RTM (Rumah Tangga Muda): Melanjutkan Mimpi

FLASH REPORT: American YouTuber 'IShowSpeed' arrives in the Philippines, causes Fan Frenzy for meet-and-greet in BGC [#TeleRadyoSerbisyoEXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
(Written by Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / Freelanced News Writer, Online Media Reporter and News Presenter of OneNETnews)
TAGUIG, NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION -- The American variety and veteran YouTube sensation 'Mr. Darren Jason Watkins Jr.', finally set foot in the country today, part of his highly anticipated Southeast Asia tour. This arrival of the 19 y/o Ohio state native, straight from the United States of America (U.S.A.), created frenzy among his Filipino fanbase, which led to huge masses of crowds and traffic jams across Metro Manila.
Indeed, his Philippine adventure started off with a bang. He played at a local basketball court in 'Brgy. 39, Zone 3, District 1' in 'Tondo, Metro Manila, National Capital Region'. The place was thronged with fans as the eagerness got the better of everyone to get a glimpse of the male YouTube star. It set the tone for a day that became truly frenzy-filled and filled with fervor.
Before going to the heart of the city, IShowSpeed made a quick detour to a local Chowking branch on Bustos Street, Sta. Cruz, this said city and province. The fast-food stop served as an emergency impromptu meet-and-greet location, where he was sat and hydrate himself in plain cold water, as eager fans were gathered outside to catch a glimpse of their online male YouTuber idol. He followed up his interest in Filipino culture by riding on top of a Kalesa, a horse-drawn transportation contraption, waving a Philippine flag to the delight of all that watched, helping spur his growing entourage on in excitement.
The joyride to BGC turned out to be a spectacle in its own right, as the male YouTube star replaced Kalesa with a motorbike, knowingly called as 'habal-habal'. The ride through busy Manila attracted even more attention; traffic came to a halt with fans trying to stay alongside their idol.
The chaotic night concluded before 7:30pm at 5th Avenue, BGC, in a Mercedes-Benz showroom, where IShowSpeed found refuge amidst a sea of people. Outside the unforgettable local dealership at Cats Motors Incorporated (CMI), chaos was at nothing less than pandemonium. If this day wasn't exciting enough, IShowSpeed teasingly posted to the internet media, including 'TeleRadyo Serbisyo: Dumaguete' and 'OneNETnews' that he would be meeting the Boxing legend and former senator "Manny Dapidran 'PacMan' Pacquiao", scheduled for tomorrow on Thursday (September 12th, 2024 -- Manila local time) when social media would once again go ablaze in the star-studded encounter.
In LIVE chats throughout the night, rumors are rife that the IShowSpeed Philippine Tour may well extend to the Visayas region on Day 2, including Cebu, Bacolod, Dumaguete and Siquijor. For now, unfortunately much however, Mindanao appears to be out of its itinerary.
IShowSpeed's arrival most certainly has left an indelible mark within the Philippines, and his livestream drew in more than 300,000 viewers from around the world, over half from the Philippines with 56% online audience share in this video sharing platform. And as this male YouTube star still goes on a rampage in this South East Asian adventure, one thing is for sure: IShowSpeed fever has finally swept the nation of the Philippines, and it isn't going away anytime soon.
This ongoing tour to South East Asia would be continued across the continent, first stopping in Thailand and later adding probably with the likes of Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia -- all for this month of September 2024.

Sun-J: It all started in the 1980s in the television industry. Many of the filmmakers who are now freelancing started their careers in the television industry. Back then, to become a filmmaker, you had to be dependent on a TV station, and I too was part of a production house. I decided to work in the television industry, making dramas and other productions to learn more about the industry. I had the option of working in the Malay film industry or becoming a journalist, however, I wanted to make my own Tamil films with an independent spirit, so I started my own production house in 2011.
From the 1990s to the early 2000s, the Malaysian Indian film industry was controlled by a small group of people. Without them, it was difficult to break into the industry, but suddenly around 2006, the industry opened up and anyone could become a filmmaker. So I was in a generation in-between.
With the spread of digital cameras, Final Cut Pro (video editing software for professionals) became widely used around 2006, and with the expansion of social media, it became possible for people to produce and post their own videos. “Fire on Water” is set around 2004 to early 2010, so it depicts the analog and digital eras, separated by around the year 2006.
Another turning point in the Malaysian Indian film industry was the inclusion of non-Malay films, such as Tamil and Chinese, in the “Skim Wajib Tayang” (Compulsory Screening Scheme), which was previously only for Malay-language films, enabling Tamil-language films to be screened in major cinemas in the country since 2012. And in recent years, social media has become the new platform for people. TikTok, in particular, has seen some influencers earning significant income.

