Freshly hatched. still wet with mucus and whatever#Have you ever seen a butterfly fresh from the cocoon and their wings are all crumpled up?#so yeah their unevenness is intentional lol#I spent forever debating whether I wanted to put Peri there#but ultimately I thought it made the composition more interesting so I kept him#Also youll notice his wings are slightly different now I decided to redesign them to be a bit more galaxy like#its hard to see here but Ive changed the 3 dots to resemble planets in a row: Green for cosmo pink for Wanda and different pink for timmy#I think it came out a bit ugly in this but whatever Ive spend too long on this already#I wanted Devs wings to be reminiscent of gold. For some reason I really liked the idea of them curving inward too#Maybe to represent that hes selfcentered. Woagh it all points back to him Wough!!!!! anyway#Btw also sorry for no Nature AU content my motivation just kinda crashed. I have ideas still but getting around to drawing them is hard

#og#this one is inspired by zepyuri nman song. there are many iterations of it but the one by ladaniva is my favourite...#go listen to it#the painting is quite simple but 1. i kinda wanted to keep it that way and 2. i'm a lazy artist...i can't spend more than 3 days on art#i may revisit it later. just really wanted to finish it before the year ends lol#oh some more infodumping! in the second verse there are lines:#i'll become Spring and come to your garden / like a nightingale i'll cling to your rose#i thought 'huh. what an interesting metaphor' and went researching#figures! the motive of a nightingale being in love with a rose is a widespread one in classical iranian literature#at that moment i'd decided to go with iranian-armenian adjacent style of clothing. it's all so pretty#i love the veiling. i love the colors. the patterns. the cut and fit of the costume too.#i was mostly referencing 1 black and white drawing so i couldn't see many details unfortunately#it was from 'armenian national costumes' book by Arakel Patrick#p. 85 table 6 pic. 2 and 3 - rug weavers from charmahal region of isfahan#for anyone's interested in looking it up lol#+ some other references#also if i don't use orange and blue color combo at least once a year i will literally die#ok. infodumping is over#q

#day 259#year 5#john egbert#homestuck#IM BACK it turns out i just needed a lot more recovery time from the trip than i thought#i didnt get to sleep much the whole 3 days i was there bc the motel beds were hard as FUCK#and it was like a 12 hour drive there and a 14 hour drive back home (we took a lot of breaks)#and even with the breaks it was a longass day of driving#so i have spent most of this weekend unconscious lol#i think im mostly recovered tho so back 2 the art grind gamers
