In Baltimore City, MD: 1 y/o, 17lb chihuahua mix with a traumatic leg amputation had been running at large since June - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can help this little fella and offer him a loving foster home, please email [email protected]
Cesar- 1 y/o, unaltered male, 17lbs
1-year-old Cesar has had a hard time this last year. He was brought to our shelter by a Good Samaritan who reported that he'd be running at large since June, and that they'd been leaving out food for him since. With the weather getting colder out, they were worried about him continuing to stay outside, so finally succeeded in catching him using a towel.
Cesar arrived in our care just yesterday afternoon, so he's still very new and very scared. He is very defensive for approach (barking, trembling, darting away, snapping), so was sedated for his intake exam to minimize his stress as much as possible.
Upon examination, our vets noted that Cesar was covered in live fleas, which we've since treated for, and he has a traumatic amputation of his right front leg about halfway between his wrist and elbow. X-rays of the limb are recommended to assess the bones for possible revision/surgery. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Cesar is not available for adoption at this time due to his level of fear, and we are hoping that in rescue- in a quiet and patient environment- he will be able to decompress and feel more comfortable.
Cesar is currently on stray hold and will be available for rescue pick-up at 6pm on 11/26.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,
The BARCS Rescue Team

Life with a Foster: Routines Make All the Difference
Life with a Husky cannot possibly be boring. The more time I spend with Leche, the more I think either she’s exceptional or Huskies are just smarter than regular dogs. Her memory and her cunning ability to understand when I’m paying attention and when I’m not, have floored me time and again. Continue reading Life with a Foster: Routines Make All the Difference

Part One; The Heart and Hardship of Animal Rescue: A Journey of Compassion and Survival
I often find people amazed by my extensive experience with animal rescue and street vet work, particularly when I share some of the most challenging and occasionally amusing stories. My journey into animal rescue began when I was just a toddler, following in my mother’s footsteps. She had been rescuing animals since she was a young adult, passing her compassion for animals onto me. Our…

Cartoon Network Villains Bar
Even the bag guys need a place to unwind in between episodes. These guys are all regulars here, even if some of them often question why they come.
Would you go there if you could?

1. All 160 dogs at Florida shelter found homes ahead of Hurricane Milton
Tumblr media
“[The shelter] offered crates, food and anything else the dogs would need in exchange for the animals to spend just five days with the foster parents if the human didn't want to keep them for longer. […A]fter about a day of receiving around 100 messages every 30 minutes, Bada said, all 160 were gone from the shelter and in safe and warm homes.”
2. Restoring Ecosystems and Rejuvenating Native Hawaiian Traditions in Maui
Tumblr media
“[Volunteers] are restoring water flow to the refuge, removing invasive species, and restoring a loko iʻa kalo using ʻike kūpuna, ancestral knowledge. […] This human-made ecosystem will provide food for community members and habitat for wildlife while protecting coral reefs offshore.”
3. Solar-powered desalination system requires no extra batteries
Tumblr media
“In contrast to other solar-driven desalination designs, the MIT system requires no extra batteries for energy storage, nor a supplemental power supply, such as from the grid. […] The system harnessed on average over 94 percent of the electrical energy generated from the system’s solar panels to produce up to 5,000 liters of water per day[….]”
4. Threatened pink sea fan coral breeds in UK aquarium for first time
Tumblr media
“The spawning is part of University of Exeter Ph.D. student Kaila Wheatley Kornblum's research into the reproduction, larval dispersal and population connectivity of Eunicella verrucosa. […] Pink sea fans are believed to have been successfully bred by only one other institution, Lisbon Oceanarium, in 2023.”
5. Tiny 'backpacks' are being strapped to baby turtles[….]
Tumblr media
““We analysed the data and found that hatchlings show amazingly consistent head-up orientation – despite being in the complete dark, surrounded by sand [… and] they move as if they were swimming rather than digging[…. This new observation method is] answering questions about best conservation practices,” says Dor.”
6. New California Law Protects Wildlife Connectivity
Tumblr media
“A new state law in California will instruct counties and municipalities to conserve wildlife corridors when planning new development. […] This could entail everything from creating wildlife crossings at roads or highways, employing wildlife-safe fencing, or not developing on certain land.”
7. ‘I think, boy, I’m a part of all this’: how local heroes reforested Rio’s green heart
Tumblr media
“By 2019, [the program] had transformed the city’s landscape, having trained 15,000 local workers like Leleco, who have planted 10m seedlings across […] roughly 10 times the area of New York’s Central Park. Reforested sites include mangroves and vegetation-covered sandbars called restinga, as well as wooded mountainsides around favelas.”
8. Alabama Town Plans to Drop Criminal Charges Over Unpaid Garbage Bills
Tumblr media
““Suspending garbage pickup, imposing harsh late penalties and prosecuting people who through no fault of their own are unable to pay their garbage and sewage bills does not make payment suddenly forthcoming,” West said. [… The city] has agreed to drop pending criminal charges against its residents over unpaid garbage bills.”
9. New Hampshire’s low-income community solar program finally moves forward
Tumblr media
“The state energy department is reviewing seven proposals for community solar arrays that will allocate a portion of their bill credits to low-income households. […] New Hampshire’s strategy of working with utilities to automatically enroll households that have already been identified streamlines the process.”
10. The Future Looks Bright for Electric School Buses
Tumblr media
“EPA has awarded about $3 billion in grants from the infrastructure law, which paid to replace about 8,700 buses. Of those, about 95 percent are electric. [… Electric buses are] cheaper to operate and require less maintenance than diesel buses and will soon be at cost parity when looking at the lifetime cost of ownership[….]”

