Diavolo

"Haha! Of course you can!"

Not any one would have asked the young prince if they could touch his wings, in fear that it could be seen as offensive to their beloved ruler. Any one but you. Diavolo loves that about you. So honest with him. You treat him like you would with everyone.

Diavolo's wings are grand and regal, as majestic as a dragon's. Fit for a king. Each wing is bigger than you, almost twice the size. Your hand is so very small in comparison. They feel rough but are nothing like leather. They're stronger and smoother. The power you feel from this beast from his wings alone is magnificent.

The golden parts of his wings and horns may look like jewellery but they are actually embedded into his body. It's done to every royal member of the monarchy of Devildom. Their version of a crown, something done as soon as their birth. That is the only part Diavolo won't let you touch. He doesn't swat you away or raise his voice, he just simply takes your hand and moves them away. "I know you're curious, but it would be rude," he informs you.

What ever you doing, Diavolo is wearing a massive grin throughout the whole experience. Such a goofy expression compared to his demonic form. You just look so cute with that fascination in your eyes. How could he not smile?

You can touch his wings whenever you want to, Diavolo loves this affection. Although every demon in the room hold their breath when you do.

Barbatos

"... Well, I can't see a timeline where you don't."

Barbatos hates his tail being touched because of how sensitive it is. If any living thing accidentally brushes against it, even for a second, his tail will flinch. The reason for this sensitivity is because it is made to feel the miniscule movements in the environment. Be it physical, magical or spiritual. It's perfect for a being made to foresee events. Unfortunately, it also makes him feel overwhelmed when just anyone will grab it and it frustrates him. Mammon learnt the hard way.

Barbatos naturally says no to these questions but like he just said, he can't see a timeline where you don't touch it. Perhaps he trusts you in every single one, he doesn't specify.

Barbatos braces himself as you lay your palm gently on his tail. It's smooth and slimy, your hand can easily glide across it. The longer you hold his tail, the more your fingers begin to tingle with an magnetic feel; Your hair stands on edge. It's strange.

It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be if he was honest. Although it's still making him shake. He feels vulnerable which hasn't happened to him in eons. It's shocking to feel that emotion again. He's glad he can trust you in that state.

Barbatos is much calmer with you near his tail. It has started to lean against you now, with no hesitation and minor shakiness. He will still jump if you just grab it though, give him a warning beforehand.

Simeon

"Beautiful? Aw, thank you, MC. Of course."

Simeon has one pair of white wings although they aren't as glorious as one would expect from such a saint. They aren't as thick with feathers as Lucifer's or as fluffy as Luke's. They're simple, modest, and humble. Yet you gave him a reaction he'd expect from someone seeing Michael's wings. He's flattered.

The first thing you notice as you hand strokes his wings is how warm they are, like a cozy cottage fire. You could hug them for hours... When you do hug it, Simeon laughs and folds the wings to pull you closer. Such bliss.

Simeon happily hugs you with his wings from now on. Holding you on his lap and his wings wrapped around the both of you while reading a fairytale.

He used to believe his wings were never special and that never bothered him. Now, however, you think they are. Now they feel magical to him, thanks to you.

Luke

"Thank you! Normally I'd say no but since it's you, you can."

Luke is very pleased you like his wings! You're one of his favourite people and your opinion matters to him more than he thought it would.

Big and puffy, the purest white is the only way I can describe his wings. Petting his wings is like petting a fluffy puppy. So soft. They're also really warm, like a soft hot water bottle.

They show that a lot of care has been put into his wings which makes sense considering that an angel's wings are seen as a gift from god, and he has three pairs of them!

Luke's wings are comedically large compared to his size. Almost every demon in RAD pointed this out immediately and made laughs about it, telling him not to trip on them. Simeon says that he'll grow into them eventually.

If you bring up the fact that he let you pet his wings, especially to one of the brothers like Lucifer, the teasing will get worse. "MC said your wings were soft, like a tiny dog. Is that right, chihuahua?" 😡

so i'm pretty sure i'm demi.

not like, a 100%, but right now it fits, so that's what i've been calling myself.

every person or character i've been consistently sexually attracted to, the attraction appeared after i spent a lot of time thinking about them and getting to know their personality, their soul i felt like. even when completely parasocial - often parasocial, which is kinda sad, but anyway.

it's funny, because demisexuality is actually something i ruled out pretty early in my label journey.

i realized at some point i didn't experience sexual attraction nearly as much as allos, so i began to identify as gray. and i did know it was more common for me to feel it for people i cared about deeply, but i also thought, you know, that's just one of the factors, it's not really like a major pattern.

but over time, while i was running this blog, i kinda uh. figured out that 90% of the times i thought i was sexually attracted to someone were either

💜 aesthetic attraction - they are pretty and cool and i like looking at them, that's the same thing as wanting to see them in a sexual light right? (it was not the same thing)

💖 romantic attraction - i may be in love, i want to be emotionally close to them and exchange affection; i might have sex with them if they asked, provided we've built enough trust (also not the same thing)*

