MIKAGE REO
— once this boy decides on a preference he's not stopping or let alone find another thing that will interest him and since he discovered the existence of ✨fat girls✨ it hasn't been the same for him. he charms and woos them and of course spoils them. no one will dare to ask reo about why cause there's nothing to wonder about.
OLIVER AIKU
— this man is a womanizer. whoever have the pussy he's going and what's better with a pussy that is plump and soft belonging to a fat girl. he's converted. is similar to a dog who salivates after seeing a bone and oliver's shooting his shot at you the moment he laid eyes on you.
RYUSEI SHIDOU
— freak. can someone match this man's freak? turns out there is someone and how satiated he is to find someone. a fat girl to calm this man's need or worsens it. a big menace to bigger girls. wanting to get crushed by their weight and just feel them all over.
special mentions: KARASU, GAGAMARU, KIRA, OTOYA, SNUFFY, JULIEN
NAGI SEISHIRO
— he don't like it but trust me he like big girls. whose homely and bodies warms him and it was straight up heaven for this lazy boy. cuddles and cuddles and cuddles. this boy wants all the comfort and having a soft girlfriend, he's complete.
ITOSHI SAE
— man is built like he'd gone from war. he needs someone to remind him of home and that comes in the form of a soft fat girl that offers him all goodness what life has to offer. he sees them as someone who isn't too the usual girl who comes to flirt and get what they want from him. you're just you and it's enough for a man to rest easy for the rest of his days.
ITOSHI RIN
— he don't need to tell it. always been attracted to girls who are plush. nice and round. an extra on them. gets all starry-eyed when he sees one and his mind drifts into somewhere faraway where he and you only exists.
IKKO NIKKI
— mysterious as he can go. see that closet of his? don't open it. opening it is like pandora's box but it's the good one. filled with goodness of fuller figures in different magazines and manga. sweet girls with fat bodies being folded in any ways. you might also want to stay from his history. it's full of hentai with fat girls as protagonists.
ALEXIS NESS
— he got shamed for a lot of things. in turn baby boy learned to keep things secret and that includes his types on girls. big girls who carries themselves with such confidence that his heart is bursting from love he felt for them. to his eyes they are such beautiful creatures similar to his magic and it's enough for him to stare and maybe get lucky.
special mentions: ISAGI, HIORI, KAISER, JINPACHI, NOEL, SNUFFY

°`🍨: Kei Tsukishima + First Years x GN! Reader
°`🍨: Being a bet hurt so damn much
Tumblr media
You knew boys were dumb with their stupid puberty that makes them go crazy. You knew from the beginning that first year high school will probably feel and also end like middle school all over again but you still felt disappointed. Disappointed to actually believe that it will not happen again and to fell for a tall, handsome and surprisingly intelligent boy until someone tries to attack his ego. You should have known that suddenly getting friends and being confessed to was too perfect for your boring and lonely life.
Realizing that was when you stand beside the clubroom door of the volleyball team. Silently listening to the boys, who talked while changing to their sport outfits. You didn't want to eavesdrop but when you heard your name, you couldn't stop listening. Clutching the straps of your bag in your hand. Biting on your trembling lips while blinking away your tears. Placing the fabric of Tsukishimas Jacket to your mouth so you wouldn't accidentally let out a sob. Doing all of this just to hear that everything was a lie. Being friends with you out of pity. Your relationship only being a bet. It hurt so damn much. "Oi Tsukishima ! How does the lover boy feel to almost reach the third month of your relationship ~?", you heard Tanaka's booming voice through the door. Then it was silent for a short moment until the tall one answered: "Made me realize that relationships robbing me from my precious time and I can't wait to be free, but seeing your faces when you lose is actually worth it". Ouch. Being a bet wasn't something new to you and he knew it. He was the one that told you about it in middle school and now he does the same. You heard more chaotic screaming and laughing, not really able to believe that all the first year knew about it and also the second years you saw as reliable senpais. You then also heard Kageyama talk: "I'm not good with people like her, it feels suffocating to even just stand beside her." Then Hinata continued: "At least she isn't boring!". It hurt so damn much. Not able to listen anymore, you slowly walk down the stairs. Walking past the third years that greeted you happily but you only gave them a nod and a small bow before you started to sprint so they couldn't see the tears in your eyes. You knew boys were stupid but you were also dumb for thinking it would get better. You wished the world would just swallow you whole to stop your suffering.
It felt weird. Eating alone after having finally some people to talk to about hobbies and homework. It also felt rude to just run and ignore them when they tried to talk to you. But you were so hurt and unable to trust them anymore. Not knowing what was a lie, a bet or the truth made your heart crumble in your chest. Seeing them look confused also fed the guilt in your stomach. You should be a better friend. Less boring, less annoying and more how they wanted you to be but this was not possible. Changing took a lot of energy that you didn't have. All the joy you felt until this tragic day, left you completely. Only an empty feeling remained. Looking at Tsukishima from far away didn't make your heart beat faster anymore, it only brought tear to your eyes. Seeing the chaotic duo of Hinata and Kageyama only made it hard to speak without your voice cracking. Feeling the hand of Yamaguchi on your shoulder when he tried to give you something back, made you tense and stiff. Walking through the school made you fear that everyone knew how stupid you were to fall for this bet and how they would start to laugh at your suffering. It took Nishinoya by surprise when you jumped out of your skin when he greeted you at the entrance of the school and how fast you ended your conversation when it sometimes went on until he needed to run to his class. Ah they suddenly started to feel it. The empty place since you weren't there anymore. It even bugged Tsukishima more when he didn't get any answers from you after he messaged you. It also started to hurt. Made his heart sting seeing you not looking at him anymore. His fist shook beside him seeing you smile at Sugawara but something like sadness took over his feelings when your face dropped to a neutral expression when the third year disappeared. Something wasn't right but he didn't know how to fix it. In the first time of his life, he felt heartbroken and unable to decide what to do. How unfortunate that everyone around you and him were just so stupid and dumb.
Tumblr media
°`🍨: Tadaaaa ~ Another one but it's not really Tsukishima focused but it also is 🤔
°`🍨: REQUESTS ARE OPEN until 25th of Aug.

PLEASE I BEG YOU YN MOMMY ISSUES LORE FROM CALLOUSED HANDS AND THE LORE ABT HOW THE BAND FEELS ABT IT 😓😓😓🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
alright mommy issues lore let’s go
content warnings: bad mom lore
yn and her mother did not ever have a good relationship
she didnt ever want to be a mom in the first place.
she was young when she got pregnant and did not have the support of her family
it was yn’s father that talked her into raising their child together
and for the first few years of yn’s life it was okay. fine.
her earliest memory is the blurry face of her father holding her hand as they walked down the street
but then her dad decided that maybe that he was too young for the life of a father and one day yn realized he was just gone
& that’s kinda when it started going downhill
yn’s mother sort of felt abandoned by everyone in her life and took the hurt and pain from that and placed it on her daughter
and instead of loving her she felt jealous and resentful and hateful
and yn could always tell from the time she was really young that she was not loved by her mother
it was obvious
mostly yn’s memories of her mom are just screaming matches
her mom would pick fights at random and criticize her and would always push her to fight back
and could be very controlling and possessive of yn
so as a result yn became very argumentative and defiant
she would bite back and it would just get worse and worse
and it was just that for her whole life
so she moved out with nishinoya and tanaka literally as soon as she could
and has been roommates with them since
the last knock out drag down fight she had with her mom wad on the day she moved out
and her mom was alone and did not have anyone else she could take her anger out on
when things get bad for her is when she starts to track down yn again to torment her to feel better abt herself
nishinoya has always known about yn’s mom
he’s seen firsthand the way her mother would treat her
like she had no issue belittling her daughter in front of others
and as a result nishinoya became pretty defensive and protective when it came to yn
he’s always had her back
nishinoya always spent as much time with her as possible so she wouldn’t have to deal with it alone
he always wanted to stand up to her mother but was always worried she would find a way to separate them if he did
so he just almost became aggressively defensive of her at school or in public
even if someone wanted to try to bully her they’d have to pick someone else bc nishinoya was not going to let anyone else make her life worse
and he felt bad that he never said anything to her mom when they were kids
which is why he has no issue screaming at her now as adults
tanaka got banned from yn’s house the first time he came over
her mother tried tried to pick a fight and tanaka said something along the lines of “why would you talk to your kid like that”
he didn’t really get the full picture and didn’t realize that he kinda made things worse
after that he never really knew what to do about the whole situation & was afraid to make it worse again
so he had sort of an open door policy when it came to yn
whenever a fight got bad or yn was kicked out for the night it was tanaka’s house she went to
and he didn’t know what to say but he would stay up at night playing shitty songs or watching movies or playing video games until yn started to feel better
and saeko started calling yn her honorary little sister
tanaka could always lighten the mood for her and make her forget about everything bad that happened
and his house became her safe space
tanaka still feels a bit guilty that maybe he didn’t do or say the right thing but he’s glad she was able to go his place when she needed a break
yachi started to suspect something was weird when yn’s mom would call or text during band practices and yn’s mood would take a 180
but it wasn’t until a few months into their friendship yn started gradually telling her about what her relationship was like with her mom
yachi was aghast and genuinely almost cried
she’s had issues with her mom before so she thought she could relate a bit but it wasn’t really the same situation
yachi was just heartbroken and has a difficult time imagining what it was like for yn
but she always lends an ear whenever yn wants to cry or complain or yell about it
she admires yn for the way she endures it and yn admires yachi for her patience and understanding
and talking about it sort of strengths their bond a lot
and grows their trust with each other
the older yachi gets the less scared she gets of the situation and more angry
but always buries the anger down whenever yn needs to talk
kiyoko didn’t really need to be told their relationship was poor to say the least, she just kind of put the pieces together observationally
she didn’t really talk much about it to yn and yn didn’t really bring it up too often other than to say something like “i hate my mom” or “my moms the worst”
but kiyoko would subtly try to get away from her mom as much as she could
clubs, study groups, volunteer work, whatever it was, kiyoko would drag yn into it
not that she expected her to participate but just bc she knew yn was in a better mood whenever she wasn’t around her mom
like kiyoko was always eager to have a sleepover at her place whenever possible and invited yn over almost every weekend
and yn always went along bc she knew what kiyoko was doing
and was also honestly grateful to have that much extra time with her friend
so even though they were all young they did their best to look out for her
and yn is grateful that through the difficulty they kind of became more like a family than any actual family she had
so even though things were rocky in the first part of her life she’s very grateful for how her life ended up
and is excited to see what growth she’ll have in the future
and she thinks she has that chance to grow because she had people looking out for her

HQ headcannons bc i need a life!
Daichi:
- he has 4 siblings, this man gives such older brother vibes but at the same time older sister vibes so idrk-
- i’ve decided he has 2 older sisters, and 2 younger siblings (brother & sister)
- this man can’t go a day without out cussing. i’m fully convinced that he doesn’t cuss a lot, but when he does it’s only the word ‘fuck’ and it’s usually said under his breath and ever so hostile.
- when he went to college he would ask the underclassmen to watch over his younger sib’s when he wasn’t in town.
- Yachi would make stickers and keychains and stuff for Kiyoko & Tanaka’s gym and would mail them to Daichi every time a new design came out
Kageyama:
- his sister labels all of his sweatshirts with his name on the tag
- when tsukki found out he started to check the tags randomly and would make fun of him
- kags sister plays in a band for fun and they do gigs on the weekends at bars n stuff, so every once in a while the team goes to eat after a game and will listen to her play!
- hinata was trying to figure out why kags hated his hair, and yachi told him “it’s probably bc he’s allergic to oranges!” and now hinata won’t let him live it down.
- kageyama has a couple random things in his room that he bought purely bc they reminded him of his friends, no one knows this tho
- in his sisters phone his contact is “little yama” eng
-in his phone his sisters name is “big yama”eng, but everyone thought is was a typo for ‘big mama’ and daichi hit him on the head bc he thought he was calling his mother fat.
- he knows how to play a little guitar, but only bc his sister told him she wasn’t gonna play volleyball with him anymore and he still wanted to hang out with her.
Asahi:
- when he was younger he was obsessed with fashion and when he saw a pretty outfit or smth, he was asked people about it but once he hit age 10 people started getting scared and running away and that’s how he got his whole “i’m scary and ugly looking” complex
- he once lost a bet in second year to nishinoya and dyed a strand of his hair purple, it was an under layer so you couldn’t really see it u less he pointed it out.
- noya felt bad and dyed his bleached part purple too
- asahi has a younger and older sister, and knows how to do fancy braids and other hairstyles!
- he actually grew out his hair bc his sister wanted/is now a cosmetologist, and wanted to deal with a real persons hair but hers was to short😭
- he used his mom as a mannequin in college for summer projects, but when he became a famous designer he has his mom model his first few designs and his newest designs for a show.
- the videos of that show blew up on yt and tiktok bc everyone was saying “our favorite designer showing that even famous, you can still love your parents!” and on live someone read him that comment and he bursted out laughing and said “plenty of people love their parents even when famous, you just don’t see them as often”
- he was wheezing the entire time trying to explain himself

