Jack had known her gender for a long time, really, it just came with the territory of being undying. Live for so long and you figure out a lot about yourself. Of course there was the issue of not being able to get the proper surgery to show how she identifies, but she can get that fixed in a few years.

But, for the moment she turned her attention to the frankly, stunning woman next to her. Martha Jones.

Raising a hand Jack carded it through Martha's hair as the woman in question buried herself further into Jack's arms. Letting out sounds of displeasure from being woken up, chuckling she makes some humming sounds to take Martha back to sleep.

Pulling the blankets over them some more Jack lets her thoughts go and drifts off to sleep.

Y/N WAS CERTAINLY NOT PROUD OF WHAT SHE DID, BUT SHE COULDN’T LIE TO HERSELF, SHE DID NOT REGRET IT. Did that make her a bad person? Probably, and maybe that’s why karma got her, because sneaking around with someone’s boyfriend—even if it that someone was Betty, whom Y/N absolutely despised—had been a dick move, and she knew it all too well. But then again, Ethan’s puppy brown eyes had been like a trap. A trap she had fallen for unexpectedly and deeply.

Ethan Landry was the captain of the Blackmore Hockey Team—which Y/N’s brother, Drew, was a part of—, and Blackmore University’s golden boy. He was beyond untouchable, and taken by the captain of the cheerleader squad: Betty Harkness. They were the perfect couple on papers, but everyone knew they didn’t get along very well, and that they broke up and made up back and forth.

Everyone wanted Ethan—he was gorgeous, confident, hilarious, kind, athletic and pretty much every positive adjective you could find. But Y/N always saw him as Drew’s friend and Ethan always saw her as Drew’s little sister (although she was only a few months younger than them). Until one action completely changed the course of their lives.

“Eth? Are you on your way to hockey practice?” Y/N pulled up her car when he saw the tall boy walking on the sidewalk, hockey stick over his broad shoulder.

“Y/N! Yes. My car broke down, and now I have to walk” Ethan said, scrunching his nose.

“Get in the car, dumbass. I’ll drive you” she said, opening the shotgun door.

“Are you sure? Aren’t you heading somewhere else?”

“No, actually I was going to see the practice too. My best friend left to visit some relatives, so I have no plans. Drew invited me to the practice when he saw me mopping around the house”

Ethan laughed, and got into the car “You’re a life saver. But hey, does that mean you have to spend your whole summer all alone? That’s awful”

Y/N shook her head “Only a week and a half. Now I kinda wish I had more friends, although staying at home watching rom-coms doesn’t sound that bad”

“God, you depress me” Ethan groaned.

“Sorry Mr. So Popular I Get Invited To Every Party” she teased him.

“You could get invited to parties too, if you didn’t have that bitchy face whenever someone approaches you with an invitation” Ethan said, trying to contain a smile.

“I do that?” she asked, genuinely surprised.

Ethan raised his eyebrows “You don’t do that on purpose?”

“No! I mean, I would take the invitation even though parties aren’t my thing and will probably not go”

“Why? Because you’re not like other girls?” he joked.

Y/N scoffed “No, you dick. I get anxious around big crowds, especially intoxicated crowds” she explained.

“Oh… now I do feel like a dick”

The girl sent him a reassuring smile “It’s okay”

“You know, this is the first time we talk without Drew around” Ethan said.

“You’re right. What’s your veredict? Am I better company than my brother?” she asked, playful smile on her lips.

“Oh, most definitely” he said mirroring her smile “Jokes aside, you’re actually fun to be around”

“You doubted that?? What a wrong thing to assume from someone who was the authority to kick you out of her car” Y/N tried to keep a serious expression, but Ethan’s laugh ruined it.

“True, true. I’m sorry I ever doubted you, Y/N/N. Please don’t leave me stranded” Ethan said, putting his palms together and looking at her with his deep brown eyes.

Had he always had those cute puppy eyes? And holy shit was he handsome, and charming. How did that go past her all this time?

Y/N did an exaggerated sigh “Fine, I guess I am feeling a little kind-hearted today, so I’ll give you a pass”

“Oh, thank you, benevolent Y/N” he said, and then both bursted out laughing.

