Conflict sparked along your hips, starting all from Carlisle's cold hands guided by tunnel vision. Cock sunken deep within your warm mortal insides, making the sliver venom rush to his face. Foggily watching as his face glows in the dim rays of the sunrise.
Spiraled on the bed, pillows had been kicked off while others brought comfort, propping parts of your body up for Carlisle to devour.
Moans danced around the room, pathed into both of your ears, accompanied by the instrumentals of the bed threatening to break under Carlisle's unmerciful movements of love. Dull pain stung around your body with the waves of feral pleasure, it all mixing into a perfect harmony that you sang to, enchaining the vampire further.
Leaning in, burying his hips into you, wanting to feel every inch of you, loving as your head drew back, hearing as his balls slammed against you with eyes blinded by the euphoric feeling.
"Carlisle," you plead, but he ignores you, leaving you to burst at the seams, watching as you arched back, whining out his name, pulling your vampire lover close to his climax.
Not having to wait long, hearing as his heavy breaths increased, his groans so close to your ear threatening to reignite a hunger for another round. Moans curl out of your throat, feeding his greed to cum. Quickly pull out of you, leaving a sharp emptiness, trading it for a white warmth that spilled atop your body.
Purple bruises shined in the morning sun's light, painting a timeline of the night, some resembling the silhouette of hands now etched on your body for the next two weeks. Two weeks of having to remind your passionate lover of their existence the next time he wanted to make more.

So in Your modern au the lamb has running the world for the last thousand years I’m guessing that they gave narinder some space but I’m guessing narinder must know the lamb at this point could find him or knows where he is so I guess the lamb is now the one who waits but for how much longer
Yes! But Narinder just kind of put it in a side of his mind and don't think about it after 500 years without seeing the Lamb. So that's why he doesn't really care about all the Lamb pentacles he sees everywhere.
Lambert ''allowed'' him to run away, because after 1000 years enchained he deserved to be free and do explore the world if he wanted it.
But Lambert is looking forward to see him again and they are impatient

Y'know what's a severely underrated duo in Rain Code that I desperately wish we got to see more interactions between them in-game? And for once I'm not talkin' about Yakou n Yomi (though that is also a candidate), I'm talkin' about Vivia and Shinigami!
Before Rain Code released, I hoped these two would become phantom friends, but I like them even more as frenemies! The fact that Vivia's connection to the spiritual plane is so strong that he can basically do whatever he pleases and still maintain all of his memories when entering and exiting the Mystery Labyrinths makes for such an interesting dynamic where Shinigami has someone who actually intimidates her. Sure, she tries to play it off, but there's an undeniable sense of active frustration n maybe even a hint of envy (that 'he's just special' line sold this for me) toward Vivia. In her eyes, he has all this power, and yet he's as lazy as a rock! He sleeps around all day, and she's unafraid to bash him for his lack of motivation, but she's just as guilty!

She's a total hypocrite to Vivia and I adore that. They both just want their naps... and their freedom. Freedom from the book and the pact, and freedom from the WDO. Both enchained to an organization that forces them to work for it. But if there's the possibility that Vivia could break free from his binds to the WDO, then maybe there's hope that Shinigami can be granted a life outside of the book and any future pacts as well.
Yeah I'd buy the entire stock of a spin-off of Vivia and Shinigami being the main duo.

Jean Valjean Takes His Revenge
When Jean Valjean was left alone with Javert, he untied the rope which fastened the prisoner across the middle of the body, and the knot of which was under the table. After this he made him a sign to rise.
Javert obeyed with that indefinable smile in which the supremacy of enchained authority is condensed.
Jean Valjean took Javert by the martingale, as one would take a beast of burden by the breast-band, and, dragging the latter after him, emerged from the wine-shop slowly, because Javert, with his impeded limbs, could take only very short steps.
Jean Valjean had the pistol in his hand.

In this manner they crossed the inner trapezium of the barricade. The insurgents, all intent on the attack, which was imminent, had their backs turned to these two.
Marius alone, stationed on one side, at the extreme left of the barricade, saw them pass. This group of victim and executioner was illuminated by the sepulchral light which he bore in his own soul.
Jean Valjean with some difficulty, but without relaxing his hold for a single instant, made Javert, pinioned as he was, scale the little entrenchment in the Mondétour lane.

