I have loved doing weekly fic recs for everyone and will continue to do it every Thursday, but for the last Thursday of 2023, I wanna take this time to give everyone the opportunity to reblog this post with YOUR fic recs!

If you'd prefer to give love to a fic in another way, follow @steddieunderdogfics and send them in! There are so many fun challenges coming up with that blog and the mod is working sooooo hard to make sure we have plenty of content every single day.

As a reminder, writers and artists in fandom are doing things they want to do for free. While it is fun, sometimes people really suck. Show them love and appreciation as often as you can, especially when you really enjoyed something they put time into creating! Like, reblog, kudos, comment, send them a nice message! I promise it will make their day to hear from you 💖

Also a note about being kind to mods running blogs, especially those with writing or art challenges. It takes a lot to run a blog, especially when doing it by yourself, and it's done to add something fun to the fandom. The more time mods spend dealing with rude comments and messages, the less time they spend providing fun, and at a certain point, it becomes not fun at all and then everyone loses out on something that was meant to be exciting. If you don't like the rules, don't participate. It's that simple.

Favorite Events

for @st-loveconfessions day 17: Favorite Events

Well first of all, this month of structured prompts to spread joy and love in this fandom is a favorite, I think it's a great response to both in-fandom drama and also life has been getting only increasingly difficult for people and taking the time to either give or receive something kind does help <3

@steddiemicrofic is my favorite of all time, I started doing them in July 2023 when I was still new to posting fanfiction and being a more active part of a fandom! They've been great writing exercises and some of my favorite ideas ever have started with microfics. I have a love/hate relationship with word counter dot net now :' ) @steddieunderdogfics This is less' an event and more of a collection of weekly events! I just really like this blog and think they're doing great work, I've found so many fics I wouldn't have come across without them <3

@corrodedcoffinfest I think in fandom there are a lot of missed opportunities and one of them is how more of us could be exploring the band and their relationships! They don't get a lot of screen time but they're very much an integral part of canon, and it's great to have guidance on where to start with figuring out what stories you want to write about them!

Spicy Six Events: @thefreakandthehair puts these on, and I think they're also a great way to expand the horizons of fandom. Spixy Six (+Chrissy) are all really interesting characters with enough backstory and personality to fill a book, so the encouragement to write about them and their interpersonal dynamics is fantastic!

I got so burnt out over the holidays, the socialising and family obligations overwhelmed my boundaries, self-care, and need for a schedule - so I haven't really been able to work on anything creative for a little while.

I'd started writing this a little while ago after seeing @steddieunderdogfics' January Calendar had the Hanahaki theme for 1/13. I've not really read many Hanahaki stories before, but I wanted to give it a go! So here we are!

I was listening to Heather by Conan Gray when it dawned on me that it is also the name of a flowering shrub native to Scotland, so it's another Emito Steddie Songfic, too!

It's a 10k word, one-shot, find it here on my Ao3.

Steve manages to save Eddie from the Upside Down, but as they wait for him to wake up Steve gets sicker and sicker, coughing up tiny, brightly coloured flowers.

first of all i adore everything you post and im, probably constantly in your notifs lol

i'm hoping you'd be able to give me some fic recs? i miss reading steddie, but my reading comprehension tanked this past year or so. so i can only read one shots or completed fics that arent that many chapters. and i feel like i dont have a lot of luck just scrollin g their aos tag

Monthly Word Count Wrap-Up

November 2024

One more down, one month to go.

November was a little rough. A lot of my will to write was knocked back, and that has really shown in the numbers. I worked on 5 different projects this month, for a total of 21,689 words. (Steddie Thoughts is my dumping ground for words that exist, but won't turn into anything.)

My 500 words a day streak is still being dragged along behind me by sheer force of will alone at this point, lol. I let myself get behind schedule on my entries for @steddieholidaydrabbles which started today. Go check it out to participate and/or follow along with the entries! I know there will be lots of good stuff coming from many amazing contributors this month.

That said, you can see that's where I spent the majority of my time this month, working on the prompts for it, just trying to get even slightly ahead of the curve:

In November, I averaged 722.97 words a day.

And the yearly average, now sits at 1024.87 words per day.

I was nominated for a Writer's Spotlight over on @steddieunderdogfics and my day was 11/6. Thanks so much for including me! It made my day, and it was so much fun to answer the questions.