𝐙𝐎𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
Tumblr media
fandom: haikyuu ship: nishinoya yuu x oc/reader status: complete ao3 link
"I think you're really pretty. Will you go out with me?" That was the first thing he's ever said to her. And needless to say, Amari Chiyo was not impressed. So as promised, Nishinoya Yuu will get to know her better and confess again. And again. And again. And again. It'll take 6 years and 9 confessions, but he'll get there. Eventually.
⌦ content: fluff, light angst, love at first sight, friends to lover, slice of life, haikyuu manga spoilers
⌦ note: stay tuned, because there are two extra stories after this one. an epilogue and a side story!
story masterlist | previous chapter | a side story (coming soon)
Tumblr media
The final confession was on the last day of school — under the cherry blossoms after their graduation ceremony.
Chiyo was on her way home, carrying both her school bag and black certificate tube when a soft breeze blew by. She stopped in her tracks, holding her hair back to prevent it from being whisked up alongside the rain of pink petals. Her gaze followed a few flew toward the sun.
The ceremony went by relatively quickly. They walked the stage, sang the school anthem, then the student council president gave a farewell speech as a representative of the graduating students.
When Chiyo went on stage to receive her diploma, she was surprised to see her father sitting at the back of the gym, amongst the sea of parents with the proudest grin she’s ever seen. He had taken the morning off to be present at this major milestone in his daughter’s life. But alas, money didn’t make itself and the Amari family still needed to eat. So after a few heartfelt words, taking a couple of photos and giving her the tightest hug humanly possible, Chiyo’s father was back in the car on his way to work.
Being a graduate meant she also had a half-day of school. So after seeing her father off, Chiyo spent some time with her friends and classmates. They took pictures with the teachers, signed each other’s yearbooks and spent their last hour or so reminiscing on the past three years they’d spent together. In which Chiyo spent most of her time wiping away her friends’ snot and tears with tissues.
Once the midday mark hit, her classmates said their final goodbyes. Everyone made promises that this wouldn’t be the last time they got together. She then went to go find Nishinoya, catching a glimpse of him and the other graduates in the volleyball gym, giving a few last words of encouragement and advice to their underclassman.
She hesitated at first, but in the end, decided to head home on her own. He was going to come over for dinner anyways and he deserved time to say a proper goodbye to the volleyball team he loved so much.
Chiyo squinted a little, holding a hand against her eyes to block out the glaring sunlight. She thought of her classmates and friends – people she’s grown accustomed to seeing every day. Soon, that routine will change and those people will melt into a distant memory. Maybe they’ll be dug up once or two per year to gather and reminisce over drinks and dinner. But otherwise, they will remain just that — a memory. A memory that’ll contribute to shaping who she’ll become in the future.
She then thought of Nishinoya. Unlike most of her classmates and friends, she’s known him for far longer. Sure, he will probably still drop by for dinner every now and then. But without the excuse of school and tutoring sessions, they probably wouldn’t be able to see each other as often as they used to. Someday, would Nishinoya become nothing but a distant memory as well?
A pain began to swell within her chest.
Chiyo took a deep breath. She was about to shake off those nagging thoughts and continue on her way when a familiar voice suddenly called out to her from behind.
“Hey!”
Chiyo spun around, to see Nishinoya sprinting towards her at full speed with his messenger bag and certificate tube. He stopped in front of her, hunching over with his hands on his knees.
“Yuu?” Her eyes were wide.
“You… You just ran off!” Nishinoya panted, wiping some sweat from his chin. “I thought we were going to your place.”
“For dinner, tonight.” Chiyo raised an eyebrow. “It’s only midday. You can go home, you know.”
“But there’s nothing to do at home,” Nishinoya pouted as he stood up straight, readjusting his messenger bag over his shoulder. “We also don’t have any food. Well, we don’t have any instant noodles but you get the point.”
“My house isn’t a restaurant, Yuu.”
“See, you always say that but you end up feeding me anyways,” Nishinoya grinned cheekily.
“Fine,” heaving a sigh, she turned on her heel and began to walk. “What do you want?”
“Yaki udon!” Nishinoya cheered, following after her with a fist pump.
“Alright, alright,” Chiyo chuckled at his enthusiasm. “Can you pick Hotaru and Kaito up from school then? I wanna clean the house  before dinner.”
“Yeah, of course,” he nodded. “What are we having by the way?”
“Sushi. Dad said he’ll get some on the way home.”
“Oh, is Amari-san coming home early tonight?”
“Yeah,” a small smile grew on her face. “He was at the ceremony too.”
“Oh, I saw! He said hi to me as we were heading back to our classrooms,” he then stretched his arms upwards with a satisfied sigh. “Man, Eguchi-san’s speech was great.”
Chiyo's face fell.
“Especially that part about how life is like a song, except it’s all jumbled up. And graduating is getting the melody straight so we can spend the rest of our lives figuring out the lyrics. It’s such a great, erm…” He snapped his fingers. “What’s the word for that again?”
“Metaphor.”
“Yeah, that!” Nishinoya nodded. “Anyways, it was great! Super inspirational. But I guess that’s the student council prez for you.”
Chiyo’s eyes flickered to the ground. She stayed silent for a moment longer before finally asking, “So, what are your plans now?”
“I told you already, didn’t I?” Nishinoya raised an eyebrow. “I’m gonna keep working at gramps’ bike shop for a while to save up money.”
“I mean your travel plans, dummy.”
“Oh, that!” He laughed. “Right, I haven’t told you where I’ve decided yet. My first destination will be…” He rolled his tongue for a bit to imitate the sound of a drumroll. “... Peru!”
Chiyo dropped her school bag.
“South America?” She stopped and stared at him. “That’s… pretty far.”
“Well, I figured I might as well strike big on my first step, you know?” Nishinoya stopped a little ahead of her, glancing back with a huge grin. “Go big or go home!”
There was a brief pause.
“...Sounds exciting,” when Chiyo finally spoke, her voice was quiet yet honest. “It’s very… you.”
“Thanks!” Nishinoya then turned his attention toward the blue skies above and let out a deep sigh. “This is it then, huh? Like Eguchi-san said in her speech, it feels like the end of an era.”
Chiyo’s lips parted.
There it was again - that pain in her chest. That nagging fear that one day, Nishinoya would grow out of her reach, like the fleeting pink petals caught in a breeze. Her hands clammed up around the plastic certificate tube.
“I like you.”
The words came out before she even had the time to process them and Nishinoya’s eyes went wide.
“What?” His words were barely audible as he turned to face her fully.
“I said I like you.”
“Chiyo-”
“I know,” before he even had the chance to respond, Chiyo cut him off and covered her face. “I know this is selfish of me. And I know it’s unfair 'cause you’ve asked me out so, so many times but I just…” She could feel her nose sore. “I don’t know…. I just… I didn’t think I deserved all that time and energy you wasted on me all these years.”
“And I also knew you wanted to travel the world and that just… it just wasn’t in my plans for the future,” she crouched down, trying to hold back the tears that stung at the rim of her eyes. “I was supposed to stay in Japan for the rest of my life. Get into some big corporate company and slave away until I die. So we would’ve been long distance. Like super long distance… I just… I can’t handle that. But now things are different and I…” she choked. “I can’t imagine a future without you.”
The cherry blossoms rustled as Chiyo pressed the base of her palms into her eyes to stop the tears from leaking out.
“It’s okay if you don’t like anymore,” she whispered. “It’s okay if you’ve moved on. I just want you to stay in my life, even if it’s-”
But before she could finish that sentence, a pair of arms were thrown around her neck, toppling her over as she gasped in surprise. Chiyo tensed at first, only to relax when she realized what was happening.
“Yuu?”
“Say it again,” he murmured into the crook of her neck.
“Huh?”
“Say it again please.”
Chiyo blinked as a tear rolled down her cheek. Did he not hear her?
“I-It’s okay if you don’t like me anymore-”
“No, not that part,” Nishinoya shook his head, pulling back to stare her dead in the eye. “That part’s irrelevant. Never gonna happen. I mean how you feel about me. I wanna hear it again.”
A surge of heat rose to her face as Chiyo realized what he was implying. She dropped her head.
“I… like you,” after a moment of trying to calm her rampant emotions, she finally managed to squeeze those words out as she met his gaze once more.
“I like how outgoing you are…” She continued to speak as Nishinoya pressed his palms to her cheeks. “I like how kind and funny you are. I like how you can cheer anyone up, just by being yourself. I like how you always do your best to help other people. I like how you can always push forward with a smile,” her eyes crinkled. “I really really like you, Yuu-”
Through her rambling, she failed to notice Nishinoya slowly leaning in with every word. But once she finally did, his lips had already crashed against hers like a gentle wave. Chiyo’s eyes grew wide with surprise as warmth blossomed in her chest.
Nishinoya smelled faintly of sweat and oxidized metal. And combined with the smell of sulfur from his shampoo, it was almost dizzying. His lips were wet and a little stiff, but before Chiyo could fully process what was happening, she let her eyes fall shut and kissed him back.
After what felt like an eternity, Nishinoya slowly pulled away. “That’s good,” his voice was barely a whisper. “Cause I really really like you too.”
At his gentle words, Chiyo’s heart swelled. Her nose was all stuffed up and she could barely breathe, but this was the most exhilarated she’s felt for as long as she could remember. Her blue eyes started to water once more as she pursed her lips.
“Hey, hey,” Nishinoya’s face flooded with panic once he noticed the tears brimming the corner of Chiyo’s eyes. He jumped back, letting go of her and holding his hands in the air as if he’s done something wrong. “Oh god, I’m sorry. Please don’t cry. I don’t know what came over me, you just looked so cute so I wanted to kiss you and-”
“No, you idiot,” Chiyo laughed a little between hiccups, rubbing the moisture away with the sleeve of her uniform blazer. “These are happy tears.”
“Really?” Nishinoya blinked, relaxing a little once she nodded. “Alright. Cause I was gonna ask if I can kiss you again.”
Chiyo glanced at him. For a moment, her gaze wandered from left to right, as if she were afraid to be spotted by someone on this secluded street. But she then bit her bottom lip and turned to face him straight on. She rested a hand against his cheek and guided his lips towards hers for another kiss.
This time, it was soft and chaste. Perhaps Nishinoya had already gotten used to the sensation and adapted accordingly. There were no sparks flying or booming fireworks like in the movies or mangas, just a simple spring breeze that weaved through her hair. But to Chiyo, it was more than enough. It was simple, sweet and intimate.
It was all she could’ve asked for.
When they separated, Nishinoya leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers. And to her surprise, his cheeks were dusted a light pink like the cherry blossoms swaying overhead.
“So what’s the plan?” He placed his hands over hers on the concrete roads. “Did you wanna come with me?”
Chiyo nodded. “I’m thinking I wanna become a food journalist,” she said, studying the faint twinkle in his brown eyes. “I want to travel and write about all the different kinds of delicious food the world has to offer,” she paused for a bit. “Then someday, when I’m older, I want to settle down somewhere. Maybe in Japan, maybe somewhere far, far away.”
She hesitated a bit but Nishinoya squeezed her hand as if encouraging her to continue.
“And I wanna try maybe opening a… restaurant.”
Nishinoya’s entire face brightened.
“That sounds like a great plan,” his response was as swift and sincere as ever. “It’s very you.”
“Thanks,” Chiyo chuckled but her face quickly fell as a looming sense of anxiety took over. “Do you… think it’s possible?” She asked nervously and Nishinoya shrugged.
“Who knows,” he hummed, slowly standing up and dusting off the dirt and flower petals that stuck to his pants. After making sure they were clean, he then extended a hand down towards her with a smile that rivaled the shimmering sun.
“But we can find out. Together.”
Chiyo’s eyes widened.
Growing up, Amari Chiyo always thought she had to have the answers to everything. It was drilled into her head as a child and enforced upon her by herself as a teen. She was the eldest daughter. It was her responsibility to lead by example and live a well-planned and stable life.
But when Nishinoya walked into her life, it felt like a hurricane tearing through a perfectly organized stack of papers.
And for the first time, she began to look forward. She began to have hopes and dreams of a future. Not a future for others, nor to set an example, but a future for her and her only.
And while it was still scary to not live by a perfectly planned script. For the first time, she was okay with that.
Placing her hand in his, Chiyo smiled as he pulled her up to her feet.
“Yeah,” she grinned. “That sounds great!”
She was grateful to Nishinoya. For calling out to her after school, for helping her find Hotaru on that rainy afternoon, for getting to know her so wholly and sincerely, and for encouraging her to follow her own path.
She wondered how she could make him happy. Someone who was so aware, yet oblivious at the same time. Perhaps a simple hug and kiss would do, or perhaps she could try and gift him the mountains and oceans they would one day travel together.
“Come on,” still holding her hand, Nishinoya pointed in the direction of her house. “Let’s go home!”
But for now, she knew a large bowl of her homemade yaki udon would do just fine.

