okay so i'm in the process of writing a blog post for my site about the casting of John Lithgow in the Harry Potter TV series and the apathy that people show towards trans people by continuing to engage with Harry Potter.

i started writing a tangent about the Marauders fandom that turned into 1k words because i had a lot of thoughts about it and i think it's an interesting topic to think and write about beyond the question of the morality around still engaging with Harry Potter. i've scrapped that section because it barely fit with the rest of the post. but i'm thinking of adapting it into a piece about transmasculinity and fandom. it'll look at how transmascs interact with fandoms like the Marauders fandom and South Park, where most of the main characters are boys/young men, and there's some kind of controversy around these fandoms with regards to transphobia, particularly transmisogyny (i.e. JKR's transmisogyny and South Park's transmisogyny when it came to Mr/s Garrison and the whole trans women in sports episode). (note: that's not to label Marauders fans or South Park fans as transmisogynists or bigots). if you know of any male-centric fandoms that have a notable transmasc following, i'd love to hear your perspective on that, too.

the thing is, i don't know if i'm pulling these observations out of my ass. so, i need some input from Marauders fans mainly, but also South Park fans. i say that because i'm kind of a South Park fan and i have more experience with the South Park fandom.

so, basically, i've written some assumptions and questions, with the intention of people within the fandoms responding to them.

full disclosure, i fully respect everyone's right to engage with whatever they want, but i'm someone who's very much in the 'read another book' camp when it comes to Harry Potter. i wish people would just let it die so that JKR's relevancy takes a hit. i think that when it comes to the Marauder's fandom it's more complex, given how fan-driven it is. on the South Park end of this, i've said i'm a fan of South Park, but, yeah, i'm a Leftist so obviously i think it sucks that young people have watched it and picked up bigotry from it, and i think that some of its takes have sucked. so, i get why people disavow South Park in the same way that i disavow Harry Potter, and maybe you could call me a hypocrite for liking South Park and feeling animosity towards a lot of Harry Potter fans.

rest assured that this isn't an attack on either fandom, or an attempt to start discourse, or hostile in its intentions. i find this topic interesting, and i'm looking into it in good faith and out of genuine curiosity, as someone who is trans and has a fascination with fandom. the purpose of this post is to get some insight so that i can write an informed essay-type-thing that aims to look at this with nuance.

basically, however you feel comfortable sending in your response, do that. anything will be greatly appreciated. again, if you message me anything privately, i won't share your response without explicit permission, or i'll reference it vaguely within the piece. i won't be directly referencing people within my essay, if one can call it that, only using these responses to inform my writing and perspective. most importantly, there's no pressure to respond to every question, or at all.

for Marauders fans, my assumptions and questions are as follows (note: if i haven't been clear enough on anything, feel free to ask me what the hell i'm on about because that's fair enough):

a lot of the Marauders fandom- on Tumblr at least- is made up primarily of young, white, AFAB queer people, including trans boys/men, nonbinary people and queer girls/women.

the common interpretation for most of the characters in the fandom involves them being queer, a character of colour, plus size etc. (feel free to give examples of popular interpretations of characters).

most of the focus in the Marauders fandom is put on the male/non-female characters and their relationships (platonic or romantic) with one another. female characters and pairings are often overlooked compared to their male counterparts. (note: i'm aware that this statement could fit most fandoms)

(if you're a transmasc or AFAB nonbinary Marauders fan) you project that aspect of your identity onto the characters in some way, particularly the male characters. maybe you headcanon one or more of the characters as trans, nonbinary or gnc in a way that aligns with your own identity.

