With Dungeon Meshi being in public eye again with the Netflix series, I thought it would be a good time to shoutout again about Gourmet Street, my free (tips appreciated) Street Food Fantasy zine! Big thanks to our wonderful artist and layout man @feralindiecharlie

 A New Setting! - Gourmet Street, a collection of scattered and bizarrely connected alleyways, it seems to pop up in any settlement large enough to begin thinking of itself as a city. Stacked high in wood carts, laid out on intricate rugs, swimming in a myriad of sauces, food is the name of the game on Gourmet Street.

 ONE MILLION Food Vendors and Menus! - Never eat the same thing twice! Generate from 8,000 possible unique food vendors and LITERALLY ONE MILLION possible dishes; ranging from Soft-shelled Crabman Sandwiches with Tzatziki sauce and Egg Coffee, to Myconid Zapiekanka in Pesto with a shot of Absinthe! 

 Food Factions! - From the hyper-radical (and slightly deranged) Neuvo Gastro-Alchemists, to the fanatical and militant Vinegar Knights, the food factions each come with their own wants, goals, and boons, IF you choose to serve them...

"Why did Tears of the Kingdom have a development cycle just as long as Breath of the Wild's even though it reused so many assets?" is a question that I think fundamentally misunderstands how modern game design works

It assumes that the team does something like all sit down, develop the physics engine, then they can move on to the overworld map, then they can move on to making the cutscenes, etc. and when you think about that for just a second it becomes obviously absurd. Developing a physics engine, writing dialogue, creating textures, designing puzzles, and so on are all different disciplines that different specialists work on in parallel and in cooperation

What probably actually happened is a lot of the artists, engine devs, and so on put a lot less time into the project, before/while working on a bunch of different projects at Nintendo (quite possibly including the engine and art for the next Zelda game), and they also probably didn't need to get Monolith Soft to help design the overworld. Meanwhile, the puzzle designers, writers, and a lot of the rest of the team have to do just as much work as they did for Breath of the Wild (or more!), and so it's not that surprising that it took just as long

(Disclaimer that I don't know for certain that this is how it happened internally at Nintendo, and short of interviewing the devs I don't think there's any way to find out. The credits won't help because close to all of the people who moved on to other teams either worked on TotK for part of the development and/or had their work ported over from BotW. This is just my understanding of how modern AAA game development works)

ok so i was watching the video of the q&a/panel smosh did at vidcon and there was a question angela got asked about her dream role in a musical. her answer was lefou in beauty and the beast, which then caused a conversation of smosh hypothetically doing that show and what the cast would be. SO, i thought “what if they did shakespeare?” (particularly because it’s public domain so if they did hypothetically do this it wouldn’t cost money for them to secure rights). the obvious choice (in my opinion) would be a midsummer night’s dream, SO I HYPOTHETICALLY CAST IT.

Adopted and raised as their House's sole heir, they are no stranger to violence: from the frontlines of Seheron to the grounds of their father's estate. They joined the Shadow Dragons in hopes of making Tevinter a homeland worth fighting for. Has Super Mega daddy issues and makes it everyone's problem.

Surface dwarf Rook who becomes obsessed with uncovering the secrets of the Titans. They joined the Veil Jumpers purely for their ancient ruin access. Doesn't give a shit about magic elf baubles. Calls Solas 'bald guy' to his face. Is not winning any popularity contests.

City elf Rook whose son and grandson are murdered by a corrupt Orlesian noble. Uses her homemaker skills and general grandma aura to become a scarily effective assassin. You ate those shortbread biscuits she baked? Get poisoned, idiot. Recruited by the Crows late in life after her legend spreads.

Qunari Crow Rook that exclusively uses two-handed great weapons. Built like a brick house. Zero subtlety or finesse to their kills, just goes after fools like the goddamn Terminator. AKA Bellara and the bad bitch she pulled with her sense of whimsy.

Any race Mourn Watch Rook who, honestly? Is just a little freak. Has a staring problem. Was essentially dragged out of the crypt by their ankles and is NOT happy about it. Misses the bones. Does not specify which ones.

after encountering hades for the first time in tartarus i realized that he's imprisoned in the same chamber that sisyphus used to occupy, as if in acknowledgment of mellinoë's sisyphean task ahead of her—a literalization of the act counting and collecting (endless?!) grains of sand to kill Time (arguably also a form of contrapasso against hades, to have control wrested from him and to be alone? may need 2 think on this more)

i wonder how we'll encounter sisyphus again! especially as he was the founder-king of ephyra, now that the gates of hell are open—will we see him as a shade haunting the ruins of what once was his city?

Re about Cat :

In Nopes she complains because her dad asks her to lend CoS troops, instead of asking Dimitri or Rhea herself...

But unless Count Charon is as dumb as Leopold, he knows pretty well Cat isn't the one who can lend him Church soldiers.

Of course Fodlan dgaf about non students characters, especially if they are affiliated to the Church, but I wondered, maybe Count Charon didn't want to ask Rhea herself to lend him some troops because he has a strange relationship with her -

Rhea is, after all, the one who welcomed his daughter when she was hunted by the Kingdom and the reason she's alive, Dad!Charon, whatever was his position during the "Cassandra hunt" wasn't the one who protected his daughter, Rhea was.

Maybe he feels already to indebted to her to even ask her, in person, for more soldiers?

As for Dimitri...

I always found it disappointing how both game never explored more Cat's backstory, ffs if Faerghus was "feudal uwu", the Crown (even if it was during Rufus' regency) ordered Cat's death, she was branded a traitor and someone who commited regicide ffs.

What was happening with House Charon at that time, were they happily going to give their daughter to the crown, when Catherine was the presumptive major crested heir, to have her executed? When the entire Kingdom branded her a traitor and had her name besmirched, was House Charon totes okay with, you know, the accusations that their precious heir participated in the plot to kill Lambert?

Lonato throws a fit because Christophe was executed by the Church, but Lonato is only Rowe's bannerman - Charon is one of the major Houses in the Kingdom, wouldn't they have thrown a "larger" fit if the crown wanted to execute their heir??

Or maybe that could fell in the larger "the Kingdom was in chaos" thing - House Charon might have been "this" close to rebel against the Crown ?

In a way, it might explain why Garreg Mach wasn't visited by the Kingdom's forces asking Rhea to hand Cassandra over if the crown's forces had to cross Charon territory to reach Garreg Mach...

So in with this BG, it would make perfect sense why Count Charon wouldn't ask Dimitri for more soldiers (granted we're talking about Church soldiers?) - Charon is still a loyal bannerman who fights for Faerghus, but his trust in the crown would have been severed, and it's up to Dimitri to rebuild that bond.