Ethan sneaked out glances at her throughout the rest of the ride, wondering how he had never noticed how funny and gorgeous she was. And had she always had that shiny smile?

ETHAN WOULD ABSOLUTELY HATE THE MOVIE IF THE SIGHT OF Y/N’S EXCITED FACE WASN’T SO GODDAMN HEART WARMING. Ethan didn’t know what was going on with him, but he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her ever since the drive—which was a week ago. He yearned for her sarcastic remarks and funny comebacks. He found himself going to Drew’s house more often just to catch a small glimpse of the gorgeous girl, who would smile brightly at him when she caught him staring.

Yes, they were definitely flirting. And he felt like he was fifteen again having his first crush. But the attraction was obviously mutual, so he didn’t hesitate to make a move.

“How many times have you watched this movie again?” Ethan whispered in her ear, and she felt goosebumps all over her body. How could a voice be that sexy?

“Like… ten times? I don’t know. Why? Am I reciting the lines too much?” she asked embarrassed.

Ethan bit his lip softly, his heart not taking her cuteness “No, just wondering if you could miss five minutes of it”.

“Why?”

“Because I want to kiss you”

“But I wanna keep on watching Robert” she teased as she got closer to the tall boy.

“You’re seriously talking about another guy while I am one second away from kissing the fuck out of you?”

Y/N shrugged “Deal with it”

The arm rest was stabbing her ribcage but Y/N didn’t care about anything else other than that intoxicating kiss. She didn’t feel anything but the heat of his touch on her waist, on her jaw, on her neck—everywhere. And Ethan didn’t care about anything else but her soft lips, the feel of her fingers on his hair, the little whimpers she was making as his tongue explored her mouth.

“Now that I think about it, I can miss the rest of the movie” she spoke against his lips.

Ethan smirked “My house?” Y/N nodded eagerly.

THE SILKY SHEETS FELT SOFT AGAINST HER NAKED SKIN AND THE WARMTH OF ETHAN’S BODY MADE HER WANT TO NEVER GET UP. But it was practice day, so Ethan’s alarm went off, and they both groaned. The night had been amazing, after whispers of ‘are you sure?’ and ‘never have i ever before’, they ended up twisted in his bedsheets and the memory of the passionate rounds were the first thing that came to their minds as they woke up.

“We need to get up, Eth. You have practice” Y/N said as the sleepy boy pulled her towards him.

“But you look so pretty beneath the sun and in my sheets” he whispered, kissing her collarbone.

Y/N blushed “Come on, we have to go”

“We? Are you coming to the practice?” Ethan said excitedly.

Y/N nodded “If that’s okay”

“Yes! Prepare to be left enchanted by my hockey skills”

“I’ve seen you play hundreds of times, Eth” she laughed. “I know you’re fantastic”

“I will dedicate every score to you” he kissed her softly.

“Wow, I’m so excited and honoured” Y/N said in a high-pitched voiced.

“You’re so mean” Ethan laughed. “By the way… are you feeling okay? Aren’t first times painful?”

“Well, my legs feel a little bit weird, but I’m okay. Thank you” Y/N smiled sweetly, and he pressed his lips to her temple.

Was it too soon to say she had, maybe, fallen for him? Could he possibly feel the same? Y/N could only hope it wasn’t just a summer thing for him, because she certainly knew it wouldn’t be for her.

AUGUST HAD SIPPED AWAY LIKE A BOTTLE OF WINE AND SOON CLASSES STARTED AGAIN. And the feeling of anxiety filled Y/N’s chest. What would happen now? Would Ethan break up with Betty or was he going to let the memories of august slip away into just a moment in time? They had never talked about it, they just enjoyed their moments together.

“Well, well, she’s alive! Who would’ve thought?” the voice of Willow, her best friend, filled her ears.

“Hi, my gorgeous beautiful pretty friend” Y/N said with a guilty smile as she approached her.

“No, no. There’s not enough adjectives in the world to remediate the fact that you cancelled our plans all summer” Willow crossed her arms in front of her chest.