🧡 sensual attraction - i would like to touch them, so it logically follows i want to touch them sexually (nope)

or involuntary physical arousal caused by a sexual context (nothing to do with attraction at all and doesn't even imply actual enjoyment)

(*keep in mind that i am alloromantic. i catch feelings pretty easily.)

here's an interesting thing:

it's not just that romantic feelings for me don't immediately come with sexual attraction. in the majority of cases, the sexual attraction never develops at all, even if i build a connection with the person, even if i am fully in love. i have crushes that gain a sexual element, but most of my crushes are asexual. is this a graydemi thing? potentially! i would like to hear if this is the case for other demis and also non-demi grays.

basically, the longer i think about my sexuality, the more i realize i actually feel sexual attraction much less than previously thought.

the once in a blue moon occurence of me experiencing true sexual attraction always fucks me up though, because it's so intense. and i don't know if it only feels intense because i'm not super used to it, or because there's always an emotional investment there, but it's given me impostor syndrome.

and, you know, sometimes i have to remind myself that, oh, most allosexuals probably don't exclusively feel this way about like, 4 specific people in the first 23 years of their life. (sidenote, if you're allo, how do y'all function? do you get used to it eventually or are you just permanently made a little dumber by the horniness?)

i guess besides my consistent demi feelings i still have these random weak flashes of attraction to other people? which is why i still go with gray mainly. and aceflux is significant for me still, because it does seem to come and go in waves. but i just don't know, because these feelings don't come up often enough for me to fully figure out the patterns. if there even are patterns!

i'm still figuring this shit out! and i would not be able to get as far as i have if i hadn't started running this blog. it's taught me just as much as (i hope) it has taught you.

let this also be a reminder to you that people are bigger than labels. the words are there for us to understand ourselves and communicate better, but words are just words at the end of the day. "close enough" is good enough.

I lowkey miss when rpers used big gifs or plain icons and no one cared that much about aesthetics. Obviously, it's not a requirement but I do feel like I have slightly less people wanting to write with me because my blog doesn't have pretty icons etc. I just work with what I have in terms of resources that I can find etcetera. And I remember when everyone did that and I sometimes wish the RPC would get back to that. I don't think people /only/ care about aesthetics, but personally I don't care about them at all, I just care about the writing. And I feel like the RPC should feel the same way, you know. At the end of the day, FCs and icons and gifs/gif icons are just to show our muse's expression and make them come to life a bit. What really matters is the writing. Maybe I'm just old and nostalgic, but idk.

Unless someone has actually done something harmful (abuse, bigotry, etc.) I just don't see the point in banning fcs. Even then, I definitely could see how someone could still use a FC who has done something harmful because using a FC does not equal approving of everything they've done ever, it's just you using a visual representation for a character. Now I'm not saying people can't ban FCs if they want to, of course. But most of the time, if the people on someone's banned list haven't done anything that I'm aware of, I'm always left wondering "why?" And even if the person hasn't done anything wrong, maybe they're just banned because they're an overused FC etc. I think that is kinda weird, because every muse is different and just because someone is using XYZ person as a FC doesn't mean you necessarily know what their muse is like, you know? I usually just won't follow someone who has a super long banned list, simply because I just...don't personally get it. I do understand that certain people have done harmful things and so people don't want to see them. I do understand that. But half the time, I'm left wondering what the 1,0000 people on someone's list have actually done. Or when people say "everyone in X show" like....what did that show do to you or to anyone, ya know? Fair enough if you don't like a show. But like....that's no reason to punish the actors in it, you know? Or to say others can't use them as FCs for their muses. Obviously, if someone wants to ban a FC, that's fine. I've changed FCs on several of my muses when their original FCs were revealed to be harmful. However, I also think that finding FCs is hard enough without having to take a mile long list into consideration. Obviously, it's fine for people to have banned lists. I'm not saying they can't. It just confuses the heck out of me sometimes when I don't know what half the people on the list have even done to be on it. Like....some people just seem to ban tons of people in blanket statements without taking into consideration that....everyone's muse is different and it's hard to find a FC that fits one's image of a muse. Idk if I'm making any sense, but if not, feel free to ask questions heheh. Also, ever since changing FCs for one of my muses, one of my OCs, I have a ton less muse for them. Now I think that's due to several factors, not just the FC change, and I do like their new FC. No one forced me to change it either, it was my choice. But I do think that things like that and how hard it is to find FCs in the first place that fit one's image of a muse should be taken into consideration. And people shouldn't ban people for no reason. There should be actual reasons behind the banning. At least, IMO. Like if I'm gonna ban a FC (largely I don't for the reasons I've stated before), they would have actually done something harmful/wrong, not just been in a show I didn't like or something along those lines. And personally, I believe that if people are going to ban FCs they should understand that it can occasionally make things harder for RP partners. Because not everyone can change FCs without completely losing muse. IDK if I'm making any sense, but yeah. That's my take. LOL . Feel free to ask questions.