When they had crossed this barrier, they found themselves alone in the lane. No one saw them. Among the heap they could distinguish a livid face, streaming hair, a pierced hand and the half nude breast of a woman. It was Éponine. The corner of the houses hid them from the insurgents. The corpses carried away from the barricade formed a terrible pile a few paces distant.
Javert gazed askance at this body, and, profoundly calm, said in a low tone:
“It strikes me that I know that girl.”
Then he turned to Jean Valjean.
Jean Valjean thrust the pistol under his arm and fixed on Javert a look which it required no words to interpret: “Javert, it is I.”
Javert replied:
“Take your revenge.”

“A clasp-knife!” exclaimed Javert, “you are right. That suits you better.”
Jean Valjean cut the martingale which Javert had about his neck, then he cut the cords on his wrists, then, stooping down, he cut the cord on his feet; and, straightening himself up, he said to him:
“You are free.”

Javert was not easily astonished. Still, master of himself though he was, he could not repress a start. He remained open-mouthed and motionless.
Jean Valjean continued:
“I do not think that I shall escape from this place. But if, by chance, I do, I live, under the name of Fauchelevent, in the Rue de l’Homme Armé, No. 7.”
Javert snarled like a tiger, which made him half open one corner of his mouth, and he muttered between his teeth:
“Have a care.”
“Go,” said Jean Valjean.

Javert began again:
“Thou saidst Fauchelevent, Rue de l’Homme Armé?”
“Number 7.”
Javert repeated in a low voice:—“Number 7.”
He buttoned up his coat once more, resumed the military stiffness between his shoulders, made a half turn, folded his arms and, supporting his chin on one of his hands, he set out in the direction of the Halles. Jean Valjean followed him with his eyes:
A few minutes later, Javert turned round and shouted to Jean Valjean:
“You annoy me. Kill me, rather.”

Javert himself did not notice that he no longer addressed Jean Valjean as “thou.”
“Be off with you,” said Jean Valjean.
Javert retreated slowly. A moment later he turned the corner of the Rue des Prêcheurs.

When Javert had disappeared, Jean Valjean fired his pistol in the air.
Then he returned to the barricade and said:
“It is done.”

In the meanwhile, this is what had taken place.
Marius, more intent on the outside than on the interior, had not, up to that time, taken a good look at the pinioned spy in the dark background of the tap-room.
When he beheld him in broad daylight, striding over the barricade in order to proceed to his death, he recognized him. Something suddenly recurred to his mind. He recalled the inspector of the Rue de Pontoise, and the two pistols which the latter had handed to him and which he, Marius, had used in this very barricade, and not only did he recall his face, but his name as well.
This recollection was misty and troubled, however, like all his ideas.
It was not an affirmation that he made, but a question which he put to himself:
“Is not that the inspector of police who told me that his name was Javert?”
Perhaps there was still time to intervene in behalf of that man. But, in the first place, he must know whether this was Javert.
Marius called to Enjolras, who had just stationed himself at the other extremity of the barricade:
“Enjolras!”
“What?”
“What is the name of yonder man?”
“What man?”
“The police agent. Do you know his name?”
“Of course. He told us.”
“What is it?”
“Javert.”

