There's something to be said about how we never find Mary-Ann, only other people's dreams of her. Fragments.

Both Rene and Ann muse that maybe Mary-Ann never existed, and in a sense it's true. There obviously was a girl once, but that girl is not what any of them are searching for, not really.

once again i am thinking about the fact that jakob only uses rene's name on the eve of his return, and narzissenkreuz only goes by rene because that's how mary-ann recognises him, and narzissenkreuz never once mentions jakob by name... how at the start of the quests it's mary-ann whose absence is most keenly felt, but by the end it is alain who seems to have shaped the world the most, and yet we never get to see (excluding neuvillette's cutscene, of course.) is it guillotin's world in that alain was the one whose ideals best shaped it, or guillotin's world in that everything comes back to mary-ann at the end?

it’s so funny because the whole season was spent with like adaine oisin flirting, Fabian ivy flirting, fig creating a woman for Ruben to fall in love with, hell, even people shipping kipperlilly and Kristen and me specifically making jokes about kipperlilly having a crush on riz, and yet the bad kid x rat grinder ship that was canonized was better than I could have ever imagined

Imagine Mary Ann and Gorgug cuddling while Mary Ann is playing on her switch or something. Gorgug is watching her play, making small comments on her game play.

After a while, Gorgug gently guides her face from the switch, to look at him. He leans in close, closing his eyes as he prepares to kiss her.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Her Quokki pet starts making noise, signaling that it desires attention. Without hesitation, Mary Ann places her hand over Gorgug's mouth, pushing him away a little as she picks up her Quokki pet. "Mini Gorgug needs something, hold on." She says in her usual neutral tone.

Gorgug sighs, but he just smiles, he can't even be mad because he knows this is how she is. And he's already feeling flattered and warm over the fact that she named her newest Quokki pet after him.

Jamie's relationship to alcohol/drug is a complicated magter, even before...direct influence comes into play. So many factors come into play, many outside their own influence.

The social attitude at the time very much allowed them to be brought into contact with things at a younger age than they perhaps would have otherwise, not to mention how common it was in the social areas and artsy scenes they frequent, back on the surface and on the neath. It was and is practically expected of them.

We've all seen the texts about the bohemian faction after all.

This mixes rather poorly with Jamie's individual circumstances. Trauma and mental illness can make one vulnerable to these things. Combined with the unknown issue of highly impacting ADHD, Jamie leans often into fully unaware self medicating to help themself function in the day to day. A few times becomes habit, a process becomes routine, and they don't even realize what is ongoing until things are far, far too late.

And there's something to be said, for how those who are vulnerable and struggle with mental illness, can often be targeted by those who are predatory.
