Oh, holy SHIT.
Someone on Twitter said that since Sephiroth is associated with stars/the cosmos (and a direct mirror to Aerith who is like the representative of Earth), that his fall from grace is like if a star lost its light and fell, but that made me think of how his final limit break is Supernova, and that’s the death of a star.
It’s the final stage before it dies or collapses into a black hole, sometimes little neutron stars. It releases that last burst of energy and then loses itself. Sephiroth was born to expand and grow to his cosmic limit and die in a blaze of glory. Both beautiful and utterly terrifying.

You know how cat mothers will just carry their offspring over to you and just dump them onto you and leave?
Sephiroth doing that to Cloud with the Remnants.
Sephiroth: *enters Cloud's bedroom carrying one of the remnants. Plonks him onto the bed and leaves without a word*
Cloud: ????

omg you are literally so sweet!!!! thank you so much for this request, although i don’t think i did it justice 😭 i wasnt quite sure how to go about this considering after advent children, the remnants of seph faded into the lifestream (i think?) so it’s more angsty with lots of mentions of kadaj, but i hope you like it either way!! i’m glad you enjoy my sephiroth fics and don’t hesitate to send more asks!! love this one 💕
┊ ˚➶ warnings 。˚ 🎼
mentions of kadaj and remnants of seph, written in a yearning type of way where you still have a hole in your heart left from sephiroth, don’t ask where you came from at the beginning!! just enjoy it 😭, intended lowercase, mentions of kissing kadaj’s forehead, lmk if i missed anything!!

