Just a reminder the Republicans are a party filled with racists otherwise the house GOP wouldn't have to explicitly tell other republicans to not attack Kamala Harris based on her race or skin tone. Weren't the Republicans and other conservatives talking about judging people based on their character and not on the tone of their skin, guess those guys missed the memo? It's darkly funny they even have reign this in at all, despite all the criticisms you could have of the democratic party they've never have had to keep racism within the party in check for decades especially not now. So keep up the good fight and don't stop spreading awareness of project 2025 peeps, we have our democracy to save!

British Columbia’s 2024 provincial election is still up in the air after a rollercoaster election night that saw neither the BC NDP nor the BC Conservatives secure enough seats to form a majority government. The final outcome of BC’s election will not be clear for over a week with results in several key ridings separated by less than a few hundred votes. Those results could potentially flip after final ballots are counted and mandatory recounts are conducted. What is clear is that the results represent a major political realignment in BC. The BC Conservatives, a far-right party previously relegated to the fringes of BC politics, received only 1% of the vote and held no seats after the previous election in 2020. But on the morning after election night in 2024, the BC Conservatives received more than 43% of the vote and won at least 40 seats.

A friend sent me this picture that I think is very important:
In English: "On June 30th, everyone will have to vote for the New Popular Front, Luke. A true gentleman screws the Front National."
If you can I'm begging you to go vote the 30th
And screw the far right like a true gentleman does
#professor layton#curious village#politics#france politics#french politics#elections#french elections#please vote if you can#if you don't know the 'Front National' is a french far right political party that might win the next elections#and the 'Nouveau Front Populaire' is a recent union of left political parties

Well I know nobody on here gives a fuck about Dutch politics, but to my fellow Dutch mutuals and stuff, good luck tonight. We're either going towards the most right wing government we've had in quite a while, or if we're incredibly lucky, still hoping for maybe the first left-wing prime minister in a long time as well.
#the polls are not looking great for us#as in one of our largest and most far right parties is projected to win the election#not the most far right#but nearly#it's#not great#the Netherlands#Netherlands#Nederland#tweede kamer#elections#voting#politics

reform winning 14% of the total votes but only 4 seats has never made me appreciate the otherwise terrible first-past-the-post voting system more
#for non-brits: reform is the fascist far-right party#thankfully their biggest impact was simply helping split the conservative votes in many constituencies#nigel nutcase farage is in though ugh#uk politics#world tag#ellie rambles

In 2016 everyone was all giddy about the idea of the "first female president", because they assumed the clown wouldn't win. Now no one has even mentioned that part because we're all terrified of the consequences of her not winning. The situation is grim, and not just for America. Happy Wednesday I guess.
#us election#talked with my dad about why im so worried about the far right winning#it wouldnt make a difference for him#so he doesnt really care that much#politics for him are just a preference#its exhausting seeing him care so little#but knowing my people risk losing so much if the wrong parties win