In Baltimore City, MD: Super adorable 5-month-old and 7-month old pups with Demodex surrendered to the shelter - BARCS, Baltimore MD
If you can foster either baby, we can contact local rescues to ask for help, please email [email protected]
Gia (left)- 5 months, unaltered female, 20lbs
Randall (right)- 7 months, unaltered male, 34lbs
Little cuties, Gia and Randall, were picked up by our partnering Animal Control after their owner surrendered them. Both were a bit overwhelmed when they first arrived, but fortunately Randall warmed up quickly and is such a sweetheart. Gia is on the shyer, more fearful side, and is not fully comfortable with handling, especially around her poor, painful ears.
Outside of their intake exams, Gia and Randall have both proven to be gentle souls who appear eager and willing to trust people and make friends. Since she's more nervous, Gia was moved into a quiet staff office, where she's already begun to decompress and takes treats very gently when offered. Randall has shown off his social skills with other dogs and has loved romping around the play yard with friends.
Upon examination, our vets noted that both Gia and Randall have conjunctivitis, otitis, and chronic dermatitis. A skin scrape revealed demodex mites, so they were immediately given Bravecto, started on a few meds for their skin and ears, and are scheduled to have medicated baths twice weekly. Full medical summaries can be provided upon request.
Gia and Randall are both available immediately for rescue pick-up.
Please let us know if your organization can help!
Thank you,

Newest Foster Dog (from Kosovo!)
We have a new foster dog keeping Diamond company these days. Berry traveled a long way to join us here. He’s from Kosovo! OPH has an international dog program, pulling dogs from countries where they are often treated as ‘pests’ rather than sentient beings. They pull a small number of street dogs from India, Kosovo, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Dogs living in the streets in these countries…

Brawl roster COMPLETE, nicklauerart the original person behind these designs did an outstanding job with them all, some of them I ended up adding little details in some of them, as for the one with grim, I made him carry a sea lard from adventure time and made it dress like me Saturn from the mother series , I’m now on the homestretch of it all and now have started on the smash 4 roster and I seriously can’t wait to show them all to you!

Seriously, I just like cartoons. I wanted to try more bold lineart and colors this time around, sometimes drawing in soft colors gets boring :p
Quite proud of this one, just saying.

Oh, I love Summer so much, I just had to make some more CN art for it. 🧡
It’s such a beautiful day today and everyone is at the beach to have some fun. (And so was I earlier today, lol.)
This piece and a follow-up night one (coming soon) were inspired by the 2009 “CN Summer in Italy” bumpers.
Summer is short, y’all, enjoy it while it’s here, before the cold kicks in and the winter depression hits. Have a fun one out there and stay safe!
P.S. (I didn’t know there was a tag limit, whoops. Guess that’s what happens when I try to put as many characters in one image as I can.)
