And now to reciprocate! What kind of a wip are you working on right now?
I'm trying? To work? On anything!
It's going poorly, because I've got a lot of other stuff going on in my outside of writing life, but I think we're starting to settle back into a routine, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to pick something up again soon.
I'd really like to get back to my big witcher wip and also see if I can wrap up what I want to be a much shorter shyan one. We'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks!

Some Advice For People Leaving Comments on Fanfics:
“I liked your fic”
Nice, but basic and easy to overlook
Doesn’t compel the author to do anything other than take the compliment
Sounds like you might be a bot (ew)
“I am going to eat your floorboards!”
Unique and attention grabbing
Makes me second guess whether I should have bought that insurance
Sounds like you might be a termite (how did a termite learn to type????)

For Fanfic Writer Friday, I have two questions! 💚
What was the last writing-related idea/realization/moment that made you excited?
Do you tend to write one WIP at a time, or do you write multiple simultaneously?
Thank you, dear 💜
The last realisation I had was that I can actually finish this wip and I'm actually looking forward to writing this chapter. I've kind of struggled with the arranged marriage au and it was really nice to remember that writing should be/is fun. (All the lovely people sending me the ✒️ helped so so much)
Ah, so technically I prefer only writing one thing at a time. Right now I have three wips (bc I had ideas for "one shots that won't take long to write". Oh what a fool I've been) Which effectively means that two of them have been put on hold until I finish the third one and then it'll be really hard to get back into the first two again

Things you might not realize are affecting your ao3 readership:
Putting unrelated fics into one compilation instead of series or collections
Not tagging your fics/“haha I’m so bad at tagging!”
Tagging all of the ships in a fandom instead of the relevant ones to the story
“This is my first fic ever”/ “I’m really not a good writer” / “sorry if this is crap”
Summaries that say “sorry don’t think I will update much” or “might be abandoned idk”
Tagging “r@pe” or “unaliving” etc instead of the actual tag so people can filter/exclude
NOT tagging major, relevant tags or kinks without using the “creator chose not to use archive warnings” option
Telling people how bad your writing is and how you hate it so much and how they shouldn’t even be reading your fic (self deprecation)
Weird punctuation: not starting new quotes or descriptions on a new line, and/or putting extremely long blocks of text on the page without a break

👋🏽 Hi dtblrinas, artists, writers, editors, webweavers, readers and everyone in between! Just a little reminder that the second Fic Art Friday is coming up, we are excited to see what you all have in store. Last friday was spectacularly inspiring, the blobs are painting their own art from the fics you recommended now! (Sapnap became the designated water boy blob) 💦
⭐️ If this is your first time, here's a little primer so you know what to do and how to tag so everyone can see and appreciate your hard work. And here's the tag where you can see all the previous artworks if you want some inspiration (or recommended fics to read 😉)
Happy summer art-ing! And feel free to come talk to us for any exciting ideas or stewing questions.

