Too many artists who do commissions, in my experience, don't take their job seriously enough.

It's a meme how some artists take months to complete a comm and "haha im so grateful for having patient commissioners" but that's just poor work ethics on the artist's part.

When you offer commissions, you don't just offer art, you also have to communicate with your client properly, give them proper updates, ask them for feedback during process, discuss things that your ToS doesn't cover if needed, and so on.

Just for example, if you're taking longer than expected, let them know why (just vague "due to personal problems" is enough) and if needed, offer a refund or another alternative instead of making your commissioner reach out to you for updates themselves and possibly stressing them out.

Otherwise, you're treating your commissioner like a nuisance that you're forced to work with, not a client who offers you money in return for proper service.

If I were the US president, I would have ended ties with Israel long ago.

Israel has stated multiple times that they don't care about the civilians in Palestine, hell they don't care who gets hurt in general. All Israel wants is genocide, anyone who supports Israel wants genocide, and anyone who goes like "Well it's complicated" or remains silent is genocide complicit.

There's a poem, it's called "First they came for" and it's by Martin Niemöller, it shows that silence does nothing, and in the end, there will be no one to help you because you were silent.

I wanted to do a modern retelling of it, here it is (Note: This is from the perspective of someone who is silent on politics):

First they came for the socialists—and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for black people—and I did not speak out—because I was not black.

Then they came for the disabled—and I did not speak out—because I was not disabled.

Then they came for trans people—and I did not speak out—because I was not trans.

Then they came for gay people—and I did not speak out—because I was not gay.

Then they came for unionists—and I did not speak out—because I was not a unionist.

Then they came for Palestinians—and I did not speak out—because I was not Palestinian.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Imagine if you were a gay or bi man who tried a certain firefighter show because of all the attention it was getting for one of its mains having a later in life bi awakening.....and between seasons you ventured into its fandom in search of material to tide you over til the next one. And you're greeted by a deluge of posts and fics that are just cheerfully homophobic towards one half of the newly out bi character's canon relationship on the basis of 'well he's not the RIGHT gay guy' and pushing the idea that actually its fine to cheat on him because Reasons and he's sexually predacious based on......behind the scenes implications people have divined like they're reading fucking tea leaves.

But don't get it twisted....this fandom, like all fandoms, really cares about representation!

Sorry not sorry, but we really need to kill this idea that fandoms are welcoming and inviting and inherently progressive when they're frequently insular and reductive as fuck. Every single fandom I've been in has had major trends of people doubling down on their own headcanons and fanon interpretations of the characters and willfully enacting trends aimed at running off people who like the 'wrong' characters (usually characters marginalized along one or multiple axes), like the characters in the 'wrong ways' or other bullshit.

Scott is a Bad Friend fics overtaking Teen Wolf fandom was not incidental, it was a FEATURE of the fandom, because the vast majority of that fandom did not want to share its space with anyone who had the nerve to like its main character. Survivors complaining about or criticizing the prevalance of rape fics in a certain fandom has in my experience always led to a reactionary UPTICK in those fics, with gems like 'this character can, will, must be raped' in the tags making it crystal clear that some of these fics exist because how fucking DARE anyone try and push forth a narrative not agreed upon by Fandom Main.

I could cite examples for so many other fandoms, with the commonalities always being that vast majorities in these fandoms are explicitly reacting defensively to being asked to be more mindful of fandom trends revolving around or exacerbating racism, homophobia, transphobia, rape or abuse apologia, ableism, etc....

With the most prolific fucking rallying cry across countless fandoms being "No the fuck we will NOT be doing that," because lolololol.....

Fandom is an inherently progressive space, didn't you hear?

like, when I first started twst, malleus originally had my attention, but my mind immediately screamed "no. don't. he seems like a fan favourite, stay away from him." so yeah, I ended up liking idia for a while.

and then I liked ace.

and then malleus.

and then ace again.

and now I came in term with always liking scarabia duo.

When I first saw the character designs, I was immediately drawn to Riddle because I adore the color red and his dorm uniform was so pretty to me. Also,,, I love Alice in Wonderland. It's one of my favorite Disney films!! I was a loyal (obsessed) Riddle fan in 2020 (and still am in 2024. He remains my favorite to this day hehe). I also really liked Ruggie and Kalim (they're so wonderful. I need to write about them more often). >w< I would quietly keep up to date with the happenings in twst when books one and two were first out, but after that I stopped paying attention because I didn't have any twst friends to discuss with. ^^;;;

So it was very exciting when twst was coming to English!!! :D for two years I'd lived with the opinion that Octavinelle was the ugliest dorm because none of them appealed to me visually and I had no knowledge of what they were like in the game because I didn't pay much attention during the release of book three in Japan. T_T but then I played it in English and was hit with the fish beam..... orz what do you mean the one in glasses is just like me fr???? AND HE'S A TAKO???????? OTL and the eels....... all of them are amazing,, their personalities and lore so *chef's kiss*!!!! Octavinelle was made for me and I just couldn't properly appreciate it in 2020.

Now I am trapped in fish hell. („ᵕᴗᵕ„) ✨

I can only shudder to imagine what 2020 Meraki would have thought of Rollo....... ;;;;;

you know, the placement of both hugs buck and tommy shared are kinda…wild. because in both of them…buck is facing eddie.

like we don’t exactly see eddie watching them or anything, and yeah he might be tipsy in the second one, but i think it’s a lil telling for them to have buck’s expression turned towards eddie in these hugs.

the first, when he sees the contentment on buck’s face when he and tommy tip their heads together in a hug that lingers a beat too long to be platonic much like some of the hugs buck and eddie have shared but i digress

the second, when he sees the clear disappointment on buck’s face at tommy leaving, and the intimate way tommy holds his neck and the way buck’s palm rubs against tommy’s back before he calls out for him to be safe.

and maybe we didn’t get to see exactly what eddie’s looking at/thinking about but i think there’s a little bit of a tie-in with the way the camera specifically pans to the proud, sparkling look eddie gives buck after he and tommy show up with march in soot-stained faces in that eddie’s genuinely happy for him - his eyes literally follow buck around the room. he sees how invested buck is in tommy, and it feels different to other partners and idk. it’s just a choice to have eddie as the main witness of buck and tommy is all i’m getting at here