Summary: Love at first sight isn't real. Whatever this Nishinoya guy was feeling when he proposed to you on sight, it wasn't love. And if you're wrong? All he has to do is propose another nine hundred and ninety-nine times to prove it. (nishinoya x fem!reader)
Warnings and Tags: fem, non gender-neutral reader, mental health + family issues, implied child neglect, hurt/comfort, coming of age, slow burn but like in a weird nontraditional way, gratuitous usage of footnotes
Word count: ~2800

p1. Love is real.
This one's simple enough. You grew up around your parents—hopelessly in love with one another, the romantic types put on this planet specifically to make their kids' life hell in a non-traumatizing, wholesome way, all sweet kisses and gross, get a room! to fill your childhood home. You've seen love. During at least one point of your life, there was love.
p2. Love takes work.
Also simple enough. Again we'll point to your parents—long nights worked by one or the other, working too hard, coming home to find you asleep on the couch with whichever parent was home for you. Bruised egos and hearts, fights that didn't need to happen but always would have, heated discussions whispered in the kitchen when you should have been in bed, but always always always coming back to each other. Separating from one another whenever there was yelling—keep the peace, come back when we can have a discussion. Trying to love you even when your grades fell too hard to overlook, but disappointed all the same, until you're yelling, until you don't fall asleep on the couch waiting for your mom to come home anymore, until you fall asleep studying at your desk listening out for your father, hoping tonight he'll be home before you finish your homework.
p3. Love must be earned.
—or at least, it can be lost. It'd explain the past two years. You lost his love, and you'll earn it back.
p4. If love must be earned and love takes work, then love at first sight does not exist.
Of course, none of this explains anything about what's taking place now, your utterly petrified classmate (one Yachi Hitoka, sits two seats in front of you, never interacted with) darting her eyes back and forth between you and the offender who could perhaps use a reality check against your worldview. For your part, the—question? demand? statement?—had the fun side effect of pitching your voice in embarrassment and disbelief, not to mention totally ruining the vaguely detached image of yourself you've very carefully cultivated over the years.
"I—uh—I'm sorry, what did you just say to me?"
p5. Love at first sight does not exist.
Although the other members of the Karasuno High School Volleyball Club wear expressions currently ranging from disbelief to exasperation, you're not entirely convinced you've heard the offender correctly until he steps forward, chest puffed out without a hint of self-doubt in his eyes.
Point of interest: as far as you were aware, volleyball is a sport about really tall guys yelling a lot and hitting a ball just real hard, and this one doesn't seem to have the height or the shoulder muscles for that. If your first impression is anything to go by, at least he has the volume. He's got a small build—lithe, even, and it's hard to tell with most of his teammates dropping their heads into their hands, but you'd say nearly everyone else here is a good head taller than him at least. It'd explain the hair: save for a little bleached tuft hanging down over his forehead, he's gone to the trouble to spike it, adding a few centimeters to his height total. All in all: confusing, but not unattractive.
c. Therefore, this is not love at first sight.
"Sorry," he says, tilting his head with a wide smile that doesn't look very sorry. "That might've been a bit rude. Please marry me?"
Yeah, that's what you'd thought he'd said, alright.
Shimizu, the gorgeous third-year who'd brought you into this line of fire, lets out a long-suffering sigh. One of the other guys is now on the floor, both hands threaded through his hair.
Point of disinterest: this behavior is clearly the offender's usual.
"Are you stupid or something?" the silver-haired guy on the floor finally manages to say, stage-whispering in utter disbelief. "Seriously, are you just a complete—"
Impulse: Have fun with this.
It's not that you really intended to cut the guy off—honestly, for all you care, he can yell at his teammate or anyone else all he wants. Hardly your problem. But—
I mean, how are you not supposed to laugh?
This is who you are: logic and impulse at war. Doubled over laughter, immediate stock taken of the situation, and, just because you appreciate his initiative, you let yourself speak without thinking too hard about it, full-body laughter subsiding to giggles as you meet his eyes. "You know what? How about you let me finish introducing myself and ask me that… oh, I dunno, we'll say a thousand times or so, and then I'll think about it. 'Kay?"
The offender—your suitor, you suppose—gains an extra centimeter of height at the words, eyes lighting up his face in a way that might actually be dangerous to someone with a few less brain cells to spare. He looks ready to say something, but stops himself. Nods firmly, mimes zipping his lips as though to let you know you can continue.
You stifle a lingering giggle, take a deep breath, and smooth out your uniform skirt carefully. You know how to smile and know how to charm and now you've got a reason to be just interested enough to bother with either. "O-kay. Um, I'm [full name]. Like Yachi-san here, I'm in class 1-5. It's a pleasure to meet all of you!"
"Nice to meet you!" they shout in eerie, overly-loud unison, bowing to the both of you. Beside you, Yachi nearly shrieks, hiding behind you a little as Shimizu steps forward to ask them not to scare the shit out of you both. To their credit, everyone seems genuinely confused as to what could possibly be startling about suddenly being yelled at by twelve or so guys standing around you in a semi-circle.
As for you?
You adjust your uniform bow carefully, suppressing a smile.
Maybe this "managing a club" idea won't be as bad as you thought.
~
Okay, point of order: it's not that you thought managing a club would be bad, necessarily. It's more that, well—look, pretty third-year approaches you in the hall while you're barely paying attention, assumes you're walking with some other random girl in your class, and you're looking for any excuse to stay out of the house as much as you can, anyway, so why not waste a few minutes this afternoon and some more tomorrow? It's not like you're agreeing fully to join or anything. And Yachi, at least, seems nice, though you're a little sorry she's been lumped with you.
You'd decided to make it up to her with a tepid offer of friendship, if for no reason other than to reassure her you don't want her dead (which appears to be a serious concern of hers?), but in the three minutes it took you to draw this conclusion and walk up to her desk, you'd been absolutely steamrolled by two of the club's first years from yesterday (Hinata: short, loud, springy, insists that you drop all honorifics for him. Kageyama: tall, quiet, blunt. Appears to just be along for the ride.) and somehow ended up jointly tutoring the two in English.
The days that follow give you no opportunities to learn any further names—your attention splits neatly between trying to figure out how volleyball even works and not fucking dying whenever a hit or whatever goes out-of-bounds. You'd been right about the yelling, mostly right about hitting the ball really hard (the really tall first-year sometimes hits the ball Not Hard, and your suitor doesn't seem to hit the ball at all?), and wrong about the guys needing to be tall (Hinata, for one, and most of the other guys are only tall in direct contrast to you).
That's about the extent of what you've gotten so far, beyond a bruise or two in preventing Yachi's soul from leaving her body. The guys seem to want to prevent those, but they're certainly not perfect. As for your co-trial manager, she is the very definition of skittish, and thus far has confided in you the following:
someone may want to kill her for standing next to Shimizu for several uninterrupted minutes (fair, Shimizu is extremely pretty)
the coach is going to kill her (maybe a bit narrow-minded—the Sakanoshita cashier is plenty nice, even if he does look a bit scary)
someone here is going to break a finger or perhaps an arm (yeah, no way to counter that one. It's athletics.)
someone here is going to unintentionally break her face with a stray volleyball (perfectly reasonable. You keep an eye out on her behalf.)
Despite this, she connects to the others far better than you ever could. When Hinata's study session with the three of you results in a boosted quiz score, he notices her before you and drags her into the hype session, allowing you to sneak on by while they cheer together. That's fine. You can't really match their energy, anyhow. Every now and then, though, she gets this look or makes some offhanded comment that makes you think she probably won't stick with managing.
For your part, you aren't really decided either way. The Karasuno High School Volleyball Club is full of… well, people. They're all different, you can't keep anyone straight, and while they're certainly polite enough in small doses, as a group, they overwhelm you with an energy that reminds you why you've never really gotten into sports before.
Your suitor is perhaps the worst offender of this—everyone gets louder around him, either out of necessity to be heard or simply because he seems to raise the energy levels of whoever's standing closest to him. He seems to be the root of about thirty percent of the volleyball club's total volume, and his boundless energy is extended your way whenever possible. Without fail, sometime between your feet crossing the threshold of the volleyball gym and getting your shoes on each day, he'll shout your name, followed by a full-chested compliment about how great you look today. It was unsettling for two minutes until you saw him take a flying leap at Shimizu in hopes of hugging her and end up getting slapped instead. For now, you'll take it as a relief that no additional marriage proposals have come your way.
You don't know whether to be disappointed that your suitor apparently is just your average horny teenager and you're not exactly special or relieved that, at least, you're not ugly enough for him to discredit you as an option entirely. If nothing else, it's hard to sense any sort of real threat from someone so openly and earnestly interested in anyone who breathes.
This is what you tell Shimizu as the three of you walk home after practice, the third time in a week she's apologized to you for his behavior. She's not the only one who has—the captain, a taller, average-looking third year, and the vice captain, the pretty third year with the silvery hair, have both gone out of their way to apologize on his behalf, as well as one of the more responsible-seeming second years. Each one has offered, repeatedly, that they can make him shut up if you want them to, but you've staunchly refused.
"I mean," you tell them each time, "he's harmless. All he's doing is complimenting me and like, little helpful things like helping me up. But I'll take you guys up on that if he actually crosses a line."
What you don't—won't—admit to Shimizu or Yachi, and will never admit to any of these guys, is simple enough: you like the attention. You like having a reason for your cheeks to feel a little hot. You like feeling like someone wants you here, like someone's not just being polite because they haven't yet found a reason to be rude.
The morning of the first day of your second week of this little trial membership, and like clockwork, your suitor is already in the gym, already fully awake like he actually rests when he sleeps or some completely batshit concept to that tune. It's six-something in the fucking AM. Normal people should at least be a little groggy right now, but here he is, running right up to you with a brilliant smile that makes you feel like squinting.
Then again, you suppose normal people aren't the type to propose marriage before you even get your name out.
"Good morning! You're looking lovely as usual today!"
You huff softly, open your mouth to mumble in some sleep-deprived reply, and end up cutting off in the sort of yawn that hijacks your full body to make its point. When you've recovered, you nod to him, rubbing the corner of your eye. "Sorry. I don't think I'm real for another twenty minutes or so. Mornin', Senpai."
Your suitor goes uncharacteristically still, jaw dropping as he stares at you. Suddenly self-conscious, you run through your memory of the past week. You'd assumed he was an upperclassman, not having seen him on the first-year's floor at all and having noticed that he seemed to be one of the more solid members of the team. Were you wrong? "Um… did I say something wrong?" you ask at last, hoping on hope he doesn't detect the nerves in your voice.
At your words, he seems to snap out of whatever stupor he'd suddenly gone into, shaking his head furiously. Unless you're mistaken, his face is turning a lovely shade of red, though you can't fathom why. "Uh—no! No, nothing's wrong. I mean, you didn't say anything wrong! You're—perfect, you're perfect, sorry, I—" He clears his throat, clutches a fist at his chest. You're starting to think he's having some kind of medical issue. "I'm not entirely sure you've ever done anything wrong in your life, actually."
You stifle a nervous laugh, tilt your head a little. "Um…?"
"Okay, sorry—I'm good. Perfect. Fine. Please marry me."
Ah. Alright, then.
A bit more laughter bubbles out of you, less nervous this time. "How about this: you tell me what your name is, because we still haven't been introduced properly, and ask me that nine hundred and ninety-seven more times, and I'll think about it."
The star-struck look on his face gives way to the brightest smile known to the human race. He holds out a hand for you to shake. On the record: your stomach does not flutter in reply.
"Nishinoya Yuu, at your service. Will you really marry me if I ask you a thousand times?"
You take his hand. Shake it carefully. Wonder if this is what dying feels like: no struggle, just letting happen what will happen, feeling strangely overwhelmed for no reason at all. "Hey, I said I'd think about it."
His hand's warm. It lingers in yours for just a moment before he drops the hold. "Challenge accepted, then. I hope you're ready."
You snort, wave him off as you head over to greet Shimizu. "Sure, sure. We'll see how long it takes for you to give up, yeah?"
"If that's what you're holding out for, you're gonna be waiting a while," he calls after you.
You toss your head back with a laugh. "We'll see about that!"
Koi no Yokan¹ (恋の予感): "premonition of love" or "love at second sight". in contrast to love at first sight, koi no yokan refers to the sense when meeting someone that falling in love with them is inevitable.