The past couple days online have been... interesting. I consider myself a leftist, think capitalism is corrupt, and think that it needs to be seriously reformed/overthrown. I admit that while I've thrown around phrases and terms like "burn it all down" and "the revolution needs to come" out of frustration without actually thinking about what a revolution entails: excellent organization, unity, and strategy to defeat the United States, the world's largest military superpower which has inflicted political and social destabilization across the majority of countries around the world. There also needs to be superb infrastructure and community to support the disabled, elderly, and poor populations who rely on government assistance and programs, healthcare, and accommodations while this so-called revolution rages on.
All I've received from the far leftist movement are lectures from condescending intellectuals who rattle off academic citations regarding ideological theory rather than practical, tangible steps to advocate for change in our local and regional communities. I have not seen one of them actually discuss conversations they've had with their friends, family, or Americans about what they want to see reflected for the future of the country. I have not seen one of them discussed how destructive, detrimental and traumatic a Trump presidency was for social prejudice and morale in the United States. I understand that for many marginalized groups they've been living in a facist state for centuries so the possibility Project 2025 doesn't galvanize them to see the two parties differently, but I don't think it is fair to white leftists falsely equivocate the election of both parties for the entire American population at all??? Or like at least specify the issues you're referring to in which you view both parties as the same????? Literally one TikTok creator who I used to follow talked about how true leftists are so much better than liberals because they aren't waiting for a presidential candidate to save the world NOW due to the accelerated apocalypse due to climate change but when asked how to change the world they suggest sharing ideas of your future utopia with other leftist groups. How the fuck is sitting around talking about living in a walkable community is great considered "saving the world now"? How are you going to dismantle and restructure American infrastructure to create these communities? How are you going to remove existing racial and social tensions to create a community where everyone lives happily side by side? Do people not consider reality at all?????
And is it not wrong for people to have a fucking sliver of optimism and hope at incremental change that's achieved within the corrupt bipartisan system of American politics, even if they know it's propaganda??? Is it wrong for people to have a singular fucking moment of relief in feeling like their values, beliefs, and lives will be better protected and THEY can advocate for change better??? Is it wrong when there's a couple months until the most pressing election in recent history for people to make the choice they feel will reduce the most amount of harm???
#literally i've seen some leftists post like the people in the us could never handle the torture that the us inflicts in other countries#like seriously what the actual fuck do you not think most people are struggling here and dying of preventable diseases and being subjected#to hate crimes mental health crisis systemic racism sexism etc.#why the fuck arent you actually helping your community and helping them see how foreign and domestic policy are tied instead of screaming#like so much of this virtue signaling and not being grounded in reality drives me crazy#and im fucking tired of not being allowed to feel happiness about anything unless it's morally socially perfect how the fuck are we suppose#to move the needle if we never fucking feel happy????? like what after your disorganized revolution the way your room is disorganized i can#be happy that i live in a perfect utopia?? NO! that's not how the fucking world works get a grip#i never believed in working within the system but at least other more reasonable leftists have offered tangible solutions to sway politicia#in our favor and retain a little bit of our rights#like this one woman was saying union organizers align themselves with democrats strategically not because they agree with the party but#so that democrats will count on their vote and money and in turn advocate for union rights#like i feel like a far leftist would be like omg how dare you align with the democrats!!! but like honey!!! what the fuck are we supposed t#do??? stick our fucking nose up at the current political system unless we get everything we want to move the party further to the right and#then wake up one day and realize because we were waiting for a perfect system all our fucking rights are gone?????#bffr#i know i am going to lose all of my followers for this post#grace rants#politics#donald trump#kamala harris#joe biden#jd vance#project 2025#2024 elections#also to be clear this is what i feel right now because of the delayed discussion of far-leftism and options and campaigning for candidates#if leftists actually get together and UNIFY and fucking do something i'll consider inching forward to the revolution#but screaming the system is corrupt without giving people solutions or action steps and just giving them severe anxiety is unhelpful

One of Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative MPs was spotted at an after-party for a far-right group that has been mobbing parliamentarians, disrupting ceremonies honouring Terry Fox and getting into altercations with NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. Michael Cooper, Poilievre’s shadow minister for Democratic Reform, stopped by a party at the Red Pepper restaurant on Queen Street to pose for photos with a group that has been confronting MPs in the streets of Ottawa and accusing them of “treason.” The so-called “Wellington Street Regulars” are a convoy spin-off group that has been staging daily protests outside Parliament Hill for the last two years and are known for livestreaming videos of themselves aggressively confronting MPs. A number of the group’s regular members say they are on security lists and banned from entering the House of Commons.