“I’m sorry… I need to confess something”

Willow raised her eyebrows “I’m hearing”

“Promise not to freak out? It’s important that you stay calm, we’re in the hallway”

“I promise”

“I’ve been seeing someone during the summer” she whispered.

Willow’s eyes almost popped out of her face “Holy shit! Who?”

“Remember your promise, okay?” Y/N reminded her, and she nodded impatiently. “Ethan”.

Willow didn’t scream, or gasp, or choked in surprise. She laughed. “Oh my god, imagine!” wow, was it that unbelievable? Y/N stared at her with a serious expression and soon Willow realized it wasn’t a joke. “Are you fucking kidding me, Y/N/N? Are we talking about Ethan Landry? Captain of the team? Your brother’s friend? Mr. Popular? Betty Harnkness’ boyfriend?”

“Yes, Willow. Congratulations, you know him!”

“Don’t use that tone with me right now! Y/N he has a girlfriend”

Y/N sighed “I know, okay? And I feel a little bad. But it’s too late, okay? It’s done”

“A little bad?” Willow repeated, trying not to laugh.

“Well, it is Betty we are talking about. And are they really into each other or is just for social status?”

“Yeah… what is going to happen? Are him and Betty over? Are you two dating?”

“I don’t know, I don’t know and no” she answered. “We haven’t talked about it”

“I bet you didn’t talk at all” Willow smirked.

“Actually… we did. I mean, we did have fun doing… physical stuff but we also talked a lot” Y/N said with a smile “He’s so amazing, Willow. He’s so easy to talk to, he’s funny, sweet, laughs at my jokes, takes care of me, compliments me every chance he has, he’s an amazing kisser… he dedicated me every single score he did when he played. It was so sweet”

“Holy shit, Y/N you really fell for him”

“I know” you could almost see the sparks radiating off her.

“Well, lover girl. Let’s go to class, and then you’ll tell me all the details”

And as they walked through the hallway they caught sight of Ethan’s group. Against the lockers were Drew, Julian, Chad, Tara, Mindy, Anika, Betty and Ethan, whose arms was draped around Betty’s waist.

Y/N felt her surroundings get frozen, a knot appeared on her throat and she was pretty sure she was about to cry. Just like that, every hope and excitement left inside her turned into ashes. She wanted to keep walking, but her feet were glued to the floor.

“Fuck, Y/N/N” Willow whispered, as she saw what had left her best friend in such state “Let’s keep walking” she grabbed her friend’s hand and started to guide her towards the classroom.

But to do that, they had to walk past the group. The two friends set their eyes on their goal—the classroom—praying they wouldn’t notice them.

“Y/N/N!” shit no, no no. Willow squeezed her friend‘s hand tightly as they heard Drew calling her. She had no choice.

“It’s okay, I’m here” Willow whispered as they dragged their feet towards them.

“Hi” they said, Willow’s tone was dry while Y/N’s was just low and unstable.

“Hey, just wanted to give you these” Drew said, handing her two tickets. “For the hockey match this weekend. You are going, right?”

“I don’t know. Willow and I have plans” Y/N said, only looking at Drew.

“But it’s our last match. And we’re pretty confident we’re winning, with our star player right here” Drew said, patting Ethan’s arm. The boy laughed, and Y/N felt her heart clench at the beautiful sound.

“Yeah, Y/N/N come on. You enjoy hockey” his voice addressing her did nothing but make her want to cry in the spot. Was he mocking her? Y/N didn’t look at him, and Willow threw him a dirty glance.

“Y/N’s thing is to stay home with her lame romantic comedies” Betty’s annoying voice said.

“Shut up, Betty” Tara said harshly.

“Please? I really want you there” Drew told her.

How could she say no? She loved her brother “Okay, okay. We will be there” she faked a smiled so he won’t see how miserable she was feeling.

But he was her brother, and knew her like the back of his hand “Hey, what’s wrong?” he grabbed his sister by the cheeks, eyes reflecting how worried he was.

“Nothing” god she felt so pathetic. It was now obvious she was about to cry. And she was doing it in front of her brother’s friends, the boy who broke her heart and his girlfriend “I need to go to class, see you later”.