Footnotes
1. I spent a lot of time digging for the origin of this phrase and it appears to be attributed to a quote from one Nicola Yoon. I'm not certain that 恋の予感 is actually a Japanese concept the way that "love at first sight" is a concept in certain English-speaking cultures, and my research into this only turned up, like, BBC articles and an album by the American alternative metal band Deftones, so it's possible that this phrase is more of an Orientalist hallucination of Japanese culture more than it is a real thing.² Regardless, I truly love the concept, and I could not think of a more fitting title for this fic, so I am proceeding with the given interpretation.
2. For what it's worth, the BBC article I found does ask actual Japanese speakers about the phrase and claims it's common nowadays in shoujo manga circles. One of my good friends reads mostly shoujo manga and is more fluent in Japanese than I am, and I had to explain the concept to her, and also, no one can point me to any specific examples, so I don't really have any strong evidence that this is actually true. (Any examples of this out in the wild are more than welcome in the comments; I'm genuinely curious about this.)

the sweet things in life (tsukishima x reader)
previous || next
chapter 5: overnight
Your classes today had been particularly easy. You got half of your homework done during lunch and would definitely have time to do the rest of it during practice, leaving you free for this weekend. That way, you would be able to lay on the sofa and watch tv for as long as you wanted without feeling the guilt of not doing work at the back of your mind.
Tsukishima had made a comment to you that "doing your work during lunch was foolish" and that "you need to eat something", but you didn't really care. What did four eyes know?
You realized you probably should have listened to him, when you felt your stomach growl with another hour of school left to go. You know when your stomach growls loudly in class and people look at you? It was kind of like that except doubly embarrassing since your pride for not listening to Tsukishima was at stake.
The very boy who chastised you would turn out to be your savior. He quietly passed you a strawberry chocolate protein bar. You looked at him, but he was looking at the teacher, and somewhat impatiently gesturing for you to grab the bar from him. You finally accepted it and gave him a quiet thank you that he didn't respond to.
The bar gave you the energy to finish the school day. Practice was slow, also probably because you were still kind of hungry.
However, it was decided by nearly unanimous vote (Tsukishima wanted no part, and Ennoshita saw it as a scheme by Nishinoya and Tanaka to see Kiyoko outside of club time) that you guys would have team bonding time by spending the night at Sugawara's house. The logistics behind that were brought into question by you, but Suga simply waved it off and said it would be a great time. Not like any of the guys make you uncomfortable anyway, so it was okay.
And so, it was decided that the Karasuno boys volleyball club and their two managers would be spending the night at the Sugawara residence.
----
In all honesty, this already felt like a mistake.
You were sitting in Suga's living room, on the couch that they had shoved all of the first years onto. You were shoulder-to-shoulder between Kageyama and Tsukishima, an interesting combo to say the least. Kiyoko sat in one of the chairs, while Daichi sat in the other (Sugawara was idling between sitting on the arm rest and running around his house to make sure food was good). The second years were sitting on small pillows on the ground in front of the couch, with Tanaka and Noya opting to sit next to Kiyoko, and Ennoshita sitting closer to keep them in check. (I love Kinoshita and Narita guys I promise). Asahi was sitting up against the chair Kiyoko was on.
"Can I just sit on the floor?" Kageyama asked from next to you, to which Nishinoya said that the formations had to stay the same, for whatever reason. That didn't really make too much sense to you, but neither did Nishinoya. You guessed it had something to do with keeping the class levels separate, though you'd wonder why they'd willingly pick the floor.
"Wow, the king wants to sit on a floor like a peasant? Surprising" Tsukishima poked. You gave him a side eye glance which he merely returned with a smirk as Kageyama got ready to retort.
"Don't even start" you tell him, and he shuts his mouth and crosses his arms.
"Kiyoko, you look amazing tonight" Tanaka practically drooled at her feet. That was probably the answer to why they wanted to floor, they wanted to be as close to their 'goddess' as possible. Suga made a comment to Tanaka and Nishinoya about leaving Kiyoko alone.
You all sat in that awkward silence, where no one can think of anything to say and everyone is looking around at each other waiting for someone to do something. You made weird eye contact with Asahi for a split second, before he quickly looked away, almost in fear of you. Finally, the silence was broken by one of your fellow first years.
"Let's play a game" Hinata practically begged from the other end of the couch. The silence was getting to him and he couldn't take it anymore.
"How about paranoia?" Kinoshita suggested.
"What about me?" Noya asked. You shook your head in amusement.
"No dumbass, that's the name of the game" Narita told him.
Basically, paranoia works where someone whispers a question to the person next to them, and that person must answer out loud with a person in the group. Then, you flip a coin to decide if the question will be said out loud. Heads means the question is said, tails means it isn't. Sometimes it's a drinking game, but you're all high schoolers and athletes so that's not how you'd play.
As they decided who would go first, you took a bowl of popcorn from the table and decided to eat some. You offered some to Kageyama, who just gave you a deadpan expression and didn't say anything to you before he took a handful. You then turned to your other side, where Tsukishima pushed the bowl back towards you and refused. You let out a 'hmph' before tuning into the game.
It was honestly going pretty well, none of the questions that were revealed had actually been terrible so far. You were particularly intrigued at what Suga had asked Asahi to make him nervously look around and then say your name, but alas the coin landed tails.
Nishinoya had answered 'Asahi' to Tanaka's question: who would be funniest to see bald other than himself? It was then Noya's turn to ask Kageyama a question. He whispered in his ear and at first he refused to answer. After some convincing and several more seconds of thought, he calmly gave his answer.
"L/n" he spoke matter-of-factly. Your eyes widened at this, and there were some noises made by some of the guys that showed their surprise as well. Suga flipped the coin and you watched on bated breath as it landed on heads. You hesitantly looked to Kageyama, whose face had turned the slightest shade of pink.
"Haha! I asked him who here he would be most likely to ask out on a date" Noya proudly proclaimed. You felt yourself heat up a little, and looked over to see him avoiding eye contact with you. You weren't really sure how to feel.
You had had guys that liked you before, but even hearing that Kageyama would consider taking you on a date made your heart stir. He was decently attractive and insanely good at volleyball, so it's not like he wasn't a catch. But the more you thought about it, the more you didn't see a relationship with him working out. He's just a little too into volleyball for you, and you wouldn't want to be second to that.
This wasn't something you voiced out loud, since this was just a game and not even necessarily any indication he liked you in that way. Unbeknownst to you, on the other side of you Tsukishima was giving Kageyama a nasty glare. It was different to his usual rbf, there was a genuine annoyance in his expression.
You merely laughed it off before it was time for you to answer Kageyama's question. You figured he would just ask some dumb little question, so you weren't concerned. He cupped his hands to your ear and asked his question.
"Which guy here would you most want to have as your first kiss?" he whispered. Your heartbeat picked up its pace as you looked at him incredulously. He merely stared and waited for your answer.
You looked around at everyone there, intently waiting for you to announce your answer. You crossed the third years off of your list first, just because of how intimidating you found them (though they all had their own attractive charm). You decided Noya and Tanaka were far too obsessed with Kiyoko for that to ever happen, and no offense to the other second years but they were just a little too average for your liking.
That left you to decide between your fellow first years. Hinata was the first one you eliminated. He's cute and determined, but a little too immature for your liking. Yamaguchi was someone you much preferred as a friend, and you couldn't imagine a romantic venture with him. That left Kageyama and Tsukishima. You had to come up with mental pros and cons.
Kageyama was both good and bad for all of the reasons you had thought earlier when you realized you'd rather not date him. And if you wouldn't date him, why would you want him as a first kiss? So that left one.
He's a jerk, and you know that, but there was just something about him. It seemed like he did care about you at least a little (even if he wouldn't admit it). You thought back to the protein bar from earlier today he had given you when you had neglected to take care of yourself. There's also the fact that he's boyishly handsome and extremely smart, however much his snark covers those facts up. You had made your decision.
"Tsukishima" you said with confidence. Everyone seemed a little shocked, and wondered just what the nature of the question was as Suga brought the coin out again.
You hoped and prayed that the coin would land on tails, even though strangely a small part of you wanted the question to be revealed to everyone. How would he react? You didn't have to find out though, as the coin landed on tails and you were safe.
Your secret is safe for now, only known by Kageyama. You turned to ask Tsukishima a question and the game went on.
Eventually, when everyone had inevitably gotten bored of the game, you all retired to your sleeping bags. There was some more talking but you were entirely exhausted and dozed off.
----
You woke up at some point in the middle of the night for an unknown reason. You rubbed your eyes and looked around the room, trying to make out what was happening. You caught some mischievous snickering and looked over to see Noya, Tanaka, and Hinata drawing on Kageyama's face. They seemingly hadn't woken anyone else up.
"What are you guys doing?" you said at a regular volume.
They looked over to you in shock and quickly shushed you, but to your amusement Kageyama began to wake up. When he noticed the boys standing around them, he started to yell and threaten them. The other three jumped up and ran way from him, tripping over Asahi as they went. The commotion caused everyone except for Kiyoko to wake up. You snickered before rolling over and going back to sleep, ignoring the shouting from the other side of the room.
Lord save you.

Him and Obi are HILARIOUS together, him and Mitsuhide are so sweet and funny (huge brother vibes that I love) and him and Shariyuki are SO SWEET AND ADORABLE!!!
- Shariyuki -
Tumblr media
I love her very much but I think she needs to show a litttle more emotion sometimes. I feel like she can be sort of bland? Idk but she is awesome and inspiring and sweet and lovable and caring and eidjncedijncedijn she’s great. Her dynamic are amazing as well, the two I love the most are her and Zen and her and Obi :D
- Obi -
Tumblr media
THANK YOU CROW. I AM SO GLAD YOU ABT ASKED HIM.
Obi is 100% in my top five characters EVER. he works insanely well in all dynamics (but I didn’t say he was better as part of one bc he is WONDERFUL on his own as well). If he was real I’d either be terrified or we’d get along great. He is SCARY when he wants to be. Oh and “He’s never done anything wrong in his life” is very incorrect but I don’t care because he is the best lil guy. Okay moving on before I ramble tooooo much!
Haikyuu:
- Tanaka -
Tumblr media
TANAKA IS ANOTHER OF THE BEST LIL GUYS EVER. JSDHCNUSDHNCDSUHN. He is a ball of chaos and older brother vibes. He is insane yet caring and sweet. HE IS THE MENTAL ACE AND I LOVE IT. His backstory gives me the FEELS. Ejfhcnuhcefnceudhn. He is such a good friend to everyone and is great in all the dynamics. I LOVE him being friends with Nishinoya it is so hype and amazing. I wish there was a lot more of him in the show but it’s plenty so wont complain.
- Nishinoya -
Tumblr media
Nishinoya is wonderful. He’s a lil ball of sunshine and he’s such a sturdy foundation of the team. I would LOVE to see more of him. I don’t have much to say outside of his relationships with the team and characters… OH HIS LIL JUMP WHEN HE CHEERS WITN HINATA IS SO FUN AND AWESOME. the shorties jumping up and down every win. Also he is so determined and just bah he is great.