“cloud,” your voice only a faint whisper as you called out to the blond, “what did you do?” he lifted his head, his skin glossier with the droplets of rain falling on his face. his eyes widened at the sight of you, chest still rising and lowering rapidly as he recovered from his battle with sephiroth. how foreign that name felt on your tongue, now.
you got up from your hiding spot beyond the debris, knees aching from how long you were crouched as your feet slammed against the flat surface of the floor. you watched as your kadaj’s catlike slits for pupils— pupils that constantly reminded you that he was still apart of sephiroth, despite his role as being only a remnant of your lover— flickered towards you with whatever energy he had left. the corner of kadaj’s lips quirked upwards ever the slightest as you rushed over him, cloud moving out of your way as he stood up.
cloud’s words, albeit firm, lay dormant in your brain, “he was going to kill me—kill us all.” and even with his sharp tone, you didn’t pay him any mind. the only thing you could focus on was kadaj’s eyes trained on yours, scoffing as he rasped out, “such— a drama.. queen.” you softly shushed him, watching as his eyes became emptier by the minute. your throat stung as a choked sob threatened to escape its enclosure behind your uvula. kadaj lifted his hand only for you to grasp it, moist leather clutched in your palm as you placed it back to his chest. he intertwined your fingers, a wince leaving his lips as you held his head up.
it took everything not to look away from him. his hair, his eyes, even the way he smelled, reminded you of sephiroth. sometimes, you wish it had been different. you wish you would’ve been there when it had happened, and even now, your memory’s fuzzy of the events. all you remember was the day sephiroth left you, and you haven’t stop thinking about him since. you wished he had come to you, and apart of you was angry. maybe you were angry that he left you with no word, or maybe angry that instead of opening up to you, he decides to burn a village down in his spiral, or maybe you weren’t angry at all.
you paused, taking another look at kadaj’s furrowed eyebrows and his lidded eyes. you wonder if this is how sephiroth felt upon his notice of who he really was— what he really was. he was only in his twenties when it happened, you couldn’t have imagined how he felt. you remembered; his friends, gone and turned against shinra, and with all the pressure on him about the cover-up, you thought that maybe it wasn’t entirely his fault. you realized now, that you can’t get what you want from this world without taking it yourself. saying please didn’t scratch the itch in the back of your throat the way that anger did, and you assumed sephiroth felt the same.
clasping kadaj’s hand, he let out a weak sigh. you let your hand, although shaky and so weak that you can’t make a fist, card a piece of his hair out his face; your heart ached at your hands in his silver hair, mind racing back to when you’d brush sephiroth’s hair for him. a true honor, you’d always call it.
the way kadaj’s eyes widened and his ears perked up made you pause, like he was listening for something. even with cloud’s tense presence behind you, you refused to let go of the part of sephiroth, your part of sephiroth. the only part you had of him left. you couldn’t be angry at cloud. he was only doing what he thought was best— and in the end, maybe it was for the best, you thought. you couldn’t even be angry at yourself, your mind only clouded with grief as your sniffles and teary sighs filled the air.
the sound of kadaj’s arm moving, leather rubbing against itself, interrupted your soft cries as he lifted his hand up to the sky. a soft whisper of, “mother—?” left his lips.
your hand snaked up and you rubbed your thumb against his cheek, watching as he turned his head towards you slowly. a teary sound left your lips, you weren’t even sure if it was a sob or a laugh. but you leaned down, pressing one last kiss to his forehead as his eyelashes fluttered, just the way sephiroth’s did when you’d lay with him in the morning where golden rays would seep through the curtains and shine onto your beloved.
all good things must come to an end, you realized, as you watched the only physical evidence that sephiroth had coexisted with you fade into the lifestream, his arm fading into reduced crystallized mako. you closed your eyes, shoulders heaving as you tried stifling your thick cries; after all, cloud was still behind you. you held onto kadaj’s hand until it was no more, his body being lifted up and vanishing although you couldn’t bear to watch it. and you didn’t open your eyes, not for a long while, in hopes that maybe you’d be back in the comfort of your home as you heard heavy footsteps trail behind you to the kitchen, sephiroth’s content face across from yours at the dinner table. and you didn’t open your eyes until you heard a low hum, beyond the loud sounds of the rain hitting the concrete, beyond your own shaking breaths. this couldn’t have been cloud, you thought. your head lifted up and squinted so as to not get any rain in your eyes.
and there he was— or more so a faded version of him. even in the rain, you couldn’t help but gawk at him in awe, his hair flowing so gracefully even in the humidity of the rain. even if you were dreaming, you’d wish you would never wake in hopes of spending one last minute with the one you held dearest to your heart. one last moment with sephiroth and you’d feel like you’d finally be complete.
his eyes, still sleek and catlike how you always remembered, almost look amused. he held a smile at you, his head cocking at the sight. you didn’t want to think of the possibility that this was just a hallucination of your grief. this was more than that. sephiroth was more than that.
he gave you a nod, a nod of which you didn’t understand. ever so esoteric, you thought. the way he always was after nibelheim. you sat back on your haunches, your knees still against the wet, cold floor— taking one last look at sephiroth before he turned around. his head tipped back, fingers twitching as he let himself face the sky, until he finally let himself go and faded away as well.
your lip trembled, a teary laugh releasing itself from your throat until cloud put a soft, awkward hand on your shoulder. head turning to face him, your eyes met his. you realized now that cloud did what was best, and you couldn’t possibly blame him for that.
he cleared his throat, almost cautiously as if you’d snap at him for interrupting the silence, “we have to go. i’m sure tifa’s waiting for us.”
you sniffled, wiping your eyes from both the rain and the tears that littered your cheeks. looking back down at your lap, once where kadaj laid, you were met with emptiness. closing your eyes once more, you inhaled and let the air fill your lungs. the first deep breath of air that you’ve taken in what feels like years, one that felt fresher— almost bittersweet. and when you turned back to cloud, you gave him a firm nod.
the urge to be changed is not metamorphosis, you realized. you can’t be changed without making a change of your own.