(if you're a transmasc or AFAB nonbinary Marauders fan) part of what draws you to the Marauders fandom and its characters is that they're a group of boys/young men/men. they allow you to explore masculinity and engage with a boyhood/manhood/masculine experience in a way that maybe you have missed out on and/or long for IRL. maybe you're closeted, so these characters allow you to fantasise about being a teenage boy, so there's a comfort that comes from that, especially in a world of magic. so, in essence, these characters give you an opportunity to indulge in gender things you might not be able to do or have missed out on IRL.

you completely disavow JKR and her transphobia, and you consider yourself an unabashed trans ally, or you're trans yourself. you are able to engage with the Marauders fandom because you are able to separate her from it.

you feel fully comfortable engaging with the Marauders fandom. that's because it's more detached from JKR than Harry Potter canon and the Golden Trio side of the fandom (if that's what we're still calling it; it's been a hot minute since i was into Harry Potter).

how do you engage with the Marauders fandom, consumer-wise? do you read fanfiction? do you look at fanart? do you read analysis of the characters? do you watch TikToks? do you create your own fan content?

how did you come to grow attached to the characters from the Marauders era? was it through canon Harry Potter material (books, movies) or through fan content?

do you focus solely on the Marauders era of Harry Potter? or, do you still engage with the wider Harry Potter fandom? if so, how (i.e. do you read/write fanfic, make/look at fanart, read/write analysis, read/watch the books/movies)? how, if at all, do you still engage with the Harry Potter source material (i.e. do you actively read/reread the books, watch/rewatch the movies etc.)? do you keep this engagement private, or do you post about it online in any way? do you still monetarily support the Harry Potter franchise in any way?

(if you are trans or nonbinary) do you feel any discomfort towards cis Harry Potter or Marauders fans compared to trans/nonbinary fans? do you feel that some cis fans- who aren't straight-up transphobes- tend to prioritise their enjoyment of Harry Potter over supporting trans people? do you feel that cis fans in the Harry Potter fandom ignore JKR's transphobia in any way, and how does this compare to the Marauders fandom as you've experienced it?

for South Park fans, here are my assumptions and questions:

most of South Park's Tumblr fandom is made up of young, white, AFAB trans people or queer cis girls.

genuine question: how does selfshipping work? how does one get into it? where do i start?

I'll skip queue to answer this (more input is appreciated in the replies);

I personally started when I was a little kid. I shipped myself with characters via an oc (who, was pretty much a self insert at the time). I didn't know what selfshipping was for a while, I didn't know that's what I was doing until like last year? ish? so here's what I did.

I made a self insert (me, personally, my self insert is just... me. BUT your self insert doesn't have to be exactly you. be creative and have fun. if you want your self insert to have giant angel wings and shoot rainbows out of their eyes, go for it!). and I ship my self insert with two characters (otherwise known as f/o's, aka, fictional others)

I think a lot of selfshippers do it for fun, but there are also people that selfship seriously (I do). basically, they're actually in a relationship with their f/os. my recommendation to start is, of course, pick a character you wanna selfship with (this doesn't have to be romantic, either! it can be platonic, or familial, queer platonic, whateva), make a self insert, and just go crazy and have fun.

some people's self inserts conform to their f/os universe. some people's s/is don't. literally you just have fun with it. it's fun to make art of your s/i and f/o, or write about them, or make playlists for them, or whatever you want to do. it literally is just, whatever you want to do.

I am trying to implement different hairstyles into chapter 4, and I've included a choice to alter the length of MC's hair now that she's older.

This question is specifically for those who play with a bald MC, would you like the choice for MC o grow her hair out or wear a head covering?

I'm probably vastly overthinking this, but I know for a lot of women who are bald, the baldness is caused by a medical condition not a fashion choice, so I am a bit worried to choice to have MC grow her hair out after being bald in childhood might come across insensitive. But then I also didn't want players who chose to be bald to have less choices than other players. (Feel free to send in an ask with input or reply in the comments.)

should they be added/kept or excluded? should some be kept and others not? and optionally: why do you think so?

★ How objective to the film should it be?

this one sounds crazy because obviously it should be the same. but i mean more about the depiction/treatment of women and borderline cultural appropriation - should loyalty to the film take priority? or could the rewrite benefit from something else in place of these things? or some secret third option?

it's a good film, but not without faults. i don't necessarily want to keep the less desirable aspects of it, but i also don't want to sacrifice elements that tie into important character arcs and such.