Now that I’m watching beach volley, I must say that Kristen Nuss from USA reminds me of Ava 🏐 She’s so tiny, but one of the best players in the world!
oooh okay so anon when i saw this, my brain immediately split into 2 directions: beach and indoor/team volleyball.
beach would be incredible for Ava - at the beach! in the sun! one half of such an important partnership; being equal. the tricky part is figuring out her partner lol - like, she could partner anyone yknow?
as in, i feel she'd have an incredible dynamic with anyone she's with. like, with Mary - maybe a veteran Olympian - would have her back and trust her and ground her while also pushing her in different ways; with Lilith, i feel like they'd make a dangerously sharp and fiercely aggressive team (when they're not sniping at each other lol); with Camila they'd have this rapid pace and creativity, maybe also as a new pair/new generation bringing in a breath of fresh air into both their country's team and the sport in general; Beatrice of course would be such steady support for Ava's theatrics, though not to say that they wouldn't be risk-takers - for some reason i have them as the most unpredictable for opponents because of how much they trust each other.
team/indoor volleyball is something i've actually thought about before, but in terms of a Haikyu au.
[eta: omg this became so much rambling i'm so sorry anon, especially if you have no idea what i'm talking about but if you like volleyball, i encourage you to give Haikyu a chance!]
while i've seen some episodes/clips of the anime and stage plays and think both are fantastic, the manga is my true love. it's hands down my favorite sports manga and one of my top 5 manga of all time. i learned so, so much about storytelling and structure from this series; i think Furudate is all sorts of brilliant.
in terms of if i was to make a Haikyu au for WN, Ava would absolutely have to be Hinata because his love of volleyball and that voracious desire to learn. to me, his major character arcs come from working with a team and becoming a professional volleyball player. the former is perfect for the team aspect of WN, the latter would be wonderful to explore Ava's more serious side. as in, when something you love becomes something you dedicate your life to, where you find the most joy, where you become the best version of yourself.
ugh oh man the timeskip would be a beautiful analog to canon too, as in Ava coming back from the other side - stronger, more confident, and still in love with volleyball. a true "monster" lol as the ones who turned pro were called. plus there was that bit in the ending about the Olympics so this is in line with your prompt anon, i swear this isn't just me rambling mindlessly about Haikyu (tho it kinda is lol)
casting everyone else is hella tricky. though, i could get behind Camila as Nishinoya. she'd be a tad "lighter" in personality than Nishinoya but Cam does have that serious side to her and of course size-wise, she'd fit the libero position. Tsukishima immediately had me thinking of Lilith with all the shit he gives Hinata at the start and the f-ing brilliance of the Shiratorizawa match - oh man i still get shivers at that arc. also damn, that scene when he and Kiyoko have to go to the infirmary would be beautiful for Lilith too, having to trust her team to hold on. (i think i'mma have to reread ohno)
Mary feels very Daichi because captain/dad lol, i wonder if Sugawara could work as an analog for Shannon - his story is slightly different, since Sugawara gives the setter position to Kageyama (i.e. not Hinata/Ava) but still, that act of stepping back i feel would be close.
i have no idea who i'd cast for Tanaka - i'm not sure who'd be the sort of "everyman" analog from WN. the managers too are hard to cast - mostly because there's not a lot of folks to choose from lol - but also, who can possibly be as cool as Kiyoko?! ... well, Beatrice could lol, but that would mean i'd need to cast Ava as Tanaka because of course lol
speaking of Beatrice, i hesitate to cast her as Kageyama because though she'd be a brilliant setter, Beatrice's relationship with Ava is different from the antagonistic/rival aspect of Hinata and Kageyama's relationship, yknow? to that point, hm, Lilith would actually be fun in that position instead, especially with Kageyama's past and their similar ties to past folks/legacy of sorts.
which, then, Beatrice could be cast as Tsukishima, brilliant and strategic - doesn't think much of Hinata/Ava at first, develops a strong relationship with the back line hm, goddammit why is Beatrice the character who can do everything™
though now that i'm noodling more, if we go back to Beatrice as Kageyama, yes it'd be a different dynamic but also huh it could be interesting to set (lol) up a backstory for Beatrice that run similar to Kageyama where they both developed a rift with their past teams because they were driving them too hard and has to learn how to meet folks where they are. (then later learn to challenge once that trust and individual and team skill have built up). hm in that way, Beatrice's arc could be really interesting - and she and Ava could still have a rivalry and push each other to be better, just not as antagonistic as Kageyama and Hinata...
sorry anon this is just me rambling. last thing i'll say about this and Haikyu is that this kind of au would be interesting on a group/team level because their team, Karasuno, doesn't have that elite standing like the OCS, they're the underdogs which, idk, i feel like could provide some interesting conversations with canon

~Back In The Game~
~Chapter Thirty-Two ~
-Masterlist-
What happens when a girl who loves volleyball joins a boys' volleyball club? Does she find love? Will she relive her past or move forward? Join (L/N) (Y/N) on a journey with fun twists and turns.
I don't own Haikyuu or any of the characters.
Tumblr media
-Last Time-
“You sure do have a big appetite today, Suga.” Ashai points out.
“Oh? I’ve got work to do, so I need to be sure I eat enough.” Suga replies, which earns knowing looks from Asahi and Daichi.
-Karasuno General Sports Park, Dormitory-
“So! In two days, we’re supposed to have a showdown with the legendary Karasuno High School, right? Now, the big question I have about our (supposedly) fated rivals is… do they or don’t they have a hot chick for a manager?! I bet one Haagen-Dazs that they don’t have one!!” A boy with a blonde mohawk says.
“Aww! I think it would be cool if they had one, so I’ll bet one Haagen-Dazs that they do!” A boy with brown hair that is spiked upwards replies.
“I’ll bet one too!” A boy with jet-black hair adds.
“Whaaa?! Don’t you two have any brains?! We don’t have a hot chick manager, so they shouldn’t either! The only way I’ll forgive them if they do is if she’s as hairy and ugly as a gorilla! But on the teen-tiny off chance that they have a super-hot, gorgeous supermodel of a manager, I won’t forgive them for the rest of my life!!”
‘He’s crying…’ The other two boys think.
“You’d better be ready, Karasuno!! I’ll make you pay!!” The boy yells out the window.
“Shut up, Yamamoto!!” Kuroo scolds the boy with the blonde mohawk.
“Hey, Kenma! What do you think?” Yamamoto asks.
“Meh? Don't really care either way.”
“Eeh! I figured you’d say that.”
“Still…I’m kinda looking forward to it. Our game with Karasuno.”
“?!” Everyone looks at Kenma surprised except Kuroo.
“What?! Mr. No-Enthusiasm-For-Anything himself is looking forward to a game?!” Yamamoto asks.
“Yamamoto, if you have this much energy left, do you want me to give you extra laps?” Kuroo asks.
“Urk! My bad…”
-The Next Day, With Karasuno-
“Okay!” Ukai begins. “This will be our starting lineup for the game against Nekoma.” He says referring to the boys on the court.
-Daichi(Wing Spiker) Hinata(Middle Blocker) Tanaka(Wing Spiker),
Asahi(Wing Spiker) Tsukishima(Middle Blocker) Nishinoya(Libero)
You look at the boys on the sideline. Yamaguchi looks sad, Suga is trying to look unbothered but you can see through it, and the remaining three second years don’t look surprised. You want to encourage the five of them but Ukai continues speaking.
“I know most of you have only just met, so I’m not expecting you to be in sync right off the bat. I hear there was even some kind of trouble between you guys before I got here.” He glances at Asahi and Noya. “Anyway! Just because we have a talented libero now…and our Ace is back…doesn’t mean we’re going to go out and start winning everything. The team that wins…is the one that stays connected the longest. How well you guys pull that off…will determined in the Crows vs. Cats game.”
“Yes, Coach!” Everyone calls out.
“Just getting the chance to practice a real game was no easy feat.” Ukai begins and points to Takeda. “Be sure to thank your advisor for all his hard work.”
“?! W-Wha?! N-No, I haven’t…” Takeda stutters.
“Thank you very much!!” Everyone says before they start cleaning.
Asahi is standing and watching Tanaka and Ennoshita talk as they sweep. Noya is behind him.
“Asahi-san!” Noya says, causing the Ace to jump.
“Yeah…?” Asahi responds hesitantly as he looks behind him at Noya.
“...” Noya looks at him. “Never mind Suga… you’d better not be feeling sorry for Ennoshita too.”
“ULG!”
“Wha?!” Ennoshita responds having heard Noya.
“This isn’t a game of nicey-nice, y’know!” Noya starts. “The best player gets to be out on the court! Period! That’s the way it goes!”
“Noya…Let’s just drop it…” You say, trying to avoid another big fight.
“Um…” Asahi looks at Ennoshita.
“W-Well…” Ennoshita begins. “To be honest…It isn’t as if I’ve been giving my all to the club this entire time either.”
“Huh?” You say quietly.
“I did run away that one time. So um…”
“??” You, Hinata, and Kageyama look at Ennoshita in confusion.
“When you get stronger and better than Asahi-san, then you’ll get to steal that starting spot from him fair and square!” Noya declares. “Right, Chikara?”
“Huh?!” Ennoshita stiffens. “W-Wait, I didn’t say that—”
“Oh yeah. That’s right. If anybody’s gonna lose their spot to you, it’s gonna be Ryuu.”
“?! W-What?! Y-You’re on, punk!” Tanaka yells. “B-Bring it on, bruh!! I can take you!”
“Nishinoya, please stop that…” Ennoshita says, shoving his hand in Noya’s face.
-After Dinner-
Hinata and Kageyama enter the room.
“Aah, that was good. I’m stuffed–GAH!!” Hinata says before seeing what’s going on in the room. “The second years are setting everything up!”
“We’ll do that for you.” Kageyama says as he and Hinata rush over to the second years. Hinata grabs the blankets and pillows from Ennoshita.
“Huh? No, that’s okay!”
“Is everything okay in here?” You ask as you stand in the doorway.
“(Y/N)?” Ennoshita looks at you. “Yeah. Everything is fine.”
“Okay. I just wanted to make sure.” You say. You notice that they are setting up the futons. “Here, let me help you guys.”
“Oh! I-It’s okay, (Y/N). We got it.” Ennoshita says.
“It wasn’t a question.” You smirk. You’re straightening out the futon when Hinata speaks.
“Um, Ennoshita-san…?” The second year looks at him. “I kinda overheard you talking to Asahi-san and Noya-san earlier…”
“You did? So you heard the part about how we ran away, huh.” Ennoshita says embarrassed. “Last year…You heard that Coach Ukai came back for a short while, right?” He asks. “The older one. Not the Coach we have now.” He clarifies.
“Yeah.” You, Hinata, and Kageyama say.
“Well…And this is going to sound really pathetic, but…there were a handful of us who just couldn’t handle practices anymore.” You, Hinata, and Kageyama sit down with you in the middle. “Our captain was an easygoing guy, and we all took advantage of that. But when Coach Ukai arrived, what used to be a just-for-fun club suddenly turned into a serious, in-it-to-win-it team.”
“For those of us who’d gotten comfortable with the old way, it was a shock, to say the least. So…we ran away.” Narita added.
“Soon we all started to miss the game, and we came back. But by that point, Coach Ukai had left again.” Ennoshita explained. You remember Keishin telling you about his gramps collapsing and ending up in the hospital.
“The team has never been all that big. So when we came back, Sugawara-san turned a blind eye to what we did and let us rejoin.” Narita says.
“We’re all pretty pathetic for second years…” Ennoshita says. “But since we’re here, we’re going to work hard and do our best not to let you rookies get ahead of us. So, um…we’re going to try and give you a run for those starting spots fair and square. Okay?”
“Yessir!” Hinata and Kageyama say.
Ennoshita, Narita, and Kinoshita get their bath stuff and start heading toward the bath. You stop them out in the hall.
“Wait up!” You shout at them. They stop and turn to look at you.
“What’s up, (Y/N)?” Ennoshtia asks.
“I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m really happy you guys came back to the team.” They look at you shocked. “I know how hard of a decision it is to come back. I won’t go into details but I left volleyball for a bit and getting up the nerve to come back was tough. But I’m glad I did.” You finish with a smile. The boys are shocked and are unable to find the words to say. The four of you stand there not saying anything until it becomes awkward. “Well…” You begin, breaking the awkward silence. “...I’m going to go say bye to Hinata and Kageyama. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” You say as you turn and head back to the room where the two first years are.
“(Y/N)!” Ennoshita exclaims.
“?” You look back at the boys.
“Thank you!” All three say as they bow.
“!!” You’re shocked until a smile spreads across your face. “I meant what I said.” You say before continuing to your destination. You’re about to go into the room when you hear Kageyama ask Hinata a question.
“What’re you staring off into nothing for?”
“...It’s kinda obvious…that not everybody on the team will get to play in a game. But…everybody’s working really hard in hopes of getting called on to start.”
“...”
“The only reason that I get to play is cuz you’re setting. I hate to say it, but there’s no way I would’ve gotten this spot on my own.”
“...”
Hinata quickly stands up, startling Kageayma. Hinata starts screaming and running.
“?! Where are you going?!” Kageyama yells.
“To take a bath! And then I’m gonna go to sleep! And get up even earlier tomorrow morning!!”
“!!” Kageyama starts running after him.
“...” You stand in the doorway as they run past you, not even noticing you.
“Hey!! Dang it, no fair!! You got a head start!!” Kageyama yells as he runs past Tsukishima and Yamaguchi.
“I can understand early practice…but why race to the baths? That’s stupid.” Tsukishima questions with a look of disgust as he watches the two of them race.
“Ugh. Just watching them makes me tired.” Yamaguchi says before yawning.
“Hey guys!” You say getting Tsukishima and Yamaguchi’s attention.
“Oh! Hey (Y/N)!” Yamaguchi replies as Tsukishima just looks at you. “What’re you still doing here?”
“I was finishing a few chores and then listened to a story about the second years. I talked to them and then went to say goodbye to Hinata and Kageyama but they raced off to the baths.” You explain. “So, what are you guys up to?”
“Getting ready to bead to the baths, obviously.” Tsukishima remarks. You roll your eyes at him.
“Are you guys excited to go up against Nekoma?” You ask.
“It’s just a practice game.” Tsukishima replies.
“Well, I’m excited!” Yamaguchi says happily. You smile at him.
“I know you guys will do great. I believe in you guys.” You smile. Yamaguchi blushes and Tsukishima’s ears turn the slightest bit pinker. “Well, I better let you guys get on your way. Don’t want the other two to use all the hot water.” You say as you begin to walk away. “See ya guys tomorrow!” You wave.