wish i did not care at all to even listen to her albums at this point. maybe i'm too gay for this?? feels like her growth has stopped, she shifted at folklore, maybe that was the last one, and then goodbye, creative musings. we're stuck in a loop of diary entries that could be on a blog. i feel so disappointed and upset; it's been brewing a lot, what with the previous midnights mid failure, but dear reader still gave me a speck of hope. if not through her personal posts, at least i thought i'd still have her artistry connecting to my feelings, but it's so disconnected, like paths have diverted, and i wish i didn't want anything from her. it's just sad to part so bitter after years of holding her in my pocket through all the steps in my life, defending her and believing the stories she told. many are saying it's her trying to make us see her as human. maybe. she seems so lost in herself it's like she needs the reminder that she's more than a product she's been working two decades to sell. maybe she should escape. do an eat pray love and come back grounded, speaking up when she's screaming inside instead of bottling it up for a not half decent spoken album where she says she's not feeling well and that's all. say the things that are bothering you instead of complaining that life's hard for a billionaire when you haven't even shown you care about the horizon beyond yourself. say it!! fucking free yourself of your dad and your team and the cages you let stifle you! you have power and you act like you don't, like it wouldn't matter, like money's not what you want when you're selling 4 different vinyls then release a second full album after most of your fans already bought into your stuff. if you think about other things than yourself, it's not showing. if you want compassion, show it in return.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t fit the aesthetic of your blog, but I’ve followed you for a while and you seem like you give good advice. Please don’t feel like you have to answer.

I got broken up with a few months ago. I asked for “too much” when I had asked for time, respect and effort. We had argued a lot in the weeks prior because I couldn’t get over the past (he broke up with me once before when i asked for a long term relationship, made comments on my body twice—but it was the completely wrong time and place, called me a derogatory name “as a joke”) were just some of the things I struggled to move past, ultimately I couldn’t move past them and he’d shout at me saying “you live in your head” “i’ve apologised once i’m not apologising again” and would ignore me and become distant when I bought up my feelings.

Anyway, clearly it wasn’t a healthy dynamic. It ended, of course, he said it was entirely my fault and he couldn’t meet my needs, he fell out of love, we’re too young etc etc. Cool. But this break up has destroyed me. I sent a final message via a friend because we’re no contact (he said we’d meet, he never showed up, ignored me ever since). The final message was “I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough”

The thought of everything consumes me. My performance at work has dropped, I have no desire to “make it”, I cry. A lot. non stop. It’s like the whole situation has consumed me and it’s stuck in my brain. My confidence is the lowest it has ever been, I struggle to socialise. I’ve tried therapy and honestly, it doesn’t feel like it’s working. I have very few friends, very little family, I work remote. I don’t have goals or dreams I’m so lost. It hurts even more that I get these stupid dreams where we have that closure conversation or we are happy together. I don’t even think I believe in love. How can someone go from saying “I want you, I’ll do everything I can to be the one for you” “I love waking up next to you” “You’re perfect, you’re truly special, I love you” to “I don’t think my heart is in it anymore, you’re asking me for too much”

Even the way it ended was really difficult. He claims he didn’t know he fell out of love yet i knew from the look on his face and the way he was acting the day before he ended it. I’m so so lost. Why wasn’t I good enough? I did everything I could to keep him happy, I cared, i listened, I treated every word and feeling like glass, I compromised, always apologised first. I did everything.

I'm so sorry that happened to you and that you're having a difficult time healing from it. Yes, it was clearly a toxic relationship and they were a toxic person but that still doesn't mean that you didn't have good times together and that you can't be sad that it ended. Please just be gentle with yourself right now and don't judge yourself for feeling the way that you feel. You're still grieving the end of this connection and while you can logically say that it wasn't good for you, it's going to take more than that to mend your heart. I won't lie, it's not going to be easy but you probably know that. It'll take time. I'm not sure when this happened but even if it was awhile ago, it's important to realize that we all heal at different paces. Plus, healing is not linear. You'll have to work at it and some days you'll feel like you're making progress and other days, you'll feel like you're making no progress at all. Just know that it's all a part of the process, my friend.

Also, feeling lost and lacking motivation after going through something like that is totally normal. Just take it day by day. You will get through it, I know you will. And sweetheart, it had nothing to do with you not being good enough. How he treated you said more about himself than it did about you? So, please don't put yourself at fault for his actions.

I would suggest to stay in therapy even though it may not seem like it's doing much right now. Again, it takes time. So, keep at it. Unless you don't like your therapist and they are genuinely not helpful. If that is the case, I would suggest getting a different therapist and see if that makes a difference.

Above all, just be gentle with yourself, don't rush the healing process, and allow yourself to cry and grieve as you need to.

However I feel sometimes a little bit sad because I sometimes not recognize myself through the pictures you're sharing. They are beautiful ofc. But as a curvy woman with bulge, cellulite and an unconventional body, sometimes I feel like I'm not able to aim the "femme fatale vibe"... I say this without any hatred, I'm just wondering :

- do you have any recommendation to feel powerful, sexy and mysterious with my extra weight ?

