Inazuma Japan & The Horned Owls vs. the language barrier

this post was born from a need for language struggles in the 3rd i11 season, and also from how finnish and japanese have a weird overlap while being so vastly different. (Most of the owls have not too much trouble with basic communication in english since it's taught here from early on, and while IJ doesn't do as well, I think Kidou has the best language skills so he'd do the most talking at first)

explaining the jokes n stuff under cut!

first comic:

"Tobitakapuoli" is a mix of Tobitaka and takapuoli, which means backside or a butt in finnish. Valokainen says "I wonder if he has a good butt" but the word for butt is the one mixed with Tobitaka.

(Valokainen is a man of dumb word plays)(like I am)(a friend asked if he's my self-insert and I wasn't able to fully deny)

I dunno if it's common but at least I like to mash up words in odd places, like adding another word to make a single word into a compound word. but I know for a fact it's a common thing to make twisted words, where you have two words and switch up a few of the first letters in both, to make the meaning totally different while the words still sound the same (ruskaa pakkaseen -> paskaa rukkaseen). most of these are really pervy or just plain poop jokes, but the joke lies in that you don't say the twisted version... everyone just knows.

also! even though finnish and japanese are pretty far from each other as languages, there are many words that are in both languages, but have different meanings. that "taka" is one, but also words like hana, kasa, hai, toki, kakka (heh)

second comic:

even if finnish and japanese sound kinda similar in many ways, there's letters and sounds that don't really exist in the other. like the finnish "ti", with a hard T (if you put "talitintti" in ggl translate and read it out as finnish, you can hear how tintti is aprox. pronounced) but in japanese they would pronounce it with ち (chi), making tintti something like chinchi...

.....and yeah chinchin is penis in japanese and that's the joke *bows and escapes from the stage*

Full Moon and Apology Tour have been such a whirlwind of emotions that I had to watch them three times before I realized Blitz actually cares.

Holding on by a thread here in ep. 6, self sabotage, but I understood him 'cause the deal was still on and the class difference was an objective problem for Blitz.

And then, in Full Moon/Apology Tour the deal doesn't stand anymore, and Blitz notices that Stolas can't see the implications of his privilege and separates him from his status. So the feelings could be, maybe, perchance... genuine?

And then

Because there was something for him to teach and Stolas to learn, and Blitz is throwing every restraint out the window to focus on the fact that it was genuine, finally letting himself feel it too.

inukag was born to be shipped by me and I was born to ship inukag as well

For ages now I've been meaning to write about the reasons why I ship Inukag as fervently as I do and @inukag-week felt like the perfect opportunity to indulge myself, so here we go.

I want to start with how aesthetically pleasing they are. From their perfect size difference to the complimentary color scheme of their outfits plus contrasting hair and eye colors, Inuyasha and Kagome just look absolutely good together.

Their character design makes it clear from the get go that they're visually a great match. The association is so strong that the audience becomes unable to picture one without the other, as if they're two halves of the same item. Different, yet unequivocally a team, a pair.

Decades ago, they already had that classic quality to them and I bet they'd never get out of style even decades from now. And the rich lore that surrounds the pairing only adds to that aesthetic: the well, the tree, the beads, the robe, the sword, all of it enhances how iconic they are. Even something as ordinary as star gazing becomes uniquelly theirs.

Futhermore, I just absolutely love the entire concept of it. The subvertion of the fairy tale archetype, the idea of a love that transcends time, of soulmates who actually work on building their bond. Loving each other was both inevitable and a choice they made every single day.

Inuyasha and Kagome were just two teenagers from different worlds — literally and figurativelly — discovering together what love was. This made their relationship very compelling, because the excange between them is insanely substancial.

And their overall dynamic is so wholesome. There was a push and pull, a give and take, that made it fluid rather than static. Every single milestone felt organic and kept the audience thirsting for the next one.

Nothing felt forced or rushed. The slow burn was competently written to showcase their relationship being build on a very strong foundation, consistent in intimacy, mutual trust and acceptance — recurring themes for them and for the story — and so the stages of their bond had such a natural pace, it highlighted how genuine and healthy it was.

Consequently, there are so many aspects of their connection to explore. There's a never ending room for angst and for light hearted moments and you can adopt a more mature perspective or go for comical instead: they manage to be versatile without being generic and to embod the best clichés in fiction without becoming one themselves.

It's hard to think of a trope they couldn't pull off or an alternate universe that doesn't work for them. It gives the fandom plenty of freedom to be creative and to have the best time with it.

Plus, their chemistry was off charts. The romantic tension bleed through every single interaction. Their passion is so strong you could feel it even in scenes that had nothing to do with romance. And they didn't even need to kiss to achieve that level of synchrony.

They were also compatible. Inuyasha and Kagome balance each other quite nicely. Even in a relationship, they still keep their individualities and remain interesting both as characters and as a ship.