𓇼 has lived on panorama island for her whole life, has no intention of leaving. deeply loves the life shes made here 𓇼 she teaches adult surf lessons! one of the better surfers on the island, tried out for the national team and did not make it. didnt sway her that much, but she has refocused on teaching rather than competing 𓇼 still lives with her mom despite being an adult, bc theyre very close and 'there's no reason to pay two rents for two half used houses' 𓇼 genuinely did move on from semi. it took her a long time and she hasnt found anyone else that she's really interested in, but she is truly over him.
nishinoya yu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓇼 is the sub for kids lessons, but mostly works the shop inside. they sell boards, wax, assorted beach paraphernalia, etc. he tries to get every single customer to buy one of the corny shirts they have and he very rarely succeeds 𓇼 is best friends and roommates with bokuto. they match each others energy in terrifying ways and when they run the store together its a sight to see 𓇼 plays jimmy buffet in the store to EVERYONES dismay 𓇼 is also a local, but from a neighboring island. moved to panorama to get away from family and like become an adult
saeko tanaka
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓇼 she doesnt own the shop but she might as well. she's the 'manager' but doesnt have to act like it, bc everyone on panorama is cool. only tourists act a fool and she will put them in their place instantly 𓇼 is in charge of scheduling lessons so does not teach. she refuses to acknowledge the singular lesson she teaches with the hottest man on the island because whats it to you 𓇼 has fully adopted everyone else as a surrogate mother, and will let people crash at her place any time they need. so shes invited to all the beach parties. 𓇼 cool ass woman.
bokuto koutarou
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓇼 main kids instructor. they love him so much and he loves them equally as much. he's like a micro celebrity on the island, since the kids all take lessons with him because he's so cool! so he cannot go anywhere without getting bombarded with little kid hugs 𓇼 definitely the type to play pool games with them, or just chuck kids so far away in the water. does not get sick of it at all. this is his element 𓇼 is best friends with noya and is actively feeding the jimmy buffet agenda. he claims to not like it but knows all the words to cheeseburger in paradise 𓇼 is a really good surfer, up there with yn as best on the island. he still is gunning for competition at some level
oikawa tooru
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓇼 second half of the adult surf lessons, will absolutely not do kid lessons. he claims that bokuto has 'corrupted them' and doesnt like when they try to play games with him
𓇼 he is like 99.9% doing this for the hot surfer aesthetic. he spends a really long time gelling his hair so it looks perpetually wet. tragically he does pull it off.
𓇼 he's a pretty good surfer. he doesnt really train, he does it for fun so he's a lot more causal than bokuto. he will go crazy for the island tournaments
𓇼 hates jimmy buffet. has figured out how to shut off the stereo remotely so that he doesnt have to hear it
Tumblr media
fun facts!
𓇼 goofy footer is a technical surf term! its the style for people who ride with right foot first. all of the workers except oikawa surf goofy, hence the gc name
𓇼 they're starting to use the gc as a personal chat rather than work. it was not an instant bond thing with them, but now they're all warming up big time. saeko was a big help in this

Hi there!! I’d like to be a🪻 anon and I want to request a long romantic matchup with either girl or a guy (I’m okay with both)
My ideal partner is someone I can rely on (especially in different social situations), also someone understanding and patient (who’s an extroverted person), someone passionate who likes to explore and learn new things
My pronouns are she/her, I’m an introvert, I’m usually calm and quiet, let’s say I don’t take failures well: I get stressed easily (I failed an exam that I had to retake this week, hopefully it went well👍)
When it comes to hobbies I’m kinda like a sponge - everything I try becomes my hobby in some way; mostly I like reading, listening to music, travelling, astronomy, mythologies, yoga, philosophy, psychology
Love languages: quality time and physical touch (giving), acts of service and quality time (receiving)
Other: I’m an intp, I like to learn new things all the time and I yap about them all the time too, I love museums, aquariums, theatres, art galleries so my ideal date would probably be something like that, also I like to analyse media I’m consuming so if I watch a movie I like to talk about what I liked about it and symbolism in the movie etc and it’s the same with plays, books, music, paintings all kinds of things
Okay I think that’s all! I’m excited who you’ll pick for me, take all the time you need❤️

🥛 i'll be honest at first i was at a loss for who to pick for you
🥛 but after a couple days i read your ask over again and i was like "it's noya! it's clearly noya!"
🥛 noya is one of the biggest extroverts in the whole series
🥛 man is absolutely fearless
🥛 he's extremely passionate about volleyball but at the same time likes to explore new things
🥛 literally quits volleyball to explore the world after high school
🥛 i think noya's generally a pretty chill person but if it's a topic he's really passionate about he can get fired up pretty easily
🥛 prime example is when asahi left the team
🥛 but he's a great friend and seems to make friends pretty easily
🥛 the type of guy that not everyone likes but very few people dislike if that makes sense
🥛 like you, asahi gets stressed easily, but everyone sees how noya can cheer him up and inspire him
🥛 so he'd be the same way with you
🥛 the biggest reason why noya would fit you is because he's also like a sponge
🥛 he's one of the only characters in the whole series (that i can think of ofc) that avidly embraces change and wants to try everything
🥛 you would definitely join him on his voyage across the globe
🥛 you'd try so many things (new food, crazy activities, just making the most of life while you're young)
🥛 you'd be THAT couple on instagram with the coolest pictures that makes everyone jealous
🥛 noya would be JUMPING at the opportunity to do something for you
🥛 idk if i've said this before but i feel like his biggest giving love language is acts of service (followed by physical touch and words of affirmation)
🥛 even when you don't need his help, he's jumping to do things for you
🥛 examples: carrying your bags, holding an umbrella for you even though he's probably shorter than you, cooking for you even though he probably burns toast
🥛 his receiving love language strikes me as physical touch
🥛 one touch from you and he's melting
🥛 you could slap him and he'd still love you (*cough cough kiyoko*)
🥛 even though it seems like nothing in nishinoya's life is permanent or lasting, you are the one constant in his liquid puzzle
runner up for you was hinata shōyō!
Tumblr media
A/N: there you go 🪻anon, i hope you liked it! sorry about the long wait, lost creativity and motivation for a couple days 🙈 i hope your exam went well!

𝐙𝐎𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
Tumblr media
fandom: haikyuu ship: nishinoya yuu x oc/reader status: complete ao3 link
"I think you're really pretty. Will you go out with me?" That was the first thing he's ever said to her. And needless to say, Amari Chiyo was not impressed. So as promised, Nishinoya Yuu will get to know her better and confess again. And again. And again. And again. It'll take 6 years and 9 confessions, but he'll get there. Eventually.
⌦ content: fluff, light angst, love at first sight, friends to lover, slice of life
⌦ note: you are free to insert yourself into Chiyo, just keep in mind she has her own character/backstory. i know some people don't like that, so just a heads-up.
story masterlist | previous chapter | next chapter
Tumblr media
The second time he confessed was almost a year and a half later – at their second-year sports festival.
During their first year, Nishinoya joined the volleyball team. And in just one year, he managed to make the starting lineup as the team's libero. Apparently, he was so good that he received the 'Best Libero Award' in a tournament during late spring, despite the team coming in second within the prefecture. The award made him famous, not just within the middle school volleyball scene but also throughout the school.
Not that Chiyo has been paying any attention.
Sure, she made sure to congratulate him when he immediately came bragging to her about his accomplishments. But she was far too stressed out with her personal life to pay attention to Nishinoya's growing popularity.
Between her first and second year of middle school, Chiyo's parents got divorced. Her father's start-up business took a turn for the worse, and her mother decided to jump ship while she was still somewhat financially stable. And though the Amari family had three children, she decided to only take Chiyo — the eldest child, along with her. But after living with her mother for two months, Chiyo decided, of her own accord, to return home to her father and siblings.
Despite all that, Chiyo did her best not to let any of it slip. She kept up with her grades, laughed with her classmates, and occasionally entertained Nishinoya's attempts at getting to know her better. And in her second year, she was elected as one of the two class representatives for their class.
And after four weeks of endless planning and stress, Chiyo was just glad the Sports Festival seemed to be running relatively smoothly. A few minor hiccups aside, everyone was having fun, which was the most important part.
After an eventful morning and fulfilling lunch, Chiyo was busy looking through the list of classmates she needed to gather when someone tapped her on the shoulder.
"Hey, Amari!" It was Nishinoya. "Whatcha doing?"
"Trying to round up the people for the tug-of-war and class relay." Chiyo gave him a tired smile. "Speaking of which, you should probably go get ready."
Chidoriyama Junior High was a school that separated sports festival teams by class, and tug-of-war and the class relay were the two most important events. Both had the class's pride and dignity riding on the line. And being one of the fastest runners, Nishinoya was chosen to be the anchor of the relay.
"Yeah, I know." Despite the acknowledgement, he continued to linger. In spite of the heavy burden he carried, Chiyo noted that he looked relatively carefree.
"Are you gonna watch?" He suddenly asked.
"Hm?"
"The class relay," he clarified. "You're gonna watch, right?"
She shrugged. "Of course. What kind of class rep would I be if I didn't?"
"Great. And you're gonna cheer for me, right?"
Chiyo raised an eyebrow. "I'm gonna cheer for the class, Nishinoya. Not just you."
"Yeah, but I'm the anchor," Nishinoya thumped his chest with an air of unyielding confidence. "Nothing gets the crowd going more than when you're neck and neck against an opponent. Especially in the last leg of the race. And I'll need all your love and support to squeeze out first place for our class."
She rolled her eyes. "Uh-huh. Now go get ready." Spinning him around by the shoulders, she gave him a light shove in the direction of the announcer's booth. "We're counting on you to win."
After being coaxed along for a few steps, Nishinoya began to walk on his own. He quickly glanced over his shoulder with one of his big goofy grins.
"You betcha!"
If Chiyo were being completely honest, that smile had her heart fluttering.
Just a little.
Tumblr media
The tug-of-war event came and went, with their class barely scraping by at third place amongst the second-years. Now everything was riding on the class relays, and the runners were beginning to look especially nervous.
Chiyo pressed her lips together. She wondered if she should say something to encourage everyone when Nishinoya suddenly slapped one of the other runners on the back.
"Hey now, don't start freaking out," he hollered. "You guys got me running the anchor! There's no way we'll lose." He gave the guy beside him a reassuring look. "Come on, let's show 'em how we Class 2-2 do things!"
Upon hearing his call, the class exchanged a quick look amongst each other before raising their fists and letting out a collective battle cry in agreement.
Watching as the tension that loomed over her classmates vanished into the cool fall air, Chiyo couldn't help but feel impressed. She briefly glanced in Nishinoya's direction, who quickly caught her gaze. He winked at her, and she immediately turned away. Then, a familiar jingle played through the PA system, followed by a voice.
"Participants for the 4 x 100 class relay, please gather by the starting line. The race will begin shortly."
Upon hearing the announcement, the runners shared one last cheer with the rest of the class before heading towards the gathering point for the race.
"Good Luck!" Someone called after them.
"We're counting on you!"
"Yeah!" Nishinoya yelled back, raising a fist in the air. He looked like the protagonist of a shounen manga.
"He's pretty cool, isn't he?" Someone suddenly whispered into her ear, causing Chiyo to jump.
"Honoka!" She shot the dark-haired girl a look of annoyance before clearing her throat. "I mean, yeah, Nishinoya's part of the volleyball team. He's probably used to encouraging his teammates and stuff."
"Now that I think about it, you've never really been to his volleyball games, have you?"
Chiyo shrugged. "I'm not interested in sports."
"You sure you're not just saying that 'cause you're bad at it?" Honoka snickered.
"I'm not!" Chiyo frowned. "Besides, how fun can volleyball be? It's just a bunch of guys trying to hit a ball over the net, and wow, touch down! Three points!"
Honoka raised an eyebrow. "Okay, first of all, there were so many things wrong with that sentence. Second, you know he's gonna lose interest if you don't take some level of interest in his hobbies, right?"
"Why would I care?" Chiyo gave her friend an incredulous look. "He literally asked me out without even knowing my name! He's shallow, and cocky, and, and-!"
"Uh-huh," Honoka hummed dismissively. "Regardless, you gotta admit he's pretty cool. Enough to make your stomach get all the butterflies. I mean, your face is all red," she playfully poked at Chiyo's cheeks, to which she immediately slapped away.
"This is... It's 'cause it's hot out!" Chiyo reasoned. Honoka was right — her cheeks were scalding.
"Hey, Amari! The nurse is looking for you!" One of their classmates called out from the back.
"Anyways, excuse me." Huffing out a breath, Chiyo began to march off while Honoka waved after her.
"Good luck~!"
Tumblr media
The meeting with the nurse was uneventful. One of her classmates got hurt during the tug-of-war event, and the nurse simply called her back to update her on how said classmate was doing.
By the time she returned to the field, the relay race had already begun. She climbed onto the upper landing of the staircase and hugged the concrete pillar. From there, she could just see over the sea of heads to get a good idea of how the race was going.
They were in the third quarter of the race, and the batons were just about to be passed to the final runners. Their class was second, and the batons were coming in. Nishinoya began jogging forward, then broke into a full sprint the second the baton was safely in his hand.
Chiyo's hand clenched into a fist, resting stiffly against her chest. She could see Nishinoya pick up speed as they rounded the final corner, catching up to the girl who was in first place. Her heart was pounding in her ears, and she realized Nishinoya wasn't kidding. Nothing gets the crowd going more than when two runners are neck and neck for first place.
"You can do it," she murmured.
She saw him clench his teeth and started yelling, summoning the last of his energy as they crossed the finish line. Chiyo's eyes snapped to the scoreboard, elated to see Class 2-2 highlighted in red at first place. She figured Nishinoya must've seen the same thing because she soon heard him screaming.
"Let's go!" He threw his arms up in the air. Then immediately pointed his finger towards the crowd, skimming through the students in search of someone. "Crap, where are you?" He cussed before eventually giving up and opting to scream at the sky. "Did you see that?! That was for you, my future girlfriend!"
Chiyo jolted. Was he talking about her?
She pressed her hands to her cheeks, only to feel them heat up once more. Quickly, she climbed down the stairs and began weaving through the crowd of students. She wanted to talk to him — she needed to.
But by the time she reached a distance where she could call out to him, she realized that he was surrounded by people. Guys and girls, some from their class, some she didn't recognize. He was being praised, high-fived, and getting his hair ruffled. He laughed and threw his arms up in another cry for celebration.
For the first time, Chiyo noticed.
When did he get so popular?