✨Thankful Thursday/Favorite Fiction Friday✨
Hi everyone! This week has been kind of crazy, but I haven’t forgotten. June’s a fantastic month for many different reasons: Pride, end of the fiscal year, for some it’s the end of the school year. But, there are many things to be thankful for.
I will start with, a MASSIVE thank you to @autism-purgatory , who made me fanart of Peter Hart that I am still gushing about and showing to my husband. You took time out of your day to draw my characters and make me smile, and I cannot thank you enough for that. I know how much joy it brings to see your characters come to life, and really inspire people. Thank you, G.J.
HUGE thank you to @thatuselesshuman who made me laugh from this meme about my stories, because it is entirely accurate and hilarious. Another one for my collection ✨
Gigantic thanks to @gioiaalbanoart, @wyked-ao3 and @sunglasses-in-the-bentley , who are reading Peter Hart for a second time (anyone else who is, please let me know too!) To read my works the first time is a gigantic honor; to go through the adventure again is one of the highest praises for an author, next to receiving fanart, fanworks, and fanfiction.
Thank you to this kind stranger, who made me beam all day from this comment. And thank you this community, who has shown so much kindness and support that I wonder why I’ve kept my talents hidden so long. Well, NO MORE. You will get art, you will get stories, you will get support, the best way I know how. I will do my best
Okay, enough gushing. Here are my favorite authors, and my favorite fiction from them:
@autism-purgatory — Loop Of The Hollow
@alinacapellabooks —The Tengu and the Angel
@gioiaalbanoart — Too Far Gone?
@justabigoldnerd — I Am Your Lover (I Am Your Jailor)
@fortunatetragedy — Doom Metal Love Story
@wyked-ao3 — Tuesday event or is it
@poorreputation — Dimples
@sunglasses-in-the-bentley — I Won’t Hurt You
@pippinoftheshire — Sing Me A Lullaby Before I Go
@lychhiker-writes — Snippet Dump
@brigidfromthecelts — The Devil’s Sonata
@dyrewrites — Before Deluca
@froggy-pposto — oblation
@deanwax — Cycle’s End
@far-cry-from-finality — The World’s Not Ending As Long As We’re In It
@theverumproject — The Verum Project
@snugglesquiggle — Hostile Takeover
@zackprincebooks — Dear Heart
@bookish-karina — Your Average Fangirl
@glasshouses-and-stones — The system’s breaking down
@thatuselesshuman — Bloody Hands are Kind
@piscesapplelady35 — As Lethal As Holy Water
@shards-things — Meant To Be
@sic-sempervirens — Taarasthari
@katenewmanwrites — Whispers In The Moonlight
@noblebs — Everything With Teeth
I’m most likely missing a few, but if YOU know of some amazing authors and literature, feel free to add to this list and spread the positivity!
For everyone reading this: Your fiction is fantastic, your stories are inspiring, and you are an amazing writer, artist, and human on this planet. Thank you for everything. 💫

here, have more of that new oneshot:
“I- I don’t-…” she whimpers. “It was just me today, you know, since it’s the middle of the week. Tommy called and asked if I could get you the tea, a-and this guy came in. H-he had a gun.”
Evan nods slowly.
“A-anyway, Tommy came in, a-and the guy had already fired it-..”
“Did anyone get shot,” he asks, panicked.
“I got grazed on my side,” she replies. “B-but Tommy-..”
“Maddie said it was a stabbing,” he states.
Natalie nods. “It was. Tommy, he- he got the gun away from him, and they started to fight, and I had gotten up a- and I don’t- I don’t know, Evan. One minute they were fighting and the next, Tommy was on the ground, telling me to let him take whatever he wanted. When I emptied the drawers, he cut my arm and then took the money and ran. I don't know where the knife came from.”
Evan exhales a shaky breath, blinking away more tears as he wraps an arm around Natalie again.
They’d found her café on a whim one early Thursday morning. They’d both come off shift late after working overtime on a blaze in Hollywood. They’d planned on just going home to bed, but Evan had been so hungry and their usual café hadn’t been open because it was still so early. So Tommy had found Nat’s place on the internet and had driven them there. She had a unique enough menu that they were both able to find something they liked, and she handcrafted all the drinks herself. Nat’s café was her own homegrown business she’d started at 22. She’s barely 25.
He finally looks up in the direction of Sal, taking him in for the first time. The older man looks exhausted, but not defeated. He has to believe that means something if he decided to stick around.
“Buckley,” the other man comments as they cross the room. He sits down in a free chair and Natalie sits back down in the chair she’d been in previously.
“Did they tell you anything,” he asks nervously, trying not to bounce his legs too much.
Sal shakes his head. “Henderson, the paramedic on shift today, said he counted three on the left side. I don't where or how deep. As soon as we got here, they started mass transfusion protocol and rushed him up here.”
Evan nods. No news is good news, right?

What has been the hardest fic for you to write?
Ever? I'm not sure. Many things have been hard in the doing but the pleasure of hitting post has relieved me of the memory of how hard it was.
Lately? Everything is hard. I'm adjusting to ADHD meds + we moved house at the end of October, so I feel like I've lost touch with how to write and I need to find my way back. It's a slow journey, but I think we're gonna get there eventually. I'm gonna keep trying, at any rate.

Okay, this may sound... random. But I see Jason Voorhees more like a son than anything. This isn't shipping, this is just something wholesome I really wanna see.
Jason meets the reader and sees them as a parental figure, and the reader sees him like a son. And they have a healthy {as can be with an undead murderer} mother/father-son relationship.
I've never seen anyone do this, and I just want some wholesome parent-son time with him TvT
Parent Trapped
(Jason Voorhees x Reader /p; this was really fun to write!)