- I'm thinking of Ashley Graham who is stunning but i feel like she's an exception...

- how can I BE confident with my body and other gaze's ? (for e.g. my buttom is pretty flat but I have curves so I don't know how to conciliate both. I find it incompatible)

This underlying secrecy and one-upping culture we're conditioned to buy into as women reeks of the patriarchy, so I'm more than happy to play in dismantling this toxic societial mentality. I totally get your sentiment. The inspiration I reshare here is just that – inspiration for things to admire and tailor to our unique preferences, lifestyles, bodies, environments, etc. if we so choose to. I believe that we all can embody the "femme fatale" aesthetic – by dressing and putting ourselves together in a way that makes us feel our best /most taken care of, exploring and sharing all of the amazing ways we can derive pleasure from our bodies (through fashion, health & wellness practices, healthy lifestyle choices, sexual pleasure, etc.).

I think that these are some helpful tips to feel more powerful and sexy at any size:

Learn how to dress for your body and tailor it to your personal style – consider whether you have a longer or shorter torso/legs, which are the widest and narrowest parts of your body? What shapes best flatter your figure and in what combinations (e.g. flowy on top, narrow on the bottom, vice versa, or a more flowy/tight ensemble that emphasizes your waist, shoulders, or legs?)

When it doubt, choose black clothing or garments in darker, vampy hues, and select fabrics that are thick and well-tailored/structured or very forgiving fabrics that glide over your curves (like satin)

Pamper your skin, hair, and curate a beauty routine that makes you smile every time you look in the mirror (makeup, hairstyle, nail color/shape, perfume, etc.)

Create habits that help you feel your best in your body – eating healthy and exercising daily purely for energy and mental clarity, indulgent showers, beauty routines, and massages, cultivating a satisfying self-pleasure/sexual practice, creating an environment that heightens your sensory pleasure – wearing a satin robe, cozy blankets, delicious smelling lotions, room sprays, etc.

Not feeling comfortable in your body after gaining weight is completely normal, so validate these emotions if you're dealing with some cognitive dissonance between your mind and body in this regard. So what’s gaming pastas favorite food, aesthetic fashion style be like?

Now before I answer I wanna get a few things clear:

I don't know much about fashion or aesthetics, I will use what I know to explain as well as what I believe fits the most-

I will not do every Gamingpasta, because otherwise I may lose my mind, I'll just use the “Big 8” for now.

I don't want these to overshadow what this blog is for, aka my self-indulgent need to show my creations due to my ships and AUs. But obviously this doesn't mean I dislike answering Gamingpastas related questions or ramble about my made up “lore” or headcanons. Just be aware that this blog is for many things, mainly self-indulgence. It's more I don't want you to get disappointed due to believing this blog is promising smth different.

Okay, enough of that, let's go ahead.

Ben: Honestly, given his years long imprisonment and abuse, the act of someone making food for him, especially sweets or something warm mean more to him than a favorite food in general. Tho if he had to pinpoint, prolly like doughnuts, pudding and chocolate. He also used to be weary of meat dishes when he still lived in the mansion due to EJ and Liu mainly looking after him, even though EJ of course never fed them human meat. His fashion style is honestly whatever he wants to wear, casual, emo, crazy 90s, even crossdressing. In fact he has a whole closet with clothes he wanted to get cause he simply liked them but never wears, he prefers stealing from Silver or alike lol. But if he had a specific style I guess Scene fits him quite well. The mix of punk or emo with many colours like the 90s, just noice.

Silver: I headcanon him to be a pescatarian , aka he doesn't eat meat, but still eats fish. He likes nearly everything that warms one up or is well cooked, as he enjoys cooking himself (Don't ask why I have that hc I just do). A food coming to his mind quickly is muffins or ramen. He also loves hot drinks, like coco, tea or coffee. He prolly prefers baggy, comfortable casual clothing, not really a whole aesthetic, tho I can see him pull of most alternative styles.

Steven: He likes to share, as he's what most would call a bro or buddy type. Some also like calling him the mom friend despite not seeming like it at first. So he is basic and likes pizza, nearly all variants. I guess his style is similar to Silver, though he doesn't mind if the casual clothes aren't as baggy, big, comfortable. He also likes them being a tad more sporty, in order to walk and move around better.

Glitchy: Glitchy is full vegetarian. There isn't really much to add here, he does like curry. Especially those formed to look like Pikachu. Perhaps someday he'll allow himself to fully try out life and try things to find a favourite food. As for clothing, I think whatever fits best at the moment, tho he is very interested in steampunk. Lots of gears, perfect for mechanics, suits and like to still look fancy, nice fall colours, it seems made for him.

Dark: Don't tell anyone, but Dark secretly really likes candy, especially the Japanese star candy. He used to often bring it to Ben and would eat some by pretending to only do it, so Ben won't eat all as that's unhealthy for a growing boy. He also likes most meat dishes. Fashion style is definitely goth. Black always, lol. Except for the rainbow friendship bracelets Ben gave him.