(just to be clear: i AM taking from the film! the only thing i plan to take from the book is a loose idea of how to break up the chapters. and i'm not even looking at the script)

★ How should this be released to the public?

this is REALLY far in the future so i'm not too worried about it yet haha

sorry if this is devling too much but can you elaborate on the t causing increased wetness - asking as someone this happened to and had never heard of anyone else on t talking about it before at all so i'm curious on any input/what other people have to say and/or have experienced?

first i had heard others talking about it was actually quite recently, some folks on twitter who make adult content were saying they'd experienced a huge increase in wetness compared to pre t.

WING EMBLEM Ita Bag Collection Update Thread! 🧵

I've been getting a lot of questions about when exactly the bags and their complementary accessories, the SPECIAL STAGE wallets, and the SPEED HEROES wrist lanyards, are coming, or if there are any updates, so I'm gonna write about it below. This will also be posted on my other socials and also in a newsletter I'll send out today.

I know I haven't updated my Tumblr as much as my other platforms, so this may be new info to some of you. On October 5, I posted this video of the WING EMBLEM ita bags sent to me by my manufacturer to my Twitter and Bluesky. This was when they were preparing to ship. Only 2 days ago on October 21 did I get a tracking number for the ita bags and wallets that I ordered.

I also have a video for the wallets, also sent to me by my manufacturer, which I posted on Twitter and Bluesky but I didn't post them here. You can see that here.

I did say they'd be coming in about a month when I made that post on October 5, but I assumed that when I sent that video, that they were ready to ship right then and there, so I apologize to anyone wondering "well she did say in a month, and it's almost the end of October, what gives?" 🙏🏾

Also, the SPEED HEROES wrist lanyards arrived at the end of August about 4 months ago. This is a photo of them unopened, if anyone was wondering! The bags and wallets are just much bigger items, so the lanyards have been waiting patiently to accompany the other items in the collection.

As for why bag/wallet shipping is taking so long: I ordered 300 bags & 150 wallets; together this is 26 individual boxes worth of merch which are coming by sea, so it's a lot to load on the ship. Last time I only ordered 100 and that was 9 boxes, so it wasn't as long of a wait.

At this time I don't have any updates on the tracking number, but I imagine I will see them in the next week or so. But now my estimate for their arrival is mid November to beginning of December. I did get expedited shipping so I'm crossing my fingers for mid-November. 🤞🏾

I definitely plan to make another post or posts when they actually arrive, and then I'm gonna need some time to inspect the items and then send invoices, but I'll try to send out as many packages at a time when that's all been sorted.

In addition, a gentle reminder that some orders may not arrive in time for the holidays, especially if you live outside of the US. I'll try to get as many out at a time as I can though! I am just one person doing all of this so I'm respectfully asking for your patience 💙

Hi! Thanks for your support and I’m sorry it took me a while to answer. The truth is, I’ve been thinking about how to answer your ask ever since I got it and I don’t really think there’s a guide I could write you for how to do Ricky right. There are lots of differences in opinion between fans, for equally valid reasons, about how Ricky is written when it comes to things like, should he concede or should he not? Should Ocean’s lines about him in WTWN be revised or should they be left as they are? I don’t think it’s up to me to decide which of those opinions are right or wrong or good or bad, and as well I’m just plain not a very strong writer so trust me you probably don’t want my input when it comes to making a script lol. I’m just a Ricky appreciator who likes to uplift him and his fans by way of the drawings I make.

These days I’m having some trouble getting my point across with words especially when it comes to complex topics, but as they say a picture is worth a 1000 words— I think my drawings speak for me pretty well when it comes to my visions of Ricky. That being said, if you want to use my content as inspiration for how you want to present Ricky, feel free. I’ve drawn him around 300 times for this blog alone at this point so there are a lot of cool vibes you could choose from. Although the subject matter for all of my drawings comes from the specifications set by the people sending in the requests, my opinions and preferences for how I like to see Ricky are pretty evident in my illustrations (ie. I tend to draw him with mobility aids even in the afterlife, I enjoy shipping him with the other guys, I incorporate a lot of Star Wars and Star Trek references, etc.)

As well, if any of my followers have ideas for how Ricky could be portrayed in productions going forward and would like to weigh in, please feel free to do so in the replies or reblogs of this post.

