My favourite thing about this fandom is that the canon story has so many characters that are just bad guys - no explanation, no questions, they’re just bad. But this fandom takes those characters and loves them and adds backstory and reasons why those characters mad those “bad” decisions because no one is born a “bad guy” right? Not Reggie, not Barty, not Bella, not even Tom :) And the idolized and well-renowned characters like Dumbledore? We take them down a notch, because no one is born perfect either. I love that. It makes it all feel so much more human and approachable and accepting.
Reblog if you feel the same! I feel like this aspect of the fandom needs some love :)

i have many issues with the Harry Potter books/movies but one of them is Peter Pettigrew' character. Like JKR made the only Gryffindor antagonist be ugly and fat (even pre animagus) and implied that the sorting hat made a mistake putting him in Gryffindor by making him a hatstall and a coward.
Like Peter should have been such an interesting character since he was the main antagonist that's not Slytherin and he betrayed all his friends but instead he is boring and makes no sense.
So what if instead of fear it were some of his Gryffindor traits that pushed him to the dark, like he actually believed in Voldemort's cause and so by joining him he actually saw himself as being brave or being a hero and he was too stubborn, reckless, and prideful to consider other ways. And yes, you'd need a backstory on why Peter came to the conclusion Voldemort is right, but it would be way more interesting and scarier and more tragic.
Instead of poor foolish Peter being too scared to say no to Voldemort you get cunning Peter choosing Voldemort over his friends.
TLDR: Peter Pettigrew should never have been portrayed as weak and foolish and cowardly because it diminishes the tragedy of his betrayal and undermines the fact that he was a Gryffindor.

With Halloween upon us, I come with some festive questions, maybe you wanna answer?
- Which marauder would be the most likely to enjoy horror movies?
- Who tells the best ghost stories?
- Party at the Gryffindor tower! What are they dressing up as?
- Who was the best at impersonations?
- Which marauder was the most likely to have befriended the Moaning Myrtle?
- Who has the most respectful relationship with Peeves? (Whatever that may be)
- Who’s the most squirmish with blood? Who’s the least?
- Who thought about dying the most?
Spooky! Happy halloween.
Thanks for the ask! I love these questions!
Which marauder would be the most likely to enjoy horror movies?
Sirius and Remus. I think they both can appreciate the macabre
I think Sirius would probably lean more into psychological horrors and trippy mind fuck films
I see Remus as actually being into gory body horror. He experiences extreme body horror himself every month and I can see him having a very interesting and particular relationship with things of this nature. I also think he’d like super shitty slashers.
Here’s some letterboxd lists of a few films I think they’d be into: Sirius - Remus
- Who tells the best ghost stories?
Well I think Sirius is the best story teller in general, in GOF his tale of the 1st war was pretty gripping (oppose to the Lupin POA werewolf school story that was long winded as hell). I also think Sirius is capable of making a story sound super spooky and unnerving
- Party at the Gryffindor tower! What are they dressing up as?
I like the idea of a really stupid group costume, but worn under ironic pretense (allegedly).
But more importantly what is Lily going as? (It’s Carrie)
- Who was the best at impersonations?
I’m going to go with Peter because I feel like he’s the best actor
- Which marauder was the most likely to have befriended the Moaning Myrtle?
Remus for sure, I think he has the most patience and tends to be more understanding.
- Who has the most respectful relationship with Peeves? (Whatever that may be)
Again I want to say Remus but based on the scene from POA it still wasn’t very respectful (he shot gum up his nose)
- Who's the most squirmish with blood?
My natural response was to say Peter but then I remembered that bruh literally cut his own hand off, so I’m not sure if that’s fair.
When James got a bloody gash on his cheek he didn’t react in a very squeamish way, so I don’t think it’s him either.
Sirius’ reaction to being bit by a snuffbox is one of fascination, so again I can’t imagine him being super squeamish.
I’m actually going to go with Lupin. He obviously would be experiencing more contact with blood than any of them on a regular basis due to his transformations but I can still see him uncomfortable at the sights of his wounds.
Who's the least?
Peter, he’s cut off multiple parts of his body and exploded 12 people, I don’t think blood is too much of an issue
- Who thought about dying the most?
Depends on what part of their lives. If we’re only limiting this to school then probably Lupin, but overall they all would have death very present on the mind.

Headcannon that Peter and Remus were as close James and Sirius were
Headcannon that Peter took the blame for the prank because he knew that it would break Remus if he were ever to know the truth
Headcannon that James had no idea, as Peter had found Sirius first after the incident
Headcannon that Peter was completely outlawed by everyone but Sirius, and even he could barely get away with talking to him without raising suspicion
Headcannon that he was eventually forgiven but never quite treated and trusted as one of the group ever again
Headcannon that Peter grew resentful and bitter over the course of time, which led to his eventual betrayal of James and Lily
Headcannon that when Sirius was dragged away to Azkaban by the aurors, he was no longer laughing manically, but sobbing hysterically
‘I’m sorry Pete, it should’ve been me, I’m so sorry’

This absolute gem from p.552 chapter 23 of choices by Messermoon
'Without a word Sirius reaches over and cuffs Peter on the back of the head.
“Ow, what the hell!”
“Where’s your loyalty Wormtail?” Sirius demands. “Bitches before witches.”
“Wait, hold on,” Lily says, still laughing. “Does that make you three the bitches?”
“Absolutely,” Sirius answers without hesitation"
(This was all because Peter wanted to sit with his new girlfriend instead of the marauder for a singular meal mind you)
I can't I love these interactions so much 😂😂🤣🤣

Who was Peter Pettigrew? A marauder? A Gryffindor? A friend of James Potter? All these answers were true but none of them showed who he really was. Actually, that's untrue, they showed exactly who he was to others. The forgotten boy. Never as handsome, never as smart and never as interesting as his friends. Nothing special just the fourth to their group. Of course he knew that to the marauders he was special, that they knew him and loved him but at some point that no longer sufficed. He wanted everyone to know him. To know that he isn't just the fourth marauder but a real person. He wanted respect, individuality he wanted what they all had but he never manged to earn. How was he supposed to know that the way he eventually earned this respect, this individuality, was but getting rid of those who knew him, those who saw him? But still those who would never suspected him...