The very thing that dooms most pairings — opposite personalities — is precisely what keeps them together. Inuyasha and Kagome are completely different from each other, but they're actually extremely similar where it actually matters: their morals and goals.

And they longer they stay together, challenging one another, growing through trials and tribulations, inadvertently learning what each other's needs are and fulfilling them, easing each other's sorrows, covering each other's backs, saving each other's lives in every possible way, learning each other and learning with one another, the more their dichotomy turns into a duality, because they gain a more nuanced perspective of themselves, of each other and of the world.

It's a level of understanding, closeness and respect incredibly difficult to match. And for Inuyasha and Kagome, no one else even came close.

Another thing is that they're not just complementary to each other, but to the story itself. Their romance enhaces the overall plot. It has a structural placement in the wider narrative, strengthening its core themes and fulfilling the characters individual arcs, ultimately resulting in a more compelling journey.

So many romances are disposable to their own story, but Inukag was detrimental to theirs. Inuyasha and Kagome's interactions served as pivotal points of their respective arcs. Taking only the narrative into consideration, their relationship holds a lot of weight and greatly influenced everyone around it and it tied everything together.

That's why their happy ending felt so satisfying: it feels earned because everything went full cycle. All of that symbolism, all of those parallels paid off. Anything different from what we got would simply lack narrative and thematic cohesion.

And even if they didn't end up together, they could never be circumstancial. There was a real reason why they met, a reason why the fell in love and why they had ever lasting impacts on each other's lives regardless. It wasn't just love for love's sake.

This is what makes them, in my opinion, an epic ship.

BONUS: their soundtrack is lit and their quotes are simply legendary.

I drew Fred!! (And Walter Bob but I've never actually seen him, I just wanted to try making a character design for him) I'm not keeping up with the streams but I came across a Fred and Tubbo letter excange clip...and I'm watching every single fred and tubbo video I can get my hands on. The angst! The letters! The rejection and the development of new feelings!!! It's so good

Also thought it'd be fun to show my process - I first doodle the most minuscule stick figures (literally 2 cm tall or so), then scale them up and start erasing and adding some information, then I draw over them once to get all my ideas down, and finally, I draw over them one last time to make the final lineart!

inchresting how he also mentions job hunting huh...though this could be taken as a more of a future kinda deal, it could also be a hint of how much more serious/dire his own situation and need to depend on himself is or him being an overall overachiever compared to the others...considering the hints that his family didn't really care or 'excanged money for love' or maybe hinata thought of his studies as a burden to his parents and thought how to 'make up' for it, oughhhh...

"I'm afraid Surge and Kitsunami found out I'm alive- if they find me again I'm sure as dead. This is the only place I have proper sanctuary, in excange bending to the doctor's every will and desire as I had done before he kicked me out the first time... I don't think I mind though..."

Is he thinking about that kiss- what are you talking about.

But, regarding Captive Prince AUs-

We all like the "Auguste Live AU" I've been writing one myself, but I had a dream about CaPri today and I thought to myself what if we had:

(Note: Some of those AU had probably been done before, and If you know any good ones like that you are welcome to leave recs on the comments.)

1. Damen is actually a soldier from the Akielon army instead of the prince.

I have to think this one through but I think my half-asleep brain thought about a complete change of dynamic while Damen is not the one who killed Auguste.

2. A...modern Royalty AU?

I think it's possible someone else had thought about this one, I mean something similar to RW&RB, but instead of how Alex is a politician they both are princes from modern Royal Families, not ones that necessarily exist in our reality.

3. Make it actually Historical and not part of Fictional countries AU.

This one might exist somewhere as well- I am not sure about historically accurate while Damen is Middle Eastern-ish (I am talking about the botanics and the nature in Akielon that are clearly Middle Eastern) Roman? And Laurent is French?

4. Detectives AU

Laurent Being the Sherlock and Damen being the Watson obviously. But like, a true murder mystery, with a romance sub-plot, not the other way around.

5.a Dancers AU

Can't write this one since I don't understand enough of the Dancing world (And I am talking about professional dancing), but I guess that with enough research-

5.b Comcert Band AU

Definitely can write this once since I have experience with it, especially Wind concert bands 👀 and I might as well do it.

6. In my dream...

Laurent was a Painter, probably some kind of court painter and Damen was a Spy. Specific? VERY. But I can't deny it's cool.

7. Library AU

LAURENT IS LIBRARIAN AND DAMEN IS LIKE, A FOREIGN EXCANGE STUDENT WHO COMES TO THE CLOSENT LIBRARY TO STUDY AND THEY LIKE, FALL IN LOVE AND DAMEN TAKES SOME RECS TO IMPRESS HIM AND THEN FALL IN LOVE WITH READING? LIKE IN SOME "The Last Bookshop in London" situation. (Dose anyone know this wonderful book?)

