sora’s purring joins the gentle whistle sung by the breeze that swept through the bedroom window, chiffon curtains dancing to the soft tune like delicate petals.

cloud couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a taste of spring weather — of bitter cold melting into tender warmth.

the change of seasons was hardly ever noticeable without trees to flourish the busy streets with life, lakes to freeze over at the gradual drop of temperature, and flowers to splash the otherwise monochrome edge with color in the spring.

perhaps, it made the planet worth saving after all. to have been rewarded for his efforts at the very end with the beauty of the world, along with his beloved partner.. and a feline friend.

your chest rose and fell with breath, quietly, but surely, eyes fluttered shut. an unspoken trust, which your boyfriend treasured more than he could verbally express.

it was too early to even be up right now for most people.. but cloud, unfortunately, had to represent his little company as its only delivery guy and employee within the next two hours.

he fought back an annoyed sigh at the mental reminder of it.. only to remember that you had still been fast asleep.

any indicative sound that threatened to portray his irritation and spill from his lips all but melted away, falling completely silent on his tongue. because how could he possibly ruin the serene image of you all bundled up and cozy.

the exasperated exhale died all together in the stream of his windpipe as his features relaxed once more in repose.

normally he preferred taking up long distant deliveries by himself, but on this particular occasion, the client happened to live in your seaside hometown — costa del sol. a place that was untouched by the unpleasant smog of edge, and instead painted in a kaleidoscope of vibrant coats.. rather than a trillion shades of gray.

a shift in movement made his mako tinted sapphires flash just briefly before sliding to your stirring form.

his ears caught a jumbled, almost incoherent murmur ( were it not for his amplified hearing ) and cloud wondered to himself for a moment what dreams had joined you in your slumber. something lovely, he hoped, a gentle caress to your conscience.. and not the nightmares that haunted him until dawn on some evenings.

moonless nights when cloud thought too hard for comfort, let alone decent rest.

although, those had been few now. infrequent, thankfully, all because of your solace-filled presence — pressed into his chest.. and the light nuzzling of your calico kitty tucked into his side.

a silent, meow-less request for breakfast.. or maybe not. maybe it was just to ask cloud to stay a little while longer, and enjoy that which he could not back in edge.

waking up to unsullied air- a mixture of floral aromas and the soft, but welcome dripping of morning dew traveling from petal to petal, was.. sadly a rarity, the former infantryman realized.

which is why he found himself sinking into the pillows and duvets in submission, allowing darkness to greet his eyes for another round of sleep. two hours were more than enough to get dressed and to his destination. so truly, all he needed was thirty minutes to be dressed and out of your childhood home.

the hour and a half remaining could blissfully go to cuddling you a little while longer, all else drowning into background noise as he would slip further and further, deeper and deeper. surrendering himself completely to your warm company, the serendipitous quiet, and spring morn.

notes. okay this is way shorter than what i normally write, but i hope it’s still good😭 not much dialogue, just cloud being soft and at ease for a change ahaha

Cloud tolerates lots of rude customers for his delivery service but if they are TOO rude and he gets a chance he has the perfect clapback.

Customer: What took you so long?????

Cloud: I got stabbed (doesn't add the fact it was months ago and he's fine now)

Customer: Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know.

Cloud, letting out a dramatic pained sigh: It's okay, you're not the first person to yell at me.

Customer, feeling guilty: Um, oh, I'm sorry. Please, take this. *gives Cloud a 5 gil tip*

Cloud: Thank you, that will really help. It's been so hard getting back to normal, what after the several stabbings, the illness, the severe PTSD-

Customer: *gives Cloud 100 more gil*

Cloud: Thank you, enjoy.

Cloud, walking away: Sucker. Works every time.

Wrote a silly thing about Cloud and Kadaj...

How old was Kadaj, anyway?

The thought, for some reason, couldn't leave Cloud's mind as he drove from Seventh Heaven to the Forgotten City.

He wanted to focus on something else. Anything else. But he was curious.

Kadaj looked really young. So did the other Remnants- Yazoo and Loz, if he was remembering correctly- but Kadaj especially. 

Fifteen? Sixteen? He couldn't be older than eighteen. He looked like a baby. When Cloud looked at him, he just thought of Denzel and Marlene, because he just looked so young.

He shouldn't be fighting. The Remnants shouldn't be fighting at all. They should be in a nice house, being taken care of, being loved.

Were these children loved at all? 

Did they know what that was? Did they know what love felt like? Why did they take Marlene? She didn't have geostigma, right? So, did they envy her?

Then, Cloud was annoyed. He was going to fight the Remnants. Possibly kill them. And they wanted to kill him, too. They had his kids, and a bunch of other kids like them, sick kids, using their innocent nature and bending it to their wills.