Brine: Also pretty basic, he likes meat dishes, mainly steak and very casual clothing. Never really cared to find out his style of choice.

I feel like I want to speak to this post because of how so many trans men often feel about your text posts and art, which can often be read as violent graphic dysphoric detail and trigger a lot of trans men with how they do not want moments where they do not pass to be seen as an invitation to be sexualized or have attention drawn to them in the way that your entire blog advocates for.

You have the right to make art and statements you do, and I hope you continue doing so.

The part that is usually the most emotional to people is where Orchard Blossom goes through the obstacle course in ways that will absolutely trigger some form of dysphoria, even secondhand, for people who are not trans women.

This is not inherently transphobic in the same way that your art isn't inherently transphobic.

the episode can be read as good faith sincerity with how it speaks to feeling excluded and the pain of yearning for a role that discourages you to achieve, always forced to put your head down and endure the expectations you have to squeeze yourself into- and the absolute joy of finally experiencing freedom and confidence to finally have-a-voice after so long of hiding, feeling like an inconvenience just for existing, and not wanting to take up space because you feel like you never deserved it

this is a near universal trans experience that any gender or lack there of can relate to in a gendered gate kept world.

The episode was written by cis people for a show that was always only ever concerned with cis women and the 3rd wave feminism that was lacking in the intersectionality that allows for terf/swerf/gender critical bigotry.

Also the constraints of it being a kid's show and limited with how short episodes are and how fast they are expected to be made. The episode was written by cis people with the voice of big mac being a father to a trans daughter who he had loosely talked to about but ultimately that doesn't give any creative power to the episode

Now a days we have more ways to push writers to consult with the communities and representatives of wider human conditions to represent without bad faith and misinformation.

Hateful characters and slurs even still have the power to be reclaimed and be warn as a badge of identification and recognition of a history and trauma so with how the show was a lighthouse for so many marginalized people of all kinds especially queer people i really think that as a whole regardless of how "gross the dysphoria triggering scenes" are I really think the message at the end, where the judges don't even argue for a second that Orchard Blossom isn't a "sister" that its enough to treat this with good faith

Because we have to be careful on how we talk about caricatures even the most hateful of ones because there might be someone in our community that (willingly or unwillingly) have those traits and it wold be bad to target the marginalized group for "fitting the harmless aesthetics of a stereotype that we deem cringe" and not "the bigot that thinks that having blue hair is enough to warrant the death sentence so will group other traits in with blue hair to encourage a cringe response just at the sight of blue hair"

To my favorite and most notable example of people making Orchard Blossom fan art as a symbol of trans pride i point to @punkitt-is-here (all her my little pony fan art is great but shes so popular you already know that i bet)

Supporting your IF Authors: A tutorial (?)

I had made a small tutorial back on @interact-if a few months ago. Here is the very extended version. Also this is a very long post.

Obviously, you are not forced to do every single one of those actions below (it would be hypocritical of me to say so), but it helps show the authors their readerbase care about their works. Most action only takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes.

Let me know if I forgot something or made a mistake!

Note: while this is specific to IF authors, it can also be applied to other creators.

TLDR: Engage with stuff you like. Lurking might be nice and easy for you but can be detrimental to your fav author. Sharing is caring, y'all! Also, please don't keep the base avatar, it makes us think you are a bot. Don't behave like a bot.

Many ways to interact with the authors you follow. Some are very simple but not really effective. Others require a bit more effort but really goes a long way.

Likes

The easiest to do. Just one click on the heart.

Pros: - tells your fav author you like their stuff. - easiest thing to do. Cons: - It's pretty much just a bookmark function on this site. - The "algorithm" doesn't really care for it.

ALSO: don't feel weird about going through the archive and like old posts. You'll prob find some gems there. LIKING OLD CONTENT IS NOT CRINGY!!!

Reblog

Requires maybe 3 more clicks and some typing if you add comments/tags. Still relatively easy. Best way to share what you like to others. The only way a post appears on a dashboard.

Pros: - tells your fav author you like their stuff in a more ✨🌟personalised 🌟✨way. - helps their post travel this hellscape and reach other people who could like this content (see addendum at the end). - the "algorithm" likes it. - you can queue them for a later date/so you don't spam your followers. Cons: None (lol).

Notes: - do not reblog posts with a #don't reblog tag. - consider adding trigger warnings to your reblogs if the original one has some too. - TEMPLATE/ASSETS/RESSOURCE: always reblog those to help your neighbour. Who knows? One of your followers or your follower's followers might be looking for that. Also: good karma. - post doesn't fit your ✨aesthetic ✨? have a side-blog and put it there.

Asks

Needs a bit more effort. You need to think of words to write or picture to send. Also, can feel a bit nerve-wracking interacting with someone you look up to (they're like you, don't worry). But one of the most rewarding note for authors.