Koi no Yokan 5: find reasons to say yes (Nishinoya Yuu x Reader)
First - Prev - Next - M.list - Ao3
Tumblr media
Summary: The Karasuno High School volleyball club works towards finals. You spend this time deciding how you feel about your new clubmates.
Warnings: blanket series warnings (general background family stuff)
Word count: ~4000
Tumblr media
Yachi yelps whenever you address her unexpectedly. And she's never expecting it, so she always yelps. It's cute in a skittish, scared-bunny sort of way.
This particular instance makes you laugh. "Did I do something to make you scared of me, or…?"
"N-no! What did you, um—what did you need?"
It's the first day that Hinata and Kageyama haven't come for Yachi since you got roped into this manager thing. Variously they have and haven't dragged you into studying, too, depending on the day. You guess Yachi's just more approachable, maybe, or maybe it's that Hinata is more drawn to someone who can match his energy. On the other hand, Kageyama seems to just be along for the ride more than anything, which you get. You gel with him a little better, at least. Yachi, though, you really do want to get to know, so you let your short-sightedness drag you into starting a conversation you haven't fully prepared for.
You toy with your hair idly. You're really not sure how to approach this. When was the last time you even tried? "Did you have a good weekend? I mean, I know we saw each other yesterday, but—you know. Did you?"
She visibly relaxes. You'd like to think your own pervasive awkwardness is putting her at ease. "Mm! Hinata and Kageyama-kun came over to study after practice."
"Oh, good! How're they coming along?"
"They're nervous, I think, but they've been working really hard!"
"Really? That's great!" Uh, fuck—you scramble for something else to say. "Nishinoya-senpai and Tanaka-senpai are working hard, too. I went to Nishinoya-senpai's to help them out Saturday, too."
"A-aren't they kinda scary?"
You wave a dismissive hand. "Not at all. They're kinda goofy, honestly."
"I think everyone's a little scary, still…" she sighs. "It's hard not to, you know?"
"Yeah, I get that. But trust me, they're just excitable." Okay, okay. That's good. You're getting somewhere. "Any ideas on the whole manager thing?"
She brightens, flashes a smile. "Yeah, actually! I talked to Hinata a little before he left and I think I've settled on my answer."
"That sounds like good news! Let's hear it."
"Well… two things, really. I borrowed Hinata and Kageyama-kun yesterday for this, but… I'm gonna join. I've been actually working on maybe making some donation posters? I, um, overheard Sensei talking to the coach the other day and it sounds like the club is kinda hurting for money so we can get buses and stuff…"
Shit. She's so much more put together than you are. You're gonna have to step it up if it's gonna matter that you're here at all. "Woah. That's really cool that you're doing that!" You hope your voice doesn't come out too strained.
"What about you, [surname]-chan?"
A nervous laugh. "Well, I haven't thought of doing anything cool to help the team yet, but I am starting to think maybe this whole exam deal was just a pretense to convince us to get on board. Nishinoya-senpai and Tanaka-senpai got me on Saturday, too."
"Wait, that's great! We'll be managing together, then. With Shimizu-senpai, too, of course!" Another sweet little smile.
You are somewhere between "protect this girl with your life" and "do everything possible to make sure this girl does not outshine you".
…this might be what it's like to have a sister.
"Yeah! I haven't given my application to Shimizu-senpai yet. You?"
"Nope! Honestly, I was a bit nervous to go looking for her by myself… there's no practice until after exams now, right?"
"Right. Pretty sure that's having the opposite effect, if these boys are anything to go by. I think Hinata might explode if he doesn't get enough exercise."
She laughs. "Yeah, I sort of get that impression. Do you wanna come with me to track down Shimizu-senpai so we can turn in our applications while we've got time?"
You agree easily enough, and so the two of you make your way to the first floor, where the third years have their classes. Admittedly, you have no idea where to begin looking for Shimizu beyond that. It takes most of the rest of lunch to find her, eventually spotting her in a random classroom. Really, it's the other volleyball club members you notice--the third years apparently eat lunches together from time to time, if not all the time. Asahi is much easier to spot than Shimizu is when you're skimming a room for any sight of her.
It's Sugawara that spots the two of you peeking into the room. He smiles at Shimizu, nods to the two of you. She's quick to greet you both at the classroom door.
"[name]-chan, Hitoka-chan! Did you need something?"
"Sorry to bother you, Senpai." You smile, dial up the charm. "We both wanted to talk to you about the volleyball club?"
"Oh?" Her eyes slide between you and Yachi with interest. "What is it?"
You nod to Yachi. She holds out her club application in two shaking hands. You hold out your own, a touch more casually. Not that it's hard to come off as casual standing next to Yachi. "W-we both decided to join, if that's alright!"
"Really!? That's great!" She takes both from you, eyes lighting up.
Man. No wonder Nishinoya and Tanaka are obsessed with her. She's got this like, gentle smile and shit.
"I'll get everything handled with the membership committee. Since there's no practice until after exams, that gives us more than enough time to get your jackets ordered. You included your jacket sizes in the applications, right?"
"Y-yes!" Yachi says.
You pat her shoulder reassuringly. "Breathe, Yachi-san."
"B-but we're on the third year's floor," she whispers back. "What if we're not supposed to be here?"
"It's fine. Whatever big scary thing happens, I got you."
"O-okay..."
"Thank you both so much. I'll get everything handled, you two just focus on exams, alright? You've both been helping the others study, too, right? How's that going?"
You share twin smiles with Yachi. "Good!" she chirps. "We both helped them over the weekend. [surname]-chan says that Nishinoya-san and Tanaka-san are doing well, and Hinata and Kageyama-kun were working really hard when I was with them."
"That's good. Those four are an important part of the team, so it'll be difficult if they don't get to come to the away games. Speaking of—if you both come find me after school today, we'll need to get you both to bring in permission slips for that."
Oh.
You're so fucked.
~
Okay, cool, fine, no big deal. You have a blank permission slip and a father who's never home to sign it. This is doable. This is a clear issue, and a clear issue is something that can be solved.
You walk home separately of Yachi—after you'd offered to help put up the posters when they're ready, she ran into friends and you don't want to intrude, so you take your blank permission slip and meander out of the school. You guess you'll scratch out some time to study, to freeze some meals, to… something.
Fuck. You really wish practices weren't on hold for exams.
It's not long after you've made your way out of the gate that that swoopy feeling of your feet no longer touching the ground hits you. You shriek at the arms around your waist, wriggle in the hold of your captor—
—your captor, who sets you down with his trademark blinding grin. "Hi," Nishinoya says. "That was a good noise!"
You steady yourself, hand (and now-crumpled permission slip) held to your chest. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I missed you today! It's weird not having practice."
"So you scare the shit out of me!?"
He laughs. "Sorry, sorry."
"You never really sound sorry when you apologize to me," you grumble.
"To be fair, I did call your name when I saw you. You're the one with your head in the clouds. What're you up to? Any plans with all your newfound free time?"
"Cooking dinner. I have food on the slow cooker I need to get to. And then I'm going to study. You know, that thing we're supposed to be doing with all the extra time from not being allowed to do clubs for a week?"
"Hm, that sounds like something schools made up or something. Boring."
"Uh-huh. You know, I'm not gonna marry you if you fail all your exams."
"But you will if I pass at least one?"
"Are you gonna pass any? Believing that studying is a thing people do isn't even step one. It's like, step zero."
"Study with me, then."
He flashes that charming little smile, and you shove him away. "I can't come over. The last thing I need is to burn my house down because I left dinner on the slow cooker too long and it like, blew up or something."¹¹
"So let me come over. We'll study together, I'll be good and quiet and not interrupt your precious brain training time…"
You sigh. "I'm not exactly prepared to entertain guests."
"You don't have to entertain me!"
"The house is a mess."
"So's my bedroom. You live there, what's the problem with it looking like you live there?"
He keeps easy pace beside you as you walk. "It's rude! You're not supposed to show guests a messy home when they come over."
"But you weren't expecting me. So it's not like it's your fault."
"Why are you so set on coming over to my house, anyway?"
"Curiosity. What's wrong with that?"
"I literally don't even have snacks to give you."
Without another word, he grabs your shoulder and steers you off to the side—straight to Sakanoshita. "I'm so glad you brought that up! I can treat you!"
"I think you're fundamentally misunderstanding the role a host and a guest are supposed to play."
"I'm being a friend. Friends buy each other stuff sometimes. Lemme buy you snacks. I'm horrible at remembering to do breaks and then once I actually take one I end up done for the night."
You stop in your tracks, don't let him drag you inside. "What are you doing right now?"
"Hm?" He tilts his head. "Getting rid of your reasons to say no. Why?"
…oh. That's almost sweet.
"…if you're going to insist on this, I can solve the reason for saying 'no' to going over to your house. Let's find a reason to say yes to that instead…?"
He seems to sense your discomfort, the way it seeps into your shoulders but refuses to reach your voice. There's a moment where he just looks at you, blinking, that sort of blank look that a puppy gets before it does the stupidest thing you've ever seen in your life. "Oh! That's easy. Because you want to."
You raise an eyebrow. "Do I?"
"Don't you? We're celebrating since you're joining the team! And you said before that I didn't know enough about you to be in love with you. So I need to get to know you, right? And you should get to know me. There's a yes for letting me buy snacks for you, and a yes for hanging out with me."
"If my end goal were to marry you, maybe."
He pulls you inside, not missing a beat. "I'm not giving up, so it'd be a good idea to start adjusting to the idea now."
You roll your eyes. Smile and wave to Coach Ukai, who's got one foot up on the counter, lit cigarette in hand as you enter. He nods back, raising an eyebrow at the pair of you. "Good day at school, you two?"
"He has too much energy. Please tell the school that their decision to suspend club activities during exam week is going to kill me, personally, Coach," you deadpan. Nishinoya doesn't miss a beat, dragging you towards one of the aisles.
"I'll see what I can do."
Over chips, Nishinoya talks a mile a minute and too loudly, picking up too many bags of chips as he does. "Pick something. I'm buying. What's your solution to not burning your house down?"
"I'm just going to run by my place and make sure nothing is going to burn before coming over."
"I could walk with you?"
"No," you reply, too quickly. You wince a little, try to recover. "I mean, you're grabbing a lot of snacks to carry, and I'll be quick, so…"
He watches you carefully a moment, but simply adds another snack bag of chips to his armful instead of commenting on it.
"And put some of those chips away. We're getting snacks, my dinner is already mostly done and I'm sure your family has food planned."
He pouts. He's gathered a whole armful of chip bags. "You haven't even picked out yours, yet."
"I'm not picking any if you don't put those back and get a reasonable amount of chips."
"Fiiine."
He puts back most of the bags of chips, and you straighten up the display while you mull over two flavors. Once you've settled, you grab one bag.
"Great! You wanna go grab drinks? My hands are a little full."
"Sure, sure, what do you want?"
He tells you what to grab, and you meander off. As he pays, you say: "You know I'm not gonna let you buy things for me all the time, right?"
"Tell me not to, and I won't," he replies, not missing a beat.
You say nothing. On your way out the door, you dip your head to Coach Ukai and let Nishinoya drag you along for what's sure to be a very productive study session.
~
You do actually end up studying. It takes you only a little work to corral Nishinoya into focusing. He sits across from you in his living room, focusing hard on his flashcards with this really intense look. It's laughably easy to tell how well his study session is going; every now and then, you'll notice him grimace in annoyance after flipping a card, or else brighten up a little.
For your part, you work through practice problems diligently, only glancing up every now  and then to observe your upperclassman and make sure he's still working.
It's peaceful. Nice. After a solid half an hour of quiet that you didn't know he was capable of, you stretch, ready to enforce a break, and are interrupted by something fluffy careening into your chest and borderline knocking you over. Aside from the force, it announces itself with the purriest meow you've ever heard, nearly lost—like before, you recall dimly—by your startled yelp.
Nishinoya catches the sight of you—now clutching a fluffy, bob-tailed calico to your chest as it presses its face into yours. "Oh, by the way. I have a cat," he says.
You ignore him entirely. "Oh my gosh, hi baby!"
"This is Soba.¹² She hates strangers, so I can only assume that the fact that she already loves you is a sign that you now have to marry me."
"Not if you don't ask me enough times, I don't—" Soba meows at you, snuggles into your pets with the sweetest little look on her face. Now that she's not scaring the shit out of you, you can properly look her over and zero in on her white-tipped paws. "—she has socks?"
He laughs softly, nodding. "She has socks."
"Amazing. The best cats have socks. Especially toe socks." You shoot him an amused look. "Didn't really take you for a cat guy, though."
"Does being a cat guy earn me bonus points?"
"It gives me an eternal yes to coming over." Soba wriggles out of your arms, only to curl up in your lap. "How are you not constantly covered in cat hair? She's so cuddly!"
"I'm careful and know what a lint roller is," he jokes. "Technically, she's my sister's, but… I mean, she likes me best, so…"
"I think I love her?"
"Marry me, then, and you get partial custody."
"Ask me nine hundred and eighty-four more times and give me unlimited cat access and I'll think about it."
"Deal."
"That aside, how's your studying coming along? I think I heard you swearing under your breath earlier."
He groans. "It's... it's coming along."
"What're you working on? Kanji drills?"
"Yeah... Trying to get everything hammered out before tomorrow. I need exams to be over already..."
"They'll end when they end. I'm so sorry, but you're just gonna have to stick them out. How's your brain doing? I think I smell smoke."
"Without exaggeration, I am going to explode if I do not do something with my body right now."
"See, but this is really unfortunate," you say. "I was gonna ask you to teach me a little volleyball in our break time, but I'm pretty sure moving this baby would be considered a war crime in seventy-three countries, so…"
"You want me to!?" He springs forward, flashcards forgotten. "Really!?"
"Well, your super cool libero skills would be helpful to have on deck so poor Yachi-san's head doesn't get taken off by a stray ball. Unfortunately, until this little cuddle bug leaves, that's not happening."
"…marry me, though?"
"Nine hundred eighty-three. Work hard until the next break and maybe the baby will—"
"Soba! Pspsps."
Soba perks up. Yawns. Crawls right off of you to sniff at Nishinoya's hand. He beams at you. "So, you want me to teach you to receive?"
You smile. Tighten the caps on your and his sodas as a cat prevention measure. "You sure it's a good idea to leave your snacks unattended with the baby around?"
"The baby can't open bag clips," he replies triumphantly, having produced one from seemingly nowhere and clipped both of your chip bags together.
You elect not to mention that any cat is going to have teeth strong enough to rip open the rest of the bag and let him pull you outside without another word.
~
So the rest of the study session is spent like that: long work session involving a purring cat on either your lap or his, fifteen minutes or so of him—badly—trying to explain receiving to you. It's clear he knows what he's doing and what he's talking about, but what isn't so clear is what the hell he means by things like you just gotta bump it like fwah, you know?. Still, you try your best, and breaks turn into passing the ball back and forth—him with ease, you frequently running to pick up a ball you dropped.
"Now you've got it!" Nishinoya cheers after you barely manage to not let the ball hit the ground on one of these sessions. "At this rate, you'll be playing libero for the girls' team before you know it!"
You snort. "Uh, yeah, hard pass."
"Why not? Volleyball's fun, you know."
"I'm sure it is. But A, I suck at it. And B, I'm sort of already in a club. I can't imagine I'd be a very effective player on the team if I'm instead going to all of your practices. And I'd definitely make a bad manager if I'm always going to their practices instead of yours."
"Fine, fine, I concede that it might be a little hard."
"Harder than I'm willing to bother with."
He laughs. You fail another few passes before the break is over, and then you're back inside, back to math and English and kanji and test-taking strategies.
"This is the last one, I think," you say as you settle back in at your seat. "I need to actually eat my dinner at some point, and it's getting late."
"Aw, you don't wanna stay for dinner?" He bats his eyelids at you playfully. You consider hitting him.
"My dinner is already ready, Nishinoya-senpai. No."
You fall back into studying, one last time. You're actually impressed with him—the regular breaks are definitely helping, and making sure they're active has smoothed out his jumpier edges. They were probably a bit more active than he expected, honestly—you're very bad at returning the ball, and he ended up having to dive for most of the ones you actually managed to get back in his general direction. But he's been working hard when he's back at the table, like he's taking this seriously seriously. It's refreshing.
It is with no small horror that you admit to yourself that you could actually get a crush on this guy if he were serious and you let yourself. Luckily, there's a solution to that, one you only have to do half the work for: he stays unserious about you (easy—he isn't serious and never will be) and you don't let yourself develop anything. You're great at not feeling emotions. It's like, your one big talent in life.
So when you bid him goodnight at his doorstep, you smile and wave. He waits in the doorway, reaches out to you before you go. "Wait. [name]-san."
"Mm?"
"For good luck—will you marry me?"
You laugh. Shake your head. "Give it your best, ask another nine hundred and eighty-two times, and I'll think about it, Senpai. But, just so you know, I've seen how hard you've been working, and I don't think you need the luck."
His smile is blinding when you turn to leave.
You turn down the street towards your house, smooth yourself out. The walk is brief, the house empty and quiet like always when you unlock the front door. In contrast to the warmth of his living room, it feels lonelier than ever.
You kick off your shoes, take your dinner to your own living room. Rifle around in your bag for your notebook and instead find a bag of chips—the flavor you'd set aside at the store earlier, deciding to only go with one bag and not burden Nishinoya—with a little note taped to it.
Good luck on your exams!
PS.; you can call me Noya-senpai. it's what my friends call me ;)
Fuck. You really could develop a crush if you're not careful. He's scribbled out his phone number on the note. Despite yourself, you smile and send him a text.
[name] to Noya at 19:48¹³
[name]: by the way, you format a post-script as just P.S. and then the rest of the message
[name]: two dots, no semicolon
Noya: you're welcome
[name]: ...thank you, Noya-senpai
There is a comparatively long pause of about three minutes. You watch his typing bubble pop up, disappear, then pop up again.
Noya: MARRY ME.
[name]: ...981.

