Three ways that emerging technologies explored in this week’s Module that I found will help shape a more positive digital future
Smart Documentation
We live in a day and age where almost everything is digitized. We no longer need to print things, send letters and have hand written records of things. When ever we have something tangible as a record we almost always tend to loose it. With smart documentation, we can get signatures from parties sitting across the globe and finalize things way faster. Our medical records can be accessed anytime and we don’t need to remember details. Our diplomas and degrees can be access online as well, all this has increased efficiency, saved time, and decreased human error.
There are countless other benefits but this system has in a nutshell allowed individuals and business to invest time where it matters most like with family.
Computer Vision and Facial Recognition
To me this screams safety!
Everyone likes to feel safe but unfortunately world out there is not all roses. With more computerized and facial recognition systems people are more conscious about their decisions. We hear so many stories being solved on daily basis, issues like theft, harassment, missing people cases and so on. This is also a great way to protect yourself from data breach, with more and more fraud being common lately, having facial recombination can truly save the day and stop unrecognized access.
Smart Appliances
This is another one of my favourite digital magic. One of my favourite appliance is washer and dryer, they have energy efficient options and can help you save on cost by recommending to wash within certain hours and pick the most efficient wash type depending on your needs. Smart Thermostats is anther one that stands out to me, living at my place and not having to worry about adjusting temparure is huge convenience, a true privilege to be honest.
There are countless other examples I can share but for me what all the digital advances are doing is creating convenience and ease. With life going at 100 miles an hour, any help feels like a blessing, I’m one of those people who truly embrace digital advance as much a possible and see myself continuing to do so!

Revolutionizing Retail with AI: A Vision for the Future
In a world where the amount of data is growing exponentially—estimated to reach over 40 zettabytes in 2020, dwarfing the number of stars in the observable universe—the potential for AI to transform retail is immense.
Harnessing Big Data for Consumer Insights
Retailers have long collected sales data to manage inventories and compare sales volumes. However, with the advent of Big Data analytics, this information can be used to gain deeper insights into consumer behavior. For instance, Walmart's pioneering use of data analytics revealed that customers facing tornado warnings were more likely to stock up on Pop-Tarts. By placing these items in prominent locations during such events, Walmart significantly boosted sales.
Combating Fraud in Retail
AI's potential extends beyond consumer insights to address the pervasive issue of fraud in the retail sector. By analyzing patterns in transaction data, AI can detect anomalies that may indicate fraudulent activities. This approach has already proven effective in the insurance and banking industries, where Big Data is used to correlate information, such as weather data with flood damage claims, to flag suspicious activities for further investigation.
In retail, AI platform employs similar techniques to monitor transactions in real-time, identifying and preventing fraudulent activities before they escalate. This proactive approach will not only protect retailers from financial losses but also enhance customer trust and loyalty.
Enhancing Customer Experience
AI is used to personalize the customer experience. By analyzing purchase histories and browsing behaviors, companies’ platform can recommend products tailored to individual preferences. This level of personalization, akin to the algorithms used by streaming services to suggest content, will enhance customer satisfaction and drive repeat business. Moreover, AI can optimize inventory management by predicting demand for specific products, reducing overstock and stockouts, and ensuring that customers find what they need when they need it.