Pro: - you have a direct line of communication with the author, making it easy to ask questions, give feedback/comments. - you can positively impact their days with a few words. Yup. Seriously. - most authors really like asks, it's probably the most engaging response you can get from your readers. - you can asks stuff anonymously (unless the author has turned it off), we've all done it. Cons: - you need to think of words to say and muster the courage to press ask. - it might not available because other people abused it/were dicks in the author's dm.

Ask Etiquette/Advice

Be nice and respectful! Just because you have a direct/anonymous like to that author doesn't mean manners can be thrown out the window. They are like everyone: humans with feelings. Internet may make it difficult to see other people as... well people, but they are. Don't be a dick. A Hello or How are you? really goes a long way.

Ask questions about the project/process Interested in a particular part of the project or the authors' process? Ask about it! We love to talk about our projects and characters.

Feedback doesn't have to be complex/long. If you don't know how to put your feelings about their works into words, take a small aspect of the project and explain why it stuck with you. I really liked how you portrayed X's relationship with Y. That scene with Z made me feel V. Or you can be a bit more generic (still add a bit of yourself): Your writing is great! The UI is very pretty. The game is amazing.

Don't demand things. Duh. That's rude.

Don't spam. Even if they don't reply to your question right away. They may have a reason not to do it. Or they want to keep your post for just themselves. May be ok for positive ones (ask first).

Replies

This is fairly new on Tumblr (2021?). They're pretty much comments without rebloging. Great for giving feedback/sending love to a specific post.

Pro: - Yay engagement. - Another way to send your fav author love! Cons: - That's it. It's not visible unless you open the notes of a post. Unsure if it makes any difference in the algorithm. - it is not anonymous.

Other ways

A non-exhaustive list:

Create fan art : Always appreciated, we love to see your interpretation of our work and your OCs. Caveat: only if the author allows it. Ask the author if you are unsure.

Participate in Beta-Testing : Big part of IF it testing before release. Many authors will have a call for beta a few weeks/months. Consider rebloging that too.

Answer Poll/Feedback forms : Aside from Beta-testing, authors may post a poll or ask for feedback for a functionality/path. This is a great way for us to get direct responses. Consider rebloging that too.

Published Platform

There are many places where an author can publish their games. Below are the most used/known ones. You will require an account for most of those (it's worth it, I promise).

Itch has a lot of games.

A LOT of Games. To help your favourite game gain traction, you need to... engage with it! All ways are super easy and takes very little time too!

Play the Game

Duh. (Also I lied about the time it takes, that will depend on the game) Account not required.

Collection

You can add games/assets/whatever page on a collection (folder) to keep it as a to play later or share as a game you enjoyed. You can make those collections public and share it to the world!

To do that, click on Add to Collection (top left corner on laptop, bottom bar on mobile) and choose the collection you want.

Rate the Game

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3. Nope, not joking. 3 clicks and that's it. Ready?

Click on Rate this... on the top-left corner of the page.

Click on the amount of stars you want to give.

And click Submit.

Aaaaand that's it. Easy-peasy.

For Mobiles: the UI is a bit wonky and doesn't give you the option to rate a game. As such, you have 2 options:

put your phone in landscape mode: the feature will be at the top of the page (see below, I took a random game from the front page).

put the page in desktop mode (Chrome, Firefox) and follow the same description as above.

NOTE: This functions is not available if the game has been submitted to a Jam/Comp and said Jam is in its voting period! It will be available again when the ranking/votes have been released. If possible, consider voting for that game in the Jam/Comp as well.

Review the Game

Want to give your rating a bit more depth? Or you have a comment you want to give the author? Then add a review to your rating before clicking on Submit! Note: The review is only visible to the author.

Leave a Comment

You can leave a comment at the bottom of the game's page. Can be a few words, can be an essay, whatever floats your boat.

Don't know what to say? Take a small aspect of the game and explain why it stuck with you. EX: I really liked how you portrayed X's relationship with Y. That scene with Z made me feel V. The UI/Design is W.

Also, you get notified if the creator answers your comment!

Share the game

There is not specific button on itch to share a game. BUT: you can copy the page's link and paste it wherever you want to share the game! Easy-peasy!

Other ways

Follow the Author: to get updated on the game's process, bugs fixes or updates.

Like/Comment on/Share Devlogs: those logs have a Tab similar to the main page where the most popular ones are more visible. You can like the logs on that log's page or in your feed if you follow that author; share directly on twitter/facebook (or copy paste the link to whatever platform); or comment on the page (if available).

Interact in the Community tab: a.k.a. Itch's forum. Discuss, review or recommend games there!

CoG Forums

Specifically for CScript games posted on Dashingdon or posted through CoG/HostedGames. Used for feedback, coding questions, writing questions... for CScript games.

Authors can create threads where the game can be discussed by other users. The thread locks itself automatically after 60 days since the last comment or if the author requests it.

As far as I know (not my preferred platform tbh), there are no rating systems on CoG. Games with payable content can be rated on other platforms (can be seen at the bottom of the page).