Bonus for this AU: Laurent is a student for some kind of scientific feild who dreams to be an Author and write a novel in secret.

8. Mafia x Police AU

I though about this one a while ago, Laurent is a police officer and Damen is a member of the mafia. He is a son of a mafia boss and there is all of the canon-like Kastor kills Theomedes and sends him to the version of the Regent for this AU, Damen killed Auguste a while ago and He knows Laurent will kill him if he knows of his identity. Instead of preventing a war between Akielos and Vere in Prince Gambit, in this AU they try to keep their country in peace.

I can develop each of them into a long molti-chapters fic, I swear.

Shuichi being the babysitter for the Ouma family

hear me out- Ouma family has a young kid right? and while usualy Kokichi gets put up to the task of watching after his lil sibling sometimes he has to go to an event too where the lil sibling can't (usually because the event goes past bedtime). and so- Shuichi babysitter

the bit here tho is the first time they hired Shuichi Kokichi was instantly smitten by him, and throughout the whole event Kokichi had cute babysitter on the brain. when they came back they found that Shuichi- while he did succeed at keeping the child safe and putting them to bed- did not have an easy time with it because the child is a menace.

despite this clear issue with Shuichi babysitting for them, Kokichi does everything in his power to assure Shuichi stays their go to babysitter when Kokichi is unavailable because he's too gay for Shuichi, and too not normal to just ask him out. Kokichi actually goes as far as getting the child in on it by excanging good behavior and info on the cute babysitter for dessert at forbidden times.

to be fair- Shuichi is also downbad for Kokichi and can't be normal about it either due to social anxiety, he's willing to survive the demon child to see Kokichi again. he also gets the bonus of hearing questionably true stories about Kokichi from said demon child

what was i gonna say again? oh right, i know i'm delusional for this, but i just find Cat and Rimmer's dynamic so hypnotizing to watch. the jojo-string excange in series I the smear campaign they ran together, it's just so clear they don't care about the other but it's so interesting to watch whenever they do stuff together because they're so dubious about it. anyway, please let me pretend that there's a universe where they have an unspoken agreement where Rimmer paints Cat's nails all kinds of pretty and deatailed but they never mention it, because of course they still detest eachother. hear me out okay, it gets pretty boring in space, Rimmer likes to paint and finess, Cat likes to be coordinated in his outfits, they have somehow come to an understanding where, when nothing's going on, Cat will appear infront or Rimmer with some inspo, like the newest outfit he has sown or a photograph from a magazine, it's a brief excange and they part ways, later that day they convene in some secluded area, somehow managing to not acknowlige eachother's excistence beyond their own benefits, and they never talk about it afterwards because they would still very much leave the other to die given the chanse. don't stone me at the plank for this, i just find them the most fascinating duo of them all and i am rotting having nothing to analyze

Sonic and Nine. Is not betrayal. Is a cultural shock

Nine doesn't consider Pyongyang New Yolk his home. So he doesn't miss it if he goes somewhere else.

It happened that when he meet Sonic, he discovered the existence of the prisms and the shatterspace, though he discovered the empty Grim first.

The Grim is a Mars-like world, (without the umpleasant effect such as freezing or disappearing of the magnetic field etc...). On the contrary it can be considered a primordial world. There was a time where auroras were visible on the whole Earth when the magnetic field was forming. That glowing red in the Grim is an aurora, it really gives an image on Nine's world: 'Is empty, pretty grim. Is perfect!'

Sonic understood Nine doesn't consider New Yolk world his home. But he has another idea: "Well, you can come to my home!". Sonic's idea is a world where you are completely free. You can do whatever you want, move where you want, eat what you want, live some adventure and also stop Dr.Eggman from taking over, the latter is the only responsibility you truly have. A perfect place for Nine in Sonic's mind. There is also Tails, they can excange some tips since they're both scientists.

The Dr. Kim Jong-un, or, as I call him, Dr. "Cicciobello".

Sonic and Nine did one mistake (a normal mistake especially by so young characters like them, 15 and 8 years old, thinking their ideal world is best). Nine grew up in a North Korea-like tiranny, where even being friends is forbidden. The chaos council robots tried to kill a kitten and a puppy just because they were showing friendly behaviour. So for him a better world is one where he can live in peace, but still similar to the tiranny where he grew up (only things workd the way Nine wants). He wants keep Sonic for himself, trapped like a pet. In this aspect Nine is just like Chris Thorndyke From Sonic-X. The difference is that Chris is a spoiled brat nobody cares about (not even Sonic Fans), Nine is more capable, more loved by fans. He is a villain, the main antagonist, but we all would love to see what he is going to do, and hoping for the best outcome.

Sonic on the other hand grew in total freedom. But I already describled what his world is like.

Is their so different culture, their totally different point of view (They can't undersand the point of view of the other) that made them feel betrayed. I think in the end pieces will come togheter.