Introducing the co-founder of MaxiBlocks
Free WordPress page builder MaxiBlocks
Tumblr media
I am Kyra Pieterse Co-Founder of Maxiblocks. I am originally from South Africa but now live in Lisbon (Portugal). I am what I like to call myself a slowmad. We have moved around a lot but tend to stay for at least a year in a country. I have lived in South Africa, Dubai, Malaysia, Vietnam, Spain, Malta and Berlin (Germany) I am a designer more than a developer, and I stopped coding many years ago.
The Journey Began
I have been a web designer since 1999, and my career began before WordPress. I started old school with Dreamweaver and Flash. My designs tend to be more interactive than most, and I think this is because of my Flash background. The web kind of became boring, so I hope to breathe some life back into web design.
I found WordPress in 2010 when I was living and freelancing in Vietnam. It was love at first use. Making my own custom themes was easy for me as I have some coding background, although they were simple themes.
The Need for “MaxiBlocks”
Tumblr media
MaxiBlocks
Our first digital product (company) Is Divi Den. We started this almost 7 years ago. We have been very successful selling Divi Layouts.
We started MaxiBlocks out of our own frustration from our support. We have been forced to use CSS and code to make our layouts in Divi. When Gutenberg launched, we saw it as an opportunity to create our own solution. Building on top of Gutenberg has been hard. Much harder than I thought it would be. And it took much longer than we planned. The challenges are the slow pace of the core development and building on top of a moving object. Each update they make sets us back as we have to stop everything to fix it. But even with these challenges, I am very proud of the end result. We have made all these designs.
The full article of this profile can be found at WPFounders.

Is it still a dream come true if it happens past (your) deadline?
I have a habit of putting a deadline for everything I set out to do. While this has helped me establish a good work ethic (as a freelancer, deadlines are the way of life!), it has, no doubt, also caused plenty of frustrations over perceived failures over the years.
One of my lifelong dreams, when I started out as a travel writer, was to write for an airline inflight magazine, be it AirAsia's Travel 360, Malaysia Airlines' Going Places, etc. I remember writing my first pitch to Travel 360 circa 2009 (when I first learned how to pitch stories) on the Kudat Riviera, which I was just dying to visit at the time.
No prizes for guessing that I never got a reply. At that time, I was a new unpolished writer who had only been writing for over a year; with no solid body of work to show save for sample articles with more adverbs than necessary.
Anyway, I finally visited Kudat Riviera in 2012 to write for a local travel magazine -- three years after the said pitch was made. I visited it again in 2016 for two articles in a property magazine and a national paper. I had to wait quite a while for this one dream to come to pass, but was it worth the wait? You bet.
A month ago, a friend of mine -- whom I had met at a writing workshop in 2010 -- came across an article writing opportunity and was kind enough to share it with me.
A pitch, several back-and-forth emails and a brief later, I finally completed the article yesterday. It was for the June issue of Going Places -- Malaysia Airlines' inflight magazine.
Finally (!) after 14 long years, God eventually said yes to my dream of writing for an inflight magazine! It may seem trivial to some, but I can't imagine anything more satisfying than getting travellers to read your story while being stuck in a plane! I hope this opportunity is only the first of many!
It's true what they say: opportunities will come, but they must first find you working. And work, I have.

i see this take so often, i have genuinely lost any ability to tell if people are joking, or if they just really have never spent even 5 minutes researching how and where vfx actually gets made
yes, vfx artists in the USA should unionise. basically every profession should unionise. but that would not stop the use of vfx in movies. it probably wouldn't impact it at all, in fact
because 90%+ of it isn't done in the USA
cgi is the one aspect of film-making that can be very easily exported to another country without any impact on the film-making process. cgi artists don't need to be in the same country as the filming location, they don't need to work collaboratively with the other film-makers the way most jobs in the industry do. yes there is collaboration, but it's with the other vfx artists, or it's weekly meetings with the director, art director or studio to check what they're making is in line with the concept art. that can be done over zoom, or by phone with very little difficulty.
the bulk of vfx art isn't being done in the USA, even for the big US based houses, it's done in malaysia, korea, china, india
there's also a lot of freelancers, and non-contract employees, in the industry which makes labor organising harder, even if forming a union would uncomplicatedly fix the problem, rather than just pushing even more of the work overseas
again, I am not saying they shouldn't unionise, they should, (and so should vfx artists around the world, and so should the games industry which has a lot of crossover with movie vfx) but it's not the panacea y'all seem to think it is
(also, do not believe the internet when it tells you how much of modern movies are cgi, it's usually wildly wrong. I saw people on this hellsite angry that black panther 2 got a best costumes oscar nomination because 'all the costumes are cgi anyway'. literally none of the costumes in that movie were cgi, they were incredible works of art that very skilled craftsmen spent hundreds of hours of work on so that they'd move correctly both on land and underwater, and it fully deserved the nomination. there absolutely is an over realiance on cgi, but it's nothing like as bad as weirdos who refuse to use google want to tell you it is)
(also also the mcu has the symptoms of a lot of the big problems in hollywood right now, but it is the cause of none of them. that's not how creating art works. the problem is late stage capitalism and the studio system, and the mcu ending tomorrow would have 0 impact on either.)
CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it's part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions

Top Reasons to Leverage a Travel Blog
While planning your next vacation to interesting places in Malaysia, it is easy to feel overpowered with the wide range of places to visit. One way or the other, this shouldn't deter you quest of having a fun and remarkable experience in the wake of spending the greater part of your time working or at school. The good news is you can leverage the internet to effortlessly plan your own trips.
By this we are simply implying to leveraging travel blogs to find out more about the different interesting places in Malaysia to visit. While it could sound like a waste of your precious time, the best travel blog has all the information you really want to make your trip fascinating. Below are top reasons to count on a travel blog while planning your next trip.
Before starting as a travel blogger, you really want to have a clear idea of what travelers want. In many cases, travel bloggers are independent with many doing it as a hobby. Notwithstanding this, the opinions you get from these blogs are unbiased. That is easy to see the reason why since they offer an authentic counterpoint to the big publications and write pieces when the opinions are raw and fresh. For this reason, you will not need to miss out on the information you really want.
While certain individuals just view travel blogs as a gate pass to working opportunities for freelance writing, there is something else to it besides what might be expected. Most travel bloggers are passionate about what they do. Not to mention, they are more than willing to stay up with everything that is transpiring in the travel industry.
Through a travel blog, you can get basic information like opening times and pricing. Everything necessary is to search for a name of the interesting places in Malaysia you plan to visit online followed by the word 'blog.' then you'll find each piece of information you want regarding the place.
For frequent travelers, online travel blogs will serve as a good starting point while preparing themselves for the journey ahead. In any case, with the sheer number of travel bloggers popping up pretty much every other day, you should be certain you are counting on the best. One way or another, you can never downplay the benefits of leveraging travel blogs the next place you deciding on touring interesting places in Malaysia.

The Rise of Virtual Offices in Malaysia: Why Businesses Are Making the Shift
Tumblr media
The idea of a virtual office has gained tremendous popularity in Malaysia in recent years, changing how businesses function. With the growing ability of the global workforce to be agile and with technology moving forward, many companies are rethinking the traditional office setup. Instead of spending money on expensive physical spaces, they use flexible and efficient virtual office solutions. So what is driving this shift, and why is Malaysia becoming a hub for virtual offices?
Cost-Efficiency: The Prime Driver
The biggest reason businesses are moving towards virtual offices is the vast savings. Starting a business in Kuala Lumpur or Penang can be expensive, especially if you're a startup or small-to-medium enterprise (SME). This abstract virtual office eliminates the need for a physical workplace, saving on maintenance, utilities and real estate expenses.
That means businesses don't have to spend so many dollars and keep them on the same old things — they can channel the budget to more growth-oriented stuff like marketing and even talent acquisition.
Improved Flexibility and Work-Life Balance
Since the rise of remote work culture, businesses have become more focused on being flexible. With virtual offices, employees can work from anywhere, manage their schedules, and achieve better work-life balance.
This flexibility for employers means more productivity and job satisfaction for team members. Furthermore, virtual offices are great because companies can quickly adjust to different situations, for example, scaling up staff or entering new markets without having the same constraints as a physical office.
Public Image and Credibility
The advantage of having a virtual office in Malaysia is that it provides businesses with a prestigious business address without the cost of leasing a real space. It is essential for startups and freelancers who want to build trust with their clients. Virtual offices in Malaysia often provide well-known addresses in commercial districts, which helps a business have a professional image.
Technology at the Core
Technology at the Core
Advancements in technology have made it easier for us to shift to virtual offices. With cloud computing, high-speed internet and collaborative tools like Zoom, Slack and Google Workspace, it's easy for teams to work together, regardless of where they're located. Virtual offices in Malaysia usually have high-tech equipment to support businesses, such as virtual receptionists and secure communication channels.
Environmental Sustainability
With businesses looking to do more with sustainability, virtual offices are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional offices. Companies can reduce their carbon footprint immensely by reducing the need for daily commutes and physical infrastructure. This is a significant factor in the popularity of virtual offices in a country like Malaysia, where environmental concerns are becoming more critical.
Make the Shift Today
The virtual office in Malaysia is a new era of business operations focusing on flexibility, cost efficiency and sustainability. If you're a startup trying to get your name out there or an established company that wants to modernize your operations, a virtual office may be just what you need.
Are you looking to explore virtual office solutions in Malaysia? Triune offers premium virtual office packages to meet your business needs. They take care of everything you need to be successful in today's competitive environment with their range of services and prime business address. Visit today at https://triune.com.my/ and take your business to new heights!
