A few things of note:

The order came with the pardoning of anti-abortion protestors who were convicted of breaking laws about blocking or otherwise stopping people from being able to access health care centers and the calling of those laws "anti-Christian," with zero consideration about the rights of people who are trying to get goddamn healthcare.

The order called the FBI's brief investigation of far-right traditional Catholic groups (often called "trad caths," who include white supremacist Nick Fuentes of "Your Body My Choice" fame among their number) as possible domestic terrorist threats as "anti-Christian bias" and thus signaling that any far-right extremist groups that claim to be Christian cannot and should not be considered security threats (meanwhile the FBI has been planting informants in Muslim places of worship for years).

Reversing Biden-era policies within the foster care system that sought to protect LGBTQ+ children within that system, which they called an effort to "drive Christians who do not conform to certain beliefs on sexual orientation and gender identity out of the foster-care system." I.e. "it's anti-Christian bigotry to not put queer kids in foster homes that believe queerness is a sinful abomination."

Creating a task force within the Department of Justice called "Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias." The purposes of this task force is essentially to monitor other government agencies, including the Department of Labor, the Department of Education, Health and Human Services, and the IRS to "identify any unlawful anti-Christian policies, practices, or conduct by an agency contrary to the purpose and policy of this order."

I love watching a burgeoning fascist theocracy take form in real time.

At last, a chance to use the Trash Future podcast's t-shirt: "What If Your Robot Was Just a Guy?" since they've been talking about this very problem for years.

It really is amazing to what degree so-called "AI" and "smart" technology are essentially these modern-day Mechanical Turks; hoaxes claiming to be ground-breaking automation secretly being run by humans hidden inside the machine.

Does anyone remember those cashier-less "Amazon Fresh" stores where you were able to to just...pick up items and leave the store and the "smart technology" was supposed to know what you picked up and charge you for it, no cashiers or checkouts or store employees needed?

Amazon spent hundreds of millions to develop it, and their intention was to sell that technology to other stores. It was supposed to revolutionize grocery shopping! Well as it turns out...

It was just workers in India! 1,000 paid contractors just to keep up the ruse that the stores were fully automated! And it wasn't just their grocery stores, either. If you read the article where the snippet above is from, they also mention: 'So-called “supervised learning” in AI is why Amazon had thousands of contractors listening in on commands to Alexa, for instance.

Alexa, as it turned out, isn't a "smart" speaker. It's more a dumb microphone where a human being paid a pittance had to make sure the computer was doing its job correctly. Which, considering the presence of thousands of contractors needing to babysit your Alexa, it probably wasn't.

AI is a scam and continues to be a scam. Its algorithms trained on stolen data are propped up by invisible, underpaid workers being exploited by third-party contractors so the companies that hired them like Microsoft, Amazon, or OpenAI have a layer of insulation between them and digital sweatshops being run with wage-slavery in their name.

And these people want to run the world with this shit.

When I became freelance, one of my first marketing contracts was fixing my boss' blog posts and articles that he had 'written' with ChatGPT.

It was the single most soul-sucking task I have ever done in my life. I could have ghostwritten it for them faster than it took me to edit it.

ChatGPT would often hallucinate features of the product, and often required more fact-checking than the article was worth.

It is absolutely no surprise that 77% of employees report that AI has increased workloads and lowered productivity, while 96% of executives believe it has boosted it.

The reality is that it's only boosted the amount of work employees have to do which leads to increased burnout, stress and job dissatisfaction.