This was supposed to be a fun vacation. You and a few friends had planned to visit some popular urban legend spots, one of them being Camp Crystal Lake. The story had always intrigued you, and you had managed to convince your friends to stop and look around just as the sign had come into view. How could you have known that there actually was an undead killer protecting the camp who was now picking off all of your fellow trespassers? Luckily, you'd managed to take shelter in a cabin that he had yet to explore. It was a little cleaner than the others, but not by much. No cobwebs, but a light layer of dust has settled around the cabin. A small stuffed teddy bear rested on the bed, tattered head placed delicately on the dirty pillow. You reach your hand out to pick it up as sharp snap from outside caught your attention. You whipped your head towards the window, quickly taking the bear in your arms for some sort of comfort. There he stood. You both froze, neither wanting to move as if staying still would prolong the inevitable. You take a hesitant step back, as if that movement would be your last. He didn't move. Just watched as you bolted out of the cabin and towards the woods.
"Jason, spare them." The voice of his mother echoed in his skull, forcing him out of the trance he had been in. For the first time, he doubted it was her. He obeyed regardless. Jason found you crouched under a hastily assembled leaf blanket, bear clutched tightly to your chest while you shivered in your sleep. He moved carefully, lifting your form with gentle ease as he brought you back into the cabin to rest. He didn't know why you had been an exception, your friends certainly hadn't been, but your presence did make him feel... protected? It was strange. He hadn't felt peace with a person at Camp Crystal Lake since his mother worked here, and even then her reach could only go so far. Maybe... if he could convince you...
You sat on the edge of your bed, hand haphazardly plunging a needle and thread into worn fabric that you'd finally been able to keep out of Jason's sight. Several years had gone by since you fell into the role of Camp Crystal Lake's second resident. While Jason disposed of trespassers and kept you safe, you kept the place tidy and him cared for. It was fairly easy, and Jason seemed to enjoy your company. He liked to help you clean, and would often hang around you while you were cooking, a habit you gathered was left over from when his mother was alive. You were relieved when he first rejected your romantic advances that you thought would be an easy escape plan, thankful that he truly did want nothing to do with that. Although, he did appreciate a doting kiss to the cheek (mask?) and other simple affections. The cabin door swung open as you reminisced, tying a final knot that you prayed would hold as the thread sealed the seam in the barely-held-together bear.
"Jason Voorhees, if you get any mud or blood on that floor so help me-" In an instant, an undead hand was extended towards you, holding a random assortment of flowers and leaves. A gentle smile graced your lips, replacing an older makeshift bouquet with the new one while he stood, hands fiddling at his sides.
"I have something for you too!" You stood, bear hidden behind your back as he tilted his head. Standing up on your tip-toes, you lifted the bear up to his face, watching as his stoic body language changed to a child-like joy. He scooped the bear up in an instant, pulling you in for a tight hug while your giggles filled the small cabin. In the midst of the moment, your eyes caught a glimpse of something on the floor, turning both of your attention's to the trail of Jason's boot-prints on the freshly cleaned floor. He got a very stern talking to about taking his shoes off before coming inside while he mopped the floor, apologizing for the mess the whole time.

