If you like the Turks, you should check out the "Before Crisis" game, too. It was never released outside of Japan, but you can read summaries of the plot on the Final Fantasy Wiki or find fan translations online to get the basic gist. The current mobile game "Ever Crisis" is also planning to bring the "Before Crisis" storyline to the platform at some point, so that's really exciting for fans who love the Turks. Might be a while before that happens since they're doing the other titles right now.

I looked at the wiki a bit to check out Before Crisis.

Rufus was quite rebellious back then, right 😂 but he is always the kind of person who will do the most daring, most insane, and most dangerous plans to achieve his goals. Love that so much about him.

And here is my first attempt to draw Rufus' Before Crisis design:

So, is Rufus also Viceroy Saruff?

I know he is the benefactor for Avalanche, so it would make sense that he tried to spark more resistance through out Wutai when his dad was alive.

Rufus said that the viceroy probably would have shown if the set had money spent on it. Glenn then replies with 'rich kids do like that kind of stuff' while waving quite alot in Rufus direction.

The Kid

The request was for Reno and Rufus as single parents.

This is Rufus

The blond boy was crying, loudly. Little face red as he screamed out his displeasure. Rufus looked at the child laying in the basket. Apparently, it was his. Tseng just looked at him calmly waiting for instruction. Hands behind back as always. He seemed unphased by the child’s crying.

“And the mother?”

Tseng shook his head, “No trace.”

It could be a lie of course. The child was just shoved into Rude’s hand with a note and the person who did it. Gone in a flash. However, it could be true. The child did have the particular shade of blond the ShinRa’s seemed to have.

Of course, the child could also be his fathers.

“Mr Vice President?”

“Find him a nanny and arrange for children’s things to be brought to my home. Rhichie will be welcome in my home. Spread news that he is adopted. If my father was to find out…”

He left the sentence hanging. It didn’t need to be said, Tseng new well what his father was like.

Time seemed to stretch the lad. He was on his feet within the year running after his father. Nanny following close behind. He was laughing his head off as he carried a little Chocobo toy. Rufus however was late for a meeting.

He picked the boy up and looked at him directly in the face.

“I have to go to a meeting, I will be back in a few hours. Be good,” He put the boy down again who just laughed and waved his hands around trying to grab one of his belt loops that dragged on the floor.

The boy had no clue, Rufus was often concerned but Rhichies nanny just kept saying he’s 14 months old.

“Mr ShinRa? If you remember I have the evening off tonight,” The Nanny said stepping forward.

Rufus swore. That always caught Rhichies attention. Could he ask the Turks again to watch him? Last time he found Reno and the Child gone only to find Reno had taken the kid to a Bar. No… He’d have to watch Rhichie himself.

He sighed and crouched down, “Alright. Just you and I tonight,” He said.

Rhichie poked him in the eye and laughed. How hard could this be?

There's more bottom (or submissive) Rufus in the reader-insert side of the fandom than in the ships and that's surprising. And a little disappointing