The Karmic Law of the Vegetarian Diet, by Huzur Baba Sawan Singh
Sawan Singh: “I must point out that animal food, even if a single particle is eaten, is detrimental to spiritual progress.” (Spiritual Gems, Letter 21)
“A human being cannot comprehend the existence of God and His creation until he has succeeded in getting his soul free from the bondage of the five Tattwas, the twenty-five Prakritis, the three Gunas, Maya and Mind — all of which are enveloping it here — until he has emancipated his soul from every one of these errors and taken it beyond the sphere of mind and intellect, and opened his internal vision. Only then is the soul able to know itself and understand what it is made of.
“After that, it becomes fit to seek its Creator and to find out the ocean from which it originally descended, as well as the means to regain it. Consequently, before a disciple has succeeded in getting rid of these chains, it shall be sufficient for him to know that this world can be divided into two parts, land and water.
“The creatures of water live upon each other. Nature has not provided them with any other means of subsistence. Big fish are eating the little ones, etc. The same holds true of the land. Lions and tigers eat up wolves and jackals. The latter subsist on the meat of sheep, goats, etc. They, in turn, eat plants. Hawks eat smaller birds. Birds eat insects, and men eat most every form of life, so far as climate and special circumstances of their own countries permit.
“Every grain, every plant, has life in it. Hindu philosophy has acknowledged this fact since very ancient times. Dr. Bose has demonstrated this fact to the European world by his experiments, showing that plants feel and breathe, and have souls. If a ray of light is allowed to penetrate a dark room, the microscope reveals numberless germs floating in the air of that room. The whole room seems to be full of this germ life. When we breathe, these tiny creatures go inside of us and die. When we walk, numberless creatures are killed by contact with us, and countless others are crushed beneath our feet. The same is true when we drink water. The microscope reveals myriads of tiny creatures in a tumbler of water; and these we drink to their death every day. Souls would appear to be literally packed together in all space in our world. If we put down a needle point on the earth, countless germs may be found beneath its point.
“And so, in our world, life is everywhere destroying life. In such a world where one creature is eating up another, it is impossible to expect either justice or peace of mind. (There is no rest or security anymore.) Therefore, when the ancient sages found that in this world creatures were destroying each other, they decided it was better to give up the world. They found that in such a world there could be no peace of mind, and it was impossible to attain bliss until and unless the soul breaks away from the bonds which have kept it enchained; and that it was folly to regard the pleasures of this world as a means to happiness, because they lead to hell and further bind the soul with Karma and dirt.
“They determined that it was impossible to find peace of mind in any worldly object, and that happiness lies within man himself and that ocean of which he is a drop. Therefore, the Sages thought, as long as they were confined in the prison of this world, they would adopt the course which was the least harmful; they would subsist on creatures the killing of which was the least sinful. They discovered that all living beings of this world could be divided into classes as regards the composition of their bodies and the number of elements they contain. By elements they did not mean the ninety or so elements discovered by modern scientists, but the main conditions or divisions of matter.
“There are five such classes of substances. According to their classification, under class one, came all of those creatures in whom all five of these substances are active, that is, man. In the next class came those in which only four substances are active and one dormant, and that is quadrupeds. In them there is no sense of discrimination, because in them the Akash Tattwa is dormant. In the third class fell creatures in which only three substances are active, namely air, water, and fire. They are birds. They lack earth and Akash. The fourth class is made up of insects, in which only two substances are active, air and fire. Then comes the last class, the fifth, in which only one element or substance is active, that is, the vegetable world. In them, water is the only active element. Experts have proved that, in many vegetables, there is as much as ninety-five percent water. When the creatures of the other four classes are killed or injured, they cry out in pain, but not so the vegetables, though they have life. So the Sages concluded that the eating of vegetables was the least sinful, (the least burdened with karma). Although the eating of vegetables produced some karma, yet it was of a light nature, which could be easily worked off by spiritual exercises. They thus chose the course of least resistance, and so abstained from the killing of other forms of life.
“The method of practice of the Sound Current is the only method by which to escape this jail into which we are born. This method is natural, and it was not designed by man. It is as old as the beginning of creation. The Creator is ONE, and therefore the Way to reach Him is ONE, and it is in the interior of every human being. It is incapable of alteration, modification, addition, or improvement. Man is to reach the ocean of his Origin by means of ascending the Sound Current, irrespective of any caste, creed, nationality, or sex. It is a practice for the awakening of powers within us. By slow degrees, our souls will emerge from the grave of the body or vacate it. In the body there are nine openings through which the soul communicates with this world, and these the soul learns to close and to fix its attention at the back of the eyes. Then it begins to traverse higher planes. When it attains Turya Pad (astral), it will acquire control over the mind, senses, lust, anger, avarice, attachment, and egotism. At present the soul is under the control of mind, which itself is under the control of the senses. When we gain the astral, after leaving the material, the soul gains control over the mind. When we get beyond the astral and the heavens and hells which are within the astral, all of these are left behind. The soul will then hold these in contempt, and then it will go to Brahm Lok, or the Causal plane, which contains Mukti, or Salvation planes.
“Brahm is also the servant of Par-Brahm. Therefore, leaving Brahm, the soul should go to the ParBrahm, where it will be freed from all its shackles. On reaching Par-Brahm, all the material, astral, and causative coverings of mind and matter that envelope the soul are removed. Then the soul is pure spirit. This is self-realization. Here there is no form, no cover, no shape, no youth nor old age — only the soul, shining in its pure radiance — a drop of existence, knowledge, and bliss, capable of comprehending the Great Ocean, its Creator. Now the drop tries to reach and mingle with the Ocean.
“So, it is here, in Par-Brahm, that one begins to realize the full significance of Sant Mat. Hence, the only medicine for all of our ailments is the practice of the Holy Sound together with the Master’s spiritual help and guidance. The Master is not a body only. He is the Power which guides and helps us at every stage and in every region during our inward spiritual journey. When we are in the physical body, He instructs us in His physical form. When we go inward to the Astral Planes, He is in the Astral Form, and, as we proceed further, He assumes the form of each region all the way up to Sach Khand (our true home).”

