control is because Gris has two legendaries, and the energy of the other cancels out any possession. While Ingo is a broken vessel with both him and zekrom being affected, so possession is impossible with them both being in discord.

Riddle Rosehearts��- I don't ljke him. If we're talking pre-overblot he'd banish you to that headlock thing with his unique magic if you ever tried to ask him out or flirt with him. Post-overblot hed be really shy in getting into a relationship but wants to be cared for and protected. But he's not standing up for u in front of his mom tho you'll have to deal with her urself

6/10 he’s a sweet boy, just too bossy and not assertive enough to his mom. Divorceablity is quite high with this one.

Cater Diamonds - low-key relatable to me. BUT. His slang gets annoying after a while. His constant posting without peoples permission is weird too. Picture this. He's meeting your family for the first time, and you sit to have dinner. Cater takes a pic of you guys and posts it with the caption "With bae their fam, I'm a bit nervous guys wish me luck!🥺"#girldad #boymom #saveme Your family assumed it's his humor. WRONG. It's his way of coping with his uncomfortability. When it's silent during dinner he says" OH EM GEE GIRLYPOPS!!!, this food is so SLAY💅!! Tysm bestiessss" Your family gives him the nastiest side eye. He never speaks again. 

7/10 he seems to be a pretty sweet and understanding person, just needs better ways to express himself . Also he calls your mother queenie.

Trey Clover - he’s an interesting guy. You'll typically see him as an npc, but he's much more than that. Have you seen his *tips fedora * "m'lady" stare?? Yeah there's definitely something strange going on there. He's a pretty family oriented guy tho, and he loves to bake for his s/o and to provide comfort and care.

8/10 he's probably one of the more normal ones that I would actually date. Or be friends with. Just keep one eye open when your sleeping with ur with him tho

Summary: Working at a night club was difficult in many aspects, your sleep schedule was messed up for life, your feet were more used to high heels than sneakers and you had to lie about where you went to work those nights. Still, even with all those cons, you didn't hate your job, you had more than enough to pay your bills, feed your brother and save money for his college. However, what happens when your boss makes you do the one thing you asked to never do.

Mondays became the new Fridays.

Anton had completely stopped booking the VIP room for him and his friends and disappeared until Monday came, the girls were sad at first, missing his expensive champagne and pretty face, but since his friends didn’t stop coming and they also brought their own drinks to share they quickly got over it.

Shotaro was elated to have now two big incomes in the week instead of just one, and every time he saw you around, he patted your back as if he was congratulating you for making the right choice.

You don’t know how right was to accept his money, the first time you told yourself you deserved it as compensation for all the stress he caused you, but after the fourth time you had started to feel bad receiving the wad of cash when all you two did was talk and sometimes drink, and you didn’t even drink with him, you just made sure his glass was full while you talked about recipes you had tried days before, how clients had treated you during the week, or maybe some gossip you heard around.

And he always kept the conversation flowing so smoothly that, before you noticed, you had started to talk about things you wanted too, from the simplest dish you had tried in your infancy to the coat you had seen when you were window shopping at the mall.

‘’I can buy it for you’’ he answered when you described the long black coat you saw that weekend.

You denied, ‘’It’s okay Anton, it’s not that I can’t, but there are more important things I could buy with that money.’’

‘’Like what?’’ he seemed sincerely curious about what else you had to do with money instead of buying yourself something truly wanted.

Saying you could buy your brother more practice books was impossible, you hadn’t talk about that kind of personal aspects of your life. Also, you asked yourself, would he be able to understand you? You saw the gold earrings he had on each of his ear globes, drops shiny enough to know they weren’t fake like the ones you bought yourself in the little fairs you visited when you had time, and you didn’t dare to even guess the price, because you were sure they costed enough to pay at least four months of your rent.

‘’Like food or, I don’t know, pay my bills, I don’t feel good wasting too much money on myself.’’