But Cloud still...pitied them. 

They look like little Sephiroths. They look little.

(Maybe not the big one, but he certainly acted little, sometimes. The way he cried made Cloud think of Marlene.)

Cloud had to shake away the thoughts as he drove on. But dread struck him in the chest when he thought of Kadaj calling him big brother. 

Dread turned into guilt. The guilt made him numb. 

(and part two)

Cloud had never felt so light- he defeated Sephiroth for the second time and his body was cured- but he had never felt so horrible at the same time. Not since Aerith.

Kadaj was in his arms, his body growing limp and colder by the second. The boy always had a chill surround him, but this was different. And he was scared. Not once had Cloud seen Kadaj scared (but there was a moment right after he absorbed the Jenova cells where he thought maybe there was a hint of fear in his little brother's eyes) but this was different.

Kadaj was terrified. Cloud didn't know what to do.

This was different.

When Zack died, he was smiling. He seemed happy. There was something in his eyes that betrayed that notion, but Zack died with a smile on his face nonetheless.

When Aerith died, she was already too far gone by the time Cloud got to hold her. Her eyes were closed and she, too, died with a smile on her face.

Kadaj was still alive, but his life was slowly leaving him. His horrible existence of nothing but torment would be over soon, probably.

But how was Cloud supposed to comfort a dying boy? 

The word "brother" passed Kadaj's lips like a breath and Cloud's own had hitched in his throat. He exhaled and blinked. He tried to steady himself.

Cloud smoothed Kadaj's hair away from his face. An unconscious action, one he had done to Denzel a few times before when the boy was sleeping. Kadaj had leaned into Cloud just a bit.

Then Kadaj perked up as if someone spoke to him.

"Mother, is that...?"

Was Kadaj crying, or was that the rain on his face.

He slowly reached up as if to grab someone's hand. Cloud's eyes followed. He held Kadaj a little closer out of reflex.

And then, before Cloud knew it, he was watching Kadaj disperse into nothing, returning to the Lifestream, his torment put to an end.

And then, Cloud peered down at his empty hands, and he felt himself begin to cry.

I never understood why people thought Cloud was OOC in Advent Children. Guilt, grief and regret don't just magically go away once a friend pieces you together. Not to mention that Advent Children introduced a new threat that Cloud felt responsible for. I unabashedly love AC... I don't think it's perfect in characterizing everything but it was one hell of a movie and I think still holds up.

Usually I don't post straight up clips of Advent Children, but god. This is THE Kadaj scene.

His entire character in all of its glory is summed up in this scene, and I can break it down for anyone who doesn't understand.

First of all, it's a perfect display of just how skilled he is in combat, and at controlling his powers. Reno and Rude are both very skilled fighters, and they resided in this room with Rufus while the door was locked. Kadaj managed to slip through said door by turning into mist, and then proceeded to WIPE THE FUCKING FLOOR with Reno and Rude and turn up without a scratch. Not to mention that he clearly was strong enough to take out Elena and TSENG of all people and have proof to show it.

Another thing is that people tend to undermine just how intense Kadaj's emotions are, and how quickly they can flip between one another. Kadaj is described in the ultimania to have intense mood swings and is even written as "insane." When we listen to him talk in this scene, you can tell exactly when his voice drops to be intimidating and cold, when it gets hysterical as he talks about his mother, how it wavers when he brings up they they can't find her, and that he's just a remnant, and how he gets close and nearly yells at Rufus as he mentions that they can't be whole again if they can't find Mother. Mystery, anger, joy, sadness, all of this within ONE conversation. His voice actor noted how hard it was to get Kadaj's mood swings accurately, but by god did that hard work pay off.

We all know Rufus for being like an unwavering rock, staying calm in nearly every situation and being perfectly informed of what's going on. But with Kadaj, he's clearly at a loss. For once, he doesn't have an emotional advantage. He's asking genuine questions. When he tries to be smug for once, Kadaj immediately catches on, and throws the bloodied IDs of Rufus' coworkers at his feet to show that he is NOT fucking around. And Rufus immediately drops the act. Kadaj clearly intimidates him and it SHOWS, even if he does a very good job at hiding it outright. And despite Kadaj outright terrorizing and threatening Rufus, he still calls him "Sir" and "Mr. president." Almost as if to say "your title is just that; a title. You don't have any real strength." He's toying with Rufus and it's fucking beautiful.

God I could go on for HOURS about this scene but I'll stop there. I just needed to yap about it because this is literally my favorite scene from the entire goddamn movie. It's so good. Feel free to add your own thoughts, if you wish.