Footnotes
11. Y'all are never going to believe this one, but about twenty minutes after I wrote this line, my neighbor's house burned down. Fully gutted. I got some pictures and literally heard it crashing in on itself. No one was hurt, thankfully, and it was not due to being too busy living a coming-of-age romance to keep the crock pot from bursting into flames, but that sure was a sequence of events.
12. Named courtesy of a poll on my tumblr. I choose to believe that people were voting for "grae button" (the results button so I alone could see the results) either to spite me or to force me to figure out an in-fic reason for why the Nishinoya family cat is named "Grae Button". Had there been a tie, I was simply going to add another cat.
13. Military time. Yes yes I'm American. As if it's my fault.

sugawara: and suga
daichi: and you’re watching...
sugawara: jackass!!
daichi:...buzz...buzzfeed unsolved??
daichi started out being afraid of almost every place he had to walk into but after having to deal with the chaotic mess that is suga for an entire season, he no longer Feels Fear
this is because suga will deadass film a tiktok dance video no matter where he is
daichi: suga, someone was literally axe-murdered there
suga: *dancing along to ‘I’m a Savage’ or whatever that tiktok song is called*
daichi: *at cameraman* do you see what i have to deal with every day?’
suga is only genuinely scared by ghosts when his followers point out that a ghost was caught on camera in one of his tiktok videos
suga: *watching the video*
that was the end of suga’s tiktok career
tanaka and nishinoya:
Tumblr media
another bunch of loud bois but they are much louder than kageyama and hinata
they’re very much into proving the existence of cryptids and are most known for that episode they spent hunting bigfoot by dressing up to look like bigfoot
tanaka: ‘you know that thing they do in cartoons where they stack on top of each other under a coat so they look like just one big guy?’
nishinoya: ‘ryuu i love you so fucking much’
other guy there who is also trying to catch bigfoot: oMg ItS bIgFooT *takes picture with the blurriest camera he could find*
both of them are very committed in their investigation of the supernatural and they’re very unconventional approaches
nishinoya: *lying on the ground in a creepy basement* EAT MY HEART DEMONS! WE’LL PUT THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE!
tanaka: *takes out a spirit board* *spells out O-M-A-E  W-A  M-O  S-H-I-N-D-E-I-R-U*
ghost: *spells out N-A-N-I*
tanaka and nishinoya: *screaming*
kuroo and kenma:
Tumblr media
kuroo deadass flirts with any ghost or demon they encounter and kenma would sleep over in a haunted asylum for ten bucks
kuroo: *sidles up to the infamous annabelle doll* hey there little lady, what’s a pretty thing like you doing in a locked, glass case with a ‘don’t touch’ sign like this?
kenma: kuroo, there’s a demon inside her
kuroo: well, i’m a bit of a demon myself
kenma: she attempted to choke a guy in his sleep
kuroo: oooh, choking. i can get behind that...
kenma: *looks at camera*
the demon in annabelle: d-daddy??
“kuroo flirting with demons and kenma looking at the camera for 5 minutes”
kuroo’s actually a huge fucking scaredy cat and kenma secretly tries to push him over the edge
kenma: *plays computer-generated screams of the damned on his phone*
kuroo: WHAT WAS THAT?
kenma: ...I didn’t hear anything *looks at the camera as if he was on the office and plays the sound again*
kuroo: i was too scared to close my eyes last night
kenma: i was actually able to catch a bunch of pokemon last night. who knew the winchester mansion is such a hotspot
producer: did you catch any evidence of ghosts?
kenma: ...i caught a gastly
bokuto and akaashi:
Tumblr media
bokuto is a die-hard mothman fan and akaashi is emotionally involved in proving that ghosts exist he will stop at nothing
akaashi: all of the evidence on the shadow figures and orbs spotted in this place can only suggest one thing...
bokuto: mothman did it
akaashi: no
bokuto: yes
akaashi: mothman is literally five states away
bokuto: he has wings
during their individual investigations, akaashi has already foreseen how bokuto is going to react
producer: it’s been quiet for a while. do you think bokuto’s no longer scared?
akaashi: oh no. he should be screaming right about now...
bokuto, inside the haunted house: *screams and waves his flashlight around*
akaashi:  and then he’s gonna call for help
bokuto: AKAAAAAASHIIIIIIIIII
*few hours later*
bokuto: i saw my life flash before my eyes in there
akaashi: *muttering incoherently near his ‘evidence wall’ full of blurry pictures and red string*
bokuto: i must’ve stared into the abyss at one point
akaashi: this place is fucking haunted. can i go back? it’s for sale right?
ushijima and tendou:
Tumblr media
ushijima’s knowledge of ghosts is based on hollywood movies and tendou has exorcised places just by vibing
ushijima: *brings out a pottery wheel* if there are any ghosts in here, you know what to do
he’s actually never watched Ghost he just knows That One Scene
tendou: *naruto-running through the goatman bridge with a go-pro strapped to his head* IT’S MY BRIDGE GOATMAN, IT’S MY BRIDGE!!!
the Goatman Himself: i’ve never felt so fucking scared in my entire fucking life
ushijima believes that chanting in latin will Summon the Ghosts and tendou takes full advantage of that
tendou: *handing ushijima a slip of paper* here, apparently this will summon a full-bodied apparition
ushijima: thanks *begins chanting*
producer, interviewing tendou to the side: okay, what did you make him read this time?
tendou: i typed out ‘let me eat your ass’ in latin on google translate and went from there
cameraman: *zooms in on ushijima chanting*
the ghost haunting the castle: *is confused in French*
in the end neither of them get evidence on ghosts
ushijima: well, we'll have better luck next time
tendou: maybe even revisit this place ?
the ghosts: i know i'm dead but this is the first time i've been scared for my life