Happy Flash Fic Friday ❤️ @flashfictionfridayofficial Title: two stars (midnight blue) Fandom: ATLA (pairing Aang/Zuko) Word Count: 995 Rating: Somewhere between Gen-Teen+ Tags: Post-canon, future fic, friendship, romance, (Aang is 18, Zuko is 22) s/o out to The Japan Society for providing some history for the legend of the Tanabata and the Star Festival that makes an appearance in this fic ~
As the moon lures salt waves further from the shore, each residual lap of surf swells gently against their feet. The sun has long set, but the warmth of the Ember Island summer still radiates from the sand that cradles their shoulders.
Back up at the house, their friends prepare a first-night feast of elephant koi and cabbage noodles. The laughter and commotion and reconnecting of their first day at the beach subside with the evening tide, leaving- mysteriously yet predictably- Aang and Zuko alone together.
Backs to warm, wet earth and bare chests facing the starry expanse, something bizarre, but familiar passes between them in traded stolen glances in the dim moonlight.
Neither of them speaks for a while, but that’s alright. As two men who spend their lives performing in the public eye, restorative silence is a rare treat they eagerly indulge in together.
“Do you see those two stars?” Zuko breaks the stillness, pointing up into the expanse of blue midnight.
“Which two?” Aang asks, nudging a bit closer to Zuko’s shoulder.
“Those two, the ones that are almost overlapping,” Zuko closes the last few inches between them, shoulders now pressed, cheeks close enough to feel their radiating heat. He points again, one eye closed, “One is slightly bluish around the edge, the other more yellow.”
Inhaling and exhaling slowly, Aang fights his focus to stay on the sky. “Okay, yeah, I see them.”
Zuko drops his hand to his chest, tight with a sting almost as familiar as the rhythm of his own heart. From the stillness of the forest in Pohuai six years ago to Ember Island’s shore and every step they’ve taken in between—some mad yearning has followed them both. Try as they may, neither of them has found a way to shake the ghost of this ever-present dull ache, this unanswered question.
Perhaps, neither of them wanted to.
The rush of tumbling pebbles around their ankles snaps Zuko back. He continues, “When I was really little, our mom once took Azula and me to the Tanabata festival to celebrate the return of these two stars to one another.”
“Return?"
“It only happens once a year. The old story goes that they’re lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi. They fell in love almost instantly. But, they were forbidden from one another. And once, during the summer every year, they are allowed to reunite. Only for one night.“
“That’s beautiful. And... tragic,” Aang turns on his side to face Zuko, cheek on his fist and elbow digging into the warm sand, “Why couldn’t they be together?”
“Honestly, it’s been so long that that story has been in my head,” Zuko angles his face to Aang, their eyes meeting in the strange salty mist of the evening, “I can’t really remember why it was forbidden in the first place.”
For a few moments of gold searching grey, there is nothing but the rise and fall of surf and stilted breath.
Aang swallows, needing to find something to do with his hands and some reason to look away, he traces lines into the sand between them. “So, they just live their lives, waiting? For something that they only get to have in tiny glimpses?”
“I guess so.” Zuko says, watching Aang’s every nervous movement.
“Well, what happens? Do they ever try to leave it all behind, just run far and fast and find a way to be together?” In the way Aang’s grey eyes glimmer when he looks at Zuko again, they seem to catch every constellation, every star-crossed love story smattering the cosmos.
“Open to interpretation, I think.” Zuko swallows, holding Aang’s gaze with a gentleness that says more than it should. He wonders if Aang can sense the jump in his pulse through the sand.
He can.
Aang knows this dance. It’s a kindness, an agreement they’ve entreated upon many times before. In moments that feel too precarious for their friendship to hold, they invent some code, some shared shadow to hide themselves under to escape the oppressive light of the truth behind their words.
But here, in the dark, with ancient forbidden love illuminating the night sky, something reckless curls around them like the sea water swelling around their ankles.
Aang inhales uneasily, testing the feel of his impending breach in his throat. After another breath, it breaks loose, “How would you want it to end, then? If you could rewrite the story?” His whisper so raw and honest he can barely hear it.
Zuko blinks in incredulous silence. Aang waits.
“Aang.” Zuko pleads, breathy with warning.
Drawing his brow together, Aang reaches to ghost the lines of Zuko’s neck.
Zuko stiffens, breath quickening under Aang’s fingertips. Under his skin, Aang can feel blood pounding with a speed that sends a strange warmth skittering over his skin.
Zuko swallows, throat brittle, “Don’t you already know what I would say?” he barely whispers.
“Maybe I don't,” Aang murmurs, hand fitting against Zuko’s cheek, fingers dancing at the edge of his scar, “Maybe a glimpse here and there is enough. Maybe you think love stories are better that way.”
Before he can register it, Zuko is shaking his head no and his damp palm is flush against the blue arrow of Aang’s hand.
“No?” Aang says, a laugh shaped breath passes through him, “That’s good. That would make for a terrible story.”
They look at one another, mirth and helplessness and hunger thrashing in the thick ocean air between them. Zuko’s eyes find Aang’s lips in the moonlight and reflexively, after all this time, Zuko still tries to bite back the surging feeling that he wants to move. Aang’s lips part gently and the split second of motion is enough to rattle Zuko’s resolve loose from its foundation.
So, he moves. Finally. Aang does, too. They move in soft mouths and rushing exhales and wandering hands. And as they do—far away in the heavens above, two star-crossed lovers find their way to one another in the pure inevitability of long-awaited collide.