IFDB/IF Community Forum

IFDB - Interactive Fiction DataBase

As the name implies, the website works as a sort of archive/database for IF works. There are over 11k games (ongoing/completed) listed. Reviewing and Commenting is fairly easy. You can also put a game on your wishlist or indicate whether you've played it.

Rating is a one click job: on the amount of stars you want to give. And that's it!

Reviewing looks a bit more complicated at first, but I promise it's not too hard! The review link will send you to another page, where you will be asked to enter your comments about the game, add a title and optionally tag it. When you are done, click on the preview button at the bottom of the page. You get to review how your comment will look before publishing it (see below)

You can also create polls or participate in one, join a club, browse other reviews and game listings, etc...

IF Community Forum

Very similar to the CoG forum, but is open to other programs (Twine, Inform, Renpy...) and all sorts of IF (text base, VN, parser...). You can find help for coding or writing, talk about games you like....

There are special categories to review IF games or recommend some to other users.

As with every Forum communities, please be mindful of the rules of said forum before posting!

Steam

Share game with friends/other websites

Words-of-mouth is a great way to help a game get more attention. And if one person talks to another person who talks to another person... that's already 3 more players right there :D

Talk about your favourite IF with your friends, or family. Mention it to acquaintances or people who you think might enjoy it.

If you'd rather avoid sharing your love to people you know IRL, you can always post about it on other platforms than the ones above. Talk about the game on websites like Reddit (there are IF communities there, albeit not very large), Twitter (if it survives, lol), Discord Servers, Forums, etc...

Obviously, don't spam people. That might reflect badly on the author.

Do Streaming Parties!

This comes with the caveat of: with the permission of the author.

Doing Let's Plays of games or discussing IF works on streams might be another good way to introduce more people to games you enjoy. This can give a different life to the work, especially if you actually read the text aloud and do voices. This way it can let the work even speak for itself.

Platforms like YouTube or Twitch are relatively helpful to set streaming up. Though you may require some specific hardware to run it.

If you plan on streaming a game, do ask the author beforehand.

Monetary support

If you can afford it or if your budget allows it, you can consider supporting your favourite author(s) with real money! You may get extra content or special features (ex: alpha release) for doing so.

Below are a few ways I've seen being used, but the best way is to follow the author's links/preferrence.

Tumblr: Tips/Subscriptions

This is a new functionality (2022), where you can now subscribe or tip a creator for their posts.

Note: Tumblr takes 5% commission on subscription but 0% on tips.

Patreon/Tipee

I think everyone knows about Pateron by now. Tipee if the European version of Patreon. They work the same way.

Note: Patreon charged your account when you sign up and on the 1st of every month + takes 9-12% commission on monthly income. Tipee is 8%.

Kofi

Another tipping platform (with less fees for the creator). Also used often for commissions.

Note: Kofi takes 0% to 5% commission + 3-4% from the payment processor.

Paypal/CashApp/Venmo/etc...

Another way to tip your author or pay for commission. Commission depends per platform.

Pay as you want/Donation Button Itch

Some authors have left the option to pay as much as you want or have a donation button on their game's page. You can donate/pay for the game this was as well!

Note: Itch takes a 10% commission on each sale EXCEPT on Creator's day (2/3 times a year).

I remembered your Alexander Goth lookbook and it left me wondering since idk if anyone ask you yet: What's Alex's relationship with his family if that's okay to ask?

Oh I love talking about my son Alexander 😍!!! It's absolutely fine that you asked! This will be a very long answer so I apologize for that in advance!

I imagine that Alexander has a really good relationship with his whole family and that family in general is extremely important to him. He cares deeply about his culture, maintaining family traditions, knowing his family history/ancestry, spending time with his family (immediate and extended), and so on. But on the other hand, his parents are both very famous... and he hates that. He hates that his name brings him so much attention and that he feels like he has to share his parents with the world (my poor boy just wants a normal life tbh). He can also feel woefully normal and average at times next to his eccentric family who fit that macabre and over-the-top aesthetic so well. But the "negative" feelings he has are so so low honestly, because he feels lucky to have the loving family he has.

His relationship with each family member (in his household) is distinctly different.

Both of his parents are extremely supportive in their own ways, but between Bella and Mortimer, I've always thought that Alexander is closest to Bella. I can imagine her always doting over him because he actually lets her (pinching his cheeks, comforting him/reassuring him, calling him little endearing nicknames, that kind of stuff). Bella gives the best advice, and if Alexander needs a shoulder to cry on, Bella is always there! She's also the one who pushes him out of his comfort zone a lot and reminds him that he's perfect exactly the way he is and doesn't need to be so hard on himself (a reminder he needs every now and again).

Mortimer and Alexander's relationship is unique because I think Mortimer shows his love through acts of service (patiently teaching Alexander to play the piano, getting the chain on his bike fixed without saying anything, having Alexander's fish tank cleaned when he notices his son is super busy and hasn't gotten around to it etc.). He isn't a "sayer" but a "doer," so I don't imagine they have a lot of deep conversations - but the love is very much there*** and Alexander knows that! (For the record, I think they're actually more alike than they realize.)

