idk if this has any merit to it so correct me if i’ve got the wrong idea but a thing i’ve been thinking lately is that the biblical dichotomy between jew and gentile (which new testament scripture teaches is no more) is sort of reborn in the modern dichotomy between like.,,, cradle catholic and random atheist/agnostic
point being, God will reach out to everyone. even those who aren’t doing all the little traditional rituals right, even those who don’t know what they’re doing, even those who just walked in out of nowhere. so the former need to remember to have humility and compassion for others who are trying their best to seek truth.
this is not to say the former are doing anything wrong by going through all those motions- of course not! and of course those motions aren’t insignificant; they’ve got so much history and tradition behind them. but ultimately they aren’t what save us. the foreign gentile who just showed up one day is baptized and saved. the deathbed convert is baptized and saved. funny how that is
the devout jewish people of the scriptures and the modern day hardcore tradcaths are neither better nor worse than other people- they are the people fortunate enough to be born in the ‘right’ environment, so encountering Christ and being saved will be much easier for them. but this also means they have a responsibility to do more.
and if they go haywire in the way they behave the consequences will be so much worse because of what they’re supposed to be representing (and i’m sure we all know that biblically the jewish people have caused lots of their own problems and presently. well. a lot of catholics Suck™️. we are all that person sometimes. often. usually)

Just catch me still thinking about Tanthai calling himself empty and Thee looking at him with the most broken heart but not ability to actually do anything because he works for his father and works for Tanthai and Tanthai going on and on about hating people and wanting them dead and then just staring and asking if he should be the one to die which was when whatever was holding Thee back snapped just a little and he leaned forward to capture Tanthai's face and take care of the wound on his lip and he couldn't do more, there's nothing more he can do for him, but it was so much in that moment because it was everything he could do.
Tanthai is so deeply fucked up and you can see as he struggles with everything in his life and how he might be spoiled with money but he's never had a healthy emotional connection in his life and Thee is right there staring at him with the pain that Tanthai doesn't even know he's feeling caught in his eyes.
When the only outlet you ever see is anger and all you grow up with is knowing that you will be hurt and you will never be good enough to be loved so why bother being trying and so everything turns to anger, anger that has nowhere to go but yourself and Tanthai might turn his nose up at everyone and lash out constantly but it's coming from a place of pain so deep he can't even feel it anymore.
It's not an excuse, it's not an explanation, but it is his life.
(He said when he saw her dead. I wonder if Tanthai is really the one to blame for her death or it's dear old dad who's the one who truly fucked up and Tanthai has ended up taking the blame because he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.)

Recently started rereading stormlight, shalash was totally at the feast. I mean restares (I forget his herald name) mentioned seeing the work of another herald using she/her, her statue was missing (she defaces depictions of herself), AND there was an unusual person jasnah met with (who had a shardblade)

WIP Wednesday progress
Whew this week somehow went fast and also took for fucking ever >< But I managed to work on everything voted on in my poll!
Here's what the results of the poll were: -write 5 sentences for Elisabeth and Jasper fluff -spend 25 minutes sketching for the recipe card(s) I am making for the next zine -spend 10 minutes working on the floriography doodle for Vanora and Faolan -write one sentence for the Moshang whump prompt
Sentences and sketch progress below the cut!
Elisabeth and Jasper floriography prompt: larkspur, first time making someone laugh
“No, no! I’m quite certain I heard you!” Elisabeth protested, vexed by how unflappable he was. “Do tell me exactly what part amused you so much. I shall endeavor to think of more stories like it to tell!”
With a hint of a smile, Jasper asked, “Might I inquire what brought on this recitation?”
Elisabeth was convinced that if he were a less dutiful sort of man, he might even have allowed himself the luxury of leaning against the writing desk. She sighed, but replied brightly “Noah was less than pleased with me for explaining to Hamin how he broke his arm when we were children, particularly since I did so during the Welcome Feast.”
“Oh?”
Moshang whump prompt "flashback"
Shang Qinghua, however, still looks terrified. “Aha, well, I couldn’t sleep and there’s all this work to be done, you know,” he says with a shaky laugh that wouldn’t convince a child.
Recipe card sketching: I actually did more than 25 minutes for this, but a lot of it wound up being measuring things, sketching in some things, erasing them, sketching something else, more erasing, and looking at fonts, so I don't have much fun to show for this :/ I need to refine the lettering I sketched more and then maybe i'll have something interesting to show ;)
Vanora and Faolan doodle: I also didn't make a ton of progress on this, partly because i started it in my sketchbook a little too small, so now it's a scan I'm working on digitally so i can't work on it at work. But I did some work on going over the lines with my tablet, so there's a slightly easier to see Faolan xD of course I wanted to do slightly more complicated poses so I'm still figuring that all out and finding references to get the angles right :/ But here's where that's at!

And that's it for this week! I'll make another poll tomorrow/ Thursday :D

Ezra Reads the Law
1 all the people gathered together as one man to the open place that was before the water-gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded Israel. 2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation, both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month. 3 And he read in it before the open place that was before the water-gate from the morning until midday, in presence of the men and the women, and those that could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law. 4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a high stage of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkijah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddana, Zechariah, Meshullam. 5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up. 6 And Ezra blessed Jehovah, the great God; and all the people answered, Amen, Amen! with lifting up of their hands; and they bowed their heads, and worshipped Jehovah with their faces to the ground. 7 And Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people stood in their place. 8 And they read in the law of God distinctly out of the book, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9 And Nehemiah, that is, the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that explained to the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your God: mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law. 10 And he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared; for the day is holy to our Lord; and be not grieved, for the joy of Jehovah is your strength. 11 And the Levites quieted all the people, saying, Be still! for the day is holy; neither be grieved. 12 And all the people went their way, to eat and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great rejoicing. For they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13 And on the second day were gathered together the chief fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to gain wisdom as to the words of the law. 14 And they found written in the law which Jehovah had commanded through Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month, 15 and that they should publish and proclaim through all their cities, and at Jerusalem, saying, Go forth to the mount, and fetch olive-branches, and wild olive-branches, and myrtle-branches, and palm-branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written. 16 And the people went forth and brought them, and made themselves booths, everyone upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the open space of the water-gate, and in the open space of the gate of Ephraim. 17 And all the congregation of them that had come back from the captivity made booths, and dwelt in the booths. For since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun until that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness. 18 Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they observed the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance. — Nehemiah 8 | Literal Emphasis Translation (LET) The Literal Emphasis Bible is in the public domain. Quote
Celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your threshing floor and your winepress. Be joyful at your festival -- you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.

Judy A.'s Kitchen Clog Catastrophe – And How DoctorDrain Saved the Day!
Judy A. from Northbrook was in the middle of preparing a holiday feast for her family when disaster struck. It was a big night—cousins, aunts, and in-laws had all gathered around for a special celebration. Judy was setting out appetizers, the scent of her famous lasagna filled the air, and everything seemed perfect until… the kitchen sink stopped draining. The water was rising quickly, turning murky with soap and bits of food, and no amount of plunging made a difference. Judy’s heart sank as she realized the clog was deeper than she thought, and the evening could be ruined if she couldn't get it fixed fast.
But then, she remembered DoctorDrain. She’d seen their trucks around town and decided to give them a call. Within an hour, a friendly technician arrived with all the right tools and expertise. He quickly diagnosed the problem—a nasty buildup of grease and food that had finally blocked the pipes. In no time, the technician cleared the clog, checked the rest of the pipes, and even gave Judy a few tips to prevent future blockages. That night, Judy’s dinner went on without a hitch, and her sink worked better than ever.