I have an idea for an Andromaquynh modern AU fanfic

In it, Quynh moves back home to her parents after getting a degree at university she isn't really sure she can or wants to use. She used to think that she's a city girl despising the suburbs she grew up in, but now she thinks she was wrong about that or maybe her preferences changed, she doesn't much like the cities she studied in anymore, first she thinks it's because she studied abroad (in the countries of her ancestors) and could never quite connect to the culture there, but visiting a friend in a city in her home country shows her it isn't just that, she just prefers a quieter environment

In the meantime, her parents have moved to a different part of town and it doesn't really feel like coming home at all. Quynh still struggles with her place in life, she doesn't want to hang around on her parents' couch doing nothing forever but she doesn't know what else to do either and the thought of a regular 9-5 job in an office terrifies her, she has done enough internships in that kind of environment to know she can't stand it for long

Quynh starts taking long walks through the countryside, for her health because she hasn't really found any sports/active hobbies in the area yet (that's an aspect she really liked about the cities, there's always something interesting going on, she used to dance and try out things like shooting with bow&arrow and axe throwing), and to have quiet time to think away from her family. That way she gets to know the area quite well - she actually already knows it a bit because she really didn't live far away as a kid, but she never really walked through the fields on this side of the suburbs before

On her walks she sometimes comes across equestrians, and one time a horse throws off its rider and she ends up catching the animal, which doesn't seem to mind people in general just people trying to climb and sit on it - it won't stay the last time she comes across that particular animal, and she thinks she understands the horse quite well what with not wanting to do jobs they don't like just to be allowed to live comfortably.

Andy's the owner of the horse riding school, and when a girl falls off her horse (probably the one that doesn't much like its riders, Quynh calls it Big Guy lovingly not knowing what it's actually called) and needs medical attention, Quynh ends up taking the horse back to the stables and meets Andy there.

There's a bit of an age-gap between them and even once they meet and fall in love Andy is reluctant to commit to Quynh out of fear of tying Quynh to a life she might not really want, meanwhile Quynh is finally figuring out her place in life and she wants to stay with Andy.

I'll probably never write the full fanfic, I just don't have the time and motivation for it. If anyone's interested in getting the draft and adopting it, I'd love to hand it over for you to write it!

The draft I have is pretty much in bullet points atm, but I'd even go over it and clean it up a bit if someone's really interested in adopting the fic, and I'd be open to either chatting about it and giving more input, or you taking it and doing your own thing with it!

I don't have the time to write a longfic atm and I feel like what with the plot I'm thinking of, it really needs to be 10 or even 20k minimum to start doing it justice... I also already wrote a college AU horse girl!Andy longfic before, and while that one was happier and this one would probably have quite some angsty vibes before reaching its happy ending, it still kind of feels like I've done this before, also reducing my motivation for it even more :( which is a pity really because I do really like the idea.

This is an AHIT side blog dedicated to my AU story.

For some background(omitting all spoilers), “Of Time And Space Itself”, is a ‘fairytale’ themed fic I started writing that slowly started escalating into a series of doodles. The more I wanted to write, the more I ran into some problems and I realized that I needed to figure out a couple of things, hence, the creation of this blog.

Accessible agere #1: colored text and fonts

Very many agere posts use Tumblr's colorful text feature and fonts either from Tumblr or outside it to fit aesthetics. Unfortunately, this creates an accessibility issue for people who use screen readers, as well as many people with visual or processing disabilities who don't use screen readers.

The problems:

Screen readers read out the name of the color of the text each time it changes, which isn't a problem for the most part, BUT gradient text will make it read the color before each individual letter, which makes it basically impossible to understand what the post says.

People who have difficulty seeing, or difficulty with processing visual input, or sensitivity to visual input, may have difficulty with reading some or all colors of text. Colors close to the background color of the post can be a problem for people with low vision, and bright colors or several contrasting colors can cause pain and seizures in people with migraines and photosensitive epilepsy.

Fonts that exist in Tumblrs code (the ones that come up if you select the "Aa" button) can be processed by screen readers in the same way as colors. However, fonts from outside of Tumblr will not be recognized by most programs and may cause them to not read the post, read confusing sounds, or crash entirely. This also applies to many copy pasted aesthetic symbols, some of which will make the program try to swap between languages.