Cassandra is very serious and kind of a moody loner, but I imagine that she is protective over Alexander (and that he is protective over her, too). They fight like siblings do of course, and she teases him relentlessly, but she knows him scarily well (she's just hella observative like that). Unlike Bella who might not want to push him to talk before he's ready, Cassandra will march right up to his room, barge in, and straight up be like "You're moping. You never mope. Tell me what happened." I do feel like he can ask Cass anything without being judged, and if he says something that scares or worries her she won't show it, which he appreciates because he hates worrying people/people fussing over him in general.

***Quick rant about Mortimer: I have always thought that Mortimer loves his family so much and sometimes people think otherwise because they only see the reclusive writer who is constantly working next to the most beautiful, charismatic, outwardly lovey person on the planet...but he is enamored and overwhelmed by the love he feels for Bella, Cassandra, and Alexander! He would do anything for them - he would kill for them, he would die for them - and feels very lucky to have them! He just sucks at PDA but Bella knows how he feels (he tells her when they're alone all the time) and his kids know he loves them! No Mortimer slander will be found on my blog lol!

Anyway I obviously love this family! Other families in town think they're super weird and creepy but really they're the happiest most loving bunch of people who also happen to be spooky as heck (with the exception of Alexander who is the least spooky of the three but supports his family's weirdness wholeheartedly).💕

You know those blocks with letters of the alphabet on that you have when you're little to help you learn how to write? Well apparently my dad used to spell rude words out with them 😂😂 and of course I had no idea what they meant so he could get away with it (he is just generally the most immature person ever. 😝 For example, EVERY time we eat melon he makes jokes. Every time anyone mentions buttering toast he makes jokes. Every time anyone says or does anything remotely innuendo-sounding, he makes jokes. And honestly I love him for it 😂)

I prefer to walk barefoot everywhere, but yes, when I have to wear socks they're ALWAYS odd

Secondly, for a few months i’ve been trying to find out if i’m pan because i’m ace and it makes it a bit confusing 😅 for years i’ve been saying that i’m bi but it didn’t feel right until i discovered that i’m also ace. I kinda have a preference for men but overall i also prefer neither in a way? I tend to be attracted more by the person and how they are not necessarily by their looks? And by my understanding of what pan is i think i fit more into that but i would love a second opinion? But then there’s also aesthetic attraction which confuses me a bit and stops me from actually figuring this out? to start, I'm of the mind that there is no set-in-stone difference between bi and pan labels, only personal preference. I'll save the historical lesson (unless someone asks genuinely, then I will elaborate gladly), but tl;dr: the definitions people now often use to distinguish the two (often "gender doesn't factor at all for pans, it does for bis") is only one VERY narrow viewpoint, and bi+ scholars tend to agree that there's no set distinction, with people identifying as one, the other, or both (like me!) for as many reasons as there are bi/pans.

also, as a second but more important disclaimer: don't worry about "fitting" into a label or term. all that matters is that a label feels right to you, and that it works for you.

but, back to what you asked:

Having a preference for one gender or another is very often considered a bi thing, and if you choose to keep that label, you're unlikely to turn any heads. I find myself identifying as bi more and more for this exact reason: aesthetic attraction often does feel like it involves gender, and that's important for others to understand about me. If it brings you ease of mind to leave that open, a bi label might be of more use, and all the power to you for it!

There's a common misconception that being pan is the main, or only, way to be like this—and while it's not your fault for assuming so, that's wrong! Really, many people feel attraction this way, both those who are monosexual (people who are attracted to only one gender) and those who are bi and/or pan.

Some care about appearances more than others, but there are people under every label who care more about personality than looks. Don't feel as if you must identify as pan just because you do—though of course you can! it's all what is most useful to you—or that you can't identify as bi.

For instance, I'm like you—honestly, appearances mean almost nothing to me, save if someone doesn't shower ever, maybe. While I experience aesthetic attraction in a mildly gendered way, and my (ahem) sexual attraction history is definitely skewed, it's not inherently based on appearance or gender at all. To wax personal for a moment, all my friends are gorgeously insightful and witty and I could wake up tomorrow attracted to any of them, gal and enby and guy alike, the ones who lavish their hair and the ones who don't. (I'm fairly certain that I won't, but that's another matter.) For that reason, my romantic label has shifted back and forth between bi and pan—both work, and it's honestly just a matter of which side of the bed I woke up that morning.

At the same time, I have bi friends who share this sentiment but wouldn't call themselves pan because of gender preference, and I have pan friends who are just like me but don't use a bi label because they prefer the pan flag colors. (deadass. and they're so valid, though I'm partial to the darker bi flag myself.)

—Which is all to say: it's up to you which one you prefer, if you even feel the need to prefer one or the other! Both are good and have special meaning to people, and whatever route you take, I hope it works out for you :')