Often it's a sign of a toxic relationship when a friend never considers their part in things and if they could be responsible in any way for something. It's especially toxic if they stubbornly ignore your perspective of events and just keep banging on about theirs as if they're the sole authority.
I've had friends who are like a brick wall when you try to tell them you disagree. Ones that hammer at your perspective until you capitulate to theirs. Ones that bring up out of the blue some past event from long ago that you barely just remember and try to reframe it in their favour, chiding you and trying to make you feel guilty for 'letting them down' even though what they're saying doesn't sound correct to you. The last one really sent alarm bells ringing.
Suffice to say, my life became much better once I ditched those friends. At first it was hard, as routines and habits are difficult to break. Some days, sometimes, as the past blurs between the good and bad, you'd have delusional moments of yearning and nostalgia to go back to what you're used to. But, once I got through that and came out the other side, I felt much lighter, less stressed and less enchained to misery. I actually feel happy at times these days, and certainly more free.
Time is a healer.
Always remember that friendships are voluntary and optional.
Never feel like you have to like people just because you liked them before.
It doesn't matter how nice they are to you on-and-off, or how they helped you that one time, or how grateful you are for this and that in the past. If day by day, week by week, the present situation, is that you're coming away from conversations feeling down and devalued, like the only opinion that matter is theirs, that they don't listen even when you try to talk to them and course correct, drop them like a sack of potatoes and don't look back.

‘The real reason why the binding vow penalty didnt trigger (yet)’
a theory. yes 212 is still living in my head rent free coz there is a lot that still needs explaining about that whole incident
First the binding vow

Sukuna spontaneously planned this binding vow after he got interested in Megumi, coz he’s real plan was letting Yuji die - since he has more fingers around. When sukuna first offered the binding vow, he only had two conditions: he will take over for a minute when he says ‘enchain’ and Yuji will forget the binding vow. I have a lot to say about how the second condition shouldn't even make sense, but that's not what this is about. It's about the third condition that he just added in there without much thought: ‘sukuna won't harm or kill anyone in that one minute’ and how sukuna broke that condition in chapter 212. Im sure that this has been said before but im just trying to get to something.

When the moment came for sukuna to take his reward for reviving Yuji in chapter 11, the very first thing he does is break that damn vow. When he got control of Yuji, he first went to Hana/angel (the biggest threat around for him) and put her to sleep. Now, when you forcibly knock someone unconscious, that is harm and I will fight gege on this, i mean look at hana's face 😭. Let's say sukuna had a technique where the person getting knocked out won't feel pain and maybe Hana didn't feel pain, BUT putting someone to sleep like that involves tweaking around with their brain activities which causes harm to a person. Idk, I'm not a doctor. But it should be counted as harm. >:(
Then he goes and turns Yuji’s pinky into a cursed object and cuts it off.

It is the one thing he considers harm, so for sukuna ‘knocking someone out = not harm’ but ‘cutting off someone’s finger=harm’. He took that risk coz he was ready to die that day just to get inside Megumi, and he threw a party when no penalty was triggered. Of course sukuna is a smart bastard, he had to think of a reason why it didn't trigger. And ever since the beginning, he had always looked down on Yuji so the reason he thought of was ‘it didn't trigger because Yuji is a dumbass who didn't include himself in the people that shouldn't be harmed’.
Now, this is what sukuna thought happened, and we know he has been wrong before. He’s smart, but he isn't always right. He thought gojo made some sort of binding vow at the beginning of their fight coz the purple he threw was at 200% output. When in reality, the purple was as strong as it was because of a buff from a cursed technique sukuna doesn't have knowledge of. What I'm saying is, sukuna’s conclusion on why no penalty triggered shouldn't be trusted coz he doesnt know everything.
AND THEN he goes to Megumi, grabs his hands to stop the summon, grabs his jaw and just jams that cursed (cursed!) finger in there. Now THAT is undoubtedly harm. There's just no way that possessing somebody without their consent is not considered harm. Maybe I'm wrong about Yuji and hana, but what sukuna did to Megumi was harm. Sukuna friggin broke that vow in 212. he harmed every soul in that damned rooftop!
Why it didn't trigger
Sukuna's conclusion on why the penalty didn't trigger will immediately fall apart when it's very clear that he harmed Megumi in that 1min. MAYBE Yuji did not include himself in there, but even if he didnt - sukuna still harmed Megumi. The penalty should've triggered when sukuna shoved that finger down megumi’s throat. But it didn't, because of something we have been told in higuruma vs Yuji in the culling game.