Fonts can also be a problem for other people with vision and processing issues, like dyslexia. They may not be able to read the text.

Solutions:

Simply not using colored text or fonts is the easiest solution.

However, if you would like to use them, adding a warning to the post itself and/or a content warning tag such as "cw colored text" or "cw fonts" and making a separate post that has the same content, but without colors or fonts. The accessible post can be linked at the top of the main one for easy finding by people who need it.

Favorite Characters:

GoodTimesWithScar from Mcyt - A cartoon character in the best of ways. He’s a conman who can and will get you to hand your pants over, and will die 2 seconds later attempting to fly away. The artist behind Scar is also a big reason why I love him, with his artistry and determination in the face of hardness.

Papyrus from Undertale - A boisterous man with a love of puzzles and good puns, who is determined to make the best of his situation with the people around him. I’d say he was my first friendship crush that i thought was romantic before I realized I was aromantic.

Stan Pines from Gravity Falls - Another conman, an old geezer, with a heart of gold. He made many mistakes in his past, and tried for decades to fix them.

Bucky Barnes from the MCU - His life was torturous as the Winter Soldier. And while I love his life of recovery afterwards, I’m fascinated with the man before he fell from the train, and how he reacted to the war, and his first reprieve from Zola. I’m more in love with Bucky’s story tbh

Tobias from Animorphs - I’d say he was one of my first favorite characters. A boy trapped, but learned to make the most of it, even through extreme difficulty and strain. The way he learns of his heritage is one of my favorites. His books in the series are the ones I keep coming back and rereading. And he’s who I point to when people ask me about the characters I’m drawn to.

My Own Characters:

Annabelle - Set in the Pokémon world, Annabelle’s story is one about grief. She’s unambitious, but ends up on a gym challenge with her partner Jacob the Furret. On her path, Annabelle makes friends, both Pokémon and human, and learn more about herself, and of the land she lives in. No current publication of her story is out yet.

Eliza - Set in the world of Minecraft, Eliza’s story is about escaping. She, along with a large group of other Users, are under the watch of the Operators. The Operators set tasks for the Users to do, with rewards. But these tasks aren’t innocent, with some pointed at giving grief to other Users. Eliza played their games at first, but no more. Now she’s trying to escape, to hide herself from the Operators. This has a Story in the works

Murray - one of my oldest OCs, Murray is from the world of Wings of Fire. Son to an icewing and a seawing/nightwing, he is second youngest of 6, and twin to his sister Mil. Mil is an animus, and loves Murray very much. But they never had any boundaries growing up, so Mil had been enchanting both of them with no input from Murray. After an accident that crippled Murray, he had enough of Mil, and refused to let her heal him with her magic. They ended up being separated on Murray’s request, and he ended up thriving afterwards, finding his passion in the mechanicals. I really enjoy his design, especially his wheelchair aspect.

DragonSona Anemone - You ask me what my favorite animal is, I’ll reply with “Flamingos and Dragons.” This is the combination of the two. A pink feathery bird-like dragon, with chimes that hang from its horns. It loves to sing and dance, and I’m planning on making some sort of costume of it!

Jee - You ask me which of my oc I’d love trinkets of in real life, Id say my jerboa oc Jee. In fact, I do have a trinket! A plushie. I love its simple design, its color palette, and it’s cuteness!

Hello there 👋. Thank you so much for your response and thoughts on my last set of questions🤗☺️. Yes, I'm eager to see how Book's 2 and 3 will display the consequences of the people who wronged our hero will face. As well as show the activities of other characters that we haven't seen much in the first book. While I'm thrilled that our hero has been given a second chance to change her fate, I must admit that I still feel a little grieved. For if it was not for Alys performing her spell to send the reader back in time, Lady Lannister's fate has been officially sealed, reputation and family destroyed and Jenna and Cerilla have practically gotten away with murder with no consequence.😢😤 I'm also a little curious and anxious as to how Lady Lannister will go about her justice. As we know, she doesn't think things through when in anger, and we all know that she's beyond furious by the time she's sent back to the night of the Aemond's wedding.