‘’Why would it be a waste to buy yourself something you want? Of course, those things are important, but gifting yourself things you want too.’’

He wouldn’t understand you at all. You couldn’t tell him how a two thousand coat was not something you could gift yourself, you had a mouth to feed, a student to maintain, and when you were young you never appreciated how much your mother did for you, but now that you were on her shoes, you understood why she collapsed after so many years taking care of you two without thinking about her own health. You couldn’t even afford fruit when you were young, you would be happy if you had a fried egg in your lunch, and now you decided that eating two fruits a day was a better decision than buying some piece of cloth that your brother wouldn’t find useful at all.

‘’I shouldn’t, I have to think about the future, I don’t know what could happen tomorrow.’’ You saw his glass half empty and tried to fill it again to avoid his eyes on you.

Minutes passed and the uncomfortable silence that you had forgotten about after so many times together came again, making you shrug in your spot, wishing you hadn’t talked about that. He seemed to deeply think about something while slowly nodding and sipping his glass full again, and before you were about to change the subject to something one of the girls had said about him, he interrupted you.

‘’What I give to you is not enough? Should I give you more?’’

‘’Anton in first place I don’t know why you give me so much money, you could have any girl in this place, you don’t have to put up with me.’’

His hand found yours and, caressing the back of it to calm you, he sighed.

After so many nights talking until Sungchan called for you, he had learned many things about you, how you enjoyed sweets a lot, how you always had a praise for the people you worked with and how you never recognized how special you were.

‘’Can I ask you a favor?’’ You, tired of hearing that phrase, like always, stayed silent until the other person said what wanted from you. ‘’Could you treat yourself a little better? The tenderness with what he said it made you blush and, grateful for the room to be so dark and your foundation so good, you let him hold your hand.

He chuckled when your smokey eyes met his, seeing you so shy with just a grasp of his hand after knowing how bold you could be was a charm he didn’t expect from you, and when he saw how your ears betrayed you, all red and obvious even with the dim light of the place, he found himself as lost as when you took off your robe and showed him your pretty set of lingerie.

The occasion never repeated, you two strictly talked and got to know each other, so he never received another of your shows again. Kind of sad, but he didn’t mind, seeing your soft face and hearing your voice was enough to keep him satisfied the whole night.

However, he thought about you a lot more the next days, sometimes he thought about calling your boss and asking for more of your time on random days, but he didn’t want to scare you away when you were getting so close. For him, you were just like one of those stray cats he had seen around his elite school when he was younger. His friends and he would sneak some food a couple of times, and they would instantly run away from them and hide if they weren’t careful enough, and even if with every encounter they would warm up and occasionally accept to be petted, just the action of one of the immature boys, like putting too much pressure with their hands or being too loud, would be enough to make them run away, and would have to start all over again.

Your eyes met his and, holding all his desire to give you a kiss over your nude lips, he focused his attention on going back to the conversation.

‘’So, what do you say, will you do me that favor?’’

You hummed with a smile, you were tired of favors, but this was the first time you didn’t mind that someone asked you for one. ‘’I’ll think about it.’’

Testing the waters, he pulled the hand he was holding and gave it a quick but delicate peck. ‘’Knowing that you will think about me later it’s enough for me.’’

Not believing his cheesy line you scoffed, ‘’I’ll think about what you said, not about you.’’

‘’Well, just so you know, I’m always thinking about you.’’

Your laugh brought him joy again, whipped with the sound of it, he always left feeling victorious if he made you laugh during the night.

He kissed your wrist this time, and you didn’t pull your hand away, so he felt he had advanced a big step with you after so many nights.

‘’Why don’t you come Fridays anymore? The girls miss you’’ you changed subjects, like you always did when Anton, or made you uncomfortable, or made you too comfortable.

‘’And you? Do you miss me?’’ he replied kissing your index finger.

‘’Sometimes, your champagne is better than your friend’s’’ you had no idea how it tasted, but it always smelled good, so you decided it wasn’t exactly a lie.