In higuruma vs Yuji, we saw Yuji wholeheartedly admit to commiting mass murder even though everyone knows it was sukuna's fault. Yuta tells him ‘its not your fault’ and he just goes ‘you don't understand’. Higurama was shocked when Yuji pleaded guilty to a crime he didn't commit, and at the end of that trial Yuji was still ‘nah, it was my fault coz I'm weak’.  Megumi however knows what to say to Yuji and instead of telling him ‘its not your fault bestie’ Megumi just says ‘its our fault dummy <3’. Yuji’s guilt is a very huge part of his character, its what his whole culling game arc revolved in. And I think it is the reason why the penalty for the binding vow didn't trigger yet. 
For Yuji, sukuna's crimes are his crimes since it was all done using his body. So for Yuji, the one who harmed everyone in that 1 min in chapter 212 was him, not sukuna. and since sukuna's condition said "I wont harm or kill anyone", the penalty didnt trigger coz the binding vow does not recognize those acts as his as long as yuji feels guilty of it.
this whole binding vow business is just making me think a lot, and i just know we havent seen the last of it yet. it will come back and nerf sukuna i think. and since it has been established that no one knows the penalty of breaking a vow that's done between two sorcerers, then the penalty could be just about anything.

I've been openly critical of Thousand Year Blood War since its weekly manga release way back in late 2010s. It was so immemorable that I'd legitimately forgotten it, and by extension Bleach, existed until the announcement in 2022.
The revelations presented require so much backreading and contradicts earlier established facts, it make it difficult to tolerate. Interpersonal reveals reflect incredibly poorly on many characters, demonstrating in some cases outright negligent tendencies in their duty of care towards others and themselves.
(Masaki, Isshin, you don't have to tell him everything but its not hard to teach your god-child basic safety and the supernatural equivalent of 'don't run in oncoming traffic'. The fact neither did of you did, makes you damned irresponsible parents imo. Almost like your powers were retconned into existence without thinking through the rammifications, huh?).
The sum total of my issues are too numerous to mention but my biggest issue is theme of fate in Bleach; how it applies to Ichigo's desire for self-determination and how TYBW in particular gleefully pisses all over that.
While fate and destiny can be aspiring things, they are by definition traps. Confines. Set parameters that must be fulfilled. As a result two primary attitudes exist in response; one must rise to meet the occasion gloriously or defy it to forge one's own path (success varies).
Ichigo's opinion has always fallen into the latter category.
Ichigo wanted to destroy fate. Wanted to negate its unfairness. To remove its strangling shackles from his life and those he cares for. To quote:
If fate is a milestone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel, then give me a strong blade, and enough strength... to shatter fate.
In essence this is how Ichigo wants express his agency and self-determination, by protecting others. He wants to defend the downtrodden from the unfairness ugliness of reality. An agency he gains through obtaining Shinigami power from Rukia.
Or so he believes.
Problem is, every arc and especially TYBW exposes that theme as a total lie.
Whenever Ichigo believes he's expressing agency to combat whatever ill fortunate awaits those he wishes to protect, he is in fact playing into the hands of others.
He believes he's making an active choice to defend and guard and protect, but in reality Ichigo has never had a choice in anything, merely the illusion of one. Worst of all Ichigo never realizes most of his choices are illusions.
With every subsequent arc, the sad truth is that Ichigo is enslaved to fate. Shackled to its designs since the dawn of reality. Enchained by the literal gods and devils on his shoulder. At one point, fate even turns Ichigo's own body against him as his Quincy blood forces him to slay the previous Soul King.
In his drive to break fate's confines, Ichigo becomes its ultimate poster boy and enforcer.
But in a sad yet classic prophetic twist; Ichigo believes he's actively fighting an unfair destiny.
A destiny written by the Soul King's Almighty eons ago.
In a word, the Almighty is omniscience. First held by the Soul King and later Yhwach.
Conceptually, omniscience and free will cannot co-exist. The world is self-determination or pre-destination. There's no middle ground.
This in mind; the Soul King knew precisely how he would die. He knew a Shiba scion would eventually gain the power to release him from his torment eons upon eons after his sealing under the compulsion of Yhwach's Quincy blood, then slay Yhwach to replace him.
In other words, Ichigo's desire for self-determination was the greatest lie of this story. His every action and reaction were predicted and cemented since the dawn of time. Taken to its logical extreme, Ichigo arguably had no free will at all (absolutely fitting because he reads like a damn automaton in the last arc). He's a pre-programmed organic robot blindly following the path set before him by his creators, there's no error codes (ie. questions or hesitations) because his programmers told him exactly the right command prompts to set him loose.
And almost as the ultimate spit in the face for Ichigo's futile wish for agency in his own fate? Yhwach curses him in the end. Cursed Ichigo with a prophesy that at the moment of his greatest happiness, Yhwach will return to crush it to dust.
Meaning Ichigo is now destined to carry that curse for the rest of his days, his days as a human, his days as a soul, possibly even after his soul death and winding up in hell.
By the avatar of fate's own command, Ichigo is never permitted to find true happiness again.
Which actually rather neatly explains why Ichigo seemingly retired from shinigami work after the war concluded. And a rather damning indication of his marriage to Orihime and his own son.
When is Ichigo at his happiest? When he's engaged with the spirit world. What's he done in the ten year timeskip? Cut himself off from the spirit world. When does Yhwach show up again? The first time Ichigo engages with the spirit world after ten long years.
All told, its a rather tragic tale, isn't it?
Then again, I suppose that could be Kubo's intention. The more Ichigo tries to fight fate, the more fate bitch slaps him and tells him 'get back in your lane.' And Ichigo, after years of being thoroughly defanged, bows his head and obeys.
If that's so, then I congratulate him on delivering such a tragic despair-filled message.

