Yeto's Superb Soup

We made Yeto's soup!! This soup is full of love! And goat cheese! Highly recommend, astonishingly tasty -- warm, creamy, mild, soothing.

Makes about 6 servings.

In a large pot:

1 butternut squash (peeled & diced small)

1 large yukon gold potato or similar (diced larger)

1 yellow or white onion (diced fine)

smallish chunk of ginger (minced)

~4 cloves garlic (minced)

Large pinch of thyme

Dash of salt and pepper

Water to cover

Bring to a simmer and keep simmering 30min or until veg is soft.

Give it a heavy stir or whisk to break up the chunks; exact texture is up to you!

Add:

1 lb salmon fillet (skin off, chunks ~spoon size)

Simmer another 20min or so. In that time, add:

Generous splash or two of heavy cream

6oz or so plain goat cheese, broken up and stirred around so everything mixes

More salt & pepper to taste

This is basically a chowder and can definitely be adjusted to taste! We had it with garlic butter croutons and that was super tasty -- cannot overstate how shockingly delicious it is. Yeto was right, love is stored in the soup ♥

Haven’t been editing my pictures recently as I am either tired or busy with other chores and tasks. Anyway, here is my brunch of Vegetarian Rice (斋饭) takeaway from nearby coffee shop. First on the left is sweet & sour (imitation) pork followed by the yummy curry mock mutton & potato cubes with stir-fried Sichuan vegetable (榨菜) over it. Our Asian vegetarian foods are not exactly just the leafy salad kind popular in the western countries. Ours also included a whole range of make-believe non-meat products made from typically flour and beans like those shown above.

I gathered some blackberries to make a blackberry ice-cream, and look how purple that is! That is the most purple thing I've ever made:

This is witch's ice-cream, I love this color.

(note: it's not a real ice-cream, just an imitation, it's a mix of aquafaba, fruit, oil, vinegar and sugar and I like it because I can freeze it and scrape it with my spoon and it tastes good and I'm happy)

a definitive ranking of vegan imitation meat products widely available in american supermarkets:

field roast frankfurters. 10/10 incredible, would recommend to meat eaters as actually tasting better than the meat option

morningstar black bean burgers

starlite foods taquitos

primal jerky (spicy flavor is the best one)

planet foods taquitos (made of hemp, which is kinda unique)

everything else morningstar does. most "yeah, that's decent" company in the world

gardein fake chicken, but only the breaded kind. (this is also the brand that brings us "b'ef" but i don't like that one)

quorn pesto & mozzarella chicken patties

no amy's because all the amy's stuff i like is just actual vegetables not pretending to be meat and no impossible or beyond because they fucking suck

Do you ever wonder if you’ve played a bit part in someone else’s family lore?

For example, back in 1999 when I made the misguided decision to be a middle school cheerleader, my dad came to one of the football games to watch me cheer and ended up sitting near a couple of girls who knew nothing about football. At one point they called the penalty flag a “little yellow scarfy thingy” and 25 years later, that’s still what my family says when a ref throws a flag.

I have no idea who those girls were, but I still think of them fondly