Keep loving, be kind, smile, laugh and above all live because life doesn’t end here, it may seem like it did, but it won’t, it will be hard for a little bit but we have to believe that better times will come, we have to believe that hate and bigotry won’t win forever
Live as happily as you can because that is the greatest act of defiance you can make in this world that doesn’t seem to want us, but we are here and we will be till the end of time and they won’t kill us
Times may seem dark and we may be lost in the darkness but please please please remember to look for the light in other people because it is there

Politics in the U.S. have shifted sooo much to the right that now there are only two competing political spectrums:
The far right drawing bills that would allow kids/ teenagers to work longer hours and perform some currently banned tasks, cutting taxes on the super rich (increasing them on the poor), criminalizing abortion (some states even want to implement the death sentence to women who have abortions), criminalizing trans people (by banning drag shows, or anything that 'sexualizes' children, without of course fobidding beauty competitions in little girls in bikinis), banning any books that talk about racism, trans people or homosexuality from schools, etc. There are people even talking about banning women's rights to vote.
Versus the center right, a.k.a. Democrats which are even more right than the CDU, which is Germany's center right party that widely endorses universal health care and many other social issues that the Democratic party rarely even talks about or would even dream in supporting ("Like why should I pay for other's peoples' wellbeing").
The center left, i.e. Bernie Sanders, is out of the panorama, since it is considered far left even by the Democrats in the U.S. of A. Bernie Sanders is by no means, a socialist. He'd be an average SPD member, which is Germany's current ruling center left party.
While the Evangelical right of the U.S. does not represent the majority, they have so much power, that they managed to succeed in drawing all these antisocial legislations. It's not only a democracy question, but the truly worrying thing is that they can be considered the Western Hemisphere's equivalent of the Taliban.

Listen. I'm not foolish enough to expect the Democratic nominee to proudly proclaim some socialist stance. That's just the state of American politics and its terminally myopic two-party system.
This need to appeal to the capital "M" Moderate, though? It's just the steady shift of Democratic policies further to the Right. It's how you get six Republicans speaking at the DNC, but not a single Palestinian-American speaker. It's how you get, for the first time in 12 years, no trans speakers at the DNC during a time when the GOP have put transphobia and anti-queer policies at the forefront of their platform.
Rather than dismiss or ignore the tired Socialist/Marxist/Communist accusations that Republicans fling at everyone to the left of fucking Sauron, Harris feels the need to tell people in an official public speech: "Look, I'm a capitalist."
This is a thing that no one asked or even thought about except for the most terminally online far-right trolls that weren't gonna vote for her anyway. Yet, she felt the need to reassure everyone she isn't some "radical." Whatever that means. This is how you have Harris promising to pass that failed bi-partisan immigration bill that Donald Trump sabotaged. Which, in case everyone forgot, would have been one of the toughest and harshest to date. Can't look weak against immigrants and asylum seekers!
This is how you have the Democratic Nominee for President promising to keep the US military the "strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world."
This is how you have the Democratic Nominee for President's economic policies compared to Mitt Goddamn Romney's.
Anyone remember the Romney's presidency? No, of course not, because he lost.
Will Harris defeat Trump in 2024? There's a good chance that she might win - or perhaps more accurately - that Trump will lose. I truly hope for this outcome.
But what about 2028? 2032? What about when someone less personally offensive than Trump but every bit as fascistic inevitably tops the GOP ticket? One a little more disciplined in speech, less prone to inane ramblings, and lacks dozens of indictments? How can the Democratic Party, ostensibly the "left wing" of American politics, supposed to stay competitive and distinguish themselves in a political arena when they're constantly ceding ground to the Right on immigration, military spending, the economy, guns; trying to hush controversial issues like "human rights for queer people," or "being a party to genocide" in a desperate attempt to appeal to some shrinking "moderate" demographic?
What do they have left, when all they can say is "well at least we're not weird like those guys"?
When NBC News of all organizations asked about the DNC's lack of trans speakers this year or the scaling back of discussions about queer rights, it was met only with silence:
"The DNC and the Harris campaign declined to comment."
Cool.
#Kamala Harris#2024 Election#Moderates#Democratic Party#Republicans#Overton Window#Listen - I understand the need to want to meet people halfway#*when it's done in good faith*#but when one side is always walking backwards (i.e only shifting further and further into far-right nationalism)#and another side is always stepping forward to meet them ''halfway''#before long even ''halfway'' is going to be really bad - downright monstrous#plenty of people would argue it already is - and it's going to get worse#unless a lot of things change and the two-party establishment is greatly upset#Politics#Centrism#Centrists#Liberals#American Politics#Long Post Sorry