Honestly this is more of a prompt than a true request. But, imagine baking bread with Sephiroth(s) and the kids. Family baking time is always cute.
Tumblr media
Yes, but I'd imagine with five kids (and counting🤭), said baking time can get quite chaotic with Fluffy Sephiroth.
Tumblr media
You sat on your yoga ball, trying to ease your pregnancy pains. Although you hoped for a peaceful break, you couldn't bear leaving your poor husband alone any longer with everyone else, especially your youngest wild child, Lucy.
"Kadaj, that's too much flour!" Sephiroth said.
"You're not adding enough, father! I'm adding more!" Kadaj said.
"No, it'd be too much! And Loz, stop eating the raw batter!" Sephiroth's slit eyes quickly scanned the kitchen. "...Where is Yazoo?"
Meanwhile, Angealica, your eldest daughter, sprinted around desperately. She was trying to intercept Lucy before she could enter the kitchen and further stress Sephiroth.
"Put this apron on!" Angealica shouted, but Lucy just giggled at her. While it may have seemed like a game to Lucy, it was anything but for poor Angealica, who always did her best to help maintain order in the household.
Yazoo approached you from behind and relaxed his head on your shoulder, just as Sephiroth would do in his moments of stress or laziness.
"Mother, I don't want to bake bread without you... Kadaj doesn't know what he's doing, Loz keeps eating the batter, and Father has no control," He quietly pouted, mumbling into your skin. You reached a hand backwards and petted his head.
"Don't worry, sweetie," you reassured, "Mommy is just taking a short break. Everything will be better in a little bit..." In response, a satisfied purr could be heard coming from him. Smiling, you rose from your yoga ball and led him to the kitchen. Along the way, you interrupted Lucy during her antics and took the apron from Angealica, carefully wrapping it around Lucy as she squirmed in your grasp. She playfully growled at you and gave your cheek a tiny chomp. You giggled, chomping her right back, and then ruffling her hair. When you reached the kitchen, you put your hands on your hips, watching Kadaj and Sephiroth debate with each other over the bread recipe.
"That's why you bake it the first time and make adjustments for the second!" you said, planting a quick kiss on your silver kitten husband's lips and while gently pinching Kadaj's cheeks. Next, you softly took the raw batter from Loz, booped his nose, and tied your own apron. Finally, it seemed order was restored at last. Your family fell silent and watchful, closing in around you. You let out a relaxed sigh and started going over the fundamentals of breaking bread again.

The easiest way I can explain the Remnants to anyone that does not know every God forsaken detail about FF7:
Accurate Explanation: Imagine asking three of your closest friends to completely recreate you from your personality to your physical appearance. Each one is going to focus on different traits you have, but none of these three creations will be completely accurate.
The one thing all three of the yous have in common is your one life goal. Most of us don't have a God complex so it's more difficult to grasp that understanding.
Inaccurate Explanation: Sephiroth's last 3 brain cells.

Someone mentioned the remnants being Sephiroth’s last remaining brain cells. Made some low effort edits to MS paint reaction memes as a result.
Prompt that inspired me to make the edits lmao: Kadaj is gnawing on someone’s ankles, Loz sitting in the corner sobbing his eyes out and Yazoo is just standing there, disheveled, staring off into space

FUCK YOU domestic Remnants of Sephiroth + AC fam headcanons
After being brought into the household by a very disgruntled Cloud and a Mom Instinct Tifa, the Remnants were quickly indoctrinated into their funky found family.
Their first few days were spent shopping for new clothes, accessories, furniture, and other various goodies for their room
Speaking of their room, they all share a single room, but with three separate beds. Cloud's policy is that if they're too pissed off with each other to sleep in the same room, they can sleep on the couch.
They each have their own coffee mug. Loz's has a cat face on it. Yazoo's is one of those mugs that changes colors when a hot liquid is poured into it that looks like a battery being charged. And Kadaj's just says FUCK OFF in sparkly cursive font.
Marlene is quick to forgive and even quicker to get along with the three of them. Denzel, not so much; he's still got a big grudge over being literally mind controlled, which is fair.
Loz is the quickest to befriend everybody because he's got a big heart and is just happy to have a roof over his head. He also feels a bit bad about beating up Tifa, so he jumps on any opportunity to help her with things like cooking or carrying an obscene amount of grocery bags.
Yazoo is second for everyone to warm up to because he's quiet and polite. He mostly just sits and reads during his free time. One time, when she felt confident enough, Marlene just walked up to him and climbed into his lap. He didn't mind at all and she ended up falling asleep there.
Kadaj, as expected, took the longest to adjust. He needed a lot of time to get over his grudges and realize everything about Mother and Sephiroth was pointless. Once he did warm up, though, it was like a flip switched.
His confidence skyrocketed. He made jokes. He laughed. He was happy. Loz and Yazoo were completely unbothered, as if this was normal, but everyone else was shocked. When he was asked about it, Kadaj just shrugged and said he didn't want to waste his time pretending to be negative anymore.
He definitely still has his moments and his mood swings. But otherwise, he was content.
Now for the more fun headcanons:
Yazoo is an absolute fiend for garlic bread. Or anything garlic in general. He could kill a vampire just by standing near it.
Loz assesses everything by sniffing it first.
When they start to get along, Kadaj and Denzel start an ongoing game of punchies.
Loz forces everyone in the family to play card games with him at least once.
Yazoo is overall great with children. Any time he goes out near the local orphanage, the children flock to him with average children questions while begging to touch his hair.
Tifa and Yazoo help brush each other's hair sometimes. Tifa even puts Yazoo's hair in a little braid from time to time.
During the holidays, putting up the tree is a collective effort. At one point Kadaj climbs on Loz's shoulder to try and put the star on the top, which almost pushes the tree over and gives Cloud a heart attack.
Kadaj hangs around Cloud when he's working on Fenrir and is often forced to fetch tools or hold flashlights for him.
The remnants all go with Cloud whenever he visits the church so that they can thank Aerith for giving them another chance.
When the rest of the gang visits, Loz has a blast with Cait Sith and Red XIII, Kadaj has a heated debate with Cid, and Yazoo and Vincent stand in the Antisocial Corner to quietly talk.