I do have 2 questions I'd like to ask you today, if that's okay? If anything in this ask might prompt a spoiler, feel free not to answer ☺️.

Firstly, in my last ask, you stated that Tyshara did believe that our hero did commit adultery with Jacerion and Flora was convinced that reader did kill Ellyn. How do you think they would react if, from my previous ask, by some miracle they too witnessed the readers memories from start to finish?

🗡️💎🐉💎🗡️🐉💎🐉🗡️💎🐉🗡️💎🐉💎💎Secondly, Aemond. I recall that you mentioned that Aemond will receive the repercussions for his actions towards Lady Lannister and her situation from Book 1 in Book's 2 and 3. Could I ask, towards the end of his life in Book 1, did Aemond ever get a chance to properly reflect on and question his actions and approach towards the rumours surrounding him and Lady L, or reflect on his handling of Ellyn's behaviour towards our hero? And did he ever fully grasp and reflect on how cruel Ellyn really was by the end of his life, despite the pressure she was under trying to convince a child for him? From Ellyn's death to his battle above the Gods Eye, between the Chapters 9 and 11 (though correct me if I'm wrong), we see him trying to have a conversation with Lady Lannister, which was no doubt their last. Could that have been guilt for the position he put her in? Or was it Aemond's attempt to try to reconnect with the only person remaining from his childhood as at that point, he truly has no one left,(apart from Aegon and Jacerion, who we knew were quarrelling). We also noticed in the last few chapters he's in, that his demeanor is almost sickly, tired and worn down. Was his diminishing demeanor and well being due to any hallucinations he was exposed to? As Harrenhall is known as a cursed place, could Aemond maybe have had visions of events that were going on around him but took no notice of before? Or of the actions and decisions he took prompting him to feel guilty and remorse for them, for the people they affected most? Like how Daemon had visions during his time in Harrenhall in season 2 of the TV series.

As I spent the holidays eating good food and sleeping in I have been somewhat lax in my replies😅. Anyway, I have not forgotten your messages in my inbox, which always brighten up my day.

We will definitely will see the readers actions and the effects they will have on friends and enemies alike. Many characters who we have only seen a bit of will be more developed for books two and three. And you might be surprised and who becomes so important. The readers anger and her unthinking of the consequences will be important to her development.

First question: How would Flora and Tyshara react upon seeing the readers memories?

Flora would feel absolutely horrible. She and reader were friends after all, although I do not think I gave enough attention to that little detail in book one. In the first lifetime Flora distances herself from Y/n due to the rumors about Y/n and Jaecerion. It is not something she enjoys nor is proud of, but she feels it is necessary. For Flora it would not be hard for her to feel incredibly guilty.

Tyshara would feel guilty but it would take time. She is still young and angry. Her feelings towards Y/n are more due to her "stealing" Tyshara's mothers place than anything Y/n has/has not done. But she would feel guilty in time.

Second question: Aemond

Aemond was never fully aware of everything Ellyn had done to Y/n. He was keeping his distance from Y/n and was busy with the war. The reader had much more time to dwell on the matter of their relationship than Aemond. Aemond is dealing with a war, the guilt of killing Lucerys and eventually the declining health of his wife. When Y/n arrives at Harrenhal he does think more on their relationship. He does feel guilty that they have not spoken in so long. But so much has passed, and neither of them know how to address the issue. Aemond's sickly demeanor is due to his mental state because of the war and death/loss of those dear to him.

This is a super rough draft of a Tom Koracick x OC story I've had in my head. I got a ton of chapters done, but then kind of his a block at a cliff hanger and I figure, perhaps if I post it, maybe I can figure out what to do next.

Rating is probably close to PG, don't think there is any spicey bits, pretty tame.

Chapter Four

“This will be our office. I had Bailey free something up for you,” Tom said, opening the door to research room three. “I have to fly out in a few hours, and I expect your written proposal in my inbox by the time I land, so I can review it. Once we’re approved, you can start filling this place with whatever you need.” He handed a set of keys to Elizabeth, placing them firmly in her palm.