By the end of the day, Y/N felt absolutely defeated. Her energy was drained, the knot on her throat didn’t want to go away and her mind was making fun of her by replaying the memories of her summer love thing with Ethan. But as if God took pity on her, the last class of the day got suspended so she got to go home early.

But apparently it was the Let’s Make Y/N Feel Like Shit day, because Ethan had been waiting for her in the hood of her car, with his perfect mullet hair and his hockey jersey that looked absolutely amazing on him. She had no escape.

“What the fuck are you doing?” she spoke. Now she felt furious, how dare he show his face after that morning?

“I needed to talk to you” Ethan said in a soft voice.

“I have things to do. So, I’m really sorry, but not right now”

“By ‘things’ do you mean go home, make cookies and watch 10 things I hate about you?” he asked with a knowing smile.

“Don’t act as if you knew me” she spitted in anger.

The smile fell from his face “I do know you, Y/N/N”

“Well then, you might’ve realized that I don’t want to talk to you at all” she said, trying not to let the tears fall. Why was he there? Wasn’t the pain he put on her that morning enough?

“Please… I- I need to explain what happened. It’s not what it looked like” Ethan said.

“So, you’re telling me that you actually broke up with Betty?” she asked, already knowing what the answer would be. Ethan sighed and shook his head no. “Then it was exactly what it looked like. And you even had the audacity to mock me!”

“What?! I didn’t mock you” Ethan said truthfully.

“Y/N/N come on. You enjoy hockey” she imitated his voice. “You were mocking me. You know I don’t care about hockey, I just cared about seeing you and my brother”

“I- god yes, it sounded bad. But I swear I didn’t mean it like that. It was my way of telling you everything was okay”

“What the fuck?!” she laughed dryly “Nothing is okay, Ethan! You are still with her. And I know we didn’t state you were breaking up with her to be with me, but I just thought… I thought you would do it. That we had something going on. I thought it was more than a summer thing”.

“It was more than that, I promise. It was so much more than a summer thing. I’ve never felt something so strong towards someone”

“Then why are you still with her?”

“I… don’t know. I just-she saw me and everyone was watching us… I couldn’t break up with her. I’m sorry. With the match coming up, I didn’t want to add any unnecessary drama… I just thought it wasn’t the right time to break up”

“Unnecessary drama? The match? Are you fucking serious? It didn’t cross your mind how would I feel when I saw you with your arms around her? Well, in case you were wondering it was fucking devastating. I was just telling Willow what an amazing guy you are… how in love I am with you. And then I saw you two… it sucked, Ethan. So I’m sorry if your apologies aren’t enough. Now I need to go”

“How in love I am with you” were the words that resonated on Ethan’s head as he watched Y/N drive away. She was in love with him, and he was very much in love with her too, but he wrecked everything.

“Hey, man. What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Drew found him in the empty hallway.

“I screwed it up, Drew. I hurt her”

“What’s are you talking about?” but Ethan did nothing but sob with his head in his hands. “It’s okay, man. Just breathe, just relax, it’ll be okay”

But Ethan didn’t know if it was going to be okay. He cursed for having been so careless with the relationship, for having though that wanting would be enough. It wasn’t. He should’ve been clear with Betty. His top priority should’ve been Y/N, not Betty nor the hockey match. He ruined it, but he was going to do everything in his power to make it up to her. He was determined to win back the girl he loved.

SUMMARY : the doctor isn't too pleased with his companion's new friend. Donna gets inlvoved in some overdue matchmaking.

The Doctor's list of regrets is endless. He's said things he didn't mean. Treated people in ways he shouldn't have. Taken part is stuff he doesn't even allow himself to think about. But the newest addition to the list, by far, is his most regretful of them all.

He introduced y/n to Jack Harkness.

In his defense, there really wasn't any way of avoiding it. When using the rift to refuel the TARDIS's engines, he spotted the familiar coated figure of the Captain sprinting towards his ship. Following his past actions, he quickly rushed towards the console and started his ship, sending his faithful companions, Donna and y/n, flying across the room; completely unaware of the hijacker clinging onto the outside as they hurtled through the vortex.

