Took the bus to Sembawang MRT Station for an early dinner at Kopitiam food court. I went for the Indonesia style Grilled Chicken Set with a grilled whole chicken leg in kecap manis or Indonesian sweet soy sauce and soup. The sides are curry vegetables and a fried egg with white rice. The chicken had a nice, charred flavour, smothered with savoury sweet black sauce.

Mum went off to queue for the Economy Rice (菜饭). She picked the following dishes for her cai png  - Har Cheong Gai (虾酱鸡) marinated in fermented shrimp paste and deep-fried, sweet & sour pork and Chinese cabbage stir-fry with white rice.

I love food. Big fan of food. am I consistently and constantly hungry. Food is the best thing. Wow. Can’t believe I live on a planet where I can eat and taste. I can bring food for my friends. I can slice it in half. I can make an ugly bacon egg sandwich just for me. I can reheat food. I can melt cheese on chips. I can give my friends the black licorice jelly beans. I can give my cat a tiny piece of chicken from my bowl. I can cook food. I can season grilled foods spicy in separate batches for my friends with a low spice tolerance. Wow. Hi everybody, sorry to have been so quiet lately! 2025 started off a little rough on this end but it's probably quite a bit rougher for some of you across the pond for reasons we all know and loathe already. Despite that, I hope life is treating you okay (or will start getting better soon - some of you have been through some really rough patches which none of you deserve and I wish things were better for you all 🙁) Just a smol life update about a little somebody I haven't mentioned for a while - R.orschach, my corn snake! It's been one whole year since he came home with me way back in 2024 as an itty bitty shoelace and he's uh, grown quite a bit since living it up in his lovely big vivarium?

Unfortunately it's the best photo of us since my health hasn't been the best these last few months (curse you winter!) but I'm determined not to let 2025 be a shitty year for writing like 2024 was! Making a spot of dinner really quick and then we'll see about tackling an ask or two. After not writing for a while, it's daunting af to even look at what's waiting but thank you all so much for your patience and love! Really hoping to get connected with you all again in spite of how awful the world state is rn. Keep holding on as best you can, people - nothing is forever and things will get better soon! <3

I made *another* stir-fry 🥢 for StirFryDay - this time sweet and sour pork with rice 🍚 (I make a lot of stir-fry meals)

Both my sis and I went with Economy Rice (菜饭) since we get to pick some of the choicest dishes the seller has. For sis, I chose okra stir-fry, fried cereal fish nuggets plus sweet & sour pork. My own pack, I selected gai lan (芥兰) stir-fry, stewed chicken and a large piece of sweet & sour pork chop.

Mum asked for Singapore Fried Noodles (星洲米粉) from the tzi char stall. Hers is a rice vermicelli stir-fry with char siu, prawns, egg and bean sprouts. The lime you squeeze over the bee hoon before eating but mum never did that as she doesn’t like the citrusy flavour.