“Dr. Koracick, thank you for doing this,” Elizabeth replied, her voice sincere. She stepped into the room, setting her laptop down on a bare desk. She looked around, picturing the space bustling with equipment, workstations, and even cages for mice with brain tumors. It felt like potential was hovering in the air.

“Of course,” he replied simply, as if arranging all this was no big deal. Tom patted the outside of his jacket before slipping a hand inside to pull out his phone. After quickly entering his passcode, he handed the device to Elizabeth.

She took it, inputting her contact information, and handed it back. A second later, her pocket vibrated, signaling that he’d already messaged her.

“Tom?” The familiar voice of Amelia drifted in as she entered the room. “I thought you’d already left.”

Tom slid his hands into the pockets of his dark grey pants and smirked. “Miss me already, did you?”

“Actually, I could use that brain of yours for a project,” Amelia replied, casting a curious glance around the empty room. “Unless… are you?”

“I can share, but if my idea gets funding, he’s all mine,” Elizabeth interjected, a small smirk on her face.

“Sweetheart, you’d never have to share me,” Tom replied, wiggling his eyebrows.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “Just go, before you miss your plane and I’m stuck with you for another day.”

“Wait, are you two…?” Amelia asked, looking between them with raised eyebrows.

“Ick, no. She has cooties,” Tom replied, scrunching his nose and sticking out his tongue.

Elizabeth scoffed, reaching into her coat pocket to pull out a pen, which she lightly tossed at his chest. “Rude.”

He caught it effortlessly, laughing as he pocketed the pen. “Well, it’s mine now. You’re a terrible pen parent and don’t deserve to keep him,” he quipped, gesturing for Amelia to lead the way.

Elizabeth let out a chuckle as she sat down, opening her laptop. Pulling a nearby chair closer with the toe of her shoe, she got to work on her proposal.

“Oww!” Elizabeth groaned as she lifted her head from the desk, realizing she’d fallen asleep. Her laptop’s screen was dark, the battery long dead. She rubbed her neck, feeling the tension there. Her phone, lying on the desk, flashed green with a series of missed messages from an unknown number.

I’ve landed, and there’s nothing in my inbox. - T

Did you run into a problem? Call me, and we can work through it. - T

Did you fall asleep? - T

You fell asleep, didn’t you? Well, after you’ve woken, had coffee, and something to eat, give me a call. - T

The last message had arrived just five minutes ago. Without thinking, she tapped his number and lifted the phone to her ear.

“Fell asleep?” Tom’s voice asked, slightly amused.

“Yeah, sorry. I was reviewing the proposal when I must’ve dozed off. Now my computer’s dead, and I’m afraid I might fall asleep on the drive home.”

“If you’re that tired, don’t drive. Find an on-call room—they’re pretty comfortable at Grey Sloan.”

The tone in his voice made her raise an eyebrow. “Ew. Also, I’m off tomorrow… or today, I guess. I’d rather sleep in my own bed. I’ll send the proposal as soon as I get home and plug my computer in.”

“Well, until then, I’m staying on the line, so no hanging up.”

“I’ll be fine.”

“Says the woman who just drooled on the desk I got her.”

“I didn’t drool.” She huffed, closing her laptop and gathering it under her arm.

“Sure, sure. But if you did, I bet it was cute.”

Elizabeth flipped off the light and shut the door. “You’re impossible, you know that?”

“It’s one of my best qualities—right after this thing I can do with my tongue.”

“Koracick!” Elizabeth nearly shouted, causing a few passing nurses to glance her way.

“What, did you just turn my tongue trick into something dirty?”

“You know I really don’t like you,” she said as she stepped into the elevator.

“You love me; don’t deny it. So tell me, why didn’t you accept my offer for residency?”

Elizabeth sighed, leaning back against the wall. “I’m busted, aren’t I?”

“I knew exactly who you were when we met. So tell me, why didn’t you accept the match at Hopkins or the generous offer I got the board to make when you became a resident?”

“Honestly?” She hesitated as the elevator filled with Doctors Owen Hunt and Richard Webber. She shifted over to make room, lowering her voice. “I thought you were an asshole. I mean, it’s still up for debate,” she added with a chuckle. Owen and Richard turned slightly, glancing curiously at her.