hazbin hotel just came out, and I have to ask: am I the only one that when listening to "poison" cannot help but thinking about Kieran singing it, while fighting internally with Pecharunt poisoning him, feeding his anger and fury, trying to escape from his poison, but at the same time yearning for it
in the chorus part:
"Cause I know you're poison You're feedin' me poison Addicted to this feelin', I can't help but swallow Up your poison I made my choice, and Every night I'm livin' like there's no tomorrow"
Kieran knows that he's enchained to the pokemon's will, and although finding relief in juliana, he knows it's gonna be only temporary before the chains' re gonna start hurt again, making him forget all about his beloved... and even himself.
-yep I have this headcanon of Kieran completely exhausted singing it, praying to be finally free, and Juliana totally heartbroken, listening himXDD-
Ngl I am only vaguely aware of this fandom because a lot of people I know are very fixated on it and it seems to be gaining a lot of traction lol! I am curious about what others will think of your headcanon :)

“The supremacy of enchained authority” is such a good way of describing Javert! But his calm remains disturbing.
It’s also awful that this is happening in front of Éponine’s corpse and that Javert vaguely recognizes her. They both share some dog imagery, so they parallel each other in a sense, with Éponine initially defending Marius’ future (by helping him find Cosette and have a romance befitting his imagined status) as Javert defends the social order, but it hurts to be reminded of the fact that she’s been ignored in the chaos of combat. 
Not entirely surprisingly, Jean Valjean doesn’t kill Javert. Between his pacifism and his lack of self-worth, it’s not shocking that he’d let the person best poised to ruin his life go free. Interestingly, Javert snarls “like a tiger,” moving to cat imagery. Cats, wild or not, are typically linked to rebellion in the novel, and Valjean was compared to a tiger at the beginning of the novel when he robbed the bishop. For Javert to be compared to a tiger emphasizes just how much this disturbed him. That he demands to be killed (“You annoy me. Kill me, rather” is a funny way to demand being killed, but it’s disturbing nonetheless) and addresses Valjean formally (vous instead of tu) underscores this as well.
Marius recognizes Javert at the worst possible time, but it’s also a bit funny that he’s thinking of his pistol debt at the barricade of all places.
