The day had been… unbearably long.

Cody asked for this life, begged for it even, and truly he wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. But even so there are days when it all wears on him.

The schedule today was grueling, typical 4-6am workout session followed by radio and tv appearances. A charity lunch, which rejuvenated him somewhat since he got to interact with kids, then followed by another long press event ahead of the documentary screening.

By the time he was released to head back to his bus, it was nearly 10pm and his usually comfortable suit was stifling him. If he keeps it on another minute he might drown under the weight of all the pressure he’s put himself under.

The last few feet to the bus feel like miles, knowing behind that door is a hot shower, his bed, and the most incredible man on earth to share it with.

Cody opens the door and finds Randy just inside, the picture of comfort in soft sleep shorts and a muscle tank. He’s holding his phone in one hand and scrolling with the other, engrossed until he hears Cody come up the stairs.

“Ey Codes…” He trails off when his eyes meet Cody’s, no doubt reading the tired discomfort written all over his face. Randy tosses his phone onto the counter and spreads his arms invitingly. “C’mere.”

The final steps feel like winning the championship all over again but he makes it, collapsing into Randy’s awaiting embrace. He buries his nose into the soft material covering Randy’s chest, drinking in the familiar scent of their laundry detergent mixed with spiced cologne.

He just breathes for a long moment, feeling a little life come back to him already.

After a few minutes, Randy pulls him out from his hiding spot. “How ‘bout we get ready for bed, huh?”

Cody can only nod, keen to let his beloved take the reigns.

Randy maneuvers him up to standing again, taking on most of his weight with ease. Deft fingers make quick work untying his tie and freeing his neck before guiding off the suit jacket and setting it over the couch.

The larger man takes his time with the waistcoat and shirt, navigating each little button under his big hands, careful not to tug or go too quick as to ruin the beautiful garments.

They join the jacket before Randy turns Cody around, moving his hands to the now exposed shoulders and rubbing into the sore muscles.

Cody groans in pleasure, dropping his head back to rest against Randy’s chest, leaving him open and vulnerable for attack, which of course the Viper cannot resist taking.

He presses kisses along Cody’s cheeks and down his neck, enjoying the wanton sounds that escape Cody’s lips.

Suddenly Randy moves away, but not before giving a quick smack to Cody’s ass, not hard enough to hurt, just to tease. He winks as he crosses in front of Cody’s field of vision, headed towards the bathroom. “Wait here.”

He hears the shower kick on before Randy re-emerges and disappears again back to their bedroom. Cody closes his eyes, listening to Randy’s footfalls and picturing each step he takes, rummaging through their closet.

Sure enough when the bedroom door opens again, Randy’s holding a big fluffy robe (probably stolen from a hotel) and two towels.

Randy flips one towel over his shoulder, freeing up a hand to reach out toward Cody. “C’mon baby, shower time.”

He takes Randy’s hand, following him into the small steam filled room with just enough room for both of them to stand inside. Randy yanks off his own shirt and shorts before returning his attention to the rest of Cody’s suit, undoing the buckle on his belt before unzipping him.

Kneeling, he tugs off Cody’s loafers, tossing them to the corner before rolling down the matching paisley socks and giving his toes a little pinch.

Randy’s eye level with Cody’s dick as he pushes down his trousers and boxers, lingering for a moment there. It brings back all the rushed furtive blow jobs from over the years, in dark hallways and empty locker rooms, but he’s too tired to get aroused.

For his part, Randy also seems uninterested in sex at the moment, simply pressing a kiss to a freckle on Cody’s hip before helping him out of the trouser legs.

Randy rises to his full height and gestures Cody under the warm spray.

He lets out a long groan as the water hits his sore and aching muscles, tension melting out of him. Randy comes in behind him, grabbing Cody’s special purple shampoo and working it into a lather before massaging his fingers into Cody’s scalp.

There’s no pressure between them to talk, Randy just hums a tune as he works the shampoo into Cody’s hair. There’s a tap on his shoulder that tells him to turn around, and he leans his head back into the water to rinse all the suds out.

As he rinses, Randy lathers up a bar of soap and starts at his collarbones, working in slow circles down Cody’s body. By the time Cody feels like his head is free of shampoo residue, Randy’s halfway down the front of his body, working efficiently to take care of him.

Cody can’t help but stare at him, in awe of the man that his once-wild Randy has become. If he could tell his younger self how Randy is now, he’s sure the younger version would not believe it. Though you never know, maybe he would have. He did always have a weak spot for Randy, seeing the good in him even when Randy himself couldn’t see it.