currently rewatching advent children for the millionth time but like
ive seen a lot of age hcs for the remnants so I'm just gonna throw mine in there.
kadaj: oldest loz & yazoo: younger twins
i mostly think this from the novellas and from what i remember: kadaj was born first and then loz and yazoo materialised at the same time a bit after. i get seeing kadaj or loz being the youngest bc of how they act, but ive always seen kadaj as the oldest. i also think its a funny concept to have yazoo and loz as twins as they have completely different personalities while being bossed around by their short older brother.
i mean, theyre all like a few weeks old or smth. all small babies.

Loz's favorite parent is Cloud. Yazoo's favorite parent is Sephiroth.
Kadaj's favorite parent is whoever he hates the least that day.

What’s your favorite color? (Mine’s Magenta)
I've never thought about what my favorite color is... I'd say black, but I know people would talk my ear off about black not being a real color. So, I'd say I find myself drawn to dark blue. Magenta... What a specific name for a color. That reminds me of when Yazoo referred to a piece of clothing as "blood orange." He's so pretentious. 'Blood orange.' It's fucking red.

The reunion at hand may bring us joy. Pt 1
Pairing: "Fluffy" Sephiroth/Pregnant Darling
A wee distant prequel in the alternate Domestic AU, back when Darling was still on the run from Yandere Sephiroth with the boys.
Tumblr media
You gently touched your slightly swollen belly, shaking your head as you looked at yourself in the bathroom mirror. There was no denying it now - you were pregnant with your fourth child. This revelation shouldn't have come as a surprise. Something had to result out of those nightly sessions you had with Sephiroth months ago.
Yet with the familiar symptoms and signs, you had acted like nothing was different since you and the boys went on the run. Now that your baby bump had begun to form, ignoring your greatest worry was no longer an option. You covered your eyes and let out a soft sob as you anxiously deliberated your next steps.
You could should be able to handle this one. After all, ten years ago, you had been pregnant with triplets. One more child in the picture was no problem.
But you couldn't even bring yourself to explain to your precious boys why you all had to leave that fateful day. The horrifying atrocities and the monster their father had become were things they shouldn't and couldn't comprehend. So how the hell could you explain to them that you're pregnant while being on a special mother-sons expedition, celebrating your degradation mysteriously curing itself? The boys were already concerned when you had bouts of morning sickness, but you diverted their attention by promising to take them to the Gold Saucer, since they had begged to visit it during the journey in Corel.
They're smart like Sephiroth, though. You won't be able to hide this from them for long. Maybe you could tell them at the amusement park during a quiet moment? You pulled your wool sweater down and slipped your black jacket on for even more cover. It's bad enough being an ex-SOLDIER on the run with three kids. No need to make it obvious that you're a pregnant ex-SOLDIER on the run with three kids.
When you were about to leave the restroom, you heard a groan of distress from behind. You turned around and came face to face with a woman dressed in tattered black robes. She looked to be on the edge of death. Her lifeless, baggy eyes, sickly complexion, and brittle hair nearly sent you into a panic. She looked like you when your degradation was at its worst. She stumbled towards you, losing her balance. You immediately reached out and caught her, allowing her to rest her head on your shoulder.
"Miss... are you okay?" you whispered. You couldn't resist the instinctive desire to hold her tightly, as if she were a precious jewel for safekeeping. Perhaps it was your natural empathy and decency for a fellow human. Or it's just your pathetic projection.
You tried to support her upright, but in a swift second, the woman summoned all her strength to push you against the bathroom wall, her small form transforming into the towering visage of your dear husband, Sephiroth.
In slow, robotic movement, he lifted his head from your shoulder. You could feel his soft, silver tresses sliding over the fabric of your jacket as his gaze met yours. His slit pupils were devoid of the soft, almost-catlike gaze he usually wore. Instead, there was only the stare of a snake watching its prey.
He cupped your chin. "You dare to run away? With my children? After all I've done for you. For them," he hissed. You couldn't respond. Were you already beginning to lose your mind? How did he know your location? How is here? As he caught the flicker of fear and shock in your eyes, his slit pupils constricted. He then smirked and slid his gloved hand down your body, opening the jacket and lifting the wool sweater to expose your slightly swollen belly.