“But learning from the best didn’t mean much if I couldn’t stand the teacher. So I watched your lectures, practiced your methods, and, might I add, I was brilliant at it.”

“Did you know you’re both infuriating and amazing?”

“I’ve heard that before—usually in bed, though.” The words slipped out, and she winced as Owen stifled a laugh, while Richard, a few paces ahead, shook his head slightly.

“I can’t believe I just said that.”

“I thought it was a brilliant response.”

“Yeah, well, the people in this elevator don’t agree.”

Tom’s laughter rang through the phone, just as the elevator doors dinged open on the main level. Owen motioned for Elizabeth to go ahead, and she gave him a nod before stepping out into the lobby.

“You know what, good night, Dr. Koracick,” she said with a smile. “I promise not to fall asleep behind the wheel. Goodnight.” She ended the call, still smiling.

Owen caught up to her. “It was pretty funny,” he admitted.

“Owen Hunt,” he said, holding out his hand. “We haven’t been formally introduced—I’ve only barked orders at you in passing. Sorry about that, by the way.”

“It’s fine; comes with the job,” she replied, shaking his hand. “Elizabeth White.”

They continued walking together. “So, Elizabeth, any relation to Dr. White in Cardio?”

“Unfortunately, yes. He’s my father.”

“Yikes,” Owen said, grimacing.

“Yep, that’s the usual reaction,” she said, shrugging. “He’s amazing at what he does, but… nothing’s ever good enough for him.”

Owen noticed her exhaustion. “You know, I did follow you out here because you left in your scrubs and coat. Figured you might actually fall asleep at the wheel.”

Elizabeth gasped, looking down at herself. “Oh, for heaven’s sake. Maybe I should have found an on-call room.”

“How about you crash on my couch?”

She sighed, too tired to argue. “I was supposed to have tomorrow off, but I’m probably just going to end up back here, so alright, lead the way.”

When they reached his truck, Owen helped her in, steadying her as she half-climbed, half-stumbled into the seat. The drive was quiet, and Elizabeth dozed until they arrived, jolted awake by the truck’s abrupt stop.

“We’re here,” Owen said, catching her as she nearly slid out of the truck. “Didn’t realize you are that short.”

“Hey, I’m not that short; your truck is just absurdly tall,” she laughed.

Inside, Owen handed her an oversized, well-worn T-shirt and pointed down the hall. “The bathroom’s just there, and there should be some spare toiletries in the drawer.”

“Thanks, Doctor Hunt.”

“Owen, please.”

“Thanks, Owen.” She changed quickly, scrubbing her face clean and brushing her teeth. When she returned, she found he’d set up the couch with a sheet, pillows, and a couple of blankets.

“Thanks again for this,” she said, settling onto the makeshift bed.

“Don’t mention it,” he replied, grinning. “I’d offer you the bed, but I don’t think I’m ready to witness these ‘skills’ of yours firsthand.”

Elizabeth laughed, tossing a throw pillow at him as he darted down the hallway. “Rude, Owen Hunt. Just rude.”

Hear, ye Hear, ye! I have reached the phase in my romance novel writing process where I am in need of beta readers.

What does that mean?

Do you have a lot of opinions on stories in the fantasy genre? On dragon romance? Or on trans/nonbinary representation in stories? You're an adult? Then you're the kind of person I'm looking for! A beta reader is someone who gives all the input on story/characters/what's missing/what seems confusing - you are the view for the writer to see past the cloud of their creation to find out how readers will feel about their story.

Great, I'm interested - What's the story about?

Valentine was born to be the royal heir to the kingdom of the Sun. Forced to choose between being a prince or princess, they decide to throw it all away to work on becoming a rogue at the local thieves guild instead. Training to one day be adept enough to run away and leave the strict control of their unsympathetic mother for good. Sent on a quick retrieval mission in the nearby mountains, they instead encounter a highly unusual dragon by the name of Asrir. A collector of oddities and very much one himself. The two of them bond over their frustrations with societal expectations and find quick friendship. Over time friendship blooms to love and the two of them face both the challenge of admitting their feelings and escaping the clutches of the queen.
