JOKE-OGRAPHY: During the season of Lent (the roughly 40 days before Easter Sunday), Catholics are asked to abstain from eating most meats every Friday. Some Catholics forget this the first Friday it happens... or the second... or the third... so it's nice to have a reminder. In this cartoon, a very happy young woman prays over a freshly-grilled steak, preparing to eat it, but then her little brother appears: a reluctant harbinger of ill tidings. He reminds her of her Friday obligation, and she weeps. However, since Friday ends at midnight, she decides that she'll simply stay up until then to eat her steak. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is another "Tomics Resurrection," where I take the ashes of an old cartoon and redraw it to make it new. I think I'll be doing a few of these for Lent, but we'll see. This particular cartoon is one of the first I ever drew -- the FOURTH, in fact -- which makes it over TEN YEARS OLD. Hopefully I've learned a thing or two since then. Take a look at its ancient former self and tell me how it compares:

Seldom showing you my Vegetarian Rice (斋饭) nowadays as mum always heads to Chong Pang rather than to the nearby coffee shop at the opposite end. My takeaway pack consisted of plain amaranth greens (苋菜) or Chinese spinach stir-fry, crispy mock calamari rings and my favourite curry mock mutton and potato. There is also a piece of crispy assorted vegetables fritter to go with the white rice.

Recently learned that I'm allergic to meat. (I thought not being able to swallow because your throat is closed after eating meat was normal. Not sure why) And my partner knows, they're well aware. They're the one who was like "That is an allergy" and are like super against me eating meat now. But, I love burgers. I lovvveeeeeeeeeee cheeseburgers. Even if I can't breathe or swallow after. And I want a cheeseburger dude I want a cheeseburger so bad I'm literally the lactose intolerant meme but with an actual allergy like givemeaburgergivemeaburgergivemeaburger I want one sooo bad

Haven’t been editing my pictures recently as I am either tired or busy with other chores and tasks. Anyway, here is my brunch of Vegetarian Rice (斋饭) takeaway from nearby coffee shop. First on the left is sweet & sour (imitation) pork followed by the yummy curry mock mutton & potato cubes with stir-fried Sichuan vegetable (榨菜) over it. Our Asian vegetarian foods are not exactly just the leafy salad kind popular in the western countries. Ours also included a whole range of make-believe non-meat products made from typically flour and beans like those shown above.

It's definitely not a personal choice if you are affecting the lives of so many animals every time you pay for their carcass parts, milk and eggs. If it were a personal choice, it wouldn't be supporting their suffering every day and making other innocent beings go through hell on earth just for you to satisfy your filthy mouth!