When they landed at their next adventure, y/n immediately spotted Jack on his back in an awkward position on the floor.

"Doctor!" she yelled, making him and Donna rush towards them. Donna gasped as The Doctor rolled his eyes.

"Not again." He moaned.

Donna and y/n looked at him in shock.

"You mean to say this has happened before?!" Donna exclaimed. "How many free passengers have done this?"

"Just him," The Doctor said, running his hand through his hair. "I think he's the only one who'd dare. The only one who could survive."

Y/n had been monitoring the muscled man, checking for consciousness and life signs yet not finding any. She looked up solemnly, "Doctor, I'm so sorry. But I can't find a heartb-"

She was inturpted by a strong intake of breath as the man sat up, her and Donna screaming. "I knew I shouldn't have skipped first aid class!"

Jack looked around, eyes catching the kneeling woman beside him and he lifted a finger to her chin, making their eyes lock and a blush take over her cheeks. "Hello." He smirked.

"Stop it!" The Doctor frowned, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I really don't mind." Y/n smiled shyly.

The Doctor was used to this. Jack flirting with every living thing but for some reason it irked him more than ever. Donna nudged his shoulder, a small smirk on her face, causing the timelord to scoff. "You not gonna introduce us?" She said, somewhat smugly.

Begrudgingly, he pointed to members of the group. "Jack, this is my friend, Donna. She travels with me. Donna, this is Jack. He used to travel with me. Now he runs a Torchwood in Cardif." They smiled at each other in greeting before Jack raised his eyebrows and watched the woman who had her arms wrapped around him for support.

"Are you not going to introduce me to this beautiful woman?" Jack asked, fingers brushing the young lady's heated face.

The Doctor sniffed, eyes avoiding the two on the ground and the snickering redhead to his side. "Jack, this is y/n, my...friend."

"Y/n," Jack began, smiling with his bluest eyes. "gorgeous name for a gorgeous lady."

And that's when it began.

Since then, the two had been inseperable. Always close to the other, always laughing or playfully bickering. And quite honestly, the Doctor hated it.

There had been an unfamiliar distance between him and y/n since Jack re-entered his life and stole his friend from him. He was quickly growing resentful.

From a distance, he heard the common occurrence of Jack and his companion's laughter, his frown deepening into a scowl as he hit a button on the console.

Donna noticed and slowly stalked towards him, watching as he slumped back into the pilot seat, eyes distanced and distracted.

"Oh, c'mon, Spaceman," She began, red hair cascading her face as her right hand was holding a hairbrush she was previously using. "What's up with you?"

"Nothing." he sulked.

"Oh, come off it. You've been a right miserable git these past few days. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out the reasonings behind your sour mood." She rolled her eyes, walking back to the mirror she had been using to comb her hair prior to starting the conversation.

"How'd you mean?"

"Well, since y/n and Casanova over there met," She pointed into the hallway leading into the kitchen. "You've been sulking all over the shop."

"Donna, I have no idea what you're talking about." He denied, still not meeting her eyes.

"Lay off it. You're jealous."

"I am not-" he began but quickly halted when his voice had unnaturally raised a few octaves. "I am not jealous."

"Yeah, okay." Donna rolled her eyes, setting the brush down while abandoning the mirror.

"I'm not!" He exclaimed.

"I'm agreeing with you!"

"Mhm" He stood up, pressing a few more buttons, ignoring the ginger as she sat in his previously acclaimed seat. "Good."

A silence took over them as Donna stared at her hand, thinking about having y/n give her nails a touch up. "So.." She began, treading on water. "If you're not jealous, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that y/n and Jack are thinking on going on a date."

"What?" He frowned, jaw clenching.

"Yeah, that's what they asked me to come and tell you. Will you take them to a romantic planet. Maybe somewhere with a restaurant? Pretty lights. Jack wants it to be special for her." As she spoke, she hopped from the seat and walked to the exit of the room, allowing her voice to travel with her, leaving a glum doctor standing alone by his console with his thoughts racing.

