Baltimore County Animal Services is urgently seeking rescue placement for Goliath. Goliath arrived to us as a scared stray. After some time here, Goliath warmed up and has shown social behavior with people and is very interested in making friends with other dogs. Unfortunately, Goliath seems to have an injury to his left hind leg making him only available to a 501c3 rescue group. Breed: Mastiff mix

Reason for Rescue: Medical Transfer

Health Concerns: Goliath demonstrated a toe-touching lameness of his left hind leg. No obvious fractures or dislocations have been palpated. He has been given pain medication and is on strict cage rest for the next 7 days. If no improvement, or the lameness worsens, radiographs may be necessary to diagnose the cause. One suspected condition is a cranial cruciate ligament tear or strain (similar to an ACL injury in people). Please follow up with your primary veterinarian for further diagnostic and treatment recommendations. An orthopedic specialist may need to be consulted if there is cruciate ligament damage. (random s5 finale musings) tbh I don't think Marinette chose to keep The Secrets™ from Adrien because Gabriel asked her to. I feel like Marinette keeping secrets like that is so consistent with her character; she hates giving people bad news, she hates rocking the boat, she hates upsetting people, she always chooses to keep any 'controversial' information to herself for as long as she can get away with (examples: bubbler scarf, telling Queen Bee she was benched, confessing to Adrien, warning Chat Noir about Scarabella or Rena Furtive, never told Chat Noir about Chat Blanc, etc) that I just totally believe she would've done it either way. She was even already having nightmares about Adrien hating her for finding out she defeated his father, so I feel like Gabriel's request was moreso giving her a go-ahead than it was a primary deciding factor, yknow?

I woke up this morning still thinking about Fadel waking up in Style's bed.

I wonder what was running through Fadel's head as he turned to look at Style, eyes still squinting against the too-bright morning light, the unfamiliar comfort of the shape of Style's name on his lips for the very first time. I wonder if he was too sleepy to process how strange it was that he didn't really mind being pinned down by the weight of Style's thigh thrown over his hips; that the sensation was grounding and reassuring rather than being confining or suffocating. I wonder if the thought crossed his mind that he wouldn't mind waking up like this again, wouldn't mind letting someone into his space, wouldn't mind giving someone the bared vulnerability of lying naked and unprotected with all the implications of unwavering trust that has -- not if it was with him.

I wonder if Fadel registered the way his heartbeat is steady and calm despite the strange surroundings and unfamiliar bed, because something in him has already labelled the person lying next to him as safe.

I wonder if Fadel even understood that this, right here, in all its quiet and unacknowledged stillness, was the moment he fell in love?

In Baltimore County, MD: FINAL URGENT PLEA SMOKEY!!

Baltimore County Animal Services is seeking urgent rescue placement for Smokey. At only 1.5 years old, Smokey has had a very rough start at life and we are hopeful a rescue will be able to take him in to find him his happily ever after. Smokey has been with us 4 times now. The first time, he was surrendered due to his owner being evicted. The second time, he was returned for being too energetic with small dogs and children. The third time, he was found as a stray, but was returned to the most recent adopter. However, later that same day, Smokey was found as a stray again and was brought to the shelter. The most recent adopter then would not answer our calls or emails to get Smokey back to them.

When Smokey came in on December 13th, he presented to the shelter with injuries consistent with being hit by a car. He exhibited multiple dermal abrasions on his head, muzzle, both hind legs and groin area. He also exhibited a shifting leg lameness in the hind end. At rest he seems to prefer bearing weight on his left hind leg. When ambulating he hops on both hind legs. He was very painful upon palpation of the hind end. His right tuber ischii appeared swollen which may be indicative of an underlying pelvic fracture. Radiographs of the pelvis and hind legs are recommended. Pain medications and antibiotics have been initiated but further veterinary care is needed.

Smokey was sent for xrays on December 20th and revealed a complete pelvic symphysis fracture with minimal displacement. It is recommended to keep this pet crate rested with brief leash walks only for elimination purposes to allow the pelvis to heal on its own. Smokey should not have access to stairs or be allowed to run or jump as this may impede his healing. Repeat pelvic radiographs to assess healing are recommended in 8-12 weeks.

Despite his many stays in the shelter and being in pain, Smokey has not lost his cheerful spirit and is one of the sweetest dogs any of our staff have ever met. He loves toys, people, and other dogs. Due to his medical needs, Smokey is only available to a rescue group, and we are hopeful one will be able to take him in and find him his fur-ever home he deserves so much!

Smokey is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are interested in pulling Smokey, or have any questions, please let us know as soon as possible.

Huh, I didn't even realize it'd been a year since BG3 came out until I opened tumblr this morning. Kinda wild. I didn't think much of the game's release: I like Larian's games, and I like the BG series. I wasn't ever going to skip the game, but I didn't think I'd play it at launch because I was busy working on a novel in 2023 and not doing well financially.

Thankfully, circumstances left me with a little bit of extra money last year just before launch and it meant I could spend on a video game. I needed a pick-me-up after said 2023 novel failed to go anywhere, and BG3 was right there. Like most CRPGs, I played it in basically every moment of free time that I had and did as much as I possibly could in one playthrough.

It's so odd how these small happenstances can snowball into coming back to fandom, finding some friends I might've never met otherwise, and writing a lot of fanfiction along the way. I'll probably have something more interesting to say/share when it's the 14th, AKA when I sat down and wrote my first fic for this fandom.

Anyways, it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more years to come 💜