He’s pulled from his reverie with a gentle shove back under the running water to rinse off.

Randy himself doesn’t bother to clean off, which by the state Cody’d found him in upon arrival probably meant that he’d already showered earlier. Meaning he put himself back in the shower for Cody’s benefit alone.

Cody has to fight down the swell of emotion threatening to overtake him.

It’s probably all over his face, as Randy looks concerned. He brings a hand to Cody’s cheek, rubbing his thumb across the soft skin reassuringly. “You good, Codes?”

He nods, putting on a reassuring smile.

Randy gives him a look but doesn’t press further. “Alright, lemme grab the towels.” He presses his lips against the wet skin of Cody’s nose before exiting the shower.

Cody does at least have the awareness to shut off the water, only beginning to tremble slightly in the chilly air before Randy hands him a big fluffy towel.

He dries himself off pretty well before stepping out. Randy doesn’t have any hair to dry so it takes him no time at all, and he has the robe waiting for Cody to slip his arms into.

Randy gets him bundled up and presses a kiss to the lines of his forehead. He chuckles softly, “You put me in mind of a wet cat.”

“Rude,” Cody frowns.

“It’s true,” Randy ruffles his wet hair. “Cute though.”

The steam flows out the door into the rest of the bus as they shuffle back to the small bedroom. Randy throws back the sheets and makes space under the covers for them before climbing in.

Cody shucks off the robe before getting cozy under the covers. He rolls and burrows into the warmth of Randy’s waiting arms.

For a moment he simply breathes, letting this sense of peace and safety surround him. Cody’s been remarkably lucky to have travelled the world and lived in many places. But no matter where he is, he only finds himself truly at home in Randy’s embrace.

to understand valkyrie's dynamic in the most basic way possible, shu is an incredibly talented artist who might seem extremely standoffish and cold while also being very short tempered (especially during the earlier stories) but he is very tender to those who cares about. throughout his entire arc though he learns how to express those feelings better so its really sweet to see ^-^ he really loves antique dolls and admires any type of art form really. and hes a very big croissant enjoyer. currently in the story hes studying in france. and i dont care if its only like a silly gag in the game but you have to take shu having DID out of my cold dead hands. he sometimes speaks through the doll his grandfather gave him, mademoiselle.

and mika is, for a lack of a better word his biggest fan(tm). type of guy that would defend anything shu does on twitter lmao. but before getting into their relationship!! i need to gush about my silly first. mika is an orphan who ends up at yumenosaki because he remembers meeting shu when they were both kids and seeing shu perform once. and was like. "hey. i want to be next to him" and somehow??? got in???? but anyway. hes a very sweet guy but might sometimes come off as a bit of an airhead. doesnt help w the fact that he keeps saying hes dumb while that not being the case at all. he really likes plushies :3 he frequently picks up abandoned plushies and clothes from the trash to fix them up and everything. he also has a bit of a sweet tooth lol. but he prefers cheaper candy or sweets that are a little flawed like a cake thats slightly burnt and whatnot because he says that the nice ones make him sick.

oh wow this is already so long im SORRY but getting into them together, their entire arc is them growing and learning and trying to become the best versions of themselves as partners.

during ! era, the earlier batch of stories, when mika first joins valkyrie his relationship with shu is really not healthy at all. people still call them a proship sometimes because they will just ignore any development they had 💀 this was the time that mika was incredibly devoted to shu and very dependent on him. that his only purpose was to be shu's doll for him to control and lead him because he couldnt be trusted with himself or whatever. this being paired with shu's perfectionism resulted in this dynamic of a puppeteer and his puppet, basically. i will probably get to the war in another ask if you want me to bc. i feel like im rambling on too much nfmfnf <.< but after the events of the war their dynamic starts changing with time, in the later ! stories a few of them shows this switch to emphasizing mika needing to become his own person, and to live as a human instead of mindlessly following what shu says him to do. when we get to the !! era how much they've both grown is way more visible, by now shu has moved to france but visits japan frequently for valkyrie's activities or other things. shu cannot shut up about being partners in art with mika and is really proud of how far he has come. mika on the other hand, he really starts pushing for his own artistic taste more and also!! he calls shu out on his bullshit sometimes its really fun to read.

and if you want more tragic yaoi, id recommend listening to acanthe first and the lyrics then going onto le temps des fleurs, both have insane stories in the game accompanying the songs but i will . stop myself for now. all i will say is that the outfits in le temps des fleurs, half of it is supposed to be the groom while the other is the bride, so yeah theyre married to me now.

ohhhh theyre so silly. honestly love that character development for them <3 so glad gay marriage is real in enstars