Later that day, y/n jogged into the kitchen, dressed in pajamas with her hair tied back. She smiled, finding the doctor eating a banana as he leaned on the counter. "Hello, Doc!"

His eyes lit up at the voice he found himself missing. He chucked the remains of his fruit into the bin, smiling at his companion. "Hi."

"Donna told me to ask you about 'the trip.' She's been banging on about it! Says I need to dress fancy. Jack's already picking out his suit."

His mind thought back to the conversation he had with Donna earlier that day and a frown engraved itself onto his face. "Oh, right."

Feeling an uncomfortable atmosphere creep its way into the room, she opened the cupboard and searched for her supply of jaffa cakes the TARDIS had gratefully given her.

The Doctor watched, a small smile growing on the corner of his lips. The TARDIS really liked y/n. It was not often his ship would offer a selection of his guest's favourite delicacies to them.

"Y/n", he said, earning a soft noise of acknowledgement from her. "Are you..Happy..here? With me?"

Y/n dropped her chocolate on the counter, rubbing her hands free of crumbs as she looked up at her Doctor. "Of course I am! What a silly question. I love it here! I love the TARDIS, I love our adventures! I love y-" her words fumbled over the others and she looked down in embarrassment.

"Are you..going to leave?" He asked, insecurities flowing out alongside his words. Y/n stepped close to him and grabbed ahold of his calloused hands.

"Of course I'm not. You're not getting rid of me, TimeBoy." She smiled. "Where's this coming from?"

The Doctor looked down at their joined hands and he squeezed them lightly, not knowing what to say to fill the quietness.

"Doctor?"

"It's just..." He sighed, finally allowing himself to meet the eyes he'd found himself getting lost in so often, he could alonost count them as a second home. "I don't want you to date him." he mumbled.

"Date?" She asked, brows furrowed in confusion. "Who's going on a date?"

The Doctor looked perplexed, mouth opening and closing with no sound escaping them. "Donna said-" His mouth closed again, face hardening. "Donna." He whispered, rolling his eyes at his obliviousness to his sassy friends blatant lies.

Still confused, Y/n searched his eyes for answers. "Donna said what?"

Sighing, he explained, "Donna told me that you and Jack were going on a date."

"A date? With Jack?" Y/n laughed, crinkles forming under her eyes. "I love Jack, obviously, but only as a friend." She said, still laughing until realisation hit. "Wait, but would it be so bad if Jack and I were more than friends?"

"Yes." The timelord answered so quick.

"Oh, thanks." His companion said, dropping his hands while creating some distance between the two.

Understanding his mistake, he reached forwards and took her hands again. "But only because.. because .. I don't think you're suited well."

Y/n frowned but her eyes softened at the vulnerable look on her Doctor's face. It was his turn to stumble through his words and she watched as a pink hue danced upon his freckled cheeks and tinted the tops of his ears. "Doctor, what are you trying to say?" She prodded softly.

Silence filled the room once again. His brown eyes searched his companion's face but found no signs of mutual feelings. Her face had remained unchanged, no words leaving her lips. He searched her eyes, so used to being able to read everything she was feeling just by looking into them, though he again found nothing.

He started rambling, tripping over his words. "I'm so sorry, just forget I said anything, it doesn't matter." His hand tried to slip out of hers so he could exist the room, but she clung on firmer, not allowing him to move. "Really, y/n, I'm so sorry, just for-"

Suddenly he felt her soft lips on his. He let out a noise of startled surprise before it registered that she was kissing him. The dream he had dreamt a million times had became a reality. His mind sprung into action quickly, and he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in closer and deepening the kiss. His free hand reached up and stroked her cheek as their mouths moulded together perfectly.

She truly was made for him.

Breaking away, the doctor pressed his forhead to hers, lips barely distanced, both of them panting. She reached up and ran a hand through his gelled hair, before bringing it down and stroking his neck.

Both of their lips were plumped from the kiss, and she bit into hers before talking. "Doctor, I am just as equally as in love with you."

A massive smile broke onto his kissed lips and he tugged her closer, bringing her in once again. However, they were interrupted by cheering.

They turned their heads slowly, looking at the door and spotting his redheaded companion and immortal friend cheering and high-fiving, drowning in victory.