"I will reclaim what's mine," he declared, his gloved hand resting on your belly. These were his final words before the robbed woman retook her place. She groaned in your ear once again. A nurse burst into the room and quickly approached the two of you. She pulled the robbed woman away from you.
"Excuse her. She's not feeling well because of the mako poisoning!" the nurse hastily explained to you, shortly lecturing the robbed woman afterwards. You stifled a gasp at them before fast walking out of the restroom. Your gaze darted up and down the streets, clutching your bag close to you.
Fuck. Fuck. The boys. Where are they!? You all can't afford to stick around much longer. But you don't see them anywhere! They should've been here, waiting outside of the bathroom as you ordered. Your panic increased tenfold when you rushed down the dusty road, seeing the bodies of dead Shinra grunts scattered about. You forced your head to keep looking forward, not even noticing the black feathers on some bodies.
Time passed slowly until you found a platform with a gondola, hoping your boys were near since you quietly searched everywhere else. You then heard the familiar whisper of Kadaj calling out to you from behind.
"Mother, we're over here!" He said. They were hiding in small bins, with a white lid over their heads nearby an abandoned clinc.
"What happened?" You asked.
"We don't know... Those men were running after us, so we hid in these bins when they lost sight of us," Yazoo explained. The three came out, their hair and clothing a bit rustled, but no signs of physical injury. But their eyes said it all. They were shaken. Afraid. All supposedly under your watch. Poor Loz was crying silently, keeping his hand over his mouth to keep quiet. You ruffled his hair, giving him an apologetic gaze.
The three hugged boys hugged you tightly, afraid to let you go. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't left you three alone..." You said. Kadaj lifted his head, about to say something before the sight of your uncovered pregnant belly caught his attention. The other two followed after, their fearful gaze turning into utter confusion and curiosity.
Shit. Of course you didn't bother to fix yourself up after that bathroom encounter with Sephiroth. "Boys... I-"
"They can't be far! Split up and search the alleys!" a voice from a distance ranged out, with a tone you recognized to certainly belong to a grunt captain. With quick thinking, you ushered the boys into the nearby gondola and closed the door.
"We'll discuss this later. Just stay quiet for Mother please..." you uttered, maneuvering to the controls. Your sweet triplet boys nodded, immediately sitting down and observing you silently. Thank the planet that they knew when to get serious and follow directions. But alas, mayhap this be evidence of them growing up too fast. Any other child at their age would still be shaken, frantically asking questions, begging for assurance. Just how much more horrors did they witness in your absence?
You slapped the control panel in frustration, which seemed to make it work. The gondola creaked and drifted along the cable lines. You peeked out of the tinted window, seeing more Shinra troops scouting the streets. Thankfully, no one seemed focused on the gondola. You sighed in relief and wiped your forehead as you sat down, sitting opposite of the triplets.
They were still staring at you, their intense catlike pupils constricting as the silence persisted. It was too difficult for you to not think of Sephiroth at this moment. This peculiar aura was all too familiar. Each one was so so similar to him, in each and every way.
Your lips curved into a forced grin, as you leaned forward, talking in your light tone.
"You know, this itinerary of Corel told me about a very special attraction nearby." The boys broke out of their peculiar observant trance, their slit pupils now dilating in anticipation as they leaned forward themselves, meeting you with excitement.
"I-Is it the gold saucer?" Loz asked. You nodded.
"Mhmm!" I was thinking, 'Maybe we could go there sooner.' What do you boys think?" The boys collectively hollered in excitement, littering you in gratitude and requests to go to a specific attention first. You chuckled, sitting back and watching them argue with each other about who gets to where first. Good thing you got them focused on something else for now.
Though your amusement ended quickly when you spotted a black feather stuck in the window's crevice, reminding you of your duty...
Oh, why can't something be easy for once?