Request: I basically was just wondering if you could maybe do one with Owen Harper x reader where reader is on the Torchwood team, and one day they just seem to be really all over the place, like they're late to work while they're trying to catch a creature, like a weevil or something, and then she falls behind the rest of the group and gets tired out easily, (pt 2)part 3 for the jack fic was basically just that when they're done and back at base jack shouts at the reader for acting strangely before he realises that y/n is genuinely really sick so he looks after them, makes sure they're okay and apologises for shouting at her, etc? if not its really fine :)

“What the hell was that!?” Jack yelled before you could even sit down. You knew why he was angry, and you knew he had every right to be- you’d been chasing after a Weevil, but you’d grown exhausted and stopped, leaving it to the others to try and catch up and catch it- with no luck. 

You found your way to the nearest beat down couch, throwing yourself onto it, dropping one of your arms over your face to block out the lights, though there wasn’t much you could do about Jacks’ booming voice. You knew he was angry and he understood, but right now you wanted him to just shut up and cut you some slack. 

You’d felt like crap all day. Several times you nearly went home, however you told yourself that since you hadn’t physically been sick, that you weren’t sick enough to go home, even when the others had noticed you were under the weather. Admittedly, right now you wish you had said something, informing Jack that you weren’t in best shape and ask to go home, since then you wouldn’t be getting yelled at for not keeping up, however now it was a little bit too late. “I’m sorry-”

“Sorry? Sorry doesn’t cut it, Y/N!” He yelled, storming over to you, stopping in front of the settee. “Because of you, it got away, and hell knows where it is now! Do you even care?” He yelled at you, and you tried to sit up to properly address him, until you felt a hand on your shoulder, looking up to see Owen. He silently pushed you to lay back down. 

“Jack, give them some slack, they’ve been really unwell all day, even if they tried to not say anything about it.” Owen asked of the captain. “They probably should have stayed here or gone home, but they’re too busy being a team player to put themselves first.” 

“What?” Jack asked, still huffing from his yelling fit. You slowly rolled over to your side and sat up, keeping your head down, closing your eyes as the room span, the palm of your hand absentmindedly resting on your forehead as if your head was too heavy for your neck to keep up itself. “Why didn’t you say anything?” He asked you. 

“Because I didn’t want to let you guys down!” You snapped, standing up, walking past Jack, and grabbing your coat. “I’ll go home, I’m sorry for being a burden. I won’t be back in until I’m better.” You stated before heading out the door.

Jack stood in shock, looking at the door that you’d left through, before turning back to the rest of the team, who looked rather sheepish. It was clear that they were aware you were unwell all day, which only made him feel worse since he hadn’t realised himself. “How bad have they been?” He asked. 

“I saw them fighting the urge to be sick a while ago. I tried to tell them to go home but they insisted they were fine for the time being.” Gwen answered. 

“Same.” Owen added. Jack huffed, running a hand through his hair. “Actually- I should go make sure they actually get home- in that state they’re in they’re probably running a fever and it’s cold outside-” 

“I’ll do it, call me if anything pops up.” Jack quickly dismissed, rushing out the door after you. As he came outside, he looked in all directions for any sight of you, with not much luck. He tried to remember where you actually lived, and how you said you’d get home, and with little notes in his head, he took off looking for you.

He eventually did find you. You were at a bus stop waiting for a bus, sat on one of the awkward seats, leant over, holding your head. Jack could really see it now. You looked on the brink of passing out, and he stepped in front of you mostly in fear you’d lean too far forward and fall into the road. You groggily looked up at him, seeing who it was, sighing and leaning back against the glass of the bus shelter. “Look, I’m sorry Jack. I shouldn’t have even come in today…” 

“And I’m sorry for not noticing and proceeding to yell at you for understandably not being in a position to work at your usual best.” Jack apologised just as quickly. “You know you’re an important asset to the team, but you need to look after yourself. What if the Weevil had attacked you? Or we were chasing after something else?”

“I know, I know, won’t happen again.” You assured him. 

“Good. Now come on, I’m helping you get home.” Jack told you, pulling you up to get on the approaching bus.

Jack Harkness Costume Analysis Part 2

Fem Captain Jack Harkness Costume Build

In my last post, I shared my costume breakdown of what Captain Jack Harkness wears in Doctor Who and Torchwood. In this post, I'm going to go through each piece and show what I decided to do to recreate it in my fem Jack Harkness cosplay. I bought some pieces and made the others that were more specific to Jack. 

I decided it would be fun to do this cosplay as a genderbend. Because of that, I adapted a lot of the pieces instead of trying to recreate them exactly. I decided to base most of the clothes on women's clothing from the WWII era. That's what a lot of Jack's look is intended to evoke, so that's the theme I decided to stick with. I really love how this cosplay came out and I had a great time wearing it! 

Shirt:

For the shirt, I wanted to keep the blue color and the buttons down the front, but I wanted to make it more feminine. I did a lot of searching online and eventually decided to buy this one from Unique Vintage. 

Skirt:

I went back and forth a lot about whether I should wear pants or a skirt for this cosplay. In the end I decided to go with a skirt. It's a gray skirt out of what looks like a felted wool (but isn't actually wool). It has a pretty high waist, belt loops, and pleats at the front and back. The other thing I debated a lot was the length of the skirt. I've seen a lot of fem Jack Harkness cosplays that decided to go with a much shorter skirt, but I decided to go with a skirt that went just past my knees. I figured that's closer to what a woman would have worn at the time and Jack's flirtatiousness comes more from the way he wears his clothes than how revealing the clothes themselves are. 

Shoes:

The shoes were a bit of a departure from Jack's original costume. The shoes he wears are very utilitarian. I decided to get a really cute pair of heels. I bought this pair of white and brown T-strap heels. They fit in with the rest of the costume pieces and I really love them, even if they are the worst part of the costume when you consider walking around a con floor for several hours. 

Vortex Manipulator:

The vortex manipulator is one of the pieces that I made. It's also one of the few pieces that I really didn't change from the show references. This piece went through a couple versions before I figured out something that actually worked. I figured out what different pieces I needed and made a pattern (which you can find on my Etsy shop) and cut them out from some fake leather I bought. The strap was a replacement watch strap I bought separately. The console face was made of some thin craft foam that I painted. Finally, I got a self-contained blue LED that I put behind the face to make the appropriate spots glow blue. 

Holster and Gun:

The holster I made from the same fake leather as my vortex manipulator. It's just a basic pouch with a flap with a snap over the top and a loop on the back to thread a belt through. 

I made the gun out of craft foam. It's not the cleanest looking prop, but I actually had a lot of fun making it. I looked at reference images of the actual gun and tried to make every piece out of foam. It's the kind of puzzle I really enjoy. 

Other Accessories:

The other accessories were all little things I bought. I bought a basic brown belt (although it's a bit thinner than the one Jack wears). I bought a pair of gray suspenders and added suspender buttons for them into the skirt. I also bought a cheap watch with a black face and silver markings. 

Hair and Makeup:

This was one of my first adventures in wig styling. I started with a wig from Arda. I curled it and put in victory rolls at the top. Then I decided it was too curly and uncurled most of it except the bottom. 

I kept the makeup relatively simple. I had foundation, a little blush, and some blue eye shadow. I finished it all off with bright red lipstick. 

The Greatcoat:

The coat was the biggest piece of this cosplay that I made. I had some trouble finding a pattern that I liked before it occurred to me that I was already doing a genderbend cosplay and I should look at women's coat patterns. I ended up going with Burda 6845. I made a few changes to it. I made it double breasted, I added the top back vent between the shoulder blades, added a belt and belt loops, and I added the epaulets. 

I don't think my fabric choice was perfect, but it looks fine. I used a navy blue heavy denim fabric. I think the weight works pretty well, although it doesn't really look like the wool it should, but I wish I could have found a color with more gray in it. 

I made the trim that goes onto the rank bands on the epaulets by combining light blue and black ribbons. I found buttons I really liked, but they were only in silver. I ended up painting them gold and I really like the effect. It makes them look a little more worn.
